Hope smiled because, even though her answer was a little off, it was still right in her mind. Oh! Now they were to bump into people...be molecules. So she was to be EVERYTHING! Because molecules made up everything. Yes. Mhm. She bumped into a few people but as she was bumping into people, people would bump into her. And she was getting warmer. "Pressure and temperature increase!" That was what she was taking from this because she felt like she was going to be squished and it was getting far too warm for her liking all of a sudden. |
Maddie thought it was sort of silly to allow a bunch of teenagers and ALMOST teenagers to bump into each other. Gosh knew it was just an excuse for the ICKY ones to flirt with the people thye liked and the bully ones to knock someone over. Maddie was NEITHER so she avoided the two groups all together and ONLY bumped those she deemed safe. BUMP for you, Head Girl Cassia! Maddie smiled a little as she did, hoping the Head Girl noted that she was following directions and had caught up to, and bumped her FIRST. Priorities, y'know? She had to remain in good standing with this one. Skateboard boy got a bump TOO. Maddie had decided he wasn't so bad and PLUS Zeus seemed to like him so he was a keeper, she s'posed. HI Ethan. Penelope. Penelope deserved a bump. Maddie's roommate was quite nice and surprising too, giving her little speech to Kyroh, so the small brunette bumped her next. She even got a smile and EVERYTHING. Look how nice Maddie was being! Did DIMA see? SPEAKING of DIMA. The first year decided to bump him a couple of times because allies got extra bumps or SOMETHING. What? It seemed legit. And so she jogged her way around and over to him, bumping gently. "You warm yet?" She was MOSTLY. She still wanted a hot drink, though. Shame there was no hot chocolate in class. |
Bumping Lux, Penelope & Adi Jasmine was not particularly enjoying this bumping business, but she continued to jog around the classroom. She did not want to bump into random people so searched for her friends to bump. Spotting her next target, Jasmine jogged over to Lux and gave her a gentle bump. BUMP. Next, she saw young Penelope and headed in her direction. BUMP. Oh, there was Adi. Jog, jog, jog. BUMP. Annnnnd she was back to jogging. We're they allowed to bump the Professor?, Jasmine wondered...... |
And there was someone bumping into him too! Turning slightly, Adi noticed it was Jasmine. Grinning, he lightly bumped back into her. "Hi, fellow molecule.'' Hehe. Could he bump someone else again? Oh look! There was a first year Ravenclaw (Maddison) not far from him. Adi edged closer to her and...BUMP! Of course it wasn't hard enough to make her fall or anything. |
Psh, of COURSE Marigold had MEANT to run into the wall. She was tooootally in sync with Airey. Pshhhhhhhhh. But she beamed a little at him because COME ON. THIS WAS FUN. (Having fun had nothing to do with the fact that he mentioned her as being on the right page OR the fact it stopped hurting). Eager to continue being a good student, she went and started bumping into people. Adi got a bump. So did Kace, Gray, Toby, Ethan, and Lux. She looked around for Mitch. She would bump him, too. |
bumping against Adi, Marigold ...and running to the Prof with full speed *mellow* Pretending to be molecules and bump against each other while running? Well then , this lesson was officially becoming more cooler. The Gryffindor got super excited but then the Professor had to say the word gently. SERIOUSLY? booo! Kevin looked around while he was jogging and found Adi on the other side of the room, he sped up and after the hufflepuff guy bumped against a ravenclaw, he bumped against him. With a grin, he continued jogging and walked right in to another Hufflepuff (Marigold) he bumped against her as well, almost tripping over his own feet in the process. Where was the Professor though? The second year looked around for his next prey and when he spotted him, the boy grinned before running, not jogging, towards his side with full speed. |
SPOILER!!: Maddie SPOILER!!: Jasmine Penelope was jogging around the room, warm from the jogging, excitement, and happiness. As far as she could tell, the emotion reflecting temperature changes affected only her. With the unusually cold weather everywhere at Hogwarts, someone would have noticed if she was warmer than the other people in the room. The temperature changes that she felt were not something that she could control, and only happened with strong emotions. She wasn't really sure if it affected the air around her, or if it was her body temperature. She looked around for people to bump. Feeling a bump, she turned and saw Maddie. Maddie got a bump and a smile. Spotting Jasmine, she jogged over to her and gave her a gentle bump. The professor deserved a bump. She jogged toward the professor and gave him a bump, not too hard, but not as gentle as her other bumps. |
Bumping people. Now Mitchell knew the Professor was crazy. Because nobody in their right mind would encourage teenagers to collide with each other. It was not normal. Or safe. So Mitchell casually half walked - half jogged his way toward the wall. Nothing to see here folks. Enjoy running into each other elsewhere. |
