Ooh, so she got them right! She smiled proudly. Hazel stood up and wrapped her arms around her body. She felt it get a bit warmer, but it was still colder than she liked it. The Hufflepuff walked around the class and read the notes off the board again. Maybe the coldness would help her remember this, so whenever she had to do the reduction method she would remember shivering. she shoved her hands into her pockets. Somehow she felt like it was colder walking around, but she didn't sit down. Not yet, at least. |
The lesson will close in approximately 24 hours Lolita clapped her hands. "¡Vamos! Ready to move on, estudiantes." She gave them all several seconds to get back to their seats. "We have time for one more short thing." Yet again the board erased itself and the chalk scribbled at the coaxing of the professor's wand. Quote:
Looking over the students, she saw that the majority of them were still shivering. Productivity would be hard to come by for the last task. Something had to be done. After several complicated wand movements, a strange popping noise announced the arrival of aid. "Since it is so frigid, I conjured mugs and hot cocoa up here in front. Help yourselves while you work." And don't ever say Lolita Carmen Inocencia Domingo never did anything nice for children. |
Numbersssssss were going to be the death of Sophie! She stared at the board at the new set of numbers. She felt like face-planting on her desktop, but she was sitting by Grayson, and face-planting just didn't look cool in front of your crush. So she mental face-plant, sighed softly, then got to writing. 1945 1 + 9 + 4 + 5 = 19 1 + 9 = 10 1 + 0 = 1 31 July 1980 3 + 1 + 7 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 0 = 29 2 + 9 = 11 24 June 1995 2 + 4 + 6 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 5 = 36 3 + 6 = 9 "I added up the numbers," she said to Grayson, passing him the parchment. Grinning, she glanced up to the front of the room where the hot cocoa was. "Now I could really use a mug of that hot cocoa." HINT, Grayson! This is your TEST. Heh. |
new activity- post 1 Then they were given a new set of numbers! Simon carefully wrote them down as he listened to Professor Domingo explain that they would first solve them using the Reduction method and then they would look up the meanings of the numbers in the textbook. Alright. First he was going to use the reduction method. He was baffled by the date ones but he gave his best effort in trying to solve them. SPOILER!!: notebook He opened his textbook and began turning the pages to find the section that they had just been on. Now what did these numbers mean? Hmmmm? |
Post 1 The Professor called for everyone's attention and announced the final task for the class. Jasmine looked at the dates written on the board and copied them into her notebook. It was time to do a little reduction and she had to make sure that she was completely focused this time. Concentrating as hard as she could, Jasmine got to work. SPOILER!!: Jasmine's answers After Jasmine reduced he numbers. She looked in her text book for the meaning of each of the numbers. Taking her quill, she jotted down the number meanings in her notebook. SPOILER!!: Number meanings Now all Jasmine had to do was connect the dots. She would find the significance of the dates and compare that with the number meanings. Maybe a cup of hot chocolate would help her maintain her focus for the final part of the task. Well it definitely wouldn't hurt. |
post 2 Simon started to read the definitions of the numbers; however, his eyes widened when he realized that he had made a mistake. Oh how silly of him! He quickly fixed it and then went back to his work. SPOILER!!: notebook Now with the definitions, he had to start beginning about how this all fit into Wizarding history. He scratched his head as he tried to think of something. When nothing came to mind, he decided to take a break to go grab a delicious mug of hot cocoa in the front of the classroom. Picking up a mug, he grinned. "Thanks Professor!" he said with a grin. Arithmancy class was getting a lot better already. He made his way back to his text and tried to think about what these numbers meant in and how that definition was applied to an important time in Wizarding history. |
Ethan did a little bit of stretching on his seat, and decided to remain focused. He was sure he’ll get distracted if he stood up and walked around the classroom. Besides…if he gets to solve the next problem faster, then maybe he’ll get to go back to their dorms. Warm dorms. Oh and look! Next problem! Bring it on! Ethan got a parchment, wrote down the problem, and started to compute. One by one, he wrote down the meaning for each number, and explained what he thinks about it. SPOILER!!: Ethan’s Parchment Well…that looks, right, yeah? Ethan sighed and stood up, with difficulty, and walked towards the mugs of hot cocoa. MERLIN. He can barely feel his fingers now. "Thanks for this, ma'am." As soon as he got a mug, he quickly returned to his seat, wrapped his fingers around the mug. WARMTH. Yes. |
