Geez, was he glad he didn't have to deal with kids for a looong time. "How do you usually prefer to dress?" he asked, turning to the boy with a raised eyebrow. Maybe he just had terrible fashion sense and his mother was trying to save him from it; it certainly seemed that way based on his selection of shoes.

Lou bit at his bottom lip to keep from laughing, considering for a moment if he should just be honest with the kid or drag the little joke a little longer. Hmmm. He opted for the latter.

He was only saying that because he had a BADGE on his chest. Besides when they were at Hogwarts they were supposed to wear uniforms a lot. "I like to wear shorts a lot and jeans and sweat pants and t-shirts with funny words on them. I have my dad take me to Muggle consignment shops," Did Louis know what those were? "They're stores that are FULL of people's old clothes so you can find all sorts of funny things." And they were usually really comfy too.

This no candy stuff was serious though. He'd only just gotten away from home where he was allowed to eat whatever he wanted and now there was a chance that he'd get sick AND not be able to eat candy. "But...there should a be a potion that can work even with candy. I bet Professor Culloden would know. Has the Healer asked him? I'll owl my mom and ask, she's a Healer at St. Mungo's!" he added. She wasn't one that dealt with sick people but she still had to know something about germs, right?? Ezra had the sudden urge to both stuff his face with as much candy as possible now before the inevitable and to run to the Owlery.

Ezra's style sounded innocent enough, at least he didn't say he liked to wear girls' dresses or something. "Funny words?" Lou repeated inquisitively. He didn't even want to know what was a 'funny word' to an eleven-year-old. "Is your dad muggle?"

Whoa, whoa. The kid certainly seemed interested in finding some loophole to the nightmare of a candy-less isolation in the Hospital Wing. Was he secretly related to Bay or something? "Mm, there probably is, but it's not as efficient as the others," said Louis with a shrug. "Yeah, you should probably ask. Maybe you'll find a way around it." Or maybe he'd find out that his trustworthy prefect had been lying to him all along. Somehow, the thought only amused Lou.

An so it seemed the talk of animals seemed to lighten up Donny's face, and the blonde simply nodded several times when he sounded excited talking about his toad. Bump. That was slightly odd, but once Tag thought about it, Bump sorta had a toad name sound to it. "I didn't know he came from a shelter. Was he already named or did you get to know him? He has a very toad like name." Tag said. "Yeah. Definitely a muggle one." He answered happily. Was there even some sort of shelter for magical creatures? All the questions.

"Its your favorite?" Tag asked, though Donny didn't have to answer, he just did. "Mine's fizzing whizbee. If we're talking magical that is. But muggle chocolate would be peanut butter cups." Tag said. Mmmm. What he would give to have some of those right now. "Do you have a favorite magical candy?" Like ones he could find at Sugarplums or Honeydukes.

Oh, Bump! Bump was the best pet he'd ever had. Of course, he'd only ever had one other pet, but Bump really was great. Whoever had given Bump to the shelter in the first place obviously wasn't thinking straight. Too bad! "Yeah, I adopteds- adopted him a year ago! He likes flies!" Donny said and searched for the matchbox he usually kept in one of his pockets. "Want to feed him?" He picked Bump up off the ground and placed him in his lap. "They named him before I got him. But I thinks.. I think it's cause toads are warty, you know? BUMPY."
He watched Tag and oohed, how many muggles did Tag know??? "THAT'SSOCOOL!" He'd like to work with animals too one day, dolphins, of course. Or whales, he wasn't too picky. Was there such a thing as cetacean shelters?

Favourites were difficult, especially when it came to sweets. "I'm not suuure.. I like chocolate frogs too. And lollipops." Elodie gave him lollipops. Elodie was awesome. Favourite Hufflepuff. "Good choice! ..what are peanut butter cups?" Cups with peanut butter in them, of course, but how did that work?! "As long as it's got sugar in it I'm a fan!" Why limit yourself to just ONE type of sweets?

AH the courtyard. What a relaxing change of scenery from the busy house table and common room and being yelled at by potions professors and quills that break all over your beautiful notes. It was so serene and calm and nice. AND Ah. The courtyard is such a reliable place. No matter what you can always count on it for being a perfect place to kick your feet back and breathe a little.

