Caring for Creatures Playmates Meeting!

http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6b35dc67.png
First Official Meeting

As you make your way into the library, your first thoughts are on whether you had arrived late or not after seeing the Book Club meeting taking place not too far away from the entrance right by the stained glass windows. Just a few shelves away though, you see Professor Thompson right in the middle of another clear place with the familiar looking padded self-heating charmed blankets laid out for you to sit on. It was always cool in the library after all.

ooc: Hey there, just have your character take a seat and relax until the meeting starts within the next 16 hours from this post. Feel free to chat among yourselves, but not too loud as there is another meeting going on nearby. ;)

Daydreamer11 06-22-2014 07:07 PM

Jasmine arrived at the Library for the Caring for Creatures meeting and was momentarily thrown off. Seeing a rather large group of students already assembled, she checked her watch. Then she realized that the Book Club was also meeting in the Library. She breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Professor Thompson sitting not too far away. She wasn't late after all.

"Hello Professor", Jasmine said as she reached the proper area for her meeting. Realizing that she was the first student to arrive, she had her choice of blankets to sit on. Sitting down, Jasmine was happy to feel the toasty warmth coming from the blanket. Hopefully her classmates would arrive soon. For now, she would just enjoy being warm for a change.

SlytherinSistah 06-22-2014 07:36 PM

There he was. A thirteen year old boy torn between information and information, his only two loves, but money. Hehehe. Butt money. Hehehe, anyway! Cutty Mordaunt made a decision. He would visit Mr. Kitridge later on and have a private talk with him about the books he had been reading. He hadn't seen Mr. Kitridge for some time, anyway and they were about due for a visit. All part of Cutty's long term plan to coerce the Librarian at a slow and even pace in order that he may win privilege to the restricted section without having to procure a Professor's note. Cutty thought he could've gotten one of those easily enough, but he preferred to do it through the Librarian. More opportunities.

Cutty took one step onto the clear space and felt the warmth radiating off of the blankets. He sat on one and took another and nuzzled into it like a cold bird. "Hello, Professor Thompson." He was getting better at acknowledging his teachers.

Holmesian Feline 06-22-2014 07:37 PM

Hmm...books and COMC.

Both groups had been posted and both mentioned the same time and location. And both interested Benny. However anything COMC was something that got his full attention. Him and Adi that was, both besties sharing the subject as a favorite. So the third year headed past the one local and towards the other once he spotted a certain professor waiting at the second with two lone students.

Surely more would arrive, he mused to himself, the boy already surprised he had beaten Adi there. "Hello Professor," he greeted as he moved to take a seat on the heated blanket.

MuggleDinosaur 06-22-2014 07:37 PM

Emmylou walked through the library, she saw a good number of students already in there. Was she late? Emmylou wouldn't stand for being late. She hated to be late but the she walked past the group and noticed it was something totally different. It looked like a book club. The third year sigh in relief, that made her just feel so much better to know that she wasn't late. Emmylou wondered what they were going to do in this. She remembered signing up but she didn't know what everything was going to be about for this.

The blonde lioness knew that it was going to be about the magical creatures and the playmates and such but she didn't know if she had to bring anything. She didn't think that it said she had to bring anything. "Hello Professor." Emmylou smiled and waved as she noticed that there was only her and a few other students. Emmylou waved to the other students and whispered a "Hello." to them.

Anna Banana 06-22-2014 07:38 PM

Caring for Magical Creatures--meh, whatever. Sophie was just here, because she thought this might her IN for fighting that Nundu she'd been wanting to fight since she was five-years-old. Okay, so that was a little bit of a lie. She did care about magical creatures. She just cared more about fighting a Nundu.

She glanced over and noted the Book Club nearby. The Book Club was just not for her. She enjoyed reading here and there, but a club? Nope. "Hi, Professor," she said, quietly and all, because...well, the library.

Mentions of Jasmine

Cris made his way down to the library. Not to borrow a book this time, but to attend a meeting that the Care of Magical Creatures Professor was conducting there. Wait! was he in the wrong place. Cris could see Mr. Kitrege conducting a book club meeting over in another part of the library. But no, there was Professor Thompson...and Cris' face broke into a great big smile. Jasmine was also here!!

Cris gave her a great big smile, before walking over to greet Professor Thompson. "Hello Professor Thompson. I hope you're doing well. You chose a great place to have a meeting," Cris smiled in greeting before turning to join Jasmine on the blanket.

"Hello beautiful, fancy meeting you here," Cris whispered to Jasmine , giving her another special smile.

TakemetotheBurrow 06-22-2014 08:02 PM

Maddie's decision on which club meeting to attend had been easy. She simply eyed both groups and noted that there were blankets at the Creatures meeting. Blankets meant warmth and warmth was something Maddie was interested in even more than books so Thompson's meeting it was. And no, she had NO idea what those pots did when she passed the book meeting. No hard feelings, Kitridge.

"Hello." She was here and stuff, yay. The small brunette smiled faintly at those already in attendance and then wandered over to an unoccupied blanket, opting to wrap herself up in it rather than use it as a place to sit. Cozier that way, yeah?

hermionesclone 06-22-2014 08:04 PM

............................. Was he late?

Er.

Grayson glanced down at his watch. It wasn't late according to him. Then why in the name of merlin was there a BOOK meeting going on as well? And what were they even discussing over there? How to take over the world with a book? He doubted it would happen but he WAS planning on listening in to what they were saying over there. Unless, of course, this meeting was cancelled. In THAT case, Grayson was going to turn around and head STRAIGHT back to the common room because being in the library was NOT his idea of fun. Not at--

OH! Thompson!

Maybe he WOULD have to stay in this weird place, then.

Tucking his hands into his pockets, the fourteen year old made his way over towards the Care of Magical Creatures professor. "Hey, Professor!" he said, giving the guy a nod and sitting down on a blanket right...........

........... near.........

.................. Cutty Mordaunt.

"'Sup, Mordaunt." Cool and casual was the way to go.

Jasmine was enjoying her seat on the warm blanket while watching the other students arrive. She began to smile when she saw Cris coming her way. "Hi there", Jasmine said to her boyfriend. "I'm glad to see you. I didnt know if you would be coming to his meeting."

Looking over at the Book Club group, Jasmine suddenly turned serious. "I just couldn't go to the Book Club meeting because of.......you know.......reasons. It's still too fresh. But on a brighter note, I'm looking forward to this meeting."

Cassirin 06-22-2014 09:04 PM

Book Club or a creatures club? As if there was any doubt which one Mo would choose. He had plenty of time to read books, and usually he wanted to hit other members of a book club with that month's selection... it didn't really interest him at all. Creatures, however, those interested him immensely.

And if 'playmates' meant they got to play with creatures, then... this was where he wanted to be. For sure.

"Hey, Professor. Interesting meeting location." Made it seem less likely they were looking at anything other than bookworms.

ArianaBlack 06-22-2014 09:31 PM

So book club? Or Playmates? Decisions. Sneaky Professors making students choose. Sneaky sneaky. Well this lion knew right away which he'd go to. Although he did like Kitridge, the man had offered to help him with career paths! But, he did take a liking to all that magical creatures nonsense. So better stick with the gut right?

Wow. This was actually kind of rough. As the third year walked by the other meeting he felt a twinge of guilt. Man, was that potion still having it's effect on him!? Because woah. Guilt. Just then Zander spotted Professor Thompson standing in the middle of the room, "Hi Professor," Would he mention the book club? Naaaah.

Deezerz 06-22-2014 10:29 PM

She was TORN.

How could they do this to her?! Book club concerning her MOST favorite book in the world and a meeting for caring for magical creatures. It was INHUMANE making her choose. It was like asking her: What would you rather live without water or air?

Okay, okay, that was a biiiiit over the top, but it HAD been a tough choice. The youngest Wayne stood by the tables switching her gaze between both groups until her feet took her toward where she most desired to go.

Picking a spot and flopping down, Beverly jerked the blanket from the spot next to her and wrapped it around her. One for sitting on and the other for warmth.

And suddenly, the room was lit brightly as if it was storming outside . . . but a closer inspection from the windows would reveal it was a wand shooting sparks. Before dying out, the sparks also illuminated a shadow of a human fleeing inside . . . who would go out while it was too cold to breathe outside?

OH, MY MERLIN, they were going to die!

What was that? Seriously--WHAT. WAS. THAT. Sophie had stalked away from Grayson and Cutty, both of whom she'd thought about sitting by, but suddenly she found herself sneaking back over there.

Scared? No, not her. HECK, yes!

"Professor?" she asked.

Was she still alive?! Somebody was running around, but in all the chaos, Sophie couldn't tell who. Truth be told, Sophie felt like running around, too.

