De-Gnoming? For some reason, it had never occurred to Lux that they might actually be asked to do that during the lesson. Pulling out her gloves, she had them in her hand when Toby voiced what she had wondered earlier. It was good that she was not the only one wondering if this practice would hurt the little creatures. Joining the others, she waited with her gloves still off. She was more than willing to do this if it it didn't hurt the Gnomes, but otherwise... Lux honestly didn't think she could do it. |
They're going to De-gnoming the garden? o____O Yeah, she's not looking forward to do that at ALL. Huh? Gloves? Yup, she brought her gloves with her but Professor Thompson's gloves looked very pretty. Its pink and gliterry but she's going to stick with her gloves. Yush. Gnomes, I'm coming for you! |
See, there were one of two ways Grayson was going to take the news of de-gnoming the garden. It sounded dull and boring and they were just GNOMES, for Merlin's sake. But on the flip side, you got the chance to whirl the creature round and round and then fling it across a fence. And, there was always the possibility of someone getting bitten. Maybe somebody falling over, too. Ha. HA. Yeah, he was looking forward to this. A small smirk spread across his face as he rummaged around in his bag before pulling out a pair of dragon hide gloves. Good. The last thing he wanted was to have to wear one of those PINK and GLITTERY gloves. No thank you. Strapping his gloves on, Grayson stepped inside the garden, his smirk widening. This was going to be GOOD. |
Bay knew it. he just knew it. Getting rid of the gnomes.. ughhh Listening to the professor's instructions he pulled his gloves out of his back pocket and put them on as he followed the rest of the class inside the gate. Once he was in he waited along the fence so he could hear the professor's next instructions, it was a tad windy and he wanted to hear everything clearly. |
Kate kept listening, trying to store all this information about the gnomes in case she ever need to use it. Like now. Because apparently they were going to be de-gnoming. Kate sighed. That seemed dangerous. Gloves were definitely a good idea, and possibly protective eyewear, though the professor didn't seem to have thought of that. Maybe protective eyewear was just a thing Muggle scientists did. Not magical scientists and gardeners. Kate walked confidently to the basket and bent to take out a pair of gloves without really paying attention to the gloves themselves. She was too worried about the possibility of getting bitten, or having a gnome accidentally flung at her. Based on how people had described the de-gnoming process, Kate was pretty sure she was more likely to be hit in the head by a flying gnome than have a gnome bite through her gloves. Oh. Her pink sparkly gloves. Kate blinked at the gloves on her hand, but shrugged. She might not be a girly-girl, but she didn't mind pink or sparkles. Actually, these pink sparkly gloves made her feel a bit more confident about not getting bit. Yup, she could do this. Flexing her hands in the gloves to make sure she'd be able to grip, Kate walked through the gate like she'd been told to do. |

Writing everything down in her journal rapid-fire style, the second year allowed the lesson to sink in fully, a smile forming on her pink lips. Degnoming a garden? Awesome. Anything that needed gloves was awesome, because gloves in class meant dangerous things were coming. And Caelen kind of liked dangerous. Dangerous meant adventure. And the small girl had a propensity for adventure. This was going to be a fun class. Smiling hard and clapping in excitement, the girl found that she really couldn't wait to degnome the garden. Slipping her gloves on like the second year was abut to go perform surgery, the Ravenclaw quickly thought of how this would be performed. It was important to get your head in the game with things like this. Running a gloved hand through her shoulder length hair, she sighed and then quickly tore the glove off of her hand and checked to make sure there was no dirt in her hair. Following everyone else, the twelve year old went into the garden and got ready to work. Her grade HAD to be awesome this year. |
Lucy wore her own gloves and she passed through the gates.. then she entered the garden.. Lucy thought:" Mom is a muggle, she has never de-gnomed the garden!" Her father had done it when he was young and he told her that he had threw them into a field cross the hedge...! But the gnomes had come back! Lucy was hoping that the professor Bentley would teach her a less painful method!... Poor gnomes! |
They actually had to de-gnome the garden? Hayden supposed she should have expected that, it was a logical analysis of her surroundings. Maybe she hadn't given it much thought because she didn't want to do it. She was much more suited to theory, something physical like this was not exactly how she wanted to spend her time. She'd have to get used to that in Care of Magical Creatures, apparently. With resigned movements, she pulled on her own pair of gloves and followed the rest of the class to the fence. |
