Summer? The word penetrated his head. Who was asking about summer? Mouth still open, Adi shifted his head. Oh! It was Caleb. Ian sort of nodded at his friend Adi. I'll get there soon. I just don't think it's something to be overly worried about. Just a bit of a sore hip. It isn't causing me too much trouble now. I can move around and all, if a little slower. Ian nodded as a boy he had heard called Caleb came up and spoke to Adi. Reason: Adding Caleb's comments.
As he made his way into the dungeon, he walked to where he heard some sounds and voices and was almost immediately overcome with the odor. He lifted up his robe to his nose and walked over to the Librarian, Leo. He yanked on his robe sleeve and asked, What is that awful smell, Mr. Kitridge?

What was the point of having that here?
Leo was quietly admiring the decorations and trying to keep himself from gagging at the sight of the ghost food. The smell was enough to unsettle his stomach. He was just about to head for the water cooler to get out of the sight of all the moldy foods when he felt tug at his robe sleeve. Turning Leo beamed. "Hi Ian," He was about to give a response when a girl joined Ian and repeated the same question. Gesturing to the tables behind him he said. "The smell comes from all the ghost food."

Never mind, perhaps she didn't want to talk to them anyway... they were both party poopers anyway. Definitely lacking some spirit.
It was just then that Leo noticed Seren or rather felt her stares. Turning to her said his guilty conscience for not noticing her right away shining through just a little. "Hi Seren, you look lovely as always." Hopefully a compliment or two would make up for his lack of attention. "How are the green houses, got any new plants?"

Urgh. Why was it that this pep rally was full of moldy, decaying and just absolutely disgusting food? What had actually happened? Was this last years opening feast which they just decided to leave hanging about in the kitchens until it could be ready to be used to torture the students?
He wasn't eating any of that.
With a wrinkle of his nose, the sixth year passed swiftly by the table of food and headed over to the water cooler. At least that couldn't be off, it could be a little warm which quite frankly was just as bad, but it wouldn't make him sick. Once he had grabbed himself a drink, the sixteen year old glanced around for somewhere to sit. True, the room was full of chairs but they were so close to the disgusting smell that Terry didn't think his stomach would be able to take it. He was starting to consider whether it was even worth staying in here. What exactly was the point of it all?

"Pretty good. Struggling to get my brain back into school mode," Caleb admitted with a chuckle. He was struggling in some of these classes, but not toooooo badly. He just couldn't like THINK. He was too worried about his crup puppy at home!
He glanced at Adi as the hair boy seemed to not realize that it was his OWN hair on the floor. Clearly Adi had noticed it and thought it was weird too, judging by his face. What WAS this?

Caleb blinked. He didn't get that that was HIS hair? Clearly it was the same color and length and stuff...whatever was up with this kid, he needed help.
And of course, Caleb would give it to him. Just not very tactfully.
"Bro, that's YOUR hair. Don't touch it! It'll make it worse," he informed him. If he grabbed at his hair in surprise or something, that'd make it fall out MORE and soon they'd have a bald child on their hands.

What even was this whole thing? If she wanted to talk to the ghosts - and it wasn't like she DIDN'T - she could just do that whenever. She didn't need a...pep rally or whatever this was for it. Not that she had seen a lot of the other rooms here. Upon realizing that none of her friends were around - or at least not to be spotted right now - Olly had headed straight for the room with the food. Because food. Was something to do at least.
Only it really wasn't food. Or well, it HAD been food once upon a time.
The smell alone made her feel like she herself had aged, like, 30 years since entering the room and she wrinkled her nose. Water, yes, she needed water. So that she'd at least get SOMETHING from in here. Making her way over to the water cooler, she may have shoved the guy already standing there out of the way a little. She wanted to get a cup of water so.
He got a look though, a slightly accusing one too for standing in her way in the first place.

Terry was just about to turn around and leave the absolutely pointless room when he got shoved out the way.
Well that was rude.
The Slytherin stared back at the girl whom he had come to realise had been the culprit of the attack. "Next time, do you think you could walk around me?" Wasn't particularly difficult if she had brains. "Otherwise this cup of water might end up on you and neither of us want that to happen." He smiled briefly at her, nice and polite like the Snake usually was.
In fact he couldn't think of anyone whom he didn't actually get along with. That could change. He must've been a Slytherin for a reason, his temper had never actually come out, not yet anyway.
"If you were so desperate for water you could've just asked to go in front of me. I would've gladly moved out the way for you." Because patience clearly wasn't in her vocabulary.

