You like to pull pranks, huh? Well, you've pulled your last if you're put here. Be prepared to clean and extract rat guts, at the minimum, for your idea of fun.
Whaaat? What was that look for? He was just trying to progress the conversation a bit. He exchanged information for some of hers. "Well that's okay because I don't need impressing anyway" he smiled, or maybe grimaced slightly. Why was she finding it so difficult to converse with him? He was a nice guy, he was sure she probably was to. Somewhere. Hidden from what he had seen of her.
Flamsteed always made Astronomy lessons that little bit more interesting in the Slytherin's opinion. He shrugged at what she said, not really agreeing. He might've been excitable perhaps, passionate was probably the better word. "Don't you think that engages you? It makes you want to listen and join in more than some of the other Professors." Naming no names. Though Terry quite liked the majority of the staff anyway. "At least you remember his lessons."
The sixteen year old shuffled on his chair only to receive a distinct clicking noise. Umm, was that his hip? He made no reaction, trying to disguise that anything had just happened and continued on as normal. "Its supposed to be a pep rally" he informed her, glancing briefly around the room. "But it looks more like a party for the ghosts." Not that it was that bad a thing, perhaps they deserved a party once in a while. Something to allow their spirits to run free, excuse the pun.
He didn't need impressing. Right. "You already impressed?" Olly said with a smirk, though clearly not serious. Honestly, she couldn't care less about what he thought of her and whether or not he was impressed. Absently combing through her hair with her fingers, she stopped to examine a strand a little more closely. Hang on, was it lighter than the other ones? But that couldn't...
Olly lifted her gaze again to Terry when he started speaking about Professor Flamsteed, without letting go of her hair at first however. Maybe it was just the light in here. Yeah, probably. "No." She replied evenly, her eyes briefly flicking back over to the professor in question. Was he waving at them? Oh great. Olly offered a nod in return. Had he just...? "Is he going to EAT that?" Because EW that food was ANCIENT. And not for them.
Ah good, it looked like he'd realized that too. Not that she cared. But watching a professor throwing up was NOT something she wanted to do.
Party for the ghosts, yeah. Olly nodded along thoughtfully, a frown on her face now as she glanced down into her cup. Which was empty. Great. And now one of the ghosts was talking to them. Well, to TERRY. Giving him another look, she slowly leaned forward in her seat and tried to get around the water cooler to fill her cup again. Without success. Okay, no more water then. Because getting up was out of the question.
Ohh, he still remembered Kennedy. The one time she didn't want her brother to make an impression he did. She gave him a rueful grin. "Yeah... Sorry about that. He's somewhat over protective." That was putting it lightly.
She laughed a bit. She couldn't imagine him just sitting and doing nothing. He was a Gryffindor after all. They weren't known for just sitting around or waiting to be saved.
With a curious gaze, she asked what's been itching at the back of her head. "Is it true strange things happen around here?" Like students getting attacked and stuff. She always figured her dad told her some stories to keep her away from Hogwarts. It didn't work.
So he's already learned not to underestimate people. "Good. I wouldn't want to surprise you." Not that she wouldn't. She might one day. Then he mentioned his mom punching some guy. Beverly gaped at him, totally impressed. "She punched a guy!" Realizing she said that a tad too loud, Beverly covered her mouth, though she was laughing. "Whyyy?" The guy must of have done something really bad.
She nodded when he spoke again. "Romania is one of the popular dragon sanctuaries." And she envied Alfred for getting to spend every day with them. She began to fiddle with her bracelet when he asked the next question. "Maybe. It'd be nice, but I don't know. My family wants me to continue with the family potions company." And while she loved potions, she'd rather see a dragon egg hatch. But that was still far away to decide.
Who knew muggle cars could sound like fun. Her dad was going to hear about it. "Too bad you can't drive them yet," she said. Kennedy had given her an entire lecture about laws and rules about cars when he'd taken her on that single ride, almost as if she'd be the one driving. "Don't you have to be a certain age?" She forgot the age, but Train Boy seemed young to be old enough to drive a car.
Could he be any more...more...perfect? Not perfect-perfect. He was easy to get along with, kind, patient AND he didn't stress. How did he do it? She'd have to ask later.
Oh, and he was in the Gryffindor Quidditch team? SEE.
Beverly remembers the rosters being put up not long ago at the Slytherin common room, so he must of have found out recently if Gryffindor posted theirs around the same time. "That's great, congrats for making the team." She grinned. "Is this your first term playing for the team?"
As for gymnastics, she shook her head. "I stopped a while ago. It wasn't as interesting as when I was nine years old." And frankly, she preferred horseback riding to gymnastics.
Allowing her gaze to wander for a bit, she caught the Astronomy professor looking their way. A slow grin crept on her face and she sent him a shy wave. In that instant her face grew warm. Oh crud, she couldn't be blushing now! He was just a professor.
Beverly turned back to Train Boy, absentmindedly rubbing her cheek with her hand. Go away, blush. Now. Thank you.
"It's okay. You're lucky to have someone that looks out for you." If he had a sister he would probably be the same as her brother. Heck, he was probably going to be like that with his brother.
Her question about the weird things that had happened at Hogwarts in previous years. "Well...uh...yeah. I mean there were a couple of incidents last year but that was the Durmstrang and Beaubaxtons students being gits. The year before though, a pack of Dementors got into the school and attacked some students and the Groundskeeper had his soul sucked out." That probably sounded really bad to a new student, huh? "But I'm sure nothing like that will happen again." Probably not a good idea to promise something like that but what else was he supposed to say?
Michael let out a small chuckle. She was already surprising him. The chuckle turned into a laugh when he saw the look on her face upon hearing that his mother had punched someone. He was so used to the way his mother was that he forgot that other people would find that strange. "I was about nine I think and we were at this fair, waiting in line." He couldn't even remember what it was for now. "And this guy pushed his way through, kinda knocking me out of the way in the process and well...mum didn't take too kindly to that." Yep, you don't mess with his mother.
Oh so she had one of those families. "Oh you're family has a potions company too? So does my dad. GothSaint Enterprises." Thankfully though his dad didn't expect him to join the company if he didn't want to. "Do you know the Newell twins?" They were in her house so she might have seen them. "Their mother owns the other half of the company." He was pretty sure that she still did. "So you don't think your parents will let you do what you want?"
Hehe. Michael grinned rather mischievously at her. "Well actually I can drive." And he did. Rather well actually. "Legally I can't though until I am seventeen." But you know, when one's mother can do magic then there is no problems.
And he seriously don't know why she worried about being in crowds or how she should act around people because he found her to be really nice. Not to mention she had a sense of humour and was smart too.
"Thanks." He BEAMED at her congratulations. "It is my first time playing on the team. And I'm just a little nervous." Okay more like a lot nervous but he was not going to tell her that. He was a guy! They don't admit to things like that.
"It would probably be a bit hard for you to continue it at Hogwarts." He grinned at her again. "But I so want to see you do a backflip some time."
Michael followed Little Bunny's gaze and found Airey Flairey staring at them. He was tempted to look down at his shirt to see if there was something on it but instead he gave the Astronomy Professor a small salute.
He turned back to look at the girl beside him to see that she was blushing. And he raised an eyebrow but made no mention of it. Girls often had crushes on their Professors.

