Emmylou blinked then blinked some more. What was she going on about the Prefect girl? Emmylou zoned out at that part because she felt like it wasn't any of her business to be listening to that at all. Emmylou smiled and gave all of her attention to her Divinations professor. That was a lot for one person to say and it was a little confusing to the third year lioness. The blonde nodded and tried to really focus. She wish she could say that Kace was distracting her but that wasn't the truth at all. It was...well she didn't know what it was. There wasn't much going on in her brain right now. She was long, totally and utterly lost. |
Uhhh...what? Why was Sophie always confused in this class? It wasn't the professor's fault--it was all the subject's fault for being so hard! Sophie stared at the chart she'd made and looked for the Sun symbol. ...oh, there is was! It was at the top of the chart in the tenth house. Sophie looked at her book and read what it said for the Sun in the tenth house. If you have the Sun in the 10th house, you may have a desire to attain success and power for the benefit of others or to seek success and power for yourself without thought of anyone else. You want to shine and be recognized for your accomplishments. You want to be really good at something. There is strong motivation towards succeeding in a career and/or personal achievements. You have the ability to inspire others through your example. You are ambitious and self-aggrandizement is possible. People in high places can help or hinder your career. Success and power for others?! PSH. Like she was going to do something like that. The next sentence looked way better--success and power for HERSELF. Now they were talking! Shine and be recognized...yeah, yeah. Sophie was nodding along as she read. Really good at something?! That was beating the NUNDU! People in high places--yup, she was all good with some help from the powers that be! That number ten was looking pretty good. With a grin, Sophie flipped the page to see what her Moon house was and what it said. Twelfth house--right! The Moon in the 12th house can indicate work behind the scenes in an institution, hospital or jail. There may be dealings with public welfare or those unfortunates of life. Conscious or subconscious sensitivity can be damaging if not held in check. You feel some sort of cross to bear which others may not be aware of and many troubles may occur. Secret enemies may try to take advantage of you. Through suffering comes obedience. Your mother may be of great distress to you. Serving others is the safest, shortest road to God. Teach to others what you have learned through your own suffering. Concerning vocation: You prefer little or no contact at all with the public in your job. Symbolically, this position is the author hidden away in the attic, the playwright who will not attend a performance of his work, the behind-the-scenes person. The personality is hidden and may be limited and confined. In work, these conditions are preferred in order to provide maximum security and comfort to the personality. ...WHAT?! Sophie had no desire to go work with the people in Azkaban. That place was creepy, and she didn't even want to see it in person, much less go inside! Sophie read along, a frown on her face. This number twelve did NOT sound fun. Working with the unfortunate? A career where she basically made herself into a hermit crab? UGH. "Professor?" she asked, raising her hand. "Can you just tell one of your numbers 'thanks, but no thanks'?" |
Alright now time to do some digging in his chart and book. He opened his book first to page 138, and decided to figure out his sun symbol. He look and realized his sun was in the 11th house. Once he figured that out, he wrote it down in his notebook. "I got the Sun in the 11th House.." he said still scribbling down his notes. Quote:

Benny looked to Adi as the Hufflepuff nudged him, blanking at the question asked of him. A present for Angel? What kind of prese--oh. The Gryffindor couldn't help but color as he registered the source of the jest. His friend was teasing him about Angel and it being Valentine's day. So now he was technically wearing more red, this time on his face, the boy looking down at his notes and trying to hide. Or at the very least, calm his embarrassment. He was quite grateful as the professor worked for their attention once more, moving on to the actual reading of the birth chart or natal chart as was mentioned. Benjamin tried his best to pay attention to what was being said, struggling a little to keep up and not get lost. He would certainly need to know all he could about what he was looking for in the crazy drawings he had done. Left to their own devices, the third year turned his book page to the sun chart first, looking for the sun in the 6th house. In fact both the sun and moon were supposedly in the 6th house if he was reading it correctly. Finding what he was looking for, Benny copied it down into his notes. SPOILER!!: Sun in sixth house Reading it over a few times, Benny didn't think it connected all too well with what his personality was like. But then the professor had said it was how people saw you. Really?! Shaking his head, he moved onto the moon in the 6th house, copying it into his notes as well. SPOILER!!: Moon in the 6th house |
