The need to dress warmly is much higher on the morning of the combined lesson. It seems Winter has come much earlier this year, as the air is chilly and thin and there's a bit of a biting breeze that occasionally rolls through. The ground is crunchy with frost and the occasional few snowflakes fall from the cloudy sky. When you approach the Black Lake, you will find that it has completely frozen over, with the help of some charms performed by your Charms Professor. You will also find that there are a couple dozen winged horses lined up on the side of lake, with small carriages beside them. Some of the students may notice behind the two professors is one Thestral. Though, some of the students may not notice it at all.
Fuller is standing beside Professor Thompson by the lake, all decked out in his winter clothes, hands in his pocket with a warm scarf folded tight around his neck. Feel free to greet your handsome professors. You may stand, or you may take a seat on one of the many padded, soft blankets, provided by Professor Thompson, that are laid out on the ground for you if you get too cold.

There they go talking about winged horses again... Where were they? But his thoughts went out the window when Lux made her way to him he gave her a confused smile as he listen to her give her answer. She was so smart Bay didn't know anything about b that spell so he was going to keep quite and listen to what everyone else was saying about it.

This one was Fuller. Fuller and Thompson. Okay.
And Grayson had hardly noticed the new professor who had decided to drop by. Why was she here? HMMMMM? Seemed a bit fishy, didn't it? And random, too. Uh huh. But anyways, there was something FAR more important here that he'd rather focus his attention on. So, looking away from the blonde haired woman, the fourteen year old looked over at the winged horses, instead. Brilliant. Freaking. BRILLIANT.
Placement Charm? They'd been taught about this sooooo, after a minute's thought, he raised his hand in the air, "Don't you have to tap the side of Thing A while it's being levitated so that it can be placed onto Thing B?" Was THAT right? "OR! Some people can just point at it and place Thing A on Thing B. Ultimate level of laziness right there."
And one last thing: "I've never used it before but it sounds like a dead useful spell." Pity that it probably didn't work on humans.

He rubbed his gloved hands together. ”Now, I hope you remembered to dress warmly. We will be out here for the next little while, so make sure you wrap up in a blanket if you get too cold. There’s plenty for everyone.” Thanks to Javy. Good thing he was thinking about the kids, eh?

Simon gave the Professor a kind smile in response as he sat down. It was rather chilly, but boy was Simon glad he brought his gloves, hat, and scarf.
As class began, Simon eagerly listened to Professor Fuller as he spoke about the Placement Charm. The charm temporarily placed an object on a desired target. He hadn't tried using this particular charm before. It seemed like it would be a good time saver. Instead of raising his hand, he remained silent and listened to the other students answer. He shrugged. He didn't have anything else that could be added.

Due to her earmuffs, it LOOKED like Schuyler may not have been able to hear well - or that at least Professor Fuller's words would be muffled - but, actually, she could hear perfectly well.
So, placement charms.
"Placement charms move an object somewhere without you having to touch the object," she answered. After hearing some other student say something about laziness, she added, "I wouldn't say lazy. Just more efficient." Okay, sometimes lazy. But that could be said for a lot of spells, no?
"I once used it to place a straw hat on a niffler." She and Ansel decided that it gave the the lil' guy some character.
The combined Charms and Care of Magical Creatures lessons were starting to become one of Toby's favourite things; he totally hoped there'd be loads more, because FULLER and THOMPSON. They were fantastic, see?
Placement charms? Right. Toby stuck his hand in the air, waggling his gloved fingers around even as he adjusted his scarf around his neck to protect his ears from the cold some more.
"It puts a thing in a certain place," he said, which was... basically what everyone had said but shhhhh. "It's only temporary, so it's not like a sticking charm or anything, and will probably wear off after a certain amount of time, depending on how strong the spell is when you cast it. I guess you have to be super focused for it to last longer." And..... well, that was all he could really think of, but it wouldn't hurt to say more. "It's different to placing things with Wingardium Leviosa, I suppose, because you would have to do a lot more work with aiming and placing, but with this one it's like... pre-programmed in your intent? Like, it's more specific."