Zander walked towards the beautiful centered fountain. This thing sure is old. Even the fountain was nice and tranquil. This was just a wonderful place to be. Plopping his butt right on the edge of the fountain, probably not the safest place to sit, he took out a piece of parchment from his bag and began writing a letter to send back home.

Dear Mother,
Hi. It's Zander! Well you probably recognized the owl. So you already know that. Anyways, it's been a pretty long couple of days and we've already had a couple of classes! I've met some new friends JUST LIKE YOU TOLD ME TO! I hope you're happy......

Eh. He hadn't reaaaallyyy made any friends yet.
And technically he hadn't made any enemies, yet. Unless you count the potions professor, but he yelled at almost everyone. He HAD talked to a few people here and there though. So that must count for something. Besides he wasn't lying. Just stretching the truth. Now, what else was there to say?

Justine had been in severe need of time outdoors, seriously, sitting in classrooms all day had made the girl feel unusually restless and itchy, so naturally her first decision after her last lesson was to get out into the school grounds. It was a lovely day, perfectly warm with a hint of a breeze and as Justine made her way through the somewhat crowded courtyard, she already found herself feeling one hundred times better.

Shrugging off her blazer, Justine took a seat on the fountains edge and rolled up her shirt sleeves (if her mother could see her doing that she'd FAINT). Ahhh, so much better! Maybe she could charm her skirt into shorts really quickly... That would have just been lovely.

Glancing around, Justine was a bit surprised to see the younger boy from Astronomy sitting near her. How on earth had she so totally failed to see him before was beyond the Fake Parisian, naturally she would have to remedy this. Scooting over on the fountain edge, Justine positioned herself closer to the younger boy and was about to address him when realization hit.

Justine still didn't know the boy's name. That was a bit problematic, how did you go about addressing someone without knowing they're name? "Excuse me.. 'Ello again," Justine charmingly said, tapping the boy lightly on the shoulder from behind.

Tag listened to Donny and nodded his head when he mentioned that his toad was adopted. Which made Tag smile even more. Adopting animals was such a nice feeling, wasn't it? "He's adopted?! That's even more sweet you know. Better than buying a toad, you helped Bumpy right here by adopting him." Tag said, giving the top of the toad's head a gentle pet. "Feed him? Do you have food on you?" The blonde had no idea what toad's ate, you know. Donny, that was your job. "Yeah, yeah. Warty toad. Bumpy is a perfect name for him." Tag said, agreeing with the young hufflepuff.

You know, Stella was adopted, Tag's kneazle, and he liked that feeling, getting an animal in need of help and a safe home. Or, as safe as the Kildare's house can get. Then there came lots of nods, and an even bigger smile when Donny seemed to like? the idea of Tag working with animals. Yes, the blonde totally agreed with Donny's excitement.

"Ohhh. Chocolate frogs are good. You just have to make sure you catch them before they jump out of the box." That was the tricky part about that one candy, you know. Tricky indeed. "Do you have a favorite lollipop flavor?" Tag asked, merely out of curiosity. "Peanut butter cups, are shaped somewhat like the wrapping of a cupcake. And it has chocolate, but on the inside of it, it has peanut butter inside. Peanut butter cups." Tag explained. Hopefully Donny understood that. "I agree. As long as it has sugar, I'll most likely like it!"

His fellow Irish-bro thought that was sweet of him. (!!!) Donny grinned proudly and nodded again. Of course, he hadn't asked for a toad when applying for the adoption thingy, but he'd known that a dolphin wasn't something you just adopted. They preferred the sea. "Yeah! I even gots him a cape." How many people could say that their toad was a superhero, hmm? "I do! In here!" Donny said pointing towards the matchbox. He'd managed to catch a fly earlier that day. "Flies are his favourite." That was what the shelter had told him, but he wasn't sure how they had discovered. Donny made sure Bump was paying attention and then opened the box.

Animals, sweets, what else did Tag like? They had danced by the lake that one time.. in his first or second year. That was when he had tried using dolphin fins to swim, all of his attempts had been unsuccessful so far. "And don't confuse them with your pets!" Donny scratched his chin and wondered if anyone ever had confused the two of them. Ew. "Strawberry. It's a classic!" There weren't a lot of sweets he didn't like, except for the grape flavoured stuff. Don't eat the grape stuff.