What, was he talking to her?!
Olly had just turned to actually GET that cup of water when she heard the Slytherin speak. Yeah, yeah, whatever. She didn't even glance at him until there was a cup in her hands. A water, yes, good. At least it got rid of the awful taste in her mouth from smelling the food. Was there no REAL food around here?
With a sigh she fiiiiinaaaalllly allowed her eyes to linger on the boy again. He seemed vaguely familiar, though she couldn't really say she knew his name. Might have heard it some time but she wasn't that good at remembering things that were of no interest to her. "Why are you still talking?" She gave him a bored look before glancing around the room again.
She really wanted to sit down. Standing around was a little tiring. Were those stools safe? Could she move them AWAY from the food?

Wow.
He was being ignored. Yes okay. Some people clearly lacked in maturity, either that or they thought they were above everyone else. It was those sorts of people that he hoped would fail later on in life. If you wanted to get on, you had to have people skills. Terry had them, this girl, probably not.
"Because that's what people do. You talk. You get to know one another. Its a skill most people acquire when they're babies." Simple enough? Terry didn't want to be mean to her, he hated not liking people. He was one of those sorts who got along with anyone and everyone.
He turned, pulled out a stool from around the table and wobbled it to test how secure it was. Seemed perfectly viable to him. "There" he stated matter of factly shoving the stool over towards her. She looked like she wanted to sit down and if her stomach was churning anywhere near as much as his was, she'd want to sit as far away from the food as it was possible.

SERIOUSLY?
Olly stared at the Slytherin boy. Had he seriously just explained to her why people talked to each other? "Not when you don't think the other person is interesting enough to get to know." Then you didn't talk. She only talked to someone if she needed something from them, usually. Except for her friends obviously but that was a whole other story.
Stool. Sit. Yes, good idea. She took the stool from him without a word and dragged to the wall by the water cooler, as far away from the food as possible. There she sat down with a small sigh, glad to be able to give her legs a little rest. Life was exhausting, wasn't it? Yes.
Olly took a sip from her water, eyes lazily resting on the Slytherin boy. He was in her year, yeah?

One skill Terry had acquired since coming to Hogwarts was how to come up with an answer for everything. Perhaps it was a Slytherin trait that he didn't know about but he wasn't going to let this girl win. She would stop talking down at him whether she liked it or not.
"How do you know how interesting a person is until you engage in conversation? You never know, they could have an interesting connection that could change your life. Or something in common to bond over." Though he very much doubted the latter. Plus Terry could bake and who didn't like food? No one. Exactly.
He watched her take the stool with no thank you and his opinion on the girl decreased ever more. Rude. How could she live with herself? He decided not to take a stool, in case there really was some form of wood rot and it would collapse from underneath him but instead leaned against the wall next to the water cooler. He wasn't going to give up.
"Are you going to give me the absolute pleasure of telling me your name?" he asked sarcastically although it was unclear in his tone of voice whether he was being or not.

Having cast his vote, Airey made his way towards the food tables while his stomach rumbled and gurgled. He hadn't eaten since breakfast so that he could fully enjoy everything that the pep rally had to offer. He had read about these things in his muggle books. The various flavors of popcorn. Bubbly drinks. Fried things...lots of delicious things to satisfy his hungry stomach.
Practically drooling at the thought of food, he stopped quite suddenly when the stench hit him in the face like a brick wall. If he hadn't already spotted some grey hair on his head that morning then surely this odor would have causd him to grey. But hey, at least he still had his hair. Heh.
Pinching his nose shut with one hand, he sloooooooowly stepped towards the table and peered at all the food. "So...is there anything here good enough to eat?" he asked to no one in particular.

So he wasn't going to sit. Instead he'd decided that standing next to her was a good idea. How did people not realize when they weren't welcome? Olly sighed again and took another sip of her water and looked up at him. "And? Do you have something interesting to say that could change my life?" Because if he didn't then this was a moot point he'd just made.
Before she got to say anything else, her eyes fell on a certain professor who seemed to be just as wary of the food as she was. Nonetheless, Olly did NOT want him to see her because that might make him come over and want to engage in conversation. No, thank you.
So without really thinking about it, she reached out and grabbed the boy's arm, tugging him closer to her and more behind the water cooler. Out of sight. Because if Professor Flamsteed noticed the boy he would notice her too.
"Olly." She replied absently, not really paying attention to what he was saying, her eyes fixed on the professor and...the ghost that had just entered. A loud ghost. One she hadn't seen before. Why had she not left this room when she'd had the chance?

