Behind a large, gilded, and beautifully restored mirror on the fourth floor is a secret passageway. Unfortunately it doesn't lead anywhere because of a cave in, but if one could get the mirror off the wall, one could find a neat hiding place...
Oddly enough, the mirror always reflects a scene of handsome chandeliers, elegant landscape oil paintings, and golden draperies, which is not at all the corridor opposite it.
Fern stood in front of the mirror, hands keeping her messy hair piled on her head so that the ends reached her ears instead of her shoulders. She pursed her lips, turning her face this way and that. She tried a close-lipped smile and batted her eyes. Then she tried a pout.
"You can call me Fern," she whispered to her reflection, "I'm thirteen years old and the most po-"
Wide hazel eyes looked back at her in the mirror. Mouth open. Freckled face pale.
She dropped her hands, dull brown hair falling to her shoulders, and took off running toward the screams, "I'M COMING, I'M COMING, DON'T WORRY!!!"

This whole aging thing just need to stop and the students needed to go back to being young again. Professors were already old so they might as well endure it. "Mhm. Climbing mountains in the snow, jumping off roofs, basically things that cause broken bones," Which Jun has already had plenty of before. No more were needed. "Most students here aren't that interesting to be spied on anyway,"
"That's what we called them for fun. It's nothing serious," Jun waved his hand at him. Because "get to togethers" was just a long phrase and dates was much easier and faster to say. "Don't worry, you can keep playing big brother to her until she actually starts dating. I promise it won't be me," Lex and Jun both agreed it would be weird so they just left it at that.
Yeah, no. All those reasons did not make being a prefect sound cool or fun. Just sounded like more work for them to do. Homework and classwork as already enough. "Whoa! Talk about so super exciting! I wish I were a prefect!" Cue fake grin. "I don't think I'd make a good prefect anyway. I'd smack people with pans if they got really annoying," Which was almost all the time.
After the conversation with Jun, Alec wasn't sure whether his next words meant that he was being sarcastic or... well... if it was a genuine compliment. "I... thanks! Seeker eyes," Even... if this old age feeling had meant that his eyes weren't what they used to be. It was a tragedy. Really. He was glad, though, that Jun agreed with the grey hairs comment. That nodding. "D'you think it'll go away?" You know, the hairs and the wrinkles. ... Wait... what?! "Really?" he asked, eyebrows raised, impressed. Just... climbing mountains! "Have you ever broken a bone before?" Serious question was serious. ... SNORT. "It might be how the Aparecium always find things out, you know."
Nothing serious. The Head Boy let out a sigh of relief at that, a small smile flitting across his face. "I'm glad. It's just... I don't want someone to break her heart. Not... that I think you will but..." Shrug. "I'm just protective over her." Did Jun have any sisters? Would he understand? "Awesome. I... why do you say it won't be you?" Did he not think Candy was good enough to be dated?
... And then he burst out laughing. "I know it doesn't sound exciting. It's just... it has its perks and downfalls too." Pause. "I... don't think anyone would want a bossy, arrogant Head Boy." You know, to make himself feel a bit better. ... Wait... pans?! PANS?! Was Alec hearing him correctly? "You hit people with pans?"

Surely the noble lads and lasses of Hogwarts castle would never allow one of their own to die....... alone.

WHAT.

"What in the name of...?" Pause. STARE.
... No. Just... NO. Nobody was meant to die at Hogwarts! ... Not while he was still Head Boy, anyways. Taking a deep breath, he turned to look at Jun, his grey eyes wide and his face paler than usual. "Where do you think that came from?" he asked, pulling out his wand and looking this way and that. Up the corridor... down the corridor...

Yeah, totally wasn't a compliment.
But Jun let Alec think so and just nodded. He should probably cut the boy some slack from all the sass he had been giving him. Maybe it'll make the Head Boy grow some back bone for any other time he met someone like Jun. Hopefully never because Jun was special no one else could be like him. Mhm. He nodded again. "Maybe the potions mater would finally come up with something to make us young again," And make the already old people, old again. Because getting younger was better than feeling like every little step you took, you could break a bone or something. "Yes. And it wasn't pleasant at all. Which is why now I look like my grandfather, I'm trying not to do anything drastic that can cause that," Like that time he was with Char and Jun suddenly felt pain in his legs. "Maybe. I'm sure they're just students who stalk other people around the school," But of course it could be the ghosts too. Just have someone write it out for them.
"Don't think she would let anyone break her heart. She's a tough cookie," And a good hexer. "I'm sure the whole world could tell you're very protective of her," Nod nod. Seeing as he was interrogating Jun on the matter. "Because I don't have an interest in her like that. She's just a good friend," No matter what the gossip paper says. They were only ever friends.
Well, duh. "Most people want pushover prefects like you. Which is why they like you so much. I'll be sure to remember you in the yearbook as "Head Boy Pushover," Even if he had to scribble it in himself. Oh, the pan thing. Jun forgot about that. "It was one time! I was trying to cook, and my cousin was annoying me so I chased him down and smacked him with a pan. But, I would so do it again," And if he did, he'd probably be known as pan boy in school.

Was that a SCREAM?
Who in their right name would be screaming bloody murder in school? Jun jolted a bit and took out his wand. Where? Jun shrugged. "Sounded like the staircase. Maybe you should go check it out," He turned Alec around and pushed him towards the stairs. "Spells and hexes could be flying so just be ready," Jun held up Alec's wand hand and stood behind him. "I'm gonna use you as a human shield seeing as I'm younger and it's your job to protect me!" Obviously. Jun slowly pushed Alec towards the stairs, hiding behind him and making sure nothing came towards them.

Naive Alec was incredibly naive and going to think that Jun really was complimenting him. Or, if he wasn't, he was going to pretend it had been. So, at that nod, the Hufflepuff smiled in return. They could move on, yeah? Like start talking about... "Maybe," he said, shrugging his shoulders, "They did that with the ice cream incident. Whatever it is, I hope it's permanent." If this had been a normal mirror that they were standing near, he would have made a point to pick at a strand of grey hair. "I... that's probably for the better," Old age, you know. "You'd probably break more bones if you play Quidditch. I was limping around for a long time after one match." A part of him hoped that Jun wouldn't ask which match since Alec, for the life of him, couldn't remember. "They must be pretty good at stalking then."
As much as the older brotherly part of Alec didn't want to admit it, Jun... did have a point. "Maybe she'll hex the guy who breaks her heart." It was better than the idea of her having a broken heart in the first place so... "It's really that obvious?" Maybe he needed to tone it down. ... Yeah... not going to happen. Grey-blue eyes glanced over at Jun and looked at him carefully as he spoke. Just a good friend? "Well... I'm glad. You don't seem like a bad lad."
... The sarcasm was strong in this one. "I always thought I'd be known as the Head Boy with good hair," he muttered, mostly to himself. He wasn't going to comment on the pushover part because... it was partly true, wasn't it? ... No. He was going to move that off to one side and concentrate on... SNORT. Pans. He was trying his hardest not to laugh. Yeah... trying. "A pan's not a bad weapon. Bet he didn't see that coming."
...
The staircase? Alec glanced over in that direction, a small frown forming across his face. He hardly noticed Jun pushing him towards the staircase since his mind was trying to think of all sorts of possibilities. "Yeah, yeah... and be ready too as well, yeah? Don't want you getting hurt." ... Wait... human shield?! Was Jun... scared? "I... fine fine. I'll be your shield." Jun was ready, right? Could defend himself? Alec hoped so because...
