Just as the fortune cookies said on the notice board, the kitchen is where the next Divination class was being held. With the Divination Tower so cold Professor Cassie wanted a warmer place and possibly a happy and fun lesson to bring some warmth to the students.
Setting on a tray right at the door, Cassie had the house elves make enough hot chocolate for all the students. The house elves that had agreed to help during this lesson, since Professor Cassie knows nothing about ovens, cooking, or baking, are busy getting everything ready.
As you enter the kitchen you will find that there are chairs around the tables for a work space. You will also find a familiar snap cup sitting near where Professor Cassie is standing. Remember what to do? If not there is a parchment with the instructions just like last time.
Quote:
Once you find a seat at one of the tables pull out a piece of parchment and write one thing that you are proud that you have done or someone else has done today. Then come forward and place it into the cup. Head back to your seat and enjoy the hot chocolate!
Missus was saying it was time for the house elves to start helping and Pips still had the hot chocolate in his hands. Hurrying towards the counter he scooted the container back. Turning he looked towards the studentsies.
"Any studentsies need help Pips is a good helper." He was a good elf and he would help the studentsies make the cookies for the missus lesson.
Well.... since he was asking. At least Zahra thought this Elf was female. Hum. "HEY ELF. I NEED HELP." She beckoned him over and explained somewhat quietly. Quiet for Zahra anyway.
"I need a fortune cookie, but I don't feel like cooking one. Can you do that for me? Oh and all this sugar makes me want something salty. What do you guys got to eat?"

Had it already been ten minutes? Because AJ was still stuck on the first part, and had yet to make notes about the three signs that she made. Whoops. She needed to catch up, and quickly. The last thing that she needed to happen was for her to fall behind.
Without further ado the lion studied the the signs that she had picked for herself, and she jotted down what she thought was important. As long as she would be able to make a fortune about it, then she would be good.

LOOOOOOOOOOL.
This called for a spot of making up junk and hoping it passes off as the fluffy bit of fortune telling that Professor Cassie was looking for. As long as it sounded right. So, picking up the Aries card, Grayson read it over once..... twice...... three times before he actually started scribbling down a fortune.
Text Cut: Aries
Do something new today! Go into a haunted house, go bungee jumping, maybe even start your own club. Whatever. Break out of the boring old routines, man.
Whatever. That did sound right to him. And he VERY much approved of the idea of going bungee jumping or going into a haunted house. Sounded quite adventurous, that did, with the last one bordering on stupid. Some people did weird things when they were scared, you know? Take those horror movies, for example. People were always doing dumb things in there.
Text Cut: Cancer
People are going to think you're a loony for saying things you don't usually say and you know what you should do? Forget them. Say what you want to say, wear what you want to wear. Whatever floats your boat.
Some people could do well to remember this one. He still wrinkled his nose at some of the weirder people -- Sassy Loony, in particular -- he couldn't deny the fact that he liked people who did whatever they pleased and didn't care about what other people thought. Which, led his well onto his next piece of advice. Heh.
Text Cut: Sagittarius
Don't let dumb people dull down your originality. Be around people who lets you be the awesome being you are. Don't give two knuts about what other people think. You'll be better off that way.
THERE. He was done. All of his good advice scribbled down in a fortune. he people who are going to get these are going to be VERY lucky, indeed.
Now, who was the lucky bugger that was going to be partnered up with him, eh?

Sophie peered up at the directions and read them over. So this was how fortune cookies were made. Cool. She looked at the numbered steps at the bottom and realized she needed to shrink her parchment small enough to fit inside the cookie. That seemed easy enough. She wasn't too sure about the cooking part yet.
She gathered her three pieces of parchment and laid them out before her. She flicked out her wand and held it firmly in her right hand. She pointed her wand at the first fortune and said, "Reducio!" She whipped her wand in a V-type movement. She let the spell go until the parchment was the perfect size, and then she ended the spell.
Then she did the same with the second fortune. "Reducio!" she said, again making that V-type movement. Once she'd repeated the spell with the third and final fortune, she was all set to go. She had three fortunes all hopefully the perfect size for a fortune cookie.

