Professor Thompson took over his portion of the class. When he asked a question about winged horses, Jasmine had an answer ready and raaised her hand. "The Granian is a breed of winged horse. It is gray in color and known for being very fast." |
Kace was learning interesting thing. Well he now knew the charm Professor Fuller was talking about. He was dazing out again but now he was focused! He heard Professor Thompson's explanation of winged horses. He nodded and knew Thestrals were one of them. Granted he never seen one before. But he knew one of them. He raised his hand and said, "Professor I know one, it is called the Granian. It is very fast and their color is grey." Who knew he would know something about winged horses. He was gonna take Pegasus but Mairgold took it and he had to think of something else. |
So mostly everyone was right. See why talk when everyone just repeats said correct answer. Too much effort that was. What.....Did he? Yes Thompson just called Fuller Piersie. It was hilarious. Nigel grinned while listening to Thompson's info about Thestrals. So that is what it was. Interesting. Can't see it . But Nigel will take his word for it. The Seventh Year knew of three types of winged horses other than Threstals. Abraxan, Aethonan, and Granian. No doubt all were just spoken of. Though Winged Horse Races were fun to bet on. |
Wait, there was a Thestral? O_O Since she hadn't seen anyone die (thank goodness), this was news to Lux. But yes... There was an apple disappearing in thin air right before her eyes. Huh. Interesting. Transfixed on the spot where the Thestral was supposed to be, she listened as Professor Thompson started talking about winged horses. Okay, so what were some of the other breeds? Raising her hand, she said, "Aethonan is one. They are chestnut in colour." |
SPOILER!!: Professors Piersie. Leah snorted with laughter but tried to cover it up with a cough. Nice, Professor Divination. Anyway, were they going to move winged horses? That would be... cruel. They can fly, after all. The second year turned her attention to Professor Thompson. DUN DUN DUN Thestrals! Leah glanced at Lioness Prefect. She could see Thestrals? Leah had learned about Thestrals before but had never seen one. She hoped she would never see one though. She watched with interest as an apple started to disappear in front of her eyes. The second year raised her hand confidently and said, "I know about the Abraxan, professor. They are huge and powerful." Kinda rewording what Cris had said. |
Agatha didn't really know what the Placement Charm was, ALTHOUGH he did know what it was once other people started mentioning what it was. Oh. She should start learning the proper names for the spells soon. Creatures talk now, which Agatha liked a bit more. It was easier to deal with animals rather than spells, in her opinion. Not that she would tell anyone that. Wait, HUH? Thestrals? What did her uncle have to do with them?? The girl had no idea her uncle had thestrals, to start with. She would have to ask him about that asap. All of the winged horses she knew had been mentioned already and, to be fair, Agatha didn't know much about any of them to give any extra information, so she had to keep quiet once again. But Merlin, it was really freaky to see that apple disappearing next to professor Thompson. The sight sent shivers down Agatha spine and she fixed her scarf around her neck. |
Zander felt a surge of pride as he realized he was the first to have answered the previous question. HA! He actually did know something after all. He then watched as the torch was passed from one Professor to another. This was going to get real confusing, real fast. Thestral? So Professor Thompson over here was proposing that tehre was some kind of creature by him, yet Zander didn't see anything. Uh? Is seeing, believing because Zander totally isn't SEEING. Professor, this Thestral thingy must be defective. Hmph. Yes. That must be it.... Oh wait. The next statement definitely cleared things up. Only those who have seein another person's death and accepted the circumstances. Oh. That makes sense. Because none of the above for Zander. So no Thestral. Or, erm, yes Thestral, but no seeing Thestral. Ahem. GROOOOOAAAN. Notes? They were outside for Merlin's sake. Winged horses? Uhuuummm..... "I've seen drawings of winged unicorns before?" Did that count? Because that's all he's got. |
