Just as the fortune cookies said on the notice board, the kitchen is where the next Divination class was being held. With the Divination Tower so cold Professor Cassie wanted a warmer place and possibly a happy and fun lesson to bring some warmth to the students.
Setting on a tray right at the door, Cassie had the house elves make enough hot chocolate for all the students. The house elves that had agreed to help during this lesson, since Professor Cassie knows nothing about ovens, cooking, or baking, are busy getting everything ready.
As you enter the kitchen you will find that there are chairs around the tables for a work space. You will also find a familiar snap cup sitting near where Professor Cassie is standing. Remember what to do? If not there is a parchment with the instructions just like last time.
Quote:
Once you find a seat at one of the tables pull out a piece of parchment and write one thing that you are proud that you have done or someone else has done today. Then come forward and place it into the cup. Head back to your seat and enjoy the hot chocolate!
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
The inevitable had finally come to pass. With that last gulp, Alexa was through with her hot chocolate and her insides were getting cold from the sudden heat withdrawal. This needed fixing, it did, but it'd take her getting another cup of the stuff. Lex spun her head in a few directions, trying to find a reasonably close house elf but her attention was drawn back to the Professor at the sound of her name. A cat? No, just an Astronomer, though she'd hardly be saying that so she sat a bit straighter in her seat as if to show the woman now had her undivided attention.
If you asked her there were enough responses to allow for her silence and she thought it could have gone unquestioned, but it seemed the Professor had a question for her specifically. "I have Professor." Three words. Now way could one get in trouble for those.
At that she turned, realizing her opportunity for a fresh cup was within reach. "I'll have one." She informed the elf before snatching one from the serving tray. There, the world was in perfect order once more and her sipping motion could continu--
EHHHHH???
Sweet Merlin someone tell her the woman did NOT just say they'd be baking. This WAS Muggle Studies all over again except with no Lottie to do the work for her. Yeah...no, she didn't know how to make those things. This wouldn't end well.

Caleb had NO idea how they could possibly make fortune cookies real. He really didn't care, to be honest. Tea leaf readings were one thing, but pieces of paper in cookies - nah, he didn't put any stock in it.
But COULD they be accurate?
He raised his hand. "Maybe if you enchanted parchment to react to the DNA of the person? So it could tell a bit about you and make it more...personalized?" he suggested. It sounded far fetched, but crazier things had happened in the wizarding world...

Pips big watery eyes turned to Algamus as he spoke, "Pips is a good elf, Pips cleans up the mess." He wasn't a bad elf, no he was taking care of things. He glanced up at Missus again and a wave of nerves came over him.
hiccup hiccup hiccup hiccup hiccup hiccup
"Yes Missus Pips will get to the hot chocolate, Pips will do a good job at that." Grabbing the container of hot chocolate Pips moved around the room.
"More Hot Chocolate?" He asked the studenties just as the Missus had said.
Kace heard the house elf Pip was it? Yup it was him and he wanted more hot chocolate. He was out and wanted a fresh glass. He raised his hand and said to the little guy, "Hey I want some please?" he asked politely. Then he heard the professor laugh at his response. He was glad he made her day. It is what he aims to do. Then he paid attention to her lecture and made a couple notes.
But now he had a theory for the muggle and wizarding world. "Professor I think in the muggle world for fortune cookies, they might have a random generator and just put random fortunes in the cookies. But in the wizarding worldl like Simon said, I think there is a charm used." He was gonna stick with his fellow friends theory. It seemed logical to him.

Merlin. POOP the fortune out?! Someone please take this girl away.
... Dear Merlin....
But ooh hot chocolate? Zander watched as the hiccuping elf made his way around the room. As the elf came around his table the Gryffindor waved his hand at him. "I'd like another please!" Poor house elves doing so much work. And the other one was just cleaning up in the middle of the room. The third year sent a smile towards him because wow, they were pretty hard workers, those elves.

