With the Band; Second Song { Somebody to Love } SPOILER!!: friends and stuff SPOILER!!: THE BAND Going off of Nigel's lead, Ascanius started to keep tempo with his bass player and jammed a little in the back. Don't mind the drummer, yeah? Throwing his head into each of his hits, Ascanius really started to sit back into the beat of the song. It had a nice little jive to it and when West got to his guitar solo toward the end of the song, Ascanius riffed a little on his cymbals to help him out. Y'know, before Vesper got all RIDICULOUS with her voice. Which she had always done in rehearsals, but never to the extent she was leaving out on the stage right now. O___o Yeah, she could sing. Jeez, they were killin' it. He was almost sorry when the first song ended, but then he remembered that they got to do a whole set of music. After all, they were playing for a while. Tons and tons of music to be had. And Ascanius was bursting with excitement and adrenaline. NOTHING was like playing live. Actually nothing. It was this insane rush. So he had to actually put his drumsticks down while West announced their next song SOMEBODY TO LOVE BY QUEEN. Mostly because Queen was stuff that the audience could scream along to...as well as some solo stuff for all of them. Which musicians loved to do. And with that, Vesper started them off strong. Voice and keys. OOC. I've got permission for band-moding |

It was obviously difficult not to notice the band, and Tobias found his attention wandering over to them as he picked crumbs from his muffin and ate it steadily. He knew everyone up on stage, by name and by Quidditch stats. It wasn't even a conscious thing anymore; Quidditch was just the main thing he thought about, after all. After a few moments of watching and listening and bopping his head gently, Tobias turned his attention back to Sophie. He hadn't missed how frail she looked, and figured it was from the ageing thing that so many people were inexplicably dealing with. Still, he didn't actually mention it out loud, figuring it could be bad form. "Did I keep you waiting long?" Toby asked instead, noticing a few crumbs that had collected in the fold of his shirt sleeve and gently brushing them away. He looked up and smiled again. "What's there to do here?" Y'know. For adventuring reasons. |

Wait. "We can blame it on the pastries," Justine said, with a small smirk, her bright eyes twinkling with amusement, she picked up one of the delicious and colorful macaroons and addressed it with a very stern look. "You sir, are zee reason for our little mis'ap, we do not appreciate your rudeness, nor your conduct," She said, pointing an accusatory finger at the offending macaroon. Though she tried to keep the laughter from her voice, the situation was just too silly and she had to let out a small chuckle. "Oh no, please do not apologize, I was the one after all, who practically shouted about them," the young woman jokingly reminded Andrew, making light of herself. Justine was not at all offended by the way the boy ate his food, what did it matter to her anyway? He could have transfigured his nose into a trunk and used it to feed himself and Justine wouldn't have blinked an eye. Justine blushed at Andrew's words, he loved how she said oui, instead of yes? Actually loved it? Well, he certainly was very sweet, and hearing it made her feel a smidgen more confident about her accent then she had been. "Merci, I mean, zank you, I actually 'ave been trying to stop saying it, I'm trying to accumulate more to 'Ogwarts, and I thought it might 'ell to speak more english, and less French," the young girl said, tucking back a strand that had loosened itself from her previously immaculate up-do. She was so bad a hair, and make-up, and anything feminine, if it weren't for her magical prowess she wouldn't even look normal through out a regular day, let along look presentable enough for a ball. "I'm sure you were, it was uh.... Uh, 'ow you say, at the top of your tongue?" Justine teasingly said, pushing the boy playfully as she spoke. Justine was rather surprised at how well she and this boy were getting on, it wasn't that Justine wasn't friendly or anything like that, it had just been a long time since she had really made a new friend (Aside from Louis Bolton). Justine listened with interest as the Ravenclaw explained how reading was his hobby and that his family had a huge library, and how he had taken a special interest in the linguistic section. So he, like her, read for pleasure more then anything else, and now she was practically drooling at the thought of a massive private library. " 'Ow wonderful, I always wanted to 'ave a beautiful library, unfortunately we never 'ad the room for one," Justine said, thinking dreamily of all those incredible books. "Please, go on, so you have a section on linguistics?" Justine added, urging the young man to finish his story, she was really quite curls as to how he had learned about the different languages and dialects of her country of origin. |

She smiled up at him, "Kace... Really, thank you so much for being here for me... You have no idea how much it means to me to know you don't think like everyone else." Annaleecia nodded, "The first one to make me feel like I wasn't such a weirdo or an outcast." |
