Strategically placed in front of the seating area for viewing purposes is a large plexiglass dome that at first glance appears to only house an myriad of harmless magical plants that once sat in the abandoned greenhouses. But if you step closer to the entrance, you'll notice the sign that reads 'Butterfly Hunting' along with instructions on how this station works and rack of butterfly nets.
The outside view makes the dome appear to be some sort of forest, and the inside view is no different. Working similar to a magical tent, the inside is double the size of the actual dome and it's much warmer in here than it has been in the entire castle for months. There is a dirt path that trails through the entire dome, doubling back on itself several times and finally leading out towards the exit on the other side. In between the two doors are dozens of plants scattered about, some surrounding small ponds and benches, moving at their own free will and others are very much stationary and mundane.
But the plants are not why you're here. It's the hundred of butterflies that fly through the air and rest on the plants, literally glowing with magic. They seem peaceful and easy to catch, but these magical butterflies are anything but. Most of them are larger than the average butterfly, some flying faster than you can run and others slow enough to creep up on but that doesn't make them easier to catch, for these butterflies also have the ability to do marvelous things such as disappear on sight into other areas of the dome, shoot sparks out of their antennaes when feeling threatened, hopping from plant to plant, and some just like to tickle. Try not to get bogged down by those.
The point of this section is to catch as many magical butterflies in your net as you can before reaching the other side. It only takes a few minutes to make it through the entire course, and whoever comes out on the other side with the most from their group that they entered with, will win a special surprise.

Hm? Her head whipped around when she heard her nickname - albeit one only used by one person - and smiled at the sight of her snuggle person. "Hi." He got a hug and quite possibly a kiss on the cheek but other people definitely didn't see that nope. "Come catch a butterfly!"
At least someone looked focused on the cause. Cassia much approved of that. She watched how Donny got all ready to hunt and moved herself out of the way but didn't get far. But she did have an eye on that prize box. No one looked interested in it, anyway. She started doubting people knew about it at all. Or perhaps they wanted to win those prizes the right way so that they'd deserve them. Those righteous hogwartians.
"You go, Donnacha Andrew--.. !!!" something! WOOT! "Keep it up and you'll pocket those prizes," Motivation. Ahem. It usually works with the snakes.
Head Girl Cassia seemed like she really wanted people to win some prizes. Wasn't she going to catch some butterflies? But Donny wouldn't let the Head Girl down. He would try not to let her down; time to catch some butterflies!
Donnacha turned and grinned at Cassia, giving her a thumbs up before jumping after another butterfly. The butterfly was too quick though and Donny ended up falling head first into the plant he had meant to jump over.
"Ew." Plants didn't taste good, you know? Donny got up and cleaned his face. His net... was fine. Perfect. More butterfly hunting then. No broken faces, though. His mam wouldn't like that. .....not that she would find out. Being snowed in and all that had it's perks. "Any ideas on how to cats all the butterflies?!" Head Girls had clever ideas yeah?

OH, judging by Cassia's words that was a clear sign that it was time to get this event started! Her attention had been brought towards Donny when she saw him go chasing after butterflies already. She couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm & eagerness, it felt infectious. Josie took that as an initiative to have her net up at the ready & begin her hunt as well too.
That was when he eyes had settled on one ahead of her, it wasn't it's regular size though. It looked as though it was the same size as her growing kitten Sebastian. Walking on her toes, she slowly began to creep up on it inching closer & closer.
And then...

...Alright, this wasn't going to be easy..
The girl, who he now knew to be Josie, seemed a bit shy. Just like his little brother, Cian. Donny smiled at her and decided that maybe he shouldn't be so loud right now. Shy people didn't like that stuff, apparently. "We can hunts them together, if you want!" He said and offered her another smile.
Donny spent most of his summers by the beach catching crabs and fish and stuff. Butterflies couldn't be that difficult to catch, right? Just jump around and wave your net around a bit, that seemed to be the best way to go. "S'nice to meet you for reals!" The whole falling thing didn't count, did it? He wouldn't let her trip over his foot this time.
Donny watched Josette creep up on a butterfly for a moment and thought that she was doing a good job, but that was when the butterfly managed to get away. Stealth wasn't the way to go, see? Did butterflies even have ears?!
His technique was still the same, so Donny took a deep breath after finding a big butterfly to catch and got his net ready. Ok, Donny. THIS IS IT. He yelled and ran after the butterfly.
No, but really, did butterflies have ears? Because the butterfly seemed to have noticed his approach. Donnacha sighed and jumped up as high as he could, but the net just missed the butterfly. Come oooooon..!