Now for the fun part. Jasmine was excited to be making the fortune cookies. She really liked to bake and this was kind of baking. She copied the recipe down in her notebook and got ready to go to work.
SPOILER!!: Recipe
Ingredients
2 eggs (whites only), use the yolks for something else
1/2 tsp. (2.2g) of vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. (2.2g) of almond extract
3 tbsp. (41g) of vegetable oil
8 tbsp. (62.5g) of flour
1 1/2 tsp. (4g) of cornstarch
1/4 tsp. (1.5g) of salt
8 tbsp. (100g) of sugar
3 tsp. (15g) of water
Steps
1. Make fortunes, use the shrinking charm reducio to make the parchment small enough to fit into the cookie.
2. Using your wand heat preheat the oven.
3. Combine all the ingredients and mix well until dough is smooth.
4. Place tablespoons of batter onto a cookie sheet, space them around 2 inches apart.
5. Bake for fifteen minutes or until golden brown.
6. Remove cookie and place parchment in the middle, fold the cookie over.
7. Form into fortune cookie shape.
8. Place cookies into a muffin tin to hold their shape. Let cool for ten minutes.
9. Decorate if you like.
It appeared that the first step would be to make the fortunes smaller so they could be placed inside the cookies. Jasmine laid her three fortunes out on the counter in front of her. Then she picked up her wand and pointed it at the first piece of parchment. "Reducio", Jasmine said as she watched the message shrink to a more miniature size. When it looked small enough, she said, "Finite" and the parchment stopped shrinking. Jasmine repeated the process with the other two pieces of parchment. OK, her fortunes were all ready to go. Now she was ready to start making the cookies.

Algamus would help the ugly studentsies. Yesm, that was what he would do. But not for them, for the Headmistressie. She was the bestest Headmistressie who would want him to help the ungrateful studentsies who were making his kitchen a mess. And the other house elvsies were helping.
SQUINT. STARE.
They would help the studentsies. Who wanted Algamus' help? He would help. Or tell the studentsies what they were doing wrong. Helpfully.

Step one was completed now, and Sophie had three, perfectly-sized fortunes ready to be stuffed inside a cookie. She turned her attention back to the directions and read the next step in the process. Sophie began pre-heating the oven, and while that was in progress, she read the next step in the directions.
She spent the next bit of time carefully measuring out all the ingredients. When she had the right amount of each ingredient, she began mixing them all together. Egg whites... Vanilla extract... Almond extract... Vegetable oil... Flour... Cornstarch... Salt... Sugar... Water... Sophie double checked that she'd added in each and every ingredient, and when she knew she had, she grabbed a hold of a nearby spoon. Time to mix things together.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Now Adi would start shrinking the three pieces of parchment. He set the Gemini fortune down in front of him. "Reducio!'' The parchment started to shrink. After it had shrunk to an acceptable size, he stopped the spell using Finite.
The Hufflepuff repeated this step for the remaining two parchment. The firststep was complete! What was next? Adi glanced at the instructions. Preheat the oven. Noooo problem.

Alright so now that all that fortune writing business was taken care of... O___O They actually had to make their own? What was this obsession with cooking about people? Might as well change it to Hogwarts School of Baking and Sometimes Wizardry. First muggle studied and now in divination too?
Was there a way they could do something he was actually good at because the kitchen just was his element okay? With that in mind, the third year knew he needed a partner for this activity. One that was older and wiser and stuff. Zander looked around the room very carefully. He was on a hunt! AHA Mr. Group Leader Grayson looked available! Which was kind of funny because wasn't Sophie Newell taking this class too? Anyways. No Sophie Newell, we NEED this guy more than you do. Seriously.
Watching the other tables as he went, Zander made his way up to the fourth year in mention. "Heeeeey, Grayson wanna partner up?" Because he was desperate okay. Major new of a partner here and last time he checked Grayspn hadn't set his muggle studies pizza on fire. So he would do. Whaddaya say Grasyon? Pleeeeeaaasseee?

EEEP! It was time to get started.
Usually she worked with Bay when there were classroom activities, but since he was still in the hospital ward Lux would do this on her own. She didn't mind in the least because this was a great way for her to work on her baking skills!
The first thing she should do is make sure that all the ingredients were gathered. Professor Cassie and the house elves had done an amazing job setting everything up, but sometimes things were forgotten! Looking back and forth between the recipe cards and the items on her table, she saw that nothing was missing.
Well.... since he was asking.
Pips looked confused for a second and pulled his ears tightly. The studentsie wanted Pips to find her a cookie without baking. "Oh no missus Pips can't just give you a cookie. Pips can help you bake the cookie."
Yes Pips would love to help her make the cookies. He glanced to Missus Cassie, she wouldn't be happy if Pips just gave the cookie.
"Pips can do that." He stuck his finger up and hurried away coming back with some peanuts in a jar. "These are salty."
Ascanius just jotted down a few different fortunes, y'know, for the cookies, but made sure to keep them to himself. A few of them he thought were amusing. Some that said things like m'stuck in a fortune cookie factory, help and others like you will find true love in the middle of the frozen tundra, no where else...good luck.
And then, with a smirk, he drew out his wand, "Reducio." Each of the strips grew smaller and then he put them to the side.
Next he went and collected all of his ingredients. He wanted to finish this as soon as he could, yeah?