Jasmine found this whole discussion very interesting. She couldn't wait to find out what those stars had to say about her. Looking at her birth chart, she discovered that her Sun was in the Tenth house and her moon in the First house. Flipping through her book to find the explanation of both of these, Jasmine began to read. SPOILER!!: Sun 10th house Jasmine didn't know what to think about her Sun report. It sounded like it could go either way........use your powers for good or for evil. If the information did pertain to her, she hoped it would be the positive not the negative. Yes,she wanted to be good at something. She was good at something and had worked very hard to get there. She was self-motivated......true and she always wanted to do her best. Unfortunately it sounded like this 10th house person was one step away from being a power hungry, egotistical, attention hog. If she could just be on the good side of that description....... SPOILER!!: Moon 1st house A little bothered by her first description, Jasmine found the page that talked about her Moon in the first house. She started to read and was very surprised. Besides the moodiness and impulsivity, she felt everything else could be applied to her in some way. Jasmine was often unsure and dare she say insecure. She was sensitive and hated for others to be angry with her. Her mother clearly had an effect on her. She was the one from which Jasmine obtained her magical ability. She was the one who cared for her when her father was stationed elsewhere or deployed. It was her mother who demonstrated what it meant to be a strong woman. And the vocation statement.......yes, Jasmine liked to do her own thing and what better way to express herself than through dance. Jasmine didn't know what to believe. She felt the second description was pretty accurate. The first one, well the jury was still out on that one. She would have to ask Cris for his opinion. Maybe there was something she just wasn't seeing. |
Question! One of the good things that came from this explanation was the fact that his ego like that there was something that represented it. He was also glad to have been cleared up on what a little part of his birth chart meant but that wasn't as important. Once the Professor had finished explaining what was to be done, Grayson first turned to the page that had the sun chart or whatever it was called and listed the explanations to each of the houses. According to his birth chart, the sun belonged to the 12th house so, Grayson ignored the other explanations and turned to that paragraph instead. Text Cut: Sun in the 12th house What in the freaking name of Merlin was THIS?! It was a bunch of dragon dung, that's what. Because there was no way that he had a desire to serve others. Just no. It wasn't happening. He had no such desire. And excuse you, he had a LOT of confidence in his abilities, thank you very much. As for whether he liked to seek sympathy, frankly, Grayson didn't care. And he wasn't reshaping anything for anybody so........... ............. he was moving swiftly onwards. Text Cut: Moon in 1st/12th house Oh jeez, this was even worse. It was interesting that the moon sign lay right on the line between the first house and the twelfth but what was this about pleasing everyone? Of course it couldn't be done. That's why he didn't even try it in the first place! JEEZ. The bit about his mum caused him to narrow his eyes. What. What kind of influence? An WHY was the second one suggesting that he would either go to a boring place, a hospital or jail? He did not WANT to go to jail. No, thank you. He also didn't want to work in a hospital. Being around all those sick people did not sound like his idea of fun. Fine. Whatever. This was still a bunch of dragon dung and it was CLEARLY wrong. He DID have a question so his hand went up in the air. "Professor? What happens if your moon or sun lies on the line between two houses?" DID his even lie on the line between the two houses? |
Nessa knew exactly what her birth chart said, she had done one before. Well, Cassie had done one for her and explained a bunch of things about it for her. But even though she knew the gist of it all, she still found it very fascinating and of course she set straight away with her crayons to make one with the class. Unfortunately, she did not have a copy of the textbook. "Can I just.." she whispered to the student next to her once they were done doing their chart and she slid the student's book closer to her. It didn't take her long to finish her own. SPOILER!!: Professor Glendower's birth chart Then she had to wait for a student to finish doing the other steps until she could borrow the textbook again. Really, she should just get her own copy. Again, she had done her signs previously, but she was eager to do a refresher on them. It had been a while. So.. Sun in the 10th house. Quote:

After the birth chart drawing it was time to find the sun and the moon and their house significance. Surprisingly enough, Beverly flipped to page 138 in a matter of seconds instead of taking her sweet time. What? This was sort of interesting, the information hunting, that was. She was the predator. Always. Yes. Looking at her chart she noted the sun landed on house one. That had to be good, yeah? Number one, the early bird, the BEST, the WINNER. Yeah, yeah? Well, lets see about that... Text Cut: Sun :: House One OH. MY. MERLIN. This...it's like it NEW her. Beverly blinked at the text. Yes, yes. She was independent. She liked to lead SMIRK. That one was just...PERFECT. Now on to the moon. What other greatness did it tell about her... Text Cut: Moon :: House Six You should not eat when overworked, overtired, or when you are upset. THIS WAS NOT FAIR. She LOVED food. And...was the textbook maker watching her? This was somewhat...honest. Somewhat...on the point. Somewhat...she DIDN'T like IT. And she was going to lie if they asked her if it was true. Nope. It was't. She was in control and she loved food. HMPH. |
Errrrrrrr..... He spent a couple of minutes just staring at his chart, trying to decipher it. Sure, the Professor HAD made it all look rather easy finding the sun and moon numbers, hadn't she? Mhmm.. He frowned and turned to page 138 into his textbook and scanned the page. Then he glanced at his own chart and couldn't find the numbers. He squinted slightly and could make a very small '12' where his sun was. He glanced at his book and read the text. Yes, Simon did have a desire to attain success. The young man was very ambitious. He smiled proudly at the description, feeling as if it suited him quite well. Simon wanted to be good at not just something but everything that he could do. Feeling satisfied with his result, he then looked for the little moon symbol. His blue eyes widened when he found it in the little pizza slight with the number eight written it. Ooh. Interesting. He read on further.
Okay, so this wasn't exactly accurate for the Slytherin. He was definitely intrigued by what motivates his fellow colleagues as well as pretending to be a detective He brought himself away from those thoughts and focused on the Professor once more. |
Mo had to wait patiently for his book to be returned, but he flashed a very brief smile at the professor when she offered it to him, still opened to the correct page. That was nice of her. She wasn't Professor Pretty, but that wasn't her fault. She was nice. Pretty, even, in an entirely flashy way. Acceptable replacement, IF she knew what she was talking about. Might as well get to that, right? Mo traced his birth chart circles until he found the sun, which was... the 8th house. Mo skimmed the text, noting the themes of selfishness, wanting to be taken care of, being closed off emotionally... not good stuff and it didn't feel very accurate. The other comments were more likely, the parts about wanting to improve himself. The bit about the the inheritance, maybe. And an interest in Divination for sure, considering he was right here in class. So points for effort, but it didn't feel like a spot on hit. He moved on to the moon house, tracing the lines again until he found... the seventh house. This one almost seemed to be about Cat, and Mo wanted to show her what it said. He attracted partners who wanted to mother him? That wasn't very flattering for either of them. There was one bit... where'd it go? Ah. He was influenced by his friends and wanted to be liked. Very true. Another one of those, although this one seemed much closer to the mark than the first. |
Peeking over to look at Jasmine's Cris was still contemplating how almost inaccurate the traits identified on his birth chart were. Yes they had been derived from his birth data but it could still be possibly wrong, right? Cris wanted to ask Professor Morgan how accurate these charts were but decided to stay silent for the time being. He glanced over at Jasmine and wondered what she was thinking. "May I?" he whispered to Jasmine before glancing down at her birth chart and then making reference to the pages. After he read what had been written regarding the position of both her sun and moon signs, Cris looked up from the book to look at her, brows raised. Interesting. All the good stuff the text was saying about the position of her sun and moon signs, that was Jasmine. He had to disagree about the moodiness thought. Ever since they met, he had never seen her in a moody or bad temper, and he didn't expect to either. Yes! he had been right. Not all of the readings were accurate. |