Where had that bright light come from? West hadn't seen much, and he went ahead and joined Mo. Easy choice, West had never enjoyed the book club stuff, least of all because of his opinions about the librarian's knowledge of magical books.

He was wrapped up all warm, even though they were indoors. All this cold was getting annoying. The professor got a slightly awkward nod in greeting for reasons, but otherwise the newly eighteen year old didn't say much.

Cris nodded in understanding when Jasmine explained her reason for picking this meeting over the Book Club one. He recalled the incident at the Great Hall and it still stung that the librarian had admonished them in front of others because of some hand kissing. Oh well!!

"I have to admit that I was really torn. Too bad both had to be held at the same time. The book they're discussing is my favorite all time book about creatures, but Professor Thompson's discussion topic also caught my attention. So here I am and I'm glad you're here too," he whispered to her bumping gently bumping his shoulder with hers.

Was that lightning? Cris noticed the sudden flash of light coming from outside keeping an ear out for the sound of thunder that usually followed. But when he didn't hear it, he got up and stared out the window.

Alarmed, his eyes opened wide in surprise when he realized it wasn't lightning he had just seen, it was the sparks coming from a wand. For the briefest of moments, Cris saw the shadow of a human illuminated. What was going on here?

Cris turned away from the window and quickly walked over to whisper in Professor Thompson's ear. "Professor something is happening outside. I just saw someone shooting off sparks from their wand and then they came running in here," Cris informed the Professor.

TakemetotheBurrow 06-22-2014 11:38 PM

Now THAT was something you didn't see everyday.

Maddie eyed the sparks outside, thinking it was lightening at first but no kind of lightening she'd ever seen. It took her a second to realize that a wand would be the more likely source of such a light and just as she DID come to this conclusion, an older boy was being all secretive with the Professor. He DID know he wasn't the only one who'd seen the light, right? No need to keep it on the DL, dude. Share with the class.

SPEAKING of the class, Maddie scooted closer to her big buddy Mo and that tall boy with the long hair from Slytherin. She didn't KNOW him but he was bigger and therefore knew more spells in case this light business was something to worry about. Being with two older boys could only help her if something went down. Hiiiii boys.

Deezerz 06-22-2014 11:43 PM

One moment she was hogging the blankets, the next the window was being illuminated and--

O__________O

There was someone...right THERE.

Several things happened at once: Beverly pulled the blanket over head head as if to shield it, she flicked her wrist for her wand and hugged it to her chest. Where'd it/he/whatever go?

"Professoooor... There's a creepo..."

Was it time to bust out her moves?

ArianaBlack 06-22-2014 11:46 PM

O________o

IT WAS HAPPENING.

The Hogwarts thing. The curse. The castle. Something wonky was going on here. First the crazy lightening. And then a flailing body. WHAT IS GOING ON!?!

Zander's eyes shot wide open as he grabbed the blanket nearest him. He wrapped it around himself, partly because of the cold, but mostly because uh what was going on. Blanket felt like the only protection he'd have around here. And oh yeah, his wand. Duh.

Is it too late to go to the book club?....

Emmylou blinked and looked around from where she was sitting. What was going on? The third year looked over at the window. WHAT HAD SHE JUST SEEN? Emmylou blinked and rubbed her eyes? She was seeing things, she really was seeing thing. Emmylou shook her head and stuck her hand in her pocket. She pulled out some emergency jellybeans, she put them in her mouth and ate them. Emmylou was so scared that she could pee herself but she was a Gryffindor a.d she just had to put on a brave face. Emmylou looked over at Zander. Would he share the blanket with her?

Holmesian Feline 06-22-2014 11:56 PM

More and more people were showing up and Benny was absently watching who stepped into the area. Still no Adi. WHich was definitely strange. Come to think of it, no sign of Angel and AJ either though there were other housemates joining the mix and sitting down. Had they decided to go to the other meeting? STill on their way? Not that he wasn't still feeling awkward around a certain first year.

Benny was suddenly feeling left alone, the third year shifting a little in place. Getting distracted, he wasn't watching anymore, instead his mind had wandered. And it was then that there was a flash of bright lights outside causing him to perk up, his fellow classmates seeming to notice it as well.

What in Merlin's beard was that?

Would anyone care to explain what just happened? Because uh... this was really weird and verging on insanely creepy. Who was that person/thing that had run out of the forrest? And why was it in the forrest to begin with. WAS HOGWARTS UNDER ATTACK!? No. Breathe. Brave Gryffindor. He was a man. A big, strong, brave, Gryffindor man! He totally had to pretend like he wasn't all nervous. He needed to prove that he was a Gryffindor. Once and for all. Straightening up his back, Zander did his best to make sure his terrified self wasn't showing.

Zander pulled at the ends of the blanket even tighter than before, but noticed Emmylou sitting nearby and looking at him? "You... you wanna share?" he asked inching towards her. He remembered the time she shared the candy with him. So, it was only common courtesy. Plus, the girl was always super nice to him. And body warmth. And two is stronger than one. They could totally take down that flailing creature thing together. Yeah. Totally....

Colley 06-23-2014 12:06 AM

Well, books were cool and all, but Cat hadn't found it particularly hard to decide between the two places, of course she was going to where Hottie Javy Professor Thompson would be. He was a very nice guy, after all, teaching people how to care for creatures.

Yeah!

She wasn't sure if she was late or not, considering there weren't too many people around, but it didn't sound like anything had started yet. Though Cat was relieved of not being tardy, she was surprised at the light, like everyone else seemed to be. What was that? Weird.

Emmylou jumped when she heard a voice, she loved back over at the window. Brave, Emmylou, be brave. She wasn't going to be brave. Whatever that was out there just scared the poop out of her...if she had to poop but she didn't have to so there would be no pooping. Anyways...Emmylou looked over towards the voice, so it wasn't at the window. It was Zander. Phew. Emmylou got off the chair and sat over near him. "I have some emergency jellybeans. Do you want some?" she whispered to him.

Mention of Cris and Jasmine

Penelope found the place where they were having the creatures playmates meeting. "Hello Professor," she greeted the professor on her way to an open blanket. Sitting down on a blanket, she found that unlike everything else around here, the blanket was warm. It was really nice to actually feel warm for a change, with all of the cold weather.

Emmy and Zander

Merlin!

What was that? Cinnamon jumped at the commotion. The bright light. The shadow of someone running. Just moments before she was walking over to say hello to Emmy.

She was now running to her to and clung to her. She didn't care if she was there standing with someone else. Cinna normally get this scared about things but after that dada class with the zombies. This tough girl turned into somewhat of a wuss.

At the sound of her voice, he broke out into a smile. Jellybeans?! This girl was prepared for it all! "Oh, I'd love some, thanks," he whispered back. Sure, it was a little nerve wracking to be sitting in such close proximity to a girl, but focusing on strength in numbers. Yeah. "I-I wonder what that was out there," his voice faltered a little bit before he caught himself and tried to sound a little more confident. Eh, give him a break he's only 14. It's okay to be a little scared. Even for a Gryffindor.

Then he noticed someone come and grab Emmylou! AH another girl!? Hogwarts was full of them! Okay, strength in numbers. Yeah. Totally. He turned to the new girl, and smiled. "Want to share the blanket with us?"

Emmylou smiled at Zander the best that she could. The once very happy Gryffindor candy girl was now scared out of her mind about all of this. Maybe zombies or the boogy man man was out there on the ground she didn't know. Emmylou went in her pocket and grabbed a little mini jellybean bag and hanged it to Zander. "Here you go. I've got plenty more where that came from." There was no way that this little thirteen year old was going to go some place without candy. "I wonder if it's one of those ice zombie things that we learned about in dark arts?"

Emmylou could have sworn that she had jumped more that ten feet in the air when someone had just out of nowhere clung to her. Who was it? Her eyes were closed when the thing had clung on to her. Was it the scary thing that had just been outside. "Get off of me monster, get off of me!" Emmylou said in a whisper and tried to pull whatever it was off of her.

Emmylou thought about what she had learn in defense against the dark arts, was it those things that were outside? Then the third year opened her ocean blue eyes and she looked at the person that was there near her? Cinna? "CINNA!" Emmylou clung to her best friend. "You just scared the jellybeans out me."

SarcasticStrawberry 06-23-2014 12:55 AM

To lazy to quote you guys

Now whatever was going really really seem to scare just about everyone. Including some of the older students. But cinnamon was a Gryffindor she wasn't supposed to be scared of nothing. Right? She continued to cling to Emmy. "Oh Emmy I'm sorry" Clings tighter.

Cinna glanced up over her clinging to Emmy at the boy who was with Emmy holding a blanket. He offered room under the blanket. "Sure! Thank you. I'm Emmys friend cinnamon." She let go of Emmy and squeezed between them under the blanket.

