Benjy was sick of the castle. He'd never been good at being cooped up inside, but this was getting ridiculous. No quidditch had been one thing, but stuck inside this giant icebox with very little to do other than NEWTs revision was grating on his nerves...and that wasn't a good thing. Sure...all that studying was probably guaranteeing the grades that he needed to win Kalla's bet, but it wasn't good for Benjy's sanity.

He needed to feel the wind in his over-grown hair.

Except that wasn't easy in a frozen castle...so a trip to the kitchen to top up his studying supplies (namely: cookies) would have to make do. No point going there slowly though - not if your name was Benjy. His ever-present skateboard was once more at his feet, and Benjy effortlessly jumped down the final staircase to the entrance hall - his lack of enthusiasm for the indoors evident in the fact that he didn't throw a trick into it before landing.

It was a bad habit she'd developed but Lex couldn't stop. Despite knowing the front door was no way to leave she kept walking to it, if only to look and remember the days she used to bolt through the doors with her kneazle, either on the way inside for a snack or on the way out to find life on the grounds. Why would they not fix this? Any longer and she'd possibly develop a nervous twitch about her. The crazed look was already there.

After what seemed like an eternity of blank staring at the giant double doors, she turned to head back to her Common Room and found...oh? Benjy? You think she'd run into him more often now that they were stuck on the inside, though she supposed he was just off with Vesper and them again. That was a thing last she heard.

"That was disappointing and we both know it." She said, conjuring an amused grin for the occasion. A jump without tricks? The snow must have been affecting him too.

Having made the landing, Benjy thrust his hands deep into his shorts pockets, and kicked off again in the direction of the kitchens with only the merest shrug of his shoulders. Boarding inside was better than nothing...but not much. The shut doors to the outside world just taunted him, and not in the way that got his adrenaline all fired up. He felt empty.

The voice stopped him. Had Alexa Cambridge just called his jump disappointing? Benjy turned on the spot, and kicked his board in her direction. "Wanna show me how it's done?" he said, the very smallest of smiles attempting to tug on the corner of his lips.

Maybe there was someone in this castle that could make him feel a bit better.

"Hmmmm...do I...?" Lex asked, feigning contemplation as her foot stopped the approaching board. It would have been an interesting sight to see, if only until she broke something and ended up spending a perfectly free and dull day with the Healer. "Reckon I do actually but I'm already confined enough, don't need to make it worse for myself." Lex had been learning a few things with skateboards but she was nothing like Benjy or her cousin Dax. A trip down a flight of stairs ending with a jump was how you got killed before you saw the end of winter and could be allowed out into the world again.

"You, though, could show me better I'm sure, if you tried." Just saying. She might have been egging him on to do a stunt or two. He always seemed happy when he did those and that half hearted descent was telling of something else.

Lex kicked the board back to him. "Unless you've lost it all in this storm. Tricks, motivation, your friendship with gravity..." She rattled on, watching the board roll back to him.

He stayed back for the moment, watching her reaction...hands still wedged in his pockets. Now he wasn't moving his legs were getting a bit chilly, but he could deal with a few goosebumps. "Not sure how you could make it worse," Benjy commented, his usual zest for life dead in his voice. "It's not like we can go anywhere anyway." He looked wistfully at the shut door. Did Lex feel as trapped as he did? Possibly. She didn't seem the sort to like being stuck in one place.

"I could," Benjy replied, almost as unenthusiastically. The key word there was 'tried'. He didn't feel like trying...didn't feel like doing much at all. The board arrived back at his feet, and he kicked it up into his hand. "And what if I have?" It was almost a challenge back at her, to see if she could get him up in the air again.

He couldn't see how it'd get worse? "There are a few ways." She assured him with a small shrug. "I could be stuck in the Hospital Wing covered in casts then not only would I not be allowed outside but I wouldn't be allowed to wander inside." Just the thought of being bed ridden with the company of no one but the Healer was enough to make her shudder. What they had now wasn't freedom, not by a long shot but it was better than what it could be. Imagine only being allowed in the Common Room! Mer-lin.

As she spoke she regarded the Ravenclaw standing before her. There was something off about him and not in the way that could have led to an adventure. No. Just. Resignation. That wouldn't do him any good at all. Things always went downhill when you blindly accepted things for what they were. It was why she still wandered the corridors. Had to find something to do. HAD TO.

