Default Divination Lesson 2, In the kitchen

Just as the fortune cookies said on the notice board, the kitchen is where the next Divination class was being held. With the Divination Tower so cold Professor Cassie wanted a warmer place and possibly a happy and fun lesson to bring some warmth to the students.

Setting on a tray right at the door, Cassie had the house elves make enough hot chocolate for all the students. The house elves that had agreed to help during this lesson, since Professor Cassie knows nothing about ovens, cooking, or baking, are busy getting everything ready.

As you enter the kitchen you will find that there are chairs around the tables for a work space. You will also find a familiar snap cup sitting near where Professor Cassie is standing. Remember what to do? If not there is a parchment with the instructions just like last time.

Quote:
Once you find a seat at one of the tables pull out a piece of parchment and write one thing that you are proud that you have done or someone else has done today. Then come forward and place it into the cup. Head back to your seat and enjoy the hot chocolate!

Ahhh. THE ELVSIES HAD MADE A MISTAKE.

The Missus was going to be so upset. Oh no. The Headmistressie. She was going to be disappointed in Algamus. He was a bad Head Elf. Bad, bad, bad. What kind of leader elfsie couldn't keep things clean?

.....Theys were going to get in trouble now.

He squinted, "Yous clean up these messes. Yesm, right now. Bad elvsies." Algamus looked up at the Professor Missus, "Begging your pardon, missus. We clean up fast."

SPOILER!!: PROFESSOR

Watching Toddles for a moment she laughed as the flour went up again. “Oh toddles, could you please make sure to bring out some oat flour. I had asked about that earlier for some of our students.” She glanced towards Penelope, but there could be others she couldn’t be too sure. Now that that was taken care of it was time to get on with the student answers.

SPOILER!!: answers
SPOILER!!: Zander
As for the question, the Gryffindor raised his hand into the air because he actually did remember what the last lesson had been about. It was kind of engraved into his mind with all the pink fluffiness everywhere. He had nightmares for days. "We found our moon house and our sun house and used them to find people we were compatible with." Which was all nonsense because he didn't match with Bentley so it couldn't actually be real.
__________________

“Yes, yes very good Zander, we did find the moon and the sun houses. Looking that them we got to see what the houses said about our personalities.” She knew some didn’t believe them, but they would learn as they grew how much more the signs knew about them than they knew of their self. “ Very good, using the birth chart you did find other signs that were compatible.” She hoped they enjoyed that as much as she did. The lesson was so fun seeing Valentine Cards being given out.

SPOILER!!: Lux
Oh, they were getting started now. "I am doing awesome, professor Cassie. Thank you." And it was time for them to hear all of the proud moments, so of course she snapped along to each one. This was fun, and Lux liked to hear about all the things her classmates felt good about.

Raising her hand to answer the question, she said, "Last class we learned how to make birth charts." It had been a little hard to calculate, but she still had fun drawing hers. Even if it didn't describe her well at all.

Seeing another hand Cassie nodded towards Lux, “We did make our birth charts. I do hope you all keep them so you can look at them again and more in depth, there is so much we didn’t get to cover in that lesson.” She was sure it could be very helpful to everyone to know more about themselves.

SPOILER!!: Lucy
Lucy liked a lot the last lesson!
She had received many Valentine's card!
She smiled at her professor and she said:" we talked about the zodiac signs and we learned to read the biryhday chart!"

“Exactly Lucy, but it’s not a birthday chart, it’s just called a birth chart. Easily confused, but bravo for remembering. The zodiac signs are very important for today as well, so let’s remember them.” Yes they would be using them again.

SPOILER!!: Cutty!!
Wearing a sort of blank smile, Cutty snapped along with the Professor as she drew out the proud moments from some of the students. It made him glad his wasn't chosen. Some people might be able to guess what he meant. Part of the fun, but nonetheless he was glad to have his privacy at the moment. Typical Slyth.

There were so many house-elves scurrying about and one of them was hiccupping. Cutty guessed if any of them knew of any ways to spruce up his cup of hot chocolate Pips would be the one. Bless his...her? Cutty never really could tell the difference...subservient heart. He took a sip of his hot chocolate then put it down never to be brought to his mouth again. It was tasty. Smooth, rich, creamy, warm. Everything a quintessential and even superb hot cocoa should be, but he had long been over sweets in all their various forms. Occupational hazard.

Professor Morgan...Cassie was then asking them a question. And it was one of those I'm testing you kind of questions. His well-mittened up hand floated toward the atmosphere and he gave this response, "Western Astrology, Professor. All twelve of the Western zodiac signs and even got a bit deeper than that." But let someone else fill in the detail.

Looking towards another Slytherin, Cassie beamed. “Very good bringing up that it is Western Astrology and Zodiac Signs.” This one knew his stuff pretty well. She enjoyed that about her students. Always on the ball. It was amazing what they all knew.

SPOILER!!: Jasmine
Oh it was time for class to begin and that meant......Snaps cup time. Jasmine listened to all the things that her classmates were proud of. After that it was time to review what we learned during the last class. Jasmine had really enjoyed making her birth chart and the Valentine's cards.

