Lux nodded at what Christmas said. There was no need to make Laura or anyone sad by bringing up Graduation. "Ooh, that sounds like a lot of fun, Laura!" She had always wanted to try a three-legged race, but had never gotten the chance to. "So how long have you two known each other?" she asked curiously.

Zahra watched the Puffy do its thing for a bit then approached her. She knew her of course, since they were in the same year and all, but Zahra hadn't ever bothered talking to her. Why would she when she had MIKEY TOUSSAINT to talk to all the time?

Except now where was Mikey Toussaint? Probably snogging whoever whatever blah blah blah NOT THINKING ABOUT THIS.

"Sup." Cool. Sup. Sup.

And what a relief that was!

Because Rhodes really had no idea what she would've suggested they do to a garden gnome if they found one. At least now, though, she had plenty of time to actually think about it since it didn't seem like they were going to find any anytime soon. She gave Michael a quick shrug of her shoulders, to make it seem like she was upset by the lack of gnomes, before leaning forward to pick more flowers.

Now that he was wearing a flower crown, she thought she should wear one, too. But, of course, hers was going to be so much better than his. The rules and all.

"Have you ever played before?" She glanced over at him from the corner of her eye. "Because some people would know that that's what they want to do as soon as they play once." At least, that's how she thought some people would know. If you have to keep on doing the same thing to figure out if you like it or not, most likely you don't like it. As for her broom, the look on her face was probably enough to let him know she wasn't happy about it not being with her. "It's collecting dust, that's what it's doing." Or.. not really, since her house was thoroughly cleaned everyday, but still! "My grandparents say I should use the school brooms. Something about not needing the best all the time, I dunno." She didn't know.

She did know what Michael was getting at, though, and allowing herself a smug smile, she turned her body so that she was facing him fully. For whenever he didn't want to talk anymore. "Did you learn anything new?"

Christmas smiled at Lux and said "Oh i have known Laura for a while can't remember when we first met but it has been a while" Christmas laughed and said "Well Laura we need to do something special this year"

Marigold continued skipping around. Skip, hop, ladeela... why was she so happy again? She paused for a moment, trying to think, then shrugged. She was just naturally happy, yeah? Beaming happened, then she became aware of a person watching her.

Oh. She had seen that girl around before... they were in the same year, right? But they had never spoken before. The other girl was a Gryffindor... and usually hung out with that Gryffindor boy too? Yeah?

Riiiiight. She had heard gossip about those two.

Marigold gave a little headnod to the girl. "Nothing much. You?"

THAT WAS THE RIGHT RESPONSE TO SUP RIGHT?

"Only in the backyard with the family." And while that was fun he was still unsure if playing seriously was something he wanted to do. He did like to fly though. A lot. "Maybe it takes some people a little bit longer than just the once." Not everything was instantaneous. Besides playing with your family in the backyard and playing seriously was two totally different things. Michael picked at a few blades of grass while she had her little mini rant and he shook his head. "I don't get your grandparents. There's nothing wrong with having the best if you have it." Unless she abuses the privilege.

The smile she was wearing told him that she knew exactly what he had been thinking. Her question though had him blinking rapidly. "I...uh...don't think so." It wasn't like he had been reading up on techniques if that's what she was getting at. "You're the only girl I've kissed." Why did that make him feel like such a loser? "Why? Have you learned anything new?"

I was THINKING about going down to Hogsmeade, squeezing through the gates, and going to visit my pig and brother, in that order, but that's no fun alone and I SORT OF have to "be good" if you know what I mean and sneaking off grounds is probably not "being good" if you know what I mean, so I guess I'm just gonna sit here."

So there was that.

What a bum life.

"Maybe I should study something or something."

Marigold giggle!nodded at the other girl - hmm, she should find out her name - at the slightly bored sounding answer. But then the Gryffindor went on a rant talking about pigs? brothers? something like that and Marigold was CONFUSED. Awkward bouncing occurred until the last statement.

"NO STUDYING." Fake pout. It was a nice day, and though studying WOULD be helpful and stuff, Marigold was giddy and wanted to just relax and bounce and feel the breeze. "Talk with me instead?" she asked/said/bounced.

BOUNCING.

"I'm Marigold, by the way," said the resident West stalker. And her name was...?

"Oh yeah. I mean, I sort of already am talking to you." So sure okay why not? Why stop now. Though Zahra did almost offer her a high five for that LOUD and ENTHUSIASTIC decreeing of no homework. Maybe later.

For now, there was talking. And intros. Cool, cool. "Like the flower. I got a flower name, too, you know? Zahra Daisy Kettleburn. My family is like.... really into flowers. Yours? That were you got your name?"

Marigold grinned. YAY TALKING TO NEW AWESOME PEOPLE YES! And that meant that she wouldn't have to study like the other girl suggested, right? YAY FOR JUST HANGING OUT. Bounce bounce. Back to trampoline-y thoughts.