Wrap up with a blanket? Bunch of MUGGLES. Whatever happened to using a charm for that kind of thing, Mr. Charms Professor? All these things were going through Sophie's mind as the lesson began. The Placement Charm. Well, the name of the charm kind of spoke for itself, didn't it?
Sophie thought for a minute then raised her hand. "It's a charm that places something somewhere," she said. That wasn't very clear, though, so she added, "For example, you can place a saddle on a horse with a Placement Charm, or you can do it by hand."

Oh Merlin! Had he just made a blunder when referring to the part of a horse's gear that could be used to subdue a Kelpie? Has he actually said harness? After hearing Lux mention the word bridle, he knew he had. Cris gave himself a mental slap on the head. Bridle dude. That's the one that goes over the head. The fairness are the straps you use to attach a horse to something a cart.
Oh well too late. He's just allow the Professors to correct his wrong use of words.
Concentrate Cris. Not only do you need to concentrate on what the Professors and the other students are saying, you also need to concentrate on the answers you are sharing with everyone.

Placement charm? Well Caleb had never USED it, but he knew what it was. He had no idea how they were going to use it for winged horses, though. He was curious to see how the two professors were going to connect the two...
He raised his hand. "I know that the placement charm basically moves things for you?" he said, unsure of how to really phrase his thoughts. "So you can move heavy things and stuff, but it allows you to move things ANYWHERE, not like Wingardium Leviosa which is basically just straight up into the air," he explained. Yeah, that made sense, right?

What sass from Professor Facial Hair. It was awesome. Maybe that was because she called him piersy. Really. Who in their right mind would like that nickname. Though it was humorous how Thompson just went along with it.
More cold, just great. They would be outside more in this too cold to be outside or long period weather. Maybe Nigel should have brought a hat along or something. His face was seriously cold. Or he could just as the hot air charm that would work. Yes it would.
Yeah not even going to answer that question. As if the name of the charm was not enough of a hint as to what it does. Really
And he was lazy, so of course he has used it before.

He'd arrived at class in the nick of time, near late but not quite tardy 'cause getting lost was happening. It had also taken Dima a really long time to find his winter clothes and stuff. Why were they having class OUTSIDE again? In December? Uncool, professors, uncool.
But the pretty horses made up for that.
The first year had sat with Kyroh and Maddie without saying anything ('cause his mouth was wrapped up in a scarf, obviously), but he WAVED to them. He also gave a halfhearted attempt to answer the first question as well, even though it didn't go very smoothly.
"Mmmfgmhd mmfgnff ngmmmfdhm!"
This scarf was an issue.

Brrrrr. Marigold shivered slightly, but then promptly forgot about the cold when Fuller started talking. ONE OF HER FAVORITE TEACHERS!!!!! Plus, charms. So interesting and stuff. She grinned for a while, then remembered she was supposed to answer. Whoops.
"A placement charm is for people who want to use their wands instead of manual labor and putting things places." Cos placing charm, yeah?

Kyroh looked EXCITED, did he KNOW? Maddie was excited TOO cause winged horses but they were doing the CHARMS bit first and she s'posed she could get excited about THAT too. Learning new things and all, YUP. OH and Dima's scarf was pretty much covering his face which made Maddie wonder if he could even SEE the winged horses properly. SHRUG. She could describe them to him and stuff if he COULDN'T see! Waaaaave. Hi Dima. HIIII. Winged horses! Charms! YUP!
Maddie didn't KNOW for sure what a placement charm WAS but she was PRETTY sure it placed something somewhere. YUP! Seemed like an excuse to be lazy to HER but whatever.
"Could you use it on PEOPLE, Professor, or JUST things?" Cause Maddie wouldn't mind PLACING her brothers out in the yard and locking them out for a bit so she could get some peace and quiet, UH-HUH!