Jasmine raised her hand to add her two cents to the conversation. "We learned about Venus the feminine symbol and Mars the masculine symbol. Then we checked our chart to find our compatible matches" Jasmine was still in a bit of disagreement about that, but........
__________________

Smiling at the older Ravenclaw Cassie was very excited on how much they all remember. “Wonderful memory Miss Jasmine. Venus is the feminine symbol that is more love and softness, whereas Mars is the masculine for war and energy.”

SPOILER!!: Angel
Angel raised her hand. "Professor we learnt about valentine day and who we should give a valentine card to." Angel had really thought it had been a bit mean picking people from a certain chart but well it had been cool and she had got to make a few nice valentine cards.

Looking towards one of the twins, Angel she was sure, she nodded a bit. “We did learn our lesson on Valentine’s Day, but not really about the day. Very good guess though. Wonderful that you remembered what day it was on.” She loved a good try from her students.

SPOILER!!: AJ
What happened last lesson was not going to be easy to forget because they made v-day cards. It was a nice touch even if it wasn't really AJ's style. Of course the professor was most likely leaning more towards the whole birth chart thing. "Professor, we learned that it's nice to show your appreciation with others." Yeah, she was still stuck on the whole making a card thing, but it was an answer.
__________________

Her smile turned into a bigger beam at Aubrey. “That is an excellent answer. Even though we were working with the signs and doing Divination, an underlying lesson was that we should show appreciation all the time to others and Valentine’s Day was just the day to do it. Two extra points for Gryffindor Miss Aubrey for finding that secret message in my lesson.” What a wonderful thing to say!

SPOILER!!: Adi
And class was starting! Adi turned his attention to Professor Morgan. Her snapping always amused him but he did enjoy listening to those proud moments. So what had he learnt? The boy raised his hand. "We learnt about ourselves using our birth charts, the moon and sun.'' So some of the interpretations that pertained to him weren't true...well, Adi didn't actually believe everything would be.

Turning to the younger Puff, Cassie grinned, “I hope you learned many things about yourself Mr. Adi with your birth chart and you are very right that is exactly what we did last lesson.” Wonderful answers all of them!

SPOILER!!: Grayson
Were they done? GOOD. What happened during the last lesson? WELL. The first thing to come to this Slytherin's mind was pink. Pink and glitter. Because that was what the classroom was FULL of. And it had been held on VALENTINE'S Day, of all days. That last thought gave the fifteen year old an idea sooooo, up went the hand in the air. "We had to make cards for people who have the same star sign as us." Or, you know, something along those lines.

Looking towards the star Gobstone player, Cassie nodded, “Very good, do you remember why the same star sign was important?” She had to question his memory further, what professor would she be if she didn’t get them thinking more.

SPOILER!!: Simon
Now they had to recap the past lesson. Uhh.. Alright. It happened on Valentine's Day. The room was WAY too pink for Simon's taste. They made Valentine's card. He flipped to his notes to find the exact details of what they did. He nodded his head in agreement with his fellow classmates as they brought up points too. Then Simon raised his hand. "Professor! We constructed astrological birth charts and we learned about different signs that were positioned in different 'houses' or slices o the chart and what that meant. For example, we examined the Venus and Mars signs and what that meant."

She watched the Slytherin open his notes, props to him for remembering you could always look back. There was no reason not to use resources right in front of you. Especially when it came to Divinations. “Excellent Simon, the birth chart and houses are very important to know about yourself and your personality. It can help find out about others as well.” This was making the Professor very happy, not that she wasn’t always very happy.

SPOILER!!: Griffin

"I'm alright," she said! looking around the room. Noticing some house elves bringing out flour, she said. "Will there be wheat free stuff for me?"

Sitting at her seat, Penelope snapped for all of the proud moments. She noticed the little house elf, Toddles, making puffs of flour come out of a bag of flour. If the house elf puffed more flour, she might have to leave the lesson to avoid clouds of flour.

What did they learn about at the last lesson? "We learned about astrology and zodiac signs. We made birth charts, and learned about what some of the planets in the houses of our birth charts mean for us."

“I do have wheat free so don’t worry about anything.” She grinned at the Ravenclaw. There was no reason to miss out on the fun just because of an allergy. “Very good Penelope, we did learn about astrology and Zodiac Signs with our birth charts. Wonderful answer.”

She had snapped for everyone’s answers, because they were all so wonderful. “I’m sooooo glad you have the best memories.” She headed around the room as she spoke so that everyone could hear her in their kitchen classroom. “Our last lesson was on Astrology. We looked at our birth charts and found out what are Moon and Sun houses were. Once finding them, we got to find out more about ourselves. Then we looked at compatible signs for our fun Valentine’s Day celebration. We will be using the Zodiac signs again, so please don’t forget them. There are twelve and they are based off certain days in a month. So if you were born on December 2 you would be considered a Sagitaruis, October 10 like me you would be a Libra.” She flicked her wand and the Zodiac poster from the classroom settled itself nicely on a cabinet for all to see.

“Now before we get fully started on our fun activity for today and why I called you into the kitchen and asked the house elves to join us. I would like you to tell me everything you know about this. " Holding up a fortune cookie the five foot blonde moved her wand and a container of cookies set up on the counter for all to see.

Emmylou didn't know whether or not if they had to write notes but she just felt like she should write down some notes here and there because she didn't know what she needed to know about this in the future. The third year took her notebook out and started to jot down some notes here and there as the professor spoke and whatever answers the students had answered correctly. Emmylou put her notebook away when Professor Morgan asked al of them a question.

