Uh making their own birth charts? That's sounds both complicated and way too difficult.. Zander looked back over at his two Slytherin friends (Simon and Ethan). Was this for real? Did they actually have to make one of those? Realizing that his fifteen minutes were almost up, the Gryffindor decided to give the birth chart thing a try after all. After a bunch of scribbling and erasing and more scribbling he finally came up with something that look a little coherent. SPOILER!!: Chaaart At least they weren't snapping anymore? |
One look at the birth chart told him all he needed to know: that it was confusing and if he ended up leaving here without a headache, it would be a freaking miracle. Having flipped his textbook to the right page, Grayson stared down at the chart, his eyebrows furrowed. What did all of this MEAN?! How was he meant to understand any of this? None of it made sense. He even tried to flip the textbook upside down in an attempt to understand it all but did it help? No. All it did was make him look like a loony to anyone who wa looking his way. Great. Just great. Flippin his textbook back the right way, the Slytherin stares at it some more. Fine. Whatever. He was going to draw this and include all the information that was required from him. Which, apparently, included his place of birth? Ipswich was freaking BORING. Nothing even HAPPENED there. He'd much rather have been born in an exciting place. One that was BUZZING. But noooOOOOoooo! Picking up a crayon, he started drawing somethig or another onto his piece of parchment. SPOILER!!: Birth chart Done. Now he can go back to scowling at the balloons while he waited for an explanation about all of this. And were those cookies? |
So they were going to be creating their own birth chart. Birth Chart? Cris remembered coming across something like this when he happened to be browsing a magazing on birth signs. He wondered whether the birth chart was the same as the Natal Chart. So he raised his hand to ask the Professor. "Professor is the Birth Chart the same as what some people refer to as the Natal Chart?" Cris was curious to know, even as he turned to Page 135 in his book and read how he was supposed to go about doing one. He scribbled down his name, birthdate, the place he was born and yes he even know what time he was born. 10 points for curiosity. Then looking up at the example Professor Morgan had shown them, Cris began drawing out his birthchart. SPOILER!!: Birth Chart What this all meant, Cris suspected that Professor Morgan would explain. |
Mack stared at the book as it explained how to draw the birth chart. "What the-" The blonde looked around at some of the other students who were busy drawing, and she looked back down at her blank paper then the book again. Once again she read the lesson on how to create this chart and began to draw slowly.. Carefully making the circle as perfect as possible. Mackenzie smiled as she finished the circle, and went to work on the rest grinning broadly once she was finished. SPOILER!!: chart |
It helped a little bit that the professor explained astrology to a greater degree, since Mo specifically objected to it for the exact reason that she expressed - how could everyone in the same sign be the same? Maybe this little exercise, with crayons and circles and lines, would open up the world just a LITTLE bit. Even a little bit would be an improvement. Mo flipped open his book and studied the instructions closely before grabbing the first crayon and getting to work. It was complicated and colorful and very very bright, and Mo wasn't sure he had any idea what it meant, but at least he had a finished product. |
Birth Charts sounded pretty sweet! Of course when the Gryffindor had flipped open to the page she just blinked. But yeah it looked cool. Wait what? Professor say what? They had to make one... By themselves!! Nooooooo... She wasn't even good at normal non coloring stuff. Sighing she grabbed some crayons and started to fill out her chart. She better not mess up. Finished, she looked down at her work, and nodded she had down welll. She was pleased that she hadn't in fact messed up. SPOILER!!: Chart |
... For a moment Lex just stared at Professor Smiles. She...didn't really see what was so unprofessional about having an opinion on astrology. It was like her saying Arithmancy was rubbish--which she did--just an opinion. "Er.....he did Professor and does...sometimes in lessons when people confuse the two. He isn't disrespecting anyone's subject or Profession on account of Astrology not being a Profession nor a subject." Though she did suppose it could be covered in Divination like it was now but still, Airey was only stating that planets lining up didn't influence the way you behaved. There was just too much science involved for it to be real. "And I don't think he'd appreciate what you're implying as a result of his opinion." Just saying. Airey fell into favourite territory and Lex might have given the Professor the wrong impression about him. NOT what she was trying to do and she didn't think she liked where Professor Smiles was going. Lex slumped forward on the table, trying to remind herself not to take it so seriously while she munched on a severed heart. They tasted better broken, was she the only one who noticed? All the love seeped out and gone somewhere else, truly lovely. While chewing she vaguely listened to what the Professor was on about and found herself proving herself right. It couldn't be real. Months and days had nothing to do with the person she was. They couldn't. There was no explanation except the planets aligned so it must be true. She wasn't a Ravenclaw but she couldn't accept that. What she COULD do was the chart, which she did. |
