It was difficult to predict how many of the students would be showing up for the workshop, even more difficult still to predict how many would come for the maintenance free-for-all before hand. But considering a great number of the students expressed an interest in feeding the flesh-eaters again, she figured at least they would turn up. After all, it wasn't every day she was able to offer supervision in greenhouse eight.
Having unlocked the greenhouse and set up the work stations for the latter learning experience, Seren milled about sedating some of the more harmful specimens in the greenhouse before returning to the main area. The last thing she needed was a student losing an arm from being too eager to feed them.
With buckets of scrap meat, buckets of dung and a mound of compost laden with wood chips in the middle of the floor everything was set to go. Instead of slacking and observing, she too started by fussing over a growth of sword-lilies, snipping away at the browned and floppy leaves. A quick check of her watch showed that it was eight am... which meant students might be arriving any minute... any minute.
OOC: This is not a lesson, it is a workshop which is optional. You do not need to be on time, as there is no penalty for tardiness. Points will be awarded for participation. Herbology Rules and Expectations and the SS Site Rules still apply. IC rule breaking will result in IC punishment, OOC rule breaking will result in OOC punishment.
There was a workshop! Leah was excited to work with flesh-eating plants again and therefore arrived at greenhouse eight (hello, Snargaluff!) early. Greenhouse eight. Eight o' clock. Easy to remember. Normally, she would have prefered sleeping to going to workshops, but this was dealing with flesh-eaters and that was quite fun.
Stopping outside the greenhouse, she greeted "Good morning, Professor Bentley!" and gave a big smillllllle. Then the second year stepped in cautiously and walked to a workstation.

Once the dead leaves were taken care of, Seren set the pile aside, making a mental note to add it to the compost bin out back later.
And alas! She wasn't alone!

When Cris saw the notice on the bulletin board announcing the Professor Bentley would be conducting a workshop on Flesh Eating Plants, Cris had immediately decided that would be one workshop he was going to attend.
So here he was back in Greenhouse Eight. Entering the Greenhouse, Cris immediately spotted the Herbology Professor. Walking up to her, he greeted her with a smile. "Good morning Professor. Thank you for holding a workshop on Flesh Eating plants. Your last lesson really peaked my interest about them. What do you want me to do first ," Cris asked eager to get started.
Stepping aside he smiled and said hello to his fellow Hufflepuff. "Hi Leah. You're really quick and accurate with that gobstone of yours," Cris complimented his fellow Gobstone team member.

Eight am was freaking early.
No really it was. If it wasn't for the idea of flesh-eaters, Grayson really wouldn't have bothered coming here. Sleeping sounded like a much better idea at that time in the morning. Regardless, he had managed to get dressed, munch on some cereal, not annoy annyone and made his way down to this greenhouse. He hasn't been in the other greenhouses so he couldn't say which one was his favourite but this one was right up there because it held such deadly and dangerous plants.
Oh look! It was unlocked! Perfect. And he was bang on time, too. Or, glancing down at his watch, he had made it here a minute or two after eight am but really, who was bothering with the details? He was here. He was ON TIME and there were FLESH EATING PLANTS in here!
He wasn't the only one either. Spotting the Professor, Grayson shot a genuine smile in her direction and said, "Good morning, Professor Bentley!" And two other people (Cris and Leah) were here too. An older someone and a tiny munchkin. The fourth year nodded at both of them and said, "Morning."
Someone obviously woke up on the right side of bed this morning.

Simon didn't mind getting up this early. He had trained himself over the summer to wake up no later than 6:30 in the morning so that he could be the most productive. He needed to be the best and being the best required discipline. Fun could be had in small amounts after he had accomplished his tasks for the day.
As Simon walked into the workshop, he greeted the Professor warmly. She seemed like a nice lady and he was looking forward to learning more about the flesh-eating plants. They intrigued him so now he had decided that he needed to know everything about them. Well almost everything as knowing everything about them would be impossible...
... But anyway...
"Good Morning Professor Bentley. How are you?" He grinned shyly at her before he went to find an empty place to put his belongings. He was getting better at the whole "talking to adults" stuff. His parents would have been proud.