Fortune cookie. Blink.

Were they going to be making fortune cookies? Emmylou was confused. She knew that fortune cookies had things to do with Divinations but were they going to make their own fortune cookies or something. Emmylou raised her hand. "Fortune cookies are oddly shaped cookies that have a little rectangular paper with some fortunes on it that's suppose to predict your future."That sounded about right, yeah?

Jasmine listened as everyone reviewed what they thad done during the last Divination class. And then a question from Professor Cassie. What did they know about the tasty treat in her hand?

Fortune cookies! Jasmine loved fortune cookies and Chinese food in general. When asked to tell what she knew about them, she tried to think of something that hadn't been mentioned and raised her hand. "Sometimes the slips of paper inside of fortune cookies have your lucky numbers written on them?"

The class had only just started and the devil child ahem, Zahra Kettleburn was already causing a disturbance. That girl. She always had to carry some sort of... challenge with her wherever she went. Though Zander could hardly believe it when Sophie had mentioned that she was the Minister's daughter, the girl just kept making it more and more difficult to imagine. How could the Minister help make this foul-- Ahem. Anyways.

Zander had been so focused on the scene before him that he hadn't even payed attention to the question. Right... Turning his gaze back unto the ever-so-cheerful professor he raised his hand eagerly. Sure he knew what a fortune cookie was! "Most have a list of numbers that are supposed to be your lucky numbers for lottery tickets!" Did wizards play the lottery too? Or was that a muggle exclusive thing? Meh. Whatever.

Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite

Lex saw it before it actually became a thing. She did and took a moment to just quietly sip her hot chocolate. It was a means of keeping her lips busy so she'd go with it. And another sip, then another while the others offered up responses. Lex, herself, knew what that thing was and from what she did know about it, she probably wasn't to be allowed to answer this question either. Nothing more than pseudoscientific hokum like Professor Airey had said while they were in the kitchen. He said that'd be the more acceptable response but even then, she just sipped.

Fortune cookies. Who came up with them anyway? One of the biggest scams in cuisine history and people didn't even see it. Shame it was, real shame.

Sad as things were, they got sadder when she realized that she was running through her hot chocolate faster than she'd hoped. Circe help her. Were they allowed a second cup...or was there some rule against that...like...it going against your sign or something....? She didn't know but something told her she didn't wanna know either so Lex simply slowed her sips.

Still nothing to say. Nope. No distractions from this Gryffindor.

Siiiiiip.

Extra points for Gryffindor? Awesome! AJ would take that any day. The professor got a genuine smile for that one. The lion noticed that professor Morgan seemed to have gotten hers and Angel's name right. Maybe she was never fooled in the first place, and just pretended to go along with her little scheme because she was just nice like that. Either way, the cat was out of the bag now, and she was kind of glad because she wanted to get credit for those extra points.

There were house elves right in her very reach, and she had to fight the urge not to snatch one up right now. As soon as she found out that they existed she had wanted one. They were sooo cute and dead useful. She had already talked to the creatures professor and apparently getting one of her very own was a no go, but maybe she could borrow one for the summer. AJ would totally bring him back. Hogwarts needed an adopt a pet program. Hearing Angel's name distracted AJ. What would Angel do? The brown eyed lion would love to see the professor toss the cookie into the older lion's mouth, and then we would see if Angel did whatever that other kid said.

She was not focusing, the professor had asked them a question. AJ looked up at the cookie. "It's a fortune cookie. You normally get them from Chinese restaurants." And they were pretty good. Of course there weren't many sweet things that AJ didn't classify as yummy. "You have to eat a piece of the cookie BEFORE you read your fortune or else it won't come true." That was what she had been told anyways.

Why was the same star sign important? Honestly? He had no idea. Not at all. So, he was going to jump right ahead and give the only smart answer he could think of. "Compatibility reasons? You're not exactly going to give a card to someone you don't get along with." See? Smart. He was SURE that that was probably what the answer was.

The snaps? Grayson nodded a little at her before taking a sip of his hot chocolate.

Thank Merlin that they were only using their star signs again and not the birth charts as a whole. Those had been enough to give him a headache. All those freaking LINES. And he had gotten severely annoyed when the meanings behind some of the signs being in particular houses didn't match up. Not confident in his skills. PSH. Yeah RIGHT.

The talk had moved onto fortune cookies, something that other people in the class had mentioned. So, he wasn't going to repeat what they had said. He did, however, remember a visit to a Chinese restaurant with the some of the other Whitlocks and so, THIS Whitlock had a question. "Professor? How accurate are they? Meaning to say, are they more accurate than using other methods of telling the future? Like crystal balls?" Because he had always thought that they were pretty random.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

Kevin had been watching the house elves more than actually paying attention to what the Professor was saying. He caught words of birth charts and zodiac signs but that was it. His attention was back however when he saw the zodiac poster settled itself on a cabinet and he looked at it for a moment before becoming bored again. Seriously, why be in the kitchens if they don't even get any food....WAIT! Seeing the container of cookies on the counter, Kevin became a bit more enthusiatic. Of course, he wasn't going to let that know. So instead of cheerfuly answering the boy merely shrugged his shoulders. "Food" he said, giving a lame answer. Well, it WAS food right?

