What's that interrupting some of the castles beloved stairways? Are those the sound of engines roaring? Why, is that a GO-KART TRACK?! Oh, yes, it is! The track created by your Prefects has surrounded the Hogwarts staircases, floor by floor, and top to bottom and back to top again. Beginning up on the seventh floor, a bright banner confirms that you have indeed arrived at the grand “Go-Kart Race” of 2084.
The start line has a bunch of strategically placed karts for you to jump in and ZOOOOOOM off in, so long as you buckle yourself in and don't turn into a maniac behind the wheel. The karts are all identical in their features, some have a little more leg room for students on the lanky side, and some with less for those on the shorter side. (Equally accommodating, aren't we?) You have ONE lap to overtake your fellow students in this need for speed.
Alas, if you thought this would be a simple ride, you can go elsewhere: the track has a handful of obstacles in your way. Will your wheels get stuck in one of the sticking spells in your way? However will you get out? How about that puddle on the fifth floor? How deep do you think that is? And how about the fake finish line on your way back up to the seventh floor that disappears JUST as you cross the line? The screaming group of fans on the second floor could be as much an ego boost as it is could distract you!
Will the black and white checkered flag confirm YOUR cross over the finish line?

"I'm playing rule enforcer today." But hexing them before they started sounded like a great idea. The Ravenclaw's eyes shifted over to Elodie, as she made an appearance. "What kind of food and drinks?" That was an important question, because she wanted nothing sweet if that's all she could snag before the minions.
Giving some of the kids warning glances (she really WOULD hex them) she motioned to a free cart with her wand. "You can join me if you like."
Dora was very much tempted to send a warning hex to Tag for bumping that kid (even if it was a light one), but she was distracted by the voice of a professors class who she'd never in her seven years attended.
"There's a peddle inside the cart." Just one, and hardly missed. Her eyes cut to the woman but her wand flicked at a go-cart a little further away from the one she'd motioned to for Elodie. "Runs off magic, and yeah." Shrug. "You can have a go." But if she got stuck, she wasn't helping her out.
Or anyone for that matter.
She listened to the Ravenclaw Prefect before making her way over towards the cart and looked it over. This was an interesting little thing wasn't it. She knew she could fit if the students were fitting. She was only five foot, so there were some positive to that.
In her high heels she was relieved she opted for pants and not the dress she had thought about. That would have not been very appropriate trying to get into the Kart. Hmmm this was just interesting to her. "Peddle inside, got it." She grinned towards the girl. "All of you did such a wonderful job planning this. Bravo." She snapped with excitement for their event.
She had to be a very helpful student to be a student leader. Cassie just knew it, now to get into this Kart. She carefully put her foot over though the heel got caught and she tripped a bit, "I'm alright." She chuckled before finally sitting down. Looking towards the male prefect already in she laughed and he got snaps as well. "Very funny, yes, but we both know that can not happen." She didn't even grade those, the ministry did. Or at least ministry officials use to come in to grade, had that changed?
Just about to get situated to leave she realized her kitty purse was still on her, "Oh no, you two can't go on a ride. I didn't bring kitty helmets." Looking back to Ravenclaw prefect she lifted it. "Could you put my bag off to the side please. Gemini and Aries won't be any trouble, they will stay in their purse and just watch, I promise." She had no visions of them doing differently so it would just be fabulous.

"I think so. I'm not sure if we're waiting for someone to send us off or something," he said as he eyed the Professor and student leaders in front of them. Was someone going to appear out of nowhere to notify them to start the race? Or would they have to do it themselves?
Oh, the guy knew his name? Cool! Save them both the usual introductions. "Yep, That's me. And you're Simon. I've seen you hanging out with Ethan.'' It was a question, of course. Adi was sure the dude's name was Simon.
"I don't think so,'' the Hufflepuff said. "I think it's up to us.'' If it wasn't, what was the worse that could happen? Meh. He and Simon were just going to have their fun. "I think I'll go ahead and give us the countdown. Three, two, ONE!'' With that, Adi floored the gas pedal and zoomed off. Look out, everyone! Crazy Hufflepuff with mad driving skills coming through!

Yes, he had been right after all. "Yes, that's me. Yep, Ethan and I are good mates," he explained pointing towards himself. He and Ethan's beds were right next door to each other in the Slytherin boy droms. Before he could comment any further, Adi had already counted down and raced off.
Wait a minute...
Simon sat there for a bit, trying to register what had just happened. Then it all came to him and he tightened his grip around the steering wheel. He narrowed his baby blue eyes and placed his foot on the pedal. Then he shot off right after Adi. Calculating each angle specifically when he came to a turn, he zoomed around corners and caught up to the Hufflepuff. "Nice to see you again! Ta ta!" he shouted as he zoomed ahead.

