The Mirror
|
Goldilocks Mitchell was busy checking out all there was to see. There was so much of it too. This gigantic castle seemed to go on forever. He backtracked down a hall after a glint caught his eye. He walked down the hall. That was a mirror. He turned around. Then back at the mirror. Then down the hall again. Something wasn't right here. |
Farmer Boy Quote:
This was weeeeird. But what was weirder was the person next to the mirror. "Farmer Boy!" she said, running up to him and the mirror and skidding to a stop. She hadn't bothered putting shoes on, only socks. She tried to grab on to something, but instead hit the mirror with a thunk. She fell over. From the floor, she said to Mitchell, "There's something weird about the mirror." |

He glanced at the mirror then back at her. "Yeah. I can see your face print." he said with a light laugh. Teasing. That was teasing. "You alright?" |
Quote:
Glare. "That's not nice." But she checked the mirror anyway. Nope, no face print. "And it's a lie." She stepped closer to the mirror. "No, like the reflection. Unless the impact injured my brain, I'm pretty sure we don't have oil paintings here." |
Quote:
"You're the one that hit it, not me." he said with a smirk. Besides, it was a joke. She should know him well enough to tell. "Yeah." he said turning his attention back to the mirror. He was only going to look at the mirror now. Yup. He was a little bit insulted that she'd ignored his hand earlier. "I was actually thinking that..." he said resting a hand on the mirror. He then leaned an ear against it and knocked. Just out of curiosity. |
Quote:
And she went right back to glaring. "It wasn't funny. Girls can be self conscious about that stuff." Fake!sniffle. Marigold turned her attention back to the mirror. When she had hit it, it had made a thunk, like it was hollow, or didn't have a wall behind it... She stepped forward and banged hard on it, hearing the same hollow sound. Then she tried shifting the frame. |
Mitchell laughed. "Perfect. I love failed magic." They made for the best stories. "I've blown up perfectly good tennis balls like that." Except, not failed magic, he was trying to cause said reaction. "You're fine. You don't need to be self conscious." he said with a playful little nudge. She should know by now that they were friends and he reallllly liked teasing her. It was fun. Especially when she got all... huffy. He took a step closer. "What are you looking for?" |
Quote:
HUFF. "You're not a GIRL. You don't understand," she said with an eyeroll. Boys were just a DIFFERENT SPECIES or something. She could probably study them and never quite get why they were so "It sounded hollow. I'm seeing if I can," she puuuuuushed. "Move the frame." She looked up at him (she's short, okay?). "Help me?" |
Quote:
He blinked a few times before moving in front of her. "Hey. Were you being serious? Because I'm sorry if I did actually offend you." He ran a hand through his hair. Hopefully she was fine. Mitchell did have a sister, so he knew how girls could get about things. "Why? You think there's something behind it?" he asked leaning his head against the wall. He tried to see behind the frame, but no luck. He then tried moving the frame too. |
Quote:
Marigold was a bit offended, yeah, but all of it went away when she saw Mitchell actually become serious. "I'm okay," she mumbled. She could forgive him just this once. "I doooooo. Because it sounds all hollow, right?" she asked, hitting it again. THUNK. Yep, sounded solid. She pushed harder and then fell over when the frame moved an inch. WHOA. |
Quote:
Mitchell took a step closer and blinked. What the...? He held a hand out behind him in case Goldie wanted some help up. But he didn't look at her or ask if she was okay. Why? She was too preoccupied with an empty space where there should have been wall. |
Quote:
Marigold grumpily took his hand up back to standing, but Mitchell didn't seem to notice or care. And once she looked at the wall, she didn't care either. "Why.... where.... what..." she said, stumbling through her words. "Where's... the wall?" |
Quote:
He continued to stare at the wall. He barely even noticed Goldilocks let him help her up. He did step in front of her though. You know, just in case. "No idea." he said in a near whisper. "It doesn't look like..." he squinted. "... like it goes very far." |
Quote:
... Still nothing? Okay, she could deal. Totally. Think of West. Where did that come from? And then Mitchell was stepping in front of her. Thanks for the protection and all that, but 1) It was Hogwarts, and 2) She couldn't see. Standing on her tip toes didn't help at all. Grrrr. Grumbling, she tapped on his shoulder. "Can you scootch? Cuz I'm vertically challenged and all?" |
Quote:
"You know, if they were trying to hide something, they shouldn't have used this mirror. It sticks out pretty good." |
Quote:
Climbing inside was easier than she thought. Even with being short, by grabbing onto Mitch's shoulder, she could boost herself up and climb inside. It was cool, and there was a bit of rubble on the ground. She climbed in a bit farther on all fours to the back of the small space. "Join me?" she said, patting the space beside her. "Plus, we wouldn't have found this place without these," she said, wiggling her socked feet at him. |
Quote:
Of course, the tomb could have actually been cursed. What were the chances of this hole being cursed? Goldie should get out of there. You know, just in case. ....... orrrrrrrr he could join her. Yup. "Think I'll fit?" he asked peering into the space. |
Quote:
"Of course you'll fit! Your," Cough, "muscles don't take up THAT much space. Plus, I'm small." Why? Did he NOT want to snuggle up with her, wink wink? "What, does New York not have secret passages? Are Americans just not brave? Why are you in Gryffindor anyway?" Heh. |
Quote:
Hopefully. "Dunno. The hat thing just said that and I walked away. I didn't exactly have a conversation." |
Quote:
And HAHAHHA. "That's hilarious!!! Don't you just LOVE the hat?" she asked giggling. And then she snorted. HAHA. "Soooo... sup?" |
Quote:
... wait. What? He moved an arm to his face and sniffed. Nope. He smelled like normal. Unless he always smelled bad? Nobody has said anything about it before so he thought he was an acceptable amount of... smell. Or whatever. He then blinked several times. It was hilarious? He didn't say anything funny. "I'm indifferent to the hat..." He blinked a few more times. "Is it supposed to be a funny hat?" He took a deep breath. "Oh. You know. Just chillin' in a hole in the wall. You?" |
Quote:
AND HAHAHAH he was actually smelling himself? Giggle. "I was kidding you know," she said, nudging him She drummed her fingers on her leg and shrugged. "I dunno.... I just like the hat? Isn't that alright?" Cue confused look. "Just chilling with a New Yorker in the wall. You know, normal." |
Quote:
Oh. Right. Kidding. He knew that. Sort of. "I can never tell with you, Goldie." She confused him. He normally assumed that she was joking, but didn't quite know for sure. "You're hard to read." And that was fine. She could like all the hats she wanted. He watched her hands as she talked. He then let out a soft laugh. "Completely normal." |
Quote:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. She winked at Mitch. "You're funny," she said, wiggling her eyebrows. She was joking except SHE WISHED SHE WASN"T COZ UGH THAT SMELL. "Thanks," she said dryly, rolling her eyes. She was UNIQUE actually, Farmer Boy. HUMpH. |