Seeing two more student coming into the class, Professor Cassie eyed them with a soft smile. A couple most likely. Not that it mattered any, [b XD “Hello, I hope you are doing well. Staying warm?” If not there was plenty of hot chocolate. Looking at Cinna she fully grinned, “I am just wonderful. Of course how couldn’t I be with class today.” They were in for such a treat. She snapped as the young girl brought her parchment up, but eyed the boy who seemed to be just sitting. Well the snap cup wasn’t for everyone she supposed.

Looking at her watch Cassie knew it was time to get started. Just leaving the door open in case a student needed to come in late, she turned to the rest of the group. “Hello everyone, good afternoon! I hope you are all happy to be here. I know I am.” She snapped with enthusiasms. “The Divination Tower is just so cold that I thought we would find somewhere warmer and do a fun activity. First off let’s look at our Snap cup and get the positive vibe flowing through the room.”

She pulled out the first parchment, “I worked up the courage to do something that I have been putting off for a very long time.” She started snapping, “Snaps for courage!! Make sure you are snapping for your fellow classmates.” Snapping made the event even better. Pulling out another parchment, “I'm proud that I actually got up and went to this class. Really, really proud. PS. You look lovely today, ma'am.” She snapped again, “Snaps for getting up and thank you, I thought my Pink Snuggie and pink heels were just fab together.” Reaching her hand in she pulled out another parchment, “I'm proud of surviving this storm. Giving this one snaps she had to agree, “Snaps for surviving the storm. I think we all should do extra snaps for that.” They were all troopers being in the castle so much. One by one she pulled out the parchments and read the proud moments. Snapping after each of them. Once she was finished she vanished the cup. Snapping once more, “Bravo all of you, this was just wonderful. It’s great to get the positive filling the room before we start.”

Speaking of starting, the blonde moved to be in front of them. “You will see our wonderful elves working hard while we chat a bit.” She gave them one more glace. “Can anyone tell me anything about the last lesson we had? What did we learn about?” She knew the answer, but she wanted them to explain.

Hot Chocolate was good. Very good. Like a mug happiness. Thank goodness Professor Morgan had some here. She returned to the smile. "Managing too." She glanced over at Bart and grinned a little. "Thank you, for the hot chocolate Professor." Blankets and boyfriend cuddles worked just as good as hot chocolate.

She sipped on the hot chocolate and waited for class to start. Cinna really liked professor Morgan's happy spirt. Happy professors were so much better than meany faced stuck up professors. Not mentioning any any names here. Hehe snap cup time. Since someone couldn't snap. YES she couldn't snap. When she moved her fingers to snap it never made a sound. Though the snapping Cinna just snapped them no noise.

After the snapping was over. Professor Morgan asked about the last lesson. The third year raised her hand. "We worked on birth charts."

Cinna grinned, she knew she had a good memory. Oh yes she did. She remembered that lesson she really enjoyed it. She knew all of the zodiac signs. All 12 of them. She was a Taurus.

See..... Kitchen lessons always end up having food. CCCOOOOOOKKKKIIIEEESSS! Fortune cookies! "There fortune cookiessss. Packs of yummy deliciousness with a piece of paper with a fortune inside." Now she was hungry for Chinese food.

Toddles stopped walking mid-step as he heard the Missus talking to him. Oh, yes! He did remember that they needed special flour too and he could be a good and helpful little elf, getting the rest of the special ingredients. "Yes, Missus Cassie, Toddles will get the oat flour," he said happily. He wondered if that bag would make the same kind of puff clouds or special ones.

He started wandering that way when he stopped again, hearing the grumpy voice of Algamus again. Toddles wasn't a bad elf, was he? He was trying to be good. But there was a mess and he was being told to clean up. What to do, what to do? Did he listen to Missus Cassie and go get the special flour or listen to bossy head elf and clean up first? Such a dilemma and Toddles was confused. He pulled hard on his ears for a moment before scurrying off to go get the flour.

“It’s food.” Ethan said with a raised hand. “…and it must be delicious too.” Because cookie! Hello? Yeah, Ethan looked around, not really paying that much attention to what the others have to say. Besides, there was Simon who could always enlighten him when it comes to food and such.

He was, however, distracted with the house elves and wondered how Calen was doing. Mordred had their family house elf stay with his dad to keep him company while he’s in Russia. Calen was a tough house elf. The creature was only friendly to a select few. Ethan sipped on his hot chocolate once more and wondered, “Are we going to make Fortune Cookies today, Professor?”

The flour was a clue, yeah?

curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog

Fortune cookies? Caleb raised an eyebrow. Normally he was skeptical about this class, but he was REALLY skeptical about these. He raised his hand when she asked what they were, and he had a feeling that this lesson would revolve around baking them themselves...

"Those are fortune cookies, professor. They're supposed to tell your fortune by opening the cookie and reading the paper inside, and I think you have to actually eat the whole thing for it to come true. Lots of people thinks it's a Chinese ritual but I think it was actually created by the Americans who opened mass chain Chinese restaurants," he explained.

Yes, skepticism ftw.

Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something...