Mo was completely enthralled by the flying horses, to the point where he really wasn't paying much attention to the professors. Certainly not close enough to realize that the professor was making fun of him a bit. Or maybe he realized it and didn't care. Being a seventh year was weird, man. It changed the way the world looked.
But he did hear the question, and Mo raised his hand thoughtfully after some of his classmates had answered. "Is it sort of like a meeting of Wingardium Leviosa and a Sticking Charm? Except that the object sort of slides into the place it is intended like a key in a lock rather than having to be directed there through trial and error?" That was a long 'is it sorta' question, and Mo turned a bit pink. And reached over to pull Dima's scarf all the way over the younger boy's face to cover his embarrassment.
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
Maybe wasn't an answer. Did the Professor know that?
Except, it actually was when you added it to the shrug like that leaving the Gryffindor with one more question. "Does Kirby know you borrowed one of his thestrals?" Important stuff right there. As Groundskeeper he was incharge of the forest and the things living in there even if they were creatures and Thompson might have had some excuse. Couldn't leave out the wall of muscle in planning. Come on people, he had feelings too.
Aaaaand they were on to the lesson and Mo was pulling scarves over Dima. Yup. Seemed legit. She casually reached over and tugged it all the way down, loosening it a bit (if not too much). HE WAS WELCOME and now she could concentrate on the question about the what? Placement charm?'
"It's a neat charm that puts things places so you don't have to. Brilliant for those days you can't be bothered with doing things, best done when used with a bunch of other spells that equally leave you having to exert little effort to get things done." But this wasn't from HER personal view, because half the time the Gryffindor wasn't lazy. Nope.

Placement charm. Couldn't Fuller see the answer to the question was right in the name of the charm? No. Well, maybe he just needed to do more reading or hear himself more clearly.
Pretty obvious what it was about and it seemed like everyone was practically giving the same answer, so Tag just stood back, silently watching the class and what not. What's the point of answering if it'd be the same as what everyone else had said? Pointless. That's right.

Demelza was freezing. So, naturally, she was wrapped up in all of her winter gear and in one of the blankets that had been provided. Why couldn't they be inside where it was nice and warm? It was not healthy for a future actress to be exposed to such conditions. If she got ill, this girl knew exactly who to blame. She would certainly be guilt-tripping the handsome professors in front to take care of her if she did end up getting a fever. Actually, that didn't sound like a bad idea at all. Hmm...
There were winged horses here? Oh, well, would you look at that. Since getting to the lake, she had been busy daydreaming rather than paying any attention to the horses. Just saying.
But the seventh year Gryffindor was focused when Professor Pretty Hair started the class. Already everyone was talking about what the Placement Charm did and all that. But Demelza raised her hand anyway. "Professor, the charm was used when I was at WADA to temporarily fix scripts after levitating them to a preferred height during table-reads. This was so we didn't have to hold the scripts out in front of us ourselves while reading through them out loud." But she didn't use the spell then. She held her scripts with her own two hands, thank you very much. Talk about dedication.

Reason: Grammar is important, yo.
"Nar. I'm not cold at all. Are yew?" Sass. That boy was sassy and he felt the need to share. Ugh! He looked out toward the professors, but occasionally, perhaps it looked as though he had spotted the Thestral. He had not.
HA! Of course he wouldn't admit to it. "Oh, no. Toasty as toast." She smirked, looking away and toward the Thestral. She shuddered, pinning it on the cold and wrapping the blanket tighter around herself.
Oh, look, the professors. THE professors.
And the lesson began, robbing all of Beverly's attention...

