At least Mo had no life long dreams to crossbreed a new type of winged horse, although he found it a little disappointing that such efforts generally didn't go over well. He lost more time as he gazed back over in the direction of the winged horses, speculatively this time, and so Mo almost missed the exciting information that they'd be getting up close and personal with the horses soon. Just had to learn a little incantation first, and it was an easy one. Tucking his wand away, Mo silently mouthed the word. But why mouth it? He didn't have his wand out, and it was pretty simple... he didn't need to ease into the incantation. "Fixate. Fixate. Fix-ate." Bring on the complicated wand motion. |
It was a good thing Adelaide wasn't afraid of going back and reading her books because it was way too cold out here for her to try and take notes. Even with gloved hands. She nodded along, listening as Thompson talked. So pretty to look at. And then Professor Pretty talked. That took a bit more to focus on because well she'd had a bit of a school girl crush on him for two years now. But the charm was easy enough. Practice an incantation? She raised an eyebrow. That was too easy. "Fixate." There. She said it once and got it. Next please. |
Marisol rubbed her hands together, partly because she was mischievously excited, but mostly because she was freezing. A slow and painful death. Could she sue her professors for that? The first year noted the blonde teacher present. Professor Morgan, no? She seemed kind of ditzy, and Mari was less enthusiastic at the prospect of her upcoming Divination lesson. Other people asked questions which the teachers answered. Nothing interesting quite yet. But a charm, you say? This changed everything. Marisol's mother, Raquel Martínez de Cruz, was a famous Healer. Her daughter grudgingly understood how important a simple incantation could be to your life. Mari was actually okay(ish) at Charms. Better than Potions, anyway. The spell "fixate"? Marisol hadn't heard of it, but Professor Fuller claimed it was easy to pronounce. Well, possibly, if English was your native language. But in Spanish, the letter X wasn't all that common, and sometimes it was pronounced like an English H, as in México. Don't get Mari started on those crazy silent Es. "Fíjate," Mari tried. She knew it wasn't right, though the Spanish word probably shared the same root. "Feeksaty. Feeksayt? Feeksayt! Feeksayt!" Yeah, that sounded weird. And Marisol loved it! |

Bay asking to practice with her was a nice distraction. For the moment at least. "Of course I want to work with you." Who cared if it was a very simple spell to pronounce? She sure didn't. "Fixate. Fixate. Fixate..." There were only so many times she needed to say the spell, but maybe the wand movement would be more tricky. |
Fixate? That was just a normal word! How easy! Caleb was feeling very confident about his ability to do this spell now. The incantation was usually the part he had the hardest time getting - as long as the wand movement wasn't TOOOO difficult, he'd be good to go, he was sure of it. "Fixate. Fixxxxaaate. Fixate. FIXATE," he said, practicing saying...just a plain old English word a couple of times. |
They were going to ride the winged horses. He was sure of it. Like completely. THEY WERE GOING TO RIDE THE HORSES AND HE KNEW EXACTLY WHICH ONE HE WANTED TO RIDE. But for right now. Charms. Yes. Kyroh listened carefully not yet drawing his wand. Mostly because he felt bad that his wand didn't have any clothes to wear, and it would probably be cold as well. "Fixate." He repeated carefully. "Fixate! Fixate. Fixxxxxx-ate. Fixate." Easy enough! Not like transfiguration. Maybe Charms was easier? |
After taking a moment to copy down the notes on winged horses, Norah fumbled through her bag until she found her wand. Aha! Pulling it out triumphantly, she looked up to see the other students just saying the incantation? Wand movements coming later? Awww. The incantation seemed easy enough, so she busied herself pulling one of those blankets towards her as she muttered "Fixate....Fixate....Fixaaate." Merlin, it was cold! |
Oh, hey! The professor said he was RIGHT! Dima Toussaint had gotten a question righ- Why was there a scarf over his face? He wouldn't have been able to tell that it was Mo and Lex tugging at his clothes if not for the nearby voices, but Dima pulled it down HIMSELF to give them both LOOKS. Oi. He was cold over here. No catching colds for him, nuh-uh! Taking precautionary measures, he was. The first year readjusted his scarf and then tried his hand at practicing the incantation. "Fgmixafmte!" Had it. |
Eating another Bean (strawberry flavour this time) Kevin felt the bag move in his pocket. The Gryffindor looked down to see what was happening when the bag suddenly flew up and towards Professor Piersie. Realising he had been caught, he tried to reach for the bag in mid air but failed in grabbing it. A glare was being casted towards the man as he began to eat. "Stop eating MY candy!" he shouted. His hot-headed temper coming up because that was HIS food and the boy was protective of it. "You're gonna pay me back money if the bag is empty!" As the boy continued to GLARE the Professor, Kevin realised he wasn't eating anymore and was instead telling them about a charm called fixate. As long as he wasn't eating HIS candy Kevin okay with the bag being stolen from him. He would get it back after class somehow. "Fixate...fixate...fixate" he practised with a mumble. |
