Ancient Runes Lesson I
 

“GOOOOD EVENING, Professor Botros! I’m EthanTylerMordaunt. Hogwarts’ Minstrel at your service…in case you forgot.” He said as he arrived at the Entrance of the castle. Uhh…why are they here anyway and not in a classroom, where it is warmer? “...also, I forgot to ask sir. Can I still walk Feo after the winter break? I didn’t get the chance to do it earlier because…” he trailed off as he pointed at the open double doors. “Early winter and stuff.” He’s in a great mood, all right? And why wouldn’t he be? This man’s got a crup, and that he could actually borrow his pet and take him for a walk, so he definitely should be on his good side, yeah?

Ethan sidled towards the wall and leaned his back on it as they waited for the rest to arrive. He didn’t want to sit down, though. Standing was so much better because he’ll be able to have movement to keep him warm. The Slytherin casually got his wand out and casted the hot air charm he learned from Professor Bentley, on himself. “Aaah. Much better.” He can share the warmth if Botros wants?

It was freezing! But Adi didn't mind. He was all bundled up and ready for the lesson. He arrived at the Castle's entrance and found only Ethan and Professor Botros there. Well, he certainly was early.

"Hello, Professor,'' the third year said and smiled at the man. He headed over to the wall and stood next to Ethan. "Hey, dude. What's up?'' Been skateboarding lately? Listen to any good rock music? So many questions but of course they couldn't chat much.

Wrapped up warm, West showed up on time with his runeset on hand. Good thing he WAS wrapped warm, scarf tucked up around his ears, because it was cold here.

"Too much Isa, sir?" He said by way of greeting and grinned at the old man and then, noting there weren't enough places to sit, he found a spot against the wall where he could comfortably lean.

Why must the Professor schedule classes outside basically in the freezing cold. Could they go to the Irie Room and make it into a tropical vacation. That Nigel would appreciate. But nope. They were in a small courtyard with not even enough seats for everyone. Shame. That means Nigel will have to stand to the side.

"Hello, Professor Botros. Hope the cold is not bothering you as much as me"

Winter was terrible. Nigel leaned against the wall next the the younger slytherin and copied his smart idea.

Hot air was beautiful right now.

Austin walked up to the double doors, and pulled his robes around him tighter. It was colder than he anticipated, and he desperately wished that he had brought something other than a scarf to keep him warm.

"Hello professor." He said with a nod. Upon entering the room, he noticed that there weren't that many seats available, not for the amount of students in the class anyways. So Austin slid against the wall, and did a few jumps to keep him warm. He didn't mind standing, since he could do small dances here and there create heat. Let's hope people got here in time; he didn't want to be an icicle when class started.

WHY did most of the Professors thought it was a good idea to give lessons outside in this dreadful cold? At least that was what Kevin thought they were gonna do 'cause why else would they be here instead of the classroom?

Dressed in his Gryffindor uniform, Gryffindor robe, a big oversized bomberjacket, two pair of socks, a thick scarf wrapped around his neck and nose area and gloves on his hands, Kevin was READY to go outside now.

Reaching the rest of the class , the boy saw the old man and nodded at him in a form of greeting. His nose and cheeks were already red from the cold and he looked at the big double doors...and to all the guys standing near the wall and to the chairs and desks in the middle.

"Why are you all leaning against the cold wall when there are chairs and desks right there?............weirdo's" he had whispered the last part under his breath.

Was it just her or were all of the professor purposely holding all of their lessons in the freezing cold? Surely they could get the same results somewhere warm? Plus, they were wizards no? Couldn't they get some kind of super warm magical fire going? Oh well, she was in good spirits minus being the kind of cold that no matter how many layers you had on it didn't do much.

Walking over she saw that it was all dudes there and they were all leaning against the wall. Hmm... was that a guy thing? She eyed the desks and decided that surely it was meant for the girls. "Hello professor. I'm AJ Valentine." She was pretty sure that she hadn't seen the man around before. AJ caught Adi's eyes. "Hey Adi." Oh look there was Ethan too. "Hey Ethan!"

In some ways the Professor had been learning but in others he was not. This class wasn't ridiculously early like most of the others seemed to be but like....night class? Wasn't that Astronomy's thing? Lex had long become accustomed to kicking her brain into overdrive for that subject even with her brain shutting off for the day around 6:30 pm, right in time for dinner but this was another thing completely. Night. Night and Ancient Runes just when she thought the evening was hers. What a life.

Lex followed the others to the double doors feeling the cold through the coat she'd worn over her robes. It really should be illegal to have class in this weather--at night nonetheless!!!

"Good evening Professor. Interesting hour for a Runes class if I do say so myself." Said with a smile of course because hello, this was Botros....with grey hair and no matter how many times she'd seen him since the start of the term it just never got old. Heh, old.

Noting most of the class by the wall and the few chairs Lex just sidled over to the wall, casually leaning against it and waiting. When you saw everyone at the wall, you didn't question it, you simply leaned. Duh.

It was definitely freezing outside. Luckily, he had worn double layers, a warm fuzzy jacket, his hat, scarf, and gloves. Being prepared for the freezing weather was always a plus.

Ancient Runes time. As he approached the Professor, he gave the guy a friendly grin and nod. He liked Botros. The man had let him walk Feo around and Simon certainly loved doing that. "Good evening, Professor Botros! How are you?" he said as he made his way over to Ethan. He grinned when he saw Ethan using the Charm that they had learnt during the Herbology workshop. Hmmm... He should keep that in mind if his fingers or toes started to get cold.