Imagine having a name like Hyacinth or like... Tagimaucia." She had a friend with a florist mother, 'kay? She didn't actually want to know these names. "Is Zahra a flower too?" Just asking.

Oh. And, "I got my name from the flowers in the hospital that I was born at. Actually. My mum gave birth to me, looked over at the bedside table, and was like 'oh look, flowers! Let's name her Marigold!' True story."

What did THAT mean? The Puff was glad her family WASN'T ZAHRA'S? What a stupid Puff. She didn't know NOTHING. Zahra just stared at her head for a while, not really listening to stuff cause blah blah blah. Did MariMOLD know her DAD was THE Minister? OF MAGIC? And he liked flowers. So.


AND EWWWWWWWWW GIVING BIRTH? WHAT A TIME TO START LISTENING AGAIN. AHHHHH EWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!

Zahra just .... really. What was there to say after BIRTHING? "Do you have a boyfriend?" Because it was the first thing that came to mind to get this girl on a NEW SUBJECT.

Marigold was suddenly aware that she was babbling on about FLOWERS for Merlin's sake, and Zahra was CLEARLY just staring at her instead of actually listening. For the better, probably. Now Marigold was shifting from foot to foot awkwardly. Think of things other than flowers. Like mud. And dirt. And weeds.

...clearly she was thinking of gardeny things.

Aaaaand then that happened. O.o Did she have a WHAT?!?!? For some reason the first person that popped into her head was West. And then she got mad at herself because she should be thinking of Kace AND THEN she got all confused because she was thinking of her FRIENDS for Morgana's sake and then she thought about Mitchell FOR NO REASON AT ALL.

"No."

Yeah.

Zahra figured that. "No offense, but that's not a shocker. I don't have one either. It's apparently all important and junk now though." SIGH. "My friend Ruby says she has like a million or something and it's easy to get one. I called her a liar and she got mad though, so she must be telling the truth."

Marigold didn't take that as something meant to offend her, whether it was intended for that or not. It's not like she expected to have one anyway. She nodded when Zahra said she didn't have one either. Made sense Understandable considering how old they were, yeah? And she was SURE she had heard about this Ruby before.

Buuuuuut when?

She nodded again. "Makes sense. She must be telling the truth when it comes to something like that." Nod. Bounce. Repeat.

She supposed he had a point.

After all, he had only played the game with his family, and they probably just always let him win. So of course he wouldn't know if it was something he wanted to take seriously. Or he could've just been one of those people who had to think things through first and yeah.. Rhodes was just going to nod her head and pretend that she agreed completely with everything he said. At least what he said about her grandparents was something she could agree completely with. She tossed the few flowers she had picked back into the dirt and siiiiighed. For dramatics. "They are old, what do you expect?" Only other old people could get them. "I don't even care." Except she did. "My broom is probably safer at home anyway." Although she would've liked it with her.

And that wasn't what she was expecting. Rhodes stared right at Michael all through his crazy eye blinking thing, and if he hadn't stopped when he did, she was going to resort to poking those eyes to get him to stop. Was that really such a weird question? Weren't they supposed to learn new things!?

What was she supposed to say back to him!?

Erm.. "Well.. you're the only boy I've kissed." Pfft. Totally not a big deal. "So I guess I haven't learned anything new either." Did that mean they were going to try then? She scoot scoot scooted closer to him, just in case.

Actually he didn't expect very much. Although his grandparents were old too but he couldn't imagine them telling him that he had to leave his broomstick at home because he shouldn't need to have the best all the time. Michael raised his eyebrow at her comment about not caring. "You are a terrible liar Rhodes Merivel." She wanted to have her broom with her, he could tell.

That's when he had an idea. "Why don't you write and tell them that you made the Quidditch team. I could even write to them, pretending to be your Captain and tell them that it would be more preferable if you had your own broomstick." Like her grandparents would know the difference.

That actually made him feel slightly better, hearing that he had been the only boy she had kissed and that she hadn't learned anything new either. And he wasn't sure what to say next, but seeing her moving closer to him, Michael figured words weren't really necessary at the moment.

He moved his head into the perfect kissing position, waited a heartbeat before gently pressing his lips against hers. It was just as nice as their previous kisses but this time, Michael wrapped an arm around her waist and held her close to him as he deepened the kiss a little more.

Yeah, yeah. She was lying about not wanting her broom with her, so what? Rhodes simply waved off Michael's words, and was just about to tell him to shut up about it because talking about it wasn't getting her broom to Hogwarts when.. well, he came up with an idea to get it to Hogwarts. And it was actually a really good idea, too.

