Melek beamed at the older girl, really excited about the idea of study sessions. "Oh, Im sorry to hear that." She frowned at the girl and then nodded, "Hmmmm a cauldron cake... nice choice." Melek beamed at her and laughed. "I hope I am pleased with all my classes as well..." Mel looked up at her new role model with a shy smile. She giggled and raised her water goblet, toasting the girl back before grabbing a bite to eat. Melek took a bite and spit it out onto her napkin, "YUCK!" Mel wrinkled her nose at the food that she had just tried, "Does all the food here taste so horrid?" A frown appeared and her tummy growled even more.
Lana gave another smile. Yes, she definitely liked this one and she would be sure to do as much as she could for this eagle. Truly, she hadn't felt protective of the younger 'claws until now and she kind of wanted to take Mel under her wing in a way. It would be a challenge, but she was pretty excited about the possibilities of it. "A huge family of friends," she nodded. When she had first been sorted, Lana had wanted to make a lot of friends; but in the end she only made friends with those on the Quidditch team and she did miss them. It was time for her to make more friends in the time she still had. Plus, if she could get a few more people interested in the whole study sessions with her and Mel; maybe they would have a chance at the house cup again.
"It was really my fault, but at least now I know that I should get up earlier if I want to get things done." There was no way to change what happened that morning, so she wasn't going to dwell on it too much more. "Honeyduke's has some amazing cauldron cakes. I usually get a few to bring back to the dorms after Hogsmeade weekends." Chocolate was definitely on her list for the next trip.
"You'll have fun, I'm sure and when you find a lesson that you like; you will be exposed to so many wonders." She could remember how she left then she realized just how much she enjoy those three lessons. It became more than learning in those lesson, it was more like fun to her than anything else.
Toasting with her newest eagle buddy, she dug in and smiled. The feast was just as she remembered it. It usually never failed to make her smile and she knew it was the start. Glancing over, she took notice to Mel's face and frowned. "It's usually rather tasty. Maybe you got a bad sample," she offered. It wasn't like the house-elves to make anything that was bad tasting.

She smiled brightly and gave them a quick round of applause because, well they deserved it.
She did however stick around for a second to see if any of them wanted to chit chat or had any questions.
Contemplating slightly why Mel's food might have been bad, Lana notice the presence of their Head of House and turned her attention to her. Giving a slight nod, she listened to what their Head had to say and took note of who their Eagle leaders where for the term. She was familiar with all of them. With the mention of Quidditch, she thought for a moment on whether she would try to try-out for fun. It had been years since she last been to a try-out, but maybe one last go was due.

“Hey” she pointed her finger at the guy and tried not to laugh.
“Oh homeschooled cool!” She smiled over to the girl, “I’ve been here for all my terms actually, but my sister India was homeschooled for a term before coming here – after she burnt down the potions lab at the school in Australia” she laughed and smiled to the girl. “Well, welcome to the nest then” she beamed at her.
And then it was Kace, sweet Kace. He was an adorable kid wasn’t he?
“Yeah he does doesn’t he?” She asked smiling over to the kid in question. Right she had that dare to do. And standing up from the table she turned around so that she could be back-to-back with the little Puff. Little, he was almost taller than her.
”MO! Someone! See if this kids taller than me please?” she asked over as loudly as possible. And she’d do the love dare later. Who would her victim be? Or would she be honest. Honest could hurt.
Turning she saw the little girl Hayley walking over to the Ravenclaw table. ”Congratulations!” she called over and still needed someone to measure her itty bitty height.
Just as Lana was about to turn her attention back to Mel, she heard Mika yell out and looked in her direction. She really had no idea what in the world was happening over there. Just by looking, it looked like they were almost the same height but from where she was sitting it wasn't completely possible to be sure just who was taller.
Sighing, she turned back to Mel. "Maybe you should try something else, it all can't be terrible. Right?" The house-elves really hadn't had a bad meal in all her years and it was just hard for her to believe it was possible.

Alex reached her house table and saw Mika and Huxley sitting next to each other. Nearby was that boy Kace from the train and the little Pygmy Puff girl. She sat down near Mika and Huxley, giving them a little wave. They seemed to be deep in conversation and she didn't want to interrupt them. Alex tried to discretely glance around, wondering where Sander might be.

They weren’t like her house.
Not at all.
And then Huxley was sitting next to her and talking to the Grey Lady. And now, she was being blinked at? And well, stared at and leaned closer to. What was going on? She wondered as Huxley whisper-asked her about her hair.
”What? Birds nests?” she asked in a hushed whisper herself, as she had no idea really exactly how much of a mess her hair was. ”I might have stuck my head out of the carriage window” she muttered. Sure it might have been a lie, or it might have been the truth. No one would know this. Yep, except Kaiden…but she wasn’t going to tell people to ask him if she had acted like a dog…nope, because she hadn’t obviously she wasn’t that weird.
And then Alex walked over; she quickly waved over to her and smiled over to her and raised her hand to wave obviously. And to straighten out her hair. Yep, she no longer looked like the victim of a pash & dash. Okay maybe the red cheeks and the fact her hair turned a bit pink might have given it away…but, yeah, she obviously hadn’t done that.
Still turning her attention to Alex she made a big move of smiling over to her. ”Hey Alex,” she smiled over to her before adding another whispered thing to Huxley, ”I’ll tell you later, okay?” she practically muttered.
And then the Grey Lady had responded to her. ”Oh that does sound like a wonderful Summer,” she smiled over to the Grey Lady. ”Yes, you are quite right it went rather well, I myself did quite a bit of reading for pleasure as well as read some of my textbooks.” Okay textbook reading didn’t really happen, but falling asleep on them while she tried to read them did.
”I hope that means there aren’t any turnstiles this term,” Mika muttered under her breath in a hopeful manor. As that had been no fun what so ever. And then Kace was speaking to her again, and well now sitting down next to her. The little puff was just getting beams.
”Aw yeah I’m sorry about that I was kind of a recluse last term,” she admitted with a laugh, ”and well…I think before that I was kind of always off….in the tree house chatting with Kaiden and stuff,” she admitted with a tinge to her cheeks. What it was just chatting.
And then she spotted a new kid a little girl. Taking her hand up she quickly waved over to the new Ravenclaw classmate. It was nice meeting new claws. Definitely nice. And wait, there was another Hufflepuff over there.
”Hello two-pack” she grinned over to the older Hufflepuff and waved over to him. ”so…you are a Hufflepuff like Kace here,” she grinned over to the guy.
And then after Sander she noticed a young Ravenclaw girl. A new ickle claw. She waved over to the new girl and gave her a thumbs up as she walked over to the table. ”Congratulations on making it into Ravenclaw, I’m Amelia or Mika!” she smiled over to her. ”The food will be here soon, hopefully,” she grinned over to the girl.

