Tall trees on either sides of the path and grass covering the area, the Pathways is a beautiful place where you can simply relax by sitting in front of a tree or taking a walk on your own or with friends without having to think about school work. Enjoy the fresh air while you can before your next class inside the castle begins.

Pfft. That wasn't what she meant and she turned to give Romulus a LOOK that said just that. Of course she knew everyone had parents. She just thought maybe they were in the same situation, but they weren't. And now all of a sudden, she didn't want to talk about family, especially parents anymore.
She gave a little huff as she pulled her arm away from his, and taking a few steps away from him, she began to walk a little bit faster up the path. She would've thrown the book at him, just for being as stupid as he was being, but it was a heavy book and she didn't want to have to drag him to the hospital wing. Even though she probably could've just blamed it on him walking while reading.
"I don't know why you're being so mopey about that." So? He hadn't seen his parents in two years. SO? "It's not like you can't see them again. And at least you have other places to go." As for that being the reason why he was a git towards her on the train, that was a really lame excuse.

Katarina was walking around outside, minding her own business. She had managed to deal with moving to England and then being put into a new school at the end of summer, but things were beginning to become overwhelming. What with new classes and a severe lack of people to talk to--which could be blamed on the fact that Katarina wasn't the most social person to begin with--she felt like she just needed some fresh air.
Maybe the sunshine would reflect through her mental lightbulb, and she would think of ways to make friends. Though Katarina had spoken to a few people, she had not yet connected with anyone. Plus, at least half of those she had had conversations with couldn't understand her when she spoke.
Sighing softly to herself, Katarina picked a nice looking rock and sat down on it, keeping her back straight as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Perhaps the extra oxygen would help her sort out the thoughts running through her head.
Tora thought that the day was amazing. A-maze-ing. Which was why she was outdoors and around the grounds instead of cooped up in the Ravenclaw Tower. Not that she went there often anyway, that stupid door knocker wouldn't let her in half the time, normally she settled for a bench and a nice book, but today she needed to stretch. But who would ever want to stretch alone? She grinned at Adrienne walking beside her. It was worth it to drag her best friend out here, Adrienne needed some sun and outside was more fun with a friend to get into trouble walk with.
Tora flipped around to walk backwards along the path so she could talk to Adrienne when she noticed someone just sitting on the side of the path. Oh? This girl was older than a first year, probably around Tora's own 13 years of age, but she looked unfamiliar. Was this a new student? She had heard of transfers but hadn't met many. She paused, almost bumping into Adrienne, and walked over to the other girl. "Hello, you're new here," it wasn't a question, more a curious statement. As in: Yes, I already know you are new, but WHY? One slightly more thorough glance at her clothes identified her as a Lion. Probably the reason why Tora didn't know or even recognize her, then. She didn't particularly like Gryffindors.

*The girls very sudden change in mood more than left Romulus confused. Hadn't she been the one who had asked about his parents? So why get all upset with him? Maybe it's like what Jacen had said. Girls getting mood swings at the flip of a knut. No that couldn't be it he thought, it wasn't logical. He must have said something to upset her. Running after her he soon moved to standing in front of her blocking the way.*
"Wai- wait a tick. What just happened? If I said something to upset you I am sorry. The thing is I know that I can see them again, but by always brushing me off and not showing up it... Well they must not want to see me. Look I am sorry if I upset you in anyway. I didn't mean to."

It wasn't that Adrienne didn't want to spend time with her best friend, it was just that she would have preferred to do it somewhere other than outside. What was wrong with the common room, or the dorms, or the library, or they could even go get some food? (not that it was anywhere near a mealtime). It was nice and warm in the castle, and she didn't have to squint because of the sun. Still, Tora had been adamant, and here they were. And she was enjoying herself, too, surprisingly so, even though being outside meant she had to wear shoes.
"Yeah, but pasta is clearly better tasting. Besides, it's so much more diverse! You can have it with, like, any type of sauce, and it comes in so many different shapes and flavours and colours!" she said, continuing their conversation and falling into step with Tora as she changed positions. "I don't even really like rice, honestly." And then... hello, she'd stopped for no apparent reason. Adrienne nearly walked into her before she registered that, and took a step or two back. Why weren't they walking anymore?
Oh, a person. She sent Tora a subtle 'why do you keep doing this to me' look, having zero desire to interact with anyone she didn't already know right now. There were days for making alliances, and there were days for hunkering down in warm places with a book and ignoring the world. Today was of the second kind. "I wouldn't sit there if I were you," Adrienne said to the new girl, voice dripping with false kindness. "Doxies tend to frequent the area." A test of gullibility disguised as concern, always the best way to meet new people!