When Lux had heard about the workshop that was being held on flesh-eating plants, there was no way that she would NOT attend. Especially when it was being held by her new Honorary Head of House.
Excitedly entering the greenhouse, she made her way over to Professor Bentley. "Hello, Professor. I am so happy to be here. I hope I won't have to touch dead rats?" Because if so, she would be having nightmares for a while afterwards. "How are you doing?" BEAM.
COULDN'T YOU TELL THAT SHE WAS SUPER EXCITED TO BE HERE?!
Spotting Cris, Grayson, and another Hufflepuff and Slytherin, she waved to them all before seeing the buckets of flesh. "Can I just start feeding them? Or can I do something else?" Bouncing on the balls of her feet, Lux was eager to get started.

Jasmine wasn't quite sure that she had made the right decision in coming to the Herbology workshop. She had enjoyed feeding the flesh eating plants during the last class, but she wasn't 100% confident in her skills. The plants still made her a little uncomfortable, but she was willing to give it a try.
Arriving at the greenhouse and it seemed that she was rather early. Professor Bentley seemed to be tending to her babies and busying herself around the greenhouse. The second year pulled on her gloves and picked up a piece of meat and looked around, wondering which plant was hungry and needed FOOD.

Before too long more students started arriving, and it didn't surprise her that Cris was among the first few to grace them with his presence. “Good morning, Cris,” she returned the greeting, all smiles at this early stage in the morning. “I'm glad you enjoyed it... feel free to get started on the feeding, or you could help me trim back the dead foliage.” His choice, there was plenty to do regardless.
She smiled at the two badgers, enjoying the discussion that was flowing too. “You're both excellent, congrats on the win.” Gobstones, they were both strong players, such a shame it led to Gryffindor's first loss of the season. Herbology workshop. Hayden didn't know how she felt about that. Herbology wasn't her favorite subject. It involved labor, which she didn't like. Plus she wasn't very interested in learning about the plants. She would much rather study spells and spell theory. But points were points, and she was there for the good of her house. Also because she couldn't contain her curiosity. Maybe she could grow to like Herbology. She doubted it, but there was no harm in trying.
"Good morning Professor," Hayden greeted cheerfully as she entered the greenhouse. She was wide awake despite the fairly early hour. Awake and ready to work. But she didn't know what to do, so she just stood there waiting for instructions. She didn't want to get involved with flesh-eating plants without clearly knowing what she was doing first.

Awesome, she didn't need to touch dead rats. "I think I will feed some of the plants and then work on some other things after." Beaming, she saw that Jasmine and Bay had arrived. "Hey, guys!" Bay got a hug because this wasn't a class. Surely the Professor wouldn't mind it. Bentley was so very nice.
Taking out her gloves, she put them on her hands before going over to one of the buckets. Making sure not to grab a rat, she grabbed a nice chunk of meat and tossed it to one of the plants. Honestly, she had no idea what it was, but it sure appreciated the meal, snapping it up eagerly.
Norah wasn't sure exactly what a Herbology workshop entailed, but she was excited to enter the greenhouse anyway. She grinned at the professor and bid her a cheery "Good Morning!” before claiming a spot amongst the students who had arrived thus far. She raked the plants with her eyes, making sure to keep a good distance from the ones liable to bite her head off, and wrinkled her nose slightly. Nothing like the smell of manure in the morning, eh?

Heh, this was fuuuuuun. As fun as it had been in the lesson. After feeding some of these plants, maybe she would help fertilize and then water. Though the bags of fertilizer seemed pretty heavy, so maybe that wasn't a good idea unless she took some strength potion. Shame she had left that in her dorm.
Grabbing another hunk of meat, Lux tossed it at a plant near the first one she had fed. Nom nom nom, it quickly ate up what it had been given.

Yes, it most certainly was looking like a harsh winter... even the plants in the greenhouses were struggling with the frosty weather. Such a shame. "It will be, make the most of the break, you'll need your energy for when you return." It was always more hectic in the second semester, with finals preparations and everything else. As for her? What should she do? Hhhmmmm ... "What are you most comfortable with?" she asked, not wanted to pressure the girl into doing something that might make her feel ill at ease. "Feeding? Fertilising? It seemed as though some were more eager than others, and the older students were particularly apt with jumping and taking on their own tasks. And Marcus was no exception to this theory. "It most certainly is... I wouldn't be surprised if I lost a toe this winter," she mused, perhaps a little dramatically. It was cold though. And ahhhh, yes! "If you could do that I would greatly appreciate it," she nodded, holding out the bucket to the Ravenclaw. It would save her the trip later, and supervision was key so there was no doing it herself any time soon.