Cassie was expecting answers, but what she got took her off guard a bit. Her green eyes went to the louder student in the class that was pointing to her wide open mouth. She folded her arms and leaned against the counter for a moment. “It is a cookie very good.” Now for the throwing thing she had to chuckle a bit as she moved towards the girl. As she did she focused on Cutty, “She has an allergy Mr. Cutty and it is the reason I asked Toddles for the oat flour. I did bring some potion in case anyone else had the same allergy it will help so you can use the wheat flour, but if you wish not to use the potion you my use the oat flour once we get to the activity part.” Her face showed the amusement from Cutty’s next words. “It’s not very nice for you to say what other people will do, but I will take that as you will clean my crystal balls if I make it. “ Standing a table away she tossed the fortune cookie towards Zhara’s mouth. She wasn’t one to not enjoy a little fun, so why not.

“Now that will be the only cookie toss for now. If you all do well the rest of the time, maybe we can have some fun at the end.” She snapped excitedly and moved back to the front of the class listening to all the answers.

SPOILER!!: answers, question for Alexa, and House Elves
SPOILER!!: Angel
Angel smiled as she raised her hand. "Professor is that a fortune cookie?" Angel wasn't sure. "The Chinese give them out and apparently whatever the cookie says will happen." Angel wasn't sure if it worked or not but well they liked to do it and she wasn't going to tell them what they were doing was wrong. "So basically there's a little piece of paper inside with a message on like maybe it will say, your luck will change, or love is strong." Angel wondered if they were going to try and make some.

“It is a fortune cookie very good Angel.” Her smile widened at Chinese, this was exactly what she was hoping for. “They are usually given out at Chinese restaurants and do have little fortunes on them.” They would get the rest of what she said in a bit.

SPOILER!!: Lux
Oooh, more snaps. Lux liked those and she was happy that Professor Cassie was in a good mood too. It was so easy to see see that the Professor used to be a Puff because she had that friendly attitude that was common among Hufflepuffs. Lux loved her House, just not as much as she loved Gryffindor.

Seeing the cookie, she raised her hand right away. "That's a fortune cookie and it has a slip of paper inside it. The paper gives a prediction of your future." Or something like that. Honestly, she had never eaten one before but she had heard of them.
__________________

Her eyes turned to the Hufflepuff, “Correct Lux, Fortune cookies do have paper inside that sometimes gives predictions of the future.” Not all the time, but the traditional ones did at least.

SPOILER!!: Adi
Adi glanced at the thing Professor Cassie was holding. He knew what that was. he started to raise his hand but was distracted by Cutty. Angel would do what? Adi couldn't help but be amused. Seriously Cutty. You're always amusing this Puffer.

Adi now raised his hand. "It's a fortune cookie and it contains a slip of paper upon which the person who is in possession of it fortune is written.'' Fortune cookies were one thing he had serious doubts about.

She nodded as Adi chimed in with his answer. “Very good” The students were just on it today and she was so thrilled about this.

SPOILER!!: Kace
Kace was listening and heard what they learned in last lesson. He didn't feel he needed to repeat what his other classmates said. He remembered doing the whole reading and knowing his astro sign. It was a fun class. He enjoyed it. It was even fun to work with his buds. He heard the next question and saw the fortune cookie! He loved eating those! Wait a minute....were they gonna make those!? AWESOME!!

She wanted to know what he knew about them? Pshhh....he knew a lot! He raised his hand, "Professor that is a fortune cookie, it is supposed to tell your future or outcome. But sometimes the fortune are bologna. Like they give you really weird fortunes...But they do taste good!"

Cassie couldn’t help but laugh at Kace’s answer. It was very correct, but also a bit funny. “Yes Kace you are correct and you are correct about the fortune being bologna most of the time.” There were occasions that they were different, but that was what today’s lesson was going to show.

SPOILER!!: Sophie
SNAPS.

There were just SO. MANY. SNAPS.

Sophie didn't want to earn snaps. She wanted points, because points would get her a glorious CUP at the end of the school year. Well, her and the rest of the snakes. What had she learned last time? She started to raise her hand, but the lesson had moved on. BOOOO. She'd wanted to state how she'd learned how to map out the perfect boyfriend in a neat little birth chart. Only, the boy she had a crush on wasn't even in any of those signs.

Oh, well. He'd gotten a card AFTER class.

Sophie looked up at the display the professor was now asking about. "That's a cookie," she said, raising her hand, "and sometimes there's a little piece of paper inside that tells you your fortune."

“Very good Miss Sophie, it is a cookie that gives you a fortune.” Wonderful answers from everyone.

SPOILER!!: Emmy

Fortune cookie. Blink.

Were they going to be making fortune cookies? Emmylou was confused. She knew that fortune cookies had things to do with Divinations but were they going to make their own fortune cookies or something. Emmylou raised her hand. "Fortune cookies are oddly shaped cookies that have a little rectangular paper with some fortunes on it that's suppose to predict your future."That sounded about right, yeah?
__________________

She nodded and smiled, “They are rectangular shaped whereas the majority of cookies are circular.” Thought cookies didn’t have to be a certain shape, it was a known shape for these particular cookies.

SPOILER!!: Jasmine
asmine listened as everyone reviewed what they thad done during the last Divination class.

Oh yes a new answer, “Some do have lucky numbers to them. Very good. Any guess as to how they come up with these lucky numbers?” Just a side note really. Not important, but why not ask and keep their brains going with all this wonderful discussing.

SPOILER!!: Zander

Meh. Whatever.
__________________

“You are right some do play the lottery with this. Now for anyone who doesn’t know the lottery is a muggle activity where they give chance to numbers. “ She grinned towards the boy before moving on. Props for him knowing the muggle side of things.