DIMA! Kyroh waved at his roommate, and giggled at his answer. Yup. Yup that sounded right to him, all placement charmy. Looking toward the horses the Ravenclaw was trying to pay attention. He really was. But it was cold outside you know. Burrrrr. But LOOK he was let off the hook and he was right. Which was COOL and all but....horses. Watching as Professor Thompson dropped the apple Kyroh's eyes grew. An invisible winged horse? No- a Thestral? Invisible? It was eating the apple and he couldn't even SEE it. MORE BLINKING WAS FOLLOWED."Professor! How come it's only another person's death. Like how come I can't see the Thestral if I saw like a bug die?" HM? Was he saying that only people were the only important living creatures? KYROH WANTED TO SEE THE HORSE. Oh. "And do Hippogriffs count?" They were sorta horse like right? You could ride them and stuff. |
Penelope knew lots about winged horses thanks to Atticus, but soon the others had covered just about everything, even adding in some different ones. So she considered just continuing to stay quiet - the sooner they moved on, the sooner they'd probably be moving anyway so why delay things too long with answers she didn't have to give? - but then she looked back at the thestral again and thought of something to ask. She raised her hand. "Professor, d'you know why thestrals can only be seen by some people? Is it some sort of spell or magic that was cast on them once and then all of them got it? Did they eat a bunch of invisibility cloaks?" This Gryffindor was curious. |
Placement Charm? Yeah. She didn't know what that was and what's that for so she just sat there and listened what everyone said. Moves an object from point A and secures it to point B, whatever that point is. Ohhh. That's pretty awesome charm. They were going to learn about winged horses? Cool. Give her undivided attention to Professor Thompson? That she could do, Professor. Candice turned her attention to the Care of Magical Creatures Professor aka Professor Handsome Face Number #2. And did Professor Thompson just called Professor Handsome Face Number #1 Piersie? The first year let out a small giggled. That's just really adorable nickname. Back to the lesson. Thestrals? There's a Thestrals? She wanted to see it but unlike her brothers she never saw anyone die with her own eyes (Thank Merlin for that!) Other Winged Horses? The only winged horses she knew was Pegasus but someone already mentioned that, she didn't see the point to repeat the same answers so she just gonna sit this one out again. |
Mo watched the apple disappear into thin air with curious awe. It was obvious the professor could see the thestral, and that Lex could... but who else could? His eyes withdrew from the empty spot where he assumed the thestral stood to see if anyone seemed to have an 'oh, amazing, a thestral!' expression on their face. Whatever that looked like. Or maybe that expression looked just like 'oh, amazing, an apple disappearing into thin air' face, in which case he gained nothing. With a small sigh, Mo turned his attention back to the empty spot. Wait... was it right there, or was it a few feet to the left? What empty spot was he meant to be watching? Eh... did he have anything to contribute, now that he'd lost the thestral? He raised his hand. "Professor, can you breed the different winged horses? Like are there cross breeds?" |
Was Tobias Tempus puffing his chest out all proudly and stuff? Maybe. It was a definite possibility. He grinned when Fuller seemed to like his answer, like full on BEAMING (those hours and hours of attempted extra study were starting to pay off), before looking to Thompson for the next part. Uhhhh... winged horses. Well, there were LOADS but... the one answer that Toby caught himself latching onto was the one which wasn't even in the textbook at all, and he quickly shot up his hand as soon as possible after Mari's answer. "I don't think Pegasus is actually a breed, it was just the name of that one famous horse," he pointed out, but smiled at Mari anyway because... y'know... Toby liked to share smiles. Then he looked at Thompson again. "Maybe there were loads more back then too, and they were other breeds of winged horses, like Abraxans or something." It certainly was interesting to think about, and ever since Airey did that one lesson about Icarus actually being about wizards and magic, Toby was eager to look for more possible magic solutions to historical stuff. But that was a bit off topic. As for right now? Yeah, no more answers. Toby just stood there, beaming and bouncing on his toes and absolutely buzzing with energy as though he was likely to take off at any moment. |