Jasmine opened her book with excitement. She thought it would be fun to make her own birth chart. She was curious to see what kind of information she could get from that. Not that she was 100% buying the zodiac thing, but she wanted to see if the information reflected what she thought of herself. Jasmine wrote down the necessary information and began to work on her chart. Could all of these lines and circles and numbers actually tell something about her? She would have to wait and see. Looking down at her work, Jasmine was satisfied.......confused, but satisfied. SPOILER!!: Jasmine's Birth chart |
Cinna just beamed at the professor. She sure did know her divination. Yep yep. As she continued to talk Cinna nodded her head at some of the points she had made. Mostly about people like her dad for one thought astrology was rubbish. Dads were dumb like that sometimes. The third year pulled out her book and flipped to page 193? Oh yeah there it was. Birth charts. She looked up from the book to the poster. She listened to professor Morgan as she talked about her birth chart. PIZZA! Man why did she have to mention pizza. Focus. Divination time now. Pizza later. Oh Professor Morgan was a Libra? Cool. Cinna was a Taurus. She knew that of courses she know that. Alright drawing time! This lesson couldn't get any better. Okay maybe it could. The Gryffindor got right to work on her birth chart. Luckily she knew all of the answers to the questions asked? Even the time she was born. Taking the parchment and crayons she drew out her birth chart. Once she was done she held the parchment up proud of how it turned out. So pretty and astrology-like. SPOILER!!: |
That woman was saying so many things Agatha could barely follow. Besides, it was all quite boring too. The Slytherin thought it might be real though, otherwise they wouldn't be taught such things at Hogwarts. That didn't make any of that more interesting and that crazy looking chart didn't help either. But she followed all the instructions on page 135 closely and came up with a chart. Text Cut: Parchment What an odd thing. The third year wondered if she had done it right and tried looking at other classmates' work, but they all looked strange as well. She had a strange feeling about this subject AND she was a bit suspicious of the snaps. What was that teacher trying to do? Hypnotise them or something? Agatha narrowed her eyes a bit and watched the professor. What a weird woman. |
Simon nodded in agreement with the really nice Professor. Mhmm he thought. Reading those horoscopes were sort of fun Then the Professor instructed them to turn to page 135 in their textbooks. He eyed the textbook and jotted down some notes. Now they had to replicate that chart? Simon gulped. Oh boy. He wasn't exactly a good artist (nor was he a bad one either) and was very shy when it came to showing off his work. Simon glanced around the room briefly and made eye contact with Zander. He gave his friend a worried look as well before shrugging his shoulders. They'd make it through wouldn't they? He picked up a crayon and started drawing. Scribble. Scribble. In the end, he had somewhat replicated the chart sort of well. He didn't understand what the chart at the bottom left meant, but he was sure that the Professor would explain everything next. SPOILER!!: chart |
Beverly nodded and jotted down a few important points here and there. Opening her book, she took her SWEET OLE time getting to page 135. Page ten... Page 19... Page 35... Page 47... Page 61... Page 73... Page 82... Page 98... Page 110... Page 117... Page 126...Page 132... And finally, page 135. Skimming through it her head whipped up once pizza was mentioned. WHAT? WHERE? She wanted it ALL. Oh--wait. BOO. Professor Morgan was using it as an example. There really wasn't any pizza. Welp. Disappointment of the day right THERE. She'd get pizza later, that she was certain of. For now, though, there was this birth chart thing to focus on. Snatching the box of crayons, she glanced back at the book, then at her parchment. Then back at her book. It went like that as she worked along. Book, parchment, draw, and repeat. Then masterpiece. BOOM! |
Interesting. Cassia jotted down the new information. She wasn't sure they ever studied the or talked about the zodiac signs in detail. Surely it must have been mentioned before but it was good to know all what was there to know. Flipping her book open to page 135, the snake examined the page closely while still listening to what Professor Morgan was saying. She could do that, mhhm. And it seemed that this lesson wasn't a dull and theoretical one but they were actually going to do stuff already. That was fun. Having got a parchment out already she only needed to snatch a couple of crayons and she was ready to start making this birth chart. She LIKED working with crayons and drawing stuff. Though here she had to follow instructions and be careful. This was going to determine personality stuff. It had to be done perfectly. She wasn't sure how much it took her to finish it, but since the professor hadn't said time was over, it surely meant that the fifteen minutes didn't run out. And she was finished! SPOILER!!: Cassia's Birth Chart |
