High up in the top-most reaches of the Castle is a tower dedicated to Ravenclaw House. You come across the entrance in the form of a door with no handle or lock but a single knocker shaped like the head of an eagle. If, and only if, you answer the riddle that the eagle presents you, you may gain entrance to the Ravenclaw Common Room. Hey, there's a reason that Ravenclaw is the house for those with brains.
Upon entering the Common Room you see a number of things but mostly you see the floor to ceiling windows that span around almost the entire curved room. Beyond their panes you can see what looks like all of Hogwarts' campus and the majestic mountain range beyond. One sweeping look through them and you can see the Forbidden Forest, Quidditch Pitch, The Greenhouses, the Black Lake, and even the shimmering light from the windows in Hogsmeade. At nighttime, the glass reveals the starry night beyond.
Placed on the center of the curved wall is a large fireplace with plenty of navy blue sofas and armchairs placed around it. They are there for students to lounge as they work on homework, socialize or just relax and enjoy the view between lessons. A crowded night in the Common Room for a party or rowdy game of Gobstones? Take a seat on the newly installed deep blue carpet.
Along the wall you entered there is the Announcements Board where all things will be posted regarding school events, lessons, and homework as well as the Study Tables that are provided for a more structured setting for Ravenclaws to do what Ravenclaws do best. The Grey Lady, the House ghost of Ravenclaw tends to visit this spot especially every now and then. And last but not least, to the right of where the impressive statue of Rowena Ravenclaw herself stands, is the staircase leading to the dormitories. Once you ascend these stairs, going to the right will take you to the ones allotted for the girls and the left will lead you to the ones reserved for the boys.
Come in, relax, have fun and make yourselves at home.
Welcome to Ravenclaw!
Sophie may have legitimately raced everyone to the common room after the feast, even the prefects who were supposed to be leading the way or whatever. Climbing the staircases wasn't as easy of a task as it had been a few months ago, but she only had to stop to breathe once between the fifth and sixth floors to regain some energy. But she MADE IT. FIRST ONE. WOOP. Answering the knocker's riddle was a fairly easy task - she had solved it and shortly after, she heard more people coming behind her... and proceeded to close the door behind her so she was THE first and they would all have to answer a riddle themselves. Buying herself some time and such. Totally not rude. Just... happy to be home.
Upon taking a moment to breathe in the familiar scent of the peaceful room, Sophie raced up to her dorm, threw off her robe, snagged a gift box, a hairbrush, and a pocket full of hairties from her trunk, and hurried back down to the common room to find... no Mo yet. Okay. She could relax, then. Headed toward an armchair she had seen Mo frequently gravitate to last term, she sat on the floor in front of it, her back against the front of the chair with the gift box in her lap. Then... she waited, contently brushing her hair in the meantime.
Brynn had followed the large group of blue robed students up flight after flight after flight of stairs. At the point where she felt her little legs could carry her no further, they finally stopped in front of a large closed door and talking door knocker. That was what they had to do to get inside their common room every time? The eleven year old was sure she'd be stuck out in the corridor a lot waiting for assistance.
But for now, thanks to the help of some older students, she was inside and her widened brown eyes looked around, taken in the sights. This was magnificent, like some sort of royal palace! She could definitely get used to this. The small redhead slowly walked around the room, looking at everything she could, standing at the large windows to peer outside and its amazing view, before turning to find a seat in a large, overstuffed armchair.
She found herself next to a girl about her size, though she was one she had not met before. Brynn watched her for a moment as she brushed her pretty, brown hair, smiling lightly. Just as she thought, it would be like one big sleepover.. that was what girls did at them? Brush hair and paint nails, stuff like that? Brynn offered her a slightly bigger smile as she offered her name, "Hi.. I'm Brynn. Have you been a Ravenclaw for a while?" Because while she looked about Brynn's size, she was much more at ease here than she.

Well, more like he was here but still. The usual smell of the common room made Jun all giddy inside but he did his best not to show it. School was his safe place besides maybe his grandmother's place in Seoul. But that was only his safe place during summers. This was it for the rest of the year. Walking through the entrance and into the over sized room, Jun quickly laid on the couch before anyone could sit on it. No big deal; everyone else could just sit somewhere else. There was plenty of room to do that too. He swung his legs over the arm rest, took off his cap and placed it over his face. Maybe if he did that, everyone would be kind enough to head to the dorms and stop being so loud.

As more students shuffled into the common room, Sophie mostly paid them no mind, though she did find amusement in the faces of the new Ravenclaws as they entered their new home for the first time. She continued brushing her hair out, though, minding her own business for the time being and fearing, for the first time, that Mo might not actually like her present for him. But... he would like just about anything, right? Wouldn't he just be psyched that she actually HAD remembered him?
Then a nearby girl - one of the new faces whose reaction Sophie had found delight in when she entered - seemed to be talking to her, though, snapping her out of her worries over Mo's gift, and the second year smiled up at her. "Hey Brynn, cool name - Sophie. Yeah, just last term. This is my second year - and on behalf of all of us, welcome to the best house in the world." Totally true. She readjusted her position so her legs were curled in toward her pretzel-style, then continued brushing her hair out, "Whaddya think of the common room? And the school so far? Everything you dreamed of and more?"

