Penelope entered the rune classroom, wearing several layers of clothing, with additional warmth from the hot air charm. Even with all of this, it was still cold, but not as bad as it would be without the layers and hot air charm. She found her seat and took out her textbook, quills, and parchment.

Yep, still bundled up, just like everyone else. Though Layla wasn't at all phased by the quiet. It was taking enough of her energy just trying not to shiver, she didn't have any to spare on greetings. So, the 'stay quiet' instruction was much welcome. She quickly looked for the desk bearing her name tag and scurried to it, almost throwing herself in the seat.

Weasley174 07-18-2014 08:25 AM

Angel felt really cold at the minute, she just wished there was something she could do to get a bit warmer but at the minute things just were very cold and she had a feeling it was to do with all the snow out front.

Angel was starting to wish that the snow would go, it was the wrong time of year for them to have this much but well it was seemingly there to stay, she just wished this castle had central heating but she knew castles didn't have them.

She looked at the board and saw the Quiet sign on it, so she quickly looked for the desk bearing her name tag and walked to it before sitting down in the seat. She wanted this lesson over and done with so she could go back to her warm bed.

West sat at his labelled desk in utter silence, eyes on his favourite professor. It was a good thing, he reckoned, that that whole old age business hadn't coincided with this freezing school business.

Old people died in extreme temperatures.

... Botros wouldn't though, West would make sure of it. Subtly he directed his wand at the professor, or rather at the old man's outer cardigan layer, and silently directed the same warming charm he had on his own clothes that way. Just a bit of extra insulation. He slipped his wand away and settled back in his chair, waiting for the lesson to begin.

Ascanius was hesitant to return to Ancient Runes. He was, after all, lit on fire one of the last classes. That wasn't something he was going to forget.

But since it was so cold out and there was nothing really to do in the castle, y'know, save sit 'round and try to find warm, he figured why not? He only had so much time left at this school anyway. Might as well try to look interested.

In his own way.

Which mean showing up and doing the minimum amount of effort.

He slid into his seat near the door and waited.

Magical Soul 07-18-2014 06:27 PM

hiiiii everyone <3

Botros was deeply focused on his book, he only flipped the pages twice in half an hour while he waited for his students. That was until someone walked in and broke the 'stay quiet' request etched on the blackboard behind him...

"Hey, Professor. I hope we're going to be moving around today. I'd hate to have to wander around picking up people's fingers and toes." Because of frostbite reasons.

It was Marco. Ab smiled at the Ravenclaw, knowing the boy was generally chatty and perky, he couldn't help it. "No, we're not moving outside today." He chuckled at the joke. Good one.

WOHOO! Ancient Runes class time was finally here. He loved the teacher and this class was interesting to learn. As he entered the classroom he wondered why it was so cold? It seemed like every classroom he encountered was freezing. He cuddled into his robes and even move his hands to keep his hands warm. He breathed on them too. He saw his name tag on the table and smiled and took his seat.

He saw the professor in the front of the room and talked to Bostros and said, "Hello Professor I hope you are handling this cold weather well.."

This seemed to encourage more kids to interrupt his reading. Botros didn't mind, though. "Hello to you too. I'm doing alright, thank you for asking."

He didn't even recognise that he was doing it anymore.

Aaah Tempus the class' yo-yo would never pass quietly either, Botors smiled at his Hufflepuff friend. "Greetings, Tobias."

You know what else was weird? Walking in to an Acient Runes class without the Professor at the door to greet them...and the sign saying sit in silence. What was this day? "G'morning Professor." She said a bit hesitantly. Did that count as not being quiet? She wasn't trying to be rude or anything. Lex gave a small nod before taking her seat. This was hers. The name plate said so.

"Good morning, dear." Ab replied to Cambridge, closing his book gently and standing up to close the door behind her. No more students, they were starting this lesson already.

... did it just get so warm so suddenly for everyone else too? The professor was momentarily confused but figured those runes he etched on the walls were still effective. Okay then! Time to start.

Standing in front of everyone, Ab cleared his throat and began, "Good morning everyone, I apologize for the cold classroom, we're doing our best to maintain this... situation." He gave them a brief smile, then clapped his hands once. "Anyway. Today's lesson is going to be about the one rune that's generally considered the opposite of Kenaz." He paused and went to draw a single vertical line on the blackboard. "Isa. What do you know about that rune, raise your hand and share anything you know about it." He waited, leaning on his cane.
ooc: - class will continue in about 24 hrs.
- please give one information about the rune and try to avoid repetition, creative answers are very much welcome.

Anna Banana 07-18-2014 06:33 PM

Ohh, Isa. Just the thought of the rune itself made Sophie feel even colder than she already did. Hopefully they'd be talking about how to reverse the cold instead of making it stronger. That's what runes usually did, after all--makes things stronger. Or, at least, it seemed to be that way.