"Oh? A fine young lady like yourself?" she asked in disbelief. She siiiiiimply could not imagine a darling like herself getting into too much trouble. "Simply divine to meet you, Sophie. I doooooooo hope you don't mind me calling you that." Being on a first name basis felt more connected to the living world than keeping with formality. She was no longer a professor after all. "I'm Marion Burbage and I just arrived in this dungeon a few brief moments before striking up a conversation with you, but I have been floating around for a few days."
Sophie blinked and displayed an obvious expression of surprise at the sound of that gasp. Merlin, she hadn't been expecting that, especially not at that volume. "Well, it's really not that bad," she assured the ghost. If the woman was alive, she'd worry about a heart attack. "I'm not really that bothered by it. Just annoyed. I'm not really too sociable of a person anyway."
That assurance was especially important now that the woman was considering talking Truebridge into holding politeness lessons. Or, that's what it sounded like, at least. Sophie nodded. "Yes, I'm afraid I was recently in trouble for fighting it out Muggle-style in the Slytherin common room," she remarked. Ohh, what a joyful time that was! Her only regret was not truly slugging Genie Pilliwickle Vanacutt.
On to other things... "No, I don't mind if you call me Sophie." It was her name, after all. "Nice to meet you, Mrs. Burbage." No Professor Burbage. Sophie had no idea who the woman really was. "Well, welcome to Hogwarts then! ...and the dungeons. They're my home away from home." Sophie wondered where the woman had been all this time and why she'd chosen Hogwarts to come visit.