Dora had to go into the common room eventually. And since she'd walked her best all the way up here well.... no choice now. Giving the response to the knocker, she just hoped that it wasn't too packed with students. Students she was supposed to lead up here with Nigel.
Not sorry.
The sixth year entered the common room and was pleased to see it was relatively empty. Which meant that she could chill out here for a while and think. She picked a couch by one of the windows, not acknowledging the other students in the common room with how lost she already was in her own thoughts.

Yes, she really wanted to just go to bed in her tower but the Ravenclaw tower was up here in the Castle as well and she wanted to be sure that all of the new Eagles made their way back to the Common Room okay. She was protective, what could she say?
She greeted the knocker as if it were a real person and answered her riddle rather quickly. Once she entered she closed the door behind her and moved further into the room. "Hello everyone." She waved smally. "Just checking up on you before we all turn in."Adult in the hizz-house Little Sophie Brown was there and Mr. Kim as well as the new student she had spoken breifly with at the Feast...Brynn she thought.
Elwood didn't have much intention of staying super long tonight but she did notice her female prefect, finally, sitting over on her own. Calista walked over to the girl and took a seat beside her. "Good evening Isadora, I didn't see you at the Feast. Did we get everyone up here alright?" An encouraging smile was given to her new prefect. The girl hadn't took her lessons but she knew she was smart and responsible, right? Someone had told her that.

Dora was aware of who was coming and going into the common room the way she was aware of those on the grounds below, or the fire crackling nearby. Aware of all and ignoring all. Right up until the head of house herself came over and made herself at home beside her.
Right, she was a prefect now.
Should probably put on that badge.
Blinking a few times to pull herself out of her trance, she focused her hazel-green eyes on the professor. "Evening, Professor." Oh, right the feast. "I was around...." In the castle, which was technically around. "I stayed behind a bit to make sure there were no stragglers, which I'm fairly certain there are not." And if there were then too bad for them. Let this be a lesson to listen to Nigel the first time.
She was taking these prefect responsibilities so well.

Mo was at the back of the pack, but then he was still trying to shake off the fact that he'd been kissed in the Great Hall. By a Gryffindor! By a Gryffindor THIRD YEAR. It was traumatizing, thanks. He ruffled his hair as he entered the Common Room, obviously spotting Sophie waiting for him. At least she had company, so he didn't need to rush over there.
Because their Head of House was here. The Professor Pretty herself. "Hey, Professor. Have a good summer?" He was all casual non-chalance and charm, really. Everyone should be impressed by how very cool he was at this very moment. Wait, was there fried chicken grease on his shirt? MORTIFYING.
"I need to come talk to you, actually. Um. I have to go now, though, and check on... chickens. And Dora! Dora is allergic to chickens! Just thought you should know!" And Mo made apologetic faces at the female prefect before rushing across the room to where Sophie and Brynn were waiting.
"Hey," he made glum faces at them both as he fussed over the stain on his shirt. It just wasn't... going anywhere. Mo pulled off his shirt and turned it inside out before putting it back on. There. Clean. "Hey..." Again. Peppier this time. "Gimme the brush, Soph. Who's your friend?"

When Gwen finally found the common room she slipped in behind another student. She had read all about that knocker and was pretty sure she would never be able to answer its riddles. The room was beautiful and amazing. It was bigger than her family's entire apartment. Flat, she corrected herself. They called it a flat in British English, didn't they?
Gwen heard a voice, and turned in surprise toward the familiar accent that she hadn't heard all day. The only adult in the room, and she was American. Gwen thought about going to talk to her, but decided against it. She was speaking to an older student, and what would Gwen say anyway? You're American? Me too. Let's get coffee sometime. No. There was nothing she could say that wouldn't be awkward.
Where was she supposed to go? Maybe she should just wait for Hope to get here. Hope would know where they were supposed to sleep, or at least be brave enough to ask someone.
The Head of House was there? That was nice of her to check in on them. But when Mo came in... Sophie's whole face scrunched up. What was wrong with him? Why was he being so... weird? She turned from Brynn to watch Mo purposefully, tilting her head in further confusion at his interactions with Elwood, and let him see her baffled expression as he joined her.
"Hi. What's wrong?" She was concerned, but she tried to keep her tone casual as to not attract others to their conversation. Obediently, she raised the brush up to him and leaned forward into the gift in her lap to let him sit behind her on the armchair without knocking her in the head. "This is Brynn. New firstie, yeah?" That hadn't been confirmed to her yet, but she was pretty sure, so she looked to the girl for clarification.

