The official home of the Lions, the Gryffindor common room, is found on the seventh floor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The entrance to the common room is the portrait of the delightful Fat Lady, and in order to gain entrance to their home away from home, Lions must know the password and speak it to her.
This terms password is ‘Legatus’.
Be sure to remember those words...and keep it a close secret, for it's the current password you'll need to speak in order for the Fat Lady to swing away from the hole and allow you to enter Gryffindor Tower. Once you're lucky enough to scramble through, you'll find that the common room is a circular area full of squashy armchairs and tables. To the side of the common room you will find the study tables and bookshelves which are equipped with the resources and materials required to complete any homework assignments. Fixed to the wall by the windows you will find the noticeboard for classes and other school announcements.
In the corner of the common room you will find a medium sized tray topped with soil, and spray bottles containing brown liquid beside it. It may seem strange, but this is the resting place of the Gryffindor Tower Lion topiary. The Topiary Lion moves around on his own accord, and is responsive to a pat or two. Just remember to spray his roots with fertiliser and water them occasionally when he's on his pan.. or else he might wither and die.
A window looks out onto the grounds of the school, and a large fireplace takes up one side of the wall. It's the perfect place to relax and hang out after a long day of classes. If however you are in need of a nap a good night's rest then there are two doors leading off from the common room that open to spiral staircases. Boys dormitories are upstairs and to the right, while girls dormitories are upstairs and to the left. Be sure you don’t go breaking any of the rules by attempting to go up the wrong staircases. Boys don’t stand a chance of beating the enchanted staircase, and frankly girls should know better.
For whatever reason you're here, make sure you take good care of your home away from home. There's bound to be a perfect or your Head of House lurking in the shadows.
Good gracious, who was Cosgrach giving a liquid luck to? He rolled his eyes. Of course he was going to sleep at his bed, where else? No wonder Zander was a 'dork. Gosh, was he sensitive to correct eleven to thirteen? Teenagers. Cosgrach didn't say anything, but patiently waited. He didn't understand the Bentley talk too, and didn't bother to. He simply, patiently waited for them to finish. At the Felix threat? He simply smirked. "Yeah, I'm sure the cat will enjoy it." Teehee. How about THAT?
Business time. Ahem.
His mouth was from ear to ear while they looked at their gifts and reacted to them. "Glad you like them," he muttered, and even though he wanted to ask Alexa who she'd been in love with, when and for how long, he held his mouth. Let them enjoy it first. He'd question her later.
"By the way, Zander," he sweeeeetly smiled at the boy, "I don't see... Aubrey? Valentine and Victor Bay. These are theirs. Victor's a Calming Draught - tell him I gave his friend Lux one for the animals, and I think this will complement hers. Aubrey's one to overcome a mild fear for a day - she's an eager Gryffindor. I hope the potion will help her with that." So, give these to them. Pls.

The longer that Culloden sat with that smug look of his, it just made the third year even more uneasy. W H Y?! Couldn’t the Professor see the utter agony and DESPAIR in Zander’s eyes? The kid just wanted that bed. That’s it. Sigh. At least Lex was on his side? ‘Quite the honour’, yeah right. The honor of giving up his Bentley scented bed. What an honor. At the mention of Kevin, Zander smiled. Hehe. His most favoritest Gryffindor Goober ever. “Yeah, I’m sure Kevin will be very welcoming Professor,” Welcoming as in NOT welcoming. Hehehe. The third year knew that Kevin was holding a grudge on Culloden. At least he’d have to deal with that, right?
Bentley!?! CHECK IT OUT WITH HIM!?! At this, Zander’s eyes widened. It was as if there were angels surrounding Lex and the clouds had parted and a chorus of heavenly sounds flooded the room and Lex was glowing golden and flying and there was a harp and beautiful golden butterflies— Basically, SOLD! A HUGE smile made it’s way onto the third year’s face, though he tried his absolute hardest to suppress it. Y’know what? Maybe he wouldn’t get his Bentley scented bed, but he would get A WHOLE DAY WITH HER INSTEAD!
Ah, the sacrifice was SO. WORTH. IT. “Lex! That’s a brilliant idea!” Except now he didn’t want the kneazle to come along. He wanted Zander and Bentley time. Not Zander, Bentley, and kneazle time. No thanks, the kneazle can stay. But he’d wait until nightfall to discuss that matter with Lex. ALAS, the day was still young and he had some Bentley time to look forward to! HAHA! THIS WAS BRILLIANT! Sign him up now please? "... So should me and Professor Bentley" BEAUTIFUL BENTLEY AHHH "Stop by your office later today so that she can check things out?" The sooner the better, y'know. Plus, the earlier the better too because then MORE TIME WITH HER. Heheh.
By the way Zander? Oh no. He already had the bed, what else was this guy gonna ask for? Oh…. That’s all? He just needed help delivering more potions? Yeah he could do that. The third year walked over and took the two potions. Maybe he’d catch the two at breakfast or something. Eh. It wasn’t anything he’d stress about. AND it’d give him an excuse to catch up with Bay. Man, he missed his FIRST mate ever! “Don’t worry Professor, I’ll find them.” SEE, see the good things he was doing for Culloden? And what did Culloden do for him- yes, the liquid luck but that’s not the point- he took over his bed.