What.
Wasn't that what House Elves were for? To bake studentsies cookies? Zahra sighed and found herself also tugging on her ear, like ole PIPS there.
And peanuts? Man.... Zahra was thinking LASAGNA or maybe a cheese burger. Ah oh well. Peanuts it was! Zahra ate a handful right away.
".... well, alright. Fine. We'll bake and junk, but listen.... it's in my genetics to not be very good at this and I'm TOTAL rubbish at potions, and cooking is just like potions, you know? I want cookies that are actually GOOD to eat. So what I'm getting at is, I'll hand you junk? And you make the magic cooking baking happen. Deal?"
Pips moved to the next table and filled the studenties cup.

I am just sooo impressed on how much you all know already. Its a wonderful thing to come in and hear you all jump to answer questions. With that being said she pulled her own little stack of parchment cards towards her. Everyone had the greatest ideas, but the ones that said about Astrology were right on for what we are going to look at today. Now we talked and learned about Astrology last class, so Im not going into any details this time with that. She pointed to the Zodiac chart again, What I want to really focus on is this chart. Mostly muggles, but some wizards enjoy horoscopes, myself included. They are fun ways to see predictions into your present and future. They are usually vague like I spoke about before and can be interrupted in many different ways. The example of an obstacle hopefully was still in their minds.
She sorted out the card on the table in alphabetical order; Aquarius, Aries, Capricorn, Cancer, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Pisces, Sagittarius, Scorpio, Taurus, and Virgo. Now we are going to be making fortune cookies today, but first before we even think about making the actual cookie, we will have to make the fortune. So what Id like you to do is look at the horoscopes that I have come up with using Astrology charts. Pick three different Zodiac signs and make three different fortunes based on the horoscope. Did that make sense? Well she was going to give an example if it didnt. So Im going to pick up Leo and read the horoscope. She carefully read the horoscope over and smiled, This one is perfect, see here how it says you could be a giant wrecking ball thats anxious to break down existing walls. Well that could be anyone of us. Show of hands, who is tired of being stuck in this castle and would love to break down the walls to get outside? See how easy a horoscope can be true she thought to herself. On my parchment I might write, Adventure can be found anywhere. Look around and dont be afraid to find some. This way they could interpret it as finding something fun today in the castle not just focusing the energy on breaking the wall down.
Take about ten minutes to make three fortunes. Share the cards that I laid on each table. It doesnt matter which three Zodiac signs you use, just please try to make the fortune based off what you read in the horoscope. Dont just make up silly and not relatable things. She started walking around the room in case there were any questions.
Ooc: In two posts have our charries pick three different zodiac signs and write three different fortunes (1 for each sign) Im going to move the lesson on tomorrow evening EST. If you dont get the two post in by then dont freak you can still post, I just want to keep the lesson moving smoothly and timely!
Awesome! They were gonna make their own fortunes but as he was copying down he saw the house elf filling up his hot coco cup. He smiled and told him, "Thank you.." and then sipped it. Yuummyyy it was SO good. He now understood the activity and figured out which fortunes to use! He wrote down all the star signs and then picked one at random. He used the eeny meeny miny moe method because that was the most reliable one. He saw what he pointed to and saw it was Virgo! Alright what was he gonna write for Virgo? Lets see.....
With his wand out, he turned to the oven and preheat it really quickly. Not a huge deal and real simple magic, yeah?
Then next he took all of the ingredients and began to mix 'em up together. They weren't the easiest things to make nice and smooth. He blamed the flour.
With a lot of effort and some passage of time...he was done.
Really quickly he looked over and checked the oven. Making sure that it was starting to get hot. That was good.
Perfect. This was seriously easy and smooth sailing/cooking.

Looking at the recipe, Lux could see that the first step required shrinking the parchments the fortunes were on so that they could fit inside the cookies. Made a lot of sense and didn't seem to be complicated.
She was so happy that she had drastically improved when it came to her spell casting. Maybe soon she could start trying to master non-verbal spells. Defence Against the Dark Arts had really made her think about it.
Picking up her wand, Lux pointed it at the first fortune she had made and with a 'v' motion called out, "Reducio!" Doing the same thing for the other two fortunes, she was ready to move on to the next step. With her wand, she preheated the oven.