"Uhuhhhh..." Those sweets sounded strange.. Really strange. He usually put peanut butter on his sandwiches, but he hadn't ever tried the chocolatey peanut butter cups so who was he to judge? He obviously had to try them. "Do muggles have lotsa weird sweets?" Muggles were missing out on the whole jumping chocolate stuff, surely they had other cool stuff.

"Yeah like 'poo' and 'bro' and 'YOLO' whatever that one means. They sound funny and sometimes there are shirts with cats on them with sunglasses. Pretty neat huh? I can show you some of them in the Common Room later if you want!?" That would be FUN, uh-huh! The next question caught the first year off guard though. "No, he doesn't drive me there he let's me Apparate with him. POP!" he did a like shimmy motion as if he was being squeezed through a tube which is what it felt like when doing it. "Have you ever Apparated before?" 'Was he old enough' Ezra wondered to himself.

"I bet my mum will know!" His dad too since he read so much. He'd find out and tell Louis and the Hogwarts Healer after he sent his letter home.

It was kind of lame, but then Mo didn't know any Muggles at all and didn't have this problem. He wrinkled his nose thoughtfully as he considered her dilemma. It didn't change his answer, honestly, except that it made the stakes a bit more dire. "But you can't tell her. You tell her anything, and they'll take away her memory. They'll take it away every time you tell her, and it'll just ruin her brain forever. Eventually, she won't remember you at all, or she'll remember that she vaguely blames you for ruining her life but not why. For her protection, you can't tell her. You know that."

She did know. He could tell. "It would be better to stop being friends with her, honestly. If you care about her. You can never really tell her who you are or what makes you tick. You can't share your interests with her. Maybe write to your mum instead."

What else should he write? Term had literally just started. Why did his mother insist on a letter SO soon. Ugh. What more was there to say. There was nothing interesting going on except for the fact that he managed to get bitten by a fellow classmate and that he exploded his quill in astronomy.

Speaking of exploding quills.... IT was HER! The beautiful girl who had saved Zander on that misfortunate day. And she was talking to him!? Oh how wonderful, how absolutely fantastic, how-- wait. What was her name again? "It's YOU! I never really got to say thank you for helping me with the whole quill incident. I, uh, really, you know, appreciated it. You kind of saved me from a huge mess." She was like some superhero with a really strange accent. A little hard to understand, but she saved the day so who cared! "So... Thank you, thank you a lot for that." He beamed at her.

Again with the sudden nerves. And the butterflies. And the panic sweat. What was going on with him? AH.

Kace decided it was time to make his visit to the courtyard. He forgot about this place. He never came here last year. He just didn't have the time. Plus everyone knew about this place so it got quiet. He didn't find this place too crowded today. He saw some students were here but they were nuisances. He got his sketchbook out and thought it would be the perfect place to work on his graffiti art.

He spread out a nice blanket onto the courtyard. Why not enjoy this beautiful day right? He sat down on his blanket and he opened up and thought about which character to draw. He then thought of a logo and started to sketch and draw.

Then Tag's mouth dropped open. A cape for a toad. Now that was something else, and kind of a funny image. It made him smile a bit. "Have you put it on him yet? Does he look awesome? So awesome he could save the day from any danger?" Bumpy the superhero toad. Now that was something else. "My sister got my kneazle a leash. Stella, my kneazle, hates it." Tag shared. So did Lottie but, Hogwarts was a big place and Tag didn't want to lose Stella whenever he took her out to the grounds. There came a slight cringe, weird face from Tag. Eww flies. It made sense that toads would eat flies? But you know what, Tag was actually okay not feeding Bumpy flies. "You can feed him if you want, though. He is your pet after all."

"Yeah, that'd be bad. But I think you could taste the difference of a chocolate frog and a normal toad or frog." Mhm. But still, like Donny said, don't mistake them. "Strawberry, I'll keep that in mind." Tag said nodding. Maybe Honeydukes when it came around?

Tag laughed a bit. Did Donny think peanut butter cups sound weird? They really weren't but Donny might be more used to magical candy? "No, nothing weird that I can think of. Definitely nothing as strange as magical candy. But, if you're lucky, you might find these lollipops that have insects in them. Never had the guts to try those before, though." Those were weird, and probably disgusting muggle candies.

"It vas really nothing, I'm sure you could 'ave done zee same for me," Justine said, shrugging off the boy's thanks with a practiced ease. Really, she wasn't too good at accepting thanks or compliments, she was trying to do better, but usually she ether shrugged it off or made it into a joke.