Reason: I left out a bit aaaah oops

The cold was too much. She had just been roller skating down the fifth floor corridor, and had finally gotten some warmth to her limbs for what felt like the first time in ages. AJ didn't want to stop, but she had been after it for hours and she was becoming tired.
The first year slowly trudged up to her common room and saw more white. UGH! The whole snowing inside of the castle thing was really starting to put her in a bad mood. She wished that instead of coming to her common room, she would have went to the kitchens. Some hot cocoa would be nice right about now.
As she walked in she noticed quite a few people. "Is there a party that nobody told me about?" She was a first year, but she was totally cool. It was then that she spotted the professor. "Hello professor." What was going on? Did she miss something? How long had she been roller skating again?
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
Was Zander feeling better now? She already knew she didn't need to help him out here because pfft Collarbin wasn't taking beds, no, but she still did and still wanted him feeling better, even as she began rubbing her vial against her face. The new love of her life. With this everything would be like chocolate frogs and she would probably gorge herself until she was nice and plump and a damn happy camper.
Her name brought her back to the room and everyone in it. Oh he thought it was a brilliant idea? She grinned. "I know and Professor Bentley will think so too." See what you did Collarbin? You made her LIE. Hope you know you'd be breaking it to him later.
Just saying.
Eyes on the Pofessor. Yes. Should he go get Bentley and take her to your office Sir or will you tell the truth? Either would prove funny she suspected...though Zander would be let down. Shame that. The sound of another voice had her turning. Aubrey! "Not a party, the Professor was just giving gifts of good faith in this dark time of snow we've got. There's one with your name on it. You can ask him what it does."

Mackenzie discreetly made her way to the common room with her brownies, She hadn't wanted to be stopped in the corridor by any one. These were for the lions. As she made it to common room she placed the dishes of cut brownies onto the coffee table that sat in front of the couch and left a note
Cosgrach shrugged again very nonchalantly. Kevin+kneazle wouldn't make him back down. He wanted his bed, okay? Okay. Done. He wasn't even going to answer to their subtle threats.
Bentley, though? No. A big no. He didn't want her to come, because there wasn't anything to come to. "No, don't tell her anything yet. I'll let you know, okay? Gotta straighten up my office, see." Deal? Deal. No telling her anything until Cosgrach gave the signal too. Hehe.
And Aubrey came. She... was Aubrey, right? Not the other twin? Hopefully. Cosgrach smiled at the girl and nodded after Alexa. "What she said. Zander's got your vial - it's a potion to make you less fearful. You look like a enthusiastic Gryffindor, and rumour has it a Gryffindor never fears anything."
<--- Random | Funfetti | Lima Bean | Slytherpuff | PURPLE | Hoarder of pens | ALWAYS Severus
It wasn't a party? Bummer. The first year could have gone for some cheering up. "Gifts? Cool!" She hoped that it was in the form of a sweet treat. Speaking of sweet treats, it looked like somebody just laid some brownies down. She read the note and popped one into her mouth. "Mmmm." Whoever this Mack was, they needed a high five.
It would make her less fearful? Was he saying that she was a coward? AJ didn't fear anything. She was a true Gryffindor in every way possible. "Thanks professor. That was really nice of you." Truth be told, she was a little afraid of all this snow... not the snow as much as being stuck her forever.
Zander, Zander. That name sounded familiar. AJ was pretty sure that she hed met him somewhere before. "I'll have to hunt him down then." She was interested in the potion, and couldn't wait to take a sip. It was awful nice that the professor thought about her.