Obviously Tag played too much of that game whenever he could.
So, obviously Grayson would be the one going down.
It seemed that his loser, excuse us, competitor was ready to go. Good, they could get started on Shirt Boys defeat. Tag would start the race, yes? It was only fair. He was in the better house, and clearly the better looking one out of the two. Logic. His girlfriend could account for the looks.
"On three we start the race." Tag said, giving Grayson a nod. He'd try to play fair, but like he said, there is not friendship in go kart, just enemies and competition. "I'll count us off, yeah?..... One.... two...." Before he could even say three Tag pressed his foot down, hitting the gas pedal and started zooming across the seventh floor corridor. His driving swerving a bit as he tried to gain control of how to turn the wheel with good accuracy. So, yes, the gryffindor was go karting in dangerous S shapes.
AWESOME.
SHIRT BOY?! What in the name of merlin? Where had THAT come from?! "Whatever, Sassy Boy." See? He could counter-attack with a nickname too. And did he think he was DUMB? "Of course I've heard of Mario Kart! The one with the little plumber and you drive around a racetrack. And then some dead evil person ALWAYS likes to pick the Rainbow Road." Him. That person was him.
Not that Grayson played it often because his brother simply didn't bother and it was no fun that way. That kid had a lot to learn.
On three they were starting? Good. This gave the blonde one an advantage in knowing when exactly they could start the race. Shame. He'd just have to make sure he was as ready as possible so that the boy didn't--
....................... WHAT A FREAKING CHEAT.
"OI!" Grayson hollered before putting his foot down and following the Gryffindor. Jeez. JEEZ. This one was not to be TRUSTED. Clearly. And even moreso in the fact that he was weaving this way and that as if he was trying to stop him, Grayson, from moving on ahead! In fact, the fourth year wouldn't be surprised if he WAS doing that. The boy kept on finding his way blocked by the other boy! MERLIN.
So, he did the only thing he could do in a situation like this. He waited until the seventh year was zooming towards one side before pressing down on his pedal and trying to zoom ahead.
This was a RACE. And it was EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF.
Except SEVEN flights of stairs to climb? SEVEN? Cooome on. She'd just come all the way up there earlier and now she had to go all the way up? HEHH. Oh well. It be worth it right? After all GO-KART RACING. Like anything would be worth it for that.
So with her longer legs than before, the third year began ascending the stairs and not slowly, almost at a jog. The adrenaline was surely to be kicking in.

Kace was excited to do go-karting! This is one of the events he was looking forward to. His adrenaline was kicking in. He was smiling and grinning non stop. He heard the karts engines and was prepared for this. As he looked towards his right, he noticed a girl was standing there by her lonesome. She was still walking up the stairs. Man there were a lot of stairs. He tried to keep up with the girl and asked her, "Do you need someone to race with?"

Rule enforcer? Elodie grinned and nodded. "Sounds like fun. I'm around to throw eggs at people if needs be." Eggs. She'd literally had the urge to throw eggs at people for a while now and she wouldn't mind using certain students as target practice. (Here's looking at you, Tag Kildare!) "Just some sandwiches and pumpkin juice.. Didn't stay around too long." The first bunch had been heading in when she'd left and she wasn't in the mood to converse with students about food.
Instead she'd just complain about them up here and find it wonderful if one of them ended up soaked from the puddle.
She glanced between Dora and the Divination Professor, before nodding. "I'll join if you promise we beat these rugrats across the finish line. We'll never hear the end of it." Actually, she'd just hex them and egg them to make them shut up. Maybe even throw apples at their heads. And Theo didn't even get a smile back. Head Boy or not. She was going to be faster than him and he was going to come crying and asking for the sandwiches she'd brought up. Boo hoo, Kinsley.

"Yeah." Paaaaause. "Thanks." For the comment, she supposed. Dora watched the professor with disinterest, occasionally casting glances at the other students who had arrived and were hopping into the carts. It was good that Theo was speaking with the woman too, she was too happy for Dora right now. Why was she even that happy? Did she know how to get out of the castle?
..... Excuse her?
"I can't be held responsible for personal belongings, Professor."Especially cats. "I'm not sure if you're aware, but we Ravenclaws have a tendency to set things on fire. Not on purpose mind you, but for the sake of your pets I think it best they just stick with you, least they end up dead." Dora looked completely serious.
Not that she'd kill the cats, but she sure as hell wasn't going to watch them.

