The Snakes sit under a brand new silver and green banner representing their house. Their solid, shiny wooden table is nicely polished with all the place settings perfectly set. The food will arrive after the Headmistress' traditional start-of-term speech. To all Slytherins, both new and old: welcome to Hogwarts!

Before he realized it he was being tackled. Yes tackled, By WEST. WEST HAD JUST TACKLED HIM! He chuckled rather loudly and grinned. Noticing a badge on the uniform of the Captain. Hey that said, Captain. Cool. He'd missed a lot in one term. "Yep, I'm back and here to stay." Yep, Yep. Fist bump? oh yeah. He took West up on the fist bump. "I'm doing great. What about you, Captain Odessa?" Raising an eyebrow. He was very proud of him, very.
West settled into the seat, having decided it would do just fine at least until Theo started to panic over there with those little kids.
"I'm... alright." Yeah actually. Could be worse? Yeah. "Glad to be back at school anyways." Brows. "You're signing up right?" For Quidditch obviously. He could do with Asher on the team and there were at least four spots open. At least. And that wasn't counting what might happen if better players come along or if any of last term's team decided not to play this year.

That had been just about the longest and most fun (pfft) train ride Ascanius had ever had to suffer through, yeah? S'just filled with children who liked to stare at him and others who were making him play hot seat with the compartments. But now he was back in the comfort of the castle and Great Hall. Slytherin Table was familiar territory.
Slipping into his usual seat he scanned the table for the usual faces, which he saw...all asides Snaps. Typical. She was bringing up the rear, no doubt.
Well, as fun as the whole day was shaping up to be...Ascanius just really wanted his bed, yeah? It was that time.

Asher grinned. "That's good." Things seem to be good. He was here. They were here sounded good to him. "Yeah, its good to be back here." Yeah, It was way better than Italy schools, the students were way different than here, they sucked.
Quidditch? Yes, Please. Another thing that sucked about Italy. "I was planning on it." Go to try-outs and see how it goes from there. It would great Playing in the summer league was great, and helped him out to get back in to shape.

"You should've just stayed." West said. Honestly he'd missed Asher plenty. Because once on the team, always on the team. Or that was how West felt anyway. He had a fondness for all his teammates, past, present, and future.
Or he would when he knew who they were anyways. Soon enough he would.
"You'll have to give it your all." West said with a grin. "Lots of stiff competition." But he did think that Asher was up to the challenge.

It was weird that Sophie was the only one at the table at the moment - that never happened. There were usually snakes all over the place! Weird. Giving her a head nod and smile as a greeting, he plopped down in a seat next to her and crossed his arms.
Ok food. Whenever you're ready.
So Sophie hated to admit, but she was ALWAYS glad when Caleb came around. She knew she was never alone. Of course she'd never convey these thoughts out loud, but it was nice inner comfort. She noted that Caleb wasn't really too overly-friendly with her either.
She got a head nod. A HEAD NOD. Grrr...

He hadn't forgotten how terribly instrumental she'd been in convincing that Bulgarian witch to give him a pig snout and matching ears. And he'd practiced that spell aaaalll summer long! He moved along the table, passing her twin searching for a seat, though seeming to know exactly where he'd sit.
"Caleb." He greeted using the boy's name as a form of salutation before perching himself near the head of the house table. A place from which he could observe as much of the scene in the great hall as possible including the staff table.
The staff table...Where was Professor Dursely??!! Cutty did not approve.
Cutty had been watching the sorting action from his well-selected perch at the end of the Slytherin table. The same seat he had taken at the end-of-term feast earlier that year. He would've regarded the whole thing as an invitation to practice predation had he not met Cassia Somerlad the previous year. It was a great deal more beneficial to enlist than to hinder. At least, for her benefit.
"Hello." Was his clear and calm greeting. "Welcome to Slytherin house." Perhaps it was more creepy than inviting. Cutty would hardly know the difference. "Cutty Mordaunt." He said introducing himself and extending a hand towards the newest inductee to the house that Salazar built.
Sophie was still stewing over the fact that her brother greeted her with a HEAD NOD, when she felt her hair suddenly flick to the side before fluttering back down again. She whirled around and saw...
OH MERLIN. You mean they let him come back?! WHY?!
...and he'd flicked her hair, which made her even madder than Caleb's head nod. What really set the mood was when he spoke to Caleb and some new girl and still...all she got was a hair flick.
A head nod and a hair flick.
"What is WITH the boys at this school?!" she exclaimed, turned around to face whoever was within her eyesight on Cutty's opposite side.
Oh. Hello, Quidditch captain.

