Just as the fortune cookies said on the notice board, the kitchen is where the next Divination class was being held. With the Divination Tower so cold Professor Cassie wanted a warmer place and possibly a happy and fun lesson to bring some warmth to the students.
Setting on a tray right at the door, Cassie had the house elves make enough hot chocolate for all the students. The house elves that had agreed to help during this lesson, since Professor Cassie knows nothing about ovens, cooking, or baking, are busy getting everything ready.
As you enter the kitchen you will find that there are chairs around the tables for a work space. You will also find a familiar snap cup sitting near where Professor Cassie is standing. Remember what to do? If not there is a parchment with the instructions just like last time.
Quote:
Once you find a seat at one of the tables pull out a piece of parchment and write one thing that you are proud that you have done or someone else has done today. Then come forward and place it into the cup. Head back to your seat and enjoy the hot chocolate!

With the oven preheating, Lux needed to mix all of the ingredients together for the cookies. That didn't seem too hard because there were not a lot of things that needed to be added.
She had gathered all of the ingredients before beginning but still needed bowls, a spoon, measuring cups, and measuring spoons. As soon as all the equipment was collected, it was time to start. Cracking one of the eggs on the rim of the big mixing bowl, Lux carefully added only the whites before doing the same with the other egg. Both yolks were placed in a smaller bowl that she then set aside.
From her limited understanding of how baking work, Lux knew that generally wet and dry ingredients were done separately before being mixed together. The vanilla extract, almond extract, vegetable oil, and water were individually measured out and added to the bowl. Flour, cornstarch, salt, and sugar were then added before everything was blended together with the spoon. Once she was satisfied with the consistency of her dough, it was time to move on to the next step.
SPOILER!!: Recipe

So now after she picked the signs she had to make up fortunes. First she needed to read about each of the signs. The snake started with Aries. She read what was written then paused trying to think of something about it to write. Finally inspiration hit her and her quill was moving.
SPOILER!!: Aries
Do not ignore the new ideas your mind gives you, those might be what changes your life
This actually was fun. And she was eager to do the next one which was Aquarius. Now first to read and then to come up with something. This probably took a longer pause but she wanted to write something that actually made sense. She didn't want to just fill the parchment with meaningless words. But then she could think of something that had a meaning.
SPOILER!!: Aquarius
Your instincts are usually correct but do not let them lead your life
And the last one. If she thought that the previous one took the longest time she was wrong. This did. Mainly because she was afraid she was going to be held back thinking about this when everyone else moved on to the next portion of the lesson. She had to come up with something now! Pressure did work after all. She was glad that her hand started scribbling.
SPOILER!!: Capricorn

Cutty finished up writing the horoscopes for his fortune cookies and by the time he'd gotten to Pisces, he'd developed what he thought would be a great voice for fortune telling. He then laid them each out and proceeded to reduce them to a suitable size to fit into the cookies.

If you've been feeling a bit neglected as of late, remember to show gratitude toward your most forgiving friends and family. It could be that you're not giving what you wish to receive. In either case, remember to love yourself instead of trying to scurry about and make it right for others.
"Reducio." He moved his wand over the little parchment and shrunk it down to size.

Even Miss Cambridge seemed to be doing wonderful and her attitude was so much better this lesson. It was just fabtastic.
Just glancing at some of the fortunes Cassie stopped and blinked once again at Zhara, “Oh no.. no Miss Zhara you can’t have something so violent. Not in my class. We do not punch people in the faces. We can hug, say nice things, or give out snaps, but no punching. Please change that.” She beamed at the girl before moving on.
“Alright class, it’s time to move on. Now we are going to start the actual making of the fortune cookies. Now I’m just awful in a kitchen so I have asked the house elves to come and help.” She beamed towards all the wonderful elves that had come to help. “They will be here if you need them to help you bake. I can help as well, but I warn you at my house my stove is a shoe rack not somewhere to cook.” Nope she didn’t have the slightest idea. The house elves were ready to help though, weren’t they? She glanced around and figured they were.
“Now you can work together or you can alone either is fine. Please follow the instructions that are on the parchment cards, if you need an allergy card you can come up and get one from this counter.” She flicked her wrist and the parchment cards went to their tables then she pointed towards the allergy ones. “Like I’ve said before I do have an allergy potion so you can do the activity without substituting if you wish.” It was up to them really which they did. “Now remember which cookie you’ve put which fortune in. Feel free to make some extra fortunes for the other cookies or just have them for a yummy snack. Once you’ve made them I have set up a little decoration station over in the corner to make them a little fancier if you’d like. There is a chocolate dipping, sprinkles, and some icing. So just have some fun with this. “ She rechecked each table to make sure their ingredients and tools were all set since the house elves had been working so hard. When everything looked like it was in place, she snapped excitedly. “Alright you can get started!” Eeep! How fun!

