Default Potions 2

The class is more or less the same with the proper chairs with soft cushions to sit and lean back on, and they are still are charmed to take the most comfortable shape and height once a student is seated. The walls are still a soft, calming blue. There are just two additions: one big, grey rubbish bin by the door and a white, porcelain washbasin with a tap for those who wants to wash their hands before/after the class and who can't perform 'Aguamenti' charm (a short hose to direct the water to the cauldron is on the white, porcelain shelf hung on the wall, in case it doesn't fit the washbasin).

Professor Culloden opens the door 15 minutes before the class time and sits at his desk to wait for the students to arrive--he looks stressed this time, though. Why would that be?

OOC: If you are going to RP your characer use the washbasin or the washbasin, you don't have to take Cosgrach's permission. Just assume he has granted it.

Come in, take your seats! The class will resume approximately 10 hours later. You may chat among yourselves, but please don't go overboard with it. Thanks! The lesson has started, so please do not post your character arriving late! Just RP as if they have been there all along.

Potion progress
• One bubotuber’s pus
• 0,2 litre of seal milk
• One hellebore’s syrup
• Two puffer-fish eyes
• One leech
• One water-dwelling planaria
• One middle-sized pomegranate’s juice
• A bunch of asphodel
• 6 sopophorus beans

1. To be prepared beforehand: Add some water to a glass bowl, wear your gloves and squeeze bubotuber’s pus into it. Put it away, get pestle and mortar and crush asphodel roots. Put that away for future use too.
2. Add 0,2 litre of seal milk to your cauldron. Turn the heater to high for a minute, then lower to medium.
3. Add hellebore syrup, make a small cut at the back of the puffer-fish eyes and squish them to the cauldron. Add ONLY their liquid and vanish the eyes themselves or dispose of them in the rubbish bin.
4. Stir 3 times counter clock wise with a wooden stirrer and lower the heater to minimum.
5. Add bubotuber pus. Stir 3 times counter clock wise and 3 times clock wise with wooden stirrer.
6. Add one leech. Count to ten and add water-dwelling planaria.
7. Up until this moment, the potion should have been milky white. Wave your wand horizontally and continuously at a medium pace, starting from left to right, until it turns sparkling purple.
8. Add pomegranate juice. Wait until the potion is lime green and add the asphodel roots.
9. Crush sopophorous beans in mortar and add their juice.
10. Stir 5 times counter clockwise and turn off the heater. Wait for a few minutes until it precipitates (the solid part seperates from the liquid and sink to the bottom. The solid part's colour should be sparkling, light pink and liquid, still lime green. Afterwards, either wait until the liquid part evaporates or pour it down the washbasin.
11. Apply on bare skin.

Notes
  • The skin will be smooth like a baby's for three or four weeks (depending on the skin), but they will reappear suddenly after the potion wears off.
  • It may be used as many times as you want, because it doesn’t have any known side effects.
  • It may be used on animals too, but it kills plants.

Discussion: The term 'beautiful' and the necessity of beautifying products

OOC: It won't affect the class points. You are welcome to join even if you didn't participate in the brewing. ^____^

Tora didn't have anything to do with the wrinkles and old age things going about, she wasn't even affected (yet) by their mysterious power and because she didn't really care about potions and she didn't want to pay attention to the lesson at hand. But then, all the sudden, she had a vivid image of Gram yelling at her for not learning a wrinkle disappearing potion when she could...so she joined in the conversation. For Gram's sake.

"Do the Muggle wrinkle potions work? Or well, not potions, but pastes and mixtures and stuff. Are we going to make something like that?" she asked, not really meaning to ask quite so many questions. Ever curious, once Tora asked one question about a topic another one always seemed to crop up behind. She knew very little about Muggle beauty cremes, but this potion could have been based off of them, or vice versa. More likely vise versa considering the magical world always seemed ahead of the Muggle one in that department. Funny how the division of who was better at what was split between the two peoples. Muggles were better at inventions, magical folk were better at... well everything else it seemed.

Heh.
Cosgrach was glad to see her there, and listened to her answer with interest. Hmm... no wonder she gave a vague answer--she was still young to worry about age. Should be, anyway. With the current events in this castle, though... even he was tempted to import everything.

"I know a potion, yes." Need he say they were going to brew that one today?

Cosgrach thought it over, then hesitated before giving her a full answer.

"Elastin, or collagen?" Not that he was an expert. He just heard it was collagen. Either way... "Good answer." As much as he... didn't quite like her, he had to admit: she was decent.

True, this boy. Everyone should hear him, if they didn't want to get wrinkles early--never mind that they have done it. Oh, dear. Cosgrach looked stressed again.

"You've very right, Mister Mordaunt." He pronounced it the way Cutty had done at his first class. Names were important, so were wrinkles.

Merlin.

Magic and... magic? Cosgrach raised his eyebrows at West expectantly. That was it? He wasn't going to elaborate?

...okay. At least he'd elaborated in his homework.

...if... this condition... also affected the mind?!

"My mum says that you have to be best friends with your moisturizer, so I guess... the best way to get rid of the wrinkles is to either replace the missing collagen or moisturize it."
...of course Captain Ravenclaw was 100% correct.

"Very well, Mister Branxton. That's completely right." Cosgrach offered him a small smile that caused his natural wrinkles around his eyes to show.

N'aaaw, wasn't she an innocent lil girl. Even Cosgrach had to smile at her genuinely and let the 'a duck's feet' type of wrinkles around his eyes show.

"The first one is correct, but I'm not sure about the second one. Smiling causes wrinkles too." Albeit, without doubt, they were the best wrinkles to have.

Cosgrach was glad to hear the boy was alright.

...

Interesting. So far, only this boy had mentioned the wetness wrinkles. Cosgrach was thoroughly impressed.

"Stretching out may help." Nod nod. "But that's not what we will today." Today, they were going to restore it. Hopefully.

Was she staring at him? He frowned and stared RIGHT back. Why wasn't she answering? Had he offended her somehow? Eh, not his problem. It would be her loss in any case.