SPOILER!!: Alexa

Siiiiiip.

She was very aware that the lion prefect was being extra quiet today. Good.. good her talk with Professor Flamsteed must have straightened everything out, but she did want the young lady to participate if she could. “Cat got your tongue today Miss Cambridge?” Grinning cheerfully at the child. “Have you ever had a fortune cookie before?” She seemed to be sipping through her hot chocolate fast. Maybe an elf could get her some more or any of the students if they needed it.

SPOILER!!: Aj
She was not focusing, the professor had asked them a question. AJ looked up at the cookie. "It's a fortune cookie. You normally get them from Chinese restaurants." And they were pretty good. Of course there weren't many sweet things that AJ didn't classify as yummy. "You have to eat a piece of the cookie BEFORE you read your fortune or else it won't come true." That was what she had been told anyways.
__________________

“It depends on which country you are in to get them at restaurants, but very good knowing this fact about them.” Wonderful what all they already knew about these fun little treats.
SPOILER!!: Lucy
..Fortune cookies..
Lucy said:" I know It's a Chinese food that contains a sentence or a rule to follow..
If you will follow this advice you will be a lucky in your live!"

“Wonderful answer Lucy, though you might find a few points about fortune cookies interesting here in a moment.” Oh this was exciting. They were all saying exactly what she wanted to hear.

SPOILER!!: Grayson
Why was the same star sign important? Honestly? He had no idea. Not at all. So, he was going to jump right ahead and give the only smart answer he could think of. "Compatibility reasons? You're not exactly going to give a card to someone you don't get along with."See?

He did, however, remember a visit to a Chinese restaurant with the some of the other Whitlocks and so, THIS Whitlock had a question."Professor? How accurate are they? Meaning to say, are they more accurate than using other methods of telling the future? Like crystal balls?" Because he had always thought that they were pretty random.
__________________

“Spot on Grayson.” The boy was very bright and of course the compatibility of our signs made all the different. She chuckled to herself at his question. “We will be discussing that in just a moment, but I’d say it depended on the place and how they went about them. Some are some are not.” She’d explain more in depth in a moment.

SPOILER!!: Kevin

“Yes, very good it is food, or well sort of.” She really didn’t consider cookies food, more treats, but some people probably did.

SPOILER!!: Cinna
Cinna grinned, she knew she had a good memory. Oh yes she did. She remembered that lesson she really enjoyed it. She knew all of the zodiac signs. All 12 of them. She was a Taurus.

See..... Kitchen lessons always end up having food. CCCOOOOOOKKKKIIIEEESSS! Fortune cookies! "There fortune cookiessss. Packs of yummy deliciousness with a piece of paper with a fortune inside." Now she was hungry for Chinese food.

Chuckling more at the excitement Cinna seemed to have for food though her table partner seemed to not be as excited she nodded, “They are yummy, though I find I like them better dipped in chocolate.” The other way was just too bland.

SPOILER!!: Ethan

Looking towards the slytherin she grinned, “It is food and many think they are delicious.” She liked them from time to time, so she could be ranked into that category she figured. “You will just have to wait and see now won’t you.” She gave him a little wink before moving on.

SPOILER!!: Caleb
Fortune cookies? Caleb raised an eyebrow. Normally he was skeptical about this class, but he was REALLY skeptical about these. He raised his hand when she asked what they were, and he had a feeling that this lesson would revolve around baking them themselves...

"Those are fortune cookies, professor. They're supposed to tell your fortune by opening the cookie and reading the paper inside, and I think you have to actually eat the whole thing for it to come true. Lots of people thinks it's a Chinese ritual but I think it was actually created by the Americans who opened mass chain Chinese restaurants,"

Glancing towards Caleb she nodded and laughed, “Very good, there is a misunderstanding on where they came from originally and what they actually mean. I’ve heard of the eating the whole thing as well, though I’ve seen it changed in different cultures.” Another myth that they would have to discuss later on in the lesson.

SPOILER!!: Simon
Fact first. Then opinion. "The inventor of the fortune cookie is a topic that is heavily debated in the culinary world," he began. That's what he learned from his Uncle who was a chef in Melbourne. He continued. "It has a slither of paper inside with some wise words about your 'future' on it." Though they weren't always true. It was more fun to make fun of them. But he wasn't going to say that allowed.

She couldn’t help the snap and claps that Simon got, “Very good Simon. It is debated about the invention of fortune cookies and I’m going to discuss that very shortly.” That was the perfect lead way into the rest of the discussion but first,

SPOILER!!: House elves

Bad elvsies." Algamus looked up at the Professor Missus,"Begging your pardon, missus. We clean up fast."

Her attention turned to the elves for just a moment hearing Toddles, “Thank you sooo much Toddles you are such a helpful elf.” She gave him snaps to show her appreciation. Eyes turning to Algamus as she heard him, “Algamus have you ever been told what an amazing job you do? You are such a great help and the mess will be cleaned up don’t worry about a thing.” She beamed at him and gave him a few snaps. Turning her eyes on Pips and Argyle she motioned. “Before we get started on the baking could you make sure the students have full cups of hot chocolate. We don’t need any of them being too cold.” She beamed at the class once more.

