| | Charms 2 Another cold day in the castle has come and you'll find that the Charms classroom is no exception. You can see your breath and you're probably shivering, but today's lesson will certainly (hopefully) help against that. Despite the frost and snow on the windows and the icicles hanging from various places, your professor is still in a somewhat good mood.
Professor Fuller is standing, leaning against his desk at the front of the classroom, bundled up in a coat and gloves, waiting for you all to arrive. So come on in and take a seat, so we can begin! Class has now started! If you are just arriving, just pretend your character has been here all along. Feel free to discuss! Class Progression:
1. Welcome to class. What have you been doing to keep warm?
2. Other ideas to keep warm?
3. Introducing the Insulation Charm. Practice!
4. Practical portion instructions.
5. Homework Assignment. |

People were starting to leave now, and Sophie was ready to do the same. She decided to try the charm one more time for good measure, and then she'd join those walking out the door and to the comfort of their common room. Sophie moved to stand in front of one the walls she hadn't cast on just yet. There was a small section that looked pretty much untouched, so she'd cast there. "Caelum Saepio!" she called out, pointing her wand toward the wall and making that sideways figure eight movement. She moved down the wall a bit and did the same a second time. "Caelum Saepio!" she said. Well, that was one charm she now had down pat. There were more people leaving now, so Sophie decided to wrap it up.
She put away her wand and copied down the homework. Ugh. More homework. She stuffed the parchment in her bag, slung her bag over her shoulder, then headed out the room.

| Post #1 ★ BabyQuad ★ PERRY THE PLATYPUS ★ Ern's Fave ★ dangerous with brooms ★ Kyroh was hibernating. It's what creatures DID when it was cold. Or something. Maybe he wasn't even hibernating. Maybe the first year was just sleeping. Mumbling Kyroh's hand hung off the desk his wand on the verge of falling out. As Grayson's rushed off, brushing his arm off the desk, and sending his wand clattering to the ground year woke up with a start.
Huh? What? Huuuuuuh? Cold?
Blinking Kyroh looked around. Right. Class. Why was almost empty?
......Even his side kick was gone..........
Still looking around at who was left Kyroh noticed that they still were practicing the spell so....he joined along with them? "Caelum Something...... Saepio!!! Yeah! Caelum Saepio! Caelum Saepio!" He waved his wand around a few times before remembering that, yeah, spells needed wand moves, and INFINITY! Quickly making the sideways eight he tried again. "Caelum Saepio!" Nothing.

So there was a way to tell whether the charm worked or not. After professor Fuller was done demonstrating, Beverly turned back toward the wall she was working on. There was a slight fog after she'd cast, but not enough like Fuller's. More practice was needed.
She eyed the window next to it. The charm also worked on it. She'd try it on it after she was done here.
"Caelum Saepio!" The infinity symbol was traced just in front of the wall, and Beverly waited for this famous fog to make an appearance. She'd made sure to focus on certain patch of the wall. If she tried charming it from ceiling to floor as she had first planned, it wouldn't work out. She herself. She knew the outcome.
Fog! There it was. Beverly fist bumped the air as a square of fog traced the area she had cast on. Yes!

Hogwarts RPG Name: Leah Abbott Fifth Year | Post 3 please don't let me be miunderstood
By now Leah was sure she would not master this spell in three tries. At least she would be able to go back to her common room and hope for her to success in her homework. But she had to at least give it a try. Leah aimed her wand at the area she was practicing on and repeated for the umpteenth time, "Caelum Saepio!" While she did a sideways figure eight.
Nope. Nopenopen- hey, was that FOG? The Hufflepuff's frown turned into a smile as she pocketed her wand, feeling warmer both in her heart and you know, physically. The tiny area she had been working on had been insulated. Sorta.
Now she could leave. Yay! Leah leaned against the wall for a few seconds, then walked over to her desk, humming softly as she packed her bag. The second year picked up her bag and hurried out of the classroom, but not before she could shout, "Great lesson, Professor, thanks. Bye!" with a wave.