His question got her brow raised. What if he had indeed. "If you did I suspect I'd have to shove you down every staircase from the Claw tower to the Dungeons til you've found your spunk and drive again." That was the obvious choice here. Yes there would be a few broken bones but he'd thank her for it in the end when he was boarding again...in theory.

"The storm getting you down too?" She decided to ask after a moment's silence. He really did seem down.

The curl of a smile at the edge of his lips briefly reappeared, as he tilted his head thoughtfully at her. "I'd come and visit you for your efforts though," he said honestly. "And you'd have to do a pretty spectacular job at falling to be stuck in there for too long." Even his broken ribs last term hadn't taken that long to fix. And some things were just worth getting injured for. Though...whether he was one of them, well...she had him there. After Vesper, he suspected he wasn't.

The thought of her first getting him up, and then pushing him down, all the staircases tugged at that starting of a smile a little more. "If you did...it'd be the least you could do to stay in the hospital wing with me afterwards." He'd been talking one measly short staircase...she was talking the whole schools-worth, including several moving ones knowing Lex.

Before all this, he'd nailed his first trick on the moving staircase. How had he lost the motivation to do more? Sigh.

"Something like that," he said, biting his lip. "I'm not great at being cooped up. I'm guessing that shut door isn't great for you either?" He pulled a face at it as he spoke. "Too little space...too many people?"

There we go, a smile. It wasn't fully grown, happy place, let's share the candy wide but it was a smile nonetheless and she'd be taking it. There was nothing to be done about this being stuck inside situation but there could be something done about her friend not really feeling like himself so she'd try to work on that. "You of all should know I do a pretty spectacular job with everything, including falling. It'd only take me a stunt or two." Lex actually found herself grinning at this. Being injured was by no means fun but that summer he'd taught her to board she'd proven how good she was at falling, hadn't she Barton?

Her grinned got even wider. "Of course! You didn't think I'd leave you to rot after being half responsible." Yes, only half. If he truly didn't want to be shoved down a couple flights of stairs he'd say so, but this was Benjy and if the idea appealed to her then chances were it appealed to him TOO. "I'd even bring you kitchen food. None of that healthy stuff the Healer would try feeding you."

The Gryffindor took another glance at the door. "Ugh. Tell me about it. I've already near gone and lost my mind in my Common Room. When did we even get that many idiots? And who's idea was it to lock them all in the same place? Sometimes I have to get people to sneak me into the Claw Common Room--haven't been there in a while though." Not since she broke up with Jun actually. There was no need after and not when Cassia let her in with the snakes and Lottie was usually with the lions anyway.

His smile, if that's what it could be called, crept a little wider as he remembered her first skateboard lesson. "That's true, you did do a good job a falling..." A great job at getting back up too. "...though I'd rather get you kick flipping properly down the stairs than sending you to the hospital wing." And with that, he dropped the board from his hand, and rolled it absent-mindedly under his right foot. Absent-mindedly in a good way.

Only half responsible? He raised an eyebrow at that, before considering the whole of her proposition. "It almost sounds tempting," he said, board still under his foot a moment and arms crossed. "Cookies and cakes sort of kitchen food...and maybe even a good spag bol?" He tapped his chin lightly, as if considering it as a deal, and one might even go as far as to say that that was glint of light shining in his eyes.

He nodded in agreement as she vented her frustrations. Well, until the bit about the Ravenclaw Common Room. "I could get you in," he said quietly, "Dunno why you'd want to though." There were reasons why he was studying in the library of all places, and the musty smell of books wasn't one of them. But hang on - didn't she already have a boyfriend for that? He gave a little frown. "Things gone down the pan with you and Jun?" She wouldn't mind him asking out right, would she? This was Lex, after all.

It'd been a very eventful summer that one. Her favourite fall possibly being the one she scraped away her knees on. It hadn't been her lack of ability that time but the uneven pavement along the sidewalk, quite the exhilerating fall too might she add. "I'd rather we get me doing that too, but again, I'd need some brilliant demonstrations." So she might have been coaxing Benjy to give it a try once more. Truthfully she'd never gotten off this topic, even if they did stray some.

