THAT was a lot of information to take in, and as much as she tried to listen, it was hard when her ears were trained to hear food clue words. The firstie jotted down some info though. Only time would tell if she would be able to understand her short hand later.

Food. Food was mentioned. Her spidey senses were tingly. "Ohhh, don't they dress up in those big flowery dresses and dance around to music while delicious tacos and burritos are being made?" She was pretty sure that pinatas were involved too. Ohhh... was there going to be a pinata? Her eyes were twinkling at the thought.

Wow, that was a lot of information. O_O

Head reeling from everything that Professor Hadley was telling the class, Lux tried her best to make good and detailed notes. She had no idea how much of this was actually useful, but it was always a good idea to cover your bases.

Annnnnd now they were talking about food. That was more like it. Eagerly raising her hand, Lux said. "Are tacos involved? Because if not, they SHOULD be." She had only had a taco once and it was one of the most amazing things she had ever eaten. Not as amazing as cucumber sandwiches and Chocolate Frogs but it was pretty darn close.

Jasmine took notes as the Professor gave a lot of information about the Battle of Puebla. Trying to keep up, she scribbled furiously in her notebook. Then as expected, a question was asked. Jasmine raised her hand to respond to the question. Thinking back to her days in California, she remembered the many celebrations that took place in her city. "There may be music during a Cinco de Mayo celebration, usually Mariachi bands."

And because of team work, Slytherin won first place in DADA. So basically, it’s a proven theory. Now.

OOOH. Food. Ethan haven’t experienced celebrating this Cinco de Mayo thing, or probably he did already he just wasn’t aware because this boy is easily distracted by food. And yeah, good music. Okay…to answer that question though.

Hand up.

“Burritos?” It’s the only Mexican food he knows. So there.

Turning to Cutty after adjusting her sombrero she shot him a smirk. Whether he was being sarcastic or not Beverly didn't care. She didn't mind his nature. Cutty Mordaunt was Cutty Mordaunt. And she's grown to like that Cutty Mordaunt.

She knew this one. Not only was it food-related, but Kennedy's burned enough food for her to know what he was trying to make. The Slytherin raised her hand.

"There's chips and salsa or guacamole." Which was simply delicious. But also, "I think it's pronounced en-" don't mess up, you know it, Wayne, "en-chi-la-das." There you go! That!

What did they eat? OOOOOH would they get to actually EAT stuff? Domingo was here after all, and she HAD cooked for them before. His stomach started to growl and without giving it much thought, he raised his hand and blurted out the first Mexican food item he could think of.

"Quesadillas?" he suggested. It was an answer to the question and ALSO a hint hint to Hadley and Domingo that if they were cooking, he wanted a quesadilla. Mmmmmm.

Kace smiled and knew what food could be involved with this holiday. His aunt celebrated with them even thought she wasn't spanish. She brought them to a spanish restaurant on this holiday because of her love of Mexican food. Kace raised his hand and said, "Perhaps Guacamole? And I think some people may include drinks like Margaritas and Pina Coladas!" That was somethings. He did like burritos and tacos like his other student's said.

Food?

Simon's ears perked up. He loved food. Not only eating it but also cooking it. His hand shot up with an answer. "As for food, I'd say perhaps they would make Tamales as well?" he asked. Tamales were delicious little packages of spiced meat wrapped up and cooked in a corn husk.. Mhmmmm.. So delicious. He felt his mouth starting to water already. He eyed the kitchen, wondering if they had the ingredients to make all of this food. He assumed that they did. He turned back to the Professor. "Perhaps a piñata is involved?"

...and now Sophie was hungry. Thank you, Hadley. There better be food at the end of this lesson. Food that was not iced over from the cold either. Sophie really didn't know much about the Mexicans and their holidays, but she did know what kinds of food they liked. The problem was that most of the foods had already been listed.

"Do they wear sombreros?" she asked, raising her hand.

Nevermind the fact that some of them wore sombreros all the time, but she imagined they DID wear them on May the fifth, too. Uhh, yeah. She had nothing.