REAAAAALLLLLYYYY?! The Gryffindor just looked at Lex with his blue eyes all glazed over. She thought Beautiful Bentley would think so toooo? Was it the hunger or was his mouth watering? No, it had to be the hunger. It couldn’t be because Professor Bentley would think so too. Hold on, what was Professor Bentley thinking again? Was she thinking about how brilliant their marriage would be because that’s what this Gryffindor was thinking about. It would be perfect. They would start by bonding over Culloden’s office. And then, she would invite him over for tea. He would accept of course, and then they would take a trip back down memory lane and discuss the first time they met. And then, he’d get down on one knee and hold out a bunch of plants- because she obviously had a plant thing- and then he’d pop the question and she’d accept and then they would send letters and then he wouldn’t even need the liquid luck because she was all that he needed to make him happy—
And no sooner had the fantasy started WHEN IT WAS OH SO RUDELY TAKEN AWAY FROM HIM.
He was just getting to the part about the child. Why’d you gotta go taking that away, C? W H Y?
Zander just stared at him. He didn’t look heartbroken-though clearly he was- just that glazed looked of absolute happiness was gone and his eyes were just dead. A dead sea filled with heartbreak and despair. DESPAIR, PROFESSOR, DISPAAAAAIR. “…Okay.” His voice was dead too. A DEAD VOICE THAT WAS HIDING SUCH DESPAIR AND CRIES. Why, C? Think about the children. Bentley Jr. and Zaren (a combination of both their names, ok). They never had a chance.
The boy was so caught up in his HEARTBREAK that he had nearly lost focus of the first year that had just joined the group. It wasn’t until Cullden said his name and THREW HIM back into the HARD reality that is life, that he looked up again. “Oh yeah. Here.” Dead. He was dead. Just like his hopes, his dreams, THEIR FUTURE. Dead. He held out his hand and the potion towards the girl. Why’d she have to hunt him down? He was right here. Granted, he wasn’t actually here HIS MIND WAS ELSEWHERE. Elsewhere in a foreign land called crushed hopes and no happiness.

Reason: forgot to bold NOOOO
Connor walked from his dorm to the common room and plopped right down on one of the big comfy chairs, he was very very sick of this castle, snow and a few people within the castle itself. He wasn't sure he liked this school but he also knew he wasn't going to be allowed to transfer again. Stuck here but maybe next term would be better? The things that made this one suck would be gone, hopefully.
But so would one of the people he liked best here. Addi would be gone too. Hmmm. He really wanted to hear from home, his mother, even his dumb cousin would be nice to hear from at this point. But no bother, with a book full of the works of Poe he was content to sit by the fire and pretend he wasn't snowed in here in a castle but was instead back home in Louisiana, sitting on his porch and reading.
Hello there! Hope you don't mind some ghostly company.

Sir Nicholas took great pleasure ruffling the Fat Lady's feathers by floating directly through her portrait to enter the Gryffindor common room. It was precisely for this reason that he wore a rather dapper grin upon his ghostly features as he floated about the room.
"Good day, Mister Jones," he greeted the strapping young man. "Keeping warm by the fire I see."
Surely the fifth year would be more inclined to do something active rather than sit there and read? Sir Nicholas was counting on it.

The more she rubbed at the vile against her face was the less she paid attention to Zander and Collarbin. Sorry, it wasn't intentional, you had to understand, if the girl could marry chocolate frogs she would, though she'd be a widow within a few minutes but pfffft, that was all unnecessary detail, you know? The important thing was that chocolate and more to the point chocolate frogs were her first and only love. You'll keep your bed Zander, even if they had to have a Gryffindor Defense team set up shooting paintballs at Collarin every time he got too close to the Dorms.
Could they do this anyway? Like make up barracks and call in troops? Yes? No? Maybe? She'd ask once this feeling of euphoria wore off, which would be once the vial was done. Give her half a day to eat her wait in food flavoured to taste like chocolate frogs then she'd get back to you.
Quite curious to note though, was the Professor needing to have a word with her?
".....Sure thing Professor...." She didn't know why, obviously and it left a little hesitancy. Was she in trouble THIS early in the morning?

Connor looked up at the voice, it was one he recognized but one he couldn't place right away. Oh! It was Sir Nicholas!
The 5th year liked the Knightly Ghost, he was very chivalrous and Connor was sure he was full of interesting stories. "Good Day, Sir. There Isn't much more to do if you don't want to freeze around here." The 16-year-old said but with a smile at least. Poe's stories might have been dark but they were so fascinating to Connor.
"What do you do for fun, being a ghost and all?" Was that rude to ask of a ghost? Connor wasn't sure but he wanted to find out for sure..