Toby, too. Now, this hurt his feelings, because Cosgrach believed they had formed some kind of friendship at the last class. He shook his head to himself, wondered whether he should speak to him at the end of the class, and moved onto the next student.

Whatever was up with Hufflepuffs, he didn't like.

As for making skin smooth again. "Cosmetic potions." One of her family's potions company focus, among others.
"Right, and right." A small smile. It filled his chest with pride when the snakes students got it all correct.

Right, she was. A Ravenclaw, no wonder. Cosgrach nodded at him.

"I don't know Olay, but you are right about the rest." That was the reason no one should laugh more than they should. Or frown. But laughing caused wrinkles too.

"They could, just not in this potion we'll brew today. But good thinking." So he wasn't the Head Boy just for his looks. Good to know.

What else was he going to say? Sander lost his train of thought.

Then he remembered and continued. "When that process starts to happen, the skin starts to lose its elasticity, and starts to shrivel...that's where you start to get wrinkles." he explained.

"To make the skin smooth again, some people bathe in milk. I guess the properties in milk helps keep its the skin moisturized,"
Cosgrach listened to Sander, and nodded in response. "Correct, Mr. Strand, though I think the milk part is just a show off." But that didn't ensure they wouldn't use that. This very potion had milk in it.

"Sir," she correct with a firm nod. Yes. There was a time and place for joking around with him, and class probably wasn't it. Sir was better. Or professor. Or... maybe next time she'd try saying 'OGO' and see if he got it. That could be like a funny inside joke. Or... not.

For the sake of Culloden not getting disappointed in her for staying quiet, she raised a timid hand and shrugged, "I know Madame Primpernelle's in Diagon Alley sells stuff for wrinkles, like Old-No-More and Up, Up, and Stay." Not that she was currently using those or anything. She was thirteen years old. "And they have one that's, like, called the Fountain of Youth or whatever, that's supposed to make you look and feel younger. So... potions can help smooth out the skin." Obviously, since it seemed like they were going to be making one, but providing examples and educating the class in the process seemed like a good idea.
'The Great One'? Cosgrach smiled--really smiled, and he looked younger for the moment that the smile lasted. He was glad she didn't call him that at class, but he couldn't help the smile too.

How he LOVED true compliments!

...and she knew those how? He raised his eyebrows at her in surprise. She... wasn't USING them, was she? He frowned to himself, but nodded in the end.

"Potions dominate the sector, yes." The beauty sector.

He... had to ask her if she used those. Hopefully not.

"Or smile, surprise, disappointment--any expression, really." Why did everyone focus on frowning? Any expression left its mark on the face. "You mean, the muggles' hot rooms?" He made a disgusted face. Ugh. He had never been to one, and he had no plans of doing that. "I think... those work to get rid of excess fat?" Goodness. Suffocated--he involuntarily reached for his neck. Even the idea made him cringe.

ANother Ravenclaw, albeit one he didn't quite like, got it all correct again.

"Right." About not worrying about it too. She was completely right. They were too young to worry about beauty.

"You're right, Ms." Something. Cosgrach was terrible with the names, so he didn't even bother asking them. He also noted how she didn't say 'frown' but laugh, and it pleased him for some reason. Frowning wasn't always a terrible thing, y'know.

The first part was correct, so Cosgrach nodded, but the second part... he shook his head.

"I'm not completely ruling it out, but I don't think so. Not for this potion, anyway."

"And, I'm not sure of any magical ingredients, but there are some Muggle creams that claim to get rid of a bunch of wrinkles. And others ground up plants or think that drinking teas is going to help. But it never does." Just ask her mom. She bought new containers every two weeks and applied it almost obsessively.
"Muggle creams do have little impact, yes." Cosgrach chose to answer her in reverse order, because he had to think about the oil thing. "Magic, though, is effective for a while." Now the oil thing... hmm... "What I know is the collapse of collagen makes wrinkles." He wasn't an expert on it, though, so he didn't want to sound too sure.

"Age, correct." Lex was Alexa Cambridge in this context? His eyes focused on the said girl, then back at the boy. Were they dating or something? Goodness. A Ravenclaw was agreeing with a Gryffindor. When did that happen? "The potions are always temporary, yes." So, unless some of these wrinkles he saw was caused artificially...

He didn't want to think about it.

Charm? This was a new one? "Do you mean..." he used to be good at charms. "Which charm?" Huh. How dare charms steal his spotlight?! Potions had always dominated the beauty industry, and it was going to do so despite charms.

Hmpf.

......a silent student.....

......and a yelling one.

Cosgrach frowned at the latter, as he had ignored her speaking to Cutty previously, and EYED her. "I hope you realise you are yelling," he told her in a serious tone, "and I hope you won't repeat it." Understood? He didn't care how she looked, or why she was all... old. He was going to teach them the potion to fix the wrinkles though, so no need to yell.

Speaking of which...

"Facial expressions, age, collapse of collagenous fibres, sun, cold and magic," he eyed them all as he was speaking to all of them, "and many more are the reasons of wrinkles. Luckily, the potioneers have found a cure, albeit temporarily." What was permanent even with magic, anyway? "Today, we will brew 'Wrinkle-Heal'." The name was cheesy, he knew, it disgusted him too, but what else could he do? "It's not as cheesy as it sounds, I promise," he said, then tapped his wand on the blackboard. The ingredients list and the first step appeared.

"The seal milk and planaria are on my desk," he told them as he indicated to his desk: there were enough 200 mililitres of glasses filled with seal milk and some smaller glasses contained the planaria with some water to keep it alive. "You should have the rest in your potions kit." He eyed them, but he wouldn't object if they had to use from his personal stock. "As you see, we have to prepare the bubotuber and asphodel beforehand, so, start."

He wasn't going to brew with them as he had already brewed his potion, but would supervise theirs.