Everyone knows what an 18 year old would do on Cinco De Mayo. That does not have to be said out loud. But food was a different story. Nigel knew some Mexican food, only the basics.

"Tacos and Burritos" Nigel said in a terrible Mexican accent.

Need to have someone do the stereotypical mexican accent and food and Nigel thought why not him. It was fun and it is not like he had much time left for some school fun.

That was ALOT of info there. Adi tried to absorb most of it in his brain but his mind was on one thing- food. Was that why they were in the Kitchen? They were going to make Mexican dishes? Hmmm.

He raised a hand. "Tacos, possibly.'' Total guess there. It was one of the few Mexican foods he knew. "And they most likely wore sombreros.'' That's why some of them were wearing one right now, yes?

Yuuuup, history lesson, one with food. Lex's face used to light up at the mention of food in lessons, until she got older and they started expecting them to MAKE the food on their own. Like who did that?? Alexa spared Benjy a glance at much the same time he looked at her. Of course there was some nose wrinlking. What was this lesson even?

With all the questions being asked and the history being passed on, she kinda had a question of her own.

Forgive her for this not being on track but...."We're not gonna be making the foor ourselves...right Professors?" Innocent enough question but she had to know. This was crucial. Outside of that, don't worry she was paying full attention.

Honest.

Woah. that was a whole lot to take in. The Gryffindor tried to take lots of notes at first but at some point he got lost. Way lost. So instead he just opted to listen. Hopefully the homwork wouldn't involve any of this intense knowledge. Then hearing the question, the Gryffindor had to sit and think about it a bit... "Do they eat Fajitas?..." That was a food right? He would've gone for the tacos, but everyone else had already suggested those.

Leah listened to Professor Hadley's explanation, only taking in a couple of information. The Mexicans should have been really happy.

Now were they talking about food? No? Oh okay. About the celebration. Leah raised her hand and said, "It is not a federal holiday, so stores remain open." she thought some more and said, "I guess there will be activities like parades?" She used to love parades when she was small, but nowadays she had got bored of those.

Angel looked at the Professor and raised her hand, she wasn't really into the Mexican culture and she actually didn't know much about it. "They eat a nice feast like they did when they first won the battle?" Angel had heard stories about how after the king had gone with the army and won a battle they had... had this big celebration dinner.

Anyone who said that taking Muggle Studies was easy if you'd grown up muggle really was mistaken. Toby didn't know what the heck was going on, though admittedly that was probably related to the fact that as soon as the history stuff had started his brain sort of tuned out. Problem with BOTH of these classes was that they involved a lot of talking and stuff, which gave him ample opportunity to totally get distracted.

But that didn't stop him trying. He couldn't just give up on trying in classes this close to the end of the year. Even though he didn't have an answer, Toby sat and listened and made a lot of notes and tried to look agreeable while he waited to see if there would be a practical activity. He was all fidgety and bouncy already, eager to do something other than sit there.

And now he was thinking about food. Oh man, food would be good right n-

NO. Focus, Toby. C'mon, keep focused. We're in the kitchens. There'll probably be food LATER.

Vaguely, as Toby brought his focus back to the lesson, he wondered whether the date of the Battle of Puebla would be where the Arithmancy came in. That would make sense, right?

"Some customs, yes," Hadley agreed.

"Tacos are one item that could be, yes."

"Definitely music. Wouldn't be a festival without music."

"Yes, burritos."

"Ah excellent. Yes, enchiladas are also commonly served. As are chips and salsa and guacamole."

"Yes, quesadillas are another type of cuisine common."

"Yes exactly."

"Sometimes, yes a piñata might be involved." That would be Miss Cambridge's dream come true if they had one here.

"Yes I'd say so," Hadley agreed.

"Yes," Hadley nodded when Nigel mentioned food types again.

Hadley nodded at Adi's given answers when he said the same thing.