She quickly scribbled down the notes on the Winged Horses before putting her attention of Professor Fuller once more. Fixate. That was the charm they were going to be using to put their bridles on the Winged Horses- WAIT.. Were they going to be riding the horses? Josie felt her heart beginning to quicken at the mere thought of doing such a thing. Did the Professors see how tall the horses were? Especially those Abraxans, they were GINORMOUS! She gripped the blanket around herself as her eyes were averted back towards Professor Fuller. Right. Time to practice saying the charm. With a bit of a shaky voice, she softly spoke the charm. "F-Fixate.." She cleared her throat before trying it again, "F-F-Fixate....Fixate..." |
Taking notes on the types of winged horses and the incantation for the placement charm, Penelope could hardly feel her fingers. It was really cold here. The incantation was fixate? That wasn't too hard. Penelope repeated the incantation to herself a few times, "Fixate, fixate, fixate." That was the easy part. Would the wand movement be easy? |
SPOILER!!: Professors The fun part. Leah assumed that would be riding the flying horses, or the Thestrals. Imagine riding an invisible creature! A really Gryffindor thing to do. She was glad to know how the placement charm and winged horses were related. Fitting the bridle on. The incantation was EASY. Thinking about the super-long spell during Transfiguration, Leah grinned. "FIXate. Fixate. Fixate." Cool-cool. Now for the wand movement... hopefully it was not going to be really difficult. |
'There are some theories that suggest Threstals are in fact remnants of the persons that died in front of another witch or wizard...' .....W.h.a.t? That. Was. Creepy. After that sentence, Agatha liked Thestrals even less and another shiver went down her spine. Merlin... She read the stuff that was on the board and analysed each creature. Granians were agressive, an she didn't think that woudl suit a lady like her, so they were out. Abraxans were more beautiful, in her opinion, but if they required forceful handling... Agatha was in trouble. So nope, no Abraxans for her either. Thestrals, no need to think twice; no thanks. Aethonan, on the other hand, sounded perfect! Could Agatha have one? She had been wanting to go horse riding for a while, and winged horse riding sounded more amazing! If they weren't allowed to ride those ones in class, she was totally talking to her uncle soon. A Charm already? They hadn't even done anythign to the winged horses yet! Agatha frowned slightly, but paid attention to the instructions nonetheless. At least the professor was handsome. Fixate. She mouthed after he finished writing the incantation. "Fixate." Was that it? Huh. One of the easiest spells to pronounce so far. "Fixate. Fixate." She hoped she would find the wand movement easy as well, because if they got to ride the winged horse they managed to put the bridle on, Agatha wanted to do it asap. |
They have a whole set of visible Winged Horses nearby waiting for them? AWESOME! Were they allowed to pet them? Get to the fun part? Why can't they get to they fun part now? Professor Thompson said something about keeping a handle on the winged horses more easier. Was that mean they're going to RIDE them? She just need to practice this spell then the fun part. Fixate. Its a very easy to memorize not too mouthful like that spell they learned in Transfiguration. "Fixate.....Fixate.....Fix-ate..." Now, could they learn the wand movement, please? |
That's one easy incantation compared to the one they learned in Transfiguration no? The other one was a mouthful, but they pulled through. If that one worked then this one will be a whole lot easier. Fixate. "Fixate. Fix..ate. Fixate. FixateFixateFixate. Fix...ate. Fixate." With intent and a follow through, they'll be able to do the task in no time! |
Angel listened to the Professor and then smiled, she probably could do this spell the incantation didn't seem so hard. "Fix..." Angel wanted to get the first bit down first. "Fix!!" Angel beamed yeah that sounded right obviously, if she had got that bit wrong she probably should give up and do something else. "Ate!!" Angel beamed as she said the second part, the only problem was she was starting to feel a bit hungry now that she was saying that, she looked around and saw her sister was doing on. "Fixate!!" Angel smiled as she realised that she got it down, she really wanted to try it with a wand now, she just hoped that the professor would let her do it soon. |
Marigold nodded at the professors and stuff, but when there was a pause in talking mouthed a thanks to Toby. Yeah, he was cool. She copied down notes about the species of winged horse - who knew there were that many - then copied down the incantation of the sticking charm. They would be riding horses!! Exciting. But just as long as she didn't fall off, hence the sticking charm. "Fixate. Fixate. FIxaTE. Fixate." She usually had the incantations down… the wand movements were harder. |