"I would prefer you to call me Sir Nicholas, if you don't mind," the ghost replied kindly. He would spare the young man the grotesque sight that tended to follow when he bowed his head. Could not have another Gryffindor losing their lunch over the sight. "I would think something with a bit more swashbuckling a theme would be more appropriate. Knew someone who died of fright reading from that author you have in your hands there. Rather timid fellow, actually. And I suppose it was really no fault of the book's but rather the person who had the unfortunate timing of sneezing during a rather pivotal moment in the book. He was at my last Death Day Celebration, you know. The death by Poe fellow."
He floated a little closer to the fireplace and only pretended to keep himself warm beside it. "One does miss it, but perhaps not as much as other things" he explained. "Oh we find our ways, much like you find your own way of keeping busy."

Connor nodded and of course would call him whatever he preferred. That was only polite right? And he was from the south and as such did his very best to be a gentleman. Especially here where Southern Hospitality wasn't a thing.
"Of course, Sir Nicholas. I hope i haven't offended you." He placed his bookmark into the book. He would come back to the Raven later. "Really? Someone was frightened to death by Poe?" This made Him both feel bad and left him a bit in awe of Poe's skills, Connor was always a fan. He had many literary Heroes. "Well, don't get my wrong. I love a good story full of sword fights and junk like that. But there's something about things that are creepy and eerie."
He'd always been drawn to them for sure. The Ghost seemed to be warming himself, did they even get cold? If not Connor liked that Sir Nicholas was pretending to, like he was trying to bond with Connor. It made him feel special. "Really? Do you like being a Ghost?" Probably a dumb question to ask a ghost but whatever.

"I'm not daft enough to be offended by mere words," he chuckled, his body passing through a nearby table as he glided to the right a bit more. "In a sense, yes. Although it was the actual sneezing that caused the fellow to fall backward out of his chair and out a window."
The ghost's face flicker briefly, seeming to completely vanish for a moment as he collected his thoughts. "I've come to terms with my choice," he replied half-heartedly. A choice few wizards make and for good reason. "Although there are times, namely during the dinner hour, where I pass by all you Gryffindors merrily eating away and find myself missing the succulent flavor of Yorkshire pudding with roast meat and gravy..."
"You're welcome, child," he said happily - hoping his company noted how sweet this girl was, and questioned why they couldn't be like her. He opened his mouth to say Zander was the boy right there, but Zander beat him to it by holding out the potion to her.
Something was suddenly wrong with the boy. Very, very wrong, but Cosgrach couldn't tell WHAT. Hmm... at least he agreed to not calling Bentley before Cosgrach told him to. That was good. Cosgrach wasn't going to question it further. Instead, he turned to Aubrey.
"That's Zander, yeah," he pointed out the obvious, "I hope you two enjoy your potions." If you excused him, he had to talk to one Alexa Cambridge.
"Shall we get out?" He didn't want the others to hear him.

Collarbin hadn't gotten the memo, clearly he hadn't because he was saying things while she and her new potion were still having their own little special moment. What was he on about? Them leaving the Common Room? Weeeell, she was going to try getting some late breakfast anyway so....
"Sure thing Sir."
And with that Lex headed for the portrait hole and existed the Common Room. He would be following behind right...? For...whatever it was he needed to say that wasn't to be said in the Common Room.
There were only so many conversations that could go like that.

And with that Zander just nodded at Culloden. He'd definitely enjoy the potion. But he would NOT enjoying have to switch out his bed for a Professor bed. No. He wanted his Bentley scented bed okay!! This wasn't fair.
But he knew better than to argue with a Professor. Especially because he had seen Kevin do it with this guy and he got a detention for it so no thank you. Not after he had just gotten a gift. That wouldn't be a very nice thank you. Anyways he was more upset about the bed than he was about Culloden making him switch the bed.
Either way, he just watched sadly as they planned to leave the room. You know what would make this day a little better? Food. Food made everything better. So Zander climbed through the portrait hole too. Not to follow Lex and Culloden, no he left for the food. It was always about the food.
To the Great Hall!!

Good, the boy was happy he hadn't been offended. Though Sir Nicholas seemed like a very friendly Ghost. "Well, I'll have to remember not to read Poe next to an open window." He joked a grin on his face for the first time when he wasn't speaking with Jun or Addi. Things had been rough for him lately, though that was really his own fault.
Connor watched, did he vanish? Then he was back again. The Gryffindor tilted his head, a slightly curious look on his face. He was always curious about something wasn't he? "Would it be too personal for me to ask why you decided to become a ghost, Sir Nicholas?" He had a thirst for knowledge and knowing why people did what they did. "I can only imagine how that must feel." Connor was always hungry, so no food and watching others eat? Merlin!