Turning back to the entire class she picked up another fortune cookie, “Now all of you are correct, these are fortune cookies and inside there are little pieces of paper that give advice, inspirational quotes, lucky numbers, and in some parts of the world chines sayings.” Breaking open the cookie she showed the piece of paper. “Now as Simon said there is debate on where these fun little treats originated from. Since many places in the world have them related to Chinese wouldn’t you think they were made in China?” She beamed looking around the room, “Well they were actually made in Japan. “There version is a bit different with the cookie being bigger and the piece of paper wedged into the bend not fully inside. Though for today we are going to look at the familiar version. This cookie is more popular in America where its served with Chinese food, some other places around the world do it as well, but most of you might have seen them in stores more than at a restaurant.”

She moved back to her work area, “Now as Mr. Grayson asked are they real? How well can they tell a future? That my darling friends is up for debate as well. We don’t know how most of these fortunes are determined so with that most of them are just for fun and shouldn’t be taken too serious. Restaurants don’t know your astrology signs or birth charts to give accurate readings, they haven’t seen your tea leaves nor your palm to know anything about you. So it’s just up to fate and how you interpret them on how well they work out for you as actual fortunes.”

She pulled out a few stack of index parchment and moved around the room dropping them off at each workstation. “How do you think someone could make fortune cookies more accurate or possibly actually speak truth?” This was going to be the fun part she just couldn’t help a few snaps of excitement.

Simon chuckled when the Professor said that she was going to make Cutty clean the crystal balls. Heh. His dormmate had been literally been asking to cleaning those crystal balls by making that comment in the first place. Then Professor Morgan threw the fortune cookie towards Zahra's mouth. Uhh.. Was there a slip of paper in THAT fortune cookie? And was Zahra just going to EAT the paper too? Weird girl. Weird, crazy, loud girl.

OOh, they were going to be briefly discussing the debate of the origin of the cookies. Now this was going to be interesting. They weren't Chinese so why did they give them out at Japanese restaurants? It just made no sense!

AHA! He knew that it HAD been made in Japan. Yes, he did know that. He smiled. He copied down some of the facts that Professor Morgan was telling them about the cookie. Then they moved onto the pieces of wisdom on the slips of paper that were found inside the fortune cookie. Ah, wasn't it all hocus pocus anyway?

How do you think someone could make fortune cookies more accurate or possibly actually speak truth?

Now that was an interesting question. Well the more general it was, the more people would connect to it, right? Simon raised his hand. "Well by making it more of a general statement it can be applied to multiple people. Though if you had a charm that could change the fortune based on the person who picked it up that could make it more truthful," he explained with a smile playing on his lip.

The professor had actually tossed the cookie towards the open mouthed girl. Awesome. Here's to hoping that she caught it mid air. Why didn't AJ think about doing that? Always a day late and a dollar short. Hmph.

"Professor, if you just put random things on there that could apply to anybody like... you're going to have a good day then that could be true for anybody." It seemed like the easiest route for her. Surely her way would involve a charm, but that wouldn't be a true chinese fortune cookie would it?

*HICCUP!*

Hiccup hiccup hiccup

Pips big watery eyes turned to Algamus as he spoke, "Pips is a good elf, Pips cleans up the mess." He wasn't a bad elf, no he was taking care of things. He glanced up at Missus again and a wave of nerves came over him.

hiccup hiccup hiccup hiccup hiccup hiccup

"Yes Missus Pips will get to the hot chocolate, Pips will do a good job at that." Grabbing the container of hot chocolate Pips moved around the room.

"More Hot Chocolate?" He asked the studenties just as the Missus had said.

No filter at all, or at least no idea of when or where to apply it. Cutty found that fascinating.

Penelope heard the Slytherin boy (Cutty) ask her why she hated wheat. She was shocked by this comment, and found it somewhat rude. It did not take much to trigger a dramatic mood swing in Penelope, and she had gone from feeling happy and bubbly to a confusing mix of anger and irritation. Confused by the mixed emotions, Penelope gave the boy an angry glare. What to say, what to say?

Oh yes a new answer, “Some do have lucky numbers to them. Very good. Any guess as to how they come up with these lucky numbers?” Just a side note really. Not important, but why not ask and keep their brains going with all this wonderful discussing.

SPOILER!!: Zander

Meh. Whatever.
__________________

“You are right some do play the lottery with this. Now for anyone who doesn’t know the lottery is a muggle activity where they give chance to numbers. “ She grinned towards the boy before moving on. Props for him knowing the muggle side of things.

SPOILER!!: Alexa

Bad elvsies." Algamus looked up at the Professor Missus,"Begging your pardon, missus. We clean up fast."

Penelope was still trying to figure out what to say to the boy who had commented about the wheat when Professor Cassie told him about her wheat allergy. Now she didn't have to worry about what to say to him. She was not angry and irritated any more, but happy again, though not quite in the same bubbly state that she had been in. Professor Cassie and her excitement snaps made Penelope happier. If it wasn't for the professor and her snaps, Penelope would probably be sulking in a corner somewhere. It was almost impossible not to feel happy with Professor Cassie and the excited snapping.

How could fortune cookies be more accurate? Maybe if the fortunes were for your zodiac sign. The professor had mentioned that the would be using zodiac signs today, and had said that the restaurants do not know your astrology signs. Penelope knew what her zodiac sign was. She was a Cancer. "Maybe it would be more accurate if the fortune was for your zodiac sign, and more accurate if it was based off your birth chart?"