Lucy had remained silent until now because she did not know anything about the topic of the lesson and had listened to the answers of her classmates. But now was the time to practice.. her favorite part .. Now it was her moment, it was time to use the incantation. "Fixate. Fixate. Fixate.'' Well done. That was simple! Lucy was excited! |
Text Cut: Kevinnn He was gonna PAY him if he ate all his candy? Har. "I'll consider it." But for now, he was going to eat a green apple one. Fuller took the green bean and popped it into his mouth..... Eugh. Gross. Spinach. Never mind. He tossed the bag back to the whining student. He could keep them. After that, he watched the students as they practiced the incantation, nodding as they all seemed to get it out just fine. Good. The rest should be fairly simple, then. Fuller gave them a few more moments to practice saying the incantation before collecting their attention again. "Alright everyone, attention back here please!" All eyes on him? Good. "We're going to move on to the practical portion of this lesson. Everyone please pick a partner and follow me and Professor Thompson to the horses." With a wave of his wand, Piers sent the chalkboard back to where he had gotten it from Javy's lesson area across the grounds. Once that was taken care of, he tugged on Javy's arm and started heading over to the other side of the frozen lake where the several winged horses were lined up with carriages behind them. "Follow us!" OOC: We'll give you a few hours to find a partner for the activity, then Joel will post the instructions and we can get started! This task will be easiest in PAIRS, but if you absolutely cannot find a partner, you may be able to find a pair to join. |
Jasmine and any young 'un if interested xD O_o it was time for the practical portion of the lesson. Cris could tell it in his freezing bones. Professor Fuller was moving from his spot and about to open his mouth. ....and there it was...those beautiful words. We're going to move on to the practical portion. Music to his ears. Partner? Cris glanced over Jasmine. Would she prefer a different partner to work with or would she agree to working with him. Cris decided to try his luck. He walked over to her and asked,"Can I partner up with you for this practical?" ....please say yes. |
Kat/ Benny ^_^ Finally, the best part of the lesson! And they needed a partner. Greeeeeat. Who to ask? Adi caught sight of Benny. He wondered if his friend was still mad at him about the whole Babbling Beverage thing. Well, there was only one way to find out. Adi headed over to the Gryffindor and poked him. "Hey, Dragon. Still mad at me? Want to be partners?'' He grinned innocently. Benny couldn't be annoyed at him forever, right? RIGHT? |
Angel looked around, she wondered if her sister wanted to partner with her. She hoped that they could but well she would have to ask her. "Aubrey want to partner me?" Angel hoped so because it would be the first time they had actually partnered in class official, normally she was with the sister-stealer. |
partner? :3 Wait, he was concidering paying him? The Gryffindor grinned at this. Was he really going to make money out of this? If so, now the boy was HOPING the Professor would eat the whole bag of Flavoured Beans. But when he threw it back at him , Kevin sighed. Oh well, maybe next time... Kevin pocketed the bag of beans in his robe but before he did so he quickly ate 5 beans at a time. He didn't know which beans he had gotten but...it was ..... The second year made a face of disgust. Partners? MWEEEEH did he HAVE to? He didn't like working with others. But because he had the feeling they were going to fly on the winged horses made him want to find a partner. Who though? It wasn't like he had any friends... "IF ANYONE WANTS TO BE MY PARTNER I'LL GIVE YOU SOME BERTIE BOTT BEANS" he LIED. Mwuhahaha |
Bit of catch up andddd partner anyone? Praccccticing. Maddie didn't think the incantation was TOO hard but she DID put all her effort into saying it exactly like the Professor dude had so she'd be able to use it NO PROBLEM when the practical portion started. What good was being able to SAY the word if you couldn't use it to make something happen, RIGHT? RIGHT. "Fixate...Fixate...Fixate!" YUP, that was it. "Fixate. Fixateeeee. Fixate!" Good? It WAS good, right? Sounded good to HER. Brrrrrrr. And she was SUPER cold right now, did the Professors KNOW? The small brunette shivered a little and considered grabbing a blanket when one of the Professors-The Charms dude-spoke up again. Time to partner up? SIGH. She wasn't SUPER eager to work with anyone right now but she'd DEAL cause she was a good sport like that. Too bad no powerful people were immediately in site. It'd be beneficial to work with one of the Head people but that didn't seem like a thing. OH well. The twelve year old slowly made her way towards the winged horses and as she did, she looked around at her options. "Anyone want to be my partner?" Anyone BUT that Gryffindor whiner from potions. She didn't want to partner with HIM. |
Partners with Josie? "Fixate....Fixate..." Josette looked at Professor Fuller as he was moving on with the lesson. Apparently they were moving over to the other side of the lake by the winged horses. And he was asking everyone to partner up. Her blue eyes scanned around at the other students. Did anyone want to partner up maybe? If they didn't, perhaps Professor Fuller might help her out with that? Right? |