Spot on! His answer was spot on!
A moment to be proud of himself? YES PLEASE.
The moment was short-lived when he heard the sound of the house elf's question. More hot chocolate? "Yeah, some for me too," Pause. "Please?" Because he had manners somewhere deep deep down inside him and he was told that if you needed something from someone, manners worked well. And charm. Two very important things.
What Grayson was taking from this discussion was that fortune cookies weren't that accurate. They didn't read your birth chart or Astrology sign or whatever so they knew absolutely zilch about you. And fate? That was still a bit wholly, wasn't it? Fate. He didn't care much for it, or knew too much about it, sooooo the fifteen year old shrugged it off.
As for the question, he was going to go with what Simon had said because it was SMART. "I agree with what Simon said. A spell would be dead useful for something like this. It'd be individual to you, yeah? Maybe THAT's why you have to take a bite of the fortune cookie first." Or touch the piece of paper inside and then wait a couple of seconds for your fortune to generate?

So the professor was seriously going to toss the cookie?! AWESOME! At least it'd be Cutty cleaning the crystal balls. Sophie just got to sit back and enjoy all the fun and pay nothing for it. Thanks, Cutty! Sophie laughed a little as the cookie was caught and Zahra wished Cutty well in cleaning the crystal balls. Heh. Well, now. There was a little extra fun thrown into class.
Now class was getting serious again as questions and information was thrown out left and right. How could fortune cookies be more exact? Hmm. "Maybe we can associate certain cookies with certain astrological signs?" she suggested. "Then you can eat a cookie assigned to your astrological sign and maybe get a better prediction."
Fortune cookies were good. Hazel listened closely to the professor, taking sips of her hot chocolate. Yum! This turned out to be a pretty good class! She raised her hand once her professor stopped talking.
"I agree that a spell or charm would be useful for this purpose, but couldn't there be certain fortunes that are better than others? Like, you can say something on the fortune that could be interpreted in different ways so it's believed to always be true for everyone. It's not exactly predicting, but it could help anyway." She set her hand back down and couldn't help but notice how cute the little house elves were. This sure beats tea leaves!

Marigold wriggled in her chair. She liked cookies. Plus, house elves. They were cute. But forTUNES? She wrinkled her nose. She usually just threw those away. The cookie was the good part. But fortune-telllllling was different.
Maybe there was a sort of fingerprint recognition scanner? She didn't know if that was common in the wizarding world (especially for food), and she didn't know how much the professor knew about muggles, so she just said, "Fingerprint match thingy."

She knew her students would just have the best answers and she gave a little snap when she made the cookie into Zhara’s mouth. “Mr. Cutty I’ll see you later today to get started on the Crystal Balls.” She gave him a smile before pointing to the first student that had their hand up.

She couldn’t help but beam at Simon, the first to answer and what a great answer it was. Looking to Ethan who agreed and Grayson who brought up charms she gave them all snaps. “Very good, Wizards have used charms on Fortune cookies before, but you have to know which charm and it has to be specific or you will get the wrong information to a person.” Looking to Kace she nodded, “Very good, though the generator I’m not sure. I think it’s more they have just random fortunes and whichever you get you get.” Hazel had a fantastic question and got snaps as well. “That’s exactly what it does. The majority of fortune cookies are vague, which means they could be interpreted in different ways. If I were to say a fortune for this room is you will find obstacles in your path today. Every single person could find one thing that could seem like an obstacle for today, which would make that fortune true.” So vague was better when it came to some of these, yes. Listen to Caleb she nodded, “You are correct, wizards do use the enchantment to go with specific fortunes and wizards getting them.” Way to be thinking, bravo to all of them.

The twins seemed to have very close answers and they got snaps as well, “Just as Mr. Kace and Miss Hazel mentioned, they are more random and vague to fit a larger population. How could fortune cookies be more accurate? Maybe if the fortunes were for your zodiac sign. The professor had mentioned that the would be using zodiac signs today, and had said that the restaurants do not know your astrology signs. Penelope knew what her zodiac sign was. She was a Cancer. "Maybe it would be more accurate if the fortune was for your zodiac sign, and more accurate if it was based off your birth chart?"

You could still have the vague to attract a larger population to those signs, but you could make it more personal for an individual person. Their personalities come out with their signs, so if you have an Aries eat an Aries inspired cookie, they are going to find a more relatable fortune.” Wonderful job, just wonderful.