She might’ve stuck her head out the carriage window? Oh you’re getting another blink there Ms Mika “Riiiight...” the brunette replied slowly “Just the usual Hogwarts tradition of making like a crup on a joy ride isn’t it?” sneaky smirk for you blondie.
“Thank you. It is quite nice to be back.” she replied graciously to the Ravenclaw House Ghost. Because how can she complain that for ten months she wont need to worry about food, clothing or a warm comfy bed? However “Common Room stands resolute... behind turnstyles?” brow up. That was an annoying thing, not so much that it was Muggle-y but that she had to give money just to get to places that she believes she is entitled to due to the tuition she pays. Or the Vanderbilts pay. Whatever.
And it looks like her travelling companions has found their table. This is starting to look like a habit. In her usual Huxley manner the brunette listened distractedly at Sander, Alex, Hope and the others. Speaking of which, wehre is that cat and that pygmy puff? She needs experimental subjects soon.
And then the speech. New Professors... hmm. A frown creased the brunettes flawless face. The Potions Professor was new. Aww bother, and she was just starting to like the acerbic Potions Mistress too.
But apparently they had a new Groundskeeper. Huxley couldn’t believe what she was seeing. What was that guy, half giant? Half troll? Was it some kind of side effect from a spell. Hmmmm ....
But yes attention back to their table because their Head of House was here. Captain—yeah like always. Prefect dude of course... oh they have a new girl Prefect? Huxley turned her head just as Elwood went looking. Oh so Prefect girl not in attendance for the feast. No big deal? Surrrre.
But food is here and she wants to get her stomach filled. Instead Mika’s SCREAMING was filling her ears. Perplexed!Annoyed look at you again blondie “What are you doing? ” the brunette hissed and attempted to reach out to tug her sleeve and keep her quiet. With a face full of potatoes if need be.

Giving up on the height thing she turned from Kace and sighed. “I think you are a smidge taller than me….seeing I’m a lowly 5’0” she chuckled before turning to the table and Huxley once more.
“Sorry, I was excited” she admitted, “and um…I need to yell again soon….” She muttered and glanced around the room. Why had she taken that dare the other day? Why had she decided to be brave and admit things in front of the entire school?
“Food good?” She asked happily as she watched people walking off, turning to Kace she muttered, “you might want to plug your ears guys…yelling in three – two – wait” she muttered and stood from her space and climbed onto the bench she had once been occupying.
“Huxley yes…exactly like a dog, it’s a great tradition isn’t it?” She beamed and took a deep breath. Three….two…one.
”I LOVE SOMEONE!” she yelled out her voice cracking. "I love my boyfriend..." yep you heard her right girls. Better step off. "I love the way his um...ears go pink when he gets nervous and and and the way he forgave me for being an idiot" she beamed. "And I was dared to say this but I think I mean it yeah? Now...um have a nice term!" she beamed before hopping off of the stool and standing there.
They weren't a secret were they?
"Oh and Hux, the hair...birds-nest was because of the...err...boyfriend person petting it and stuff" wink wink, nudge nudge. You get the snoggolicious picture?

Kace liked Melek's energy. He approved of it. "Hey!" he greeted her back. "Yeah i know right? Here out of all places?" he said playing along. "How was the rest of your summer?" he asked her for a conversation starter.
Kace smiled and was glad Dusty was taking a liking to her. "Yeah they are not really harmless at all. I love him a lot. Even more than my pets at home." he said truthfully.
Kace took him back and put him in his pocket where he cuddled up and slept. Then he heard Alex's story and he frowned. Awww that was so sad. But he nodded when she asked if she could visit Dusty sometime. "Yeah of course! Dusty is a people's person. He would love company!" he said gesturing towards Alex.
"What year are you in?" he asked her.
Yay! Alex was happy that Kace had agreed to occasional visitation rights with Dusty. "Thanks Kace. I'll be sure to come and visit Dusty every now and then. I think we're officially buddies now."
Responding to Kace's question Alex said, "I'm a seventh year. What about you?"

The Headmistress finally gave her speech and it was thankfully short. At last.....food. Starving, Alex ate like it was her last meal. With all of the confusion on the train, she hadn't eaten anything earlier. Ravenclaw's Head of House stopped by their table to welcome the students and say a few words. Then suddenly, Mika stood up on the bench and begn yelling at the top of her lungs.
Alex stared at her with puzzled amazement. She loves her boyfriend.....ooookaaay. And now everyone in Hogwarts and probably Hogsmeade knows it. Maybe she bumped her head on that carriage ride too. Then again, love does make you do crazy things.....I guess.
Alex called over to Mika. "Way to go Mika. Congratulations!" That was one way to mark your territory. Say it to the world, act kinda crazy. Nope, no one was gonna mess with her man.