Fun.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

The young or old? Gryffindor slowly woke up. He had completely missed the speech before or what kind of potions they were going to make because it did not really matter did it? His hearing was bad anyways and it had gotten worse since the Charms lesson. So even if he had concentrated he could not have heard it everything, just bits and pieces. As the intructions came on the blackboard, Kevin had to squint his eyes in order to read them. He wondered if this was how the Ancient Runes Professor saw everything, because he too was old...

Surprised at his own traveling train of thoughts, Kevin frowned , the wrinkles on his forehead became more visible and for a moment he had no clue what he was doing here. "IS IT NAP TIME OR EATING TIME?" He shouted out loud because he couldn't hear himself. "OH! PROFESSOR, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE...WAIT AM I IN CLASS? I WAS SURE IT WAS NAP TIME...." It didn't even occured to him that he had actually called him Professor for the very first time.

Oh wait, potions. He was going to make some kind of potion! Ha! he was so smart. Even at his age he was still smart. He put on the gloves and took out a bupopoby or whatever it was called out of the potions kit and squeeeezed the pus out in to a glass bowl. He then wiped his gloved hand on the table and proceeded to grab a bunch of asphodel roots before crushing them in the mortar without cleaning it first. When he was done he looked at his work so far and had the feeling he was forgotten something......

THE WATER! He had forgotten to add the water....wait...in where again?

There was stuff on the board. Stuff they probably needed to see. Toby COULDN'T see properly, but if he squinted and leaned wayyyyyyyyy forward, he could just about make out what was written. Maybe. A bit. And if he focused SUPER HARD, Tobias could hear what Culloden was saying, but it was as though he had water in his ears or something. The boy took a moment to press the heel of his hand against each ear and sort of plunge them, in case there WAS water in them. But no go.

So WHAT had Culloden said?

Tobias huffed in frustration at his inability to rely on TWO of his senses, but then almost instantly felt himself getting upset at the fact that he'd got frustrated again, and then just as quickly squeezed his eyes shut took a moment to block emotions. Block all emotions, make them all go away. He was becoming a pro at this.

When he was calm and FREEEEEE OF EMOTIONS again, Tobias opened his eyes and raised his hand. He spoke up rather loudly and croakily. "I can't hear what you're saying, sir." SPEAK UP, SONNY JIM. "And I can't see what's on the board."

He didn't LOOK at Culloden, per se. Just sort of... towards the front of the room.

The Last of Her Kind

Adrienne smiled back at Culloden, pleased that her somewhat garbled answer had actually been correct. And now they were actually going to start brewing! Which was always exciting. She began opening up her potions kit as he talked, glancing up at the board and back down to try to see if she had everything she needed. Bubotuber, check, puffer-fish eyes, leeches, check... oh. She seemed to be lacking in pomegranates. She didn't remember particularly clearly, but she probably ate it at some point. Sheepishly, Adrienne grabbed some asphodel and a bubotuber and closed the kit. She'd ask when the time came, maybe.

Aaaaand people were yelling (DuckyLinJi and Felixir). Why were people yelling? Adrienne cast a nasty look at them. They were disrupting class, and for no reason whatsoever! Was she expected to be able to learn in an environment like this? "There's no need to shout, so please shut it," she said loudly, directing her comments towards the two idiots who couldn't speak at a normal volume.

There's some good in this world and it's worth fighting for| LOTR|Whovian|Sherlock Fan

Sander looked up when Professor Cosgrach started replying to the answers provided before heading off to the lesson proper. So they were going to make something that should remove their wrinkles. Now this Sander knew, was going to come in really handy for him.

When the ingredients to the potion appeared magically on the board, Sander opened up his journal, picked up his quill and began copying them down.

Text Cut: Sander's Potion Journal

Wrinkle Heal Potion

Ingredients:
1. One bubotuber’s pus
2. 0.2 litre of seal milk
3. One hellebore’s syrup
4. Two puffer-fish eyes
5. One leech
6. One water-dwelling planaria
7. One middle-sized pomegranate’s juice
8. A bunch of asphodel
9. 6 sopophorus beans

Steps to make potion:
1. Clean glass bowl, mortar and pestle.
2. Add water into glass bowl.
3. Put on gloves.
4. Squeeze bubotuber pus into bowl and then place it aside.
5. Place asphodel roots into mortar and crush with pestel.
6. Once crushed put that away for future use.

Placing his quill down, Sander first opened his potion kit to verify that he had the ingredients indicated on the board. Checking through the bottles inside, he found that he had everything he needed except for the seal milk and the planaria which the Professor said he had for them on his desk.

Sander slowly rose from his seat. His bones were aching and creaking a lot more now. If only someone would make a potion to cure the aches in his body, Sander would be in seventh heaven. But for now, he was just glad to be rid of his wrinkles.

When he finally reached the Professor's desk, Sander picked up the glass filled with 200 millimeters of seal milk and another smaller glass which contained the planaria. Then he slowly walked back to his workstation, placed the ingredients on it before preparing everything he needed to make the potion.

He pulled out the rest of ingredients that was needed from potion kit, before taking out a glass bowl, his mortar and pestle, a tablespoon, a wooden spoon, a couple of clean tissues, and lastly, his trusty cauldron. First things first, he needed to clean the glass bowl and the mortal and pestle, as they were the first things he would be using.

Taking out his wand, he pointed it first inside the glass bowl and said the words to the cleaning spell, "Scourgify' and then repeated the same steps with this mortar and pestle. Sander then holstered his wand, before closely inspecting both the glass bowl, mortar and pestle, to make sure they were thorougly clean and free from any cracks.

Knowing that his memory was not as good as it used to be, Sander referred to his notes in the journal to help guide him through the potion making steps. He then flipped over to a page where he written down the incantations to some of the spells more commonly used in this class. Anticipating that once his memory started to fail, that he would have problems remembering certain spell, Sander had begun to write down the incantation and wand movements for certain common spells into his journal. He was slowly discovering that he had made the right decision doing that.

'Here it is, Aguamenti to add water' Sander read silently to himself. He then pointed his wand inside the glass bowl and said the incantation, and water began streaming out of his wand and into the bowl.