Katarina took another deep breath before she slowly opened her eyes when she heard people approach and then speak to her. She took in their appearances and listening to their words. She listened closely to everything they had to say before beginning to respond.
"Yes, I'm new here." Katarina agreed with the first, blonde girl. "I transferred here from Germany at the beginning of the school year." She went on to explain, though that was potentially unnecessary considering her accent. "I take it you two are not new here then." As she spoke, Katarina took in the robes of the two girls. Both of them were Ravenclaws, she noted. The information didn't mean much to her, as a new student, but she supposed it was telling about their personalities.
Apparently, they were not the brightest of Ravenclaws. "Doxies prefer colder temperatures. I doubt that there would be any out here in direct sunlight. Thank you for your concern, though." Katarina smiled genuinely then, because she preferred to give people the benefit of the doubt, and maybe she had just imagined the tint of unkindness in the girl's tone. It was possible she really had just been worried about doxies.
Despite her words, Katarina stood up so that she was at eye level with the two. She didn't want to seem rude by sitting down when she'd just met them. This, so far, was already one of the longest conversations Katarina had had with anyone at the school. She figured it was just easier to make friends in her first language. Or at least, that was what evidence showed so far. Even so, she wanted to at least try with these two.
Lana was not at all pleased with what her sister was telling her and she was actually rather put out at the way her sister was telling her these things. All summer, she had be made to feel like the terrible daughter because of her own actions, but in reality; she was actually the good one. "So you think just completely cutting yourself from everyone is going to make things better?" she asked in a shocked tone. It sounded like that was just going to be the way her sister was intending on dealing with things. "No contact for months? That's what you call a break?"
"They spent all summer worried about you!" Her sister really had no idea what they had done to their parents over the summer. "Everytime they owled or called me, they asked about you. I should have known some thing wasn't right," she scoffed at herself. "I spend the summer in the city and biking around the countryside. I wasn't home but for maybe a week this whole summer," she finally admitted. There were of course more details, but those were really of no importance at the moment.
Laura looked at Lana and sighed, this was getting them nowhere fast and this was why she really didn't want to talk about it. "No that's not what I intended to do at first." Laura pouted surely her sister knew she hadn't intended to do anything like this. "At first I was just going to grans but no one was there so I decided to call a friend and it snowballed from there." Laura sighed. "And I thought about writing but I got distracted racing horses, I have three, Lightning, McQueen and Rocket." Laura beamed, she had fallen in love with her horses and had actually won a few races over the summer with them. "And time just flew by without me realising it."
Laura then looked at her sister, why was she being so mean when she did exactly the same thing except her parents knew where she was and how to get in touch. It was hard getting in touch with someone who was so busy with racing horses and spending time out with them all the time. "What else did you did Twinnie." Laura looked down at her feet.
Delilah looked up to find someone suddenly standing next to her. She was a Gryffindor, yes? The blonde did remember seeing her around somewhere.. And then she blinked. Sugar? She frowned and shook her head.
"I don't think Lola likes sugar.. I don't know. But, she's just being lazy right now." Delilah gave her kitty a disapproving look. Really, Lola. Be active. SIIIIIGH. She turned towards the young girl again and gave her a small smile.
"I'm Delilah."
A kitty that didn't like sugar? Like NOBODY didn't like sugar not even diabetic people, they just weren't allowed to have it. Sad life for them, but not for Abbi so SUGAAAAHH!
"Has she ever had it?" You couldn't know for sure if you hadn't tried. "Is she diabetic?" Maybe THAT was actually why. Abbi looked at the kitty as the girl did and smiled right back in return. Nice person...so far...and with a pretty name too.
"Hey there Delilah. What's it like in New York city?..." Okay okay, the singing stopped. "I'm Abbi."
"Yes, I'm new here." Katarina agreed with the first, blonde girl. "I transferred here from Germany at the beginning of the school year." "Germany?" Adrienne asked, slightly incredulous. Not really disbelieving, as the accent was definitely real, but it was just that there were so many foreign students! Turkey, America, Germany, she really was meeting people from all over this year. And to think she'd been expecting a bunch of English people again. "Where did you go to school there?" Papa had spent a few years in Germany (not that he spoke German), and he'd mentioned several schools for witches and wizards, so she was wondering if this girl went to one of them. "Nah, I'm a third year. Tora too," she said, nudging the girl beside her.
She raised an eyebrow. "So you are smarter than you look!" Adrienne said, surprised that she'd actually known something. Usually Gryffindors were more brawn (and recklessness) than brain, at least in her experience. "Well done. I'm Adrienne Rebecca Colbert." As the German girl stood up, Adrienne extended a hand for her to shake. It was more polite than she normally was when meeting new people, but she supposed it wasn't too much effort to shake hands every now and again.