Sophie was still in a bad mood, but even that didn't cloud her ability to see a good chance to suck up to somebody a bit higher up than she was. The new house prefect. Cutty shook his head, still wearing that over-confident smile. "No, actually. But you were playing with your bracelet and that could be a nervous habit. Also, you're not more than twelve, right? So it wasn't terribly likely that you had the chance to travel apart from your parents. Unless they happen to be divorced like mine are. I've been to places without them. Just got back from Canada." Cutty checked in his mind to register how this could've sounded. He was going for personable. "So are you loaded or what?" Was the boys random question as he strategically drew out a chocolate frog from his robes. When, oh when was that feast going to start?
Beverly instantly stopped playing with her bracelet. She hadn't even noticed she had been twirling the small black beads. This Cutty guy was impressive in an observer kind of way. Though, he was wrong about something.
"I actually just turned thirteen," she said, feeling her face grow warm. Did she not look like a teenager, yet? Maybe it was the no make-up thing. "But you're not entirely wrong. This is my first time away from my family." She didn't mention her mother was dead because the last thing she needed was to get all sentimental. "My dad's a bit on the over-protective side." A "bit" was putting it lightly.
She was about to ask about Canada -- she's only known Scotland so other countries intrigued her -- when Cutty asked a very random question. Following his motions she saw the chocolate frog and understood. Oh, that kind of loaded. "I ate all of mine on the train. But..." She reached into her pocket and drew out a few left over flavored beans. "I have these." Popping one into her mouth she considered sharing. He was from her house so... "Want one?"

Oh. It was that Caleb guy. Ooh yes. She remembered him talking about being in Slytherin. She laughed a little to herself. It was a very good thing that she hadn't brought that hufflepuff scarf. She would really not need it right now. Could do with a Slytherin one though. She would owl her mother tomorrow and get to buy her one. "Oh... Hey Caleb." Was his sister around? Grace laughed when the older girl called her Thor. It was funny. They were so totally cool. Loki and Thor. "WOooot." She giggled, before high fiving the girl. "Not really...." She murmured, shrugging. "It's only a house..." And she didn't care too much. She could be her own person now.

"Oh, you know. Basic stuff. Shopping with m'moom in Diagon Alley, studying magic in Egypt. That sort of thing." Caleb struck Cutty as academic or at least, highly invested in his own education and yes, the smarter twin. So with this reasoning, Cutty made the descision to leave the details of the watersport activities done with his Dad's side of the family at Lake Okanagan on the cutting room floor thinking that he might get a better reaction out of Caleb by mentioning the learning bit.

Be friendly. Right. Okay. Go...
"Hi," she said with a tiny wave. Gosh, that took so much effort.
So Beverly Wayne was actually thirteen, h'mm? That was even better. He had thought that she, being a recent sortee was a first year, which meant that there'd be a prefect between her and Cassia in his original plan. But, then...if Beverly was a thirteen, she'd have to have been in her third year, but this was her first time apart from her parents. Perhaps she'd been homeschooled up until this point.
"Yeah!" His response was enthusiastic. Cutty shoved away his chocolate frog back into his pocket and partook of the beans offering actively hoping to draw a bogey flavoured one.
"You just saved me sellable product!" He took a handful of beans and popped a toxic looking orange one into his mouth...alas, simple tangerine. "Come see me later, I can offer you a discount for that. Oh! I own and operate my own sweets selling business, by the way. You know, something for the student whose parents won't let them go to Hogsmeade or the older kids pulling all-nighters who've gone through their stock." He told her whilst taking himself totally seriously.
"So when you say your dad is over-protective, whadyya mean?" He had decided to ignore for the moment the unanswered question about money, for it might answer itself and she had already provided him with some information as to whether or not she might be a good client.
Charlotte made her way to the Slytherin house table but on the way over there, she realized that she didn't know anyone there. Jun and Tag were the only people she knew at Hogwarts and neither of them were in Slytherin. Maybe this was why her mother had had them homeschooled for so long -- making friends was weird and hard.
Lottie watched the other students interact and laugh and she didn't know what to do. She was going to be that weird girl sitting around people she didn't know, not talking to anyone. Great. Eventually, she sat down somewhere towards the end of the table and stared at the empty plate in front of her, making sure not to look at anyone. She figured if she just didn't look at anyone, no one would notice how many friends she didn't have.