Some people had said that using general saying could work, but as far as her understanding went that was what a lot of fortune cookies did anyway. And going off of Zodiac signs was more accurate but still a little up in the air. Birth charts had to be more accurate. Yep, she was going with birth chart.
Not that she REALLY held with that stuff. Hers hadn't been very accurate at all.
“Yes Lux, very good. If you know a lot about a person you can certainly make their fortune more accurate. So if you are making the cookies for just a small group you could make their birth charts and find out more about them.” It was a longer way around it, but a great idea all the same.

She just stopped and blinked at the lady lion a few times. “You certainly think out of the box, don’t you.” Zhara got snaps. The girl was interesting, but she was certainly one to dance to her own beat and Cassie appreciated that. “If there were a charm that could help paper not be fully digested and that anyone would even want to touch it after it had made its way through, then yes that could be a way to be more accurate.” It was a thought, disgusting, but no matter a real thought that Cassie wasn’t going to ignore, but she was going to try and just move on. No one wanted to think of poop in a kitchen.

…and there was the distraction she needed, Miss Cambridge. She made her way towards the girl, “Good, I’m glad. So if you’d like to share any knowledge about the subject that would be wonderful.” Participation was certainly a part of their grade and sitting quietly not really seeming to pay attention wasn’t a way to earn those participation points.
Turning back to the entire class and making her way to the main counter she gave a few more snaps of encouragement. “Wonderful answers all of them. I am just sooo impressed on how much you all know already. It’s a wonderful thing to come in and hear you all jump to answer questions.” With that being said she pulled her own little stack of parchment cards towards her. “Everyone had the greatest ideas, but the ones that said about Astrology were right on for what we are going to look at today. Now we talked and learned about Astrology last class, so I’m not going into any details this time with that.” She pointed to the Zodiac chart again, “What I want to really focus on is this chart. Mostly muggles, but some wizards enjoy horoscopes, myself included. They are fun ways to see predictions into your present and future. They are usually vague like I spoke about before and can be interrupted in many different ways.” The example of an obstacle hopefully was still in their minds.
She sorted out the card on the table in alphabetical order; Aquarius, Aries, Capricorn, Cancer, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Pisces, Sagittarius, Scorpio, Taurus, and Virgo. “Now we are going to be making fortune cookies today, but first before we even think about making the actual cookie, we will have to make the fortune. So what I’d like you to do is look at the horoscopes that I have come up with using Astrology charts. Pick three different Zodiac signs and make three different fortunes based on the horoscope.” Did that make sense? Well she was going to give an example if it didn’t. “So I’m going to pick up Leo and read the horoscope.” She carefully read the horoscope over and smiled, “This one is perfect, see here how it says you could be a giant wrecking ball that’s anxious to break down existing walls. Well that could be anyone of us. Show of hands, who is tired of being stuck in this castle and would love to break down the walls to get outside?” See how easy a horoscope can be true she thought to herself. “On my parchment I might write, Adventure can be found anywhere. Look around and don’t be afraid to find some. This way they could interpret it as finding something fun today in the castle not just focusing the energy on breaking the wall down.”
“Take about ten minutes to make three fortunes. Share the cards that I laid on each table. It doesn’t matter which three Zodiac signs you use, just please try to make the fortune based off what you read in the horoscope. Don’t just make up silly and not relatable things.” She started walking around the room in case there were any questions.
Ooc: In two posts have our charries pick three different zodiac signs and write three different fortunes (1 for each sign) I’m going to move the lesson on tomorrow evening EST. Simon proceeded to write down the tips that Morgan explained to the class. So they were going to write fortunes out based on three signs that they chose cool!
But which signs should he choose? He pursed his lips and then read the various descriptions for each. That didn't really help narrowing it down so then the boy decided to go with the three star signs that were compatible on his birth chart. Those would be Leo, Cancer, and Taurus.
Picking up those three, he began to read the description and tried to figure out a way to write a fortune for them.

Zander almost scoffed as he heard Professor Morgan trying to give Zahra's poop thing validity. Like really, what could possibly even go right with a poop fortune. But of course, she couldn't just flat out tell the girl it was dumb. She had to smile. Professor, Zander could volunteer to tell her what was truly meant because there was no actual way that she was even considering a poop fortune as an answer. Because really, poop of all things? Ugh. Suddenly, this hot chocolate wasn't all so appetizing anymore.
Setting the mug aside, he listened carefully to the next set of instructions. Welp, this class couldn't be anymore confusing. What did wrecking balls have to do with Zodiac signs? Nevertheless, the third year walked up and took a good look at all of the zodiac names. That one looked cool. The Sagit-sagi-sagitat-tarius one. That one. He probably read the paragraph about a million and two times. What the heck was that supposed to mean?
With a confused look on his face, the Gryffindor picked up his quill and began writing anyway.