post 3 It was time to get back to looking at those numbers. Staring at the numbers on his page, he tried to wrack his brains to remember something that he'd learnt about this time period. SPOILER!!: He took a sip of his hot cocoa and felt himself warm up slowly. He grinned. Ah, much better. Then he went over his answers to see if they made any sense. |
Lucy followed the instructions of the professor and started to convert all the dates: 1945 1 + 9 + 4 + 5 = 19 1 + 9 = 10 31 July 1980 3 + 1 + 7 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 0 = 29 2 + 9 = 11 24 June 1995 2 + 4 + 6 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 5 = 36 3 + 6 = 9 31 july 1980: she was sure that was the birthday of Harry Potter.. She took her textbook to find the others dates.. |
Angel smiled as she went and got a mug of hot coco. "Thanks Professor." Angel then went back and sat down at her desk, she was glad her hands were feeling warmer, she then took a sip before continuing. SPOILER!!: Angel's work Angel looked at her work, well that sounded about right but she wanted to double check them so whilst taking a sip of cocoa, she checked the numbers and smiled as they were right. Angel then put the mug down and went back to her text book it was time to do this. SPOILER!!: work part 2 Angel looked at her work and then smiled, she wasn't sure what the Professor would think but she was glad she had at least tried with this work today, she just hoped the Professor would like it. |
After getting her cup of hot chocolate, Jasmine returned to her seat and began to finish her assignment. Thinking about it for a moment, she then picked up her quill again and began to write. SPOILER!!: Jasmine's answers Putting down her quill, Jasmine decided that she had written all that she could think of at the moment. She leaned back in her chair and took another sip of her hot chocolate. She would have to see whether or not she was on target with her answers. |
After Professor Domingo had established he had done the reductions correctly, Adi sat there waiting patiently for the class to continue. He was thinking that Arithmancy wasn't so bad. It was definitely the way Domingo was teaching that made it better. He couldn't say the same for Professor French. He vaguely wondered what became of the crazy man. Right. They were moving on. Adi paid attention to what the Spanish lady was saying. Moore reduction and stuff. Cool! And hot cocoa. A relieved Adi collected a mug for himself. "Thanks for this, Professor.'' He headed back to his seat. It was time to get to work! SPOILER!!: Adi's Work And he was done! Adi took a sip of his cocoa as he waited for Professor Domingot o inspect his work. |
Lucy took a mug of hot chocolate then completed her work She grabbed her quill and she writed:" Quote:

Ahem...a little help Prof? Or anyone really ^^ Aww sitting already? She would have been disappointed were it not for the fact the Professor said they were down to the last of their activities. That made everything sorta okay you know? And....and the hot cocoa, that helped LOADS so before heading back to her seat Lex went and got herself a cup to tide her over til she was done. Could she have another for completing the work when she was finished? You know, kinda like a reward for actually getting the work done? She'd have to ask once she was done. For now, she flopped back into her seat and took off the dates so she could get to work. SPOILER!!: Parchment Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip. Ah, done--hang on she needed to know a bunch of stuff about these dates didn't she? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Good one  Despite the boisterous laughter going on in her head she managed to keep a somewhat even expression. This was hilarious. Her two most hated subjects brought into one room. Now she saw the need for the hot chocolate, give her something to fall back on when she realized how doomed she was. Haha, knowing what these dates actually were. Fuuuuunny. "Er.......what if you don't know what happened during these dates and thus can't link them.................?" It was a legit question. Nobody laugh. |
Was Ethan........... blinking at him? Blinking? Why? Eh. Whatever. Blinks for you too, Ethan Mordaunt. 'Sup! Text Cut: Sophie+Domingo It would be kind of fun to have one over him? Grayson snorted. For HER, yeah. She already held the top points earner title over him, this would just make it worse. And he would have responded but............ .............. Domingo. Oh? OH? 'She improves you.' SMIRK. Wasn't that an interesting thought. Funnily enough, there was only a tiny part of him that didn't want to think that he needed anybody to improve him. Only a tiny part. For the most, this was.............. well, interesting. In a good way. Unlikely pairings, HELLO. Blue eyes stole a glance over at Sophie before he said, "I'll make sure to remember that. Thanks, Professor." Uh huh. Interesting. Text Cut: Sophie again! And they were moving on. AND, Soph had already gone off ahead. Jeez, this girl was on a ROLL. Grayson leaned closer just a little to see her calculations and to get a head start on figuring out what could be linked to those dates. Did he know? LOL. No. But he didn't want to come across as dumb to the girl sitting next to him. The girl who............ ............... was finished and wanted hot cocoa. SNORT. "Talk about subtle," he said, playfully rolling his eyes at her before getting up and heading towards the front of the classroom. Hot cocoa was PERFECT in this weather. Uh huh. Kudos to you, Domingo. Grayson poured out two mugs of the frothy, chocolatey deliciousness before smiling over at the Arithmancy Professor. "Thanks for this, Professor." Free food -- or drinks in this case -- was always a plus. Andddddd he went back to his seat, holding the two mugs of hot chocolate in his hands. "For you, Miss Subtle," he said, placing Sophie's mug down in front of her. The fourth year then placed his own mug own, grabbed the parchment and started scribbling in some random junk. Text Cut: Calculations+meanings "What do you think?" He slid the parchment over towards her. Tell him how brilliant it was. Go on. He was just going to sit here and take a sip of his hot chocolate. Mmmmmm! |
Text Cut: hermionesclone Sophie grinned at the subtle comment. "When, since I met you, have you ever known me to be subtle?" she asked. First the Valentine's card, now the hot chocolate. Sophie had never really been THIS bold, but there was just something about turning fourteen that had caused her to suddenly change. She watched as Grayson went to the front of the room and prepared not one, but two, cups of hot chocolate. Then he brought one back to her. "Thank you," she said. Test = PASSED. Then he got straight to work. Sophie just sipped on her hot chocolate while Grayson worked on his part of the assignment. See. They were just working so wonderfully together. She did one part, then he did the next. She glanced at the parchment once he'd passed it to her. She was quiet as she read it over. "Wow," she said. "I'm impressed. You even figured out the significance of them all. Nice work, Grayson." On BOTH parts--figuring out the Arithmancy AND getting her some hot chocolate. Text Cut: Sophie and Grayson's work |
OOC: Sorry for the tardiness. I lost electricity yesterday. This will be a short reply, since I'm paying for an internet cafe. SPOILER!!: All of you The Latina acknowledged each student's gratitude with a nod of her head. Some of their manners had improved since the last lesson. Well, most of them had done quite well. The calculations were not difficult, but pairing them with the meanings was harder. "Bueno, estudiantes. Most of you have calculated and interpreted correctly." Assuming they knew the dates, unlike certain Prefects. "If you did not know those three important dates, I suggest paying better attention in History of Magic from here on out." Smirk. "The answers were, in order, one, eleven, and nine. The first date is the year the wizard Grindelwald was defeated, the second is of course Harry Potter's date of birth and Voldemort's first disappearance, and the third is Voldemort's rebirth." She did not have qualms over saying the name. "With that our time has now drawn to a close. Homework will be posted shortly." |
Lucy picked up her bag..she smiled at her Professor and she said:" Great lesson, Professor, thanks a lot! See you later" |
They were done already? Adi was enjoying this lesson so much that he didn't want it to end. Ah well. He stuffed his belongings back into his back, downed the last of his hot cocoa before Scourgifying the cup and replacing it where had gotten it from. "Bye, Professor. See you around.'' With a small wave, the Hufflepuff left the class. |
Huh? Done? Ethan blinked at the professor then to his almost empty mug. Well at least he was productive albeit the cold, yeah? That brought a little grin on his face as he cleaned his mug, stood up, and placed it back on the table where he got it. "See you around then, professor. Thanks for the lesson." he said as he passed by her. The Slythern collected all of his things and stuffed it inside his satchel in a hurry. Merlin, the temperature felt suffocating already to be honest, and so, without another word, the third year snake headed towards the door and off he went to their dorms down below. Brrr. Cold! |
Paying better attention in History of Magic class? Pffffffft. Right and she supposed next she'd be saying they shouldn't fall asleep and should actually be taking notes while they're at it, yeah? That'd be the day. The Gryffindor would have attempted the rest of the answer now that the Professor had oh so kindly given it to her but then they were dismissed and the lion was never one to stay in an Arithmancy class longer than need be so...Lex casually folded her parchment and tucked it into the side of her bag. No one needed to know she wasn't finished. Lex would simply finish her hot chocolate and leave, which was exactly what she did. "See you Professor." She was so out of here. |
What? The class was over already? But she was having fun! Hazel picked up her notes and closed her textbook. "Thanks, Professor!" she said on her way out the door. Brrr... She'd forgotten how cold it was. |
Lolita nodded to the students as they said their farewells. Once the last one had left the classroom, she Banished the dishes to the kitchens. The elves could deal with them. She couldn't be bothered to do so; one good deed was enough for the day. Now back to her office to mark papers. |