HAHA, that was the type of response she was expecting from him. There were moments when Benjy acted like a Gryffindor and she loved those moments more than she could say considering her distaste for Ravenclaws and all. "I'd get you anything you want from the kitchen so long as you don't expect me to make it myself." None of that cookies from the heart or brownies made with my hard work stuff, no. Alexa was a disaster in the kitchen. She wouldn't wish her cooking on anyone.

His offered was a appreciated but..."I don't see much reason for going either anymore." She replied truthfully. There was only so much she did in there and the people inside had no problem coming out to greet her too. What a way to remind her she wasn't getting snogs anymore. Just when she was forgetting too. As for her and Jun..."Hmm? Oh, yeah, you could call it that. We're still friends and everything but I've discovered I'm very much a fan of being single." It was a liberating life. One she needed with all this confinement. How anyone hit long term relationship was beyond her. Just the thought was suffocating in itself.

Uneven sidewalk, or just Benjy neglecting to teach her how to turn to avoid said unevenness? Either way, it was one of Benjy's highlights of that summer too. It'd been pretty rewarding seeing Lex's improvement. "Brilliant ones, huh?" Benjy ran his hand through his hair, and that smile just kept on creeping across his face. "Are you trying to flatter me, Alexa Cambridge?" Or had her cousin improved somewhat since their last corridor skating session?

Either way, there was now a smile on his face, and Benjy's foot on the board began to rock back and forth with a bit more purpose. His shoulders relaxed a bit too. "You wouldn't put your heart and soul into it for me?" Benjy shook his head lightly. "That's...almost disappointing." In many ways, it'd be far more fun to see whatever she did manage to concoct and how much of it was over her than to have something actually edible. And you couldn't go too far wrong with cookies, right? "I mean...it's got to be worth being in the hospital wing for..." He might be an adrenaline junkie, but he wasn't stupid.

He bit his lip at that, not even managing a retort of the 'not even to see me?' kind - given that he'd be far happier meeting her elsewhere anyway. Sadly sounded like the Gryff common room was out too though. "The blue losing it's touch?" he managed after a short pause, though it wasn't said as lightly as it was intended, especially given the news that came next. "I'm...sorry to hear that," he offered, though internally he wasn't sure whether he should be or not. "Wish I knew what it's feels like not to be single..." he commented quietly, the smile he'd had momentarily lost.

"Leave it to a Ravenclaw to read too far into some nice words." She teased, her expression lit with amusement. Lex seldom spoke with those in blue and for good reason but when she did talk to the ones she liked the result was usually pleasant enough and entertaining. "I don't flatter. It's not my job. It's called honesty. You'd be amazed what it can get you." Both good and bad of course. Not everyone could appreciate the truth and even less were happy you told them. People these days.

Lex laughed at his question because of everything she already knew about her skills at anything but drinks in the kitchen. "Believe me, I'd put my heart and soul into ordering those elves around but that's as much as I'm willing to. I actually want you making it out of there, not getting food poisoning." It may have been an overexaggeration but how much of one really? Last time she did her own cooking was her OWL exam when she nearly burnt the kitchen down--totally not her fault but there you had it. The kitchen...wasn't the best place for this Gryffindor unless she wasn't the one cooking. "This is the part where you tell me I'm a good friend for sparing you such horrors."

Lex watched him curiously for the moment of silence he left before he finally spoke. What? Snort. "The blue will never lose its touch. It's the people I'm not very found of and have become even less fond off." But only because it was true. Bloody house of idiots was all they were with obvious exceptions to this classification. She raised an eyebrow at his condolences before shrugging with an air of nonchalance. "Don't be sorry, I'm not and neither is he." He was already dating Vinnie, no? "Stuff like that happens." Especially when it came to her. She wasn't one to like anything or anyone for too long. Her head cocked to the side a bit at his off statement. Yes, odd because she didn't know why people didn't like being single. "I thought...you and Ves.....what?" Had she missed something?

Adi was standing directly in front of Cutty now, still eyeing the Snake looking thing with curiosity. Sweets? Adi instantly brightened up, completely forgetting about being annoyed with Cutty. This must be those exotic sweets the Slytherin had told him about at the the Quidditch match last term and at the last Start of term feast. Cool!

"What else you got? Got any stuff made of chocolate?'' Because chocolate was best, yeah? But even if Cutty was out of chocolate stuff, Adi won't mind trying some of the other candy. Candy was candy, after all.

