Send an Owl Post Come send a note or letter using your own owl or any of the school owls. Owls line the walls in nooks and on branches. Pellets, old animal skeletons, and belladonna berries are on the floor. There are a few pieces of parchment, a ragged quill, and a dried-up bottle of ink on an old wooden desk in the corner should you need to add a postscript to your letter. |
Ick. It was totally a risk coming up here to borrow one of the school owls. A risk to nice shoes, because of the mess on the floor. Charlie tried to avoid the thought of that, though, and focused instead on the owls. Because they were gorgeous, and apart from thank-you nips she got after giving them treats, she could totally get on board with having one. If ever her mother would allow it. For now, however, as she attached letters to her parents and sisters onto each of three separate owl legs, she contented to let her cat slink his way between her legs. |

There was totally gossip begging for TristyD too, but that was in secret and in code. Special colour code. Plus in big crayon letters on the back in case he was incapable of understanding her code. The code she'd made up merely hours ago and hadn't asked for his input on. Heading up towards the owlery to give Badger her letters, Els skipped up the steps belting the words to The Ugly Bug Ball (ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE OF COURSE) like it was her job. She sang this around the castle all too much, but it didn't seem to bother her at all, and so she continued. Possibly getting louder as she advanced up the stairs. "GOTTA CRAWL, GOTTA CRAWWWWWWL" TO THE SILLY LITTLE OWL LA LA LA LA LA LAAAA. |
Nope, Hayley Ann Diggory wasn't here to visit with her owl, because she didn't have one. She was simply here to send off a letter to her parents and auntie Alexis and uncle Fred, and of course, there was a bit in each letter for someone to tell or read to her little brother, sister, and cousins. She missed them all already, so, so much. As an afterthought, Hayley realized she could visit with the school owls, since they didn't really have owners - the school owned them, obviously, and she doubted neither the Groundskeeper or the Care of Magical Creatures professor had enough time to visit with the owls more often than just to make sure they were all eating well, and none were injured. She would have to remember that, and make time to spend with the owls. Now to send her letter. "Will one of you come down here, please?" The small girl called out, blue-grey eyes on the many owls perched on branches much too high for her. |

Making his way up the stairs after wandering and exploring for a bit, the Gryffindor headed onto the room at the landing that was clearly the domain of their fine-feathered friends. There were tons ranging from the school owls and the creatures that were owned by his fellow students. How was he to find Conrad among them...he mused to himself as he approached the alcoves. But it seemed he didn't have to as the owl in question fluttered down, landing near a young girl who was standing there. "Hey boy," Ben greeted. |
Gwen had been here almost a week, and still hadn't sent a letter home. What was she supposed to say that they would understand? If she hadn't been dropped into the middle of this ocean of information, she never would have learned to swim through all of it. Everything she said was going to sound foreign to them. Finally she had just buckled down and composed a letter this morning. Well, two letters. One for everyone, and one just for her twin. SPOILER!!: letter to family SPOILER!!: Iestyn Now to get one of those owls to deliver it. Gwen smiled sweetly at a brown owl, and beckoned him over to her. He flew away. She turned to see another owl, regarding her as if she was the strange one. He flew over and grabbed her letters and took off. "Hey!" Gwen shouted, leaning out of the window to try and catch it. The stupid bird had just stolen her letters! She sighed. There was nothing she could do about it now besides hope that it took the papers back to her family. |
