Adelaide was taking a job through the paths. She needed to keep her form up for quidditch. She was going to have to make a habit of this over the summer. She didn't need to repeat the beginning of the term.

This nice weather was making it a lot easier. When she rounded the corner she had to stop suddenly because she almost ran into Lux. "Hey! Sorry about that."

She'd barely missed. Addi smiled taking a couple of deep breathes. "Love the dress."

WHOA!

Near collision! ABORT!

Stopping just in time to avoid going right smack into Addi, Lux almost toppled forward, faceplanting onto the ground. That would be totally embarrassing, so it was fortunate that she managed to avoid doing that by flapping her arms around like a bird or crazy woman.

"Th..thanks." Managing to catch her balance again, Lux smiled at her friend. Much better.

Adelaide threw out her arms on instinct to steady Lux. Once she was all set, she pulled her arms back. She was probably sweaty from running and didn't want to make her uncomfortable.

"I'm going to guess you're not used to walking in those?" Addi looked down at the heels. She never got used to them. Plus she was on the tall side so just stuck to her ballet flats.

Smiling slightly, Lux could feel her cheeks going slightly red. Yes, she really did not know how to walk in heels. But she did want to try to learn since she was almost 13. "I've never worn heels before and my mom sent these to me." So she really wanted to try to be able to walk in them without falling on either her face or her butt. So far it was not working out very well though it was a plus that she hadn't managed to completely lose her balance.

Adelaide smiled, noticing the bit of blush on Lux's face. "I still don't wear heels. I could never get used to walking in them." She didn't know if telling her that was a good or bad thing. "I just stick to really cute ballet flats." Which there were just as many of those as heels. Even though she had a pair of heeled boots she wished she could walk properly in.

Oooh, so Addi wasn't used to heels either! That made Lux feel a little better, because if someone at 16 didn't wear heels, it meant that it was okay that she didn't know how to properly at almost 13. "Oooh, those sound really pretty," she commented with a giggle as she started another attempt at walking in her heels.

Wobble wobble wobble.

Sighing, Lux moved her hands out to the side again to help with her balance. "I really feel like a bird when I do this. I could flap my arms and fly away." The only difference between her and a bird was that birds didn't wear heels.

"You should see my closet back home. Lots and lots of shoes." Adelaide had to put an undetectable extension charm on her trunk just to bring a portion of them to school.

She bit her lip so she wouldn't giggle at Lux and her wobbliness. Is that what she looked like when she attempted to walk in heels?

Now Adelaide couldn't help but laugh. "It does kind of look like that." If only that was actually the truth. "You know, if you want to get good at walking in those you might want to try more even ground." It would be a lot easier than out here.

Oooh, shoes! "Shoes are nice, but I don't have a lot of pretty ones yet. My sister has lots though!" Willa loved shoes, and she wondered if Addi had as many as her sister did. Maybe they could go shoe shopping one day, because Addi was totally awesome.

hehe. Smiling, she flapped her wings and started making bird sounds because she was totally cool like that. "Oh, yes. Maybe I'm better off doing it in my Common Room or something." Addi was so smart suggesting that, because the pathway really was not the smoothest place for her to be doing this.

Addi nodded. "I love shoes and dresses and well just clothes shopping in general." The only good thing that came out of her family being and politics and having money.

Adelaide just laughed. Gosh she loved little Lux. Hopefully she didn't grow up too fast on her. "Yeah. Lots of things you could trip on out here." Which would not be good. Then she would possibly get hurt.

Oooh, yes. Shopping! "We should go shopping together!" That would be fun, and she couldn't do all of her shopping with Lucas, because she needed to go to Quiddith matches with him too, and she also knew that there was only so much shopping you could submit a boy to even if he was your best friend. "When I have loads of pretty clothes and shoes, I want to do a fashion show with my friends Cinnamon and Emmy!" They had already been talking about it. There were plans made! Emmy just didn't know about it yet.

It was good that she had made Addi laugh. She liked doing that. "Ooh, very true. I should take these off." The only thing was she did not want to get her new dress dirty Hmm...

At a loss, she looked around trying to figure out the best way she could go about taking her shoes off so she could change back into the shoes that she usually wore.

The redhead with the now messy braid plopped her bag into the dirt. She got a little too excited back there, didn't she? Whatever. That's what dematuration was all about. And it was all about a word that Caelen just made up off the top of her head, but that wasn't important. She wanted to figure out her birthday present. Especially if it was something her idiot brother bought for her.

Her brother didn't know her AT ALL. Well he knew that she was his little sister and he knew when she was upset, but other than that, he was clueless. The past four years she had just gotten a science set or a charmed plant for her birthday, no matter how many hints the girl with the braid dropped. She even copied pictures from one year and tried to hang them up in his room. Yeah, all she got where balls of paper to the face. And her mom just laughed at their game. Not that the kid minded, they didn't hurt or anything.

But this year his mom said that the present was going to be awesome. She promised that he was going to get a good one. And she ALWAYS kept her promises about birthday presents. Even when Caelen asked for something stupid. Birthday's were special to their family. It was like their day. And she didn't get to be home on her day. Which meant that she really wished that her brother got something good for her.

Taking out the note that she remembered from that time period, The girl with the braid read over a bit of it to find any clues. Nothing. He was sneakier than a fox. Or that squirrel Rockwell charmed to follow her when she was bored and he wanted her out of his hair. It was fun for a while, but then it started climbing trees and getting away from her! She climbed after and long story short, she spent a couple of months in a leg cast.

Anyway, she would have to try a little harder.