Anna frowned as her friend pushed her away. She sighed and looked at her, "Yeah, and it's annoying... It's just a way to say hello." And considering how rough her summer had been she was a little overdue for a hug from her best friend. She looked at her, "But you're over here." She sighed and showed the now yellow crest was placed, "So I'm guessing you're not part of the awesome house, as Kace likes to call it." She smiled and twisted a curl thinking of him, "Everyone's so understanding there, it's just amazing!"
Melek glared at her, "I dont care how you think it is annoying. You know that I dont do hugs in public so dont hug me!" She snapped at her friend, "Blah, blah, blah..., Annaleecia, just shut up already." Mel glared at her friend, "I dont care how awesome you think your house is because your house isnt as awesome as mine." Melek crossed her arms, annoyed at how her friend was acting.

Was Mel beaming? Because that would be ... soo cool! She felt really excited too. Because, well, what didn't they have in common? It was like finding an older and somehow shorter twin to hand aroung with, and it was really cool! If not a bit creepy.
And they were in the same house! Which meant that they really couldn't get into fights because they'd probably be seeing a lot of of each other. But that didn't mean Caelen was gonna cut down on the sass. As soon as she felt more comfortable around people, it always came out. Hopefully it didn't sound mean. Her aunt loved it, for one thing. So that had to be good.
Involintarily, she started thinking of her other best friend back home. Spencer. What would he think of her new friend? Would he like her? Would he like like her? And why did she care who he like liked? She was in charge of playing stupid board games and getting into fistfights with him when they didn't agree. Not patrolling who he like liked.
Okay, random mind warp aside....
The pipsqueak thing? Don't get her started. It had to be fun being an only child. She heard her uncle was, she asked one day when she was young. He always said it was lonely. And sometimes you get bored. But that didn't make much sense. Sure, there's boredom, but at least you're not always around the same person. Half the time she and Rockwell loved each other, the other half they wanted to kick each other in the face.
But she was curious. Was being an only child fun?
"Well, what's it like being an only child? Like, you're alone sometimes, but at least you're not around someone twenty-four seven whom you sometimes wanna bop." She made a little punchy motion at bop, pretending she was giving him the old one, two. She had no idea what that meant, but she had recently watched this old fighting movie which said that.
"And like, what do you do for playmates?" She felt lame saying the word playmate, but it was a serious question. Did only children play with themselves? How big was her imagination? Ohh, Caelen was now really excited! She loved people who could think up things quickly and act on it.
And yes, being short made them cute! How else would you explain it? Okay, so she wasn't that vain, but it was a funny way of looking at it. She laughed at Mel's foot wriggling and smiled when she noticed something. The older girl wasn't biting her thumb. Had she successfully stopped a habit? Was she not nervous any more? Yay! She was actually having so much fun here. Her worries were all for nothing.
N-no potions? But potions was one of her favorite things! She loved sitting on her bed and watching her brother make them! They were like a puzzle to her, something you had to put together to make a final result. And she loved puzzles. But CoMC sounded nice too. She wanted to see all of the magical creatures and learn how not to ruin their day. And Muggle Studies? She was half Muggle, so it wasn't like she was going to fail.
"I love potions! But I am looking forward to Care of Magical Creatures and possibly charms. I kind of don't know what charms is to be honest. Is that weird?" Why didn't she know much what Charms were? Because it never interested her. She would read the old textbooks and be interested in everything else, but Charms lost her interest quickly. It was a weird preference, but a preference.
"Boring sometimes and your parents push their dreams on you..." She sighed, "You dont have to share and you get spoiled though... but you dont have a playmate that you can sneak over to their home and play with and being home-schooled makes it really hard to find someone to play with... I only have one really close friend and she had to move away to Russia... and now she is all depressing to be around." She grumbled and sighed. "There really isnt much to get a playmate..." Melek shrugged, "Maybe you can help me like potions more." Mel gave a small smile to her. "I dont like charms either." She giggled.

There was no way to change what happened that morning, so she wasn't going to dwell on it too much more.
She beamed, "A huge family of friends? That sounds awesome! It is definitely different from being an only child, huh?" Melek giggled and smiled at the older girl. Mel gave a slight nod, "I suppose but at least there was a lesson in it?" She tried to offer that as a consolidation. Melek tilted her head, "I think I heard of Hogsmeade before... something about parents' signature or something..." Mel shrugged and then smiled at her. She nodded at what the girl said, "That sounds amazing!" Mel sighed happily. Melek gave another nod, "Yeah... maybe a bad sample..." She nodded and tried another dish then wrinkled her nose but forced herself to eat it. What is wrong with these people's taste buds? I miss Turkish food... Mel sighed and frowned, forcing her to eat some more.

"Hello professor Elwood." She didn't think the professor heard since everyone else was also saying hi but it was the polite thing to do.
Well it looked like the feast was over now.
She gave a confused look, "My apology? Uh... are you deaf or stupid? I didnt say an apology." Melek crossed her arms, "I spoke my mind and I shall not be forced into an apology." Mel snapped. "In dark colors? That is just plain old silliness... What is the point of it?" She rolled her eyes and sipped at her water.
Okay so her twin was talking to someone but well she was a bit annoyed because her sister had left her at the train and she had been hoping that they would share a carriage to Hogwarts but alas her sister had abandoned her again, yes again that was like the oh she couldn't figure out how many times she'd been left by her sister but who was counting anyway. "Lana what you doing?" Laura asked, she thought about sitting on her sister knee but decided against it because she didn't want to get into trouble or anything, so she just stayed standing up.

Lana nodded as she set her fork down for a moment. "It really is. Our house is like a build it support group of sorts. We help each other and protect are friends." Of course, there really wasn't much to protect from since nothing too insane had really happened in a while or at least she was completely blocking those kinds of thoughts from her memory. "You know it will be like you have tons of sisters and brothers that will annoy you but care for you at the same time." That kind of sibling love/hate relationship wasn't something that was new to Lana though. It was a subject she was very well versed in by now.
"There is always a lesson in almost everything that happens," she shrugged. Someone once told her that, but she just couldn't really remember who it was now. At the mention of Hogsmeade again, she smiled. "It's a nice place and you can wander with your friends and get a little shopping in." Those weekends were always something that she enjoyed and she never did have to owl her family for supplies after those weekends. Hermes did get ever so tired when she had to deliver those packages.
Frowning a bit, Lana attempted to eat again. She could tell that Mel wasn't too thrilled with the food. "We could always stop in to the kitchen later and see if the house-elves can make you something more like home for you," she offered as she looked back over to her. It was worth a try at least.