"Nice badge, Prefect Somerlad." He said as if his heart wasn't racing at this the exciting confirmation of his plot to make Cassia the house prefect in a post-Hudson Slytherin House. He could hardly wait to explore the possibilities of anything this could mean, but mostly he couldn't wait to be the acting Al-Vizier of the lower classmen. He rather thought the position would suit him well and how could he be denied when it was he who implemented the whole thing.
It was faces like those she missed during the summer. Despite her seeing most of her friends, she now felt that those whom she called ickles had their own presence and effect in her life which she got used to during her school months but missed when she was at home. "I actually did. It was fun." she told him.
"Glad you like it," she winked at him lifting her hand and adjusting it uselessly since it hadn't tilted since she last checked its angle. "You ready for your second year?" she asked him knowing that he'd know she wasn't talking in an academic prospect.

"Thank you," Beverly returned shyly. "I'm Beverly Wayne...I'm new." LAME. Someone curse her now. >.<
"Nice to meet you, Beverly." Cassia responded registering the name. The second piece of information wasn't necessary though since the blond had already figured it out. She could now humbly say that she'd recognize all of her house-mates if not by name then by look. Cue why she introduced herself. Something she usually did even before the badge was given to her.
Though, Cassia now was curious about another thing. "What year are you?" she opted for not guessing out loud because surprisingly some took it personally when reckoned as younger or older.

"Nice to meet you Theo. Just wanted to say hi to the house prefect and all," he said with a polite smile. He really hoped this kid wasn't prefect last year, because it would be SO EMBARRASSING for Caleb if it turned out that he should have been having this conversation with him last year and he didn't and forgot and oh Merlin. That'd be just so embarrassing.
"Yeah, you too." He perked up a little bit because he was being recognized as someone special. Yes, damn straight, he IS the Slytherin prefect. BOW DOWN. Anyway. "Are you new?" He looked kinda young and Theo definitely hadn't seen him before, so... basic assumptions and stuff.

Slytherin...
Mother said she'd probably be Slytherin. She wasn't happy though when she spotted the little brat and her brother at the same table... She was going to sit as far from the brat as possible.
Greeeeaaaat...
She was hoping to see the two boys that were on the train with her. So she looked around hoping to spot them.
Probably going to be one of only a few posts here, but feel free to say hi to 'Lulah.
YOUR Nixy. || Prefect Rainbows! || Deniz'in Müzik Kardeşi
FOOD PLS.
Tallulah trotted into the Great Hall with a pencil and her smallest sketch pad in her pockets, and still without any friends. Shame. It was only as she approached her favoured spot at the table (which was a few seats away from the fireplace) that she remembered their Head of House had left last term. Good. She didn't like her much, anyway. Though... did they already know who was taking over from her? Or would they just have to wait to find out? Maybe the prefects already knew who it was. She couldn't go and ask them now, though. The Badges seemed to be stuck in their little private circles already. Bah.
She sat down and smiled at the students who were nearby, then focused her attention on the staff table. There were a couple of new faces, who Tallulah decided she needed to learn the names of - soon. None of them would be their new head, though. She took out her sketch pad and doodled absent-mindedly, while watching the teachers every so often.
From his perch, Cutty noticed two older girls join the table. They weren't faces he'd seen last term so he assumed them to be new or transfers. Ooh, perhaps even more transfers from Beauxbatons with whom he could carry out rude conversations. From time to time he would glance at them, sizing them up, deciding how best to approach, until finally he said, "Welcome to Slytherin." Cause that's what we said, right? The boy was incapable of using empathy to deduce why it was said, but he remembered it was said to him last year and simply observed it being used this year.