A chuckle escaped his lips at her teasing. It'd been way too long since he'd spoken properly to someone out of classes. It was refreshing talking to Lex; he shouldn't have left it so long since last seeing her. "Put it down to the NEWTs studying," Benjy replied with a crooked grin. "It's been overwhelming my Gryffie side of late." Too much thinking - about his exams, people, life... - and probably not enough action. And yes, honesty. He liked that about Lex. He thought he liked it about Vesper too, but turned out she wasn't anywhere near as honest, or as innocent, as she proclaimed. "Given my luck lately, I'm guessing all it'd earn me was a punch in the face." Possibly more.

...so, she was saving him from food poisoning? Benjy laughed. "I doubt it's that easy to give me food poisoning from some cookies - I mean, they don't even need cooking to taste good." He kicked the skateboard in his hand, and span it on the edge with his fingers. "In that case, you're an amazing friend from saving me from such horrors...and I think we should just have a race instead." If he was going to go down staircases, then he wanted the adrenaline from it, and not just a smashed up face...even if Lex was offering to wait on him. "Though you're welcome to feed me anytime..." he added as a bit of an after thought. He really shouldn't blow off such offers so lightly.

He pulled out his wand, ready to duplicate his board. "We're that bad, huh?" He was teasing, of course, but in some ways he agreed with her. Not the whole house - but it only took a certain few to ruin it for others. "Erm...okay..." he managed, at her indifference to the whole Jun thing. It was good it was so amicable, he supposed...and balanced too, by the sound of things. Unlike him and Vesper. Heh. He shook his head lightly, with an ironic laugh. "Let's say she had...commitment issues," he said wryly, still not understanding how a girl could snog someone so much and not actually want to date them, at least for some undisclosed period of time...after which she still might say no. "I became second best to pretty much everything unless she wanted snogs." And he whilst he liked the snogs, that kind of relationship wasn't for him so...yep, still very much single over here.

A very believable excuse right there. Exams could have completely taken over her life last term if it weren't for the fact she was dying from something entirely different. "Don't go getting too Ravenclaw on me now. You sound like you could use a break, a real one. None of that procrastination stuff Charlie was talking about where she was stacking books in the library." Did nobody think to jump off things anymore? Her lips tugged into an amused smile. "You got punched for honesty? No kidding? Merlin, tell me you punched back. Sometimes the truth has to hurt." And if the idiot was willing to throw a punch for it, who were you to not return the favour?

"You've got a lot of faith in me and I'm not sure that's a good thing." She informed him, trying to keep her expression as solemn as possible despite the obvious humour. "The dough alone would send you running." Unless she had company to tell her the right quantities and such. Otherwise the Gryffindor was lost in the kitchen. "So yes, you're very welcome and I do my best." With being a good friend that is. Wasn't that hard and racing would be the pleasant alternative. Lex rolled her eyes playfully at the afterthought. "Feeding is one of the only ways I know to make people feel better when they're bed ridden." Unless they were stuck there because of some kind of nausea...then food wasn't...the best route to take.

Were they that bad? She didn't even need to think twice about that. "You don't know the half of it but I don't have the misfortune of spending excessive time with the idiots amongst your kind so it's fine." No harm no foul, yeah? Alexa did her best to avoid that lot when contact wasn't necessary. For a moment she didn't know what Benjy thought about her response. What? Was it that weird? Relationships ran their course all the time and by the sound of it so did Benjy's...that didn't sound like much of a relationship now that he was talking. "Sounds familiar..." She conceded absentmindedly, though as he went on it became less familiar. Lex had committment issues but that wasn't the same as making people feel like they were only worth a snog or three. "I suspect you'd be upset if I said it doesn't surprize me...huh?" He might still have been sensitive about it but it was true. Ves was alright but there was something about her.

Procrastination by stacking books in the library? Benjy wrinkled his nose. What sort of puny procrastination was that? He'd much rather study to win his bet with Kalla than waste time stacking books, but there we go. Maybe this Charlie person just didn't have the right motivation? "...and you sound like you have a plan to make sure I won't," Benjy replied, his smile now easing into a smirk. "Maybe I just needed a Gryffindor to have fun with." And not just any Gryffindor. The one right there. "I said I probably would...not that I did..." Benjy explained. "Things haven't been going my way lately. Y'know me. I'll give as good as I get." So OF COURSE he would have punched back.