Lana looked up as she heard her name. "Hai, Silly Bean." she replied as she set her fork back down. She knew that look on her twin's face and she wasn't amused by it in the least. There was something troubling Laura and she knew that she would hear about it. "I'm enjoying the opening feast," she answered. Wasn't that what they were supposed to be doing at the moment. "Why aren't you over with your friends eating?" she asked as she looked to the Hufflepuff table quickly. Oh my, it was rather full tonight. "It looks like a party over there," she added as she looked back to Laura. "Where are my manners? Laura, this is Mel. Mel, this is my twin sister, Laura. She's a Hufflepuff." How could she forget to introduce her new buddy to her sister and vice versa?
Melek glared at her, "I dont care how you think it is annoying. You know that I dont do hugs in public so dont hug me!" She snapped at her friend, "Blah, blah, blah..., Annaleecia, just shut up already." Mel glared at her friend, "I dont care how awesome you think your house is because your house isnt as awesome as mine." Melek crossed her arms, annoyed at how her friend was acting.
She just shook her head not in the mood, "As I said, Kace calls us the awesome house, not me." Anna crossed her arms, "I swear, you're so rude! I'm shocked you didn't end up in Slytherin!" She glared at her, "It would just be nice to have my best friend be happy to hear about something from me for once." She shook her head and stood up, "Maybe I'll just go find Rom again, even if he hates hugs at least he'll actually listen!" She started to walk away.
She watched a new person sit down at the Ravenclaw table and smiled, waving at the girl. "Hey! I am Melek or Mel." Mel extended her hand toward the girl, "Who are you?" Melek beamed at the girl and giggled, finally over her nerves.
Just as soon as the words to Noel left her mouth, a close voice grabbed her attention, causing her head to turn from her fellow First year. "Hi, Melek." Hayley greeted with the same small smile she'd been wearing since the beginning of the feast. Kneeling lightly on the bench in front of her, the small girl accepted Melek's extended hand. "Hayley," She answered, and glanced to the boy at her side. "And he's Noel." Of Hufflepuff. But he was with her, so.. honorary Ravenclaw? Hmm.
SPOILER!!: Haruka

She spotted a girl around her age sitting in the area. Her father had asked her to try to make some friends and, even though she wasn't particularly good at it, decided that now seemed as good a time as any. She took a deep breath and approached the girl.
"Hi," she said to get her attention. "Is it okay if I sit here? It's getting a bit too crowded for me over at the Hufflepuff table." She quickly added, "I'm Haruka, by the way."
And there was another voice, possibly - no, definitely, - addressing her. Blue-grey eyes traveled again from Noel and Melek, to the new voice. A girl. Hadn't she watched her get sorted into Hufflepuff? Yes. She had.
"Hi," Hayley offered a smile, almost trying to be encouraging. The girl seemed.. nervous? Maybe. She wouldn't be surprised if she was, Hayley herself was still feeling nervous, it was just easier to pretend she wasn't with Noel at her side. "I think so, yeah.. why not?" She was a mere first year, but if she remembered right from Chloe, and judging by a couple of people in different colored robes, it seemed like a fine idea. "Nice to meet you, Haruka. I'm Hayley, and this," Hayley jabbed a finger toward the Hufflepuff boy next to her. "Is Noel."

I'm so very excited to see you all tonight! I am Professor Elwood for those of you who are new and I am the Divination Professor and Ravenclaw's Head of House." Elwood basically chirped, clapping her hands together and causing the usual jingle of silver bangles up and down each of her wrists. "I'd like to just remind everyone that class schedules and maps for the new students will be handed out at breakfast tomorrow morning and that once Headmistress Truebridge dismisses you tonight, to follow your Prefects to the Common Room in Ravenclaw Tower." Right the formalities were finished.
"Mostly I wanted to come and let you know how excited I am for this term. I know that with the help of each and every one of you as well as our house Prefects Mr. Barrington and Miss Miroslava, Isadora where are you?" Callie looked around for the brunette girl. "Hmm, wherever she is, as well as our Quidditch Captain Mr. Branxton we will hopefully grab at least one Cup or championship this term." Someone seriously needed to beat the Hufflepuffs and the blonde would love for it to be her house. "Remember to study hard, follow the rules but also have fun. If you ever need anything my office is in the Divination Tower and I will make a point to visit the Common Room every now and then as well. Have a great Feast!" She smiled brightly and gave them a quick round of applause because, well they deserved it.
She did however stick around for a second to see if any of them wanted to chit chat or had any questions.
Hayley was like a sponge, trying to absorb all that the apparent Ravenclaw Head of House was saying. She taught Divination. Maps and schedules would be handed out in the morning. Follow Prefects to Common Room after feast. Ravenclaw Prefects were Mr. Barrington and Miss Miroslava (not that Hayley had the first clue who they were), and their Quidditch Captain was Mr. Branxton (again, ditto). All noted down in her mind for safe keeping.
Once their Head of House finished, Hayley stood there for another moment or so, resisting the urge to bite her lip before finally deciding to speak up. "Hi, Professor Elwood. I'm one of your new little Eagles," As the woman had put it. In case she didn't already know from watching the sorting, Hayley added, "I'm Hayley Ann Diggory."