That question though. "Well, of course you'll be making the food yourself. I'm not a house elf. But don't worry, its not as complicated as pizza and the ingredients are all prepared." Really, Lex, who was she if she just handed them ready-made food?

"Sometimes, yes." if they didn't take so darn long, then she'd probably have had them make that today.

"In Mexico although it is not a national holiday, it is a holiday in the State of Puebla." She explained. "All public schools are closed though nationwide in Mexico, for the holiday, and there's no work in the neighboring state. But yes, there are activities like parades too."

"Traditionally, yes." It was, in a sense like Hogwarts traditions. Feasts at start of term and end of term. Feasts at holidays. Feasts, feasts, feasts.

"Outside of Latin America, celebrations occur all over, emphasizing as many of you stated, Mexican cuisine, culture and music." Hadley continued with her lecturing portion. "Cuisine could be, but is not limited to tacos, quesadillas, burritos, and fajitas. British Columbia, Canada holds a skydiving event for the holiday. The Cayman Islands, in the Caribbean, holds an air guitar competition. So basically there's festivals throughout the world; from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, to here in London, to New Zealand."

"Before we enjoy some Mexican Cuisine, Professor Domingo will require your undivided attention as we delve into some numerical significance of the holiday."

Before we enjoy mexican cuisine... those were the words that Hadley spoke which meant that food was happening. First, they had to listen to more stuff. Ugh! Unfortunately the subject was Arithmancy, and AJ didn't like doing that on a good day. It was going to be super hard to pay attention to that.

Tacos, burritos, and quesadillas, oh my. She daydreamed about all of the food possibilites and wondered what they would end up making. She looked at Lolita and waited for her part of the lesson. Hurrrrry, this lion was hungry.

Mexican cuisine. Food! Awesome! But first they had to get through the Arithmancy stuff. Okay, Professor Domingo. The floor was yours. Adi waited for the lady to start explaining stuff he was sure to get lost in. But he'd try to let that not happen.

Okay, Arithmancy stuff. This was set to be the tough part; it involved all the thinking and concentrating and stuff but Toby coULD Do ThiS. He finished writing the last of that particular set of notes and turned to Professor Domingo for the next part.

His focusing game was totally on point right now.

So much note taking in this class, always. Even though they were in the kitchen. Just so many notes. Thankfully they hadn't gotten to the actual cooking or whatever. Didn't need to risk any stains all over his notes. No, thanks. Not again.

But anyways, he finished scribbling the last of his notes, then looked over at Professor Domingo for the next set of notes to scribble. Man. His wrist was really killing him, Professors. Maybe it'd be best to do the practical portion now and... sort of... skip over the long, complicated... super boring... arithmancy bit? ....Yes?

...tacos were a part of the cuisine?

Would they be making TACOS today???

Except that Arithmancy stuff was coming next. Meh. But Penelope was willing to deal with it if she got to spend the rest of the lesson making tacos. And whatever else too. But mostly tacos.

Than it totally could be Taco Tuesday. Nothing went with burittios so lets just forget about those for a minute. Nigel was only joking in his answer and was pleasant shocked when he was right.

Awesome.

He would pay slight attention to the Arithmancy part since he liked Doflamingo.

Not as complicated as pizza and the ingredients were already well prepared. Okay. She supposed that didn't sound so bad then. No. Not really. Unless you counted the fact that Lex didn't even make her own sandwiches unless she absolutely had to. All food preparation was either tedious or difficult. In some cases it was both.

The Gryffindor gave a small nod before her eyes drifted over to Professor Domingo. After history they were STILL gonna be tortured with numbers?? She thought they were like....switching one out for the other today. What even?

Alright, fine, attention, the Professor had it. Lex would at least TRY looking like she was taking it all in.

Hazel scribbled down some notes as the professor spoke, leaving ink on her fingers. She wiped it off on her robe. It was black anyway, so no one would notice.

She looked over at Professor Domingo and prepared her quill. Why were there numbers in this anyway? Shouldn't they just be eating burritos while wearing sombreros?

She put down her quill and shook out her hand. Okay, now she was ready.