Anyway...

She raised her hand. "Isa can represent a challenge in your life," she said. Like, the challenge of enduring this horrible, harsh weather. BOO. It also represented ice, but she chose not to mention anything related to the cold.

ArianaBlack 07-18-2014 06:45 PM

..... So they were talking now? Okay. This was confusing. Either way Botros' apology for the cold did not make any difference because his apology couldn't fix anything, could it?! Besides, why was he apologizing anyways. It was basically cold EVERYWHERE and no one was apologizing about it. Except for this guy. But eh, it didn't make much sense to the Gryffindor.

As for the question, opposite of Kenaz? If Kenaz was the one they used with the fire then did that mean they'd use Isa for ice or something? "Isn't Isa supposed to be real cold?" Which was mostly a way of hinting at uh, why the heck were they focusing on a COLD RUNE when it was negative five million degrees outside?!!

WhittyBitty 07-18-2014 06:52 PM

So they were going to learn about Isa today. Not all that surprising to Lux seeing as Hogwarts was turning into one huge ice cube before their very eyes. Using Ventus to warm herself up, she raised her opposite hand before mentioning something about the Rune. "Isa is ice. And emotionally it means cooling affections."

Emotions. That was what Lux was all about lately. If only he was better now or she could at least know how he was doing.

Team ronmione 07-18-2014 07:08 PM

Yes, yes. Good morning to you too, Botros.

Tag watched the elderly man, yes, he was an elder, and listened to the words he had to say. And what he had to say about the weather, was it? This was Hogwarts doing their 'best'? It was snowing inside. The blonde didn't want to know how the castle would be at its worst if snowing inside is the best.

But anyway, Tag thought he could give his own answer and keep his comment to himself. "Isa is connected to ice. It also means that this rune can stop a process from happening." That was Tag's answer. He sat quietly, awaiting to hear what everyone else had to say.

hermionesclone 07-18-2014 07:09 PM

Oh HEY! They were talking about ISA. Did he know this rune? Yes, he did. Mentioned it and all during their previous lesson. Meaning that he DID know a thing or two about this rune. Some of the others? Not really. There were TWENTY FOUR in there. And they all had quite a few meanings linked to them. Just thinking about having to memorise them all was giving him a headache.

ANYWAYS. Up went the hand in the air once he had formed a proper answer in his head. "When this rune shows up in a reading and whatnot, apparently you're meant to stop and think and not just go headfirst into a situation without using those brains of yours. Know your facts." Some people could do well to remember this. Jeez.

"Basically, don't act like an idiot."

Wise words from Whitty.

Watson 07-18-2014 07:19 PM

Simon shared a smile with Ethan as his mate took the desk right next to him. Befoer he could say anything, class had begun. So today they would be learning about the rune, Isa. Hmmm... What did he know about it? Well it was the opposite of Kenaz. He smirked at Grayson's comment about not acting like an idiot. He nodded his head in agreement with his fellow house mate. Merlin. Those were extremely wise words to consider. Besides, Isa was very cold.

Simon raised his hand to offer what he knew about it. Well Isa couldn't be inverted- he continued to wrack his brains for some other fact. "I believe that Isa is the rune of concentration and or stillness?" he offered. He believed that was what he read in the textbook. It made sense to him because Isa had ice in it and ice was frozen and didn't move.

DaniDiNardo 07-18-2014 07:36 PM

There was SO much that could be said about the rune Isa, like legit. There was a whole section in the text about that rune and people would be having opinions on it now given the recent, unyielding weather they had outside. If she didn't know any better she'd think that was all someone had carved into the runes around this place but surely someone would have noticed that happening and when's the last time they had a bad guy anyway?

Lex pulled her robes tighter around her, contemplating the option of offering an answer at all. Everyone else already said the basics, yeah? But then she remember the last time she'd given the Professor that as an excuse and he asked if she'd like him to give points to everyone but her so....lazily she raised her hand.

What did she know about the rune?

"It's the last thing any of us need right now on account of the already sub-zero temperature we've got going on." See how she just linked it to the cold without outright saying it?

Creativity in the midst of a storm. The Professor was so welcome.

Stefan 07-18-2014 07:52 PM

*ahem* WhitWell...GrayPhie. Yup. XD

If Grayson wasn’t Ethan’s dorm mate, he’d have thought that the older kid’s gone seriously grumpy and bitter. But then again, what he said made sense. Well, everything that the others said made sense, and the third year boy thought that there was no point recycling an answer from what was given already. So Ethan sat there, and thought of other properties that the rune Isa may hold.

Wait. Something was forming inside his brain.