Grinning from ear to ear as Professor Bentley complimented both Leah and him on their gobstones playing, Cris winked mischievously at Leah and mouthed We'll high five later before turning to wave hello at Jasmine, Lux and Bay as they entered the greenhouse.
"I'll help with the dead foliage trimming, Professor," Cris informed the Herbology Professor as he headed over to the now docile Flesh Eating plants. "Hello my lovelies. I hope that you ready for a beauty makeover, cause here it comes," Cris called out to the plants as he unholstered his wand readying himself to do some major heavy duty trimming.
Cris had lots of faith in the Professor's stunning abilities, but he also knew that like every living creature, Flesh Eating Plants were sneaky and knew how to play possum. Yes plants I know how you work.
Putting on his dragonhide gloves, Cris slowly stuck his hand out, waving it in front of the Fanged Geraniums. Ready to pull his hand back at any sign of movement, Cris glad when all they did was move their heads sluggishly. Yay for the Professor.
Examining the Fanged Geranium in front of him, Cris spotted a dead branch. Lifting it up with one hand and seeing that it was still attached to the main trunk, Cris chose to use the trimming charm. Doing that would be less traumatic for the plant then trying to pull the dead branch off. Pointing his wand at the intersection of where the dead branch met the Geranium's trunk, Cris swished his wand and said, "Flipnsnipwitit" and wah-lah the piece of dead branch fell into his free hand.
There no trauma at all.
Placing the dead branch on the floor, he searched for other dead foliage, gently removing some of the dead leaves and placing them on the pile together with the dead branch. "You're all good now. On to the next," Cris patted the Fanged Geranium on its flower head before moving on to the next Geranium.

Zander ran towards the herbology greenhouses with a smile on his face. Though he wasn't a huuuuge fan of the class itself, he did like Professor Bentley. So that was a bonus. Either way, he definitely wouldn't miss an extra chance for help. And a workshop definitely seemed like the right way to get started on that kind of thing. So here he was! All smiley and happy and ready to get down and dirty. Get it? Because gardening and dirt and heh.
As Zander arrived to the greenhouses he noticed that a bunch of students had already gotten there. OH NO! WAS HE LATE!? A look of panic struck his face and his happy smile disappeared. Suddenly he became all nervous and sweaty and red and gross. He went up to Professor Bentley, doing his best to look calm. Which, by the way, was NOT working. "Uh, hi Professor, erm, I-I hope I'm not late," he looked up at her with pure shame on his face. "I'm so so sorry. I don't know why it took my so long to get here and I promise I will never let it happen again and I'm really looking forward to working with the plants and whatnot."
The poor boy hadn't even taken the time to realize that he might've been on time after all. Hogwartians are super early to lessons, or workshops in this case, all the time. Or maybe everyone else had just gotten there as well. Really there was no need to panic, but Zander didn't take the time to think. He just kind of did it. Ooops. He just didn't want to let his head of house down.

Reaching back into the bucket, Lux's hand almost touched a rat. Recoiling slightly, she gagged. OMG SO DISGUSTING. If her hand had made contact, she would have needed to get injections or something despite the gloves she was wearing. How had Adi been able to toss one of these things at a plant? She had seen him do it just before, and it boggled her mind.
Reaching her hand in again, she grabbed onto a chunk of meat not containing rats, and tossed it to a plant. As she did so, she saw Zander coming in looking all frazzled and nervous. Awww, the poor little Lion was scared he had been late. Wanting to help him feel better, she figured that Professor Bentley would have a better handle on things. She did send a big smile in his direction though.

There was a workshop!!!! Eeep!! If it was anything like last lesson, Arista was so there! She literally jumped out of her bed and raced down to the greenhouse eight. Early..... Way to early, seriously what was it with early classes! But she put on a smile and stepped inside.
"Hello Professor Bentley, I didn't get a chance to actually tell you my name last lesson, I am Arista Royal!" she smiled a big smile and gave her a curtsy. Hearing an older boy do a spell (Chris) she looked at him and asked the Professor, "Whats Flipinsnipwitit?".