Zander smiled as Emmylou handed him the mini bag. Mhm. Hopefully jellybeans would make this weird light flashing monster go away. Or at least it would hopefully set him to ease. "Thanks, you're always prepared," he chuckled. So he owed her for candy twice now? Yup. Then at the mention of the cold ones from DADA, Zander felt himself immediately tense up. If that's what was outside moments ago, then nope. Nooooooope. Zander's done. Yep. Time to quit. There's no way this Gryffindor could fight of zombie things. Nooope. "I... I hope not... I hope it's just a confused firstie or something..." Or even better, a confused Zahra :mwaha: Just kidding, he's not that cruel.

Then he turned to the newcomer, he was a little shocked by how quick she was to make herself welcome in their blanket enchilada, but he did offer so it was cool. Cinnamon? That was a... Unique name. He couldn't really say anything though because his was kinda strange tooo so anyways, "Hi Cinnamon, I'm, uh, Zander." Normally he wouldn't be caught sitting this closely to a girl. Let alone, TWO WHOLE GIRLS. But he just had to keep reminding himself about strength in numbers. Those were more important than catching cooties and stuff anyways.

Practical portions are always the best in class. So between this meeting and the other one nearby, Ethan Mordaunt decided to join this lot. He can read their CoMC book anytime he wants, but getting advice on how to be a hands-on caretaker for a magical creature, was something he will not get every day. He’d have to pay someone for that, yeah? So this…this was a good deal.

With a grin on his face, he greeted the professor. “Hello, sir.” And plopped down next to Cousin Cutty and Half-Frenchie Grayson. He also saw Zander, and gave him a salute.

Okay. Uhm…did he miss anything? Confused boy, right there as he looked around him.

There wasn't even a question on which club Lex would be attending. The Gryffindor didn't read unless she had to. Going to a reading club.....was just a 'no', a big one at that so after a small wave to Mr. Kitridge--kinda awkward walking by him like that, you know--she continued on to the other one with creature stuff.

She didn't know what they'd be doing here but her chances were pretty good in the not picking up a book department.

"Hello Professor." As the Gryffindor took a seat, nodding at the people she knew and liked, she noticed a flash from the window. What the kneazle? It almost looked like someone just now...running toward the castle. Well it would serve them right. What were they doing outside in the first place? Did this cold mean nothing to them?

Lex glanced around at the others, not feeling it could have been that urgent. "Could just be someone coming to their senses about the weather outside." She suggested, getting more comfortable in her seat. It made sense, besides, no one had ever actually broken in before right? They were usually here long before...usually let in by the Headmistress actually. Had to be someone they knew.

After spending time talking spazzing out over about Star Trek with Professor Flamsteed, Simon quietly entered the room to find some of the students looking a bit uneasy. Huh? he thought as he stepped further into the room. "Hello Professor," he said and then made his way over to Cutty,Ethan, and two other Slytherins (Grayson and Sophie). "Hey guys!" he said with a grin before introducing himself to the two Slytherins that he hadn't met yet. He'd seen them around quite a bit. "Hey! I'm Simon," he said with a shy smile as he took his seat. He glanced around the room, trying to figure out what had been going on. Instead of finding an answer, he saw both Zander and Emmylou. He gave them a smile and a wave. Then he turned back to the people he was sitting with. "So what's going on..? Some of the people here look like they've seen a ghost or something?" he whispered.

Cris

Cris managed to make Jasmine smile. He had the ability to make her feel better no what matter the situation. She really was glad that he was here.

Suddenly, the room was illuminated with flashing lights. Jasmine turned to Cris with a "What in the world was that?" look on her face. She along with many of the other students looked out of the window and saw that sparks, presumably from someone's wand, had caused the room to light up.

Jasmine noticed that Penelope had moved closer to them and wanted to know what was going on. She seemed frightened so Jasmine tried to present a calm front. "I don't know what happened, but I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation. Don't worry, everything will be OK." Now if Jasmine could only get herself to believe that.

Book club, Creatures meeting. Leah was torn.

It was not that she loved reading, but she liked Mr. Librarian. He was always nice to her. However, as the urge to help creatures on the loose (as the notice had said), she had chosen to come to the playmates meeting.

Feeling guilty as she passed by the other meeting place, Leah walked in through the entrance and noticed the commotion going on. "Hello professor.. What's going on?" she said, heading towards a warm blanket.

Cris returned to join Jasmine and...where did Penelope come from? He smiled reassuringly at both of them. "Yes, Jasmine is right. I'm sure that it's nothing. And if there was, I'm sure the staff are dealing with it right now," Cris nodded even as he looked over at the entrance of the library and then around him.

Yes, he was looking for possible quick exits if there was a need for them to get out of the library quickly.

Jasmine always made Penelope feel better. There was probably a good explanation for this. Maybe some crazy person had been out in the cold shooting sparks from their wand. The cold was enough to make anyone run inside. "Thanks Jasmine. What do you think happened?"

"Hey, Professor!" he said, giving the guy a nod and sitting down on a blanket right...........

.................. Cutty Mordaunt.

"'Sup, Mordaunt." Cool and casual was the way to go.

They'd gathered around him. His snakes. His people. Dormmates...who knew where he slept and kept his things as he did them. Cutty saw them all that much more clearly as the Library was awash in brightness for a brief moment. His attention drew over to the window and he left his spot, though not without his blanket to inspect it. Someone was outside. A slight, shrouded someone.

He wasn't going to tell the Professor a word. Not yet. Not until he found out just exactly what this was worth. But maybe Thompson had caught a glimpse of the figure himself. He looked discreetly as he could to his Creature Teacher for confirmation.

Hogwarts was a very cool school, Cassia thought as she made her way to the library. Because she doubted that any student in any school could say 'I have a creature's club in the library'. The unique things you got to do and see here were countless.

As much as she wanted to drop by and greet Mr.Kitridge she willed herself to head the other direction. She'd do that later instead of interrupting him now. And she didn't want to be late for the meeting she was heading to, either. It seemed that many had arrived already. Cassia offered a smile as she settled in and would have probably greeted the lot hadn't something else caught her attention.

Was that a shadow? The snake squinted at the window. Talk about creepy.

hermionesclone 06-23-2014 02:34 PM

It didn't take long for things to happen.

Brilliant. Just brilliant.

And it was only freaking SPARKS or whatever? Sparks or some sort of light. He wanted to think sparks. He also wanted to think that there was some serious fight going on down there, which would mean that they were currently missing it! OR that they could have a good view of whatever was going to happen. As long as whatever it was outside didn't come inside to terrorise them all. No thank you. Keep it outside, mkay?

He hardly even took note of the fact that Sophie was now sitting with him and Cutty. His blue eyes landed on her when she spoke and he silently wondered if she was scared. Grayson almost wanted to ask but figured that she probably wouldn't want to say anyways. Would probably deny it, if he knew her well enough. Soooo, she got a smile.

And then came someone he knew and someone he only knew by face. "Sup, Cloud Master." Ethan. HEY. And new person who was introducing himself and was getting a smile from this fourth year for it. "Sup, Simon. It's nice to meet you. The name's Grayson." Keep it in mind, mkay? And wasn't it funny how the Slytherin third years + Grayson had huddled up together? Funny.

Then his eyes found the Professor. Had he seen what had happened? And if so, what were they going to do about it?

The 'hellos' to Professor Thompson were returned just as politely along with the curt nods, and thanking those mentioned on the choice of the location. Hmm, why not explain why they had such a location and timing, "Alright, welcome everyone to this year's Playmates meeting. Seeing as the bitter cold outside prevented us from holding one in the barnyard, Mr. Kitridge was kind enough to allow us to reside here." But enough on that, now it was time for the business, "As quite a few of you may have witnessed in Hogsmeade, we had some visitors.. Unicorns, to be exact as they ventured outside their natural habitat. While the reasons for them doing so are needed to note, it's more important to know how keep them under control before it gets even more out of hand."

Therefore, "That brings up one of the topics for today, on how to handle when you see creatures escape and go out of control. How can you take care of the situation when no one else is around to help?" Waiting on the responses before something outside their expectations happened.

Well.. Professor Thompson did notice the extra brightness that shone throughout the room from the outside. Of course, the other students did too given their immediate frenzy and worrying. "Settle down, everyone." Was still a library, after all. "Just a moment.." Javy then got up to look out the nearest window that overlooked part of the forest area. It was difficult to make out who was out there with all the sparks, other than the shadow heading somewhere. Sending sparks was a sign of help, but what was going on out there? Questions? Right now? Cris raised his hand just to get that part over with. "Professor I guess the first thing to do would be to try to calm the creatures before attempting to corral them back. That has to be done without causing any harm to yourself, others and the creatures themselves. I mean, everyone knows that a frightened creature is potentially a dangerous one. Even a unicorn can be dangerous when it's spooked. If that doesn't work, I guess the smartest thing to do would be to get out of their way especially if they start to stampede and then maybe try to follow them. They eventually have to stop running." Cris shared his opinion with everyone.