So she was looking for a fog? Okay... well that definitely didn't happen to her on her first attempt so AJ thought that is was safe to say that she failed. Not that she needed fog to justify that. As a rule, spells don't ever work for her on the first try. People were done. They were actually already done. Most of the were older students, but that didn't help matters.
Focus. She needed to picture the fog, she needed to BE the fog. Eyes set on the wall, she really did try to imagine it doing what she needed it to do. The lion did want to be warm after all, but her mood. Her mood was going to wreck everything, and she didn't know how to shake it. This was so not her. Throwing caution to the wind she moved her wand in the figure eight motion. "Caelum Saepio!" Where was the fog? She got inches from the wall before it touched her nose and there wasn't a sign o any fog anywhere. Great, she was going to be the last person in this bloody room.

Tag found a new spot in the room to try and heat up but was momentarily distracted when he heard Fuller's voice and a short demo from him. Ok, Tag needed to see some fog for him to know he was using the spell properly.
Standing in his new spot Tag lifted his wand, once again, and repeated the incantation in his head before performing it. "Caelum Saepio." The blonde waited for that little fog to appear, as Fuller had said. But nothing had happened. Hmmm.
That was fine. Tag's magic had never been exceptional anyway. He'd just have to give it another try. "Caelum Saepio." he said with some more mindful thinking behind it. It took a few seconds but a very faint fog appeared from his wand and floated over a small portion of the place Tag had performed the spell on.

And then Fuller was asking them to get up to get down. Cutty found himself randomly wondering why Fuller wasn't more...persuasive...like Bellaire. He liked Charms and found them extremely useful, but it was dead center on his gradient of favourites to disliked classes at Hogwarts. He didn't think Fuller a bad teacher at all, either, but there were times where it wasn't challenging enough to him. Maybe this time would prove different though. Collective effort and all and Cutty knew he preferred to work alone.
The small snake, who seemed to not have grown an inch since last year found an unoccupied spot of wall and stood before it, wand in hand. Whipping the instrument of magic in an infinity symbol he uttered the charm's incantation. "Caelum Saepio."
He leaned his head forward and that's when he'd seen it. The small, wiff of fog that happens when the charm is casted properly. He wondered what would happen if they were all casting on a very large area of the castle. Would they just be engulfed at that point? The he-snake was considering ways in which such a distraction, such a puff of smoke slight of eye distraction might be useful for future winters and getting-away-withs.

| Post #2 ★ BabyQuad ★ PERRY THE PLATYPUS ★ Ern's Fave ★ dangerous with brooms ★ Maybe his spell hadn't worked because...well..he hadn't exactly pointed his wand at anything really. Kyroh shook his head, stood up and sleepily stumbled over to a wall close by. Placing his hand on the wall he could feel the cold air seeping through into the castle. He shivered and drew his wand.
Wall. Check. Wand. Check. Incantation Check. Wand movement. Check. Focus. "Caelum Saepio." He uttered again, his grip slightly too tight causing a rather stiff and exaggerated infinity sign.
Kyroh held his breath, just slightly. Waiting. Waiting.
Nothing. "Caelum Saepio!" He uttered trying again, but nope. No fog like some of the others were producing. There was nothing. "I want this charm to work please." He muttered to his wand. At this rate he'd be the last one to leave the room.

Now that Tag had finally successfully done a spell, and knowing he had actually done it correctly cause he'd seen the fog, it was time to look for a new place in the room to heat up. Or, hopefully heat up.
New spot chosen, then.
Caelum Saepio. Infinity sign wand movement. Small fog. That's all there was to it when it came with this spell. Tag let those small tasks formulate in his head for a couple of seconds before he nodded at himself and gave it a go.
"Caelum Saepio!" said Tag with some force and smoothly moving his wand in a swift movement of an infinity sign. Some fog started to emit from Tag's wand as he completed the motion of the sign, it hovered over the air for a while before it slowly dissipated away.
Well, Tag wasn't going to question that. He'd seen the fog, that'd been enough indication for him to know he'd performed the spell correctly. The first time.