This time however, she was trying to be gracious. "You're velcome, but 'onestly it vasn't a big deal," She said as the boy continued his heartfelt thanks.. She was starting to feel a little uncomfortable, not because he was saying anything wrong, but because she just didn't know how to deal with such sincere praise.

"I'm awful for not remembering zis, but vhat vas your name again?" Justine delicately asked, hoping not to cause the boy offense.

Angel had decided to go for a walk around this new place, she had loads of places that she could explore but first she wanted to see what was outside, she smiled as she came across a courtyard and then she suddenly say someone doing something she decided to be nice and speak to them.

"What you dooooooooing?" Angel asked hoping that the boy wouldn't mind her asking him.

He was impressed, yep. You didn't see a superhero toad every day, it was only normal to be impressed. "I have! Wait!" Donny searched his pockets, but instead of the toad-cape he found a miniature top hat. Toads totally rocked the top hat. "When he's feelin fancy." He placed the hat on the toad's head. Bump didn't seem to mind it and calmly sat in his lap. Good toad. "My toad is fas'ionable. I just forgot his cape." He should've come prepared! Donny made a mental note to always have his toad gear on him, just in case he had to impress people. Eh. Cats, kneazles.. they were all pretty much the same thing, weren't they?
Donny didn't really see the appeal in cats. Cats were lazy and looked like they'd be mean if they were people. Dogs on the other hand.. dogs were the fun people. "You take your cat for walkses?" He asked and grinned when Bump easily caught the fly.

Duh. Of course you'd taste the difference, toads liked water and dirt and frogs liked.. dirt and other stuff. He smiled and nodded. "Always check!" Donny felt quite important, sharing his sweet-related wisdom. People usually didn't want to spend an entire conversation talking about them. Barbaric. "And you, have you gots a favourite lollipop?" Donny didn't bother asking if he liked lollipops. Everyone liked lollipops.

"Maybe I'll try them nesst summer! When I visit my gran!" His grandmother usually let him eat all the sweets he wanted, his mother though.. she didn't like it when Donny got hyper, so no sweets in Howth! Insects. Wow, muggles really had guts. Eating insects and stuff. He supposed it was like eating pork or beef, but.. they didn't come with tiny legs that got stuck between your teeth. Tag hadn't even tried them.. "But.. you're a Gryffindor, aren't you s'posed to be brave?" Not that he was calling him a wimp, of course not. He wouldn't dare. Surely there were things scarier than insect lollipops out there, was Tag afraid of those too???? "Maybe insects look icky to keep us from eating them, cause they taste good." Defence, yo.

Kace was sooo into his drawing, he didn't even know someone crept up on him. He looked up and smiled towards the girl. "Oh nothing much, just doodling a logo." he said showing her his drawing. He hoped she liked it. If she didn't, then it was her own opinion. "I am Kace by the way.." he said extending his hand.

But it really wasn't nothing. It meant that Zander had clean notes! So it was something. And as for the second statement, the young Gryffindor just smiled and nodded. But he wasn't really sure if he actually would've done the same for her. Well, now that he knows her better of course! Before though... He would have been a little shy about it. But he would've have wanted to help her. That was the main point right? So yes. He nodded his head. "Well, it was a pretty big deal to me!" Another smile. This time an assuring smile.

"Oh! My name? I must've forgotten to introduce myself in class!" *Smacks head* How did he forget something as simple as that? "I'm Zander, Zander Adair." Then suddenly his cheeks flushed a bright pink. "I don't think I got your name either...." More sweat and more nerves. "And if you don't mind me asking, you said in Astronomy that you transfered here? Where did you transfer from?" What exactly was this accent. It sounded French??

Goodness, the boy was so sincere, and sweet, and kind of excitable, he reminded Justine a little of a puppy, especially with his innocent-looking-large-and-pretty eyes. It was kind of funny how all the boys Justine had met so far were so sincere as opposed to the Canadian girl who made everything a joke. "I'm just glad I could be of some 'elp," Justine replied, returning the boy's smile with one of her own.

Was he okay? He seemed to suddenly be rather pink in the face, was he too warm? Justine resisted the urge to ask, lest she embarrass the younger boy. She laughed as the boy smacked himself in the head, chastising himself for not having given her his name previously. "It's understandable, I mean, ve vere in zee middle of class, not zee best place to make new friends," Justine joked. Zander, interesting name, Justine decided it rather suited the young boy.