Fresh air. Tag needed to take in the fresh air before a chill would overcome Hogwarts within the next few weeks. So, the boys feet was taking him to wherever they wanted. But like always, Tag had the set idea of always arriving outside. Eventually, when he did look up he saw he was aimlessly wandering about the pathways. He stopped in the middle of the road and just stared about at all the trees and started to randomly laugh at himself. Yep. He was laughing. Until he stopped, that might freak someone out.
The leprechaun was slightly tired of walking, he had come from so far away of course, considering his house. His legs needed a rest so he found a nice tree nearby and rested his back against its bark and slowly lowered himself to sit on the earth. Peace.

Winter was coming.
Kind of. But not really.
Autumn, at least, was upon them, and the days were starting to draw in. But it was still such a nice day out, that Tobias decided it would be good to go out for a run a little earlier than usual, enjoy the sunlight and everything.
He was making good time on this particular route, but he still stopped. Mainly because the Hufflepuff found that these days he needed to concentrate on his feet to make sure he didn't trip, and that meant he couldn't admire the grounds.
And now that he'd stopped, that was exactly what he would do.
He was just looking at the trees and such, and grinning (obviously) when he saw someone... vaguely familiar? Tobias thought he knew the older boy, but the name escaped him. What he did know, however, was that this was a friend of Alec, which meant good person. Which was all he needed to know.
"Hi there!" the Hufflepuff called out cheerfully, beaming at the older boy and giving him a wave, despite not knowing him well. "Nice day, ain't it?"

Yes, she hadn't been home long, but she haven't completely turned her back on her family whilst she distanced herself from them.

Sitting and just glancing about the trees and pathway, that's all Tag was doing at the moment. Every now and then he tried to see if he could recognize any of the students, or perhaps even Professors, that may be walking by.
People watching. That's what he was doing.
Such peace out here.
Oh. But Tag was being greeted at. Or addressed. Both of those yes.
"Hello!" Tag responded just as chippy. The kid sounded happy, Tag enjoyed anyone who seemed to be rather happy. "Beautiful day. Seems like your run has brought you to a marvelous place." Tag added on, even giving the kid a wave back. Or, at least it looked like he was here for a run, based off his clothes.
"How are you?" That was a normal question to ask when meeting someone knew. He looked somewhat familiar, but Tag couldn't place him.

Delilah nodded her head. "Yeah, my sister fed her sugar a few months ago but I'm not sure she liked it much." Lola was quite picky about what she ate, actually. She did have a good appetite, though. Which was a good thing. Wait, what? She blinked at the younger girl. "No! No. Of course not. She's still a baby. Only almost a year old now." So, no sickness or anything. Nope.
... She laughed. Yeah, she did get that a lot. "It's lovely in New York City." Cause she visited that city quite often and it certainly was quite amazing. Delilah grinned and extended a hand. "I like your name, Abbi." Nod nod.

Laura looked at her twin sister, ignoring about gran and things. "Yes I have three horses and I race them." Laura beamed, she wasn't sorry about that. "I've got three offers to race for different stables but I'll decide later what I want to do." Laura really couldn't wait to decide. "A couple of offers here in the UK and a few other abroad."
Laura was a bit shocked. "A city here and there, you should never go to the city alone." Laura pouted, "You could have phoned me." Okay so she hadn't left a number but an OWL would have found her. "I would have invited you to the stables where I stayed. "My friends father owns them." Laura smiled. "I just got distracted with horses and with the time zone different it was hard." Laura really hoped her sister wasn't mad with her.