Another young man approached and Fuller gave him and. ”Nice to meet you, Simon.” He figured the kid was going to just mind his own business, as most teenagers did, but he actually chose to socialize. ”Rather well,” he replied with a look towards his friend. ”Cold.” You know. The usual.
Ice skate on winged horses? Ice skate ON winged horses, or ice skating USING winged horses? Good question. ”Ummm... No.” Sorry. Also, hi.
”Good morning,” he responded simply. He kind of wished he had a blanket over here now. Man.
And then came Nigel. ”Morning, Nigel.”
”Goooood morning.” That kid was cheerful.
Oh, look. It was the one whom he had crushed dreams of. Heh. ”Maybe,” he replied with a noncomittal shrug Wouldn’t SHE like to know. ”Good morning, MIss Cambridge.” Since she was being polite.
Piers watched the little man practically bouncing down the path to the lake. As he approached, Piers thought for a moment that he looked familiar. He squinted at the kid. ”Professor Fuller,” he told the kid. And THAT was when he recognized who the kid was. ”You’re that little booger that drew on my face when I was sleeping, AREN’T you?” He WAS. Him and that redhead! The Bunbury.
But he liked his hair, so, ”Thanks.”
”Good morning,” he greeted the Hufflepuff pleasantly. ”Doing quite well, thank you.”
She looked kind of grumpier than usual, but he wasn’t gonna mention anything. ”Morning,” he replied. Maybe she was just cold.
He got a nod. So Tag got a nod back.
Professor people? That was new. Fuller quirked an eyebrow. ”Good morning.” She was cheerful, too, wasn’t she?
”Good morning, Caleb,” he responded, trying his best not to find the students’ bouncing amusing.
Sophie was adorable. He had to admit, it was hard for him not to play favorites when it came to her and Toby. They had swam in his and Javy’s swimming pool, after all. ”M’lady,” he replied pleasantly with a small bow in her direction.
Another new face. The Charms Professor smiled at her. ”Pleasure to meet you, Miss Guidry.”
And there was the resident crazy. Oh boy.
.................................................. ........ ”Nice to see you, Kettleburn.”
Fuller nodded at the next Gryffindor that came through. ”Morning,” he greeted right back to him.
And then came a shivering mess who almost didn’t greet him. Pfft. WHY was he only wearing a light jacket? ”Morning. We did tell you to wear warm clothing.” It was on the notice board, but apparently he hadn’t read it.
”Hello, Lucy.” He smiled at the newcomer. ”Welcome.”
Another little firstie. He smiled at her as a greeting. Would they be riding the winged horses? The Charms professor glanced at them. ”I guess you’ll have to wait and see, huh?” It was a SURPRISE.
As he saw another figure walking down to the lake, he wondered who it was. She looked taller than the average seventh year..... Oh, Merlin. It was her. Was she crashing their lesson?! She looked like she hadn’t seen a frozen body of water in her life. ”Yes,” he replied dully.
Hah. Hahahaha. Did he mind her popping into THEIR lesson? The woman still called him Piersie. [/b]”Errrr....”[/b] Piers looked at Javy. He was gonna let him answer that question.
”Oh, it will be COOL, alright.” PUN INTENDED.
Toussaint got a nod. ”Morning.” Thank goodness he wasn’t deaf anymore.
Another cheerful one, good. ”Hello,” he responded, half as cheerful as her, but it was still plenty cheerful in Fuller’s eyes.
”Hello,” he responded to the newcomer. ”Welcome to class, Marisol.”
Fuller nodded at her. ”Good morning.”
Since she was grinning, he gave her a smile. ”Hello.”
”Morning, Mister Mordaunt,” he replied to the Slytherin on the blanket.
He nodded to the newcomer. ”Hello, Mister Bay.” Poor kid looked confused, though.
............................... Sourpuss, that kid was.
Hey, it was cupcake girl’s boyfriend. Right? Who, apparently, was great at stating the obvious. ”Excellent observation.” Hi.
”Fuller,” he said to the kid who obviously didn’t take his class regularly. ”Professor Fuller.” Nice to see you, too.
”Morning,” he said pleasantly to the girl as she sat down.
Fuller nodded at the seventh year as she neared the lake. ”Morning.”
Oh, crap.
Odessa.
Piers had NEARLY forgotten about the incident that had happened when West had, for some reason, been around, but seeing his face had brought it right back to the front of his brain. The Charms Professor gave the kid a stiff nod, even though he noticed that the Slytherin didn’t look at them. That was probably a good idea. Yeah. Good.
Nod. Dora got a nod back. Nod.
”Good morning,” he responded to the Ravenclaw simply.
He smiled politely back at her with a nod. ”Morning.”
Was she out of breath, shivering, or stuttering? He decided not to ask. ”Good morning,” he responded instead.
Was he shivering too? It was quite cold. ”Hello.” Stay warm, kid.
Fuller nodded at the newest Slytherin to join them. ”Morning.”
They DID tell them to dress warmly, so... shivering was their own fault. ”Morning,” he greeted pleasantly.
And there was the cupcake girl herself. Except he was kind of SAD that he hadn’t received any this year. Perhaps it was because Alice had graduated last year and Cat no longer had a partner in crime. Sad. ”Good morning, Caterina.” That smile of hers, made him suspicious, though.
”Hello,” he responded to the last student to arrive. Time to get started!
Once all the students had arrived, Fuller looked past them all to make sure no one else was coming. It was time to get the class rolling! Time to get their brains active so they wouldn’t freeze in their tiny teenage skulls.
”Welcome to class, everyone!” he said loudly, for all to hear. ”As you know, this will be a combined lesson with both Charms and Care of Magical creatures. Charms, taught by myself, Professor Fuller and Care of Magical Creature, taught by Professor Thompson.” He jabbed a thumb in the other man’s direction to point him out. Just in case they didn’t know who they were, since they seemed to have some newcomers and first years there.
Oh, yeah, Cassie was there, too. ”Professor Morgan,” he added, pointing to the blond Divination professor, ”is just visiting today, so be sure to stomp on her toes and stuff.” Haha. She asked for it.
”So, as you may have guessed, we’ll be talking a bit about winged horses, but we’ll leave that to Professor Thompson in a little bit. We’re going to start with the Charms portion first. So, to get started... What can you all tell me about the Placement Charm? What do you know about it? What does it do? How do you use it? If you have used it before, tell me what you’ve used it for?” Professor Fuller spread his arms, gesturing to the students. Discuss!
OOC: Class has now begun! If you’re just arriving, feel free to jump right in, but just pretend like you’ve been here all along!
OOC: Feel free to use any HP canon and SS canon information you find on the placement charm, as there is information on this spell in both places. Feel free to discuss!
Beverly let out the tiniest of disappointed sigh when Professor Fuller mentioned they weren't going to talk about winged horses just yet. Her life was divided in four different areas: Dad and brother (package deal), dragons, food and winged horses. So, of course she was excited to discuss all that was winged horses. Maybe even that Thestral, although it made her uncomfortable.
The Placement Charm? That was an easy one.
She raised her hand. "The Placement Charm does what the name says. It places an object wherever the caster desires without them having to touch the item or move from their spot." Simple, yeah? And...it could come in useful in the library. Yes, yes it could. Especially to those not blessed with inches and inches of height. Ahem.
Adelaide shivered a little at the cold. She grab another blanket that was close to her and wrapped it around herself. She didn't want to sit on the cold ground so that was the only option...now what was the question?
Placement charms. Right. Of course Addi knew all about those, but everyone else had already answered. No sense repeating what had already been said. Besides, that would require her taking her warm and toasty arms out from under the blanket.