It was just as she'd thought, they'd be de-gnoming the garden. It wouldn't be so bad, last time it was loads of fun. Those things didn't stand a chance against her or the entire class for that matter. She was ready for this, most definitely and even after the mention of gloves she still felt ready because the Professor had brought extras. GOOD. The Gryffindor was lucky enough to remember to take herself to CoMC, gloves was just asking too much. In her mind Herbology was the glove subject. In this one they didn't usually need gloves, just an open mind and a reluctance to harm ickle things that bit like merlin knew what. Lex temporarily left her bestie's side to go get a glove but drew sudden breaks when she saw they were PINK and glittery. Sweet Merlin this wouldn't work, it wouldn't work at all. She shot the Professor an incredulous look, silently questionging just how serious he was about them wearing these but he seemed pretty legit about it and people were takingthem without questions. With a heavy sigh she grabbed a pair then slapped them on. Ugly little buggers, weren't they? Lex drew her wand and with a tap to each she turned them into a lovely shade of pull sans the glitter. That was well gotten rid of. Sometimes, Transfiguration could prove really useful and now she was proper ready and entered the garden. |
Kace figured they were going to degnome the garden. He was glad the professor brought extra gloves. He forgot about his in his dorm. He left on his table meaning to take them. Ah well! He went over to the front of them classroom and took some from the desk. Then he went through the gate like the rest of his classmates. He hoped he wouldn't get bitten. That is all he asked for. |
Of course they were de-gnoming. What other purpose would they have with some gnomes? It was an easy enough task, really. It was a regular family ritual at her house, with her mum's extensive garden area. Poor Tobes, he sounded so alarmed at the task - but she knew it was just one of those things had to be done. The pink and glittery gloves were super stylish and cool, and Sophie almost wished she hadn't brought her own. But she wasn't desperate enough to use them that she'd lie and say she hadn't brought her own and pulled her pair from her bag, sliding them on her hands with ease as she passed into the garden, keeping an eye out for a particularly chunky gnome that would be fun to throw around. ...Maybe she could get Mo or someone to teach her some sort of color-changing charm so she could make her own gloves a fun color later? |

Pink and glittery.....seriously? The boy raised an questionable eyebrow at the man as he picked up a pair. "You have weird taste..." he said and pulled on the gloves. If only he knew how to change colors... |
Mentions of Jasmine, Bay and Lux How did Professor Thompson know that garden degnoming was one of his favorite pastimes? Well actually not really. On the contrary, if he had his way, he would allow the gnomes to roam freely. Heck, it was just as much their land as as the human inhabitants. If only they didn't do so much damage though. That was Cris' mother's pet peeve. She hated spending so much time in her garden, only to see it torn up and half eaten the next day. Donning on his gloves, he followed where Professor Thompson was taking them and walked through the gate. With everyone gathered around Professor Thompson, Cris moved a little closer to Jasmine, Bay and Lux and grinned at them. He couldn't wait to get started. |
De-gnoming! That was something she knew how to do, and she wasn't even hat bad at it! With the small ones, at least. Okay sometimes she shrieked when they got too close, but other than that. Norah tried to skip her way to the front to grab a pair of gloves, but the other students were far too tall for her to be able to do anything about them. Hmph. Being small was just no fun. When she finally reached the front, her face split into a huge grin. Ooooh, glitter! She reminded herself to forget her gloves next time, too. The gloves were too big for her bony hands but she put them on enthusiastically anyway, and followed the rest of the class to the garden. Ahem, could they move a little faster? She wanted to see some gnomes! |
Adi was no fan of garden gnomes but he had concerns about throwing them all over the place. Tobias asked the question he had in mind so the Puffer listened carefully for the Professor's response. In the meanwhile, he eyed the gloves that were provided. Pink AND Glittery? No thank you! Adi had brought his own, thank goodness so he pulled those on and moved towards the gate. |
