Gobstones Preliminary Match: Gryffindor vs. Hufflepuff

http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...atchBanner.jpg
The building used for the Gobstones matches had had it's doors opened to the brisk, autumn air and its surfaces magically dusted by Professor Botros and Mr. Kitridge, the school's Gobstones sponsors and made ready for the term's second preliminary match.

The red and yellow marbles were set out and the playing 'field' had been marked. Chairs were set out on each side of the arena creating a Viewing Area for those not playing to watch.

Mr Kitridge had walked in with his hands stuck in his coat pockets against the brisk morning air, the Ancient Runes Professor had graciously set up the hall for the second match so Leo could focus on lighting the fireplaces and getting warmed up. As the teams assembled he put his wand to his mouth to enhance his whistle to get the players attention. "Good morning and welcome to the Gobstones club, today's our second game of the season, I hope you're all as excited and geared up as I am." Not waiting for any responses Leo quickly signalled for the teams to choose their representatives for the first shot of the game.

"Let's begin!"

Leah Abbot and Candice Messer took to the court for their respective houses. The two girls swung their shooters and kicked their stones forwards. The red stone rolled around a few obstacles before it stopped. The yellow stone rolled and rolled until it just past its red opponent before it stopped a metre from a new obstacle.

"The first point of the match goes to Hufflepuff!" Leo announced excitedly. The game was on!

Murtlap

The growth on the Murtlap's back may be pickled and eaten to improve one's resistance to jinxes. Murtlap Essence is a home remedy for cuts and abrasions.

Leah Abbot stayed on the court while the lions tagged in first year Angel Valentine to try her hand with the red shooter. The two girls swung their shooters and kicked the stones forward. The red stone rolled and rolled past several obstacles until stopped in the middle of the court. The yellow stone rolled around several obstacles until it stopped just ahead of the red stone causing smelly gob to spray over the stands.

Strand of Hufflepuff and Messer of Gryffindor marched out for a new battle. The players nudged the stones of their houses, the yellow stone surpassed the red one significantly and stopped at a decent distance from the Jack Stone.

Red gob was sent the Badgers' way. "Points for Hufflepuff at the end of this round. Come on Lions!" Leo cheered on. It was more fun if the match was close.