Placement Charm. Penelope's first thought on them was that they were used to tame kelpies, like for that wandlore seminar a couple terms ago. She hadn't gotten to use it then since she wasn't allowed to go on the field trip, but she knew about it. That answer about kelpies had already been given anyway, so she was just gonna stay silent for now. Silent and trying to stay warm.

A placement charm was........irrelevant. As per usual the rest of his classmates had gotten to the definition before he could even say anything. Y'know, not that he would have 'cause he just didn't want to be subjected to talking. Ever. At least not in pseudo-pretty's class. PSEUDO BECAUSE HE WASN'T, yeah?
Anyway. He crossed his arms and finished out his thought. At least in his head people weren't throwing up inane answers to prove how smart they were.
A placement charm was basically a way to restrain things or objects or animals or people without having to touch them to do it.

Well, this guy knew a whole bunch. They harnessed kelpies at Durmstrang? Interesting factoid. ”Excellent, thank you for sharing. Yes, the placement charm can be used to place a bridle on kelpies.” But they weren’t gonna do that. FYI.

Placement Charm? That wasn't one she was very familiar with. Raising her hand, she offered something she knew about it. "I know that using a Placement Charm to put a bridle on a Kelpie makes it harmless." An answer covering both Charms and Care of Magical Creatures. Go her.
And this one had the same idea. Fuller nodded at her answer. ”That’s right, good job.”