Caelen entered the owlery with her journal gripped in her hand tightly. She couldn't wait to send letters to all of her friends at home. All five of them. Including her parents. Being a homeschooled kid did not lead to eighties school style popularity. Anyway, she needed to send the letters. She had to tell EVERYONE about the things that had already happened. She didn't spend a bunch of time writing these for nothing. She crossed the floor -careful not to step on any skeletons and such- and chose the owl she was going to need. Perfect. Petting the owl on the head, the eleven year old quickly stuck her journal in her armpit and got the piece of ribbon off of her finger. She was going to have to tie the letters, after all. And then taking the journal away from her armpit, she opened it up and tore two pages out. The child wanted to read over them again. She had made some edits and wanted to make sure it sounded cool. Rockwell, Hey, dude! I'm having loads of fun at Hogwarts, though nothing really started up yet. I didn't go out for quidditch this year -you saw that coming, right?- but I might if I don't fly like a trainwreck next year. Maybe staying in a straight line would help. And I'm not a Slytherin. Sadly. I'm actually a Ravenclaw, and I currently have no idea what that means. Can you tell me? And don't give me any stupid anwsers either! I'm watching you. This might sound weird, but can you please send me newspaper clippings from both mom and dad. I wanna know what's going on both in our stupid Muggle town and in the cool wizarding place. So if you could get that done, that would be cool. Like really cool. And I guess if you send me at least four per week -doesn't have to be in different days- you can have one piece of my chocolate stash per week till I get back. And, has mom come back yet? Last I heard from dad she had, but dad isn't the most reliable sorce of news. I feel really bad about this, so please don't tell me if she's mad. Has dad became the housewife yet? If so, prank him for me. Your annoying little sister, -Caelen Winters P.S- You know how to send these back, so just do what you need to do. The redhead nodded. That one sounded good. Twisting the ribbon around her fingers, she broke it and gently tied the letter to the owl's leg. Hopefully that was how it was done. Because she had no other options. Now she just needed the one for her mom. Dear mom or dad, I miss you lots. Like so much I can barely stand it. But I'm on my own adventure now and I need to go on it. Good news; I'm in Ravenclaw. Maybe the luck just skips a generation? I promise I've played no pranks on anyone and I'm conducting myself well at Hogwarts. I can't wait till everything gets into full swing. I'm so excited! So much magicky stuff to learn! Tell Auntie I said hi. And make her bake me cookies for when I get home please. Her cookies always taste delicious. Love, Caelen She tied the second letter, and knelt down near the owl. "If you take these letters and peck my family until they give me one back, I'll give you four sickles." And the owl took off. Easy buy off. |
Dear Heather Malfoy 1 Sweat was dripping from the boy's face by the time he'd reached the Owlery. He literally ran all the way from the lower depths of the castle to the tower carrying a quill, ink and parchment in his still small fists and he deemed the matter so urgent that he skidded to a halt, his trainers making a squeaky sound right before one of the writing desks-devil care who might've been using it at the time. He spread out the parchment, somewhat getting the crumpled bits from where he was grabbing it out, shakily opened the ink bottle and dipped his quill in and went to town. Text Cut: Cutty's Owl And here, Cutty had stopped to take a breath and re-dip his quill into the ink bottle. Text Cut: Rest of the Owl Quick like a mamba, he whipped the parchment out in the air to dry it, rolled it up and sent it on it's way before leaving the Owlery himself. Alright. Now all he had to do was get really good at flying on his new broom, really freakin' fast. |
Ben =3 Hayley wasn't exactily sure what she'd expected to happen, since these owls weren't Hector or Pippy, not a single one knew her or had any connection to her whatsoever, and yet one flew down quite close to her - as if he or she had understood her request. Mouth opened slightly in a silent gasp, Hayley quickly smiled. What a polite owl! "I have some treats with me," The small girl started saying rather fast as she reached into her pocket with her empty hand to pull a few out pellets, only to be startled by a voice that sounded also quite close. A boy's voice. Hey boy? He better have been referring to the owl, because Hayley was no boy. He could clearly see her somewhat long brown hair, and the clips in it, right? Surely, he could. Sinking her teeth into her lower lip, the young Ravenclaw allowed her gaze to travel toward the boy in question. Yep, definitely talking to the owl. It was his. "You can still have a couple of treats." Hayley spoke directly to the owl, eyes redirected on him before she looked back to the boy with flushed cheeks. "If it's okay with you. I thought he was a school owl." |