All he had to do was make up something convincing enough to get everyone to cast at once. Anything could happen. He could fire off a hex, a jinx, administer potions, even switch items. Damn, Hogwarts was fun!
His mind alive and buzzing with the possibilities for mischief with this particular charm, he held up his wand and this time slightly enlarged the airborne figure eight that they were meant to do aiming to cover more area. One figure eight and two and three for the duration it took to speak the magic words, "Caelum Saepio!". Cutty's crazy little brain was all abuzz with practical joke uses for the charm as well.

Since the patch on the wall was charmed and ready to go, Beverly took two steps to the right and stood in front of the window. With a small fist she cleaned it and gazed outside. Sick. Not the oh-my-Merlin-that's-sick cool. It was the it's-so-sick-I-want-to-punch-something sick.
This sight was the reason she was glad to live in the dungeons. It was cold, but it spared her eyes from a sad sight. Shaking her head she aimed her wand at the window.
Another go.
"Caelum Saepio!" Tracing a wider in height infinity symbol with her wand, Beverly focused on the patch on the window she was intending to charm. It took several squiggly strokes for the spell to work. Soon fog formed from the glass. YES.
Pleased Beverly Wayne was pleased.
Seeing as that was done the Slytherin went back to her desk, jotted the homework down and stuffed her belongings into her bad. Time to go try this baby on her dorm walls and hopefully have a warm night.

| Post #3 be curious, not judgmental It seemed like half of the class was already gone, but Sophie didn't mind so much. Those who were done probably hadn't even done that efficient of a job and probably only covered a little bit of area. SOPHIE, on the other hand, was going to do a lot and stick around till every part of the room was taken care of. It was the least she could do for Fuller considering all the nice things he'd done for her. And she was not-so-subtly waiting around for Tobes. She was moseying along the wall in his direction, fully intending upon meeting up with him and staying by his side until they were set to depart.
On her way over, though, she continued to start near the floor to first cast, "Caelum Saepio," then moved up toward the middle of the wall and near the ceiling, still using the infinity-shaped wand movement as she cast again, "Caelum Saepio. Caelum Saepio." The light fog dissipated and she gave the section of the wall a nod of approval. Yes. Good. No cutting corners here - she was sure the whole length of the wall up and down was good and covered by the fog at least a little to ensure the best insulation.
And back to eyeing Tobes. Was he working on the ceiling? So cute.

It was going to happen this time, she just knew it. Her luck was going to change when it came to spells. There would be no more of this not working for her until the tenth time nonsense. She peeked around the room, and the amount of people still left was getting smaller and smaller. It was starting to become embarrassing.
She turned her attention back to her little space on the wall. "Caelum Saepio." Crap, she forgot the whole figure eight wand movement thing, and that was important. Looking at the wall she pictured the fog. Full concentration was happening here people. "Caelum Saepio!" was shouted WHILE making the figure eight movement with her wand.
The first year was just about to get upset, when she noticed that there was a dense looking fog area right where she shot the spell. "I did it." escaped from her lips followed up with a fist bump in the air. Success was hers, and that meant that she could be like the older cool kids and leave. She hurried back to her desk and gathered everything up nice and neatly aka she threw everything hurriedly in her bag. She grabbed her quill and with a scrap piece of paper she jotted down the homework info. Of course there would be homework. She crumbled the paper and stuck that into her bag too. "Bye professor, thanks for the lesson." |

It'd be so easy to just cast this charm on a sauna-hot room, whilst keeping yourself cool with potions or magical plants then drag your friends into it with you and proceed to pretend that they have lost their minds because afterall you'd all be sweating if it were truly that hot. For added effect, one could even opt to wear an ugly holiday jumper. Cutty had it all figured out.
The infinity symbol he proceeded to draw in the air with his wand grew slightly and he was able to draw more than four of them whilst he spoke the incantation again on a nearby and lower wallspace. "Caelum Saepio!"

She's been standing there for a while that she forgot what she intended to achieve by standing by this wall. Oh, right. She wanted to wait and see if there would be any sensed difference after she'd cast the spell. But she actually forgot how it felt before or couldn't tell. This seemed to be pointless, her standing that is.
The useful thing to do was continuing casting the spell around the room like others were doing.
And so she moved along to the one near the door. She assumed this one would need it most since cold air would seep through the door cracks. Or something. Anyway, wand was out. "Caelum Saepio," And number eight shape. That should do it.