How would her grandparents know if she made the team or not? It wasn't like they would venture all the way to the castle to watch her play if she did, so.. it could really work! Rhodes was grinning as she nodded her head, and if she would've had any type of parchment in her pockets, she would've pushed it into his hands to get started right away. Later then. "We'll have to use the school owls, of course. Because they will suspect something if the Quidditch Captain sent them an owl using mine."

While her grandparents were old, they were still kind of smart. And highly suspicious of her. She decided to leave all that out, though.

Besides, it seemed like the time for talking was over since he was leaning closer to her, and once his lips were pressed against hers, she didn't even need to think about kissing him back. Rhodes moved onto her knees so that he could have a better hold on her, and wrapping one arm around his neck, she brought the other up to take the flower crown from off his head. He could wear it again once they were done.

"If I had an owl we could have used mine." But eh, he had wanted a ferret. And now he had a Jarvey much to his father's horror. Although he had said that he was glad that Michael hadn't brought home a tarantula like his mother and aunt Cela had.

And the details could be worked out after seeing how their lips were kind of busy at the moment.

The kiss was way better than their first kisses but it still wasn't perfect. Their teeth occasionally clashed against each other and he had no idea whether to keep his eyes open or close them.

He did like it when she put her arm around him though. After another couple of seconds, he gently pulled back from her. "So...uh...how was that?" He asked brushing her hair off her shoulder with his free hand.

Rhodes may have been just a little bit suspicious of Michael.

There he was, not only suggesting that he write a fake letter from the Slytherin Captain to send to her grandparents so that she could have her broom at Hogwarts, but he was also offering up an owl he didn't have so that the letter could be sent! Not many people would do something like that, and for a moment there, a very brief moment, she thought he had some sort of ulterior motive.

Was he planning on STEALING her broom once it arrived? What about some sort of BROOM SABOTAGE!? She knew that, if he made his Quidditch team and she didn't make hers, she wouldn't be too happy. Was he like that, too!?

Questions. Lots of questions that, of course would have to wait. Have to wait until her broom did arrive or.. at least until their lips weren't so busy being connected.

A small smile was on her face once Michael pulled away from her, and although it wasn't a perfect kiss, not that she knew what a perfect kiss was exactly, she had to admit that it was a lot, a whole lot better than those first few in Diagon Alley. Rhodes pretended to think about his question, though, because she didn't want to sound too excited about the progress they were making, and once she thought it was a long enough wait, she gave a nod of approval. "It was nice." Very nice actually. "We're still going to need some practice." So he knew.

She was smiling and said that the kiss was nice, so that was a good thing, right?

Merlin this kissing thing could be a little stressful.

Especially when Rhodes decided to inform him that they needed more practice. Either he really needed it or she just wanted to kiss him again. He was going to go with the latter. It made him feel better.

"Sounds good to me." Like he was going to knock back a snogging session with her. Michael smiled as he reached up and fixed the flower that was tucked behind her ear.

"When is your birthday Rhodes?" Random question.

And she probably should've mentioned that she only suggested more practice because she would want to kiss him again. But, it was a little too late to say anything about that now because he seemed more than fine with it and their conversation moved onto.. her birthday.

Rhodes reached up to put the flower crown back on top of his head, because he was fixing the flower behind her ear and since she was done kissing him he could have it back, before scooting just a liiiiiittle bit away from him to pick at the flowers again.

"June second." Was he planning on buying her a gift? If he was, she would be happy to list all the things she liked and the things she would want. "It sucks having a birthday during the school year. Can't really do much. When is yours?"

June second. He filed that away for future reference. Not that he didn't think her grandparents didn't get her anything for her birthday because he was sure that they gave her what she wanted. He thought it would be nice if she got something from a friend. "Eh it's not that bad." Having a birthday during the school year that is. "Mine is March twenty second."

He sat quietly for a moment watching her pick more flowers. "I probably should get back to the castle. Perseus and Napoleon will need feeding." And probably the bathroom as well.

Michael leaned over and dropped a kiss on the top of her head. "I'll see you soon Rhodes Merivel." He got up and made his way out of the student garden still wearing his flower crown.

"She's crazy though, like literally you know... crazy. Crazy Ruby." Zahra rubbed at her nose, effectively getting dirt from this garden all over her face.

"How about a best friend? You got one of those?"

Marigold grinned. This Ruby sounded like someone she could TOTALLY get along with. She also liked Zahra, especially with the dirt on her nose. Yeah, they would get along FINEEEE. She needed some friends who were actually GIRLS, didn't she?

Hmm. "I... am not really sure. I'm friends with Kace, and Mitchell, though I sometimes despise him. I... don't really have many other friends." O.O That was weird. Why didn't she? "I have a best friend back home, I guess. And some friends who don't go to school around here anymore. And some older/younger ones too." STRANGE. She needed a better social life, apparently. Then she grinned suddenly and got all dramatic and whispery.