Michael stared at the Professor as she went on about Valentines Day and how they all should love each other and if his eyebrows raised any higher they would no longer be on his forehead. And what was with the snaps? The Professor ought to be proud that he was still sitting in his chair because Michael had the strong desire to get up and leave. And his parents wondered why he skived off classes. Anyhoo since it looked like he was going to stay, he flicked to page 135 of his textbook and he had to refrain from rolling his eyes. He could already tell that this was going to be boring work. But after reading through the text, he picked up the crayons and began drawing his chart. |
The Birth Chart : it's wonderful!! Lucy opened her book and writed her name, her birthdate, the place and the Time of her birth..She was born at two o' clock.. Done! Birth Chart OOC: Sorry for the symbol of Ravenclaw..A little mistake!!! |
Heh, Leah was correct! Well, she did not give much information, but at least she was right. Professor Cassie spoke again and she focused once again. Love, it was a wonderful topic. She opened her book gingerly to the directed page and skimmed it. Making their own chart. Yay, that was fun! Making stuff was always fun for the Badger. Indeed, the completed birth chart looked like a pizza. It was interesting, but very confusing. Leah hoped that her drawing was correct or at least close. This was difficult. SPOILER!!: Birth Chart |
Ohhh...UGH. This sounded hard. This was why Sophie hated Divination, Ancient Runes, and Arithmancy. None of it made sense--absolutely none of it. She flipped to the correct page in her textbook and just stared at it. So what they were doing today, in other words, was finding out which types of people they were compatible with... Freaky. What if Sophie found out she was compatible with some weirdo? Ew. Anyway... Sophie set to work trying to complete her chart. She had no clue what she was doing, but meh. Every once in a while, she glanced up to see that most of the class looked like they were already done. ARGH. She scribbled quickly but carefully and was finally able to come up with a chart. |
...Is it reaaalll, is it just fantaaasssyyy? He wanted to sing for some reason as the professor gave out SNAPS and her next instruction. Even if his answer wasn't acknowledged, he believed it still has something to do with their fates. Or maybe not? Oh, Merlin, he will never understand this subject, ever. But hey they were going to draw and stuff! He caught Zander's worried look then turned to Simon too and gave them a shrug. The earlier they get this done, the faster they'll be out of the pink room. That's the plan, right? Ethan got his Divination book and turned to page 135, only to deadpan at the drawing. They were going to make that?? Merlin, where is Mordred when you need him? He was the artsy guy in the family. Sighing but grinning, Ethan took one of the crayons from the box and started to draw with his tongue sticking out in concentration. Let's do this. Doodle, doodle, doodle. And...tadaaaaaah! Not the best drawing out there, but this will do, right? |
Cassie walked around excited to see all the wonderful work the students were doing. She snapped a few times as she moved around. "Wonderful just wonderful all of you." They made her happy to see how busy they were, but of course there would be questions, she had been expecting this. Quote:

Glancing at her once more she just smiled, "I'm not sure he'd appreciate a student being distracting in a classroom by trying to say he doesn't like the subject either Miss Cambridge." Turning her attention towards the other students she moved towards the front of the room again. Once in the front of the room again and seeing everyone finishing up she pulled out a picture. "Now we will get to some fun soon, but I just want to do a small over view of your birth charts, because some." Glances at Miss Cambridge "Seem to have a very poor misunderstanding for the subject of Astrology. So I'd like to show you a bit of how your birth chart is made up. If you look at your chart you can see the slices I was talking about that look like a pizza. These are the wheel of houses. It shouldn't be confused by the Zodiac Wheel, they are two different things. The Zodiac Wheel is based on the earths rotation around the sun, where as the house wheel is based on the twenty four hour rotation on it's own axis. If you look for the sun sign which looks like this. The sun represents are egos or better yet what others will see about us. . So depending on which house your sun lies in will be some of your major traits. Now to find which house it is in. Look here, see where my sun is, now move to the center. you will see little numbers 1-12 in the center. These are the house number. So my sun is in the 12th house." She glanced around to see if they understood. "Now that isn't all that makes us up, so that's why you can't just take someones sign and combine them with all other Pieces or whatever sign they are in. You can't just combine them all with people that have a sun in the fifth house either. You must look at the sun, moon, and other planets and how they are aligned in the houses. The moon for example is the inner person. The moon sign looks like this. This will tell more of what inner traits you carry. Again we will look for the moon, then go down and see which number. If you look on mine you will see the moon is in the 10th house." Sticking the two pictures up near the zodiac poster, Cassie turned excitedly towards the class. "Now before we get into why we are doing this on Valentine's day, why don't you take a moment