She watched as Caleb greeting Theo next and contained her chuckle. Did Theo know that all those kids would be looking up to him or maybe just stick around to know the secrets of how he earned the badge on his chest.
Cassia wondered if she looked that small when she was Sophie's age. She probably was. Especially that she'd always been short for her age unlike the second-year here. "Yeah. Fun time flies by," the sixth-year nodded all knowingly. "It was quite enjoyable, yes," she agreed amused and wanting to point out that the badge news came at the end of summer but then deciding against it.
While she was at it, the prefect watched as another newly-sorted girl joined the table with something like a smirk on her face. Here's someone that fitted their house. "Welcome to Slytherin," Cassia smirked right back at the girl in a what she meant as a greeting. Not intending to scare kids away of course.
Cutty was trying hard to maintain a calm veneer, but Cassia's mentioning of being ready for his second year, had the little secundo suppressing what was sure to be a quite greasy little smile. "Yeah! Can't wait for it!"
He had so many little plans in his little monkey brain.

But nope... here they were, forever spoiling his peace. Mentioning Quidditch was an okay call for an ice breaker, though. Theo shrugged, "So did I." He really didn't follow professional Quidditch as much as he should. Apart from the Under 17's matches of course. Because that was his team, which felt extremely weird to say.
Just don't brag about it....

"Would rather play than watch, then? I get ya! Tell me you punched those quaffles all summer as you did during the Slytherin Gryffindor match? They were like, 'Yeah! We're gonna score for Gryffindor!' and you were like, 'No, ya not, mate!'" His voice grew a little bit higher as if excited by his own instant-replay and to show what he read as Kinsley's confidence on the pitch. Cutty even added an arm-led gesture as he spoke to simulate what he felt was close to the one he'd seen Theo make that day.
There was no way Cutty was leaving Theo alone now, cause Slytherin was gonna win some games this term and if they were gonna lose then Cutty was gonna make money. Although, in either case it helped to know the horse.

Annabel heard once again, another voice welcoming her to Slytherin, she was smirking back to her. "Thank you," she said curtly, "I'm Annabel, but you may call me Anna." They'd get along just fine, she thought.

Annabel spotted the older girl out of the corner of her eye. She looked nervous, slightly afraid and completely ridged. Was she okay? "Hello, I'm Annabel, but you may call me Anna, you are?" she asked, her voice seemed cold, but she didn't mean to right? She seemed a lot older, but not familiar with the group, just like herself.

Annabel heard a voice and turned to see a girl introducing herself as Sophie. She looked over her apperance quickly and then smirked a little more, she wasn't too bad, "I'm Annab, but please...call me Anna," she said, holding out her hand to shake.

"Hi," she said with a tiny wave. Gosh, that took so much effort.
Another person welcoming her. She seemed slightly scared, but it doesn't matter right? "I'm Annabel, but call me Anna, and you are?" She didn't want her words to seem so snobby, but they still came out that way.
Grace laughed when the older girl called her Thor. It was funny. They were so totally cool. Loki and Thor. "WOooot." She giggled, before high fiving the girl. At least she had one friend that was a snake. Her other friends with Lions and Eagles. Uh oh. They better not try to eat her. Though she doubted that her best friends would want to eat her. Because one they were her best friends, and two there was gonna be a huge feast soon. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
"Not really...." She murmured, shrugging. "It's only a house..." And she didn't care too much. She could be her own person now.
HAH! Grace was COOL. They were a COOOL duo. Mhmm.. Loki and Thor. Brothers in arms... or at warrr.
But despite the pair being able to bond over muggle culture, it was a whole new experience for Amber to have a female friend. Amber was a tomboy.. and it showed: short hair; combat boots; a liking for sports and x-box games and 'boy'-films. At Durmstrang she had migrated towards boys as friends, or older girls. Her idol was a girl though: the Captain of Quidditch team who ran it like the players were army recruits. She was the toughest person, after her mum, who Amber knew. So all in all, Grace's company and friendship was a WHOLE new experience.. but one that Amber welcomed with open arms.
And Grace wasnt too bad for a girl..
Amber high fived Grace and laughed. YES. It was only a house. "That's good." She nodded, and added. "You totally rock the green." She TOTALLLLY did.
"So where were you before here?" She asked her new comrade with interest. "Did you go to a muggle school?"

Charlotte heard a boy's voice welcoming her to the house and she looked up to find the face that was talking to her and whoever else had just joined the table. She smiled at him, finally making eye contact with someone, and making sure she tried her best to be friendly. "uh..thanks." She had no idea who this guy was but she had a feeling he must have been part of a welcoming committee or something. People didn't just welcome random students..did they? "oh..and..hi?" Because saying hi was good manners, right?