When there was sufficient water in the bowl, Sander ended the spell, before putting on his gloves. He picked up the bubotuber, held it in the palm of his hand before closing his fingers around it and began to squeeze. He watched as liquid puz oozed out of the bubotuber and into the water in the glass bowl. He scrunched up his nose as he began to smell petrol for he never liked the smell of it. Once he was sure he had squeezed out the very last drop, Sander placed the bubotuber on a tissue before placing the glass bowl aside.

Next he picked up the bunch of asphodel root, placed it inside his mortar, picked up his pestle and began crushing the root. He kept applying pressure as he continued to press down on the root, making sure that the root was throughly crushed. Then he put aside the mortar containing the crushed asphodel root. The Professor had said both crushed root and bubotuber pus water would be used later on in the potion making process.

Sander then looked into his journal again to make sure that he was so far on the right track, scratching out the ingredients he had alread used and the steps he had just carried out.

Sander then put down his quil and while waiting for future instructions, he looked over to see how his Tessa, Lux and Bay were doing with their potion making.

Tora shrugged at the Professor's comment (the Professor whom she had still not memorized by name, preferring instead to call him 'Professor Potionmaster' in her head), not really surprised that Muggles hadn't come up with a way to effectively remove wrinkles with a creme. They would probably come up with a gadget in science or something like that for this purpose eventually. If anything, his response just proved her point about what she thought about Muggle technology versus magical spells and potions; that each group had their own specialties.

She continued thinking about his topic while she did a quick "Scorgify of her glass bowl and got all the ingredients out. She didn't bother to double check to see if she had all the ingredients. She stuck the tip of her wand into her bag and said Accio gloves! She had been working on this advanced spell for a while now, but still wasn't getting very far. As proof of her failed efforts, nothing happened in the bag. Rather nothing that Tora wanted to happen happened as a great deal of crashing sounds came from where she had tried to summon her gloves to her. This caused her to give a great sigh before she gave up on magic and just rooted around for them blindly with her hand. Finally stumbling upon the gloves, she tugged them on and picked up the pus with a bit of distaste. Here goes nothing.

Once the bubotuber's pus was all squeezed out into the bowl, she reread the first line of instructions... and realized she had already messed up. She was supposed to add water to the bowl first. There were only two ingredients now so it would be OK to just add water... right? Like the communitive property in maths! She carefully removed one of the gloves to grab her Ebony wand and quickly filled the bowl with a bit of water using the Aguamenti spell. The next step was just as easy as the last two; crush asphodel roots. She set to it, before waiting for the next instructions. Oh, potions was so dull.

SUMMER FOREVER

'It's not as cheesy as it sounds, I promise.'

Delilah couldn't help but smile at that. A tired smile but still a smile. The girl stiffled a yawn as the professor proceeded to instruct them on what they were supposed to do. Okay. That sounded easy enough, yeah? First, she copied the ingredients from the blackboard onto her parchment. Because note-taking was important. Next, she headed towards Culloden's desk and carefully took the seal milk and the planaria before walking back to her own desk. Placing them on the desk, she put on her gloves.

"Ew." Delilah muttered to herself in disgust as she started to squeeze the bubotuber's pus into the bowl. This was so gross. She somehow managed to get it done before she started to crush the asphodel roots in the mortar, giving a small yawn. Okay, done. She took off her gloves and made a note of the first step. See? Efficient.

She sighed and awaited further instructions.

Wait.. WHAT?!

Terry's eyes widened as he was threatened for detention by the Professor for being tired. He blinked a couple of times, opening his mouth to respond. "I promise I won't, Professor" he muttered before glancing to his side to see Alec raising his brow at him. He gave him a look to say 'you better not let me fall asleep.' He was relying on the Head Boy to stop him from getting into trouble. But quite frankly it wouldn't be fair anyway, it wasn't his fault he was suddenly so tired.

He stayed quiet as the first questions were asked, writing on his parchment paper instead. Getting rid of wrinkles? It wasn't wrinkles that was his problem, it was this dreaded hair and that awfully blurry eyesight. As the instructions were written on the board, Terry was suddenly regretful that he had chosen to sit quite near the back of the classroom. Great. All the letters had jumbled into one blurred up mess and he had no idea what he needed.

He watched as other students stepped forward to collect their ingredients and the Slytherin followed, taking the opportunity to remember what the first instruction was as he collected the milk and the planaria. Once he had reached back to his desk, the seventeen year old withdrew his potions kit and sorted out everything that he needed onto his desk.

"Aguamenti" he said, pointing his wand at the glass bowl to fill it up a little. Simple enough, basic spells. He then put on his gloves to squeeze the pus into the bowl, a slight smirk on his face as he heard a nearby girl complaining about it. He supposed it was quite disgusting to some people but Terry really wasn't bothered by it at all. He put that to one side as he moved onto the next section. He slid across his mortar and placed the asphodel roots in before crushing them thoroughly. Once this had been completed, he placed it to one side to clear his desk for the next instructions.

Marigold was really enjoying this class now that they had a cool teacher. She grinned and waved at the Professor. HI PROFESSOR. She gave him a thumbs up.

... wrinkle heal? Marigold wrinkled her nose at the name. That was a weeeeird name. Just like Marigold in fact. She shrugged. She trusted the teachers enough for this.

So Marigold shifted a bit and prepared her bowl. She poured some water in it.

YUUUP.

And ewww squishing pus out. She got a bit squeamish while doing that, but was fine afterwards. She crushed the roots as best she could, though they were a bit uneven.

WHoops.

Bay really liked this Professor.. he's going to make Bay handsome again.. "yay no more wrinkle time" he said while taking out his parchment and quill writing down as many notes as possible.

Bay made sure that he had clean equipment to start brewing. he placed his glass bowl on his work station and poured in the water. "alrighty thats done now.. what next?" he looked down at his notes.. okay so he had to put on his gloves now…

He put on his gloves and kept looking at his notes.. he had to squeeze the bubotuber's pus.. he looked in his bag to find it.. "oh there it is" he said while grabbing it and adding it to the water.

after that he pulled out his mortar and started to crush his asphodel roots.. "man these things are hard" he said while putting all the force he could muster into crushing them… alright so thats done…

Bay put the two things that he started to the side as the professor indicated. Getting up from his seat he moved over to the Professor's desk to grab his Seal Milk and Planaria. Once he had those he moved back to his work station.. all ready for the next step.