OOC: Alright everyone have fun with this! The house elves will be around to help out. You need a minimum of seven posts. Cassie will be around to help, well try to help as much as you need and you have until Monday at 10:30 p.m. EST to finish! Thanks everyone for the fun!!
Cooking. Well at least they were allowed to use magic. Cutty used the measuring instruments to gather the vanilla, flour, cornstarch, almond extract, eggs, salt, sugar and veggie oil. From what he remembered about muggle studies, it was probably easier to combine the dry ingredients first. No. No, start with the eggs. The snake boy looked for a small bowl, or possibly a large mug.

So, cookie making! That sounded really fun. Cassia liked to bake though she never felt that she needed because she shared a dorm with Cat and Addi. You don't have to bake cookies or anything for that matter when you had those two as dormmates. But she was glad that she was familiar with all of this because it would be easier and more fun. Usually hard things suck the fun out of everything.
The snake pulled out her wand. First she had to reduce the size of the parchments. Her wand was pointed at the first, "Reducio," Voila! She had a tiny piece of parchment that would easily fit in the cookie. Repeating the spell she had three tiny pieces with fortunes on them. Now to start with the actual cookie making.
Well, not yet actually. She had to preheat the oven. She retrieved her wand which she set aside a bit ago, the seventeen years old cast a spell on the oven. This should take a bit. Now really, she was starting.

As she waited for her cookies to turn a nice, golden brown color, Sophie worked on cleaning up her work area. She knew they'd be expected to anyway, so why wait until the end when things were a complete mess? Sophie did keep an eye on the oven while she was cleaning, though. By the time she finished cleaning, the fifteen minutes had passed. She opened the oven door and noticed that her cookies were a nice, golden brown.
Oh, thank Merlin! She hadn't burned them!
Sophie slipped on some oven mitts and removed her cookies. She placed the cookie sheet in a safe place then turned off the oven. Looking at the directions, she noted where it was now time to add the little pieces of paper containing the fortunes. She gathered them up and got them ready to be added.

Lex had been waiting patiently even after she'd gathered her ingredients. Know why? Because Cassia was still working on fortunes and Lex couldn't get started without the snake who actually knew something about this baking stuff. Now that she was done--she was done, yes??--Alexa levitated everything and yanked her stool over to where Cassia had chosen to work. It was so clean over here. Perfect for baking.
"Hi." Standard greeting, yes, hello, hi bestie. "So I'm thinking you bake, I supervise, we enjoy the cookies and the world is a happy place. Kinda like we always do." Lex was FAR better at supervising than she was at baking, even Cassia knew this so no arguments should happen.
"You reduce the fortunes while I go pre-heat the oven--no, wait, I'll burn myself. I'll shrink these, you light the oven so we can get that started." It might have been weird having someone boss around the Head Girl but Cass didn't let that sort of power get to her head. Power wouldn't make her bestie not listen. Pfft. Plus this was a team effort!
With that, she gathered their fortunes together to make one spell of it. "Reducio."

Cassie moved in and out of the students watching and being available if needed, though she hoped her warning of no baking skills would get them to ask the elves. Pulling her snuggie closer she moved around some more, "How is everyone doing? Finding everything alright?" She hoped everything was out. She honestly wouldn't know. She never doubted the elves to have it ready.
Looking at the House elves she beamed. "Thank you for being here to help." Glancing up again, "Please do not be afraid to ask them for your help if needed." Such great elves to be here. She snapped excitedly and went to get herself a bit more hot chocolate."[/b]
Maybe she should try to make some while the students were making. She could learn something today too.

See she wondered where the quiet-for-this-lesson Gryffindor had gone. Turned she didn't go anywhere and had just joined her. YAY! Cassia looked up from the parchment where she scribbled down the steps and all and beamed at Alexa. "Sounds like a perfect plan," she nodded glancing back at the parchment. See, she and Lex had attempted this , baking, a couple of times. Years ago they totally failed because they always had better things to do. And when they did do it together it was Cassia working and Lex providing the greatest entertaining and conversation anyone could ever dream of. Perfect team.
While the sixth-year shrank the fortunes that belonged to her. Cassia was mentally deciding what she was going to do next. Yup, got it.
"Hand me that bowl, will you?" Just so the other blond would feel involved and not like she wasn't doing anything at all. The snake trusted that her friend knew what a bowl was. If not it would be quite an alarming thing.
But yeah, a bowl was the easy thing, so far so good. Rolling up her sleeves, Cassia switched to cook mode, which wasn't really that different from her regular one. Except just a little when someone ruined her work. No one was going to do that fortunately so all was well. One by one, Cassia started adding the ingredients. Flour, oil, vanilla, sugar, salt and all while adding water. She was using her mother's technique because she knew it by heart. And professor Morgan didn't specify a way for them to do it which was good. "How is Felix, by the way? I haven't seen him in while," And by seeing she meant spending time with him petting him and rubbing his stomach.