Agatha had to resist the urge to rest her head on her book while the professor kept talking and talking and talking about all that she was talkng about. How boring. The girl looked to see what the sun and moon signs looked like and tried to find where her ones were. Sun in the first house moon in the.... eleventh. Now she needed to check what that meant because that didn't tell her much so far. Flipping to page 138, it didn't take her too long to find the info about herself. Text Cut: Sun in the 1st house As she read that, Agatha sat up straighter and she actually could see a LOT of her in that. In all of that, even. Wow. That was impressive!! She blinked a couple of times as she stared wide-eyed at the page for a bit. Woooow! The third year chose to ignore the part in which it told her to try to be more humble and give proper credit to others. That was rubbish. She was amazing, wasn't she? Even the book said so. Maybe this Divination thing wasn't too bad after all. Onto the moon part then. It should be just as good. Flipping through the pages until she reached 140, Agatha read the paragraph about her moon. Text Cut: Moon in the 11th house ...What was all that rubbish? This was ALL wrong. Popularity with women, many of her friends would be female? Pfffffffffffft. If you feel you do not "belong", then negative emotions surface that all basically have to do with your own needs for security. Agatha frowned immediately as she pushed the book away from her and glared at it. Rubbish! She felt her face burning and her frown got deeper. She was NOT insecure AND she had loads of friends!!! Like..... like.................... Simon. And Beverly! FROWN. |
SPOILER!!: Cris Jasmine noticed Cris peeking over her shoulder to look at her chart. "Of course you can look", Jasmine said in response to his request. He had shared his chart with her earlier and now she wanted to see what his Sun and Moon explanations were. Having finished her own, Jasmine Cris' houses and then looked in her book for the information. Well the Sun had it right with the knowledge part because no one valued knowledge more than Cris. He certainly shared his knowledge with others, all the time. Intellectual domination, no. Lack of patience, no. Cris was one of the most patient people she knew. The part about the siblings she doubted very much. The need to be right all the time, absolutely not. Writing ability-yes to the contest winner. So basically the answer was some true, some not so much. The Moon information seemed completely wrong. Jasmine couldn't find one thing in that description that she agreed with. Behind the scenes, no contact with the public......just no. Unless Cris had a totally different personality living inside him that Jasmine had not seen, this was very off. "Are you sure that you put in all of the information correctly? This doesn't sound like you at all." |
Arista after seeing what the Sun sign looked at went looking for it. OOOO there it was resting her finger on it. She waited for the Professor to finish. LITTLE NUMBERS? She saw no such numbers. After looking around the room she saw that everyone was looking in the middle of the circle. She giggled before looking to see where her sun was at. "My Sun is in the First House!!". Now she needed to check what that meant, right?. Flipping to page 138 she quickly found the the first house. Text Cut: Sun in the 1st house At first the Gryffindor was appalled at what she was reading and then she nodded. She did like to shine be noticed for what she was...Which was being a princess and an adventurer!! She was all of those! Wait what?? She was not dictatorial!! Be more humble!! She stuck her tongue out at that she was humble and she did give credit. Onto the moon part then. It should be just as good and not criticise her like the last one did. Flipping through the pages until she reached 140, Arista read the paragraph about her moon house. Text Cut: Moon in the 12th house She was so NOT sensitive. She took things well! Take advantage of her she gave a chuckle at that. Suffering??? She didn't suffer. She was fine. She glared at her book but continued to breath. Little or no contact yeah right. AND she was so NOT a behind the scenes kind of person. Personality hidden, no thank you!! She gave a frown before saying, "This is rubbish." She wasn't sure if she liked Divination now... |
SPOILER!!: Jasmine Cris waited patiently for Jasmine to read up on what the positions of the sun and moon signs meant for him. He first shrugged and then nodded his head at her question. "Yes I'm sure I did. I put in my first and last name. My birthdate and the place I was born in. I'm sure my birth time is accurate too...I think. I may have misread an a.m for a p.m. that was indicated on my birth certificate, but I don't think I did. Who knows maybe these are latent traits that will surface later in life. Merlin! I do hope not," Cris whispered to Jasmine, a look of horror appearing on his face. |
First the snapping and now all this confusing birth chart stuff? Maybe Zander should have just slept through the lesson... Is it too late to change his proud statement? Because he was most certainly not proud of coming to this class anymore... More like really angry with himself for it. This was all way too weird and not to mention, SUPER confusing. Sigh. Either way he followed instructions, and looked at the VERY confusing birth chart thingy for his sun sign. Whatever all that even meant. After a while of searching through the picture for his sun, he finally caught glimpse of it! AHA! Putting his finger right on top, he followed it down to the numbers. So ten? House number? Like Hogwarts houses? Could his be in the tenth house of Gryffindor? ..... ? SPOILER!!: Tenth Gryffindor House XD ..... That all sounded like a bunch of made up stuff. Zander did not want power.... Well, he did want to be good at something, but then again, doesn't