bumping into someone, anyone can grab if they want :3 The jogging was actually appreciated since it was much easier to keep warm when you were moving than when you were just sitting at a desk. So Penelope was more focused on that than really answering any of the questions right now...until they were given more instructions. Bump into people? "Gently"? Sorta conflicting information. Plus "gently" sorta took the fun out of it. But...she supposed she could try it. Still not gonna try to answer the questions right now though. Everyone else could handle that part just fine. Still jogging, she moved to the side a bit to bump (somewhat gently) into whoever happened to be beside her at the moment. |
This one didn't like being touched by anyone let alone be BUMPED. No, sir! This Hufflepuff would rather be the lone molecule then associate with other molecules. Being that he did need to pass the class though, he'll make an exception and nudge people. Declan walked around in the chaos that was free-bumping students everywhere with his arms retreated protectively close to his chest and nudged, almost really poking, people near him. |
WEEEEEEEEEEE This was way better than the laps around the classroom. Starting to bump into more people he found that he was doing the less bumping and more being the target now.. he felt a light bump and saw that it was Lux. "he he he.. your so silly" he said as then he got hit by Kace!!! "i'll get you back mate" he laughed as he continued twirling while everyone else was giving out answers… because you know he's already given his.. WEEEEEEEE. |
No globophobia, Airey Flamsteed. Assuming that was a phobia related to fear of balloons. And she didn't have that. Actually, she was pretty positive he knew what she feared. Almost certain. Almost. Anyway... ...weather. And jogging. Sure, yoga for DADA and jogging for Astronomy. It should be the other way around if you took into account what each subject teaches. Just so you know. Though, she didn't mind the jogging, really. If only she was wearing proper clothes. So Lotus was listening to Airey's explanation, and everything made sense, except one THING. ONE THING! She stopped jogging. DO NOT, we repeat, DO NOT BUMP INTO HER. NO ONE. BUMP. INTO. HER. NO. WE REFUSE. But we definitely understand the experiment and demonstration, Flamsteed. Brilliant, honestly. ...the one walking. Last name starting with W of both Weather and Walking. And White Walkers. Either way...., "Normally, yes, the air pressure increases if the temperature does as well." Can you feel the temperature rising already? No? Good. That meant no bumps were on the horizon. Keep it that way. |
*is late* *puts on cone of shame* Airey had taken to performing random leaps and clapping loudly over his head every now and again to represent his molecule self bumping into other things. He didn't think it would be proper for him to bump into students as was. He did tower over the majority of the students and Merlin help him if he sent another LEAP CLAP LEAP CLAP LEAP CLAP LEEEEEEEEEAP! Oh right, he needed to have his full attention on his class so he could be at least somewhat prepared for round two of the chorus of responses. How long had they been jogging around the classroom now? He was sure he had jogged past door at least 4 or 5 times by now - and the classroom was rather wide. This was important information you see. SPOILER!!: AIR PRESSURE INCREASES! Aaaaaaaah it was music to his ears, and while all the voices blended together to a certain degree there were a few that stood out. Particularly the voice of Miss Wright since she had shouted her response and drowned out a lot of her classmates. Thumbs up to you, young lady! "PRECISELY!" he applauded. Literally. His arms were above his head clapping as he jogged backwards. "As Miss Somerlad put so concisely, air pressure and temperature are proportional to each other. When one increases, the other increases. When one decreases, so does the other." Fascinating, wasn't it? He certainly found it to be, so hopefully he wasn't alone in all this. "If any of you have ever listened to the muggle weather forecast, you heard them throwing out the terms high pressure system and low pressure system," he continued as he continued to jog backwards. "A low pressure system occurs when air moves away from an area faster than air enters it. When air spreads out, this spreading is called divergence, at high altitudes, air from below flows upward to fill the space, making a low pressure system," he explained complete with dramatic arm movements. "Air piles up, this is called convergence, on the surface and has anti-clockwise rotation here in the Northern Hemisphere." They really just needed a very very basic understanding of this, so no need to panic over the details. "A high pressure systems form a bit differently. Instead of air speeding up, it slows its forward motion down," he said as he quite suddenly slowed his own movement to illustrate. "Convergence occurs high in the sky and once the air has piled up it begins to si -----" Quote:
Mr. Hirase's movements were not only unexpected, but also incredibly ill-timed as he was in the middle of his explanation. Wind knocked out of him, but not physically knocked over because the man had more balance than that. He leaned one hand against the wall and panted to catch his breath before continuing. "....sinks. When this air reaches the Earth’s surface, divergence occurs with clockwise surface rotation," he said, completing his initial thought in a significantly high pitched voice than before and the occasional wheezing. He then looked at the Gryffindor and sighed. "5 points from Gryffindor. And I expect a two inch essay delivered to my office by the end of the week on the word 'gently'." He was serious too, about that essay. Would have been 10, but he gave the boy 5 back for the out of the box way of demonstrating the increase in pressure. Heating up. Speeding up. Crashing into more things. Doing exactly what he had asked in thinking like a molecule. Finally catching his breath, and rubbing his side a bit - Merlin that was gonna leave a bruise - he did a few sprightly high knees to get his blood pumping again before he resumed his jog. "Everyone keep moving, we're almost there." Probably. He had actually forgotten to attach his step counter to his sundial watch after lunch to be sure. Oops. "I would like to back up to something Miss Newell brought up. Miss Newell mentioned volume, which is another one of our ingredients for the weather. To understand how volume is related to air pressure and temperature, we need to understand two laws. Charles's Law explains the relationship between temperature and volume while Boyle's Law explains the relationship between pressure and volume. Please pick one to shout an explanation to." Ready? GO! "OH! You can stop bumping into each other now." He was positive that the point had been made. And sorry, Miss Wisteria, but it was too difficult to hear you due to you being towards the back of the pack because of the WALKING. The astronomer could see her lips moving, and had simply assumed that she had been saying the same answer. OOC: I'm so sorry for the delay T_T *points at World Cup* |
They. Were nearly. There. Which meant that they could stop jogging sometime, yes? GOOD. And thank you for only GENTLY bumping into him, the people who had. He appreciated that. Really. No bruises for him. Though, thank MERLIN that they could stop bumping into people now. It was starting to get a little tiring, especially when mixed in with the jogging. Besides, some people liked to get a little touchy feely and that was NOT something he wanted, thank you very much. Hearing an explanation, the Grayson turned his attention back to Flamsteed. Oh look! Cassia's name had been mentioned, as had Soph's. He felt a surge of pride course through him, one that he was sure had a lot to do with house pride. Uh huh. He would have even shot them a proud smile but, seeing as he didn't know where they were, the smile had to be left for later. As for the question, Grayson decided to opt for Charles's law. Why? Even he didn't know. Maybe it was because, after a couple of seconds of thinking, it wasn't as hard to find a connection between volume and temperature as it was to find a connection between volume and pressure. So, yeah, shouting. "ACCORDING TO CHARLES'S LAW, WHEN THE TEMPERATURE GOES UP, THE VOLUME GOES UP TOO!" Smart, he was. |
Jasmine was getting tired of jogging and she was running out of friends to bump. She really hoped that it would be time to stop soon. Jasmine listened to the Professor's next question and noticed that they were becoming harder each time. At first her mind was totally blank. She knew that she had read about Boyle's Law before, but really had to rack her brain to remember the information. When the light bulb finally went on, Jasmine shouted out her answer. "Boyle's Law says that when the temperature is constant, the pressure and volume have an opposite relationship." At least she thought that was what she remembered. The memory was a bit fuzzy and the complete explanation was complicated. |
Geez more questions while bumping around ahhhhhh and the first person to answer was Grayson!! man was this kid smart, he had no idea what the answer was so while he was bumping----- oh yes! he got to stop bumping people/and running. sweet!!!! trying to listen to peoples answers he tired to make mental notes because he didn't have a quill or parchment with him.. |
And more persons were bumping into him. Grinning, Adi returned the favour to the two- Mari and Kevin. He laughed to himself however, when the second year Gryffindor took off towards Flamsteed. Leave it to Kevin to do something fun and unexpected. Too bad about the points though. Right. So the suited man was speaking again. Adi stopped with the jogging and bumping to think. "Charles's Law says that if temperature were to go up so would the volume,'' the Hufflepuff finally shouted. |
Points taken off for bumping >___< Kevin.... At least he got five points for the dormitory situation... So that could help balance that out? Leave it to Kevin to get every single professor mad at him. But whatever. Gryffindor was in a pretty good spot as of right now. Hopefully Kevin wouldn't cost anymore points this lesson. Hmph. Kev, why WHY!? Anyways, as for the question, Zander had no clue. He was much more comfortable watching others answer. It was what he did best. |
WHOSE law? Caleb had never heard of these things before. As they were jogging, he ran back to his desk and jogged in place, taking out his textbook and flipping through the pages to find one of them, which was a lot harder than it looked. Cause of the jogging in place and stuff. "Charles Law states that the temperature of the air directly affects the volume, so when it gets hotter, the volume gets larger!" he answered. Everyone else was shouting and it was contagious so...he was shouting too. Oops. |
