Ian raised his hand to give an answer about the signs. I think Venus is written that way because there is a softness for being underneath a venus as well as some measure of security by being protected, like a mother. For Mars, the arrow seems rather warrior like and aggressive, pointing up like that. Seems very suited to a man. It wasn't exactly great science that made him come up with that, but it was certainly how he felt about men and women from an emotional level. He tried to listen better to the professor. It seemed that things were starting to click a little more and he was certainly hopeful he'd understand more about what was going on. He glanced down at his chart. His sun was in Cancer and his moon in Aries. His Mars in Capricorn and his Venus in Leo. It was a lot of different information and he hoped he'd get it soon. He wondered. Did that make Cancer his strongest and then Aries and Leo and finally Capricorns? Maybe the Leo and Capricorn were inverted because she was a woman and it would make sense Venus would come before Mars. |
Cris listened attentively as Professor Morgan began to speak again. He breathed a sigh of relief when she explained the reasons why some of the traits didn't seem quite accurate. Traits not possibly visible yet? Cris made a mental note to himself to make sure that those traits never showed up. No sirree. He had no intentions of working in an institution or having quarrels with his siblings and his friends. So now on to why the Venus and Mars symbols looked the way they did. Cris decided to hazard a guess. "Professor like Jasmine said," he turned to smile at his girlfriend before continuing with what he had to say, "Venus is the Roman Goddess of love and fertility and its symbol would be most appropriate to represent a female. But look at those lines branching out. They look like arms opened wide...possibly to embrace someone..maybe a child?." Okay that settled Venus...now on to Mars. "As for Mars. Well that is the Roman God of War and look at the arrow pointing up. It looks like a spear. So since its always perceived as the man does the hunting in the household, that that would be the appropriate symbol to represent a man." There was something else the spear could also represent but Cris didn't think it would be appropriate to mention it in front of the young un's, so he just kept his explanation at that. Now onto finding what zodiac signs were compatible with his sign. Okay, Sun and Mars were in Virgo, while Venus was in Libra. So did that make Virgo which was also his own sign, his strongest match and Libra his next compatible? Well Cris also considered another sign also most compatible, Taurus, and he wasn't going to settle for anything less than that. So he picked up his quill and noted the signs as he saw them. Quote:

Adi raised his hand. "It has something to do with the Roman God and Goddess. Venus was female while Mars was male.'' Was that correct? That was a question with a simple answer if it was. Now, back to work with the chart. Okay, so for Adi, the Sun fell under Capricorn. So did Mars but Venus fell under Aquarius. Cool. He made a note of that. Professor Cassie Did say they would be needing it for the next part of the lesson. Quote:

Whoa... Sophie thought she got all that, but she couldn't be sure. If she heard correctly, she was supposed to look at her own chart and see where her Sun was, then...where Mars and Venus were, too. Sounded about right. She glanced down at her chart and began looking for the Sun. Sun = Pisces Okay, WOOT. That was her sign, too, so she guessed the professor was right. People are usually compatible with those of their own sign. Now to find Mars and Venus. Mars = Gemini Venus = Aquarius Hmm. Well, that hadn't been too hard. What did it all mean, though? |
Yep, she definitely liked to hear herself talk... So the Gryffindor had no idea what the Professor had asked about Venus and Mars but he wasn't interested either. Instead, he ate more cookies despite not being able to taste anything and when it was time to begin again, Kevin grabbed his birth chart and looked at it. So his Sun sign was Leo. This was also his zodiac sign. He made a quick note of this before searching searching Mars and Venus Quote:

Her traits might appear later on in life? Not if she could help it. Lux didn't think Divination was anything other than something done for curiosity. As much as she liked Professor Morgan - which was a lot - she just couldn't buy into the subject being anything relatively close to a science. But she was curious nonetheless. No surprise when the mention of compatibility came up; it was Valentines Day after all. Knowing full well who her match was, Lux started looking on her chart for the symbols she needed. Since other people were already answering the questions about Venus and Mars, she remained silent. As she found each symbol, she wrote it down: Quote:

Jasmine finished checking her chart and found her most "compatible" signs. Sun-Taurus Venus-Aries Mars-Aquarius Okay, so they were her most compatible signs. That was all well and good, but she was quite satisfied with her Virgo thank you very much. Sometimes you just had to leave things to chance and Jasmine couldn't imagine things working out any better than they had so far. |
Zander considered what the Divination Professor said. Although it was nice of her to say that he was being all inspiring at the SNAC club meeting. That was nice. Except he hadn't actually found any footprints... And the ones he did find were actually human prints... So he didn't really see how inspiring that could be but, at least he gave it a shot? Maybe it just counts to try? Anyways.... So the sun sign? He looked for where it fell on his paper and BOOM Quote:

Lucy began to search on her birth chart the symbols, following the instructions of the professor.. Quote:

Being told that he was doing amazingly was probably one of the few things that was making all of this better. Something that wasn't was the fact that he really didbelong in a jail. Or working in a jail. Freaking great. Whatever. This was wrong. Obviously. Regardless, he actually smiled a little at Professor Cassie and said, "Twelfth house it is. Thanks, Professor!" AND she liked how he was really looking into it! It was probably only because he was curious about it and wanted to know if it was accurate for him. Way to disappoint him, birth chart. Buuuuuuut that comment was appreciated. Really. And they were moving on. Brilliant. Less time to reflect on how weird the readings were. Because they were still weird. Uh huh. Even if he was going to grow into it or whatever. He didn't want to grow into that. No, thank you. Grayson did look down at his chart when the Divination Professor mentioned something about finding Venus and Mars and seeing which star signs they were a part of. Quote:
Fine. Whatever. He was going to wait for an explanation about this. In the meantime, he could answer Professor Cassie's question. "Women come from Venus and men come from Mars." Good ol' saying, that one was. |
Hmmm... AJ wasn't sure about the whole female/male thing and why there were the way they were. She was having a hard enough time trying to figure out if she believed any of this so answering questions was a bit too much for her at the moment. At least picking out the signs were easy enough. All you had to do was find the picture. Picking up another color crayon she made note of the different signs and noticed that she got Aries twice. Considering that she was an Aries and she was totally awesome, she could see how that one came up twice for her. She was a total catch. Yup. Making sure that she wrote down everything, she updated her chart with the new information. Quote:

Simon continued to listen to Professor Cassie and then examined his own chart looking for the Mars and Venus symbols. This reminded him of when his parents had bought him the Where's Waldo book; however, finding these symbols were much easier than finding Waldo. Waldo never wanted to be found. His blue eyes flicked back and forth between the textbook and his own chart. Okay, sun where are you hiding? he thought. Oh it was in the Gemini piece of the chart. That was easy enough. He then looked for Mars and Venus. Mars looked as if it were between both Cancer and Leo. Was that even possible? He wonder if anyone else had his issue too, but moved on. Venus was last. Now where was she? Aha! She was hanging out with Taurus. Alright. He picked up his quill and began making notes about where the sun, mars, and venus was. Quote:

Arista was not going to answer those questions until the Professor put some logic into this class. She was still not understanding what all of the stuff met. At least picking out the signs were easy. All she had to do was find the symbol. Ooo look she got Aries twice. Which was awesome because she was an Aries. Quote:
|
Kace was not going to answer her question since the other students seemed to know it well enough. Why repeat their answers? He was more focused on his chart. He looked at his sun, venus and mars sign. He looked it up and started to write it down... Quote:
|
See finding this stuff was becoming more and more easier for him. and he was having so much. Flipping through his pages while he looked at his chart and he wrote down his signs. Quote:

Michael Toussaint you brilliant soul you! Lex turned in her seat, finding she was agreeing with him completely. If he had the same as the Professor then it meant he had the same as Lex as well so they were both in this 'my symbol sucks and makes no sense' boat. He would understand her more than Cassia seemed to with her actually taking this stuff in without even a hint of disapproval outside of a few faces made and the like. One day she'd get the girl to start a riot with her. It had to happen. In the mean time she'd just to make sense of this. All she had to do was write where the symbols fell, yeah? No interpretations and lies? That wasn't so hard she supposed. Lex picked up her chart to have another look at it. Was it bad she didn't know what half these symbols were? Was it bad she had to peak into Sophie Newell's parchment to know which one was Gemini? No? Okay. For the rest she figured it'd just be easier to copy off Cassia's...or, you know, check the text, it had to be there. Yeah. Ah, here we go. Quote:

Professor Cassie noticed her? The third year didn't know why she was so surprised by it but lets just go with it. Emmylou looked at the moon house paragraph she got as Professor Morgan talked to her. Emmylou shrugged and smiled. |
It was hard to argue when the professor said that not ALL of the entry had to be accurate, although Mo wondered if it was possible that people would always find some part that was. That seemed to be kinda the way astrology worked, as far as he could tell, but he was trying to keep an open mind. Really, he was. Now, then... what sign was his sun under? Mo traced it on his birth chart, and found that, as the professor suggested, his sun was in his birth house. Close to the line though, right between Cancer and Leo. So that made his most compatible match a Cancer, right? Only, Mo noticed that right above it, Mars was in Leo too. That sort of put the weight into Leo's corner. And way up there, Venus was in Virgo. Y'know... Cat was a Leo. Maybe there was something in this. Quote:

Example for below: Professor Cassie, Libra Quote:
Oh wonderful, wonderful they all seemed to really understand the symbolism for Venus and Mars. This was just splendid and everyone that answered got snaps. She was excited to keep moving on with the lesson. “Yes, yes correct all of you. This is just wonderful. Venus is known has the Goddess of love and is seen as more feminine, whereas Mars, the God of War, is certainly more manly so more masculine. Grayson very good bringing a very old saying of Women from Venus, Men are from Mars. A muggle wrote a book with that topic once. So the studies and writings go way back on this very topic we are discussing today.” She walked around the room a bit, “I see most of you have written down your compatibility signs. Very good, but do you agree?” She grinned, knowing the answer from a few. It was always the same, no, no my girlfriend or boyfriend isn’t any of these sings. She just chuckled to herself, because she knew how those would turn out. It was always the same. “Now for the fun part of our lesson. You’ve learned a ton about Astrology today. You learned what the Zodiac chart looks like. No, I didn’t fully go over it, but you all have eyes, you can see it.” She pointed happily to the chart at the front of the room. “We have made a birth chart, that I highly recommend keeping, it might come in handy if you ever lose your path and want to see what could help in the planets and their meanings.” She loved to look at her birth chart, had a few in her office. “You've looked to see where your ego and inner traits lie on the chart. These are splendid things to know about yourself. You can’t fully be in a relationship unless you know some of the pieces of yourself. Lastly, you've found which signs you are most compatible with. “ Eeeeep!!! To the fun! With a flick of her wand red, white, purple, and pink parchment, more crayons, glitter, and color changing quills stopped at each table on little carts. “Now the first thing I need you to do is make a nice big sign using the white paper. This is going to have your name on it and your Astrology Sign. So for example.” She held up her white sign that read: Quote:
“If you finish early please enjoy more cookies, there is more tea in the back of the room, and feel free to make more Valentine’s Cards for anyone. Plenty of supplies! You have about twenty minutes until the end of class so enjoy. “ Picking up a cookie, Cassie took a bite out of it before starting to walk around the room. She would help if needed and maybe even make her own card. OOC: Awesome everyone, I didn’t quote anyone for the Venus/Mars answers, because everyone pretty much said the same things. Now for the activity just to explain a little better. You don’t have to make a sign with your charrie’s sign. This can just be in the Title to make it easier for others to find a sign to make a card for. See mine as an example!!!! In minimum of six posts, have your charrie find someone with at least one of the three/two signs you listed, making the Valentine’s Card, and then giving that person their Valentine’s Day Card. If for some reason not one person has any signs on your list PM me and we will work something out. Hopefully that won’t happen. If people get more than one Valentine that’s okay too, but please, PLEASE, try to get everyone in the class! Just like little school age children at parties, don’t leave anyone out! You can make a card and link it if you want, You don’t have to , just describing is fine. PLEASE do not just copy something from the internet. You will have until Saturday, June 28 to finish this. I’ll end the lesson and dismiss around 8 p.m. EST. |
Post 1 Ethan Tyler Mordaunt, LIBRA Ethan took a peek when Grayson asked a question. He had to eavesdrop though because it’s new information. Information is good. However, when the professor gave him snaps, Ethan had to do a head desk right then and there and started to silently snigger while biting his lower lip really hard. Oh maaaaaaaan. He knew that Grayson—upon observing his facial expression, was the most bothered amongst his friends. Then he got snaps. MERLIN. Clearing his throat, Ethan forced to wear a serious face and moved on with the next instruction. He got his chart from the table and held it high so that it will cover his face. It was hard not to crack a smile. He did however see where the Sun, Venus, and Mars landed on his chart. Quote:
... Now...another activity? Already? Okay! It really isn't a big deal. As instructed, Ethan got a piece of white paper and wrote his name and Zodiac sign. Quote:
Yes. Doodle, doodle, doodle. |
Post 1 Oh compatibility stuff... Well this should be interesting. His eyes widened at the thought of being matched up to someone to make a Valentine's card. That sounded fun- he supposed. After writing his information down, all Simon had to do was find someone who had two or three signs that were the same. Simon followed the Professor's instructions, taking out a piece of paper and clearly (and neatly) writing his name and zodiac sign. Quote:

Post 1 Did she agree with her compatibility signs? No, not really. But that was okay, because Lux was having fun and this wasn't something that she seriously believed in. It was awesome that Professor Morgan had faith in Divination, but she herself did not. Didn't mean that she didn't enjoy the class and subject though! OOOH! Valentines Day cards. That sounded like a lot of fun, actually. She could write something really sweet for one of her classmates since she couldn't for boyfriend. Taking a piece of parchment, she wrote out her name and sign so that other people could see it: Quote:
|
Post 1 - Making sign They were supposed to look for someone whose signs...or at least was the same as his. Cris looked down at his again. Quote:
Quote:
So unless anyone else showed a sign that said otherwise, she was IT. .....wait that Slytherin (Ethan) was also a Libra. He could make one for him. |
Post 1: Zander Adair, Capricorn Make signs?..... Ah the things he does for house points. Zander looked over at the colored parchment and grabbed a white one. He was not in the mood to be festive. Despite whatever Professor Morgan said about valentines day, it was so just a couples holiday. And his heart belonged to Professor Bentley, but she couldn't know that. And Lux had helped him decide that he needed to get over that crush. So bah-humbug to all of this valentines day stuff. Hmph. So taking a black crayon from the bunch, Zander wrote his name and Astrology sign in neat cursive handwriting. Quote:

Post 2 - Simon! :3 After going through the cart that was parked in front of their table with all the things they need for their cards, he got a few sheets and color changing quills and began to draw. He paused however when he saw Simon’s card and said he’s a Gemini. HE’S A GEMINI SO HE’S GONNA GET A CARD FROM ETHAN OKAY? Okay. Ethan got to work and added the final touches. He wanted to make this card special since Simon’s a very good friend. Who would have thought that that quiet boy will actually be his...best friend? Ethan paused. Should he ask? Maybe…maybe Simon’s got a best friend already and he didn’t want to ask if he could also be one. That’ll be just silly, no? The best friend title is an exclusive one for the boy, so there's that. Throwing a side glance at the boy beside him, Ethan slipped his masterpiece towards Simon. “Special delivery!” he didn’t need to look at his friend for his reaction though. He’ll just have to make more cards. You know, to keep himself distracted from his recent thought. Best friend, hmm? Apparently his Valentine’s Card won’t send itself to another Gemini or a Saggitarius, no? To make his card making more efficient, he stood up and roamed around the classroom to peak at their signs. Oh hey, look! Lux is a Gemini too! Noted. |