If Toby thought he was going deaf, it was nothing compared to THIS girl. Had he literally not just said he couldn't HEAR the man, which implied that he needed to speak up just to hear himself? Surely a Ravenclaw would make that deduction. NO RESPECT, that was what it was. Kids these days didn't know they were born, talking like that. WHERE WERE THEIR MANNERS?

Toby realised just then exactly what he was thinking, and how WEIRD it was, and immediately stopped himself from going down that train of thought, shaking his head as though that would shake away the thoughts. He'd assess all this weird thinking later, but for now, he settled with staring at the girl. Just staring.

And then he looked at Culloden. SURELY he'd be on Toby's side THIS time.

Surely. He had to be.

Please.

"Hydrated, or dehydrated?" Cosgrach still nodded at the boy, though, because he believed the Hufflepuff meant the latter in the depths of his heart.

...if... this condition... also affected the mind?!

...of course Captain Ravenclaw was 100% correct.

"Very well, Mister Branxton. That's completely right." Cosgrach offered him a small smile that caused his natural wrinkles around his eyes to show.

Silent lot, eh? Cosgrach didn't mind, as long as they listened and brewed well.

"Yes?" Oh, wait, he was going to answer. Sure. Cosgrach listened to him and nodded in the end.

"They could, just not in this potion we'll brew today. But good thinking." So he wasn't the Head Boy just for his looks. Good to know.

Cosgrach listened to Sander, and nodded in response. "Correct, Mr. Strand, though I think the milk part is just a show off." But that didn't ensure they wouldn't use that. This very potion had milk in it.

"Possibly." This potion was something like that too.

Life? Cosgrach laughed genuinely again. "You're right." Life. Goodness. He was so right!

Mhmmm, the brownie girl! Cosgrach griiiiinned at her. Wonder if she would bring more brownies to him? Since his office was like a few metres away from her common room entrance?

"Correct, Ms. Adams."

...Cosgrach didn't hear the mumbling, but he sure noted the attitude. Well. His loss. He wasn't going to beg him to participate, after all.

"Muggle creams do have little impact, yes." Cosgrach chose to answer her in reverse order, because he had to think about the oil thing. "Magic, though, is effective for a while." Now the oil thing... hmm... "What I know is the collapse of collagen makes wrinkles." He wasn't an expert on it, though, so he didn't want to sound too sure.

.....two more of silent students, and one of them Cosgrach preferred to be quiet for this lesson, at least. Okay. He would be content so long as they brew it correctly.

Hmpf.

But he wished she hadn't stopped talking!

Cosgrach smiiiiiled at her. "Another perfectly correct answer." As far as he knew, she was pretty right. Especially her second answer. That was what they were going to do that day.

"...and laughing, being shocked, staying in cold weather or under sun too much..." Not just frowning, see Huffie girl and Snake prefect boy? In fact, frowning affected only a small area.

"But potions and magic, that's what we will do today."

Cosgrach shook his head. "Muggles couldn't find a cure. We have, though, and will brew that, yes."

WHO asked the questions here, though, really?

......a silent student.....

......and a yelling one.

Fun.
Okay, so wrinkles. Those were caused by age and stuff. She wrote it all down in her journal -wondering if she should actually WRITE these things- and then looked at the things at the desk.

How did you milk a seal? Was it like milking an oat? Or a sunflower? How did those work? Seriously, these were important questions. Was it something that only scientists knew? And how did they do it? Were there intense machines?

Wait, she needed to focus on other things besides milking a seal. She had to copy down the potion ingredients and the steps as she did them. That might -and by might she meant WILL- come in handy later. So that was done in her most legible handwriting. Because if you were going to read over her notes, you might as well be able to read them. Her hand STILL hurt from re-copying almost everything.

Then, she was going to have to prepare things and get ready for the potion. Because the potion had to be done. Putting on the gloves -even though she wasn't sure if they were working with anything intense, the redhead would rather not risk anything. Because burning off her hands or anything like that was NOT on her to-do list. And Rockwell taught her to always put on gloves before age six. And he wouldn't let her even TOUCH an ingredient until they were on. But first.

She prepared the two things she needed to prepare and began looking over the ingredients she would need. Okay, action plan time.

SPOILER!!: Slipper question
.....what was Bart doing? The slippers? Really? Cosgrach frowned and ignored the greeting.

"Do explain me the slippers, please, Mr. Bart." Please. He was curious, and he wasn't answering any questions of his before he got a satifying answer.

....and...how he too was an elderly now.

Disturbing. Not cool. Cosgrach didn't like that.

Bart looked down at his feet. His slippers were great weren’t they? All frogged out with his matching Pj pants. “They are more comfortable than my shoes. Plus my back has been really bothering me lately and bending down to put the shoes on was just so much effort so slippers had to do.” He was there on time that should be good enough.

SPOILER!!: First question
"Good morning everyone," he greeted them without a smile. "Today, we will work on... your wrinkles." He tried his best not to make a face. It was pretty concerning, though. He hoped they would be relieved to hear that the wrinkles would be gone for a while with this potion.

"Before brewing, I have two questions." He paused, took a deep breath, and went on: "How do you think a wrinkle forms on the skin? How can we make the skin smooth again?"

Wrinkles well that would be alright with him. He had a few wrinkles around his eyes, but some of the wrinkles weren’t showing because of his beard. Glancing at his hands he couldn’t help to think they look like his grandfather’s hands. Why so leathery and wrinkled he wasn’t sure. His mother didn’t even have old looking hands. He listened to all the other students say ingredients.

