Captain Branxton will be holding a refresher/how-to flying session on the Practice Pitch effective immediately. Bring a broom if you have one... and you can borrow someone's if you do not. Drop by and let's fly!

Herbology Lesson One

Who: All Hogwarts Students

What: Lesson One

When: Friday 10th January @ approx 2am GMT

Where: The Student Garden

Items to Bring: Common sense, dragon hide gloves, comfortable shoes- strictly no high heels, a smile and basic note-taking implements.

OOC: The lesson won't start for about 8-12 hours after the lesson thread has been posted, so people will have time to RP arriving to class, reacting to their surroundings and greeting their peers and Professor Bentley. The class will last up to a week. Please read through the Herbology Rules and Expectations prior to attending the lesson, I will KNOW if you haven't read them. If you have any questions feel free to PM (personal message) me.

WHO ~ All first year students
WHEN ~ Beginning January 9
WHERE ~ The Hogwarts Quidditch pitch
WHY ~ To master basic broom control and flight mechanics

Reminder: By school rules, no first year is allowed their own broom at Hogwarts.

OOC: This lesson is for first years only and will open immediately, but not begin until January 9 in the afternoon EST to give plenty of time for you guys to RP being scared and all that.

Potions homework 1

Option 1:
Pick a magical creature and design your own legend and potion in at least 2 paragraphs. What might be 2 of the potion's ingredients? Where can it be used in daily life?

Option 2:
Breathe your potion on someone, ask them to describe the feeling and write their description in one paragraph.

The RP should be at least 3 posts long:
1. Picking a target and taking the potion into your mouth,
2. Breathing fire,
3. Asking them how it felt.
Please include all the links in the PM.
Due: 27th of January, 23.59 GMT
Worth: 11 points (an extra 5 points is available for great creativity and effort)

Please pick only one of the options. I will not grade any if you do both.

Herbology Homework One

Task:

Your task, is to collect your thoughts and plan out your Topiary Project which we will begin in the next lesson. You are required to consider a number of different factors that were discussed during lesson one.

All plans must be written down and submitted for approval before the start of lesson two.

The following is a guideline only, however you are encouraged to consider factors outside of those provided.

You will be encouraged to use a number of different methods to create your topiary, however it is important that you consider which method/technique best supports your design and should be able to explain why.

If you answered yes to any of the above questions - and even if you didn't! - then Professor Tyner would love to have your help refurbishing the school brooms.