Where did the shadow head off too? Cris definitely knew where. Or at least he thought he did. So he raised his hand again. "Professor, last I saw, it looked like the shadow was headed inside here," Cris quickly informed the Professor.

Where the owner of the shadow was now, was anyone's guess.

the fastest seeker 06-23-2014 09:45 PM

Her squinting didn't last long because it was obviously unfruitful seeing that the shadow didn't make another appearance. So it just looked absurd now. Oh, Cutty and the other snakes. It looked really cool how they sat near each other. Needless, to say that Cutty's words got her lips to twitch in a very amused smile. His talents seemed liked an endless ocean. She wasn't quite certain what it was the he quoted, but she didn't need to be sure that he nailed it. Also, Ethan and Grayson got nods. Her snake boys.

Her attention next was on the professor. She folded her hands in her lap and listened carefully her head tilted. She had heard of the creatures appearing at Hogsmeade and she bummed that she didn't get to see any. Just the one time she didn't go to Hogsmeade. How unfortunate, she thought. Not that those creatures being there was a normal thing. Which only made it more unfortunate that she missed it. "I guess it would help a lot if we knew that creature's characteristics and behavior so that we would know how to deal with it without harming ourselves or the creature," She said. A general answer but she couldn't think of anything more specific without given facts like what creature it'd be. "And generally we probably shouldn't alarm the creature or get too close in case the creature was already alarmed because it might attack the first creature it sees," Again all depended on the creature and the circumstances. But then again he said 'out of control' so that sounded dangerous and it differed from creature to another.

And unfortunately she wasn't sure where the shadow headed to or looked like it was. So she kept quiet on that. Better to remain silent than to give uncertain information.

ArianaBlack 06-24-2014 12:10 AM

Zander fumbled with the blanket that was currently enchilada-ing him and the two other Gryffindor girls. Now that the lightening stuff was gone, he had realized just how close he had gotten to them.

O______________O

He was wrapped in a blanket with girls. TWO GIRLS. TWO, WHOLE GIRLS! This could not be more nerve wracking. Zander had a tough enough time talking to one girl at a time. BUT TWO! And being squished next to them!? Not to mention the fact that they were all freaking TERRIFIED of whatever happened down there near the forrest.

..... How could he possibly keep his mind on the meeting!?

Thankfully, Professor Thompson spoke up at last! HALLELUJAH! Zander tried to listen carefully to the question. He needed anything and everything that could get his mind off of the fact that he was sitting next to TWO GIRLS. AHHHHH!

"Well you have to be really quiet," he said sheepishly as he looked over at the Gryffindor Prefect, Lex. When he saw the unicorn at Hogsmeade he didn't really do a good job at that... Oops? And then the unicorn ran away in complete terror! So yeah, being quiet is good. "And you should be calm because you don't want to scare it." Another thing he didn't do well at... Oops.

But forget the escaping creatures! Bigger problems LIKE SITTING NEXT TO TWO GIRLS.

Luna_Midnight 06-24-2014 01:00 AM

Arista blinked what was that...She tried staying calm but really a shadow had just appeared along with several sparks. She waited for the Professor to do something because that was obviously his job right go get killed first?

Oh look he was speaking...She had heard of the creatures appearing at Hogsmeade and she was super bummed that she had to stay in because of homework. "Could we put our hands out and let them sniff like so they can get used to our scent?" That worked on her grandfather's horse.

Okay shadow now!! Yes she knew where it was going!!! "IT came in here Professor!!" she said her half shrieking.

Anna Banana 06-24-2014 01:05 AM

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait just a second. That THING, whatever it was, came from the outside in...HERE? At the exact same time a burst of wand light went off? Sophie was no longer edging toward Grayson and Cutty. She was now sitting directly beside them, pretending that she wasn't freaking out like she really was.

Where was her brother?!

"All the animals are moving out the forest, because it's so cold," Sophie said aloud. "You don't think something like...maybe, say...an Acromantula has decided to move into the castle, do you?" Because if it DID, it was sleeping with the Gryffindors. They were the brave ones.

Was it really that important that someone had wondered outside, got themselves into a fix, sent off sparks then abandoned all plans at adventure and ran back inside? If you asked her it was a perfectly Puffer move--maybe a Snake one too but...she didn't think anyone had gone out in this cold. Must have been a Professor. They always thought they were immune to the red shirt syndrome as Professor Airey called it. Then Cutty happened. "Yeah?" Lex asked, raising an amused eyebrow at him. If it really was Kitridge then she'd been seeing things earlier when she passed. "Think he'll know the effect is lost on me because I've never read the book?" Or most books for that matter. Didn't matter, it was only a joke.

Ah so he was making reference to the Hogsmeade incident. Odd day that had been. Disappointing too considering she never got to snag herself a unicorn. It wasn't even that big either, it wouldn't have been too much work sneaking it into the castle, all she needed was the right plan and it staying still long enough.

A glance over told her that one of her little lions had remembered his lesson well. Fast learner, she could appreciate that. It told her there was hope for him yet and he got a grin.

But in all seriousness. Handling a creature. "I think you're in luck if there's no one to help because chances are there's no one to see either. You'll have to use proper stunning spells. Ones that'll leave it immobile while you transport it--nothing like what that guy used on his nundu and got himself eaten, no. After it's down for the count you'll wanna disillusion it so there aren't as many questions and have it levitated to the Gryffindor Sixth Year girls dorm, yeah?--but of course this depends on the creature, some can stay down in the Common Room--you'll also have to plan for it freaking when you remove the spell so you'll wanna sedate it with something from the Hospital Wing. I don't reckon the Healer will mind unless she knows you took it." And a perfectly solemn no. That was how you did it.

As to whatever it was outside the window just now. "It was headed for the castle Professor." Not it. No. A person. One of them.

Creatures escaping sounded like a dream come true. They weren't escaping, really. They were returning to the wild, where they wanted to be. It didn't actually make much sense to Mo to stop them from doing something that would make them happy. He prodded West with his elbow in a general sort of hello before offering a useful suggestion to the professor.

"I think the best way to handle a creature is to ascertain what its needs are and why it is acting the way it is. You'd react different to an animal in panic than you would to one that was hungry or curious. If you can meet the needs or assuage the emotion, you'll earn the creature's trust and have more success dealing with it."

Maddie was very curious about the unicorns Professor Thompson had mentioned. They had been running around Hogsmeade? That was interesting. JUST like it was interesting that she'd met a Centaur on the grounds not too long ago. They BOTH lived in the forest, yeah? And if they were both OUT of the forest, did that mean something bad was now IN the forest? Her brown eyes widened considerably and she looked around, only vaguely aware of the fact that her classmates were offering thoughts on how to handle creatures.

UHHH.

"What Mo said." YEAH! Mo was smart so it was totally smart to back him on whatever it was he had said. His lips HAD been moving so he must have offered an answer. Also, she DIDN'T see where the mysterious figure had gone but hopefully it wasn't on its way UP HERE.

Creature escaped and out of control.........what to do? Jasmine listened as the Professor posed the first question of the day. This was a tough one because even the most mild mannered creature could be dangerous when panicked and out of control. Jasmine raised her hand.

"I guess the first thing to do would be to remain calm. It wouldn't do you or the creature any good if you freaked out too. Then, you probably want to keep your distance, at least at first. A frightened creature may not take kindly to being bum rushed." After that, Jasmine was not quite sure what she would do. She listened to her classmates as they gave their varied suggestions.

After the fireworks show, Jasmine responded to Penelope's question. "I don't know what that was, but I'm sure we weren't the only ones who saw it. I'll bet that the school staff is checking things out as we speak." Jasmine remained silent when the Professor asked where the mysterious shadow had gone. She didn't want to upset Penelope further and some other students had already responded to his question.

Weird stuff was obviously happening at Hogwarts this year.

Ethan just kept on staring at the other students as they went semi-ballistic on what they apparently saw earlier. "I have no idea mate. I just got here and totally missed the...whatever it is outside the window." And hello to you too, Simon! Ethan totally expected the other snake to be in Mr. Kitridge's book club thing, seeing that he loves to read, plus it's about their CoMC book and stuff.

Ethan wrapped the warm blankets tighter around him and leaned closer to Simon. "Could it be?..." You know, the one they were theorizing earlier?

Ethan stared. Stared at his cousin. So...what's out there, Cutty? He looked...well, he looked calm and all that, but Ethan knew the other Mordaunt was worried. Something's...not right.