Now that Jasmine had mixed her ingredients sufficiently, it was cookie time. Picking up a tablespoon, she carefully scooped up some dough and dropped it onto the nearby cookie sheet. Back to the bowl she went scooping and dropping, scooping and dropping, making sure to position her cookies approximately two inches apart. Jasmine repeated the process until the cookie sheet was full.
Once she was finished, Jasmine checked the time on her watch. Then she put her cookies into the oven. They had to bake for fifteen minutes. That was a long time to wait so Jasmine decided to clean her dishes and utensils in the meantime.

Toddles really wanted to have fun with the studentsies but they were all having fun on their own. Didn't they know how much fun he could be and still be helpful? He was a good elf, but he was a fun elf too. He really wanted to stick his elfsie fingers into one of the bowls and be a taste tester. Make sure the recipe was being followed correctly.
He was just about to sneak his finger into one of the older girl's bowl (Jasmine's) when he heard his name. Oh, Toddles could help with! "Toddles knows where the flour is, Toddles will get the flour." It wasn't quite as tasty as sugar but it was just as much fun to play with. He scurried over to the counter where he had set down the big bag and he hoisted it up, headed back to Pips and the studentsie he was helping. "Here it is!" He set it down on the girl's (Zahra) table, right in front of her, with a thump, sending a large cloud of flour puffing out of the top of the bag.

Pips was getting pats from the studenties. Pips looked up at Missus, "Oh thank you, you are so kind." Though the head lock feeling wasn't something Pips liked.

"Missus wants to lick the bowl? Missus can lick the bowl when done." That meant Pips was doing good. Pips was a good elf.

Flour was everywhere, Pips wasn't pleased and pulled his ears. Though the studenties didn't look too upset. Elf high five? Pips just pulled his ears.

The batter looked so tempting. Could she not eat some before placing it in the oven?
Shrugging, Lux figured why not then dipped her finger in. Yummy. So this was what fortune cookies tasted like. Was it possible for a dessert to NOT be delicious? Because seriously this girl was going to become fat with the amount of sweets she consumed on a daily basis.
The recipe said to place the batter on a cookie sheet, so that was exactly what she did. Scooping and dropping, she soon had all the cookies laid out at what she guessed to be two inches apart. After checking to see what time it was, into the oven the cookies went.
Now to play the waiting game.

Pips was the flippin' BEST ELF AT HOGWARTS. "WOOT! Thanks. That's the best part. Maybe you could lick the spoon," that was the SECOND best part. Zahra moved around, inspecting the ingredients, and she threw one or two in? 'cause why not! She had super elf help so how could it go wrong?!?
But that got boring and Zahra ended up with an ELF EAR in EACH HAND. PIPPPY'S EAR! HEHE! "Can you hear like REAL good, Pips?" she asked, INTO his ear.
Angel had found her wand and she was now trying to figure out what she had to do next, it wasn't until she saw the fortune cookies did she remember and she gave a small giggle, she shouldn't have forgot that.
"Reductio." Angel did the wand movement on all three of the piece of paper and smiled as they shrunk, when they got to the perfect size she stopped the spell. She looked at the next thing on the list, oh yeah well that did make sense, she remembered when she was younger she actually once forgot to preheat the oven.
Angel went over to the oven and cast a spell on it, now she smiled, it was actually time to do the cookie making and she couldn't wait to see how it went after the disaster of the pizza topping in muggle studies.
It seemed that Angel had decided to work on her own, so Leah shrugged and turned to her table. She did not want to do the making fortunes part yet, but she did not have a choice now. She picked up her parchment and ripped it into three parts. After a moment of thinking, she started writing furiously.

They needed ingredients now! "I'm going to grab the ingredients, want to shrink the fortunes, mate?" he asked and then he set off to do so. They needed 2 eggs, vanilla extract, almond extract, vegetable oil, flour, cornstarch, salt, sugar, and water. Okay, sounded good.