Brynn grinned a bit bigger as the girl, Sophie as she called herself, returned her smile. AND she thought she had a cool name. "Nice to meet you, Sophie," she responded in turn. "You have a cool name too." She did.. the redhead liked it, and the girl behind the name, already. "Thanks," she added at the girl's welcome, already convinced that Ravenclaw had to be the best house.. most everyone she met seemed super awesome. "Everyone has been so welcoming so far." Like they were really glad she was here, and that made her feel really special and happy to be here.
Hearing Sophie's next questions, the eleven year old bit her lip and looked around the room. The common room was amazing but she hadn't much experience with the rest of the school other than the terrifying boat ride and feast in the Great Hall. She opened her mouth to answer the other girl when she quickly closed it, her eyes widening as a teenage boy came over to them. And not only did he know Sophie, but he was taking off his shirt. Did boys do that often here? She quickly averted her widened eyes, processing this information, then caught sight of the Head House lady.
Getting her slightly embarrassed self under control, the redhead smiled widely at the Divinations professor and gave her a little wave. She sure seemed nice. All turn in? Oh, was it bedtime already? Brynn's face fell at the thought. She was far too excited to sleep, besides she thought people stayed up super late at sleepovers. Then hearing her name, she turned back to Sophie and the boy, who had his shirt back on, though it was inside out now. She stared at him curiously for a moment, then nodded her agreement to Sophie's words. "I'm Brynn, new firstie," she repeated for confirmation.

Hooooooooooomeee! She was finally home. Well, what she considered home.
"Hooooooome!" She giggled, plopping down in one of the chairs nearest the fireplace. Ahh yes. This was perfection. Absolute perfection. Now, if she could actually find some people to have a decent conversation with, and a chocolate frog....
Hmmm....
Well, more like he was here but still. The usual smell of the common room made Jun all giddy inside but he did his best not to show it. Charlie thanked Merlin that she didn't have to carry all of her bags to her room, as she had to the train. Admittedly, it would have been easier, as here she could levitate them, but still - not doing any work at all? She wasn't going to argue with that. After a quick change in her dormitory, she grabbed a book, and flopped down the steps, back to the Common Room, waving quick hello's to the people she recognised.
JUN.
Did Charlie realise that him being sprawled completely across the couch, and covering his face with his cap meant that he didn't want company? Yes. Did she really care much, right then? Nope. She was far too happy to be back, and sure Jun was, too, and wanted company. So she flopped on over to him - yes, there was a lot of lazy flopping about Charlie's limbs today - and sat across his legs.
"Hi."

Hearing the last of people walk in, Jun was slowly drifting into a slumber. But then he heard Elwood come in; welcoming everyone. He uncovered one eye from under his cap and waved at her. She was pretty cheery, which was probably because classes haven't started yet. At least she didn't tell him to get off the couch or sit properly. She was awesome like that. Anyway, Jun covered his face again and didn't bother trying to sleep again. He'll just head up to the dorms for that later. Just too lazy right now.
But of course there was always something that ruined his mood.
SOMEONE JUST SAT ON HIS LEGS.
Sitting up quicker than he thought possible for himself, Jun came in contact with someone he really didn't mind sitting on his legs. Playfully rolling his eyes, he laid back down and didn't bother covering his face with the cap again. "That was completely rude of you, Charlie,"
Tsk tsk.

The. Stairs. Were. Awful! Hope finally managed to climb all of them and then she stood out there and, thankfully, managed to give the right answer to the knocker. Food and sleep weighed down on her body and she closed the door behind her. She plopped on a sofa and sighed. It was going to take YEARS to get used to that climb.
She looked around the room smiling at Sophie, Jun, Gwen, and Mo. Followed by a smaller smile for the people she hadn't met. She was back up on guard around people. Especially older students. Yep. This was going to be a great seven years. At least the view rom the tower was well worth the climb. Otherwise, she wouldn't ever make this walk again and might just sleep in an empty classroom.

"And her I was, thinking you were ignoring the world." Charlie grinned at her friend as he sat up, and poked him a little in the chest. She was proud that Jun had sat up and paid attention to her, that she was going to ignore the fact that anyone would do so if somebody sat on their legs.
She mock gasped, gazing at him with a hand to her chest. "Rude?! I dare say, if it was rude of me to sit on your legs, then it was frightfully horrid of you to leave a gal with no place to sit." You know, ignoring all of the other empty couches and chairs and the floor around them.
Because sitting on the floor was actually totally cool and comfortable.
And apparently, by her language, she'd been reading to many classics. She giggled at Jun before wiggling to get more comfortable. He knew she was joking, right?

