As you walk through the corridor, passing the creepy spirit room and ignoring the portraits' conversation among each other, you'll encounter a turn to your left where the scene will change entirely. Here, you'll find much more lit area with a double couch, and two more single ones. This marks the Ancient Runes territory. There's a vase with white flowers in the middle of this seating area. A book or two are usually scattered on top of the small table too, those are chosen by the professor for educational and entertainment purposes. Watch out though, the issue of those comic books or magazines may be way, WAY out of date talk about 30 years late.
Tobias had been unsure about coming to see Botros. The man gave off a grandfatherly sort of air which was very comforting, but Toby wasn't sure whether or not it would be a bit... soon? He'd grappled over the idea for an hour or two that afternoon, finally deciding that he was being downright silly. Of course he wanted to see Professor Botros; not only did Ancient Runes remain one of his favourite subjects, but Professor Botros would probably always be one of his favourite teachers (with Airey and Astronomy both way up their as well). It would be silly to not visit when it was obvious that it was something Tobias really wanted to do.
So that was how Tobias found himself outside the man's office, knocking to request entry and waiting to hear for a reply, if there was going to be one. As ever, he bounced up and down on his toes, and also tapped out a simple rhythm on his thighs as he waited.
When was the last time he'd seen Botros? Probably whenever the last class was before he'd been pulled out of school for the end of last term. It had definitely been a while, so that just made Toby even more pleased that he'd decided to come and see the Professor. Maybe later he'd head on up to Airey, too.

Aaaand, Tobias was everywhere.
Much to Cutty's chagrin. There was something about the Hufflepuff boy. With his smiling and his HAIR that made it difficult for Cutty to remain clear-headed. Nevermind that Cutty had paid TWO whole galleons of his hard earned money (that we know his mama didn't send him) just to get into the Hufflepuff games...even when they weren't playing Slytherin. Just thinking about the effect put Cutty in a foul mood and his faint, but hope-filled smile dropped clean off to be replaced with his more consistent scowl.
The secundo gave serious thought to drawing and firing upon Tobias. A warning jinx straight into his ear, but Tobias was older and more learned and he probably knew a good counterspell and JAkldfjklsjdFJdkJdjJDFJjjf!!!
He hated Tobias Tempus so much!!!!
So instead, Cutty put on a fake grin and took a seat next too, but not too close to the boy to wait for the Runes Professor. "Tempus." He said greeting the Puff, but it came out more irritable and snooty than Cutty had intended and he was none too happy about that either.

The sound of Botros' cane against the stony floor preceded him as usual. The man himself came to view after only a moment, his neutral face broke into a wide smile upon seeing the two students waiting for him. Quite early into the term, too, he appreciated the passion to learn of some kids. "Mr. Tempus. Mister... slytherin." That other boy was definitely none of his student, Botros was a forgetful man but he knew his old students' faces, and this was none of them.
The professor continued towards his office's door. "You came to see me?" It was no emergency since bother of them had calmly seated themselves in this area. "Together?" Or should he let one in while the other waited? Botros waited for them to talk, standing just outside the door.
Tobias knew from the LACK of the cane-stomp-and-shuffle that the footsteps he heard first did not belong to Professor Botros. He looked up to see Cutty coming down the corridor, clearly towards the Ancient Rune's professor's office. If he noticed the range of expressions on Cutty's face at all, he did and said nothing to show it. Instead, he offered the younger boy a wide smile and a cheerful wave.
"Hi Cutty!" the Hufflepuff responded, with that kind of chirpiness that some would kind annoying and others, refreshing. He kept looking at Cutty and just opened his mouth again, perhaps to ask about that concert his mother(???) had mentioned when he, Cutty and Forrest had seen each other at Diagon Alley, or perhaps not. He wasn't ever sure of what he would say until he actually said it.
But before he could say anything, the telltale sound of Botros' cane!shuffle reached his ears, and Tobias looked back up again.
"Hi Professor Botros!" Toby greeted the man as he got back up to his feet. He nodded at the elderly man's words, and then paused as he himself glanced over at Cutty and back to Botros again, before smiling. "We didn't come together, no. But I don't mind talking to you with Cutty in the room. We're friends." He didn't consider that maybe Cutty had wanted to talk to Botros alone.