Such a charming young fellow. Surely that would get him far in life.
Caleb grinned. He liked this ghost! He still had no idea who she was or why she had chosen Hogwarts as her resting place, but that was fine by him. She said he was CHARMING and was going to gush about him to Tillstorm. That could only mean good things for him!
"Caleb Newell, m'am. My sister is Sophie," he added with a grin, smiling and waving at his sister, who had already introduced herself to the ghost.

Sophie had just finished saying something else to Mrs. Burbage, when she overhead a piece of coversation between the ghost and Sophie's very own twin brother. Whaa?! Caleb was getting a good word in with Tillstorm? Sophie had to get in on that, too!
"Sophie, that'd be me," she said, edging her way into the conversation. "About that good word to our Head of House, ...you think you could swing a good sentence or two about me, too? I sort of need it..." Caleb did, too, actually. "The Head of House isn't our grandmother anymore, though," just in case the woman knew Lafay, too. "We have a new one--Healer Tillstorm."

Ahem.
That much was true. She knew she was lucky to have her brother. Bev didn't even want to think what she'd do without him. "I am." Wait for the 'but.' "But, I'm sometimes the one to take care of him as well." An amused grin danced on her lips. Hey, she had to take some credit too, okay. If it weren't for her during the summer he would have STARVED.
Ew, Durmstrangers. Beverly wrinkled her nose a little at that. She knew a few; her cousins, barbarians they were. Woah! Wait. It HAD been true? Dementors at Hogwarts and all. Great, she owed her dad an apology now.
"By what I've heard, you can't really say that," she said, but it was nice of him to assure her nothing like Dementors would happen again. She preferred to stay on the realistic side of things. Wishing and denying hardcore facts was a waste of time, something she learned from her dad. "I hope we're ready if it does, though," she mused. The DADA professor BETTER teach them something useful or Bev would be using her as a human shield.
His laugh was contagious, she couldn't help but join in. And the story behind the punch was cute, she may have let out a small 'aww.' "She sounds brave, your mum." She would have paid a galleon to see that. Bev was all about girl power.
Another potions family. They seemed common. How many potions did the world need? "Yeah, my grandmother is the head of Jones Enterprises." His had a fancier name, though. Maybe it was because all she heard was Jones this, Jones that. Gah. "But my dad and his other two brothers each manage three different branches." The Newell twins? How could she not? Especially the boy, he got PUNCHED. So she nodded in response.
She bit her lip in thought. "My dad wants what's best for me. " She shrugged. "It's complicated." She was sure Train Boy didn't want to hear all about her family's 'traditions' or customs when it came to the business.
Oh. She was familiar with that look. Not on him, but she's seen it before on others. The look of doing something he shouldn't but still doing it. "How did you ever learn? Do tell." Her interest piqued. If he could do it, then she could, yeah? Kennedy wouldn't mind... Hmm.
She smiled. "If you are, you don't seem like it." Nervous that is. He looked extremely happy about it. "You'll do great, although..." Should she say it? Nah... Well... "... Don't get too sad when Slytherin wins." Shy, yeah. Competitive, hell yeah! Heh.
He wanted to see her do a backflip? First time she's been told that. "It's not that impressive," she said, shaking her head, grinning. But maybe one day.
Oh Merlin. He noticed, didn't he? Beverly tucked her hair behind her ear and cast her eyes down. That was...embarrassing. It made it worse that her face felt warmer. Well crud.