Lana took another moment to take in what Laura was telling her. Her sister was racing horses? That just wasn't something that she would have thought her sister was in to, but then again maybe they were really growing apart after all. "Wow, I'm not sure that to say about that Silly Bean." There had really been offers? She would have to talk to her sister more about that later.
"I really wasn't alone and you know that I know better than to go alone," she scoffed. Did she really think she was that irresponsible to do something like that? "I was with a few people, who mum and dad know, so I was safe and I did call home often," she added. That was one of the conditions after all for her being able to travel during the summer. "You know that I totally expect you to owl mum and dad the moment you get to the castle."
Bri was talking a nice stroll down the pathway. It was absolutely gorgeous out here, she couldn't believe she has never been out here before. The young Hufflepuff breathed in the fresh air.
After a little way she found a tree that look like it had a comfy spot at the base just perfect for sitting. The brunette skipped towards and sat down with a soft sigh. As she was getting comfy, Bri felt something in her pocket, The first year reached into said pocket and pulled out a vial. 'Oh yeah, I still need to the potions homework.' Bri thought to herself, before shrugging and putting the vial back in her pocket, she had plenty of time before the due date. She leaned back on the tree, closing her eyes and soaking up the freshness of outside.

Ana was walking around outside, enjoying the weather and the freedom that the grounds seemed to offer. That wasn't the only reason for her walk though. She was looking for a victim willing helper to test her potion out on. Even though there was still heaps of time to get the homework done she'd prefer to get it out of the way. Otherwise she'd likely forget, which would be a bad way to start the year at a new school.
That was when she noticed a young girl fingering what looked like a vial of potion. Taking it as a sign Ana didn't even think before calling out to the girl. "Hey! Little girl can I breathe on your face?"
It was only after she'd spoken that Ana realised that she probably sounded like a weirdo and blushed in embarrassment while looking around to see who might have heard her strange request. "It's for potions," she explained as she walked closer to the young Hufflepuff.
Ohh so she had tested it out? Well poor kitty then, not liking sugar and all. That actually made the kitty real deprived in Abbi's eyes. "What did she do?" Maybe this girl didn't understand cats very much. But phew! At least she wasn't a sick kitty, that made things better didn't it. "So she's a healthy kitty? Why did you name her Lola?" Yes she was more and more curious.
Giggle. She didn't expect a reply like that, no really she didn't but she approved of it. One point for you, Miss Delilah. "Have you been before? I actually live in New York, I live in Boston." Too cool, hey? Wasn't she? "I'm only here, cause Donny is here." TOTALLY a valid reason. "Thank you!" She got a beamy smile.
This girl looked big. Did she have a cootilicious boyfriend? Hmm? Well Abbi was no shy one to ask. "Do you have a boyfriend?"Nothing wrong with that question, nope.
Nothing better than two cheerful strangers(?) greeting each other on a lovely autumn day, right? Right.
Tobias beamed at the enthusiastic reply and wandered over to the boy so he didn't have to shout or anything. As he leaned against the tree the other boy mentioned this being a marvellous place, and Toby nodded, looking around and catching his breath as he did so. It was marvellous. The Hufflepuff had been here a couple of times in the past, but was always going so fast that he never had time to appreciate it. Now he was glad he was.
"Oh, I'm grand!" Toby responded, pinching at the front of his t-shirt and bringing it up to wipe his brow, momentarily hiding his face. When he emerged, he grinned again. "How about you? Enjoying the peace of the grounds, I take it?" It didn't seem odd to him, exchanging pleasantries with someone he didn't really know, as it was the kind of thing Tobias just DID. Still, just to make sure this was who he thought it was... "You're Alec's friend, right? Alec Summers?"

Reason: coding ew
Bri jumped, she was slightly started when she heard some one yelled out. She opened her eyes, and glanced around. She saw an older girl who she recognized from classes but never was introduced. The younger girl scrambled up and smiled at the Slytherin. "Need to do Professor Culloden's homework?" Bri asked softly. " Then, sure! I' m Bri, by the way." Bri beamed