SPOILER!!: second question

"The seal milk and planaria are on my desk," he told them as he indicated to his desk: there were enough 200 mililitres of glasses filled with seal milk and some smaller glasses contained the planaria with some water to keep it alive. "You should have the rest in your potions kit." He eyed them, but he wouldn't object if they had to use from his personal stock. "As you see, we have to prepare the bubotuber and asphodel beforehand, so, start."

He wasn't going to brew with them as he had already brewed his potion, but would supervise theirs.

Fun.

The name was cheesy he would have to agree with the professor, but he couldn’t help but be happy for the wrinkles to be gone. Squinting at the blackboard Bart took his parchment and got up to move a little closer. He couldn’t see and he wanted to write all this down. Once it was done he went back to his desk to make sure he had all the ingredients. “Are you kidding me.” He said frustrated putting up his hand. “Professor I forgot my potions kit.” How could he forget his favorite subject things.

He made his way to the front getting the seal milk and the planaria from the professors desk before pointing his wand “Scourgify” making sure his bowl was clean before moving to his next step of “Aguamenti” Filling water into the bowl he then put his gloves on thankful he remembered those and squeezed the pus into the water. Putting that aside he blanked on the next step. What was he to do again. Squinting at the blackboard he scratched his bald head not being able to see and forgetting he had notes right on his workstation.

~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

Hydrated? Dehydrated? Er...It was safe to say Adi had forgotten which of the words meant dried out. He look confusedly at the Professor. "Um...the one that means stuff are drying out or loosing their moisture content.'' Dehydrated, it was? Gah! All of a sudden he wondered what potion they were even talking about. Why were they even talking about hydration and dehydration?

The Puffer listened to the man go on. Wrinkle- Heal? Was that what they were brewing? Okaaaay. Maybe this would get rid of those horrible wrinkles they had. Did he have wrinkles? Abandoning the question, he scribbled down the list of ingredients that had magically appeared on the board as well as the first step. Now he got to work.

The first thing he did was gather the ingredients both from his potions kit and from Culloden's desk. Now what? Oh yes! Water in a bowl. Adi set the glass bowl in front of him and used Scourgify on it. Next came the water using Aguamenti. That done, he slowly pulled on his gloves. Did he need to Scourgify those too? After some thought he decided that was not necessary. He picked up the bubotuber and enclosing his fingers of his left hand around it, squeezed. The pus gushed into the water.

Now for the mortar and pestle. Adi Scourgified those too before placing the asphodel roots in and began to crush them. Crush, Crush, Crush...Hey, this was fun! But what Potion were they brewing again?

Nigel did not care what it was called as long as it works. Wrinkles are not fun on somebody so young and with such great hair. He heard something about ingredients on the desk and the rest they already had. No his hearing was going bad nope. Not going to admit it.

Did he say start. Nigel did not hear it. But saw some people get started. So away he went getting started on the cauldron first."Scourgify” Nobody wants a dirty cauldron. "Aguamenti" There cauldron fill up and flame lit. Now onto the the bubotuber and aspohdel.

Add water to a glass bowl, check. Have some gloves one because the pus is disgusting. Also check. Nigel squeezed the pus into the glass bowl, put it away, and moved on. Crushing the asphodel roots in mortar was just simple. Nigel saw the blurry instructions and put that away for future use too.

So what next?

Lux nodded at the Professor, smiling at what he was telling her. Well, she had not thought that smiling could give someone wrinkles, so she supposed she would end up with a lot of them by the time she was older!

Looking at the blackboard, she copied down everything that the Professor had written:

Procedure:
1. Clean equipment
2. Add some water to a glass bowl
3. Put on gloves
4. Squeeze out bubotuber's puss into bowl and put aside

Taking out all her equipment, Lux placed it onto her table before heading up to get the seal milk and planaria. Once she was done that, she set about cleaning first a glass bowl and then her mortar and pestle with the Scorgify spell. She knew that having clean equipment was very important. Pointing her wand inside the bowl, she used the Aguamenti spell to fill it with some water. Now was the grosser part, where she had to get out the bubotuber's puss. EWWWW.

Placing her gloves on first, she slowly and carefully squeezed the puss out into the bowl of water. Why was this so gross? She did not want to look at puss. With that part done, she set the bowl aside and went about the task of crushing the asphodel roots in her mortar. When she was finished, she put that aside as well.

Crossing what she had done off, her notes now looked like this:

Ooooookay, then... this was fun. Not.

Theo popped a glass bowl in front of him, followed by his wand which he pulled from his pocket. "Scourgify." He began with, of course. Aguamenti!" He looked up to see what the professor was doing. Wait, wasn't he demonstrating, too? Bahhh, that was usually a good helping point for Theo. Oh well. Once a tiny bit of water was squeezed out, he put his wand away and then searched for his gloves.

GASP, WHERE ARE THEY?

Oh, there. Phew... Theo would have had a head fit if he couldn't find them. He loved those gloves. The Prefect pulled them on tight and then picked up a bottle of butotoboebebrbrber pus... or whatever it was called. He squeezed it into his bowl, with a screwed up face because it stank real bad.

Theodore pushed the bowl aside and then pulled the mortar closer. He placed some of the asphodel gently into the mortar and crushed it... not so gently. Aaaaaaaand that went to the side, too.

Kace was smiling when the professor disapproved of the muggle going to the spa. He chuckled because that is what he thought when he thought of his mother and sister going to the spa. But apparently they were going to make Wrinkle-Heal potion. Kace didn't know why he needed to make it. He wasn't having wrinkles anytime soon.

Its not as cheesy as it sounds.... Kace begged to differ. He saw the professor put the information on the blackboard and then began to copy it down into his notebook.

SPOILER!!: Kace's notebook

First before he touched the ingredients, he needed the gloves. He searched for them in his backpack. Once he found them, he went to go clean his equipment. He got the bowl and said "Scourgify!" and then was done cleaning the bowl. Now onto his cauldron and he cleaned that off, "Scourgify!"

Then he went to the tiny bowl and filled it up with water. He said the charm, "Aquamenti!" and then the bowl had water. Now he needed to squeeze the bubtober puss into the bowl. He wore his gloves to be cautious. He got his gloves on firmly and then squeezed one bubotobers pus and then needed to get the asphodel roots.