Oh joy. Hand up! “If the Isa represents challenges, just like what she said,” Ethan gestured to his fellow Slytherin, Sophie Newell, “…and is a time to stop and think things over, like what Grayson said, could it also mean that Isa represents patience?” Instead of giving an answer, Ethan gave out a theory. Hopefully, Botros won’t mind. Besides, it makes perfect sense. Why else would you stop and wait for the rainbow to come out yeah?

But patience? Right now? With that kind of weather? Yeah right.

FearlessLeader19 07-18-2014 08:08 PM

Adi had just acknowledged some of his friends' presence which included Benny and Zander when old man Botros stood up. Awesome! The lesson was about to begin. Adi listened with interest. Isa. Cool. While the others started speaking up, he racked his brain for information on the rune.

Oh yeah! He knew something. "It has a freezing effect on the other runes around it,'' Adi said, hand int he air.

Chiara 07-18-2014 08:22 PM

Isa...
Lucy listened the answers of her classmates..
Then she thought:"that rune has a sound that remember the ice.."
She raised her wand and she said:"Whit this cold ours emotions are freezing..perhaps Isa means the peace of senses and of emotions.."

Daydreamer11 07-18-2014 09:43 PM

The Professor indicated that it was time for class to begin. Jasmine would try to pay very close attention to everything he said. Ancient Runes was definitely not her best subject, but it was one in which she hoped to improve. Only time would tell.

Right off the bat, Professor Botros started with a question. Jasmine raised her hand to respond, hoping that her answer was somewhere in the ballpark. "I think that Isa also has something to do with your perception of yourself or ego." Then she waited to see whether or not she was correct.

Cassirin 07-19-2014 12:43 AM

It was cold, and Ab-Bot's ears weren't working. Mo hadn't suggested they go outside. He hadn't told a joke. He'd been asking permission to run in place. Jump. Breakdance. Anything that was MOVING and WARM in class, really.

Instead, he was frozen to his seat. Brrrr.

Mo raised his hand, wiggling his fingers and waving it around for blood flow. "Isa... I think it can be used to bolster other runes, right?"

oh its Erik ok 07-19-2014 12:51 AM

So this lesson they would be learning about Isa and Nigel can tell himself really bad ice puns. Or Cold ones. Nigel did not discriminate against puns. If that was possible. Though Isa puns were also there. Just took a little more effort.

Also the possibility was there for Dima to enter the class and freeze Scan's pants. The odds were really against it. But anything is possible.

"Isa a ice rune"

He would have better ones as the class continued. But not bad for a pun on the spot, Nigel thought so.

Deezerz 07-19-2014 03:18 AM

Isa...Isa was all that was outside right now. That's the first thing that popped into Beverly's head at the mention of that rune. Shivering slightly, she tugged her robes, and all of the other layers she had under it, closer around herself.

Ugh. Raising her hand was a pain in the behind. It required moving a warm appendage away from her body. "Isa the rune of freezing. Ice. Cold. No change. Much like Hogwarts grounds right now." Sad. And frustrating.

lazykitty 07-19-2014 04:57 AM

BRAIN FREEZE!!!!!

That had to be what was happening to her right now, because she couldn't think of a single thing about the rune. Though, from what her classmates were saying, she definitely agreed that it was the last thing they needed right now. A rune to make it even colder? No thanks. But instead of saying this out loud, Layla was jotting down notes. Because this was definitely going to be important later.

TeafortheSoul 07-19-2014 06:56 AM

Satisfied that his spell worked, West smiled slightly to himself as the class began and settled back to listen to what the topic would be... Isa. Alrighty. He didn't answer right away, let his classmates jump in with the usual things though he nodded in agreement when that Grayson kid said stuff, and also Mo mentioned the bolstering effect it had. He put his hand up. "If you have anger problems, Isa is a good rune to help with controlling that sort of fiery emotional outburst."

SlytherinSistah 07-19-2014 06:59 AM

Cutty's neutral mood had been interrupted by the realization that Stark was in fact present. Without realizing it, the smaller Slyth began to hold his breath and fidget with one of his feet. Nothing was likely to happen. But what if it did?

Isa. Professor Botros was asking them about Isa. It meant Ice and a gathering of other illogical attachments. Cutty was sorting out which of these he thought Botros would most want to hear when the Ravenclaw prefect happened.

The clutchling showed no shame in laughing audibly at the remark. No sense of social propriety. No sense of it 'tall.

nanyjj 07-19-2014 08:47 AM

Isa, ice. Pretty much the same thing.

That was what Leah was going to say. But people started saying facts out loud and she missed her chance. Hey, let the younger kids say the easy ones, okay? The Hufflepuff sighed and peeked at her open textbook. Isa, right there.

She raised her hand and said, "It.. represents primal form." Hmm.. what does that mean?

Weasley174 07-19-2014 08:54 AM

Angel looked at the Professor and raised her hand. "Professor doesn't it have something to do with your original form?" Angel wasn't sure but well she would have a guess anyway.