SPOILER!!: Terry Ana ate the Pizza as she listened to West talk about who the band was and what type of music they were going to play. She was more focussed on her Pizza though until West announced what the first song would be. She loved that song. Absolutely adored it. "The food will wait, and we should definitely support your friends," Ana agreed, turning her full attention back to her boyfriend. Yeah, she liked thinking/saying that word in relation to Terry. So sue her. Finishing up the crust of her Pizza Ana grabbed a napkin to wipe her hands off before grabbing Terry's hand. "I'd love to dance," Ana responded as she led Terry to the dance floor. Ana was in her element as she danced to the song, singing along all the while. What made it even more enjoyable was that the band was good. The way they were harmonising was amazing and both West and whoever the girl on stage was were great singers. She was so enjoying dancing and singing along that she almost didn't notice that the song was ending until the music stopped and the next song was announced. Somebody to Love. Another great song to dance to. She wondered if Terry would mind leaving the food for just a bit longer... |

...oh, did she not know...? Ha. Heh. This made everything suddenly even funnier to her. Still not laughing though, just grinning. "Ascanius. He's my boyfriend." So much more than just a Valentine, but that was technically the word for it for today. Quote:

Text Cut: the baaand <3 And it was starting! Really good too, not that she expected anything less. Now was her cue to hurry over and pile a few slices of pizza onto a plate and then come back to the front. 'Cause yeah, she was planning on watching and dancing at the front so she could properly see them and everything. So that was what she did, moving quickly back over to the food table with the pizza on it, grabbing a plate, and then picking up and dropping three slices onto it. She was saving room for more food later, plus it would be easier to eat and dance a little if she only got a little at a time. She nommed on one piece as she made her way back to the front of the crowd, swaying a little in time with the beat of the songs. |
Mentions of Adi and Sophie SPOILER!!: Hope and Leah His view on Valentine's Day? Now that was and interesting question. Ben would have thought his lack of red in his outfit was a certain sigh he wasn't exactly a fan. But maybe it wasn't as obvious as he had originally thought. "Definitely NOT the best thing on the planet," he answered, trying to think of his true feelings. It was kind of up in the air at the moment. "But I'm not sure what I really feel about it." There was Adi...and Sophie. Over THERE. The Gryffindor turned away again not wanting to give them his attention, at least not at the moment. They were there on their own, it wasn't as if it was his business. No sir...not his. His friend was part of the Valentine-loving, coming as a couple group, NOT the single and on-their own group. Oh, Leah was speaking up. Benny listened quietly as she spoke with Hope, only speaking up when she questioned them having met before. "Yeah...a rather clumsy incident at the ice cream parlor." But then clumsy was him. It was a wonder he didn't spend a lot of time in the Hospital wing, especially with the changes. His movements limited by the aches and pains of looking and feeling like he was ancient. As for her own views on the holiday, the Gryffindor had to admit there were some positives. NOT hanging with friends though. OWWWW loud noise. The band was apparently ready to start. Ben couldn't help but be thankful that they weren't TOO close the stage but it certainly was gonna take some effort to deal with the loud music. He might just need to wander off if he needed a break from it. |
Text Cut: Brynn At Brynny’s compliment, Fern let out a gleeful squeal, [b]“I KNOW! And look Brynny, look! You haven’t even seen the best part! Look-,” She wiggled her seat back and held up one of her feet for the younger girl to see, then twisted her ankle back and forth so the glitter coated heal would catch the light, “how SpARKLY! It is!!” After several seconds of admiring her shoe, she turned back to her friend, eyes wide and serious, “For the next ball, I can help you pick out your outfit, so you’ll look nice too.” But, Fern eyed the first year up and down once more, maybe Brynny needed more help than that. An intervention. “My friend Angelina, she works at Madame Malkin’s, she’ll know exactly what your signature color is! She helped me find mine!” Fern matched the weird look Brynny gave her with one of her own. What did Brynny mean, ‘Ask me what?’