and look up your sun and moon and then check with your book what house it is in and what that means." Thinking for a moment she moved towards Mo's book and leaned down a second. "Do you mind?" without waiting for him to answer she flipped the page then flipped back to the chart for him. "Thank you." Standing up and looking at the class again. "Page 138 has the sun signs in the houses and 140 has the moon signs in the houses. Just go ahead and take a moment, see what your sun and moon say about you. " Checking her watch she figured this little add in wouldn't hurt their time. Some needed to know more about Astrology, so she was using this teachable moment. OOC: *sighs* Steven's extra clingy since mommy came back home is making it hard for me to get a morning and night post in. So hopefully that will change soon! You guys are doing great, just have them react to their signs don't need to make a tone of notes or anything like that. If your charrie doesn't want! I swear these are all not going to be this long! She got winded, because she's so passionate about this subject!!! |
Looking at his Birth Chart he noticed that his sun was in the first house.. well according to his book.. So.. he read the paragraph under the first house thingy.. which told him how his ego was.. hmmmm "my sun is in the first house" he said to himself. "important to myself.. but also cares about others.. blah blah.. ermm.. wants to be noticed and shine.. well thats not to bad.." he kept reading to himself and then he looked for his moon. "and my moon is…..the fifth" as he looked down to make sure.. yupp the fifth. now he read that to himself as well. "wow this was crazy it didn't seem like him at all.. and what was all this children talk about.." he eyeballed the page… "romances… mood swings.. what???" he was glad he wasn't saying this out loud because it was pretty crazy stuff. |
More snapping. Ethan had to duck his head as he hid his grin from everyone else including Simon and Zander. The boy wondered about how they are coping with this…snapping thing. He had to bite his lip though when he thought of Grayson’s facial reaction earlier. Merlin, that boy IS funny. Inhaling, he contained his grin-slash-smile and concentrated on what was now…going on in front. Okay, so basically this is a…get-to-know-yourself better part now, eh? Okay. This should be interesting. It wouldn’t hurt to know more about himself, no? Ethan got his book again and flipped to the next page and looked at the chart he made. The chart says that his Sun is located on the Third House, and it says there: Quote:

Okay, so they needed to find their Sun and Moon symbols and see what House they were in? That seemed nice, but this talk of pizza was making her really hungry. Aaah. Grabbing another cookie, Lux looked towards her chart trying to find that circle with another circle in the middle. There it is... In the First House. Now what did that mean? Flipping to the right page of her textbook, she read the description and blinked. This doesn't describe me at all... When did she ever think more about herself than others? Very rarely! And she was definitely not power-seeking. O_o Shaking her head at the inaccuracy of her Sun, Lux moved along to looking for her Moon. Okay, that was an easy one to find: it was in the Tenth House. Turning to the correct page, she read up on what that meant. I'm not that fussed with achievement and what others think of me... But she did have charisma, and she did desire to be useful. So that was at least something. |
Mention Jasmine Cris studied his birth chart before leaning over to peek at Jasmine's. Then he smiled at her before pulling his over to show his birth chart to her. "Looks like my sun sign is in my 3rd house, while my moon sign falls in the 12th house. Let's see what this means," Cris quickly flipped to Page 138 to read what it said for his sun sign. Text Cut: Sun sign in the 3rd House Okay...some of the traits sounded positive while others...hmmm...He wasn't impatient and proud...was that how people saw him? Cris hoped not. Cris quickly turned to page 140 of his book, hoping that the position the moon sign was on his birth chart represented something better. Text Cut: Moon Sign in the 12th House Egad! this didn't sound better either. Cris looked desperately at Jasmine. His moon sign made him sound like a matyr. Plus that issue with his mother. He loved his mother, and would worry if anything were to happen to her, but it was actually his father who was causing him the distress right now. So yes, that sounded inaccurate. How much else was? |
Again. Sooo much talking. But Adi tried to hang on to every word. So far he was pleased with his progress in the lesson and he did not intend to screw that effort up. He turned to the page in the text book that dealt with the sun and houses first. The Sun was in the first House: Quote:

Pizza... mmm. She could go for some of that right about now. Pizza complimented cookies well if you asked her. Speaking of cookies, the first year picked up another one and popped it into her mouth while she looked back at the Picking out the symbols were easy enough. She found the one that symbolized the sun and noted that sun was in the second house. That one did kind of describe her well. Moving on to the moon, she noted that it was in the eleventh house. "PFFFT!" came out of her mouth before she could stop it. That didn't sound like her at all. She had always had more guys friends than girls, but that did kind of change once she got to Hogwarts. |