"Rotten eggs?" Dora smirked at the idea. Hexes and rotten eggs. They clearly make a perfect match for manning this event. "I'll take a sandwich, keep the pumpkin juice. I don't drink it." She wasn't really a juice drinker.
Elodie was gonna race the annoyingly chipper professor and Theo? "If you're all racing, I'm going to stay back and make sure everyone behaves." You know, take out all her irritation on the small kids. Much more fun than racing.

Well that certainly explained why Adi saw those two hanging out a lot. He vaguely wondered if Simon could skateboard too. "Do you skateboard?'' Because Ethan could and all.
The Hufflepuff caught the surprised look on Simon's face just before he took off. Come on, Simon! Look alive! Hehe. He had this race in the bag. Or did he? It was Adi's turn to look surprised as his fellow third year came zooming up along side him.
And then...he took off, leaving a still surprised Adi behind. But the Badger wouldn't go down without a fight. He stepped on the gas, just after rounding a turn. Look out, Simon!
Slytherindor ♛ The Crazytastic Besties ♛ Shan Watson ♛
"No, I don't skateboard. I'm not very good at balancing," he said laughing. He was much better at more intellectual things like...like chess for instance! Or reading or solving crimes. Those were his areas.
He continued to smirk as he raced ahead, taking each turn well. However, Simon had always been kind of decent at go-kart racing. He continued zooming ahead and glanced in his review mirror to see if Adi was there but Adi wasn't. "Huh?" said Simon as he eyed his surroundings looking for his mate. He then took a quick peek behind him and saw that Adi was catching up. He pressed on the pedal again. Would this contraption go any faster?

Cassie was still looking around the kart trying to figure it out and giggling to herself about how much fun this would be. Now did she have to wait for them to say go to start racing the Head Boy? Just as she was going to possibly hand off her purse she looked at the Prefect a few moments blinking towards her.
Alrighty then.....
She got up out of the kart carefully with her heels and made her way over to the wall of the corridor. “Miss Miroslava, I wasn’t asking you to watch my purse, my kitties are very capable of watching themselves and I’ve had no visions stating otherwise. What I’m very shocked by is a student leader who is being a bit rude towards a professor, you would think with a house in last place someone of your leadership would be showing respect to their peers as well as their professors. Random points have been given out for effort and wouldn’t it have been nice to gain them for being helpful. We always want to lead by example, not by words.” She smiled sweetly at the girl as she sent the purse down out of the way. Turning and heading back towards the Kart she gave yet another glance towards the prefect, “And last I knew Ravenclaws were always very helpful and not really the pyro types, but it might be something I will have to question Mr. Kitridge about later on, or possibly the Headmistress just to make sure things are fireproof for you.”
With a bit of a giggle Cassie moved back over towards the Go Kart she got settled back into it. Now how did you work it again? Looking up hearing another voice she grinned at the Hufflepuff prefect, “I’m not sure I can promise anything, I’ve never done this before, but I’m all for a friendly race for fun.” She snapped with excitement. Looking to both Theo and Elodie she took her hand to the wheel. “Are we ready?” She was at least ready to try.

Smiling, the third year made his way over and stood next to her. "Hello," he said. "You gonna go in one of the go-karts?" he then asked, turning his head to look at her with a smile.
Come to think of it, maybe this wasn't such a great idea. And perhaps she should maybe go back towards the entrance of tent, right? These karts looked awfully intimidating & what if she crashed while she was driving these things? Or worse, what if she hurt someone else, apparently she'd done it before during Quidditch, so while would this moment be any differet? Yes, she should go, she should just go-
OH!
Her eyes widened at the sudden voice that came out of her nowhere & she nearly jumped, but that shockingly didn't happen. It was Dylan, that really nice boy she'd met on the train her first term. With her heart doing some very fast pace; she knew so because her hand was on her chest feeling it bounce so fast! But nonetheless, she managed a half smile and waved a little bit to the older boy, "H-Hi Dylan.." Oh, was she going to go into the one of the go-karts?
...Was she?
Josie paused and bit her lower lip before saying, "O-Oh, I um..I mean, I was thinking about it...B-But I um..I..", she stopped mid-sentence before leaning a little close to whisper, "...a-are they safe?"