Didn't he see? Was he in trouble now? Did that mean he didn't like him? The first year took a side step, slightly hiding behind Maddie. Just slightly. "And I didn't draw on your face. As for the question, Kyroh raised his hand this time. "I don't know anything about the placement charm sir, but I think it puts something in a place where it wasn't before." He paused and scratched his head. "Though I don't think I saw it in my textbook so I'm guessing someone should place the placement charm there." Come on Standard Book of Spells Grade 1 get your act together.
That kid was too literal. Obviously he wasn’t a REAL booger. OR WAS HE? And yada, yada, it was the other girl that drew on his face. Fuller waved his hand dismissively. ”Yeah, whatever, you’re off the hook.” THIS TIME.
As for his answer... He chuckled when Scaboir said they should place the Placement Charm in the textbook. ”It’s there, I promise. And you’re right, it does place an object somewhere else, good job.” First years, man.

”Yes, you are correct.” As for the muggle magician part..... well, he was just gonna... not say anything. That wasn’t real.

For lazy people, yes. ”It is quite handy when you’re feeling lazy. And you’re right, it’s used to stick an object in place.” Toussaint wasn’t so bad after all.

Oh, look, it was Unicorn girl. He nodded at her question/answer. ”That’s pretty close,” he replied. ”It moves things from one place to another and sticks it there.” So, good job because she got most of it!

Was THAT right? "OR! Some people can just point at it and place Thing A on Thing B. Ultimate level of laziness right there."
And one last thing: "I've never used it before but it sounds like a dead useful spell." Pity that it probably didn't work on humans.
Or did it?
”Actually,” he started, shifting most of his weight to one side, ”You don’t need to physically tap the object with your wand. You just need relatively good aim. So, the farther you are away from the objects, the more difficult it will be.”

"I once used it to place a straw hat on a niffler." She and Ansel decided that it gave the the lil' guy some character.
Just more efficient. ”Efficient,” he repeated with a nod. ”Good way to put it.” Though he did raise his eyebrow at the hat-wearing niffler. Every niffler needed a straw hat.

Look at Toby, being all smart. Again, not playing favorites, but Fuller was like, kind of proud of that kid. He was smart. ”You’re right on the dot, Mister Tempus.” Good boy. Oh, and he even went on. ”You’re absolutely correct. It’s similar to the levitation charm, but this charm was specifically created to take an object and stick it somewhere. Excellent answer.”

Fuller nodded at Miss Newell’s example. ”That’s a very good example, thank you.”

Yeah, that made sense, right?
”You are right in a sense, the levitation charm can be restricting at times. You do have a bit more freedom with the placement charm.” Nods for you, Newell. Other Newell.

Ermm....... He didn’t that. ”Right....” Was he even gonna try? Nope.

He wondered if this question would come up. He thought about how to answer it... ”Theoretically, yes. If your magic is strong enough.” That’s all he would say about that.

Well, Branxton made a very good point, one that he was going to point out if none of the students did. ”Yes, you’re absolutely right. It is quite similar to what would be a combination of the levitation charm and the sticking charm. Though, you’re right again by saying that it does sort of slide into place. You’ll see what I mean when we move on to the activity.” Which was was EXCITED about.

As Groundskeeper he was incharge of the forest and the things living in there even if they were creatures and Thompson might have had some excuse. Couldn't leave out the wall of muscle in planning.
Nope.
Uhhh... Did Kirby know? Piers glanced at Javy.
He was gonna let him answer that one too.
As for her answer, it seemed like she would like it when she was lazy, too. ”Very good, thank you.”

This was so we didn't have to hold the scripts out in front of us ourselves while reading through them out loud." But she didn't use the spell then. She held her scripts with her own two hands, thank you very much. Talk about dedication.
Oh, that was a new answer. Fuller nodded, impressed by her input. ”Another good use. Thanks for the input.” See, it could be used for ALL kinds of things.