FINALLY! A name for this half-frenchie guy. Grayson. Ethan took note of that. "It's actually Snowstorm Man Ethan, my friend." The third year grinned as he recalled their Transfiguration class. Or maybe he shouldn't because the class had gone terribly wrong?

But heck, he got extra points for being...Snowstorm Man. So yes, grinning it is.

Others had seen it too, including Cambridge and his prefect. But what did they actually see? He leaned over to the girls and with a slight chuckle postulated the following, "It's Mr. Kitridge staging a re-enactment of Wuthering Heights to try and and get us to join the book club." Possibly he held auditions as well and Cutty would've felt a bit put out for not having been invited into the prank if he believed his own comment. "Heathcliff, it's me, your Cathy, I've come home I'm so cold, let me into your window." He sang a bit to the girls joshingly.

"Oh, Whitlock I am frightened." Long pause. "Hold me!"

-______-

No, you're not, Cutty Mordaunt! You aren't even thinking of this instance in threatening terms!!

...and a snort escaped the boy's mouth. What have Cutty been eating lately? He didn't, for the life of him, knew that his cousin knew humor. Good humor, that is. He bit his knuckles to prevent himself from laughing. They were inside the library after all. "Cut it out Cutty boy. You are frightening him." Ethan shook his head still chuckling a bit, and gave Grayson an apologetic smile. "...he's worse than me. Definitely lost his marbles today." he said in a low tone to the older boy, and beckoned the other Mordaunt kid to settle down.

"..Did anyone take note on where that shadow headed off to?" Would be the first clue on what to do next.

...yes. Yes he was there when he overslept and was late for his meeting with Mordred. He had to be honest though. He didn't know what to do, and hid behind crates and observed instead from afar. Maybe...maybe that's the right thing to do? But then...maybe not if he was the only one around, yes?

"I guess you have to act accordingly then, sir. If the creature is aggravated by...something, then maybe it's best to stay a good distance away from it first and stay calm. Besides, a person can't think straight if he or she is frightened or taken aback by the situation." So yes, they have to keep calm first, then assess the situation.

Ethan however, looked confused as the Professor went towards one of the windows and looked outside. So...he noticed something too? Well, he was waiting for them to arrive earlier anyway, so yes he took note of it. And...shadow? The third year didn't offer any answer because he missed the brightness or whatever it is outside.

Chiara 06-24-2014 04:57 PM

I think the first thing is to keep calm and to keep the distance from the creature, without getting to run...
And..The shadow?..Lucy doesn't know where the shadow had gone...

Ones that'll leave it immobile while you transport it--nothing like what that guy used on his nundu and got himself eaten, no. I don't reckon the Healer will mind unless she knows you took it." And a perfectly solemn no. That was how you did it.

As to whatever it was outside the window just now. "It was headed for the castle Professor." Not it. No. A person. One of them.

Javy listened to each and everyone's contributing thoughts, curtly nodding at each one. Some were quite.. 'interesting' suggestions, but no matter. "Excellent, take a point each. As many of you have mentioned, any creature's behavior is the first thing we are to take care of. Making sure they are comfortable before trying to coerce them into following our own commands."

Now for the brief refresher, "Last year with Professor Fuller, we had brushed over the topic on the use of Animal Fidelius. The charm to temporarily remove any fear or hesitation from acting on their command. Now how different is this from the illegal Imperius curse? Other than it actually being a charm, while you're Imperised you lose awareness up until the curse is lifted on any actions you're made to do. Whilst with Animal Fidelius, they are fully aware and left feeling no different once the charm is lifted." Speaking from experience.. but of course there was always the difficulty, "Naturally though, unless you're a skillful castor, performing the charm will be easier on a creature you've become familiar and bonded with. So now what if you have no time to bond with them?" This question didn't need to be answered.

If they hadn't taken mental notes, now would be good as any. "As Miss Cambridge suggested, there is a variety of spells that one could use. It often takes more than just one spell to help subdue and maintain control again." Taking his wand to clear the board behind him to prepare a full list. "Now what other spell would you suggest and how would such a spell help?"

It was difficult to hide the concern, especially from the students reactions. Yet Javy managed to cover it with his blank face, he was use to doing this. Despite their distance, he could make out some of Leo the Librarian's words. He was going to investigate. Seeing him and the familiar-looking Gryffindor student already make there way, he had a sudden thought. They were going outside.. in the cold. Yeah. "Miss Somerlad and Miss Guidry.. please take some of these unused blankets out for Mr. Kitridge and Mr. Bay and see if they require any other assistance."

Stefan 06-24-2014 05:39 PM

Hmm. Hmmm. Maybe one of his answers in his Charms Homework might help, no? Ethan got his hand out of his blanket and raised it just beside his head. Merlin, the cold weather really should just quit it. “Professor? How about the Placement Charm we used on the winged horses? The charm could be used to prevent physical contact with the creature so as not to aggravate them further.” He’d really hate it if someone touched him if he wasn’t feeling comfortable, let alone be touched by a stranger, yes? And, how exactly will this help? “…from what I have seen back in Hogsmeade, if I was the only person there, I’d use the charm to give it food. Unicorns don’t trust males…but it needs to be fed, so there.”

Ethan’s attention however shifted again to the commotion that was happening. Why is Mr. Kitridge and a certain Mr. Bay out in the cold? And…now Professor Thompson is asking Cassia and Jasmine to help?

...

Yep. He’s got a bad feeling about this.

It seemed that mostly everyone had interesting thoughts. It was both fun and enlightening to listen to what the others had thought of or would do in such situation. And if anything happened, it would always be better if there were more than one person. The more skills, eyes and ideas the better.

And although, she tried to focus her undivided attention on the professor, she couldn't help not steal glances at the other meeting where Mister Kitridge was leaving? She wasn't quite sure but she doubted as much.

It looked like she wasn't the only one slightly distracted by the situation. She was rather curious as to what were the bool club peeps up to.

"Of course, sir," She said as Professor Thompson addressed her and the Ravenclaw girl. Seemed like her curiosity was going to be fulfilled. The seventh-year rose to her feet and picked up some blankets leaving others for her partner and edged closer to the exit. Better if they went there together of course.

Daydreamer11 06-24-2014 06:37 PM

Like everyone else Jasmine was distracted by the goings on outside and in the Library. She became concerned when she realized that Mr. Kitridge and Bay were going outside. She looked at Cris with a worried look on her face. Then Professor Thompson asked her and another student to help take warm blankets to them.

"Yes Professor", Jasmine said. Getting up slowly, she went over to the pile of blankets and picked up a handful. Her co-blanket deliverer had already picked up some blankets, so they were ready. She gave Cris one last glance before she left, hoping that she would be back. Trying to maintain a neutral expression, Jasmine headed out of the Library in search of the investigation team. At least she had someone to go with her so everything would be fine, right?

FireboltAvis88 06-24-2014 07:31 PM

Cris looked worriedly up at Jasmine when Professor Thompson asked her to bring blankets out to assist Mr. Kitridge and Bay while they were out there in the freezing cold. He would have volunteered to go along as well, but since the Professor hadn't asked him to and since he was confident that the Professor knew what he was doing, he remained silent and mouthing Be Careful to her before he watched his girlfriend leave the library.

He turned worried eyes to look at Professor Thompson and struggled to think of an answer to the question the Professor had posed. No time to bond with them? Cris raised his hand and hazarded a guess.

"Professor, maybe we could use the Memory Charm on them. If they can't remember what scared them in the first place, they'll start to calm down?" Cris shared his thoughts before gazing back at the library entrance. Where was Jasmine and Cassia? Surely, delivering blankets and assisting didn't take that long.

Cris couldn't take the worry and suspense any longer. He raised his hand, a pleading look on his face,"Professor, is it okay, if I go out there and help too?" he couldn't sit here, while Jasmine was out there with the others. All of them could possibly be in danger.

hermionesclone 06-24-2014 07:39 PM

Grayson had completely missed whatever it was that Thompson had said. Why?

Cutty Mordaunt wanted to be held. Cared for. Wanted these strong biceps wrapped around him in a lovingly manner.

Grayson snorted when Ethan did before saying, "You'll be fine, Cutty boy." Back pats for you for now. And apparently, he had lost his marbles, according to Snowstorm Man Ethan. "Snowstorm Man Ethan sounds like a heroic name." It did. And this was a GOOD thing. "Dunno, Slytherins gotta stick together." Something Cassia would approve of.

Speaking of, 'sup Head Girl. She got a nod in return.

Andddddddd Thompson was talking again. Which meant that he WAS paying attention this time. Uh huh.