Fortune cookies originated in Japan? Huh. Lux did not know that. She had assumed that they had come from China since they were supposed to come with Chinese food. You learned something new every day.

Listening as Professor Cassie spoke, she definitely could see why the fortunes would be considered nonsense by a lot of people. Honestly she didn't really find Divination to be anything more than an interest, but she did still enjoy the lessons and Professor Cassie was awesome. Raising her hand, she tried to guess at an answer. "Would they be more accurate if they were based off of your birth chart?" Some people had said that using general saying could work, but as far as her understanding went that was what a lot of fortune cookies did anyway. And going off of Zodiac signs was more accurate but still a little up in the air. Birth charts had to be more accurate. Yep, she was going with birth chart.

Not that she REALLY held with that stuff. Hers hadn't been very accurate at all.

He couldn't believe that Professor Morgan actually bought into Zahra's crazy antics. Hmph. In his opinion, she should have just kicked the girl out. MHM. Because it was likely that this wouldn't be the only time she'd be causing some major trouble. Trouble was most definitely one of those buy one get one free things with that girl. Just a package. Right. Anyways, enough about that. He couldn't let the girl bother him so much that he forgot about the lesson all together.

The Gryffindor tuned back in right before the next question was asked. Erm... That was a weird question. Uh, how would they be able to do that? "Well if you were able to control who the cookie went to... I reckon that'd make it easier?" How exactly they could do that? He had no clue. Maybe the Ravenclaws could work out this one.

Tippin was being a BUSY elf and doing BUSY things, like checking the cooking appliances over before letting the studenties near them. Their safety was the most important thing, after all!!

Tippin's eyes (and ears) peered over the top of the cooker on tiptoes as he watched the sudden comotion going on. His eyes widened and he gasped rather audibly at the mess on the floor.

He grabbed a broom and dragged it behind him as he finally made himself present in front of the class. "Tippin shall help Toddles clear the mess!" He was mostly talking to Algamus but Tippin soon directed his attention to the professor. "Tippin is most helpful at tidying, Professor Missus. Tippin will be the quickest elf for yourself and the studenties." Promise.

Tippin to the rescue, and all that.

So......... if Zahra caught the cookie in her mouth, ole Slytherin over there had to wash crystal balls all the live long day?

IT. WAS. ON. Unfortunately for that Slytherin Cutty, who was usually not all that annoying for a Slytherin, Zahra was REALLY GOOD at catching things in her mouth. Years of practice with Toussaint.

"OH SNAP!" Zahra yelled, or tried to. When you had a fortune cookie clenched in your teeth, there was only so much articulation you could do. She BIT DOWN and CRUNCHED CRUNCHED CRUNCHED the cookie. ....it had something funny about it going on, texture... but that didn't stop Zahra from saying, "HOPE YOU HAVE FUN CLEANING CRYSTAL BALLS!" Chew chew.... OH! RIGHT! PAPER! in the cookie! HAHA! Zahra had already chewed it to an unrecognizable mess, so she just went ahead swallowed.

As for Professor...Merlin, what was her name again? ... her question.. "....uhm......" her first thought was..."What if... you EAT the fortune paper, right... and when you poop out the paper, it's got a tailor-made fortune on it. I mean 'cause then the paper would have FIRST hand knowledge of what you were made of. YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT and all that. It'd just need some charms or whatnot and junk," so yeah, that was bloody brilliant. Throw this Lioness another cookie, she was ACING some Diviniation. WHO KNEW SHE HAD THE EYE? Haha!

~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

Adi drained his cup of the last of the hot chocolate. Keeping warm was a good excuse to consume this deliciousness. Yep. But he was paying attention to Professor Cassie. The fortune cookie's history was rather interesting. Especially the part about Japan. He had always associated it with Chinese.

The third year pondered on the woman's question. Raising his hand a minute later, he said, "Put fortunes in to the cookies based on Zodiac sign, maybe? That way persons could just say which sign they fall under and they'd receive a cookie from that particular batch.'' Adi eyed the House elf who had asked if they wanted more hot chocolate (Pips). He waved his hand to attract the elf's attention. "Hi. Can I have a refill please?'' He whispered that part, not wanting to disturb the class because of his sweet craving.

Ethan had to agree with Simon. From what he can think of, it is the only way to keep the reading personalized no? Unless of course there is another way besides charming the cookie itself. Hmm. Come on, Holmes Mordaunt. Think! The blond boy finished his drink, and placed his mug on top of the table as he formulated his answer. Well, basically building his answer around Simon’s.

Hand up.

“I agree with Simon, professor. A charm could be used to deliver an accurate reading…or maybe, use enchanted parchments for the cookies? The reading will be personalized once the cookie's touched?” That can also work no? Pre-charmed parchments for the fortune cookies would be most practical, and for the lazy ones, the most convenient.

The Idea Man Kori-Kins

Angel raised her hand and smiled. "Professor, maybe you could do general fortunes." Angel wasn't sure if it would work but it was worth a guess. "Like if I said in one that you will drive someone mad, well everyone drives someone mad at one point." Angel said truthfully. "Or you could put in the cookie, eventually you will make money." Angel was sure that would work.