Jun grinned. That was exactly what he was doing. "I was until, you know, people wanna sit on your legs and spook you out of sleep," Because that's what Charlie totally did. Spooked his sleep from the couch and hopefully he'll have it back for the dorms later. He recieved a poke to his chest so Jun shooed her hand away with his cap. If it wasn't going to be on his head, it might as well be good for something else.
Arching an eyebrow at her, Jun snorted. What was with the lingo now? Raising a finger, he quickly pointed to the ground. "The floor looks mighty comfortable if you ask me. Plus, I would've kindly passed you a pillow but seeing as I'm using it, sucks for you," He wouldn't give up his pillow for Charlie. Jun was here first so he had all rights to it for now.
"Excited to be back? I'm excited summer's over," he said, with a smirk. Ah, Teaser!Jun was back. He hated summer whereas Charlie loved it. Why? Summer was hot and gross.

Trust me, you don't want it with the female Scarface;
Mika wasn’t just happy she was radiating happy. She was like Hiroshima if it had been filled with radiating love and happiness. Sure she had taken a little longer to get up to the Common Room as she had stopped to wave at someone – and the awkward thing at the end of the feast…but, it was a small but, she didn’t care that she was a little later to arrive in her home away from home.
”Hey” she called out as she entered the common room after answering the knocker’s riddle. “Mo! How are you!” she called over to the Quidditch Captain and waaaaved happily before spinning around in place. Yes, she was practically dancing from happiness hopefully it was a contagious thing yes?
She was just so extremely giddy. She cast a quick look at the girl whose hair Mo was busy brushing and sent her a big smile. “Sophie right? I don’t’ think I met you last year just wanted to say hi!” She beamed at the girl. Was she speaking louder now? Maybe? It wasn’t on purpose or anything.
And then she spotted Dora – and well…didn’t know what to do? Congratulations on her prefecture maybe?
”Hey Dora, congratulations on getting Prefected” she smiled over to her fellow sixth year. “Hey everyone” she practically cheered before finding a seat somewhat near Mo’s armchair for talking reasons.
Oh...her Puffs were squeaking at Hope.

Hope was pulled from her mental musings by a squeak and she looked up to see Mika with her pygmy puffs. "Hey, Mika!" She heard a small squeak from inside her pocket and she pulled out one bouncing purple pygmy puff. Silly thing. Of course he would wake up now. "Poppy. I see you've finally decided to wake up. You missed the feast." The pygmy puff just squeaked up at her and made it's way up to her shoulder.

Lily slipped into the common room a good long while after the feast. Instead of following the prefects like she normally would, the seventh year took the long way to get to the tower, wandering around through the halls and visiting all the places inside the castle that she would spend her time. So by the time she made it back to the tower, pretty much everyone else had gotten back already, including Professor Elwood, who got a small smile and a wave from the seventeen year old.
Walking further into the common room, Lily smiled at little Hope and gave a wave over to Mo, Sophie, and firstie Brynn before taking a seat in one of the windowsills so she could look out over the grounds. She had really begun to love the school, though she missed many of the people who had made it great for her. So the seventeen year old sat, her eyes glistening with the start of tears, reminiscing on her past 6 years at the school, pretty much unaware of what was happening around her.

Hmmm....
Melek looked up from her book and the chocolate frog that she was munching on when a girl said something about a home or whatever. She eyed the girl and considered if the girl was insane or not before going back to her book. Mel still munched away on her frog though as the pages turned and she blocked out some of the noise of the common room.
Benjamin scrambled through the common room door after his toad, shaking his head. "I know you're excited to be back...but seriously, could you just stay in my robes for five minutes?" Benjy grabbed his toad before it ventured under the sofa, and shook his head. "I dunno. Silly boy."
Peeping up from behind the sofa, Flipper grasped as tight as he dared in his hands, Benjy finally got chance to look round the Common Room. Ah, familiar faces. And new ones.
...and Professor Elwood.
"Hi Professor," he said with a grin, before scooting over to Sophie and Mo and ickle firstie!person. "Ahoy there! What have I been missing whilst toad hunting?"

Emma was just starting to settle in when she caught the scent of chocolate in the air. Yum. Looking around she finally was able to locate the source of the mouthwatering aroma. A girl. An older girl. Who was also looking at her like she had grown another head or something.
"Hey there," She called out, smiling over at the chocolate frog girl. "Did you enjoy your summer?" Yup. This year was going to be the year that Emily Anne Smith was going to come out of her shell. And it was going to be epic. She could feel it.

Melek looked up at her annoyed. Why do people insist on interrupting her reading? She sighed and frowned, "Hey... and I suppose so... I mean it was like any other season... but it is interesting to spend a season away from my home... I just transferred here... oh... ummm Im Melek or Mel by the way... third year..." She eyed the girl and finished her chocolate frog, taking out two and held one out to the girl, "How was your summer?" She started munching on the other one and smiled at the girl.