Jasmine was ready to move on to the next step. Taking out her wand, she turned on the oven and then set the temperature so that it could begin heating. She glanced at her notes and realized that it was time to start gathering the ingredients. First though, she needed bowls, a spoon, a measuring cup and measuring spoons. Once she had all of her equipment, Jasmine was ready to start with her ingredients.
Jasmine gathered all of ingredients and spread them out on the counter in front of her. Picking up an egg, Jasmine cracked it and began to separate the white from the yolk. She poured the egg white into the big bowl and the yolk into a small bowl. Then she repeated the process with the second egg.
Next Jasmine measured out all of the wet ingredients one by one. Vanilla and almond extracts, vegetable oil and water. As she measured each one, she poured them into the bowl. Now Jasmine measured out the flour, cornstarch, salt and sugar and added them to the bowl. Picking up a spoon, she stirred all the ingredients together and mixed them until they were well blended and the dough was smooth. Satisfied that everything was mixed properly, Jasmine checked her notes for the next step.

Lucy pointed her wand at the three pages of parchment..

Lucy thought that the fortunes were small enough..
She muttered:" Ok, now I have to take the ingredients of my cookies!!"

Pips was a good elf see? He knew Missus would be mad if he did the work for the studenties, but he could help and help was what Pips did.
Though the girl looked not happy, "Is Missus not happy with Pips? Pips upset the Missus?" Pulling on his ears. He had been a bad elf saying no. He shouldn't have said no.

Taking the bowl he started adding the ingredients and mixing.
"Pips needs flour, Toddles had the flour." Where had Toddles put the flour?
Toddles really wanted to have fun with the studentsies but they were all having fun on their own. Didn't they know how much fun he could be and still be helpful? He was a good elf, but he was a fun elf too. He really wanted to stick his elfsie fingers into one of the bowls and be a taste tester. Make sure the recipe was being followed correctly.
He was just about to sneak his finger into one of the older girl's bowl (Jasmine's) when he heard his name. Oh, Toddles could help with! "Toddles knows where the flour is, Toddles will get the flour." It wasn't quite as tasty as sugar but it was just as much fun to play with. He scurried over to the counter where he had set down the big bag and he hoisted it up, headed back to Pips and the studentsie he was helping. "Here it is!" He set it down on the girl's (Zahra) table, right in front of her, with a thump, sending a large cloud of flour puffing out of the top of the bag.

Pips is a brain damaged elf, more like. But Zahra wasn't going to say as much. INSTEAD she PETTED the elf right on his droopy ear and slung an arm around his puny neck. GOOD OLD PIPS, DOING HIS JOB AFTER ALL.
"Can I lick the bowl when you're done? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease?"

Looking around, Sophie spotted a spoon nearby and stuck it into her mix. She began stirring it to get the mixture good and blended. She kept watch on things, and when the dough was smooth, she removed the spoon. She quicklt cleaned it then placed it back where she found it. She then collected a tablespoon and began spooning the batter onto a cookie sheet. She eyed each piece, making sure it was two inches apart from the one next to it.
When every last bit of the batter was on the cookie sheet, Sophie cleaned the tablespoon and put it, too, back where she found it. Now it was time to do the baking. Sophie looked at the oven and saw it was now the right temperature. She slid the cookie sheet in, closed the oven door, and began timing.

And here was the part she dreaded the most. Having to actually make the cookies. When it wasn't a daunting place, the kitchen was a tedious one. There was no winning for the Gryffindor and thus no joy to be had in the kitchen but she didn't grumble about it because Professor Smiles might hear the tail end of it and wanna know what she was on about. Nothing she'd be willing to share, that's for sure.
Being so active it would have been hard taking sips every time she found she had something to say but this class couldn't last forever. Lex wouldn't be stuck cooking for too long. Even the thought was a distasteful one.
First order of business as she decided would be the gather up the ingredients together at her work station. Most of it was already there or within close enough reach. Anything that wasn't she swiped when the next guy wasn't looking. All this so she wouldn't actually have to move.
Clever.

Angel looked around to see if she could see AJ, because she thought about seeing if her sister wanted to partner her, they hadn't worked together for ages and it seemed like her sister was already busy, so she'd probably have to do this herself.

Angel smiled as she read what she had to do, well she had already done the fortunes and now she just had to find her wand so that she could reduce the size of the fortune that she had written.