"See to it that you do not. I do not fancy that your Head of House would appreciate hearing such grave tidings," Sir Nicholas instructed. He too was joking, although it was perhaps a bit difficult to read sarcasm coming from the spirit. "Fireplace could be a bit hazardous as well." That time his sarcastic tone was a bit more obvious.
"Are you aware of just how a witch or wizard becomes a ghost, Mister Jones? Only those witches and wizards who fear death are likely to become ghosts." Which had answered your question, young man, in a rather round about and impersonal fashion. "Which is precisely why I was wondering if perhaps I could ask of you a favor." The ghost eagerly glided towards the Gryffindor with toothy smile.

AJ turned to the boy who was handing over her vial. Oh, that was Zander. She totally had her lions mixed up. "Thanks," she said as she took the potion. Curious, she was very curious as to why this potion was given to her, and to how it would affect her. Most people would most likely be cautious, but not AJ. She wanted to try it, and she wanted to try it now.
She didn't want to seem rude, but she was ready to go into her common rude and tip the vial in her mouth. In case she sputtered or grew hair, she would like to be alone. AJ trusted the professor of course, but she wanted to be sneak away. "I think I am going to go up to the common rooms." If anybody cared or even noticed her. She wasn't needed anymore down here, right? "Thanks again, professor."
Connor grinned a little, the ghosts sarcasm was a bit hard to read but it was there, he could see the look in his eyes. It made Connor grin. "Perhaps I'll have to read it lying on my back in an empty room just to be safe." He joked back, keeping his sarcasm equally subtle. Mmhmm he could handle it.
No, he was not sure. Not at all, how was a ghost made exactly? He didn't think he met any ghosts at Salem and this was his first year at Hogwarts and he wasn't sure he'd ever seen so many different magical things. "Not especially. But i would assume it isn't pleasant?" He asked in a more serious tone, Sir Nicholas seemed like he wanted to keep his personal things to himself and Connor could understand that. "A favor? What do you need, Sir Nicholas?" What could a Ghost want from him?

Sir Nicholas gave an enthusiastic approving nod and held on to his head to make sure that it stayed in place.
And then enthusiasm was somewhat gone. Sensitive subject, despite the ghost being somewhat open to discussing it with students. If his face had not already been pale in colour, however, it certainly would be now. So he did not really respond to those words and instead focused on the latter half. His favour.
Not every day that a House Ghost goes asking for favours, so consider yourself lucky young man!
"I was wondering if perhaps you could be so chivalrous as to bring some food back from the Great Hall after a meal and let it ferment in the boys' dormitory. I would prefer some roast beef with gravy if you can manage."
He had asked a charming young Gryffindor earlier on in the term, but to his dismay she had not delivered on the favour. But he had high hopes for this strapping young fellow before him!

Ah he was SO ready to sleep. And even MORE ready to sleep in a nice insulated common room. This day was spent charming every single corner of every single corridor (okay... not every single one). It was really tiring, y'know? The first few Caelum Saepio's weren't that bad. But after oh so many infinity signs, the routine just started getting boring. Besides, routine just wasn't any fun, ever. So no he definitely did not enjoy that. Either way, he was kind of excited to insulate the common room. Yet, he couldn't help, but wonder why they couldn't learn this charm earlier in the term? It was kind of pointless now that the end was so near. But meh. Whatever. It was still better than nothing, yeah?
So when he walked through the portrait hole, he took a minute to look around before deciding to start right where he was and slowly make his way towards the staircases and then eventually go up to practice a little in his dorm before falling asleep. He couldn't really get to the girl's dorms though, but hopefully they'd be taking care of that on there own. Merlin they sure needed it! If there dorms were anything like his, then they were probably freezing up there too!
Right anyways. turning around to face the wall, Zander held out his wand before saying, "Caelum Saepio." Then walking over a little further ways to his left he went again, "Caelum Saepio." After a few more repetitions of the spell in that corner, he worked his way up to the other. Soon enough he had done just about everywhere and made it by the stairs. He stretched and felt a HUGE yawn coming along. Welp, better get up to the dormitory now, where he could finally dream of warmth and insulation. AH. Beautiful.