Another nod for her. ”Very good. It places an object wherever you want.” Good, good. He was glad they were so familiar with it.
Once everyone who wanted to had spoken up about what they knew about the Placement Charm, Professor Fuller went on. ”Excellent answers, everyone. You were all right. The Placement charm simply moves an object from point A and secures it to point B, whatever that point is.” So, really, everyone who answered was right.
Except for the kid with the scarf over his face. He wasn’t so sure about that one.
”A few of you made excellent points, as well. While the Placement charm is similar to Windgardium Leviosa, they also have their differences. That levitation charm simply just levitates the object, while the placement charm can actually move the object to a different point and stick it there, just like you all said.” Props to them smart little studentsies.
”So todaaayy,” he started slowly, somewhat for a dramatic effect, ”we will also be learning about winged horses. If you haven’t made a guess already, you’ll see in a little while what the placement charm and those creatures have to do with each other.” He was going to let them use their imagination. ”For now, go ahead and give your undivided attention to Professor Thompson and he’ll teach you all you need to know about these creatures..”

Early on when the class had entered, Professor Thompson remained silent returning each and everyone's greetings. It was quite chilly out, as he every now and then rubbed his hands together. Other than that and the sharp look he gave Professor Fuller when he suggested the students could step on Professor Morgan, he was all good standing by the Thestral while Piers did his thing first... and now it was his show. "Thank you, Piersie.." Oops. looks like that nickname for him was contagious. Heh. Moving on..

Not exactly how Javy had planned to introduce the fact on the Thestral being there. But no matter, it was a nice opportunity to include them in, "Glad you asked, Miss Cambridge. Considering this particular Thestral isn't one of Mr. Kirby's, his knowledge on one being here isn't as necessary." Least this saved the time on finding out who could see them.
"Now then, to ease anyone's confusion there is in fact a Thestral right by me." Taking a fresh apple from his pocket, he then dropped it in front. The students who were able to see the Thestral knew what was coming. The majority of the rest.. got to see the apple appear to magically disappear chunk by chunk into nothingness. "The Thestrals here are considered gentle creatures despite their appearance and reputation as associating with omens and death, because only those who have seen another person's death and accepted the circumstance of it are only able to see them." Just for the basic facts. Using his wand, the thirty-three year old Professor gently tapped the board behind him with it, making the words start visually appearing onto it. Yep, notes were happening.

Piersie.
Iiiiinteresting. But anyway, Marigold was interested in more than just the nicknames of Professors, no matter how cool and funny they were. She wrote some notes out about sticking charms and how they differ from levitation, but was finished quickly enough that she put her quill down before Javy started talking. ...there were THESTRALS!? She couldn't see them. Nope. Not even after two deaths in her family in two years, she couldn't see that. Whether the horse was basically taunting her about the fact she wasn't there when her grandpa died or just a grim reminder, Marigold didn't appreciate it. Which is why she took the opportunity to change the subject.
"One breed is a Pegasus. They're used in Greek myths and stuff." So a bit of fiction.

So it was a Thestral. Aha, he had been correct... A lump formed in his throat when the memory of the car accident began flooding into his mind again. The sirens and flashing lights... No. He had to stop. He dismissed the thoughts away and refocused on the lesson at hand. Simon continued to gaze at the Thestral for a little while longer until he realized there were notes being written on the board. He quickly pulled out his notebook and began taking notes. They'd be useful later.
After listening to the Professor's question about other breeds of Winged Horses, he paused and let the information set in. Breeds of Winged Horses? Oh, he knew one of the answers. He had just read about this the other day. In his mind, he searched hungrily for the answer. When he found one of the breeds, he raised his hand. "Professor, the Aethonan is a breed of winged horse. There popular in Ireland and Great Britain," he explained.

Cris was glad that Professor Fuller hadn't pointed out his harness vs bridle mistake in front of the class. One point for Professor Fuller. Now for the question Professor Thompson raised.
"Professor another breed is the Abraxans. I believe they are the largest breed. They are most popularly known for pulling the Beauxbaton carriages. Their name is supposedly derived from Abraxas, one of the horses of Aurora.
Their hair color is white and the feathers are blue. Totally awesome color combination, I think."