"In dark colors? That is just plain old silliness... What is the point of it?" She rolled her eyes and sipped at her water.
Raven rolled her eyes at Mel's sudden tantrum. "My saying that you apologized was a subtle hint for you to drop it. I don't think you are going to make very many friends if you walk up and tell people they look sick and stupid. I would think a Ravenclaw would be able to figure that out." Then she groaned and put her head in her hands at Mel's next question. 'What is the point of ANY fashion? It is because that appeals to the person doing it of course. You can die your hair if you want and that is just a style. Just like I can dress in dark colors. What are you, five?"
Most of the students looked like they had understood what she had said and those who had blank looks, well maybe they were trying to let all of it sink in? Either way they were probably okay. Ooh was that an owl?

Calista was going to head off to the Staff Table again and the rest of her dinner if she wasn't going to have any questions from her students when someone started to shout.
Amelia Johanson. And something about being in love with a boy. What was it with that young lady and boys? "Miss Johanson! Please, no shouting. I don't want to have to take points away from Ravenclaw already and I'm sure you don't want to be the reason for the Eagles to be in the negatives before the Feast has ended." She gave the sixth year a stern look and then shot a warning one at Huxley as well since she seemed to be in on the shouting.

The next girl to speak up (was it her or were there more newly sorted girls than boys this term?) was one she had watched place the sorting hat on her head and be added to the Eagles. She was going to try and guess her name but she had already given it to her.
"It's lovely to meet you Miss Diggory, are you happy with your House?" She'd certainly hope so or this would be an awkward conversation.
Hayley was still wrapping her brain around this as she made her way toward the table of blue and bronze for the first time since she'd been sorted. The first table the small First year had gone to was Gryffindor, to see Chloe and hug her and talk for a tiny bit before she decide it was time to join her own housemates. But by then, Noel had been sorted as well (she had watched the whooooole time), and while Gracie skipped off to the Snakes, Hayley waited for Noel.
Then started toward the Ravenclaws.
"Isn't this so exciting, Noel?" Hayley was saying, as they neared the table and enough empty space for them both to sit together. "Are you sure you want to sit here with me?" Because if not, she would understand. And really, they could sit with the Hufflepuffs if he wanted.
Joseph Noel Wallace was not happy. He was frown-y and no smiles. The twelve year old had not expected his first time at Hogwarts to be so disappointing. He had said Gryffindor, again and again and again but the sorting hat shouted Hufflepuff anyway.
He was a badger, not a lion.
"Yes. Exciting," Noel repeated when Hayley asked, not trying at all to hide his frown.
Hayley Diggory was happy, of course and Noel Wallace was jealous.
"Ravenclaw table is VERY fine," GRUMBLE.
When his cousin proceeded to introduce him to others, the boy merely nodded, and just not so politely said 'hello' back.
HE WAS SAD, OKAY?

Haruka smiled warmly and sat down, thankful that the girl, Hayley, didn't have a problem with this. It was just too crowded at her table. "Thank you, Hayley."
She looked at the boy, Noel, and was relieved. A fellow Hufflepuff was at the Ravenclaw table. Things didn't feel so awkward now. She gave him a kind smile. "It's nice to meet you, Noel."
Haruka was feeling more comfortable now, finding some nice kids her age to talk to. "So," she started. "Are you guys excited for classes to start? Which ones are you most looking forward to?"

Hayley beamed, pleased as ever to meet her first Professor, and very own Head of House. Which meant she was practically their Hogwarts parent, right? Something like that, the young girl thought. "Nice to meet you, too, Professor Elwood."
And then her sorting placement was brought up, which only made her glance sideways at one Noel Wallace, briefly, before looking back up at the professor. "Um.. yes, sort of, ma'am. I kind of wanted to be in Hufflepuff, like my mum and dad were, but Ravenclaw seems nice.." Hayley was warming up to her house so far. Noel got another look.

Up until that moment, Hayley hadn't really been watching Noel. She was too busy watching where they were going, as well as letting her eyes explore the great hall and the sea of faces within it. But as she stood there, introducing both of them to multiple students, the young girl was now able to see how miserable he looked.
Oh, Noel.
That wiped the smile right off her face. He was not excited. He was being a troll booger. "Fine," Hayley almost huffed, matching his mood. Ravenclaw table it was. "You know, Noel, you got the house I wanted. I didn't choose to be in Ravenclaw, but there's no point in pouting over it. What's done is done." So cheer up, buttercup.
And with that being said, Hayley plopped down onto the bench and patted the seat next to her.

"You're welcome," was Hayley's only response to the girl's thanks, although it wasn't really her decision if the girl could sit with them or not, but she was more than welcome as far as Hayley was concerned. The more, the merrier. That's how Hayley's brain worked, due to how she was raised.
The small girl had half a mind to tell the girl, Haruka, not to mind Noel as she addressed him with a smile, but decided against it. There was no need to further ruffle Noel's feathers. She liked having fun with him, not having him mad at her. Instead, the young Diggory nudged her cousin gently in the side. Cheer up, please? "I'm excited," Hayley said, looking to Haruka now. "A lot, actually.. but mostily Care of Magical Creatures," And flying, if there was even flying lessons.. according to Caleb Newell, there wasn't. Hayley still needed to find out for herself. "What about you?"

She gave a weak smile, "That is good..." Melek looked at the older girl. "That sounds amazing! I wish I had siblings... I hate being an only child..." Mel sighed and looked away, frowning. She was starting to get sad and she glanced at the table, debating on putting her head down and burying it but then again her mother would have shunned her and punished her for the lack of manners. I must never put my head down on a table, nor my elbows. I better straighten my back up and stick my pinky out... At that, she sat up straight and stuck her pinky out while sipping her water delicately. Her ankles crossed and the hand she wasnt using now laid on her lap.
"I am glad that there is always a lesson to learn." She gave a weak smile and glanced down at the table. "That sounds like a lo--- like a delight..." Melek tried to act lady-like because if her mother knew that she hadnt, then her mother would blow a gasket. Mel glanced at the girl with a slight smile of relief, "That sounds amazing..." She sighed then added, "But I dont think Mother would approve of it..." Melek cast her eyes down again and sighed silently.