Just then a young girl, about the age of her youngest brother, began talking to her. Maybe this was a thing, maybe people at Hogwarts were just nice and spoke to people they didn't know? And Lottie was positive this girl had way more manners than she did, introducing herself and proper grammar and all. She kept her smile up and nodded at this girl. "Hi, Anna. I'm..well, uh..you can call me Charlie or Lottie, your choice." There was no point in even mentioning that her name was Charlotte. Maybe if she stopped saying it, people would stop trying to call her it. "It's nice to meet you." As long as this girl, Anna, was nice and not too hyper, even though she's probably eleven, she and Charlotte would be just fine.
Asher nodded, "Yeah, I Know." Truthfully he had stupid and selfish. Mostly stupid. Yep. Anyway he was back now. That was all that mattered. He wasn't going anywhere. He had a whole year to make up for being gone.
He grinned back and smirked "Oh! You know I will. You know I will." He said with another nod. He looked around, once he heard the room get quiet. That could only mean one thing. Truebridge was about to make her speech. He listened to the headmistress as she talked. Then it was over and they could eat.
Fooood!!!! Glorious food. "I've been looking forward to this feast all summer!" As he dug into his plate.

"Nice to meet you Lottie!" she smiled friendly for once, it was a lot harder than her brother had made it seem. "What year are you in?" she asked curiously, she seemed older than her but not too old. She seemed nice and quite enough, she didn't usually talk to others, but now that Hogwarts was her home, she might as well make the best of it, right? Lottie seemed fun but collected as well.
She watched him eat the jelly bean, secretly hoping he'd gotten one of the extreme flavours, like vomit or something. It'd be amusing. Not that'd she say it.
Popping another bean into her mouth she grinned a tiny bit to herself. "Pizza," she mumbled. Pizza was always great. Giving him a curious gaze, Bev took in what Cutty was saying. "So...you're like Hogwarts personal candy man?" Sure sounded like it, and it wasn't a bad thing. In fact, having a candy person this close to restock on sweets was a pretty darn good thing.
Oh, he was actually curious about that? Her over-protective dad. "Erm, well..." How does one explain years of living a sheltered life in a simple sentence? "I meant that he protects me from like, everything." Even dust bunnies, hence the really nice and charmed robes. "But he does it because he cares. I'm his youngest child." She shrugged.
It was reasonable. Grandmother protected uncle Xavier the most because he was the youngest (even if he was an old man). And uncle Xavier protected stupid Peyton because she was his youngest daughter. Reasonable.
The obvious reason tugged at the back of her mind, but she wasn't going there. Nope.

Beverly nodded politely. Of course it was nice to meet her, she had manners and came from great family, not that Cassia would know, and not that Beverly wanted to go all out with that. It'd be odd if she just started to talk about her family out of nowhere to a person she didn't know.
Once again she wondered if she didn't look her age. Maybe this was some sort of small talk thing. "A third year." Silence. "... You?"
O for effort. Yay.

Pretty name, Bev thought. It was simple with a nice short name to go along with. Not that her name was ugly, it just wasn't as feminine.
And this girl was acting like a Slytherin. Somehow that made things better for the third year. Had she been behaving like a Hufflepuff...then they'd have a problem.
"Okay, Anna," she said. Then remembered to grin. Yeah, grinning was friendly. Merlin. "I'm Beverly Wayne...third year.... How about you?"

Not that she ever didn't want to go to Hogwarts, because all she wanted was to not be homeschooled, but she was starting to think that attending this school of magic was a pretty good idea. Why in the world had her brother ever hated it for the first two years? Anna really did seem like a very nice girl. "I'm aaaa....fourth year? Granted, she was going to be fifteen in October so in her head she should have been a fifth year but she wasn't in any rush to become an adult so it hardly even bothered her.
"I'm assuming you're a first year?" She knew better than to assume these things, especially since Lottie herself was only five feet tall and was often mistaken for a preteen, but there was just something about Anna that screamed first year. If she was wrong, she would apologize, of course, but she was pretty positive that she was right.
Admiratrice des Maraudeurs | C-Rizzle | THE Best Snuggler
Marigold had come over to the Slytherin table for no apparent reason, except for a little tiny reason called ogling West. He was a MUSICIAN and pretty attractive too. So Marigold just kinda STOOD there and STARED at him. Luckily there wasn't much movement on her part, otherwise she would probably flail.