So this field day thing seem pretty awesome. And has all springy like which made her happy. She love spring. What was more springy than butterflies? Emmy had asked her to meet up with her. She was excited. She hadn't seen Emmy in so long. Weird right? They lived it the same dorm. On the way she seen a go-kart track and paintball now that sound fun. Not that butterfly hurting wasn't awesome. the other two sounded funner to her. She was going to have to find Bart to do one of those with her.
Now where was she? EMMYLOU. Where are you? It didn't take her long to find her. And Kace and Lux were there too. Yay. It really did seem like she hadn't seen any of them in forever. She ran up to them. Grinning happily. "Hey Guys, I guess I'm not too, late." She beamed at all three of them. Butterfly hunting, anyone?

Emmylou noticed one of her professors here too. "Hello Professor." Emmylou beamed and waved at her history of magic professor.

Penelope wasn't sure where to start. She was looking around, unsure of what to do when she heard the head girl speak to her. There were a lot of butterflies around some flowers that Cassia was pointing to. It was time to catch some butterflies. "Thanks Cassia," she said, ready to catch some butterflies.

Simon had gotten lost. The boy had followed the shouts and cries of people into an area that reminded him of a lush forest. He stopped, trying to figure out if he was going to the right place as he was surrounded by numerous amounts of magnificent magical plants. Blue eyes gazed around him trying to find where he was. Perhaps there was a sign or something? And then he saw the sign.
Butterfly hunting, hey?
Well that sounded sort of fun. All of a sudden, a kaleidoscope of butterflies flew straight towards him. Oh Merlin, where they going to run straight into him? His blue eyes widened and then his bright green tie was covered with butterflies. Uh, wasn't he supposed to be catching butterflies. Without a net in his hand, he just stood there, waiting for the butterflies to move.

That's it? Mmmmm...might be a bit boring. How hard is it to catch a butterfly?
At that same moment, he overhead the head girl explaining a bit about how magically modified the butterflies were and did spark his a interest a bit more. That sounded a bit more like a challenge.
"S'okay. Let's grab nets before the head girl kicks us out for being inactive." Dec urged his girlfriend, looking for where the nets might be.
She'd heard what the head girl said and now Charlotte wasn't exactly sure if she still wanted to do it. Whyyyyy did they have to be magical butterflies? Some normal muggle type things in life were perfectly okay for her too, y'know! LIKE BUTTERFLIES. Couldn't she just have a magic free day where she could take a net and gently catch butterflies and then release them? And also just have her boyfriend there along with her as well??
NO. Which was why Declan was rushing her to get nets. Not like the head girl was really going to do anything to them anyhow, they'd get to it eventually. Grabbing two nets, which were right in front of them thank you very much, she handed one to Dec and led the way into the dome. She thought maybe if she went first, a butterfly would attack her and then she could just go sit and watch her boyfriend do all of the manly butterfly catching. Her brown eyes soon locked on a sparkly purple butterfly landing near a cluster of chiming bluebells. Nessa crept up on it very quietly and swooped her net upon it.

He sooooo did not know that, and they both knew it. Declan needed glasses and he might have forgotten but she was determined to get him glasses at some point this summer...when he wasn't in Greece. [S]And she had to remember to talk to him about that as well...great.
"I thought you didn't want the head girl to kick your butt or something." Because as tough as he liked to seem, and maybe was, she knew he wasn't really tough at all...the boy was willingly hunting butterflies for goodness sake.
Hearing him say he'd never hurt butterflies really made Charlotte happy though. She never would be able to date someone who would willingly hurt a living thing...except maybe creepy crawlies. 'Cause gross. "You better not! Butterflies are nice...even if they're magical." She tiptoed a bit and kissed his cheek and continued walking.
"But you'll fight them off if we have to right?" She really didn't want to be attacked by butterflies.

Josie smiled as Cassia had told her that her sneaking off to her father's library did in fact count. Although, it did make her feel good that she was good at sneaking about the house, it did make her feel guilty though when she'd get caught because then it was showing that she was disappointing her father & that was something she NEVER liked to do. Despite his very strict rules & odd way of watching her a majority of the day, she knew that he was a good man.

The second year smiled at Donny as she'd offered the option of them hunting them together. She nodded almost immediately before saying softly, "I-It might make it e-easier..together.." Josie continued to smile as he spoke again telling her how it was nice to meet her for real. "I-it's nice to meet you as well...For real.." So far so good, especially since there had been no tripping, right now at least.

Josie sighed as the butterfly had escaped her & her net, feeling a tad confused as to how she was going to do this. But she jumped suddenly when she'd heard yelling once again, whipping her head around to see Donny yelling and running after the butterfly. She covered her mouth a little bit as a smile was trying to form it's way onto her lips. Josie slowly approached Donny & then cleared her throat before saying softly to try & comfort him, "Y-You almost caught it..."

"Hello, Professor Glendower!" Oooh, she wanted to have a competition. That sounded like fun. Lux loved competitions! They were always more than welcome in this Puff's opinion. Not needing to be told twice, she grabbed a net and started on the hunt. A blue butterfly was flying not too far off, but decided to disappear into thin air as she chased after it. "You sneaky little butterfly." This was not going to deter her; she would win a prize.