Class would begin any minute.

Although that workshop was an optional one, Ethan was glad he attended and helped Professor Bentley clean up Greenhouse 8, learned how to extract goo from the Fairy-Eating Orchid, and above all, learned how to cast the Hot Air Charm. The Slytherin wondered why the professor never thought of putting a fire pit or something while they waited? For once, he’s glad he’s used to this weather. But then again…tonight was just too cold.

A few minutes passed and more people arrived. Ethan beamed as he saw familiar faces within the area. Hi people! Hi! “Hey Adi. How’s it going?” They have yet to listen to rock songs and such, and he promised the Hufflepuff that he will teach him how to skateboard. The Slytherin wondered if his friend’s up to snowboard with him before winter break. Soon, they were joined by an older student. Oh he’s seen this dude before! Ethan gave him a nod and a wave as he (Nigel) eyed him cast the hot air charm on himself. “Better if we have a fire pit in here, yeah?" he said as he leaned closer to him and murmured his words. “Heeeey, dangler AJ. ‘Sup?” Ethan gave her a grin and a salute. Ethan moved to his right and made a space for part-Frenchie Grayson. “Hallo, Cloud Master.” The Slytherin grinned at his fellow Slytherin and shared with him the hot air that was coming out of his wand. "There you are, Simon."Boy, was he glad to see Simon tonight? This class is going to be ten times more fun if his brothas are here. And speaking of brother...where is Cutty?

Cris made his way over to the Ancient Runes classroom, which really wasn't an easy thing to do since this was his first time here. He was just glad that he had made it before the lesson had started.

The moment he entered the classroom, he was glad that he had put an extra layer of thermal wear. Yeah sure he came from Norway and was used to the cold brisk air...but that was outdoors. Indoors? He liked it warm and toasty, unfortunatel, neither of which were present.

Sighting the Professor, he walked up to greet him. "Good evening, Professor Botros. I'm Cristoffer Strand and this will be my first class with you. I can't wait," Cris couldn't resist adding as he smiled at the Professor.

Then he turned to look for seat before realizing there weren't that many...maybe enough for just the girls to sit on. Heck! standing was lots better than sitting especially when the room was freezing cold.

So Cris walked over to the join the other boys who were standing by the wall, of whom he recognized a few. He smiled and nodded in greeting, "Hey there Adi, West, Grayson, Nigel, Ethan, Kevin," he whispered softly in greeting.

Bay made his way to one of another of his favorite classes ancient ruins. But as soon as he made it to the doors he felt the cold, thank goodness he had come prepared. Bundling his scarf around his neck some more he spotted Professor Botros.

Not wanting to get any closer because last year he had infected the whole school pretty much but he still needed to say hello "hello professor.. I hope that your feeling better " as he passed by him noticing that there weren't too many seats so bay followed most of the boys to the wall.

The first Ancient Runes lesson of the term. He was quite excited for this class. He loved this professor. As he made his way into the classroom, he was glad he dressed warmly. He could feel the cold air drifting into the room. He scrunched up his scarf to keep the cold at bay. He smiled when he saw the professor and nodded and said, "Hello Professor! Hope you are doing well.." Then he went to the desks to find his seat.

Once he found his seat next to a window, he found himself shivering. Not quite comfortable with his seat, he took the next one back and it seemed less cold. He took out his quill and notebook from his bag and started doodling.

Very Cold.

Nothing new, though. She'd come prepared with many layers beneath her robes though that still wouldn't prevent the chill that ran down her spine. She had a scarf wrapped around her neck and covering a good portion of her face. And mittens of course! She would not survive without these. Although she might need to take them off in case her hands were needed. Most likely. But for now they stay on.

The snake was in no hurry since she left the common room early but it helped to pick up her space. For cold reasons.

And here she was by the gates where students were gathered. Oh, and professor Botros of course. "Good morning Professor, hope you're well," He looked fine and not so damaged by the coldness. He must have known a trick or two to warm his warn old body.

"Yo, Kevin,'' the Hufflepuff greeted. "I'm sure the Professor wouldn't mind if you go sit down. But only if you're a girl.'' Hehe. Adi looked away from the Lion boy and caught sight of AJ as she approached them. She was the first girl on scene. "Hey, AJ,'' he grinned at his girl best friend.

"It's going great,'' he said to Ethan. "Loving the weather.'' Yep as winter was his favourite season. And Cris the sixth year joined them at that moment. "Hey, Criss,'' Adi said returning the greeting. There was a greeting for his best friend too. "Hi, Benny. Yep, loving it!'' He grinned broadly.

So, how much longer until the lesson started?

Ancient Runes. Tag didn't know how he felt about this class anymore. Personally. Nothing against Botros. Just how Tag felt like how he had been doing in this class. Was not as good as he wished, so it had taken him until almost last minute to drag himself outside for the class.

Tag looked at how the 'classroom' was set up and had no idea what they would be doing. So he didn't even try to guess. He did see his girlfriend, standing though, and winking. To him. He'd really appreciate it if she didn't do that. Most boys were stupid and get the wrong idea. Just being honest here. So he shot the guy a look, yes, you Bird boy, don't be stupid, and made his way to stand right next to Lotus.

Also, hi Professor. Tag just gave him a small nod and waited for class to begin.