They could stop bumping into each other. Simon beamed. Yay! He'd regain his personal space bubble again. Then he listened to Airey speak about Charles and Boyle's Law. Ooh! Those names sounded very familiar. He remembered his older brother had been trying to explain their properties to him a while ago. Pulling out a mini notebook from his trousers' right pocket, he jotted down some notes about the two laws. With the two laws in mind, he focused on Boyle's law. When the temperature of an ideal gas is fixed, pressure and volume were inversely proportional. Simon shouted more excitedly this time as he tried to match his mate's, Grayson's volume. "According to Boyle's Law, pressure and volume are inversely proportional when temperature is fixed. So basically if volume increases, then pressure must decrease. The reverse is true. If volume decreases, pressure increases." He was pretty sure that was it. SPOILER!!: mini notebook |
Yay Kevin got points docked off from Gryffindor! Leah could not help but cheer up slightly at the professor's words. Heehee They could stop bumping now.. What about jogging? The Hufflepuff groaned and speeded up slightly. Charles's law and Boyle's law? She remembered reading about one of those laws before, but forgot which it was. Worth shouting out anyway. "I think it is Boyle's law, which states that the pressure of a gas decreases as the volume of a gas increases." Leah said out loud. Still.. Jogging.. And panting. |
Haha! Charles Hollingberry. Fair enough! They were stopping now, and she... wait, shout? No, no more shouting, please. The things she did for Astronomy. If this had been any other class, Lotus probably would've been left the classroom oh-so-sneakily and be at peace with all noise. But no, Astronomy was different. She could endure loudness, of course. No big deal. Stopping from all the... walking, she simply spoke... a bit on the loud side, but without SHOUTING LIKE THE OTHERS, the law of volumes,"Charles's law...," she started, "...in which the volume expands as the temperature gets higher." Definitely, that was easy to understand. Same as pressure. And Boyle's law was the opposite. All was well. Except the overall volume of her classmates. |
Haha, this was so much fun! Giggling as she felt people bump into her, Lux made her circuits around the room. Occasionally she hit people, but she always made sure that she did it gently so that no one got hurt or fell over. That would have been very mean and she would have felt like a bad person. Awww, they had to stop bumping now. What a shame. But Professor Flamsteed was explaining more things to them, so it was probably for the best that she wash't distracted by crashing in to people. This kind of made sense to her. Air pressure was tied to temperature; even if she forgot some of the details that much would be easy to remember. Boyle's Law or Charles's Law? What did she know about either one? Biting her lip, Lux tried to remember. This exercise had to be good for her brain, so surely would come to her. She had looked at the textbook before term started, but that was a while ago by now. Focusing really hard, after a moment something came to her. "CHARLE'S LAW STATES THAT AS THE TEMPERATURE INCREASES, THE VOLUME ALSO INCREASES." Hopefully she wasn't being too loud, but she wanted to make sure that the Professor could hear her. |
So he hadn't been able to actually knock the Professor over, which the Gryffindor found dissapointing; he had been able to knock the wind out of him. The boy stumbled to an halt against the wall and a grin formed on his lips. He actually looked PROUD. And Kevin didn't even flinch about the points loss, he was used to it. What made him flinch when it came to points was when he had earned them from Bentley once while cleaning up the boys dormitory with Zander. THAT had been weird. He pushed himself away from the wall and whispered a "worth it" loud enough for only the Professor to hear as he walked passed him. But then he had to say the word essay and Kevin snapped his head towards the man and looked disgusted. "whatever" he pretended he didn't minded it. On to the question. Which was something he had no idea over. Actually, he didn't even know the Laws or whatever they were. He just wanted to bump against people. Booo! So not knowing what to say, Kevin remained silent for now and folded his arms over each other and glared at the Professor for making him write an stupid essay. |
The whole bumping into people thing had gotten kind of violent, thanks to a few select people, and Sophie made sure to stay away from those. Buncha crazies. It got even worse when the face of evil himself, Kevin, slammed into Flamsteed. In what universe did that seem like a good idea to him? Merlin. Soph rolled her eyes at the whole fiasco, unamused by the Gryffindor being himself, and she felt sorry for the professor, but she was glad he was okay. And even more pleased by the kid's punishment. Hehehehe. She was still jogging away, and even though the topic was currently sort of interesting, Sophie didn't have any input to Flamsteed's next search for answers - she was content to entertaining herself with the occasional exaggerated jogging motion and making wiggly eyebrows at Tobes and spying on the people she didn't like who were currently present. There were only three of them there today, so that made it easy to keep tabs on all of them. Heh. |