Sassy boy, if Ella were only here, she'd be proud. Yes, the one with the little plumber and the dangerous and tricky rainbow road one must encounter at the end of the racing tournament. Stupid road with no barriers to keep you from falling into the black abyss. Tag just nodded his head at Grayson when he said all of that, yes, blondie was agreeing with you.
"All's fair in this game!" Tag said as Grayson called out to him. Everything went. Grayson didn't know what he got himself into.
Ok. Tag was still somewhat swerving this way and that way, and even grumbled to himself when Grayson managed to pass him, even with Tag's badly tactical driving. At long last he managed to hold onto the wheel with good formation, his feet pressing harder onto the gas, arms straight in front of him, trying to catch up to Grayson.
He needed a way to pass him or race to him at a good level. The blonde came to a corner of the corridor, slowly making his way down to the sixth floor, and at that very moment, made a very sharp turn, his go kart cutting Grayson off, zooming away from the Slytherin. "I thought Slytherins were meant to be wise in battle...*cough* races." Tag said to him from far down the corridor.

Says the one who sped off ahead before he had even gotten to THREE! But Grayson wasn't one to hold grudges. Nuh uh. Not REALLY, anyways. SPLASH!
Drenched. He was DRENCHED.
WHERE HAD ALL THAT FREAKING WATER COME FROM?
Zoom zoom zoom.
Tag thought he was making good progress. His hand gliding over the wheel smoothly, keeping his kart as straight as possible unless he needed to make some sort of turn, or anything like that. Of course he was winning. The boy had lived for Mario Kart so he had all his techniques down. How to manuever, when to put lots of gas or back off from it. Granted this wasn't a video game but it was close to it.
At last though, Grayson had caught up to Tag and he shook his head angrily. First he'd managed to pass him by when Tag had gone crazy driving, but then managed to catch up to Tag, even though the blonde had cut him off at the turn. This wasn't supposed to happen. This wasn't supposed to be a close even race. Something had to happen to Grayson to set him back.
"I know the race isn't over..." said the not so short anymore Gryffindor, his eyes dead straight in front of him, you know, not getting distracted and focusing on the course. "If only I could use use my wand." But it was prohibited.
Then Tag saw it, up ahead, because he was focused on the corridor than Grayson, that water puddle. This time he made a wide turn, completely missing it, but when he looked over his shoulder he saw Grayson had driven right into it and was dripping in water. Tag smirked to himself, even let out a short, "Ahahaha", but in his short moment of crazy turning, and being distracted by Grayson, the blonde slammed in between the legs of a stone bench against the wall of the corridor. The boy tried to go in reverse but his tires were somewhat stuck within the little space of the legs, the tires gently nudging against them, in whichever direction Tag turned them.
He was hoping he'd get out of his misfortune before Grayson did.

The third year bit his lip at Josie's reaction. He hadn't meant to scare her like that. He tended to scare people a lot, he didn't know why. Maybe he should clear his throat next time he was approaching a friend? Hmm.
Poor girl. She seemed really unsure and uneasy about the go-karts. Dylan gave a glance towards them and back towards her. "You should!" he told her. "Really. They're totally safe, I promise. Just take a look at everyone driving around in 'em," he told her, gesturing to the track. "No one has crashed and they're all having a great time. I think you ought to give it a go. I'll go with ya if you want." he reassured her with a smile and a small nod. She wouldn't know until she tried it out, yeah?

Josie's hand stayed practically glued to her chest as she waited for her racing heart to return to its regular pattern. Which took a few moments until it had eventually calmed down.
She couldn't help but fidget nervously & shuffle her feet as she stood there anxiously looking at everyone going by. Biting at her lower lip once again she looked over at Dylan as he was trying to tell her they were safe. Josie couldn't help but admit, it did look like everyone else was having fun on the track. What was the worst that could happen? Of course, aside from the fact that something could go wrong with the go-kart like it could possibly blow up or something? But aside from that, yes it did look like fun. Once he finished speaking she couldn't help but feel a little relived to hear him say that they could go together. She pursed her lips a little bit before nodding twice, "T-That would be okay...I-If you wanted to I mean..You d-don't have to, if you don't want to.."
Soo.. as Olly had successfully chased Cassia away (for now), Józsua, still chomping on a sandwich, waited for the Puff up on the seventh floor by the Go-Karts. He was looking at the track with a scrutinising eye, lips pursed, obviously deep in concentration. This looked fun, he couldn't deny.. and the selective competitive streak in him which was one of his more obvious Slytherin traits was raring to rear it's ugly head.
He glanced at the karts and then back towards the stairs.