Animal Fidelius? A charm to remove fear or hesitation from acting on their command? WHY in the name of Merlin hadn't HE been there to try that spell out? JEEZ. It sounded like a freaking BRILLIANT spell. Making sure that they were friendly and whatnot. It would save them the time of making sure that the creature wasn't going to run off OR bite him on his leg. Though, now he did wonder how well it worked with a not-so-friendly person.

Another spell that could help? Er. Jeez. That was a hard question. "Does the Cheering Charm work on animals?" Er, maybe he should explain so that it didn't sound like he wanted there to be so much happiness in the world. That wasn't very him. "Because if they're happier, they're more likely to trust you." And you could carry on with your task.

Anna Banana 06-24-2014 07:50 PM

So, wait--they were just going to carry on as if nothing had just happened?

Also...what was with everybody wanting to be Harry Potter and going out to save the day? Sophie was going to volunteer alright. She was going to volunteer to just stay put and let everybody else put themselves in danger.

But for now...what were they even talking about? "Has anybody said Arresto Momentum yet?" she asked. "Because that slows the movement of an object, and buying us a little extra time wouldn't hurt."

TakemetotheBurrow 06-24-2014 07:56 PM

"You could use a shield charm to protect yourself from the animal while you wait for help to come," Maddie offered distractedly. She was STILL wondering what was going on OUTSIDE the meeting and once her mind was focused on something she was curious about, it was very hard to turn her attention to something else, especially without answers.

She WAS trying, though. Honest.

AlwaysSnapesGirl 06-25-2014 03:51 AM

Penelope sorta wanted to go out there too and see what was going on, but at the same time, she also didn't. 'Cause it was cold outside and she had a nice warm blanket in here, and sure, she could take the blanket outside like Cassia and the Ravenclaw were, but she also didn't want to move. So yeah, she wasn't gonna complain about staying in here for this meeting thing. Probably wasn't much going on out there now anyway.

So anyway, spells. "Maybe you could use a Summoning Charm to summon some food or something else to make the creature want to trust you." That was the only suggestion she could come up with right now.

DaniDiNardo 06-25-2014 05:03 AM

Oh hey where was Cassia going and how come she hadn't volunteered to go too? It didn't matter so much where it was or how dangerous it was. Curiosity was always enough to lunge her forward. As it stood, it was Cassia and some Ravenclaw going while they sat here answering questions. If only the Professor had brought food with him. Kitridge would never have to know. They wouldn't say anything if he wasn't saying anything.

But yes, back to the discussion where she was pleased to see the Professor taking her idea just as seriously as everyone else's.

The Gryffindor stuck her hand up. "You could always try the body binding curse if the creature isn't too big. That would get 'em holding still long enough for whatever."

And she did mean whatever. The possibilities were endless once you successfully subdued an animal.

ArianaBlack 06-25-2014 05:08 AM

O____O

So were they just going to ignore the fact that something really funky just happened? Because this smelled like trouble. It also smelled like fear. And fear smelled a whole lot like sweat. And... No... It was not coming from Zander pft. Okay maybe a little. But he had taken a shower this morning and everything! Hopefully the two girls wouldn't noticed. The fact that they were all enchilada-ed together was really helping. Plus it made it even more of a reason to keep his composure. He couldn't have them thinking that he was terrified. He was the man. And a Gryffindor man nonetheless.

Either way Zander was a bit too distracted to give on a full answer. So he just listened to the others before contributing himself. "I agree with Ethan, Sir!" he said giving a nod to Simon's friend and now hopefully his friend too? He was a cool guy. And Zander wanted to be friends with him... Please?

"Since we used the placement charm in class, I figure that it'd be a good charm for the creatures. You could use it for food like Ethan suggested, and then you could probably use it for placing maybe something on the creature that would help you bring it back without freaking it out by getting too close?" He wanted to say like a leash. But that would probably be frowned upon. Either way, the placement charm could definitely come in handy. "And if you need to interact with the creature, but you aren't sure if it's safe or not, it'd be a good idea to keep distance. So the charm would help with that too I suppose." Boy was he sure rambling on now. He just needed to distract himself.

FireboltAvis88 06-25-2014 05:23 AM

How much time had gone by since Jasmine and the Head Girl left the library? Cris studied his watch again. For Cris, it had been long enough. Getting up from the blanket he was sitting on, he wandered over to the window to gaze out. He could see his breath fogging up the glass in front of him and he wondered whether Jasmine was warm enough out there. More importantly, he also wondered whether she was safe.

He turned back to look desperately at Professor Thompson, before turning back to gaze out the window again. We should all be out there instead of in here, Cris wanted to tell the Professor. How is talking about how one should deal with a creature relevant while we're inside here, safe and cosy inside the library? We should be out there right now, Cris wanted to turn around and tell the Professor.

But, he remained silent and continued to stare helplessly out the window instead.

nanyjj 06-25-2014 12:40 PM

Leah was trying hard not to just turn around and stare out the window. She was wondering what was going on outside. Jumping slightly as the professor asked another question, she realized that they were just going to carry on. Okay then. The Hufflepuff reminded herself that she should be volunteering to go outside and help like Cris, but her cold hands told her that she was too cold to do anything. Grrr.

Raising up her hand, the second year said, "I don't know much about spells, but I think conjuring food to attract the animal would work." she agreed to the older Gryffindor girl. FOOD solves everything! Hmm okay that was a bit of a stretch.

Chiara 06-25-2014 08:17 PM

Lucy said:"Professor, maybe we could use the Legilimens charm..
Does the Legilimens Charm work on animals?
If we can find out what scared the animals we can help them to overcome their fears...!"

Watson 06-26-2014 12:57 AM

After meeting Grayson, Simon had been pretty much silent the whole time during the meeting. He'd zoned out completely as he kept on thinking of what could have possibly caused most of his fellow colleagues to become spooked out.

So he listened to the others. Or at least tried too. He hadn't been aware of people leaving the room to go run errands for the Professor as he assumed that it was normal. But when he saw some students carrying blankets, he sat up more and paid more attention. Focus Simon. Focus. He wondered what they were possibly up to. He stared out the window briefly before refocusing when Thompson asked them a question.

Ah question time!

Well if they had no time to bond with the animal then he supposed that they ought to be courteous and treat the animal with due respect. Food would help sort the situation out, wouldn't it? He figured that they probably should keep the animal calm throughout the whole situation. He raised his hand and offered a response. "I also think that having food out would be the quickest way to get the creature to work with you. However, when your giving the creature food, you shouldn't make quick movements; otherwise, you may scare it away," he said. Treat a creature with respect. That was an important part of dealing with any type of animal: magical or not.

Charely Potter 06-26-2014 07:05 PM

Javy nodded as they had left, his seat was closest to the window so he could idly glance over every now and then. Yes, the two young ladies would only need to deliver the blankets to them and if they needed any help, they would let him know.. Supposedly. To the younger Strand brother who decided to stand right by to look out the window, "Have a seat, Mr. Strand." Choosing now to glance out the window, he could see Leo and young Mr. Bay already out there with.. Piersie? His voice remaining firm as he continued. Last thing they needed was another student out there for them watch after. "..Mr. Kitridge and Professor Fuller should be more than capable of looking after them." As he hoped because doubting their abilities wasn't a wise choice at this time.

"Yes, as long as the proper equipment is around." Dragonkeepers used this a lot.

Er, maybe he should explain so that it didn't sound like he wanted there to be so much happiness in the world. That wasn't very him. "Because if they're happier, they're more likely to trust you." And you could carry on with your task.

"They can, depending on the creature and their size. The larger-sized creatures may experience further aggression if not performed properly."

"Yes, those are acceptable." Also nodding in approval at the three.

Interesting choice on using Legilimens. "It could in theory.. Given how advanced the spell is it probably wouldn't be the first spell many would think of attempting on a creature." Since the spell would require a calm and clear mind beforehand. Though Javy wouldn't recommend it, he was appreciative of her idea.

Giving the board a few taps as he added one of his own. "The tickling charm can be considered as quaint, but another effective spell if targeted at the right spot. Since that part was over. Javy then reached into his bag to take out a box. Handing it to the nearest student, "Alright now, everyone take one and pass it down." Inside the boxes was a palm-fitting sized toy. The toys let out a soft squawking noise when held a certain way. The Professor waited until everyone had one of their own before he could continue.

Stefan 06-26-2014 07:20 PM

The third year looked from Cris to Professor Thompson and was still wondering why he let students go out in the cold? It's a good thing it wasn't him because he's done with the weather, really. Ethan took out his notebook and jotted down notes as soon as they moved on with the discussion. Yep, those will definitely come in handy just in case he's out in the open again.

Ethan looked up just in time to see the Professor get a box from his bag. He got the box from him and got a piece of toy from it. A hippogriff? The third year examined his toy and passed the box to the next person beside him.