everyone? Either way, all this sun sign stuff was definitely a little wonky and kind of out of place. He didn't match any of that... "Professor, I don't think mine is accurate? It doesn't sound like me at all." Now they were going to look for the moon? It was hard enough trying to spot the sun. Gah. Divination is even more work that Arithmancy is.... Which is why he disliked both subjects, with the burning passion of a thousand and one tenth house suns. Yeah. He went there. Oh, finding his moon was actually super easy! It was in the biggest slice of his birth chart pizza! It was in the six! Aka, his favorite number, duh. Was this magical divination stuff a coincidence? SPOILER!!: Sixth Houseeee Okay... This one sounded a little better... Just a little. He did admit to being a somewhat, worrying type of person. Okay he worried a lot. BUT THAT WAS NATURAL STUFF OKAY!? Either way, this divination stuff was not impressing him at all. Nope. Nuhuh. |
You know what? Lex just kinda bit her inner cheek to keep from saying anything further while she crumbled a cookie. Astrology was not a subject of Divination, it was a topic to be covered at most and the Professor would have been proud to know she knew the dispensible nature of Astrology but she wouldn't be saying all that because the woman would BEAM at her again and that...she would simply pass on. There were only so many smiles she could take in one day. Lex hadn't been distracting, she'd stated a point that they could have moved beyond if the Professor didn't stop to call Airey unprofessional like she did. Surely she didn't think Lex would have nodded and let them move on after that? Nooooope. And what was with that look? Very poor misunderstanding? The Gryffindor bit down a little harder on the soft tissue on the inside of her cheek, still deciding it wasn't worth another smile. It was what it was and of no consequence to Alexa anyway. Her father and grandparents would never support a career in this field and she liked being in their good graces because it came with money. Now came the part of the exercise that always proved Divination--AND ARITHMANCY FOR THAT MATTER--wrong. The part where it made assumptions, because that's all they were. The Gryffindor found the sun symbol and traced it to the 12. SPOILER!!: Sun: 12 HDVCJHFDGJJSD!! O_O Nooooooope. Nope nope nope. SEE why she didn't believe in this stuff? Was anyone else seeing this? Self-pity? Seeking sympathy? Lacking confidence? Were they talking the same conceited Gryffindor sitting right here? What EVEN??? Lex blinked at the page, then over at Professor Smiles. She couldn't honestly believe in this right here? This just had her doubting the moon would be anymore accurate but she went looking for it anyway. SPOILER!!: Moon: 3 Admittedly the moon wasn't as bad. No, that one she could leave with. The sun, not so much. Just no. |
What did this have to do with Valentines Day again? Michael was getting totally lost on this whole birth chart thing. He wasn't even sure what this had to do with Divination. With a heavy sigh he pulled his chart closer so that he could see where his sun and moon sat. SPOILER!!: Sun in 12th house When he had finished reading the interpretation, Michael pursed his lips but didn't say anything. Instead he read the next interpretation. SPOILER!!: Moon in the 12th house Michael pushed his textbook and his chart away from and crossed his arms over his chest. "MY SUN AND MOON SUCK!!" |
Lucy looked at the book, saw where her sun was, then she moved to the center. She said:" So my sun is in the 4th house." Quote:

Well, Kevin was really glad that he had used his real name, Kenji for this chart. Because if he had to draw another one he would have caused an uproar. So Gryffindor, you can all relax because this agressive lion is still calm. Talking......looooooots of talking. "Geez she really loves to hear herself talk" the second year mumbled silently. He was half listening and half coughing in his tissue from time to time until they had to work again. And more looking up from the textbook. Mweh. Kevin flipped the pages and searched for his sun house first. Quote:

Sun and moon symbols. The symbols were cute, for one. Leah liked those, and that was a positive sign. The mention of pizzas made her lick her lips and grab a heart-shaped cookie. She could not help it. What was with lessons this year talking about food? Leah nibbled on the cookie while looking at her chart again. She soon found the sun sign... in the ninth house. Immediately fliping to the directed page, she read the description, frowning. Quote:
Leah moved to find her moon. It was about right opposite the sun, in the third house. Expecting more good things, the second year turned a page and read the description. Quote:

She stared at the birth chart of her waiting for it to make sense. Nope, it didn't. So she just waited till the Professor started explaining. That's when the others finished. It seemed that everyone almost finished anyway so she wouldn't have to wait much longer. And Professor Morgan started talking. Cassia's full attention was on the kind woman. Her hand was quick taking notes meanwhile, a lot of new and helpful information was being said, the snake tried not to miss a thing. This ALL could be on NEWTs.Luckily nothing seemed to be too complicated or hard to get. Absent-mindedly the seventh-year nodded at the explanation on how to know the houses where the moon and sun sign were. Turning to her own birth chart, she tapped the parchment as she searched for the sun sigh. There it was! Sliding her finger over to the beginning of the pizze slice-like part she reached the number one. Meaning her sun sign was in the first house. Turning to the book she flipped through the pages until she got where she wanted. Quote:

Ian looked at his birth chart and all the other stuff she was talking about and felt like his head was spinning. This was a LOT of information going on here and he felt a little overwhelmed. He hoped perhaps he'd get it later as she moved on. He really hoped she didn't come and look over at his chart to tell him what it all meant. He kind of liked the idea of surprise and wonder that came with not knowing what was going to happen in the future. |
Cassie walked around the room as they looked at their sun and moon sign. It didn’t take a seer to be able to figure out what some of them were thinking as the read it. Facial expressions spoke a thousand words. Noticing a hand go up she moved toward the student, Quote:

Moving back towards the front of the room she beamed at the class, “Great job everyone. I hope you found things that you liked and things that you didn’t.” Oh would that surprise anyone that she said that? “Your houses that your sun and moon are in only describe part of you. It’s not going to be all of you, so something’s could seem far fetched or off. It could be because you are still young, you really haven’t grown into your true identities yet. These traits are there you just don’t know it yet, or it could be missing a piece since you haven’t looked into the other planets and their houses. We could spend all day doing this, but what fun would that be when it’s Valentine’s Day! So we should use this for something special, don’t you think?” It was getting closer to what she really wanted to do with this lesson and it was super exciting!!! “Now we will be putting some focus on your sun sign, but also the Venus and Mar symbols. We won’t be looking at their houses though. For this we will be looking at where they are placed in the Zodiac Wheel. Venus which looks like this, is considered the feminine symbol. Anyone want to venture as to why that is?” She looked around the room for answers. “Mars, which looks like this, is considered the masculine symbol. Guess again as to why?” This was fun, wasn’t it? “Now what we do with these symbols is line them up to find the best matches. If you look at my chart my sun sign falls in Libra, which is my birth sign. Many of you will have this same type of thing. Your own sign is supposed to be your strongest match. I know.. I know people always say opposites attract, but if you think about it, do they really? What do you really have in common with someone that is the total opposite of you?” She had never found anyone she could be around more than a few months that was total opposite, WELL dating at least, but when it came to being just social she loved to be around everyone. “Now some of you will find your sun is not in your birth sign, which is fine too, it just means that your sign is very compatible with this other sign. Venus being the more feminine is going to be a match that emotionally you are equal to, or well compatible for. They will understand your inner needs more. The more comforting, loving, sympathetic type needs. Whereas Mars being the more masculine is going to be your adventure and attraction type of compatibility. They are going to be those ones that you fit better with in interest and an attraction on their looks. “ Did they realize what they were doing now? “So our next step is to find out what Zodiac signs are most compatible with us. Now this doesn’t mean that others are not. No, people can get along with any match up, it just might me a little extra work. The ones that find their true sign match can find the easiest ways to get along.” Which is what she’d rather prefer. “If you look at mine you will see that my sun and Venus are in Libra, so my strongest match is my own sign, though Venus if you look is on the border of Libra and Scorpio, so Scorpio would be considered another close match. My Mars symbol is in Aquarius so this would be my third compatible sign. Take a few moments and see where those three signs are and write them down, you will need them for the next part of the class.” |
Now they were going to find their best relationship matches. That should be interesting. Jasmine was ready to give it a try. First though, Professor Cassie asked a question about Venus and Mars. Jasmine raised her hand to offer her thoughts. "I think Venus is considered the feminine symbol because Venus was the Roman goddess of beauty, love and pretty much all things girly. You can't get more feminine than that. Mars was the god of war so he would represent strength, testosterone and manliness." Having given her answer, Jasmine set to work on her chart. |