Norah felt her eyebrows disappear under her fringe of wild hair as the apple disappeared into THIN AIR. WHAAAT? Wait. A thestral is an invisible horse? She rubbed the numbness ( or tried to, anyway) from her hands because this seemed pretty worthy of note taking. Woah, these thestral things seemed scary. It was a bit too much death and gore for Norah to think about without getting sad, and she didn't like to be sad, so she focused instead on an answer to the question. Raising her hand as high as she could considering all the layers she was wearing, Norah decided to voice her guess, though it was very tentative. "Er, a hippo?" Wait no that was wrong. Then what was it? "Sorry, I mean a hippo...griff," she continued. Yeah! That was it! "They're not entirely horses, but they have wings and stuff..." she trailed off. Eh. It was worth a shot. |
Standing near Lux both Professor's started to talk about what they were going to be learning about… and then the apple fell and started to go away into nothingness… He felt like his head was going to explode. OHHH OKAY so these things were called Thestrals. Looking around he spotted that some kids could see them… and he found out why.. you needed to see death to see them.. gulp… he instantly felt bad for all of these students.. Shakely he raised his hand and said "Professor's what about the Pegasus.. there like from the greek times…" or so he hoped… he wondered if the professor's have like a drawing of these creatures so he could see what they looked like. |
Piersie. Heh. Hehehe. Nice nickname. Heh. Beverly pursed her lips to keep a cool face and tugged the blanket up to her chin. She didn't hear anything, okay. Gaze flickering between Professor Thompson to the Thestral and back, Beverly raised a trembling hand. It was cold, okay. "There's four known breeds of Winged Horses." Her gaze flicked toward the Thestral once more. "Abraxan, Aethonan, Granian and...Thestral." Get a grip of yourself, Wayne! "The Abraxan in the largest of them and my favorite and--aren't Thestrals unlucky?" She was curious. It was also the main reason she was eyeing it. Among other reasons. |
Piersie? Okay. That name shall stick then. Professor Piersie. Mhm. Ethan watched as Professor Thompson procured an apple from his pocket and tossed it to his side. Why is he wasting food? Oh. Oooh. There’s actually a Thestral beside him! Ethan wasted no time and got his notebook and muggle pencil and started to scribble down some notes. Information’s good, yeah? Yes. The Slytherin looked from one student to another as they contributed their answers. Well, all the breeds of the winged horses he knew were already mentioned. He did turn to Kyroh though when the little Claw mentioned if Hippogriffs count. Hmm. If it did, does that mean that Gryffins count too? |
Angel raised her hand. "Professor there's the Granian which is really fast and grey and must be very good for racing in one of those horse races they do." Angel beamed, she wondered how that worked because if it was a general race surely it would put the others at a disadvantage and Angel thought that would be so uncool. |
The class had begun & Josie's undivided attention was on both of the very knowledgeable Professors. Seeing as to how the lesson was going to be about the placement of certain things, along with some of the most majestic creatures she'd read about in her young life, she knew that it was going to be one she'd favour. Josette listened as the questions had been asked, whilst answers were being given left & right. But it was when Professor Thompson had brought attention to the mention of a winged horse she couldn't see, her curiosity had been sparked longing to see what it looked like. Although, the apple he'd dropped disappeared into nothing! Sadly for her though, she'd never witnessed death before, otherwise she would have been able to see this creature. Josette then heard Professor Thompson ask what other kinds of winged horses there were & immediately the Granian had popped in her brain from her readings. And there was another that soon came to mind, which caused her to raise her hand, "Professor, I-I do remember r-reading about a winged horse that's commonly known to be from G-Great Britain & I-Ireland.." She tucked her hand back into the warm blanket. "I-I believe they're called... A-Aethonans? And they a-are known to b-be the colour of a c-chestnut.." |
There was a thestral there? Penelope couldn't see it, but that was probably a good thing. The closest thing to a person dying that she had ever seen was when her dog killed a bird. Winged horses. What did she know about winged horses? Not much, but Penelope remembered at least one breed of winged horse. "Professor, one breed of winged horse is the A- Ae- Aeth- Aetheio- Aethon- Aethonan. Aethonan." She could kind of pronounce it. At least she had been able to say it, even if it did take her a few tries to get it right. Penelope had a lot of questions about thestrals, but most of them had already been asked. "Can you use a placement charm to put a bridle on a thestral? Are placement charms used to attach the thestrals to the carriages that bring the students to the school?" |