Seren was quite at her leisure, standing, observing.. enjoying the atmosphere!
...
And then one of said party poopers had to invade her space with his presence. So nooow she was good enough to keep him company?

Despite her being disappointed in her colleagues rudeness and inattentiveness, she was still smiling politely on his approach. "Thank you, Leo," she greeted, awkwardly.. "You're looking well." No longer bouncing on the balls of her feet, Seren crossed an arm around her middle, her other hand holding her cup.
"The greenhouses are blooming, simply blooming," she noted enthusiastically. They were like her children after all.. only not nearly as gorgeous as her son...

Still. He had asked about new plants. "Not anything recently, but I'm hoping to acquire a new batch of blood root in the near future." Provided things went well for the provider.
"Any new books?" she asked, returning the friendly banter.
And Bouncing Blueberries...
Seren's smile brightened as the ghost of Marion Burbage made her grand entrance. She offered the ghostly woman a polite smile and wave. It was perhaps a little awkward that a plant she deemed safe had... killed her. Mmmm.

And she looked very proud of that fact too. "That's what family is all about, isn't it? Looking after each other." Even though he hadn't had any siblings until now, he always looked out for his cousins and Zahra because he considered her family as well and they in return had his back.
Michael managed to throw her a sheepish look. She obviously wasn't one to have things sugar coated or give false hope to. "Sorry. I guess I was doing that Gryffindor thing where I was trying to save you from the horrors at that sometimes happen here." But that wasn't fair to her, he realised because then she wouldn't be prepared for stuff. Just as she pointed that out. "I hope so too." So DADA lessons needed to pick up a lot.
The comment about his mother being brave almost made Michael burst out laughing. "That's not a word I would use to describe her." He paused while trying to think of a word but really couldn't come up with just one word to describe her. "She loves the fight. I mean she just could have told the guy to be careful or whatever but she never gave him the chance to apologise, she just punched him." Something his father was trying very hard to get her to stop doing it. "Dad says one of these days someone is going to hit back." He chuckled a little, but if that happened then that person would have to deal with both him and his father.
He had not heard of Jones Enterprises before but that didn't mean anything because he kind of zoned out when it came to the Potion business. It's not that he wasn't proud of what his dad had achieved but he just wasn't into potions. "Complicated huh? Yeah I hear that from my parents often. Is your family mainly purebloods?"
Oh that was an easy question. "My mum and grandfather taught me. Don't worry I don't drive on the roads or anything." Well not on busy roads anyway. "Just mainly out in paddocks. Although you gotta be careful of the cows." Hehe.
He BEAMED again at her encouragement before bursting into laughter at what she said after that. She may have whispered it, but he had heard. "Look at you, getting your house pride on." He continued to chuckle before adding. "You snakes have got no chance now that I'm on the team." He poked his tongue out at her. He was only kidding.
"Let me be the judge of that." Not that he was any sort of expert, mind you.
Seeing the blush get deeper, Michael gave her a nudge with his shoulder and simply grinned.