Lux listened carefully as Professor Cassie responded to all the suggestions, and perked up when it was announced that the activity was starting. This sounded like fun, and Lux totally loved how Professor Cassie always had awesome activities for them to do. Professor Cassie was amazing.
Time for her to pick the signs. Gemini was an obvious choice because it was her sign. Cancer was obvious too because that was her compatible sign. Not according to her birth chart, but according to her because her Lion was a Cancer.
The third sign a was little hard to choose.
Spending a few minutes in trying to make up her mind, Lux finally settled on closing her eyes and going with whatever card her finger landed on.
Well she may not have given a smart girl answer she certainly entertained the professor. Alright. Cinna's jaw dropped to the floor like seriously. Chocolate dipped fortune cookies? Now Professor Morgan how exactly was she suppose to focus on the rest of the lesson thinking about these chocolate dipped fortune cookies. It was bad enough that she was sitting beside her boyfriend in the lesson. Now she had to go start thinking about a chocolate dipped cookie.
She was done. Her focus gone. She didn't even answer the next question, besides everyone had said all of the good answers already. But she really liked Kace's and Marigold's answers. She would have said something along those lines too.
Anyway now that she had somehow gotten her head back on. She listened for what the activity they were going to do. So they were baking fortune cookies! She listened okay they had to pick three signs and write a fortune based on their horoscope. She listened to the professor read the horoscope. She raised her hand quickly at the question of being tired of being inside. Because she was very tired of it.
Cinna decided on what three zodiac signs she was going to do. She picked Taurus because that was hers, Gemini because that was Bart's tehe, and sagittarius because she just picked it randomly. She read them. Yeah, she was formulating ideas already.

With one fortune written down, Zander hurried up to look at the descriptions again. Alright, this wasn't actually that bad. Now, which one would he choose this time? They all sounded so funny. And weird. And it was really hard trying to pronounce that sagi-tar-ri-ar-i-us-... Yeah. Point proven. Anyways, this time he decided to go with one that was less tongue twisting and such. If he was going to write the fortune, it would help to know how to say the sign right? Right. It had been decided.
Anyways, making his way back to his table, the Gryffindor held his quill in hand again. Alright... What would he do for this one? The third year just stood and thought hard for a couple minutes, before finally deciding on what to write down!

Leah was thinking of cookies and cookies only. They were going to make cookies! Well, fortune cookies, but all the same. Unfortunately, the fortune part came first. She had to choose the three signs wisely. Didn't want to get a difficult one and mess up.
Three.. That reminded her of her compatible signs. What were they again? Aries, Gemini and.. Pisces yeah. Leah went up to the table, picked up the three cards and read their descriptions.
Not bad. She just needed to play around with these horoscopes and make ideas.

AJ still wasn't sure if she believed in all of the future reading and fortune stuff, but she had to admit that it was kind of fun to mess with. At the very least, she never fell behind in this class. She also enjoyed her time spent in Professor Morgan's class. How could you not be in a good mood when she was constantly smiling?
What cards to pick? Aries was automatically picked because that was her sign. Hmmm... Cancer was picked because she remembered that it was compatible with her sign. Now she needed to pick one more. No other signs stuck out to her so AJ randomly picked Virgo. She just liked the sound of it, and that was a good enough reason as any.
So......... if Zahra caught the cookie in her mouth, ole Slytherin over there had to wash crystal balls all the live long day?
IT. WAS. ON. Unfortunately for that Slytherin Cutty, who was usually not all that annoying for a Slytherin, Zahra was REALLY GOOD at catching things in her mouth. Years of practice with Toussaint.
"OH SNAP!" Zahra yelled, or tried to. When you had a fortune cookie clenched in your teeth, there was only so much articulation you could do. She BIT DOWN and CRUNCHED CRUNCHED CRUNCHED the cookie. ....it had something funny about it going on, texture... but that didn't stop Zahra from saying, "HOPE YOU HAVE FUN CLEANING CRYSTAL BALLS!" Chew chew.... OH! RIGHT! PAPER! in the cookie! HAHA! Zahra had already chewed it to an unrecognizable mess, so she just went ahead swallowed.
Zahra felt like she ate a hairball, so yeahhhhh "YO. Me. Refill, please! And how about some marshmallows, too?"
It was too bad she only got one cookie thrown at her though. Professor Snappy had a whole big bucket of them. Why not share?