How incredibly rude to have forgotten to invite her properly. She would have to have a word with Annie about this mishap.
Entering the next room, Sophie was met with...errr, who was that? Anyway, she was met with some ghost of a figure wailing about not getting invited to the party.
"I'd say you're not missing too much," she said with a frown. The place looked like a lot of fun, but... "Seems nobody wants to talk to anybody else." Not even the other ghosts. Sophie had been in three different rooms so far, and if her count was correct, two adults and a ghost had come in and greeted everyone in the room BUT her.
How RUDE.

Ian was standing there listening to Leo's response about ghost food and trying to respond to questions about his balding head when he heard an awful wailing sound. He covered his left ear (as he only really had one free hand) and wondered what all the ruckus was. He sort of shouted WHAT IS THE REASON FOR ALL THAT NOISE?

Heh. This girl was not particularly fond of being open and friendly with people was she? Did she have any friends? Because it must’ve taken them a long time to get through to her. He wouldn’t give up. He was a nice person and he’d get through to her. “It depends what you’re interested in” he shrugged. If she liked creatures or herbology then maybe. He had lots of different contacts because of his mum. “I have a pet Phoenix” he suggested. That one usually worked, it was such an unusual creature that very few had the opportunity of keeping.
Terry’s eyes went to follow her eye movement when he suddenly felt himself being pulled closer to her. Woah. “You’ve changed your tune” he went to smirk but she really didn’t seem like the joking type. “Is there a reason you are heading from the Professor?” he asked. He thought Flamsteed was awesome, not worth hiding from.
He watched as a ghost floated into the room screaming about not being invited to the party. “I wouldn’t call it a party..” he shrugged, talking to whoever was listening. “Its not exactly lively” he mumbled to himself but then realised what he had just said. Oops, they wouldn’t find that offensive would they? Terry thought ghosts were fascinating after all.
“I’m Terry” he replied, though he thought she probably wasn’t listening to him.

It depends blablablabla- That was lame and Olly was about to point that out when he DID finally say something interesting. Or at least, remotely interesting. Okay, it was something. She wasn't going to start squealing or get all excited over him owning a phoenix. Not really the animal person here. Nonetheless, he got a nod. "Not really life-changing but alright." Better than owning a cat for sure.
Olly didn't even deem his comment worth a verbal reply but sent a quick glare at him instead. Also she'd let go of his arm immediately once he had stumbled more or less out of sight. "He's weird." That was reason enough, yeah? Plus she didn't really have to justify her decision in front of the boy, did she? Especially not since he was now TALKING TO THE GHOST. Seriously, which part of 'hiding from the other people' did he not get? She frowned.
And smirked slightly even though she gave him a 'REALLY?'-sort of look at his next words. Not lively, seriously? It was still slightly weird that he was standing while she was sitting though. Since apparently he was staying for the time being. Well, she couldn't really stop him without attracting attention so she heaved another sigh. Fiiiine."Okay." Terry, noted.
Now, what on EARTH was wrong with this one (Ian)? "Could someone get him out of here?" He was loud. It was annoying.

See? The Phoenix line always worked. It was a great conversation starter, he hadn't met anyone else with a Phoenix and certainly not one like Amadeus. His mum was lucky with all her connections. "Your turn now" he nodded in her direction. "Tell me something interesting about you." And this was how a conversation went. Back and forth between two people. He eyed the stools across the other side of the room but Olly seemed adamant that she would remain out of sight of the professor.
Though to be perfectly honest it looked worse, hiding behind a drinks cooler. It looked like they were up to something. "I'm guessing you're not an Astronomy fan then.." he concluded. It was quite interesting, complicated and long winded but interesting nevertheless. He turned towards the feast briefly, eyeing up whether there was anything he could deem edible within the spread and then flipped back around to see her frowning at him. "What? Am I not allowed to speak to the ghosts either?" he raised his brow. Was she scared of them? Eh they were harmless. Sort of.
Deciding that he would rather sit down then stand, plus being almost 6ft it was harder for him to 'hide', he kicked over a stool with his foot, tested it for instability and then flopped down on top of it. Oh good, she had bothered to listen to his name. That was a start. Still not giving up.