Tap. Tap. Tap.
A deliberate and careful noise preceded what Cutty had found to be the Ancient Runes Professor, which the little Slytherin terd found delightful. Not for it's grandfatherly charm, but for the inborn warning system it would serve no matter what Cutty was up to.
'Together?'
'Together?'
'Together?'
The word echoed in Cutty's warped little mind and he almost had forgotten to make his disgusted face. Almost. Though it was a bit delayed in showing itself. It was as though he was deeply against doing anything together with Tobias, but the boy was trying too hard in my opinion. Cutty gave serious thought to using one of his fictitious names when he realized the Professor didn't know him. A good thing. But for some reason, he just wasn't feeling like Elliot Summerfield that day, so he decided to do something he rare did and speak the truth, "It's Mr. Mordaunt, Sir. Cutty Mordaunt."

And he was doing that thing again...with his smile and his HAIR! Cutty found it almost too unbearable and what he wanted to shout was, 'Like Hell we are!', but he thought better of it in front of a professor. And it seemed that Toby's personality wouldn't suit any manner of lie Cutty could construct about trying to cut the queue. The Hufflepuff boy was ever-likely to allow him to go first so any act of aggression before figures of authority was probably unnecessary and ineffective. Besides, wasn't Tobias dead useful enough to have warranted staying on his good side...Did Tobias have a bad side?
That was when he realized that what he knew, I mean actually KNEW, of the boy he could fit into a thimble and it bothered him severely. But now seemed a perfectly reasonable time to rectify that.
"Yeah! That's right, Professor. We're friends. I don't mind going in with Tobias, so long as he goes first. He was afterall, here before I was." What was he going to speak to the Professor about? If nothing else, the class itself which was the reason why Cutty was there anyway. No information is EVER bad information. Ever.
This wasn't too much of a big deal, was it? Well, yes, it was. To her. Which is why she decided to come to this office again, barely remembering the first time she'd been here, with West, by the way. That seemed to have happened a looooong time ago, back when giving West a hug wouldn't have been so awkward thanks to his current height.
None of that was something she'd be discussing with Professor Botros, though, if he would be so kind to let her inside, that is.
So, she knocked on the door and waited. Standing, holding the Ancient Runes textbook, not sitting, because she was too restless to take a seat.

So, she knocked on the door and waited. Standing, holding the Ancient Runes textbook, not sitting, because she was too restless to take a seat.
Botros was inside the office, enjoying a good day of Runes de-coding. He had old dusty parchments all over the floor and the chairs, barely space for someone else to join him. When he heard the knocks, the door swung open and he smiled at the girl standing at the threshold. "Hello. Come in come in. Tread carefully." Literally.
By the time Sophie made it to the Runes professor's office, she was exhausted. She had gone alllll the way from the dungeons to the Ravenclaw tower, then back down to the fifth floor. Her current state was embarrassing, as she approached the waiting area - she was short of breath, she had to pull up her hair into a high bun on the top of her neck to lessen her sweating, and she looked even more distraught than she had when she left the dungeons. The whole trek, she was focused on the events that were still happening back at the party and how awful it was. She tried to reassure herself that Botros was okay and he really WAS happy to be there. Unless... Culloden had just said that to make herself feel better.
It had been a long, conflicting travel through the castle.
But she had finally reached her destination and plopped down on one of the sofas on her stomach, letting out a long, miserable sigh as she unrolled a sheet of parchment in front of her and scribbled out a quick letter to Botros with a self-inking quill. When she was finished, she felt a lot better and she was actually SMILING. He was going to love it, wasn't he? He had to.
Rolling the parchment back up, she struggled to push herself into a sitting position, her arms wobbly, but she had a good stretch upon sitting up and felt better. Flicking her wand from its holster, she set the letter next to her and focused on her next task at hand - the other part of her present for Botros. She tried really hard to envision a really beautiful, colorful, wonderful bouquet of flowers, swished her wand in a circle, spoke, "Orchideous," and used her free hand to catch a bouquet that actually didn't look too shabby! One of the flowers looked like it was wilting already, but Sophie just put her wand away, plucked that flower from the bouquet, and pocketed it.
There. Perfect.
Rising to her feet with her rolled-up parchment and flowers in hand, the second year set the flowers down gently right beside the door and slid the letter half underneath it so it wouldn't roll away or anything. He would definitely see that, right? He... wasn't going to step on it or kick it over or anything? All the petals were colorful enough that she thought she was safe, buuut... she was still a little nervous. Her other option was to wait until the man himself arrived from the dungeons, but... who knew when the party would even be over? She wasn't going to wait around for hours, so Sophie dug her hands into her pockets a little sadly and sauntered off toward the Ravenclaw tower once more.
Oichi wanted to see the Ancient Runes professor because it was one of her favorite subjects and she was very confused about the way a professor was teaching it for the first time in all her years. She just wanted a few things better clarrified so she could better understand Ancient Runes in general. Thus she sat outside the office and waited for the professor.