Caelen was wondering around the pathways, looking for someone to test her potion on. So far; no luck. People just generally did not like to have fire breathed on them, even it it tickled. Or was supposed to tickle. Actually, it hurt her more than it hurt the other person to be honest. Wait, did he say she had to ask before she dragoned them? Because if not, this opened up a whole new door. A possibly dangerous door, but a door was a door.
Walking around the pathways, she actually found a few places to hide things. Nothing major, she wasn't smuggling things into the school, but she wanted to hide things. Almost like a child in a secret hideout, but not because she was older. Well, in age anyway. No matter how many times her mom told her to act older or trained her to be a lady, Caelen still had a little bit of her brother in her.
And anyway, she was slightly bored. Right now she was carrying a small vial of potion in her right hand and looking suspiciously at people, wondering who would be the best person to ask. She didn't feel like walking away awkwardly again. That didn't seem fun.
The child tapped her index fingernail against the vial the potion was in and bit her lip in thought. Would she be able to sneak up on someone, breathe fire on them and then ask them to describe it? How weird was that exactly? How many morals would she have to concede to do such a thing? Answer: not many. Which was the actually surprising part. Maybe their was more Rockwell in her than she thought.

Potions homework consisted of one of two things: making up a new legend by scratch or... breathing fire on someone. And what was Alec planning on doing? Breathing fire. To the boy, it seemed like the simplest suggestion and one he could get done fairly quickly. The other one seemed long and complicated but... this one was easy, right?
He was wrong.
The problem with this... was... finding someone to go up to who'll be willing to help him. Should he have picked a friend? Maybe. Instead, he had decided to make things difficult for himself and wander around until he found the right person. This had eventually led him outside and wandering around along the pathways, the vial of potion clutched in his right hand. He had a journal too, of course, because noting down what the person felt was part of the assignment as well.
After a while, his grey-blue eyes landed on a younger girl and he stopped. Good target? She was holding a vial too so... maybe she needed someone to taste hers as well? Alec hoped so. It was pretty much the only thing he had going for him to secure a 'yes' from a completely stranger. Taking a deep breath, he headed over towards her. Cool. Act cool, Summers.
"I'll let you try out your potion on me if I can try out mine on you."
... Cool... was not in his list of personality traits.
Also. Hey there.

Ana blinked a bit in surprise at the young Hufflepuff's friendly welcome. Seemed she hadn't found anything unusual in Ana asking to breathe on her face... Probably a good thing, that.
His name was Culloden? She thought it was Cumudgeon. Maybe she should have payed better attention at the beginning of class. Good thing that she hadn't called the Professor that out loud though, otherwise she'd likely have lost points.
"Yep, if you let me breathe on you, I'll let you test your potion out on me," she added brightly, regretting the offer a bit as soon as she made it. She really hoped the little girl had brewed her potion correctly... "Nice to meet you Bri, I'm Ana."

Tag smiled at the boy when he walked over to him. He didn't need to, but it was probably easier for them to speak anyway, right? And the younger one, he looked younger, and had great hair seemed rather cheerful, so Tag wouldn't mind one bit. He didn't have to stand, either. "You can sit down, if you want. I've got no problem with that." Honest.
Grand. Tag liked the word this boy was using. So he just nodded some. "Definitely. The castle can get so loud and stuffy sometimes, you know? Its nice to get out and just hear the nature and the sights. I get tired of being cooped up in the castle all the time." And they had a beautiful backyard at Hogwarts. Why let it go to waste, right? "You seem to be training?" Tag asked the boy back, as he glanced at the lad's clothing. But then, at the mention of Alec, Tag slightly perked up. Well, it was slightly random the boy just said it, but Tag didn't mind. "Yeah, I am. Tag. Really good friend. Best friend, actually. Why? You must know him then, yeah?"
Delilah shrugged, making a small face. "Nothing much? She just spat it out." And refused to eat any more of it. She was a rather fussy eater when she wanted to be. She turned to look at Lola again, who was STILL lazying around on the grass. Seriously! "Yeah, she's a healthy and totally spoilt kitty." Yep, she was spoilt rotten but that was only because Delilah loved her so much. Even if she was a pain at times. Why did she name her Lola? The blonde smiled and shook her head. "I don't know.. I thought it was cute and it suited her?"
"Yeah, I go there almost every summer. For like ten days.." She'd probably be going next summer, too! Heh. She loved New York. "I'm from Miami, though." Ohhh? Abbi was from New York? "That's so cool! Mitchie's from New York, too.".... Donny? "Really? Are you two good friends?"
.......... BLINK BLINK. Where did that question even come from? Delilah just stared at the younger girl for a moment. "Uh.. No. I don't. Why do you ask?"