She snapped, "If I really was a slytherin, I would have hexed you already!" Melek growled and clenched her fists. "Fine, go find Rom again and leave me the heck alone since OBVIOUSLY you hate me anyways." She flew a goblet at her friend's head and then looked for a place to curl up and cry from the hurt that her friend said.

"Care of Magical Creatures does sound interesting," Haruka agreed. "As long as, you know, we don't deal with anything too dangerous..." She shifted uncomfortably in her seat.
"I've been excited about Divinations. Charms as well." She was starting to geek out. "And Potions, and..." She stopped herself and sighed awkwardly. "Well, I'm just excited, I guess."
Jun nodded. Not get to the hovering part? Jun never really thought about that. But everyone in his first flying lesson was able to hover at least. "I think if you're magical, you'll be able to hover at least," Flying took more practice. But everyone got it eventually. Unless they didn't like flying so that was a different story. "Are you nervous about your first flying lesson?"

Nodding her head, Helena smiled faintly, "Not as ready as you should be." Helena didn't have to attend classes and work on homework, she was at home. "However, I don't reckon anyone will ever be ready for what Hogwarts offers us." Merlin knew it was more than just a school term, every. single. time.
The watching and staring was normal. Helena got it every feast in the beginning of every term. Mostly from youngsters like this girl. So, she was going to do her thing now. The ghost floated a little closer, her hands folded in a neat manner. "Hello dear. Welcome to Hogwarts, and Ravenclaw." The smile gracing her face.
They were good Ravenclaws, those bunch, if she could say so herself. They stuck to the house's rules and met the high expectations of being the ever hardworking knowledge seekers. It pleased her, and her smile was a little wider but never too obvious. "That's what we call a nice, productive summer." Brilliant students indeed.
The ghost nodded her head slowly, "Of course. You're just beginning. Don't you find it incredibly intriguing when you learn something new every time you read, though?" There was nothing more boring than ceasing to learn, Helena could not even imagine such a state.
The girl was generous and loving. Helena predicted she'd make a brilliant lady when she gets older. Good house skills, lively common sense, proper manners and such delicate beauty.
Definitely a lady to-be.
She smiled at her one last time.
This one, however, wasn't so lady to-be. Helena listened to the girl with a collective look on her face. Pity. "You can simply be lady-like without faking it, then." Because being a bit more lady-like was definitely not a facade, as the Ravenclaw put it. Helena noticed the girl's slouchy shoulders, too, but didn't comment on it. The napkin was a wise move, the ghost's face softened at that.
They should have a manner teaching lessons in Hogwarts. Back when she was alive, girls were brought up to be proper ladies.
"We'll work on a few things in time." She answered finally, obviously insisting on the subject.
More staring. Helena smiled faintly at the girl, kept her hands folded close to her body. "Welcome to Hogwarts, and to Ravenclaw dear." She bowed her head a little.
The girl looked startled... or really, overexcited? The Grey Lady bowed her head again. "Hogwarts will keep you thrilled throughout the year, I daresay." The girl could ask the older students.
Ms. Ravenclaw...? "The Grey Lady." The ghost corrected, gently. She was all about proper titles and good manners. The student was back to Hogwarts this term, then? "Wise choice to come back here for education."

"Lilies are my favorite flower too, but that's probably because I'm partial." Who wouldn't be when you shared the same name. The seventh year smiled at the girl when the poor kid's eyes grew. "Nice to meet you, Mel. And welcome to Hogwarts." So the kid was homeschooled... "Are you ready for your classes?" Lily asked, curious as to whether the third year would be ready for Hogwarts level schooling.
Now that... was a scared firstie. Lily waved to the girl and gave her a big smile. "Welcome to Ravenclaw!! My name is Lily." The seventh year called out, remembering what it was like to be a first year who knew nobody. "What's your name?" The seventeen year old asked, sliding down to a seat near the young girl.
Lily laughed, hearing the firstie's idea. "Now that would be neat. Though you might end up getting lost faster that way." She could see it now... some firstie would be too focused on getting to class first that they wouldn't see the staircase change right out from their feet. "Muggle studies isn't bad. I thought I was muggleborn up until last term when I found out my dad is a squib, so I grew up around muggles too. So while it may be an easy class, there'll be some things you don't know... or never thought of." The seventeen year old said. "Potions is pretty neat too. Personally, my favorite is either flying or DADA." Lily said, glancing up at the staff table to make sure those two teachers were still the same as the previous term.
Lily smiled, hearing what the ravenclaw ghost had to say about the term. Hogwarts never did have a simple school term, did it? This year would be no different, especially seeing as how there was something causing chaos among the staff... and was that the groundskeeper? That man was huge!!
Next came the speech. New banners, good old silverware... yadda yadda. All Lily wanted to know was whether there would still be those dreaded turnstiles or even worse, the mischievous Durmstrang and Beaubaton's kids. But since neither of those questions were answered, Lily instead focused on the fact that there was food now... and once starting to feed herself, where the prefects for Ravenclaw were. Who was the new female prefect? Oh, and Elwood was still head of house, right?

Wasn't there supposed to be food? She had been told this was a feast. "Do you have any siblings?" She asked. It would be best to move on from Gwen's mini freak out and make casual conversation.