TakemetotheBurrow 06-26-2014 07:45 PM

Maddie wouldn't have guessed the tickling charm but she could see how that might work. She could also see how that might earn you a hoof to the head but to each his or her own, she supposed.

And then she got herself a toy hippogriff. The small brunette observed it curiously, ignoring any thoughts about the sparks outside because she figured it was being taken care of and she couldn't do anything about the situation from all the way in here. Where it was warmer which she liked, by the way. Oh and she should pass the box on, yeah? Wouldn't want anyone to miss out.

"Here." Next person could take it away, now.

FireboltAvis88 06-26-2014 08:45 PM

Cris turned to look at his Care of Magical Creatures Professor, when he heard the man call his name. He turned to look one last time out the window before returning to his seat on the blanket even though he knew his full concentration would not be in this room right now.

He took the box that a young Ravenclaw handed to him and looked inside. If it were some other time, Cris would have been thoroughly amused at what he saw inside. But now was not one of moments.

Reaching in, he picked up one of the toy Hippogriffs and passed the box on.

MuggleDinosaur 06-26-2014 09:04 PM

Even though the third year was shivering but she was smiling even after what had happened because she figured that smiling would make everything better but for once it didn't work. The blonde frowned and looked at the other students but then listened to the Professor. This meet was interesting but what she had seen outside just scared her so much that she couldn't properly enjoy the meeting like she wanted too. Emmylou grabbed the box from the older student that had given it to her.

Emmylou put her hand in the box and pulled out a cute, adorable little stuffed Hippogriff. She gave the box to another student and smiled brightly, hugging the Hippogriff. Hippogriffs made everything better and they were adorable!

AlwaysSnapesGirl 06-26-2014 10:08 PM

Tickling Charm? Hm, yeah, that probably would be useful. She wasn't too sure if it would make a creature want to trust you, though she would only let someone tickle her if she trusted and liked them - and even then, only Ascanius really did. Anyone else would get punched if they tried tickling her, charm or not.

But maybe creatures didn't mind tickling as much? So maybe the Tickling Charm would be good.

And now something was being passed around. Penelope accepted the box from someone and pulled out one of the little hippogriffs before passing the box along to someone else.

Aw. The little hippogriff was cute. Kinda reminded her of the one Atticus had too.

Watson 06-26-2014 10:16 PM

Simon pulled out his notebook as Professor Thompson replied to their answers. Who thought that he would have needed to take notes in the club? He didn't think he would need too, but he was adamant that he would probably forget half the things that happened during the meeting if he didn't write it down.

Then the Professor had passed around a box. Simon squinted his eyes trying to see what it was. His blue eyes widened when he recognized that it was a little toy. It was of a magical creature, but what was that one?

When someone passed him the box, he picked one up and then passed the box onto the next person. He examined the very small hippogriff. It was an adorable representation of the creature. Were they going to practice the charms on the toy to make sure it stayed in control?

ArianaBlack 06-27-2014 12:00 AM

Zander could feel Emmylou shivering and it made him kind of sad. Was she shivering because she was cold? Or was it out of fear of the earlier incident? Either way, Zander was trying to keep his cool. Mostly because he was next to two girls. The enchilada wasn't helping. Zander reached over for another blanket and wrapped it around Emmylou. "Any better?" he asked her with a slight hint of concern in his face. He didn't want his new friend to be shivering, awh.

Then as the box of toys reached him he grabbed one. WOAH! Bet they weren't getting any of these in book club! Yeah, he made the right choice. Heh. Would they get to keep them? Pleeeeeeeaaaaaasssseeeeee! But what did the toys have to do with controlling creatures exactly?

Anna Banana 06-27-2014 12:36 AM

When the box was passed to her, Sophie peeked in before reaching in. Call her a true Slytherin, but she just didn't trust something just because everybody else had pulled out a tiny Hippogriff. Looking inside, she spotted many more tiny Hippogriffs. Hmm...mmkay.

She reached in and pulled one out and sort of looked it over before passing the box. After she had hers in hand, she glanced up at the list of spells the professor had made. It was kind of hard to concentrate when Merlin knew what was going on outside. Sophie was still kind of convinced those things from Defense class were about to attack.

Colley 06-27-2014 01:35 AM

Caterina found that she was having a bit of a hard time focusing and had thought about maybe she should have worn her glasses because her eyes were very tired. Maybe she just needed to take a nap later, or go to bed early. Or maybe she could get Mo to kiss both of her eyes, surely that would make them feel good as new, right? She grinned then, considering healing methods and things she'd heard Aunt Lily talk about and thoroughly distracted herself until she was handed a box.

And look how CUTE! Eagerly, she placed the tiny thing in the palm of her hand and passed the box on again to whoever was nearest her, she didn't take much notice because she was once more distracted, this time, by the little thing. Was it a boy or a girl? Could she name it? It was cute!

DaniDiNardo 06-27-2014 02:31 AM

Looking through the window, Lex began thinking she'd made all the wrong life choices. Cassia was out possibly having a death defying adventure and she was sitting here being passed a plushy hippogriff? No Professor, we're sorely disappointed. At the very least it should have been animated and havoc causing. If these were souvenirs then she'd have preferred hers made of chocolate thanks. And while they were talking about chocolate, maybe some actual chocolate frogs too.

Lex took one and plopped it in her lap, not sure what else she was meant to do with it. She supposed she could animate it but no one else was. Nothing wrong with being a trend setter, it was just the thought that she had the wrong idea here so she sat and stared at the Professor with a look that said 'I'd rather be battling Cold Ones outside than sitting with a teddy, DO something Sir'.

Now to hope he read looks from Gryffindor well...and that they don't break out the silver wear and decide on a PINK tea party. Make no mistake. She'd walk out if that happen. Definitely.

But waiting now.

nanyjj 06-27-2014 01:02 PM

Oh, the tickling charm? That was one of Leah's least favorite spells. Ever. She hated being tickled. Why would anyone do that, really, it destroyed her beautiful self.

Then the professor started handing out.. toy Hippogriffs? The Hufflepuff took one in her hand and squeezed. She could not help but look out the window for another second before passing the box down. "Here you go," Leah said to anyone who was next to her.

The thought of Alexa Cambridge having read anything even remotely like the old muggle romance struck the boy with a wave of amusement. Though, hearing her recap it would more than likely be humourous. Not that his recap was all that likely to be congruous with what actual transpired in the work either.

So yes, grinning it is.

...and a snort escaped the boy's mouth.

Cutty found the reaction of the other Mordaunt boy to be interesting. Was Ethan explaining him to Grayson? This didn't offend Cutty in the slightest. He actually found it a bit funny and possibly useful. Someone there to translate his various misdeeds into socially apropos things. Yes.

Why, though? That part he didn't understand.

Cutty backburnered his analysis of Ethan Mordaunt for a moment to regard Strands previous motion toward the window. He watched the older boy as he peered out of the window in an almost longing fashion.

Was that simply what boyfriends did?

Carrying on as if nothing had happened was probably a choice of fear-quashing on behalf of the adult in the Library, but Cutty wasn't bothered by it. As he wasn't particularly caring for the incidents outside of the castle at the moment. Besides if he needed information there was always Cassia in the common room.

"Thanks, Leah." As the box of wee hippogriffs made it's way around, Cutty reached in and pulled on out. Afterward he passed the box on to the next student. He held the tiny hippogriff in such a manner as to cause it to make it's little sound before righting it again. Then repeated the motion until he grew quite tired of it.

Beverly tried her hardest to pay attention to Professor Javy. She did and she was, but the looming thought of something out (and inside) there still bothered her. It was quite normal having read all of Hogwarts, A History a bazillion times. What if that one guy Lord Voldemortist came back? Or pirate ghosts made it back somehow? Or what if people were being control to attack others?

OR.

What if it was Cold Ones and Skygge out there and they were going to be attack at ANY MOMENT AND...stop. Beverly paused her train of thought. Nope. She wasn't going to over think this. No. The weather was due to global warming, and a stupid someone had probably gotten themselves stuck outside and--What about the sparks?

Thank Merlin, her thoughts were scattered when someone passed her a box. What? What was this? Looking inside she found a bunch of small hippogriffs. Asldfkjd! She wanted one. Reaching inside she curled her fingers around one and passed the box.

Distraction at its best.

"Thanks, Professor." She could keep it, right?

Holmesian Feline 06-29-2014 02:17 AM

Benjamin had opted to stay inside while others ventured out to make out what was happening there. See...not all Gryffindors rushed out into possible danger and the third was fine with that. After the last two DADA classes, all sorts of thoughts were passing into what it could be and he hoped it wasn't any he could think of.