"You're the chef." Ethan shrugged as he fished out the parchment of fortunes out of his pocket and laid each one of them flat on the table. He too got Simon's parchments, and prepped them to be shrinked. "Reducio!" One by one, the parchments became tiny strips of paper, small enough to be enveloped inside the cookies.
"I'll go start the oven, yeah? That should save us time..." If Simon asked, his best friend is now a master when it comes to the Fire Making Spell. How many times did he actually burn the Aparecium articles? He lost count. Ahem. Anyway. "Incendio!" Fiiiyaaaaaaaaah.
Now that two steps are done, Ethan consulted his notes and checked it off the list.

Lucy preheated the oven with her wand..
Then it was time to collect the ingredients and her stuff for cooking.
Lucy started taking the eggs to separate the white from the yolk into two different bowls.
Lucy continued weighting all ingredients: vanilla and almond extracts, vegetable oil and water, the flour, cornstarch, salt and sugar and added them to the bowl.
With the spoon, she stirred and mixed the ingredients.
When all ingredients were mixed well and the dough seemed soft she said:" Done! I'm ready to cooking! "
Leah flattened the three pieces of parchment out. Hopefully it would be easier to cast the spell if they were y'know, FLAT. She had only learned the theory to the shrinking charm but had never tried it before.
She pulled out her wand from her robes pocket and pointed it at the first fortune. "Reducio?" she said uncertainly. Noooothing happened. "Reducio." she repeated, and soon the parchment started shrinking at a fast rate. Leah had to think how big a cookie would be before saying, "Finite!" That would be good enough. At least she could do the Engorgement Charm if needed. The second year did the spell two more times and soon had little parchment. She had to squint her eyes to read the words on it.
Happy with her process, she scanned her recipe for her next step.

Having cleaned all of her materials, Jasmine still had time before her cookies would be done. She decided to make a few more fortunes for her extra cookies. Taking a moment to glance at the horoscope cards, she chose Aquarius, Cancer and Gemini to work on next. Grabbing some pieces of parchment, she began to write.
Aquarius
Quote:
Go with the flow and you won't be disappointed.
Cancer
Quote:
You are unique. Don't be afraid to let others see the real you.
Gemini
Quote:
True happiness comes fom within. Look inside yourself and you may find all you need.
Having finished her fortunes Jasmine laid them on the counter and raised her wand. "Reducio", she said while making the accompanying wand movement. Fortunes completed, Jasmine checked her watch. It should be time for the cookies to come out of the oven.

Now to preheat the oven. Leah directed her wand at the oven this time. Does she just say incendio? Okay then. "Incendio." she cast the familiar spell at the bottom of the oven and it started warming up.
This should take a while. The next step was to combine all ingredients, and the girl observed the materials on her table to make sure that she had enough amount of each.

Alright, so it was time to get down to the fortune cookie making part. A recipe should be easy enough to follow, but as she learned in muggle studies it wasn't if you didn't pay close enough attention. AJ laughed to herself at the thought of her too sweet pizza. It really wasn't bad to her sweet loving self, but to anybody else that didn't want a sweet dough with pepperoni they most likely wouldn't have liked it.
Turning her attention to the card, she jotted down the information and read it over three times right then so there hopefully wouldn't be any mistakes this time around.

First things first. She needed to shrink the paper for her cookie. Oh, but she didn't actually make a fortune. She just jotted down notes from the card. Okay, so for Virgo she would say that the fortune is "Today is a good day to start a new project." Oh yeah, that was good. Now to the shrinking. What was the spell again? Reducto? No... that was the spell that made things go boom. Disaster averted! Everyone was welcome by the way. Reducio. "Reducio, Reducio, Reducio." She was all set. Get ready to shrink, paper!
Angel now had to get the ingredient for the fortunes cookies because she didn't want to do anything wrong, she looked at the list and sighed this was going to be really hard to understand what was going to happen here, she wasn't really good at cooking but well she was going to try her best.
Angel decided that she was going to put all the ingredient into the bowl and then she would mix it, she hoped that she could do this, she started to put the things into her bowl and then she mixed it all up, she was glad that she had done it right when she was done with the mixing, she made sure that the dough was smooth.

Since the fifteen minutes were up, Jasmine went over to the oven and peeked inside. The cookies seemed to be golden brown so she grabbed a pot holder and took them out of the oven. Setting the cookie sheet down, Jasmine waited a moment so they would not be scorching hot.
Jasmine reached over to pick up her fortunes. She would have to place them in some sort of order so she would remember which cookie was which. Thinking that maybe alphabetical order would be best, she took a minute to arrange them that way. Any second now, the cookies should be cool enough to handle so Jasmine waited........