Once he got the asphodel roots and then put them into the mortar. He began to crush them into his pestle.

Crunch....crunch....crunch....

And then was waiting for the next set of directions.

...and she knew those how? He raised his eyebrows at her in surprise. She... wasn't USING them, was she? He frowned to himself, but nodded in the end.

"Potions dominate the sector, yes." The beauty sector.

He... had to ask her if she used those. Hopefully not.

Fun.

Sophie NOTICED the way Culloden was eyeing her, and she had to look away. She couldn't lie well to him, or apparently at all, and she almost looked a little ashamed. She almost managed a little smile, though, because at least he didn't disapprove of her answer. She giggled a little, though - Wrinkle-Heal? Well, at least the name was pretty straight-forward. She WAS pretty sure, though, that it WAS as cheesy as it sounded. No matter, it would be nice to know how to make a wrinkle-reducing potion rather than just buying it. Much more convenient.

Shuffling out of her seat and around her table to the professor's desk, Sophie offered Culloden a sheepish smile as she picked up the glasses of seal milk and planaria before returning to her seat. She wanted to make sure she had everything ready to go at her station before starting, yeah? So she could follow instructions fluidly with no interruptions? Plopping back down into her chair, Sophie used the elastic around her wrist to tie her hair back into a bun so it was out of the way. Then, just... to be extra safe and because she could feel Culloden's scrutiny whether he was avidly paying attention to her or not, she took her wand and did a quick, "Scourgify," on everything once more - the outside of the two new glasses, her bowl, the tabletop, her gloves, her mortar and pestle, all of her various other tools again... but then she acknowledged that she was being overly meticulous and neat, and set her wand down to stop herself. Everything was good and clean, Soph. Yes. Okay. Good.

Drawing her gaze up to the blackboard, Sophie squinted a little bit to let her eyes focus on the words - ingredients, right. And... first set of instructions. Easy enough. Sliding her glass bowl in front of her, she cast, "Aguamenti," into it, filling it with water about halfway, then stopped and peered up at the board. Hm. Just... SOME water? What did that mean? Did it really matter? She assumed it didn't so much, otherwise Culloden would've given them more specific instructions, so Sophie set her wand off the the side and slid her gloves onto her shaky hands.

Was it abnormally cold in the classroom or was it just her? And why were people shouting? It hurt her head.

Picking out one bubotuber from her potions kit, she held it low over the glass bowl and carefully squeezed the plant and... found some satisfaction every time the pus burst from it and right into the glass bowl below. That was fun, wasn't it? Oddly amused, she plucked a tissue from her kit and set the plant on it to keep her work space mildly clean, in case there was any leftover pus that wanted to come leaking out. With that done, she slid the gloves from her hands and pointed her wand at them, "Scourgify." She was just... going to keep cleaning up after herself as she went. No cross-contaminating or anything in case there could be adverse side effects from ingredients meeting too early, yeah? There was no way she was going to let Culloden be disappointed in her anytime soon. Nooope.

Sophie put the newly cleaned gloves back on her hands, pushed the glass bowl off to the side, and brought her mortar and pestle in front of her. Carefully, with her hand hanging over her potions kit for a long moment, she had to actually think really hard about which plant in there was asphodel root, and she wasn't going to pick one unless she was absolutely certain - but yes, there! Just a lapse in memory was all. Adding the root to the mortar, she took her pestle and crushed it up nice and good. Crush, crush, crush.

So... far so good?

Good answer. He had gotten a good answer. Awesome.

And of course Alec wouldn't let Terry fall asleep in class. What kind of friend would do something like--

... WHY WERE PEOPLE YELLING?!

Letting out a small groan, the boy squeezed his eyes shut and tries his hardest to block out the sound instead. They had a potion to be brewing, you know. And Alec really liked the idea of being able to get rid of those small wrinkles that had appeared near his eyes. The last thing he wanted to do was leave them and let them get worse. Look what leaving things had done to his hair!

... Exactly.

Blinking his eyes open again, the boy took a deep breath before looking over at... SQUINT. BLINK BLINK. SQUIIIIIIINT. ... No. He couldn't see that properly. Just a bunch of fuzziness. Maybe he needed to see the optician over the holidays. Grabbing his journal and quill and making a small face at the idea of visiting the opticians, he slowly made his way up to the front and started copying the ingredients and steps down. Scribble scribble scribble...

... And... on his way, he'd just grab some of that seal milk and planaria, yeah? Awesome.

Heading back to his seat with his ingredients and his journal and quill, he set the items down again. There. First thing's first was... the glass bowl, right? Pulling that over towards him, he whipped out his wand and...

... spell? Cleaning spell? Frantic, he glanced around at those sitting near him. Was no one using that? The boy kind of needed to-- ... Nigel. Nigel was going something to the cauldron that involved cleaning. Right? The Head Boy was watching. Carefully. ... Scour... gify? THAT'S IT! Scourgify! "Scougify!" There. Glass bowl was clean. Thank you, Nigel.

Next was water, which was simple enough. "Aguamenti!" Once the bowl had been filled, the boy set his wand down and glanced over at his journal while strapping on his gloves. Bubotuber pus? Erm... okay. Pulling that out from his potion's kit, he started squeezing it into the-- ... Petrol?! Was that what it smelt like? He made a face at that but continued squeezing the pus out all the same. To make things worse, the eighteen year old was getting tired at all of this. Tired. Very quickly. Very very tired, he was.

When that was finally done, he placed the bowl off to one side, grateful to not have to smell that awful smell of the bubotuber pus. Petrol, you know. Alec pulled the mortar and pestle closer instead and cleaned them with his wand. Asphodel, yeah? A bunch of that was added to the mortar and started crushing it using the pestle. Crush crush crush... ... This proved to be difficult and tiring too.

... And... that was placed off to one side too, when he was done. Could they take a break now?