Trying not to dwell on it, the lion boy focused instead on what was being discussed, the ways to care for a creature including spells and overall behavior. Benny scribbled down a few notes on a scrap piece of paper as he listened before finally switching his attention to the box being passed around.

A toy Hippogriff?

He couldn't help but think of his bestie as he took one for himself out of the box. The Hufflepuff obviously missing the meeting as he hadn't arrived by now. A small squawk brought his focus back to the item in his hand and Benny straightened the creature which made it stop as it settled into his grasp.

Charely Potter 06-30-2014 05:59 AM

Whilst the students were one by one passing along the box, Javy the Creature Professor took a moment to glance out the window again. He could barely make out the figures running out of the forest, thanks to sky gradually turning into the night time darkness. He would have to find out the circumstances that came about in the forest later as his eyes returned to the students who now had the toy in their hands.

"Right.. I believe that will do for today, hopefully you'll all be wary on the chance of anymore loose creatures running around." And if so, well, now they'll have a relatively good chance on handling the situation. "You're free to keep the little dolls to care for them like your own." ..Or not, it was their choice after all. "Now head off straight to your dorms, last thing you need to be wary of is another Professor roaming around." They were more happy to remove points at this time of the night, after all.

Stefan 06-30-2014 06:23 AM

Wait, what? They're done? Ethan stared at Professor Javy THE Creatures Professor, then slowly to the board, then to the toy he was holding. They were being dismissed? Well, the boy was hoping that they will be discussing more stuff.

Like the Unicorns he saw back at Hogsmeade, or the Centaurs that Simon saw back at the pathways.

Well, at least they got...a toy. A squeaky toy that is. Ethan gave Simon, Cutty, Grayson, and Zander a look, gathered his things and stood up. "Professor? Can we also...keep the blankets for now? It's really cold in the hallways." he asked as he wrapped the thick, warm, sheet tighter around him. They have to make semi-long trips to their respective dormitories, just so he knows.

nanyjj 06-30-2014 08:55 AM

"You're welcome." Leah said to the Slytherin boy next to her, observing the toy. She looked up in surprise at the professor when he said that they were dismissed. She expected more discussions coming but was okay with going back to her warm dormitory as soon as possible. She could hug her new toy while she slept or something. The Hufflepuff was concerned for the people outside, though. She hoped they were safe.

Another Slytherin boy spoke up and Leah was really grateful at that. "I agree, Professor." The second year stood up, holding her bag in one hand and the blanket in another. She hoped she could find another Badger to walk back together. It was cold AND creepy nowadays.

Chiara 06-30-2014 10:32 AM

B-b-but they hadn't even done anything yet!? Although he was still wrapped in the blanket enchilada with the two Gryffindor girls, he was quite disappointed. Zander actually liked Care of Magical Creatures, believe it or not, and this was their chance to learn more stuff! And all they got was toys and like okay maybe a few notes, buuuut still!

Maybe book club may have been the better choice after all. Hmph. But uh, what were they supposed to do with the toys? Yes they were incredibly cute and stuff, but it's not like he could actually be seen carrying a doll around with him! He was a third year. A third year man. A brave Gryffindor third year man who did not carry dolls. He'd just have to hide it in his trunk and hope that Peeves wouldn't go up to the dorms again.

Zander caught sight of Ethan and returned his look with a shrug. Why did they have to end the meeting so early? Did it have something to do with the creepy lightning and cold one walker thing? Because in that case, Zander felt much safer here. With a professor. And warm blankets. Speaking of which, when he heard Ethan ask about the blankets Zander gave an enthusiastic nod. Yes, that would be HIGHLY appreciated.

Then looking to both Emmylou and Cinnamon, Zander sighed. "Do you guys wanna... you know... erm... Walk back to the common room together?" Because there was no way he was going up to the seventh floor by himself!

That was it?

There was no food to start, no creatures to hold her--except this stuffed thing, what was this anyway?--then they leave? No big adventure like Cassia got to go on? Laaaame. She was animating hers and letting her Kneazle have a grand time with it. What else was there to do with a stuffed toy? She was never the type to cuddle teddies and treat them like the living things they were not--

Whaaaaa?

"The dorms? But it's still so early. Are we not having dinner then?" Last she checked, the sky changing colour meant they'd be fed soon. They couldn't not get fed just because someone got over their moment of stupidity and decided to come back inside. This wouldn't work. Nope.

Lex rose from her seat, giving another glance through the window but not seeing much in the way of anything special. The kitchen Professor, the Gryffindor was going to the kitchen, not her dorms. Food was a serious matter. More serious even than points.

Caleb had been relatively quiet the whole meeting, mainly because he was still getting over that flu and he was more in the mood for a nap than this meeting. But he still took one of the tiny toys out of the bag as it was passed around - after all, it WAS the closest thing he'd ever get to a REAL hippogriff for a pet. No way Mum and Dad were going to let him get one of those.

But then - it was over? Wow, that had been fast. Caleb gathered his teeny tiny hippogriff and then followed the crowd out of the library, excited to get back to his dorm and in his warm bed.

Simon's jaw dropped. He shot Ethan and Zander a confused glance. This didn't make any sense whatsoever.

What? How-? Huh?How could they be done so early. They had only gotten their toys and they were about to start learning about all this cool stuff. Nothing made sense. Why had the Professor ended early? Then all of a sudden, Simon's blue eyes widened with a thought. Ohhh... That made sense. Perhaps the Professor wanted to go see what was going on outside the library. He probably wanted to check up on Cassia and Jasmine.

So he started to pack away all of his things and then nodded towards the Professor. "Stay warm, sir," he said. It was way too cold in the corridors these days. Hogwarts was getting unsafe so he thought it'd be wise to ask a buddy to walk back with together. Simon wasn't scared of walking alone. He just thought it would be smarter to walk in a pack back to the Common Room. Mhmm.. So he called out to Ethan and asked him. " Hey! Want to walk back to the Common Room together?"

Dinner actually sounded great. And completely missing the danger, if there ever really was any, Cutty gave a faint, but blithely innocent smile toward the Gryffindor Prefect that suggested with ever fiber of his being that they should be getting dinner and not asking about getting dinner. Besides, he sort of heard Professor Thompson's suggestion of the dorms as merely a suggestion. Not a command.

He squeezed his tiny hippogriff and without further adieu scarpered off from the library.

So the meeting was over? It seemed like a rushed ending, but Sophie couldn't blame the professor. With everything that had happened in the past half hour, she was surprised the meeting hadn't ended earlier. She did, however, narrow her eyes at one thing the professor said. Had he said something about being wary of another professor roaming around? Had that been a professor they'd seen earlier, and he just saw something they didn't? Hmm...

With her toy hippogriff clutched in her hand, Sophie gathered her belongings and started to leave. "Bye, Professor. Thanks for the hippogriff," she said. She waved to him before heading off toward the common room.

That was rather quick. Beverly blinked at the professor then at the miniature hippogriff. So that was that? Okay. She could do with the free time, though she would have liked to go into detail about creatures and stuff.

Oh well. She had better things to do. Sort of. Yeah. And no, that did not involve the common room just yet. Beverly Wayne had somewhere to be and as a Slytherin she was confident she wouldn't get caught.

Gathering her belongings and holding on to the hippogriff she name Remmy a second ago, she waved at the professor. "Thank you for the toy."

Maybe the professor's too eager to get out too and check out what happened, that's why he's ignoring him? Well, whatever. Maybe if he'd be super fast then he'll get to their warm common room in no time.

It's just that...the dungeons are so cold at the moment.

Anyway, he shrugged back to Zander, eyed Cutty scampering away, then to Simon. "Let's go, Watson." It was the wisest thing to do. Besides, they could practice football down in the third year dorms. Alec's gifts were awesome. Oh and...maybe Simon knows a thing or two about it.

Ethan stuffed his hippogriff toy inside his satchel and stood up. "Thanks for the short...discussion, professor. And yeah, the toy. Will take care of it." Yes. Apparently, things have gone weird over the few minutes they were there, and thought it wise to walk down to the dungeons with his best bud. Mhm. He glanced one more time at the window, then headed towards the door.

Naturally since it was still chilly. "Yes, you may have the blankets as well." He could always duplicate more later if needed.

The Professor's face turned into a little of concern. Somehow this Prefect lost track of time to miss out on dinner that happened before the meetings took place. Had to have been some studying or patrolling business to have done so. "If you can make it to the kitchens and back to your dorm in time, feel free.." It was too bad food wasn't allowed in the library. The next time he has these meetings will be more satisfactory and with less interruptions.

Javy could now hear Nessa release the others as well now, "Alright, let's leave in an orderly fashion nice and quiet." Walking with them out after tidying up the area they were residing in. Hopefully things were okay for Leo, Piers and the students that were returning now.