Seeing the blush get deeper, Michael gave her a nudge with his shoulder and simply grinned.
She nodded, though her real immediate family was just her dad and Kennedy. Bev wasn't really close to her uncles, aunts and cousins - some more than most, but not as close as the two males whom looked after her. She didn't want to go into detail about that, though.
That was a knew look on him during their time here. She grinned and shook her head. "It's okay. You know more than I do about this place." She shrugged. It seemed normal to not make it sound scary. "But if something fishy does happen, I'll go to you." She didn't want to hurt his hero status. Heh.
She gazed at him, eyebrows slightly raised, as he thought about another word to describe his mom. What other word besides brave could describe a woman like that? Gutsy? It took guts to punch someone bigger than themselves. Oh? She loves the fight? That was another way of putting it.
She didn't want to admit it, but the more they talked about his mom the more it brought up the thought of hers. Not wanting to drain the mood, she grinned a small grin. "She's got guts. I don't think I could ever punch someone like that," she said, mumbling the last bit.
Yeah, she was in search of her bravery. Wherever that was.
Another nod. More complicated than dragon taming, but at least she wasn't the only one. It was nice not being alone. As for his question about pure-bloods: "Yeah, all the way to Bacchus I." She accidentally recited her grandmother. Obviously he wouldn't know who that was. "He's ancestor of mine," she said, instead of adding all the 'great's' to the title of grandfather. She didn't go on to explain that her brother was half-blood. That was just as complicated. "Yours?" she asked instead.
"You make it sound easy," she observed. It was like she could just get Kennedy's keys and take the car for a drive. She was sure there was more to it than just sticking the key into the little key hole and wearing a seat belt. Ideas were forming in her head.
If only he knew she's had house pride since her brother became Slytherin Prefect. It felt like so many years ago, but she's been a Slytherin at heart since, maybe even longer. She grinned then gaped at him a little, though she was more amused than anything. He wants to go there? "I'm sure that's true," she said in a very mellow manner. "For the other houses." Heh. Not the snakes, Train Boy.
Fine, she'd let him 'judge' her backflip. "Okay, theeen."
At the nudge Beverly glanced up at him and grinned back. She should learn how to control that. It didn't help that she was fair in complexion, but there had to be a way to hide a blush. It was crucial she did!
SPOILER!!: hoooooooooooow SIMPLY looovely! The siblings!

Who was somewhat a member of their family, too.
Marion pursed her lips and floated up and down in place as she watched the young woman. Seemed like a sociable little dear to her, but what did she know? She was DEAD now thanks to a teeeeeeeeeerible and hoooooooorrid plant.
"A fight? My GOODNESS dear, that is siiiiiiiiimply not appropriate behavior for a fine young lady like yourself!" Tisk tisk TISK!
Oh and look at this! These two were siblings! Oh wasn't that just lovely? Always having someone around...not feeling all alone and looking for a companion to join you...
Marion was trying to fix this. Nothing could keep her spirits down for tooooooo long.
"New? Did you just say new?" she asked, her eyes widening significantly. "OH GOODNESS GRACIOUS HEAAAAAAAAAAVENS ABOVE! I am so terribly sorry, dears. SO TEEEEEEERRIBLY SORRY! I did not know that the Potions Mistress had suffered the same fate as myself."
It was that PLANT!

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASP!
"YOU!" she shrieked as she raised her translucent hand and POINTED her finger towards the woman. Yes, it was ruuuuuude to point. But she was going to make an exception this time. "YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU! YOU SAID THAT THING WAS SAFE! YOOOOOOU DID THIS TO ME! HOW RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!!"

Caleb's eyes widened. She thought Lafay had DIED? No, no, that wasn't the case at all! "No no no, she's fine. She just retired. She's our gran, actually," Caleb explained with a smile. "Took time off to spend with her family and stuff like that. She isn't...um, she's fine," he said. He realized that maybe bringing up the whole D WORD might not be the best thing around her...
Especially after what happened next.
Wait, what? BENTLEY did this to her? Had she...had she KILLED her?! OHMIGOSH! Caleb bit his lip and stared back and forth between the Herbology professor and the ghost, his eyes wide in shock. He hadn't really gotten a good OR bad vibe from Bentley ever, but was it true? She was a MURDERER?!
That's it. Caleb was NEVER going to Herbology again. EVER.
"I think Bentley killed her!" he whispered to Sophie in horror. AHHHHHHH.

Sophie blinked and stepped back a bit. Did the ghost have to be so loud?! A simple answer without the whole 'GOODNESS' line constantly coming out would do just fine. Wait a minute...the ghost thought Grandmother Lafay was DEAD?! Sophie grew wide-eyed. She was just about to explain when Caleb did just that.
...and then, CRAZINESS occurred.
Sophie just stared at everything around her. The ghost was fine one moment, and then she was accusing Bentley of killing her the next. *GULP* She mechanically nodded her hand as Caleb suggested the very same thing she was thinking. "Come on," she whispered, "let's get out of here before one of them does us in for good."
She pulled at her brother's sleeve as she tip-toed backwards and out of the room. They needed to go get somebody FAST!