Where was Olly?
.......Olly was here.
Somehow she hadn't realized that in order to do the go-kart thing they would have to walk aaaalll the way to the top. To the seventh floor to be exact. Well, she did spend a lot of time up here anyway but still. This was effort. Unnecessary effort. Though now, walking up to where Józsua was standing, Olly was just a bit impressed. This thing looked pretty cool to be honest.
She was still eating her (!) piece of cake as she finally stopped next to the Slytherin. "I didn't bring you any." Cake that is. In case he was wondering. And he better know why too. Inviting Cassia to play paintball with them. Why would he do that?
The smile Józsua was sending Olly's way when he finally (was walking really slow a Hufflepuff trait?) spotted her faded at her words. No cake? “Why?" He gave her a offended/disdainful/petulant look. She was feeding him sandwiches all of five minutes ago. Why no cake? “You'll make yourself sick if you eat all that before you do.. this.” He gestured at the track. Mhm.. so she should share. Yea..

Why? Why did she not bring him cake?
"You're too nice." That was a good reason, wasn't it? She smirked at him, breaking off a small piece of cake and putting it into her mouth. Aw, he was worried about her? "I have a good stomach." And yes, she was well aware that Józsua CLEARLY wanted cake too. She just continued to grin at him.
.....................oh, alright then. She was not going to give it to him though or else she feared he'd just finish off her piece of cake. Not that there was much left anyway. So instead Olly held up the cake. "Open up." His mouth. He was allowed to take a bite. Wasn't she just the best friend in the whole wide world? Yes she was.

Okay so Simon doesn't skateboard. Not that Adi did either. He had never tried that out, anyway. Not that he didn't want to. Anyway...
Was that a puddle coming up just ahead of him? Adi had been so focused on catching up with the Slytherin that he almost missed it. He yanked hard on the steering, veering to the right and just narrowly having avoid streaking straight through the puddle. That would have definitely slowed him down.
But now Adi locked his eyes on his target. Simon was still ahead but no worries. Adi could still catch up provided there were no more hurdles. But somehow he knew there would be more.

Too nice? Wait.. what? Too nice for cake? “Too nice for cake?” Józsua was puzzled. “How can you be too nice for cake. Nice people deserve cake.” Surely. Where was the logic there, Olly? He wrinkled his nose at the strong stomach comment. So much for that plan.
Ahh.. See Olly was a true Hufflepuff at heart. Sharing food was one of the nicest things you could do, Józsua thought. He opened his mouth as instructed and took a nice big bite. Chewing, he smiled at Olly. Yummy.“That is good cake.” He said with his mouth full.
..Why had they left the food to do this again?
He guessed the sooner they got in the go-karts, the sooner they could be back to the food. He tapped Olly on the shoulder, getting her attention and silently telling her that he wanted to race now. He selected a go-kart and hopped in.

Elodie was gonna race the annoyingly chipper professor and Theo? "If you're all racing, I'm going to stay back and make sure everyone behaves." You know, take out all her irritation on the small kids. Much more fun than racing.
"Utterly rotten." To the point where it was debatable what would be inside when the egg shell cracked all over someone. "I'm sure there are some dorms with hidden gross food in there that we could turn into face masks for the idiots here today." That was...if the cleaning wasn't up to par around here. Not that Elodie noticed, because she'd gotten into the habit of stress cleaning recently. She offered Dora one of the sandwiches and set the rest aside, trusting the Ravenclaw to use her wand against any rugrat that tried to get in on their food and stuff. "More pumpkin juice for me then.."
Getting herself into one of the karts, Els nodded. "Kick butt, Dora." That was her stamp of approval in beating the kids up. "Eat sandwiches, too."

The exchange between Dora and Professor Happy didn't go unnoticed by the Hufflepuff, and she could only resist rolling her eyes. Well Professor Happy just talked too much, didn't she? Yada yada yada. Lead by example. Bore bore bore. She was also definitely some sort of child of the sun. Blonde hair and all the bounce and gross. Elodie kept her comments to herself, and got settled in the seat and tapped her fingers on the wheel. "I'll beat you anyway, Professor." It was an age thing. That and Els was sure Professor Happy didn't know her left from right and would fall victim to the fake finish line or the puddle.
She was goin' dowwwwwwwwwwwwwn. Cya lata, uncool 'fessor.
"Ready teddy."
Theo was probably too busy doing his bloody hair. Again.

WAS THAT A PUDDLE? Simon quickly steered around the puddle- barely getting around without touching it. He looked in his review mirror and took a deep breath. Adi was slowly catching up to him. He tried to floor the gas pedal even more but it didn't work. He just kept going at the same velocity as before. Hmmm...
What could he do now?
Before he time to answer that question, his blue eyes widened when he saw the whole floor up ahead glistened with water and a little bit of ice?
SWEET MOTHER OF MERLIN--- !
"ADI! ADI! ICE," he shouted and broke a little, hoping that Adi would hear his cries.