"I'm Justine Janvier, it's nice to meet you.. Again," Justine teased, before considering the boy's next question. She had told herself she was going to stop telling people she was from Paris and start telling the truth, that she was actually French Canadian, but so far that hadn't been working out. Just say you're from Quebec, go on, say it.

"Oui, I transferred here from Beauxbatons last term, I lived almost my whole life in Paris," So much for honesty

Lambrini hummed softly to herself as she walked out to the courtyard, her long, dark hair fluttering behind her. She needed to write her parents a letter to let them know how she was doing, and she figured this was as good a place as any to do it in. Finding an empty bench, she went to it and took a seat, crossing her legs and pulling her sweater tighter against her shoulders. She placed her bag beside her and opened it, digging out some parchment, a quill, some ink, and a book to use as her writing surface. Hmm. Now what to tell them...?

Lamb bit her bottom lip as she stared down at the paper, considering what else she should include in her letter.

Jakoby had lost Edgar. Repeat: HE HAS LOST EDGAR!!!!! One second, his cat had been up in his dormitory doing normal cat things then the next, HE WAS GONE. It did make this poor little Hufflepuff boy nervous because his cat had to take his medicine!

He scurried out into the courtyard while he yelled out, "EDGAR! EDGARRRRR!" As he ran, he stumbled over his own two feet a few times, but he had managed to catch his fall every time so that he did not face plant the stone pathway. "EDGAR, C'MERE HERE, BOY!"

Finally, as he became out of breath from running around the castle, he took a look at his surroundings. OH LOOK WHO IT WAS. "Lamb! Lamb, Lamb, Lamb!" He exclaimed as he walked over to her in a fast pace. "Have you seen Edgar? He was in my room not too long ago but......" He trailed off as he assumed she would get what he was trying to say. "He has to take his medicine!"

Tag curiously watched Donny as he seemed to be searching for something, then laughed, loudly, when Donny placed the top hat on Bumpy. There were several, serious nods from the blonde. "That's one fashionably fancy toad you've got there. Nice to meet you, sir." Tag said to Donny, then addressing Bumpy as he pretended to be taking off his own hat in greet to the toad. "I'll see his cape whenever he's off being superheroy." The blonde added smiling. "I 'try'. Stella just usually flops to the floor or I have to carry her everywhere."

Always check, of course, Tag just gave Donny a nod on that. He'll keep that in mind for next time, in case. Tag was a chocolate fan, so Donny' question was actually a bit hard for him. "Apple?" he always liked apple on candies that weren't chocolate. Yes, that was safe.

"Yeah, next summer. Honeydukes might sell them too. Might. Just don't forget them. Peanut butter cups." It was a very important job, Donnacha Harper. "Do you visit your gran often?" He didn't have to answer that, it was a slightly personal question. "I am a gryffindor, but there are things I'm just not going to do. Like eat insects." Tag listened to Donny and nodded. There must've been some sort of logic behind that, sure? "Yes, like, sometimes a food is too good looking to eat. So you don't and you save it!"

Zander nodded. Yeah the professors were all crazy strict about talking in class. But thankfully the Hogwarts population wasn't too big, so there were always opportunities like this to see friends outside of lessons. Ooh. Justine Janvier. It just rolled off your tongue. Justine Janvier. "Woah, your name is really pretty." Zander wanted to add a 'like you' at the end, but he was much too embarrassed to do so.

Beauxbatons? Like the french school for witches and wizards? Cool. "Beauxbatons, that's awesome! So where do you like it better, if you don't mind me asking?" He had never talked to a Beauxbatons transfer before. Were all wizarding schools like Hogwarts? "What was it like there?" He wanted to ask her so many questions because the boy was just so curious. But he thought it'd be intrusive and decided to slow down a bit.

Marigold listened to the older boy, expecting to hear some words of wisdom or something, but instead her heart filled with dread. He was telling her to stop being friends with Moo? How could she ever do that? Her eyes filled with tears and she hurriedly tried to brush them away. Foolish her, foolish McFly, foolish Moo, foolish magic. She was shocked at that last statement, but immediately brushed that aside too.

"Fine. I'll write to my mum. Thanks for all the help." She didn't usually get mad easily, but she was mad. Not at him, for he spoke the truth, but at herself.