Lex and Lucas! <3 With an already written letter in her hand, Abbi rapidly walked across the corridor heading towards the owlery. There was something URGENT REAL URGENT that she needed to tell her mommy but she didn't want anybody else to know about it, that's why she wrote the letter before in her dormitory. See! She had brains. She KNEW people had a higher chance of seeing if she wrote her letter afterwards whilst surrounded by owls. Who knew maybe even the owls would be able to understand what that letter said. That was be outrageous! Well at least she didn't have to walk up all those seven flights of stairs. Hogwarts seemed to have really needed an elevator. Gosh! Poor Puffs and Snakes having to climb so much just to get here, but then they were closer to the food. SO not fair! Either way for now, the second year was happy it only took her a few minutes to finally reach the owlery. Did it look like she had time to waste? Did it? "Now which one of you is sneaky?" She peeked at the bird, trying to choose the right owl. |
The thing was that Lucas knew really well that telling his parents about school was only going to make him feel more pitiful than he already did. He was drowning in all the knowledge they were making them learn and yet he felt really wimpy and stupid admitting it, even in a letter. Despite his muted existential crisis, he did see the redhead standing next to the roost and stopped short as he heard her speak. Sneaky? Sneaky? "What would you need a sneaky owl for?" he whispered, his eyes widening when he realised the thought he'd thought had not been a thought at all but an exclamation. Whoops. "Oh, um, sorry, didn't mean to.. uh.. carry on?" |
Hmmm...no that one looked like a Hufflepuff, that one looked like a lamo, but that one. Mhhm. Looked like a good sneaky owl. She was no owl expert, and didn't exactly intend on studying each owl inside the owlery but there was something about animal's looks that Abbi tended to understand. It was passed from her mother, they were both animal people, just maybe her mother was a bit more gentle with them. But could you blame the second year for being a loud one? That's who she was. Her whole choosing process had only taken a few second and just as she began standing on her tip toes to reach for the owl, somebody had spoken. Abbi waited for the owl to walk onto her covered arm and eventually turned around. Nosy people. Dramatic Sigh. Wait. Good looking nosy people. BUT COOTIES! She needed to pretend she still believed in them. Nope, no going near the boy, cause no touchy touchy. Not till she was thirteen, not even Donny was allowed to hold her hand just yet. "It's none o-" Oh...he was realising his foolishness. Clever boy. Mhhm! "Who are you anyways?" Just because she didn't like nosy people, didn't mean Abbi wasn't a nosy one herself. |
Lucas didn't do well with conflict. Like at all and he knew (had been told so many times he pretty much knew the speech off by heart) that being nosy was wrong and resulted in yelling. Which was why he flinched as if he'd been dumped in cold water and took a protective step back away from her. She was little but she looked.. fierce. But instead of yelling came a question. A really easy question. And he blinked. And blinked again. "I'm L-Lucas," he supplied, after a lengthy pause. "Sorry, uh. About before?" Maybe that would at least postpone the yelling. "And uh, you are?" And if she didn't tell him that he'd be forced to mentally refer to her as Sneaky!Owl girl. But that was a preeeeeettty cool nickname, when he thought about it. |

Abbi placed her letter inside the owl's claws and shooed it away. "To the usual place yeah, Owlie?" NO ways she was mentioning the word 'mom' now that would make her cool meter go from one hundred to negatives, never mind zero. Was that a sorry? This just got even better. A smirky smile formed on the girl's lips. "It's totally okay!" Just this time, you know she had plenty more sass if it was ever needed, but she knew not to waste it on the poor boy. He did seem truly sorry after all, and good looking people so deserved better treatment. Maybe that's why people always treated her nicely...or did they? Whatever...she didn't need people to anyways. "The names Abbi...actually Abigail Bailee Campbell." Proof that she had a full name and not a half one, yes. "Have I seen you before?" |