No reason for her to fret.
"Sounds good to me! And... to soothe your worries? Even though it's on the seventh floor, it's pretty easy to find - it's just climbing all the flights of stairs that take some getting used to." Sophie herself didn't stop feeling sore or exhausted from it till right before the holiday break last year.
..."Indeed." Her reply was overly proper and in jest, but her flat tone probably didn't let it come off that way too well. Sophie forced a sweet smile at the ghost, though, and gave a nod, "I look forward to that. Thank you for your interest in my well-being."
But no thanks and could you try not to embarrass me in front of my friends again thanks????
Elwood was a hoot. Sophie liked her. Shame she wasn't taking Divination for another year, but she was hopeful Elwood would be around for a long, long time. She seemed like she'd be quite the insightful professor. A bit zany sometimes, perhaps, but interesting all the same. Joining in with the applause led by the woman herself, Sophie started to pile food onto her own plate and gave Mo a nudge. "You should give a speech, too. That'd be cute." She was only just teasing his badge and leadership position and fully did not expect him to do it, but it WOULD have been cute if he decided to, obviously.
While she was eating, Sophie noticed the owl entering the Great Hall and thought it was funny - who was the kid with the parent who couldn't wait more than twenty-four hours to send them something? - but didn't mind it too much until it was within a few feet. And set a package right beside her plate.
...Okay. Quick. Her mum knew better than to send her anything. Her dad... probably wasn't as clued into how embarrassing that was during the opening feast, even though he SHOULD know better and it wasn't HIS owl... but it must've been him, she figured. What was so important that it couldn't wait? NORMALLY Sophie would have been smart and taken any packages up to the dorm to open so no one would target her as someone to steal from, but this was... too weird. Too out of place, and she NEEDED to know what was inside. So, pushing her plate forward and making a little room in the space between her food and herself, Sophie tore the package open.
She stared for a moment before laying the jars out in front of her and, seemingly in slow motion, Sophie's face lit up and her cheeks went pink. Ira. The famous Ira BANNER. HE SENT STUFF TO HER. LIKE THEY WERE FRIENDS OR SOMETHING. WAS SHE FRIENDS WITH IRA BANNER? DID HE REALLY LIKE HER FLOWERS AND LETTER THAT MUCH? Sophie knew it must've meant a lot to him if he had gone through so much trouble when normally it seemed like he didn't care about ANYTHING in the world except for wands! Uncharacteristically giddy giggles escaped her lips as she melted into Mo's side and rested her head on his shoulder, curiously unfolding the pieces of parchment included, her grin broadening as she realized what it was.
She was the luckiest kid in the whole WORLD. WHAT A COOL GUY. WANDS. IRA BANNER.WANDLORE. SHE WAS IN HEAVEN.
Sophie subconsciously slipped her Hermione!wand from its holster and gave it a nice, long hug to her chest as she read on, the delighted smile still dancing upon her lips, food forgotten forever.

Hope shrugged. "I guess I'm just a little worried. Not much. Just a little." She smiled at Jun and shrugged again. "I'll be fine. I mean, I'm here so guess it really is no big issue." Yes. And she was Hope Evans. She was born to be amazing. She must be sleepy if she was forgetting who she was.
She turned her attention to the Grey Lady and nodded. "Always. It's one of my favorite things about reading." She'll admit to being a bit of a bookworm. So far she hadn't met a book that she didn't like.
Lily was then calling her attention for a response and she shrugged. "I just like competition. I also like proving that I am the best. I mean, hey if they get lost, better for me right. Just goes to show who's the best, right?" She shrugged. Maybe the girl was right. Maybe she could learn something new. She wouldn't know until she tried. Potions and, once again, flying. It seemed like everybody like to fly. Maybe she'd have to try sooner than she thought she would.
Hope smiled as Gwen officially calmed down and accepted what is. She shook her head. "Only child and I intend to keep it that way." She didn't want a little sister or brother. How would her parents be able to focus on her if they were to busy worrying about someone else? "Do you have any siblings?"
Sophie had one thing right. She had a friend in the girl. "Thanks." She was one step closer to being certain that everything would be better than expected. She looked around the table and saw Huxley and Sander and Kace. Just a few of the people she had met on the train. Okay, so maybe, just maybe, she had friends. The thought made her nervous though. That was until the girls next words slipped out. "Fiddle sticks. I forgot where the Ravenclaw house was located. Guess it's a good work out."
The speech was given and food was served springing up before her. She looked at it and realized she wasn't hungry all of a sudden. She really should have only had the one cookie but she had given in to the second and spoiled her appetite. She reached out and got herself a glass of tea and just held it as something to sip on...
Which splashed down her shirt at Mika's semi loud outburst. Love. Hope rolled her eyes at the concept. She really wasn't big on the idea of love just yet. After all, why would anyone want to be annoyed by the same person over and over for the rest of their lives? Not her, that was for certain.

Mel crossed her arms, "I shared everything with you and given you money... and I am the rude one just because I dont want to hear your bragging about how your house is the BEST? I dont give a crap about your house! I am not in the mood to hear about it or your bragging... yes, I am HAPPY that you found a home now but I dont need you bragging about it." She snapped, "If I really was a slytherin, I would have hexed you already!" Melek growled and clenched her fists. "Fine, go find Rom again and leave me the heck alone since OBVIOUSLY you hate me anyways." She flew a goblet at her friend's head and then looked for a place to curl up and cry from the hurt that her friend said.
"Being kind to someone doesn't mean you aren't truly rude!" She looked at her, "And I didn't want any of it! I was always scared to leave the or... where I came from, you made fun of my sister constantly just because she wanted to be with me! I never wanted the money, so every time you tried to hand it to me the next time I saw you I snuck it back to you!" Anna shook her head, "And it wasn't bragging! I just said what someone else calls the house, as I said. And it wouldn't shock me if you have hexed me already to be honest." It was sad, but she was actually being truthful. She started to turn but stopped, "I hate you?" Annaleecia shook her head, "I could never hate you Melek! It's not physic-..." She stopped as she gave a small yelp, the goblet hitting her square in the forehead. She laid her head against her hand fighting back tears, "If anything, you've always seemed to hate me..." She winced and turned away again.

Lily smiled, glad that the new kid felt like she was making friends. "Potions isn't so bad. Hey.. at least you don't have Lafay. Nobody crossed her..." Lily commented, shoveling a bit of food into her mouth. Hey... they weren't eating again until morning and had barely eaten lunch.