Botros just got back from outside, it was freezing and he didn't expect to find a student waiting for him in this time of year. Most students were off to their homes during the holidays, maybe some of them were back to school early. "Good afternoon, dear." He smiled at the Gryffindor and ushered for her to follow him into the office. "Come on in, it's nippy out here." Even with all the enchantment going on in the castle, a fire was irreplaceable.
"What can I do for you?" He held the door open to let her in.

Botros was fairly clean, and was in much better spirits than his colleagues as he headed up to his office. When he approached his office's door, he was yawning and stretching and-- wait, flowers? Botros blinked once, then smiled picking them up and realizing there was a letter underneath the bouquet. Aw! What an unexpected surprise after being pelted with foul creamy pies.
He opened the door to his office, tucked the flowers under his arm and unfolded the parchment eagerly. Aww! It was from Ms. Brown! Botros took a seat behind his desk and started reading the letter, the flowers sat in his lap.

Now that the meeting was over, Atticus headed up several flights of stairs to reach the Ancient Runes professor's office. Glancing at the noticeboard as he passed by, he was reminded just how difficult he'd found the subject when he was a student here. Merlin, he was glad he didn't have to do any of that any more, and he sympathized with the students who still had to while suffering whatever illness that had taken over here. They had a good professor though, so perhaps the subject, at least, wasn't all bad.
Once he reached the door, he politely knocked twice and then waited. No need for him to sit, the professor was in his office, yes?

Botros, with his wand pointed at the old scroll of runes, looked up at the door from where he was seated. "Come in!" He called to whoever was polite enough to knock only twice. If this was Tempus, he'd make it sound like a musical piece, if this was Marco, he'd knock and talk nonstop behind the door, any other students were unlikely to visit him at this hour of the day.
Dressed in a black shirt with a purple skull wrapped in thorns, Nate casually walked down the Ancient Runes Hallway. Normally he wouldn't be caught dead walking down this Hallway unless it was to get to his class. Otherwise you would NEVER find him down this particular corridor. This was a rare occasion though. Nate had to ask the Professor a few questions. It could help solve a theory that his one friend, Caelyn, came up with. Though according to her theory the Time Thief is actually the Ancient Runes teacher in disguise. There were some minor kinks to that as of now, but it hasn't been completely thought up yet. With Nate's help they would get to the bottom of this.
As he approached the door he had to take a deep breath. His expression couldn't say much, otherwise that would give away there theory. If worse came to worse Nate would just make up some story. Not big deal, right? What was the worst that could happen? After he made sure he looked cool, calm, and collected, Nate knocked on the door three short times.

Botros.
Ella had something for him and she'd forgotten to give it to him during their last lesson so she figured she ought to make the trip up to his office, even if it had been an extremely long and painful one. And so the eighteen year old hobbled her way up to the fifth floor, heaving a sigh of relief when she spotted the double couch situated outside of the rune man's office. That looked just...really comfy. Really.
After knocking three times gently on the door, the Head Girl wandered over and sat down slowly, squirming in her seat until she was comfortable. And then she let her head lean back against the cushion and closed her eyes. She was just...resting them. She certainly wasn't going to fall... ... ...

Tap, Tap, Tap!
Botros was in his office. "Come in!" He called from inside, the door was not locked.

She was at a carnival. It was summertime and a gentle breeze was making her hair fan out behind her as she headed towards the bumper cars. One hand held candy floss while the other was holding on to Alec's. She turned to him to ask what color car he wanted to drive when he called her Miss Bishop. Miss Bishop? ...Miss Bishop...Miss--
O___O
Ella's eyes fluttered open and she blinked at Botros, feeling extremely confused. "I didn't..I mean.." She looked around, wondering why the Professor was in the Hufflepuff common room. Maybe he'd wanted to--Wait, this wasn't the common room. Her eyes widened at this realization and she sat up suddently, smoothing her clothes. "I'm sorry I..I didn't mean to fall asleep. Must have been tired."

Well THIS was embarrassing.
Botros chuckled lightly and rubbed the girl's arm, "It's alright, dear. Come, let's get inside, those chairs aren't very comfy, believe me I know." When he had them weary bones. Which... was sad that she had to experience this. Botros supported her to get up, keeping his arm looped around hers (awkwardly because of the height difference) and guided them both towards his office's door.