Michael didn't see the point in naming a breed of winged horse when his fellow classmates had just named them all before him. And he really didn't feel like repeating the same thing. So instead he gave Zahra a small poke in the back. "You can have the biggest winged horse but I call dibs on the fastest. Which is the Granian." And she could look all pretty on the big Abraxan. "Although how cool would it be to ride a Thestral?" |
Okay. So Hayley had somehow managed to nod off, but a particularly violent nod sent her eyes open just in time to watch as the apple disappeared into thin air. She rubbed her eyes, just in case she was still dreaming but apple. There was one earlier. Now it's gone. And what on earth was a Thestral? Apparently, it was a breed of winged horses. "Well, I can't see it, but I think that thing behind you that just ate the apple has wings. The thestral." she squinted. "What does a thestral even look like?" |
So you COULD move people using the charm. Maddie smiled thoughtfully as Professor Charms Man confirmed, thinking of ways she could use this, y'know, when her magic was POWERFUL enough. Which it WOULD be someday, MHM! Then the class was asked to talk about winged horse breeds but MADDIE's eyes were focused on the spot where the Thestral was meant to be. She couldn't SEE it and that was terribly annoying to the first year. NOT that she wanted to see someone die but STILL. Sort of a tease to bring something to class that not everyone could observe properly. She also wondered about the ones who COULD see it. Questions had formed in her mind but she knew she had no right to ask them so she simply watched on quietly, a thoughtful expression on her face. HM. |
Whoo, she took a stab in the dark and actually got a pretty decent answer out of it. Sure her answer wasn't completely right, but she would take it. Her attention turned to the man in charge of the creatures. A threstral? Not only did the first year have no idea what he was talking about, she didn't see anything other than the winged horses in front of her. Maybe the professors were in to tricking the first years too, and they got all of the older students in on it as well. Before her very eyes she watched an apple disappear. "Wicked!" She immediately thought about what her sister said about a muggle magician... maybe that was what they were doing right now. Another breed? Who was she going to know that when she didn't even know that winged horses existed five minutes ago? The lion raised her hand. "What about a horse?" Yup, just a plain ol' everyday horse. |
Well of course Piersie charmed the lake. He was brilliant at charms. Oblivious to his looks she beamed at them both. "This is soooo exciting." She gave them both snaps. Moving towards the Thestral she gave Javy another excited smile as she pat the creature. Visiting them at the stables made her very familiar. Watching all the students come in made the blonde super excited for her own lessons. How fun was this going to be! Her green eyes turned and her little laugh grew as Piersie joked about her height. She knew most of the students were taller than her, but her heels helped a bit. Stepping on her feet though, oh he was such the kidder. She just loved his sense of humor with her. Staying quiet as the lesson started she was amazed at all the student answers. They were brilliant and so well behaved. This was just getting more and more exciting and they all got encouraging happy snaps. Turning her eyes onto Javy as he started she watched the Thestral eat the apple. So amazing they were. It was just so sad that everyone couldn't see them. "They are such a-mazing creatures." She could add that couldn't she? Giving the class a super excited grin she pet the creature happily. |
Piersie? The Gryffindor raised an eyebrow when their Care of Magical Creatures Professor called the Charm's Professor that. He looked between the two of them and laughed. Piersie! BWAHAHAHA. The second year suddenly stopped laughing when an apple was thrown on the ground and DISSAPEARED in to thin air. Wait, a Thestral? Kevin had heard about those creatures. His mother had told him about them. Magical place or not, anyone who couldn't see the Thestrals and only saw an apple dissapear chunk by chunk would be weirded out. He watched the board behind the Professor and read the writing that had appeared. Mweh they had to take notes? Yeah..no. He had a good memory Another breed of winged horse? Kevin thought for a moment but no answer came up to him. So instead of answering, the boy put his hand in his robe pocket took out a Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Bean and sneakily ate it. ....Sardine....eeeuugh... |