She was Lex, and yes, he did have a lot of faith in her. For a start, she was one cool girl to be able to hang out with. He chuckled. "If I'm bed-bound, I'd say cookie dough that got me running would be a vast improvement..." Sure, he knew that wasn't what she meant...but the thought tickled him all the same. He took a moment to duplicate the board, and kicked the copy over in her direction. Up to her to change the colour, as usual. "I meant...just in general. I'm a growing boy, you know. I won't complain at extra sustenance to keep me going through NEWTs." Was it too much to throw puppy eyes in? If Vesper taught him anything, it was that Benjy could flirt and even sometimes get his own way if he wanted. Maybe not the silver tongue of Garrick, but not too far off either.

Misfortune. It was an interesting way of putting it. Benjy just shrugged. "As long as I'm off the hook, we're good." She didn't have reason to think bad of him as a Ravenclaw, did she? He assumed not, given she was taking time out of her day to spend with him. As for her comments about being upset, Benjy just gave another shrug. "Not upset, no...maybe just a bit meh that if people knew, they'd have pointed it out sooner." Though Vesper and the keeping it private thing didn't help there. Thinking about, maybe the possible interception of his actual friends was why everything needed to be so hush hush. Sigh. "Lesson's been learnt though...and I try not to dwell on the past." Even if he'd been doing that whilst having his head buried in a book. Maybe the here and now was a new beginning waiting to happen.

"You always need a Gryffindor to hang with." Lex interrupted as a means of correcting his 'maybe'. It wasn't a what if but a definitely. She was well aware there were dull Gryffindors amongst the group but the vast majority was brilliant at helping you stay active and having something to do. "And I might have a few things to keep you occupied yes, but I won't be selfish with your time." He had places to be she was sure and likewise she had to evenly distribute her time elsewhere. Oh but he hadn't been punched. "Well...just be sure you deck whoever gives you one." She didn't expect him to act like a pansy, not at all.

She laughed at his obvious jab at her cooking..er..baking, same thing. It involved food that was in no way edible. "Only place it'd have you running is the bathroom. Doubt you'd be thanking me then." Too busy losing his lunch is what he'd be. "Point taken though." She conceded, stopping the board that was kicked in her direction. She'd assumed by now that there was an understanding where colour was concerned and with a silent flick of her wand had hers going various shades of blue. "Can't have you going malnourished just before the most important exams ever. I'll figure something out and hope I run into you without having to go looking through the Claw Common Room." If it came to that, then she didn't think he'd be getting anything.

"You are off the hook. You're not one of them." Not by a long shot. The fact they were having this conversation spoke volumes. Lex grabbed the board and made her way to the top of the Entrance Hall, giving a nod of gesture for him to follow. "We'll go from end to end and back." She explained while she walked. As for him learning a lesson in all this. "Can't see why you'd not want to be single after a lesson like that. Doesn't seem worth hopping into something else." But that was her personally opinion. Lex had never been taken with the idea of relationships, not even while she was in one.

As Adi drew closer, Cutty picked up one of the pyramid shaped boxes and began to toss and catch it close to his hand. The Hufflepuff's mood seemed to lighten a bit now to Cutty, and Cutty guessed that it had been the prospect of chocolate nearby that had enacted the change. Continuing to toss the little chocolate box, he listened to the handsome lil Puff-puff's question.

"Yeah, mate. I've got bags of things made of chocolate. Are yew thinking of having your arm casted in the stuff?" Cause that could probably be arranged if Adi was willing to make a trip down to the potions lab. "There's m'usual chocolate frogs and then I've got these muggle things, Malteasers and I've imported the chocolate sphinxes and chocolate pyramids from Egypt."

He gave paused to let the Hufflepuff digest all that before asking, "What d'yer feel like today, Rehman?"

Always, huh? Benjy grinned at her. "Any in particular you'd suggest?" Despite his Gryffindor tendencies, Benjy didn't actually know many of them on a personal basis - which was poor on his account, really. His final year at Hgowarts, and still he barely knew anyone outside his own house. And it wasn't necessarily for lack of trying, although in some cases it totally was, just some groups weren't all that open to newcomers, and Benjy wasn't one for idle chatter. "You can be as selfish as you like," Benjy replied with a grin. "I've neglected our friendship recently...it's the least I can do." And he'd done plenty of studying. Way too much studying. "So...gonna share what you've got in mind, or just let me come along for the ride?" ...possibly head first down all the staircases. Hehe.