"....uhm......" her first thought was..."What if... you EAT the fortune paper, right... and when you poop out the paper, it's got a tailor-made fortune on it. Studenties wanted more hot chocolate and Pips was going to show he was a good elf. Yes Pips was a good elf. Hurrying along he moved towards the loud studentie first, "Hot chocolate missus" Pouring her more . Pips jumped a bit at her question and nodded eagerly "Pips gets marshmallows, Pips is a good elf"

Pips moved to the next table and filled the studenties cup.

The studenties were all so nice saying please. "Missus and Masters all saying please to Pips, Pips is a good elf" He poured the cup of hot chocolate before moving quickly to another studentie.
SPOILER!!: Grayson

Whatever. He agreed.
More studenties wanted hot chocolate and Pips was going to do that.
Hiccup hiccup hiccup hiccup
"Pips is here to get you hot chocolate" He poured the hot liquid in the cup.
Hearing the Missus words Pips knew it was almost time for them to get to more work. Was everything ready? He looked around the kitchen with his big watery eyes.
Penelope heard the Slytherin boy (Cutty) ask her why she hated wheat. She was shocked by this comment, and found it somewhat rude. It did not take much to trigger a dramatic mood swing in Penelope, and she had gone from feeling happy and bubbly to a confusing mix of anger and irritation. Confused by the mixed emotions, Penelope gave the boy an angry glare. What to say, what to say?
Cutty took the Ravenclaw's silent glaring as her thinking. Though the answer was quite simple as Professor Morgan had chimed in with an allergy as an explanation. It left Cutty more curious than before he'd asked his initial question. What would happen to someone if they ate wheat and were allergic to it?

IT. WAS.
As for Professor...Merlin, what was her name again? ... her question.. "....uhm......" her first thought was..."What if... you EAT the fortune paper, right... and when you poop out the paper, it's got a tailor-made fortune on it. I mean 'cause then the paper would have FIRST hand knowledge of what you were made of. YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT and all that. It'd just need some charms or whatnot and junk," so yeah, that was bloody brilliant. Throw this Lioness another cookie, she was ACING some Diviniation. WHO KNEW SHE HAD THE EYE? Haha!

Cutty's buggy brown eyes watched as the cookie landed straight into Kettleburn's mouth. In. Sane. His upper lip quivered in the beginning stages of a disbelieving sneer, but faltered as he realized he'd be in the North tower alone and possibly with access to paperwork. Was it cold? Yes. Why, yes. But the situation was ripe with potential.

QUOTE=Bazinga;11641534] Turning back to the entire class and making her way to the main counter she gave a few more snaps of encouragement.
If you don’t get the two post in by then don’t freak you can still post, I just want to keep the lesson moving smoothly and timely![/QUOTE]
With the sheet of parchment laid out in front of him, Cutty dipped his quill into his ink well and wrote down the name of one of the zodiac signs.

He grabbed a broom and dragged it behind him as he finally made himself present in front of the class. "Tippin shall help Toddles clear the mess!" He was mostly talking to Algamus but Tippin soon directed his attention to the professor. "Tippin is most helpful at tidying, Professor Missus. Tippin will be the quickest elf for yourself and the studenties." Promise.
Tippin to the rescue, and all that.
Someday, Cutty would make a point to own as many house elves as his budget would allow. He liked the broken way they spoke and how they couldn't go far enough to please you.