His eyes went the size of sauces and he took a ginger step towards her, "wait a mo, you're not like some sort of spy right?" He'd been regaled with enough stories, from his parents, about their careers as Aurors, he wasn't taking no chances! She looked a little Eastern European (maybe she'd dyed her hair, sneaky sneaky!) or like... Russian. Or just generally sneaky. Which made the whole 'sneaky Owl business' more sensible considering she was probably the child of a spy. Or maybe a spy herself. Huh. That was actually pretty cool. "That would be cool," he informed her. "Like really cool. Is that why you need a sneaky owl?" Huh, the 'usual place'. He eyed her and couldn't resist bursting out into a grin. Owlie. Cute. The grin quickly disappeared when she started looking a bit smug at his discomfort. Fanciful stories usually distracted him from his nerves but this was firmly returning him to panic!land. "It is? You're suuuuure?" Uh. Gah. And then she introduced herself. Lucas was learning that this meant people weren't actually completely put off by him. Sometimes. Um. "That's a mouthful. I could call you Owlie." But Lucas followed up the comment with a sincere smile, perhaps a touch too late. "Or Abbi," he quickly corrected just in case she decided she hated nicknames and wanted to kidnap him to her spy lair or something for being rude. |
Was this guy sure he knew his surname? Like who hesitated saying their own name. MHHHM? Abbi gave him cautious eyes but it all faded when she began giggling again. "Rodemiere sounds like 'road them here'." Aaah names there was never one she found boring, not even Bob, it could be such a funny name when you thought of it. Bob. Giggle, yeah okay enough of that. Spy. He thought she was a spy. Now that really had her giggles on repeat. This time when she eventually stopped her face became serious rather than beamy or anything else it was usually. He had said it was cool, and she was totally cool okay? So she was totally a spy too. "SHHHHHHHHHH!" She leaned to whisper in his ear but was very careful not to actually touch him. "You can't tell anybody but I did need that owl because I'm a spy. Are you one too?" And then she pulled back. Top secret stuff, yoh! Top lies too, but hey...she was just messing. Would you look at that smile though. Good looking. She was so browing him with her eyebrows inside her thoughts....but actually no. EW. Yeah good go away smile, she didn't need to look at that grin of his. No. So didn't. "Course I am. When is a girl never sure?" Females over males for the world! Her first reaction to a nickname like that was a sassy one, or at least a sassy facial expression. She gave him one of those raised eyebrows with attitude, that read out 'Who do you think you are?' That little brain of hers worked fast though and in no time she was half smirking again. "Owlie... you could use that as my code name." TOTALLY AWESOME. "You can be Mousie." Yeah she was the boss. Cause owls ate mice, but she wouldn't eat him. Sis no. |
Quote:
The burst into a bunch of laughter before she leaned forward and unceremoniously SHUSHED him. Lucas' eyes widened and he stiffened uncomfortably. "Are you really a spy?" he asked, with a sheepish grin and then shook his head. "Uh, no. I'm no spy. But I won't tell. Pinkie promise." And that was serious stuff! Lucas had definitely had a derivative of that line at some point or another. He was wise enough not to argue with his Mum, he was wise enough not to argue with this girl. "Never." But he couldn't resist grinning just a little because maybe she wasn't so scary after all? Uh no. He took that back. He took that WAY back. Her sass was sassing him. He didn't know it was possible for there to be so much of it packed into one small redhead. "I didn't mean it like that," he replied, quickly. But.. she was over it in half a second. "Right, your spy name." He laughed a bit and then cocked his head to the side, quizzically. "Um. Mousie? Don't Owls eats mice?" Was she insinuating something here? Because he wasn't sure he liked the sound of that. |