HER TURN? Olly raised her eyebrows to give him an unimpressed look. Did he honestly think that this was working? "I don't have to impress you." Nor vice versa but he seemed oh-so keen on doing so. So she wasn't going to stop him. Couldn't really. That didn't mean that now it was her turn though. She shook her head slightly before looking back to Flamsteed and the 'food'.
Not an Astronomy fan? Olly gave a nondescript shrug. She didn't have a problem with the subject, really, no. It was more the professor that bothered her. He was just so...different. And not in a good way. No, not at all in a good way. "Sometimes it feels like he's 5 years old." A childish five year old. Olly was pretty sure she'd been more mature then than Professor Flamsteed was now.
"I didn't say anything..." She muttered in reply, shaking her head slightly again. Her eyes followed Terry when he did eventually get a chair for himself too. Yes, that was definitely better. "What IS this?!" This, like, this whole thing. Why were they here? And who was this ghost?

And why was there no proper food?
Whaaat? What was that look for? He was just trying to progress the conversation a bit. He exchanged information for some of hers. "Well that's okay because I don't need impressing anyway" he smiled, or maybe grimaced slightly. Why was she finding it so difficult to converse with him? He was a nice guy, he was sure she probably was to. Somewhere. Hidden from what he had seen of her.
Flamsteed always made Astronomy lessons that little bit more interesting in the Slytherin's opinion. He shrugged at what she said, not really agreeing. He might've been excitable perhaps, passionate was probably the better word. "Don't you think that engages you? It makes you want to listen and join in more than some of the other Professors." Naming no names. Though Terry quite liked the majority of the staff anyway. "At least you remember his lessons."
The sixteen year old shuffled on his chair only to receive a distinct clicking noise. Umm, was that his hip? He made no reaction, trying to disguise that anything had just happened and continued on as normal. "Its supposed to be a pep rally" he informed her, glancing briefly around the room. "But it looks more like a party for the ghosts." Not that it was that bad a thing, perhaps they deserved a party once in a while. Something to allow their spirits to run free, excuse the pun.

How incredibly rude to have forgotten to invite her properly. She would have to have a word with Annie about this mishap.
Caleb was really concerned about Bald!Boy over there - after all, his HAIR was falling out and he wanted to make sure it wasn't contagious and stuff - but then he heard a loud wailing noise. Like REALLY loud.
Oh great. Had Myrtle finally shown up?
No, it wasn't her - in fact, he had no idea who that was. After a few moments of pondering as he watched his sister talk to the new guest, he realized where he'd seen her. That was the ghost from the Tower Patch!
"Oi! I know you! I saw you up at the Astronomy Tower...you ran away though," he added. Ran THROUGH him, to be more exact.

The stench of rotten food.. It was rivaling the typical smells of animal droppings Javy's nose was already accustomed to. He stood idly by the food tables where he had spent eyeing for anything, anything that was edible and safe to digest.
Hm, Javy thought he heard a familiar sound, that got him glancing to see- Oh, the fish carrying man, Airey. Looks like he could use a bubble-head charm. "There is water.." He said simply, yes, water wasn't a food, but at least it could temporarily subside hunger.. Assuming it wasn't expired either. "It's tempting to summon something from the kitchens, isn't it?" There was something missing though, "So how's Tiberus?" Yes, he was still curious on the matter of the bass.

Darn. She turned away and wiped a tear from her cheek. "Okay," she said in a slightly wobbly voice. Ugh.
Mitchell quickly covered Goldilock's mouth with a hand. "I'm pretty sure it's rude to yell things like that." he whispered before taking his hand back. The last thing he wanted was the be the guy next to the girl insulting the ghosts. He so did not want to be haunted.
Ooooh. And there was a loud one coming in. Was that someone he should know? He looked to Goldie to see what she thought. But she... was she crying? He blinked a few times trying to decide what to do. Um. Was she okay? Maybe the smelly food was getting to her?
He cautiously put an arm around her. There. All better, right?

Making her way down slowly to the Pranksters' Penitentiary, Beverly scanned her surroundings. So this was the Pep Rally Cutty had mentioned? In a dungeon where students are sent to for detention. Kennedy had told her about his Pep Rally during his time here and it had sounded better than this.
Honest to Merlin, she felt like a criminal being down here. Without a crime to gloat over.
But there was food. Food made things slightly better. And, maybe...she was a tiiiiny bit curious about the games. Too many people though, so she just settled on nibbling on a sugar cookie.