If you've been feeling a bit neglected as of late, remember to show gratitude toward your most forgiving friends and family. It could be that you're not giving what you wish to receive. In either case, remember to love yourself instead of trying to scurry about and make it right for others.
Cutty read the horoscope over one more time. Hopefully, his teacher would understand his interpretation as that seemed to be what she was asking for. He rummaged through the cards and found Taurus and Pisces.
Lucy listened the instructions of the Professor.
She know what signs to choose: Capricorn, her sign,Gemini the sign of her father and Taurus the sign of mom!
In a short time she could embrace her family!
Then she decided to write for the Capricorn her first message.
Thinking about the horoscope that she had read and about her shyness in taking the first step she wrote

Adi grinned. He had no idea would be so close to whatever activity Professor Morgan had planned for the lesson. But he was pleased with himself. Divination, much to his surprise, was turning out to be a great and fun subject. Turning his attention to Pips, Adi gave the elf a friendly smile. "That you are. Thanks a ton.'' He took a sip of the fresh hot chocolate. Delicious!
Activity time! They were actually going to make fortune cookies! This was so awesome. Adi listened to the instructions. Right. He could manage that. Randomly he selected Gemini, Libra and Pisces cards. Time to write fortunes.

Leo, Cancer, and Taurus.
He'd start off with Leo. After reading the message of one of the cards, Simon picked up a quill and began writing. He pursed his lips and frowned. This was sort of a sad fortune to the boy.
SPOILER!!: Leo
Don't wait for change, it may take years. Seize life. Be the change you wish to see in the world.
Simon moved on to Cancer's fortune. He read it, picked up his quill, and began writing. He smirked as he read it- amused by its fortune. Was the message simply: "Don't be afraid to be different?" He continued writing.
SPOILER!!: Cancer
It takes a lot of bravery to be unique. Don't let others bring you down. Everyone's unique in their own way.
Okay now he had to do one more. Taurus. He picked up the fortune and read it. Despite being a Gemini, that fortune was sort of kind or relevant to him. With a quill in his left hand, he wrote a brief summary on a piece of parchment.
SPOILER!!: Taurus
Worries may shackle you down to the bottom of the sea but do not fret. Learn to take a deep breath and let go of your worries as well as others. It's not worth over-worrying about their issues. You've got plenty of your own.
He chuckled and then glanced up to wait for the next step.
Now that she had picked what zodiac signs she was going to work on she reread them. She didn't understand this horoscope thing for Taurus. It was hers. She shrugged it off Starting with Taurus, she wrote on her parachment:

Next she took another parchment out. Reread the Gemini message. Well now this one sounded so depressing. Kinda. Poor Geminis feeling unloved. She felt like she was going to have to love on her Gemini after this lesson. But for those who didn't her to love on them. She wrote this message:

Jasmine just could not come up with a different and innovative answer to the Professor's question. How to make fortune cookies more personalized and accurate........drawing a blank. Deciding to sit this one out, she listened carefully to all of the suggestions that her classmates made.
When it was time for the main activity, Jasmine was ready. Professor Cassie explained what they would be doing and Jasmine tried to put her creative hat on. First though, she had to choose three zodiac signs to work with. Should she pick them randomly, based on the horoscope, or based on something more significant?
After giving it much thought, Jasmine decided what she would do. She would choose Aries because that was one of her compatible signs. Next would be Libra because that was her mother's zodiac sign. Finally, Jasmine chose Virgo because that was the sign of the person who was the most special to her. Taking a moment to read each horoscope, she thought about possible fortunes. Taking out her parchment and quill, Jasmine began to scribble down some notes.

Ohh, so she was right! Awesome! Sophie loved it when she was right. She felt a rush of pride swell through her as she listened to the rest of the directions. So all they needed to do was choose three astrological signs and make up a fortune for each one? Cool. She could do that.
Sophie randomly chose Pisces, Aquarius, and Scorpio. She began with Pisces and read the horoscope for it. As she read, she tried to pick up one overall theme she could focus on.
Notes
Pisces - focuses on breaking away from current commitments and become free of the burdens of them.
Now on to Aquarius. Sophie turned her attention to the horoscope for Aquarius read it, and then added to her notes.
Notes
Pisces - focuses on breaking away from current commitments and become free of the burdens of them.
Aquarius - focuses on opening yourself up to new ideas and possibilities and feeling differently about them than before.
Finally, she did the same with Scorpio.
Notes
Pisces - focuses on breaking away from current commitments and become free of the burdens of them.
Aquarius - focuses on opening yourself up to new ideas and possibilities and feeling differently about them than before.
Scorpio - focuses on widening your opinion of the world around you to see things you may not have seen before.
Well, that was that then. She had all the information she needed and could now create her fortunes.