Frowny Professor was staring back and Ella almost held his gaze because grumpiness was weirdly empowering but she couldn't do it. It wasn't in her to have a staring contest with the man and so instead she simply glanced down at her notes again, adding the causes Culloden was mentioning and the name of what they'd be making. Wrinkle-Heal. Hopefully this stuff worked. She needed it to work.

And they were getting started which was good. The sooner the better, yeah? The blonde slowly went up to fetch the glass of seal milk and the smaller glass of planaria first. When she returned, she placed them to the side and opened her kit, mentally checking off that she had each ingredient they'd need for this particular brew. So far, everything seemed to be there. Good thing.

Pulling a glass bowl towards her, Ella cleaned it with her wand. "Scourgify." And after glancing down at her notes, the eighteen year old added some water to the bowl. "Aguamenti." Just a little. "Finite." What was next again?

Oh, gloves were needed for this time. The eighteen year old fished them out of her bag and tugged them on, giving them a once over. She cleaned them regularly because of how much use they got so they were completely safe to use now. Now for the gross part. The Head Girl slowly began to squeeze the pus into the bowl, wrinkling her nose as she did. She was also ignoring the pain she felt as the act of squeezing wasn't particularly enjoyable for at this moment. Once done, she placed it to the side and checked her notes again.

Mortar and Pestle next. Ella cleaned those two before setting to work crushing the asphodel roots. It took a while but once she was done, she set that safely aside too. She was ready to move one now.

SPOILER!!: Notes

Toby realised just then exactly what he was thinking, and how WEIRD it was, and immediately stopped himself from going down that train of thought, shaking his head as though that would shake away the thoughts. He'd assess all this weird thinking later, but for now, he settled with staring at the girl. Just staring.

And then he looked at Culloden. SURELY he'd be on Toby's side THIS time.

Surely. He had to be.

Please.

Ugh. Adrienne could not believe there was someone this immature in her year. Honestly! He couldn't even be bothered to respond when someone was speaking to him? And now he was staring at her like an idiot. She rolled her eyes and glared at him and then turned back to the board. At least he was quiet now, so she could get going on her potion.

"Scourgify," she said, tapping the glass bowl in front of her, and any invisible dirt or dust that had been on it before was now gone. Adrienne herself had never seen the necessity of scourgify-ing everything, because it was obviously clean, but Lafay had been scary enough to keep her from ever forgetting it again. And what was next... she squinted up at the board, too lazy to actually stand up and move to a place where she could see better. Ah! Yes, the bubotuber. Always satisfyingly gross to work with. She pulled on her gloves, struggling slightly, and then wiggled her fingers before reaching into her bag and pulling a squirmy bubotuber.

Adrienne grinned at the weird black sluglike plant, and then tried to keep her face out of the way as she began squeezing it. She'd heard horror stories of pus squirting out and burning peoples' faces, and that was in no way something she wanted to let happen to her own. It was way too valuable! Besides, the smell was awful. The yellowish pus oozed out slowly and disgustingly into her bowl. Theeeere we go. She peeled off her gloves, leaving the empty bubotuber on the table by her bowl, and moved on to the next instruction: asphodel.

It had to be crushed, right? Right. So, mortar and pestle, and she dumped the roots into the mortar part and began smashing them forcefully. Pent-up aggression? What pent-up aggression?

Gwen was getting more and more used to having correct answers these days. So, no on the Olay, but he'd said she was right! Maybe she should tell her mother to stop using Olay if Culloden didn't think it worked.

She set her glass bowl exactly in front of her at the table and pulled her gloves from her bag slipping them onto her fingers. Apparently over-cautiousness was good at this school. Next, squeeze bobotuber pus. Ugh. She hated the word. The stuff was gross. She leaned back a little as she squeezed the nasty pus into her glass bowl. Gross.

Sliding the glass bowl away from her Gwen swapped it for mortar and the crushy thing that had a name she couldn't remember. It was a crushy-stick thing. Asphodel roots next. She measured them out and meticulously crushed them in the mortar until they were a fine powder, because perfectionism and things. Done. If they had to drink the stuff with the pus in it, she would rather take the wrinkles. Because that was soo not going to happen.

The name was cheesy, he knew, it disgusted him too, but what else could he do?

Penelope didn't really think she needed a wrinkle potion or how to brew one because she didn't have wrinkles, but it was probably good for all the others that seemed to be getting them for whatever reason. A grey hair potion would be good too...and even she probably wouldn't have said no to that one. Her hair wasn't completely grey or anything, but she thought she'd spotted a couple grey-ish strands the other day. Could've just been her imagination though. Being practically surrounded by students with grey hair would make anyone paranoid.

Anyway...

She scribbled down the ingredients and first step in her notes then went up and grabbed the seal milk and planaria stuff and brought it back to her table. Then she grabbed a glass bowl and almost went ahead with the Aguamenti spell before pausing. Wait...there was something she should do with it first, right? Some other spell...

She glanced around at some of the others in the room and caught the sound of one of them casting "Scourgify." That was it! Yes, that one. How could she have forgotten that? Seemed a weird spell to draw a blank on, but sometimes that did happen, she supposed.

After Scourgifying the bowl, she quickly cast Aguamenti as well and then grabbed her gloves. Should she clean those too? Eh, sure, why not. "Scourgify." And then she slipped them on and squeezed the bubotuber pus into the bowl, wrinkling her nose a bit at the smell.

Once that was done, she set it to the side and grabbed the mortar and pestle. Another Scourgify was cast on those two and then the asphodel roots were dropped in and promptly crushed. Then those were set aside too.

First step done.

Text Cut: notes
Wrinkle Heal
-One bubotuber’s pus
-0,2 litre of seal milk
-One hellebore’s syrup
-Two puffer-fish eyes
-One leech
-One water-dwelling planaria
-One middle-sized pomegranate’s juice
-A bunch of asphodel
-6 sopophorus beans

1. Add some water to a glass bowl, wear your gloves and squeeze bubotuber’s pus into it. Put it away and crush asphodel roots in mortar. Put that away for future use too.