Apparently those butterflies were really tricky. Donny was obviously doing his best and Cassia almost thought he was going to catch one but then he didn't. Did anyone even catch any so far? Well, she hadn't not seen that but it's gotten crowded and she could have easily missed. Though she expected them to come to her since she was going to be giving the prizes. Speaking of those, her eyes darted to the prizes box. All safe. Awesome.
"Well, you can find a lot of them by the flowers," She answered Donny. So you know the more butterflies there were the more chance he could catch one, right ?
She was almost about to feel guilty for making up the rule about not using magic but nah, it would have been way too easier and not fun then. This is challenging and fun. But then Josie asked a question. "They don't always disappear," she clarified to the younger girl. "But that's why you need to be sneaky and fast," She said.
Perhaps she should catch a couple to show those people how it's done. Like she did try it out when they were setting the whole thing up and she remembered succeeding.

She saw a butterfly soon, and when it flew close, she made a swipe toward it, but it got away within seconds. Oh, well. The butterflies were prettier flying around the place anyway, so if Sophie didn't catch a single one, she wouldn't be bothered.
Straight up ahead, she saw a familiar face, and caught on to the fact that he had a tie full of butterflies. "You know, they do have nets for that kind of thing," she said with a laugh. She held hers out to him. "Try and catch them. They're fast." It almost reminded her of last year, when she played chaser for the house team.

He gave her a relieved grin and chuckled. "Really? I thought the aim of the game was to catch them without the nets?" he teased; however, he knew the game too well. They were supposed to catch them with nets- not with their bare hands. "Thanks," he said as he took the net and then carefully moved his hand rather quickly and caught half of them. The other half flew away. When he caught them, a bright light emitted and then the butterflies disappeared. Now butterfly-free, his blue eyes widened in shock as he wondered where the butterflies had disappeared too.
But he couldn't wonder that anymore because Sophie was here. He held out her net towards her. "Thanks Sophie, I guess I should have grabbed a net before entering here. I must have missed them," he said with a chuckle as he scratched his head briefly. Yeah, he was making a right fool out of himself in front of a fellow housemate. Yep, this was fun. Oh so much fun. "I guess catching butterfiles is like trying to catch multiple snitches. Anyway, how are you?"
Quiet. She was so quiet, it was like the world had stilled when she first saw them. Their fluttering wings, but now being in public was practically giving her hives. It felt like it had been months since she had talked to anyone.
Still, as she stood there glancing past the butterflies and to the people in the area she just sighed. Where was he? Did she want to talk to him? Or did she just want to ignore reality and play a game of catch a fluttering-thing?
Biting her lip she made her way over to the table as she contemplated grabbing a net. Finally reaching down she picked one up, but not before sending Cassia a warm smile. "Hope your having fun" she smiled over to her before disappearing into the throws of butterfly hunting.
Even though it wasn't really hunting...that would be cruel, so cruel to use a bow and an arrow to catch them through their itty bitty butterfly hearts.

Sophie raised her eyebrows as she heard Simon try to coax away the butterflies with offers of sugar cubes. Did butterflies even like sugar cubes? Sophie didn't have time to wonder about that for too long, because Simon turned her way. She shrugged. "I almost didn't grab a net myself. I didn't really want to catch any butterflies, but I was just in here to see what it was all about." She glanced around the area then looked back at Simon. "It does look pretty cool in here."
By the time, he had caught some of the butterflies and missed the other half. "Hmm. Good catch," she said, watching the half that flew away. Not that it was hard for him to catch them anyway. They were on him, after all. She nodded at the snitch comment. "You know, I thought the same thing. This kind of reminds me of when I played on the house team last year." That seemed like forever ago, although, that might be because she hadn't played in a while.
She shrugged again. "I'm alright. Just hanging out and seeing what this thing has to offer." She glanced around then looked back at Simon. "You seen Grayson around?" You know...just...because.
Before heading over to his station, Kaiden had stopped over at the snacks table to snag a drink and something to munch on. After all, he didn't want to be caught eating all the prize gummies. Taking a swig of his sports drink, he saddled up to the station just as things started to get underway. “Hey, Head Girl.” he said giving her a smile and holding out an extra bottle of the sports drink. “Thought you might like one of these.” Stowing his drink out of the way, the Hufflepuff looked around. “Things are looking pretty good so far. I just hope no one falls into one of the ponds.” He glanced around at the kids. If they fell in, he wasn't gonna dry them off. They could do the spell themselves, or walk around wet for being dumb and careless.
Picking up a net, Kaid figured it would be wise to mill about the dome. You know, to make sure kids were hunting monarchs, not housemates. “Is everyone doing alright!” he called out, loudly, causing most of the butterflies in the area to flutter off. It was important though, just to make sure.
While he was out there, walking between the plants and everything else, that’s when he saw her. Man, she was so.... yeah, he just stopped and watched her in wonder. He didn't even realize when one of the magical butterflies landed on his head, he was so mesmerized by beautiful girl who was admiring her surroundings.
