Gobstones Preliminary Match: Ravenclaw vs. Slytherin

http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...atchBanner.jpg
The building used for the Gobstones matches had had it's doors opened to the brisk, early autumn air and it's surfaces magically dusted by Professor Botros and Mr. Kitridge, the school's Gobstones sponsors and made ready for the term's first preliminary match.

The blue and green marbles were set out and the playing 'field' had been marked. Chairs were set out on each side of the arena creating a Viewing Area for those not playing to watch.

Professor Botros had walked in with his cane in hand, the librarian had graciously set up the hall for today's first match and so Ab didn't have to do anything to bother his frail body yet. He smiled at both teams, and banged his cane against the board to get their attention. "Good evening and welcome to the Gobstones club, today's our first game in the season, I hope you're all as stoked as I am." He chuckled, and when no one chuckled with him, he cleared his throat and gestured for the teams to choose their representatives for the first shot.

"Let's begin!"

New member of the Gobstones club, and fourth year Slytherin Grayson Whitlock faced one of Gobstones sweethearts miss Sophie Brown, third year Ravenclaw. Both players took the first shot in the match for their houses, the stones raced across the board, the blue stone bumped an obstacle and stopped few steps behind the green one.

Blue gob filled the space around the teams, Ab started coughing and making faces.

Beverly Wayne from Slytherin flipped the shooter around in the air and took a dramatic shot, while Ravenclaw Prefect Nigel Barrington gave her an uninterested look and nudged his house's stone with his shooter. The green stone bee-lined between obstacles and maintained Wayne's kick speed long enough to take an even closer position to the Jack Stone than the blue stone, that bumped into yet another obstacle.

"Points go to Slytherin again!" Botros said, his hand muffling his voice because more blue gob filled the area around them.

Wayne of Slytherin and Brown of Ravenclaw exchanged a grin before taking the last shot in this first round of questions. The green stone moved just slightly but something seemed to hinder it, giving the chance to the blue stone to race forward and catch up to it. Green gob was released towards the 'claws, and professor Botros flailed his hands in front of his face.

"It's a tie at three points at the end of this round." He announced, excitedly, and ushered the players to go on.

Wayne and Brown stayed for another shot. The stones rolled on the board, the blue stone trespassing a number of obstacles before coming to a stop just a little before the green stone that was just a little ahead.

The girls left their spots to their fellow members, Whitlock from Slytherin and Barrington from Ravenclaw. The boys give the stones a strong kick. They rolled on and on, the green stone bumping into an obstacle and rolling back before coming to a stop, the blue stone taking an advanced spot.

"The points go to Ravenclaw!" Botros announced, waving the gob's smell away.

The two boys remained on the court. Grayson and Nigel released their stones with quick pulls to the shooters. The blue stone rolled swiftly but the poor aim made it collide with an obstacle before it stopped. The green stone advanced closer to the Jack Stone. "The points goes to Slytherin! Slytherin leads by 2 points at end of the second round."