Of course, the seventh year had to be in the middle of chewing when Professor Elwood would come over. So Lily slowly chewed, listening to the basics of what the HoH speech was about. It hadn't really changed much in the past 7 terms. But she was polite and gave her head of house a smile throughout. Then, before Elwood disappeared, Lily gave a wave. "Hello Professor Elwood. Have a good summer?" The seventeen year old asked.

Hearing Hope's answer, Lily couldn't help but laugh. It would indeed show who's best. All the ravenclaw could hope was that nobody got lost to the point where they couldn't find their way out. That...would be bad. Lily thought as she worked her way through a plate full of food.

Sander was glad that Alex took his last comment as not an insult at all.
"And I'll be there to help even if it is to use my body to cushion your fall...not that you're going to fall...no...no....you'll be like a feather floating over the ice." Sander nodded before finally laughing.
"I guess I should stop while the going is good, huh. Well I'm about to head up on up right now to ask permission, so wish me luck. But yes either way, whether it be on ice or on the ground, we will definitely be skating." Sander nodded with determination.
.....and now why was Mel pouting....had he made a mistake? Sander reviewed what he had told her...and then he realized that he had indeed missed something.
Melek pouted when Sander just sat there quickly. She crossed her arms and looked up at him, expecting him to agree with her... or at least something. Her face made an annoyance look and she started to decide whether or not to stop thinking of him as potential brother material as she sat there, waiting for his response.
"Oh yes...yes...yes...Mel. You will definitely make a big difference in the future. In fact, you are doing it now. Just by being here in this school, you've already started making a difference." he smiled down to her hoping that his words were encouraging enough.
"Nice to meet you Brynn, Alex said truthfully. " I hope you have a great year. It shouldn't take you too long to get settled in. You'll be an old pro in a couple of weeks."
As Alex's stomach rumbled again, she answered the little girl's question. "We get to eat as soon as the Headmistress makes her speech. I am sooo ready for that to happen."
Brynn smiled a little more as she listened to older teenage girl, Alex. Well, did her best to listen.. she was awfully hungry and couldn't help but to be distracted by the rumbling in her tummy. "Thanks," she said as she told her she hoped she had a good year. Of course she hoped that too, though her start hadn't been so great. Maybe that could be behind her now. But an old pro in a couple weeks? She wasn't so sure.. "The castle looks so big, I'm afraid I'll get lost.." she admitted.
Oh, so the Headmistress had to speak first? Brynn glanced up to the table full of adults, her eyes landing on the lady in the middle. She had red hair just like her and Brynn smiled faintly at the thought before turning back to Alex. "Me too, I'm really hungry." Her stomach seemed to answer as well with another low grumbling and the eleven year old blushed a bit, hoping no one heard. She glanced up to the staff table again as she heard a loud voice. Oh, finally.. the Headmistress was talking, so they'd eat real soon, right?

Brynn reached for a helping of mashed potatoes, her attention soon diverted by a boy's voice at her side. Oh, he looked familiar, didn't he? She was about to withdraw her hand when Brynn took it and shook it but after the shaking was done, she clasped her hands together and placed them in her lap. "Yep! We are housemates!" Melek beamed at her, "Are you excited about being in Ravenclaw?" Mel tilted her head and looked at her.
Brynn smiled brightly at Mel, then shrugged away her apology. It was no big deal, really. They had only just met that one time after all. "Yeah, the animal countries," she agreed with a grin and gave a little laugh again. That had been a funny way to meet. "Of course I will forgive you," she grinned. "No big deal and you remember now." Besides, if she could forgive Bart for hanging up her undies on the train, she could certainly forgive a girl who she had just met for forgetting. It was cool.
Oh and it was really cool that she already sort of knew someone in her new Ravenclaw house. It almost made up for Bart not being a Ravenclaw too. Almost. "Um.." she shrugged at the question not really sure how to answer. "I guess? I'm not sure what a Ravenclaw does.. or anything like that.." Should she be excited? She guessed... Was Mel excited?

Introductions were needed sometimes.
Once there was a break in the conversation, Brynn took the opportunity to eat some of the roast beef she had on her plate. It tasted so good after having nothing but a handful of sweets all day. While she ate, her eyes wandered the table and she saw another older, teenage girl looking her way and Brynn offered her a small, shy smile. "Thanks," she said, smiling a bit brighter at the welcome. Wow.. people were really becoming welcoming like they were really glad she was sorted into their house. But then she tilted her head a bit, looking at the girl rather curiously. "Oh.. well.. which is it?" Amelia or Mika? Which was she supposed to call the girl? Then she glanced up at the ghost as Amelia/Mika pointed out her name and she smiled faintly in the ghost lady's direction before turning back to the teenage girl. Helena Ravenclaw? "She has the same name as our house," she mused aloud. "Is it named after her?" Or the other way around? Shaking herself from those thoughts momentarily, she offered her name in return. "I'm Brynn." Cool, so many teenage girls wanted to talk with her. Brynn couldn't help but to smile at the thought because that obviously meant she was already in with the cool crowd. Maybe she should be excited to be a Ravenclaw, that had to be where it was at. And this girl had pretty red hair. Just. like. her.
Finally growing a little more comfortable at her table, the first year gave a small smile back to the older girl. "Thanks Lily," she replied to her welcome. "My name is Brynn." She took a few more bites of her meal then looked back up at the girl. "So.. what do we do after this?" Brynn's attention was diverted once again by a more authoritative voice. A voice belonging to an adult. The diminutive redhead watched the woman for a moment, doing her best to remain attentive and listen to her words. So she was Professor Elwood and she was in charge of the Ravenclaws. So that's what they'd be doing after this. Following Prefects to the Common Room. Brynn looked around the table as Elwood gestured towards the student leaders, then looked back to the woman. She gave her a little wave to let her know she was new. She wasn't sure if she was supposed to introduce herself or not, but she'd probably figure it out once she got her schedule.