SPOILER!!: Hayley The owl hooted in reaction to both students, however as Ben stood directly in front of the area the owls congregated, the bird hopped a few steps closer to his human. Its eyes still watching the girl at mention of treats as if torn between loyalties. Friend or food. Friend or food. It was then that the second year discovered what had happened in confusion as the Ravenclaw attempts to correct the mistake. "Its fine," he assured the girl, understanding how the confusion could be made. It wasn't like they were widely marked by anything that claimed them either as school owls or private pets. And his own familiar had clearly reacted to him when he was behind her enough for the girl not to notice him at all at first. "His name is Conrad and pretty friendly," Ben remarked, adding the last part lest she worry of getting a reaction like a bite. He was pretty docile in all honesty, unless of course one was a mouse or such that was more prey then anything else to the owl. "And my name's Ben." |
Quote:
"Hello, Conrad." The young Ravenclaw said calmly, again turning her gaze from the boy to the owl as he introduced her to his companion. She only nodded at the mention of Conrad being friendly, because she'd suspected as much - and in all honesty, this Diggory girl had little to no fear of creatures, - and the thought had never crossed her mind that he wouldn't be friendly. Since the boy had given his approval already, Hayley unfolded her fingers from her palm and moved her hand closer to Conrad, offering a small handful of owl pellets. Ben. That was the boy's name. Blue-grey eyes moved back toward the boy, her hand still stretched out for Conrad. A smile formed on her lips, and her other hand firmly held onto the letter she still needed to send. "Nice to meet you, Ben. I'm Hayley." |
Goodness it was starting to get cold. Normally she would use her own owl to send post, but he was at home in Hogsmeade, and she had multiple letters to send. So it was that Tiara Tyner tromped up the stone-cold steps to the owlery. In her hand were several letters: two going to Quidditch contacts and one to a parent, but all three involving Tobias Tempus. Hooting softly, she called down an owl and attached the letter to Toby's parents. It had been written on official Hogwarts letterhead. SPOILER!!: Letter The first owl took off and she called down two more owls. To the leg of each she attached an identical scroll. Both were going to contacts she had with the British U-17 League. Both were recommending that they come to Hogwarts for a match and scout out Toby for their teams this summer. Pertinent details had been included and she had spent considerable time thinking of the best way to expound upon his talents without drawing out the letter too much. Once all three owls were no more than small dots in the distance, she began the trek back down the stairs and down to her office. |
Dylan made his way with Lux up to the owerly. It had been a long walk, and the boy was nearly out of breath as they walked inside. "Merlin's...beard..." he panted, leaning against the wall for support in case he suddenly collapsed...even though he most likely wasn't. Heh. "There are...a...l-lot of stairs..." he finished, laughing. Once he caught his breath, he looked to his new friend. "You got your letter ready, then?" he asked. He was quite hungry now. It wasn't too great climbing so many stairs on an empty stomach. |
Quote:
Smiling, she nodded at his question. I'll just send it off with my owl, and do you want a Chocolate Frog?"[/b] Maybe he was hungry too. Placing her bag down on the table, she removed her note to her parents asking them if she could spend time over the Christmas holidays with her friends at Sander's house. Now she had to find Luna so she could attach it to her foot. But where was she? |
Quote:
Oh? What was that she said? Chocolate Frog? He raised an eyebrow and his lips curved into a smile and he nodded eagerly. "Oh yes, I'd love one!" he said. Dylan LOVED candy, especially Chocolate Frogs. They were one of his favorites! Lux was such a nice person. |
Quote:
Stopping her search for Luna, she pulled two chocolates out of her bag and handed them to him. "That should help you feel all better!" |
Quote:
Wow, she was real nice! Smiling, he took the Chocolate frogs from her. "Thank you so much! This is really sweet of you." he said to her as he opened up one of the packages. He made a mental note in his head to repay her the next time they went to Hogsmeade and buy her some candy. Quickly catching the frog before it could leap from his grasp, he took a bite off of its head and glanced around the owerly. "So, where's your owl?" he asked when he swallowed. "Or are you using a school one?" |