As for decking someone, Benjy raised an eyebrow and laughed. "You think I wouldn't? Clearly I'm too soft around you." Once upon a time he'd had a reputation for getting into fights, especially when it came to both protecting and challenging Garrick. Obviously old age had taken it's toll.

He chuckled some more, as she both got his gist and turned it back on him. "I didn't really need that visual," he said with a shake of the head, "but thanks all the same." He watched quietly a moment, as the copy of his red board become blue. It still struck him as slightly ironic, given their houses. And she would feed him? "That's more like it," he replied, grinning with a hint of smirk. "And I'm practically living in the library at the moment, so no need to go to the common room." Though thinking about it, he hadn't seen Lex in the library recently - so maybe that was just as impractical? "But if you're bringing me food, I'll make myself readily available to eat it." It'd be a waste for her not to be able to find him.

He didn't need to be told to follow, and he kicked his board gently behind Lex. "Sounds good." It was funny, almost cute, actually, that Lex was taking charge when there was skateboarding involved. But here they were, and Benjy was having fun for the first time in ages. "Guess it'd just be nice to know what a proper relationship is like. I mean, I'm pretty much the only seventh year guy that's never been in one..." And thanks to Vesper, it didn't look like it was gonna happen before he left school.

Did she have any Gryffindors in particular that she would suggest to him? Not many, but not because they were rubbish, more because for the strangest reason she had more friends outside her own house. "You've got Tag and Penelope, they're cool. If you don't mind ickles, I'd also say Ezra, he's brilliant company for a First Year. Zander's okay too depending." But he didn't need her recommending people. Benjy had working lips to make friends for himself and legs to take him looking for said Gryffindor friends. It was up to him to want to. The allowance to be selfish was duly noted but she shook her head at what he asked next. "I already said this to Grayson, now I'll say it to you. Telling ruins half the fun. It's better you tag along and be surprized." So no, she was not by any means telling him.

"I dunno." She said with a playful shrug and a teasing smirk. "Claws have been known for being tame in certain situations. They've been known to play with wit and not fists." Truthfully she didn't know that Benjy had it in him to fight but then he must because she remembered Tucker telling her he and Garrick got into a fight on the train her Third Year. Only reason she remembered was because of how strange it was to hear of Ravenclaw's fighting it out.

Ah and it would seem she finally got her message across to him. Letting her cook was just never a good idea. Like ever. She wrinkled her nose some at the mention of the library. "Don't reckon you'll have a drop of food if you stay in there so yeah, best make yourself available." Juuuuust saying. The Gryffindor was not about that library life.

Lex stopped at the top of the hall and waited for him to catch up on his board. His reason...was hardly justified, but that was just for her. "Don't reckon that matters." Him being the only 7th year without a girlfriend that is. "Aside from Cassia, all my friends are hooked up in some way. Doesn't seem that appealing. You don't want all that baggage do you? It's just so...bothersome. This way you're free to do as you like, snog who you want and be your own person. The ultimate freedom." None of that couple-y stuff. Hogwash the lot of it.

Vinnie was hungry. She really needed some food, maybe a donut or something. Unfortunately this weather was making her lazy, so walking allllll the way to the kitchen was torture. Maybe the brunette needed to store some pies under her bed again. As it looked they wouldnt be able to go home anyway. Yeah. Pie storing was gonna happen. That way she could stay in bed, listen to loud music AND eat. How good was that?!

Dragging herself to the entrance hall, the Slytherin noticed a large group of people standing around. Okay....nobody was allowed outside but what was going on here? There were a lot of better places to hang out than the entrance hall

.....especially the treehouse...oh yeah, how she missed the treehouse.

And then she saw it...candy...Thats why they were all standing there, that boy was selling candy. Oh sweet baby jesus. Approaching him the fifth year took off her hood and tried a smile. Hmm. Oh well, maybe later. "Hey you, what do you have to offer?"

The display wasn't a bad idea, but this time Cutty had learned from emotional encounters with Ravenclaws that he was better off setting up duplicated empty boxes vs. the actual thing.