Declan had a mini panic attack thinking that he might've forgotten his gloves, which would've meant he'd need to wear pink, glittery ones. Nope. Nope. He quickly dumped out his book bag and sighed loudly in relief when he found them under a textbook. Yaaay. After shoving all his stuff back in, he pulled on the gloves and followed the rest into the garden. LET'S DO THIS THING. |
So now that she was all magical and stuff maybe some gnomes would decide to visit her. That would be awesome, and even more awesome was that they were going to have some hand on experience with gnomes. "Wicked!" Oh, she had her own gloves so she didn't need to borrow the pink sparkly ones, which really weren't her style anyways. After she put her gloves on she found her sister and gave her a wink. This was going to be fun. AJ followed the rest of the class out to the garden. |
Oh just great. They were being tasked with his garden work. This wasn't class, this was slave labour. And Ascanius was pretty sure they had a Groundskeeper for this very reason. To clean out the gardens and such. With a scowl, he picked up some gloves (which didn't matter that they were pink 'cause he rocked them) and headed past the gate joining his other peers. Was it obvious he didn't wanna be here? Good. |
De-gnoming the garden. Brilliant. Why did the professors always insist on adding practical parts to their lessons? Olly sighed but reached for her own gloves anyway. She couldn't exactly leave now. And it wasn't THAT bad. At least she was quick to convince herself of that. And yes she'd brought her own gloves. Her old ones, of course. She wouldn't bring her brand new ones to a care of magical creatures class. So once she'd put on her gloves, Olly gestured towards the gate. "After you." At this she grinned over to Schuyler. Wasn't she being polite today, huh? |
De-gnoming??? Did that mean get rid of them??? Were they gonna turn the gnomes into stone to sell to muggle shops? Wow, didn't sound like caring for magical creatures to him, but Theo got out his gloves as instructed and stood by the gate anyway. Once his gloves were tightly on his hands, he sighed because this could only mean he had to touch a gnome. Not exactly the cutest of animals. |
He was not looking forward to degnoming no he was not. Butt he had his gloves which were tucked into his back pocket. Reaching under his robes he pulled them out before putting them on his hands, clearly he was not amused by any of this. So he walked towards and through the gate with a poker face of such. If he got bit, someone was getting hit. |
So they would be degnoming the garden. Fun 101. Nasty buggers whom many had said tended to bit and looked like ugly potatoes. Taking down the notes he needed, those which had been approved by the professor, soon enough he was packing them up into his robe pocket so they could actually move onto the activity. Benny exchanging the quill and parchment for his gloves that he had thankfully brought with him. Pink just wasn't his color. So with his nice, normally colored brown gloves in his grasp, the Gryffindor slipped them onto each of his hands and headed with the rest to the actual garden gate ready to get going with those gnomes. |
... De-gnoming. Great. Sounded nice and mindless and repetitive from what she'd read. So this could be fun. Or at least not terrible. ... Luckily, Derry had her own gloves, since they were permanently shoved into her robe pockets at this time of the year. She was NOT going to be seen DEAD in anything THAT colour. So she brought out her far-more-sensible normal-coloured gloves and slipped them on over her hands, following the rest of the class through the gate. C'mon, on with the next instruction. She wanted to have some FUN. |
De-gnoming. All right. That was some labor work right there but nothing Tag couldn't handle. It was magical creatures after all. So, seeing as Tag had forgotten his gloves he went to pick some of the spare ones and put them on. Pink. Eh, whatever, Tag could deal with it. After that he followed the rest of his classmates. |
De-gnoming the school garden? Now Gareth wondered why would he care and why would he spend and waste his time chasing those STUPID and INCREDIBLY STUPID creatures. Why didn't the professor just pick those people who were equally stupid and told them to get rid of their own smaller versions? That could be no problem for him as stupid people were in abundance everywhere and that included this class. Plus it more looked him like the professor was just using the students to de-gnome his garden. Meh.... As he picked his own gloves from his bag, the Slytherin boy eyed those gloves the professor offered people. Eh...with how pink and glittery they were, Gareth felt sorry for those who were going to use them. Well...no, he didn't feel sorry at all. Quote:
He was not going to let him flirt with the girl. That was not going to happen. No. Walking to the Gryffindor's back, Gareth first glanced back at the professor and when he thought it was safe to do so, he shoved the Gryffindor forwards from his back. "Get off. You are standing on my way." |