? And why was she huffing at Fern? And – ”Of course I read it! Why wouldn’t I? If it’s happening at Hogwarts, I’m in the know! Obvy!!” Fern crossed her arms and stuck out her chin in exaggerated offense. She hadn’t seen any of the Aparecium articles since she returned Benzi Rider’s parchment, but Brynny didn’t need to know that. Fern was supposed to be the older, wiser friend. ”Kace isn’t –,” But Fern stopped mid-defense when she followed the Ravenclaw’s extended index finger, to see blue-eyed Kace dancing with Annaleecia Roman. The 12-year-old’s jaw dropped in shock, but her face quickly turned into a look of disgust, “He’s not supposed -,” When Fern had been trying to get him to break things off with Marigold, she hadn’t meant for him to date another Hufflepuff – she had meant Brynny! BRYNNY!! “But what about the – and he – I thought – THAT JERK! I HATE him!” And she would have marched over to Kace and told him how much she hated him right then and there if it wasn’t for Brynny asking about the napkin and turning the conversation back to what was really important. Fern leaned in, because this news was important, “It’s for Dante Dark! I owled him about the ball, and he’s-,” she paused, glancing quickly at the students who had started performing and the crowd dancing in front of the stage, eyebrows pulling together, then shook her head, “He’s coming. He’s coming because I owled him weeks ago, and you know how we’re true loves.” |
In The Band; Third Song {I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing} Nigel was honestly surprised by the sass Vesper was giving him. Nigel would be laughing if not for the fact he would be going on stage right now and total did not get the fact she was talking to him again. It was hilarious. Okay time to focus. Nigel was having fun strumming his fingers along to this song. It was fully of energy and just awesome. Thank Merlin, for practice though. Without that he would have not know who Fleetwood Mac was. What surprised him the most was the amazing singing voice the Vesper had. West was being awesome as always and bam Vesper starts singing along. Guess she really likes Fleetwood Mac. Nigel feel into a groove listening to Ascanius play the drums and the vocals. It shocked him once the song was over. That went pretty fast. It was pretty energizing playing live for the first time. No onto more songs to play and it came as no surprise to him that Queen would be next. Now this song he could relax for basically the first thirty seconds. Definitely a change of pace and a song everyone can sing along to because who doesn't know Queen. There was nothing else to do but watch the crowd and silently sing along. You always have to keep the rhythm of the song going on, no matter what. He had just got the breather he need after the last song had ended. You know with West addressed the crowd and all that jazz. But now the next song was being announced. I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing by Aerosmith. Not bad. It was a great song to sing along to and was kind of fitting for valentine's day. OOC: I've permission for band-moding. |
Text Cut: Tobes Oh, good. He seemed pleased with the cupcake, and Sophie returned an equally elated expression. "Welcome." That's what besties were for, weren't they? While Tobes helped himself to his cupcake, she peeled the wrapper away from hers and worked on hers, too, and followed his gaze up to the stage. Vesper was a surprisingly good singer, Sophie thought. And she caught Ascanius' smile and returned it to him - he looked like a pro up there, of course, but that boy had dynamite rhythm in his core, she was certain of it. It must've just coursed through his veins. None of it was really dancing music, though, was it? Not the kind of dancing she wanted to see from Tobes. He had moves to show her from that seminar class thing, yeah? Or maybe not, if all the songs were going to be so up-beat and loud. Which seemed fitting for this particular band so far, so she wasn't getting her hopes up. "No," she responded simply, turning to smile a cupcake-y grin at him. "Uuuuuum, well - there's the dancing, and I passed a weird... boat-tunnel thing? The Tunnel of Love, it was called, so I guess that's like a ride for couples and stuff to get away from everyone? I saw some games 'n' stuff - and there's a photo booth over there, too," she told him, nodding her head over toward the place in question. "We'll definitely have to do that one. We worked too hard to look good tonight to pass up getting our hotness documented." Hehehehe. Her cupcake finished, she set the wrapper on her empty plate. She glanced up at the stage as a slower sort of song began - Tobes could probably show her his moves with that kind of thing, but it was probably a stretch. "Y'wanna go do something, then? Or d'you see anyone you wanna go talk to?" He could decide. It was nice to sit down and rest for a little bit, but now she wanted to do something. ANYTHING. Heck, she'd even go for that silly boat ride if Tobes wanted to. She just wanted to spend the time with him. |
Still no sign of Mitchell. This was fine. Marigold was fine with this, she was dancing along to the music and even singing a little as well. What she WASN'T fine was her being all alone. She didn't want to crash anyone's conversations, but she saw a couple people she figured would be fine with talking to her. Right? Right. So when the next song started - one of her favorites, by the way - she went over to talk to Toby. "Sup," she said to him, grinning. HAI TOBY HAI. And his lady-friend too. Hi you. And wait nobody else she knew. Welp. |
Quote:
Apparently a bonsai tree made up for that though. Cool. He loosened his tie because... well... loose ties just looked better and checked his sleeves again. Yup. There were half rolled up. Just like his sister had instructed him. Perfect. Now all he needed was his... Goldilocks. ... was this a date? He wasn't sure. Probably not. She did say that she wanted to come to check out the person whose name was not Southeast. He didn't have too long to think about it though before he found the girl he was looking for. "Hey. So... what exactly is fangirling and do I need to be at least three feet away from you at all times?" |
Quote:
Then he heard her talking over the music and he smiled and nodded. "Your welcome..anytime!" he said. "Plus i am a weirdo and outcast as well. We have that in common." he winked and then continued to dance crazily. He even did the funny dance like the chicken dance. |
Anyone Bart heard all the loud noise and he followed it to see what was going on. Shuffling slower than he would like into the stage area he looked up. Who were these people playing and why was it so loud? He looked around so many people were there, but he didn't really see anyone he knew or did he. Squinting around things were blurry, this was getting more and more ridiculous. Now the band was playing something else. Bart listened not really knowing the song, but deciding it wasn't too bad. So he started bobbing his head. Then he started shuffling his slippered feet not really moving with the beat, but bouncing in his own dancing way. Then he saw the couple people.. ugh this was what he was trying to avoid. He thought it was such a waste, but oh wait! Where was his date. He looked around.. Oops he had dropped her. Shuffling over towards the door he picked up his broom again. No need to loose his date now is there. |
SPOILER!!: Kace Annaleecia gave a small laugh and smiled, "Takes a lot of practice, maybe I could teach you sometime." She gently squeezed his hands fighting back the blush that was fighting to come back again. She didn't want to ruin the night... Much as she liked him, she knew he didn't feel the same way, and while it saddened her, she shouldn't let it dampen the night. She laughed at his dancing but did join him in the chicken dance, smiling as she did, "I have a hard time believing anyone finds you weird!" Anna called over the music and smiled. Not caring if she looked dorky or strange, she was having fun, and it was with Kace, so she was just happy. |
Quote:
West got a grin sent in his direction, but not much else because she needed snacks before her best started making her move. Quote:
But he did look quite nice today, even if he hadn't dressed up at all, so she gave him a wink too. A good luck wink. Quote:
Which she was rather jealous of, but they sounded great. Since Dora hadn't pounced on her and started forcing her to dance yet, she just stood where she had been by the food table and swayed a little to the music. Pity that Alice had given up on grabbing a bite, though, because being preoccupied with a meal would have distracted her from Vesper's look. Look? Why was she....? "Why is she glaring me?" she whispered to Dora, not backing down from Vesper's gaze. It seemed like a glare. Was it? Why would it be? |
Quote:
"Psshh my parents knew i was weird since day one." he joked with her and still did the chicken dance in the middle of the dance floor. He was just comfortable in his own skin, what was wrong with that? "Now..." he asked breathlessly. "Which dance should i try next?" he asked her with a smile. "Or would you rather slow dance since this song is kind of the right song to do it too." he grinned and held out his hand. It was AeroSmith so he approved. |
Quote:
"Hey," she said as a greeting once he came close enough for him to hear her. She grinned at him So. The concert. She wasn't sure if her actually would enjoy the music, but she sure would. Turning her attention back to the stage, she remembered to point out West. ASDFGHJKL. "LOOK THAAAAAT ONE'S WEST. The attractive one." Well really they were ALL attractive. Even the Casper-girl. ESPECIALLY the Casper-girl. She sighed up at West. Hello, obsession. AND GIGGLING ENSUED WITH HIS COMMENT. "Fangirling is like, being a groupie with extreme flailing. So you might want to stay away to not get hit by any flailing limbs." |
Awar settled herself into a chair, still a little bit shaky from the embarrassing kissing booth fiasco, and kicked back to watch the crowd and the band playing. The Dead Kneazles. Nice. They were playing rather fantastic songs. So far, they were all songs she and Manolo heard their father play when they were young. She closed her eyes and swayed to the music, "...and just stay here in this moment for the rest of timeee..." |
Escorting Medea to the best of his abilities to the dance floor, the astronomer was determined despite the shape that his body was in to give his dark haired date a proper dance. Even if it meant more standing in the middle of the dance floor and wiggling slightly. Turning his good ear towards the stage, he could just barely hear the current tune being played and rocked his head back and forth to the rhythm. Stellar choice kids. He wondered if they took requests, because he had a song that he wouldn't mind using as an accompaniment to an announcement he had. "May I have this dance?" he asked with a wrinkly smile. |
Quote:
They were splendidly good. Looked fantastic up on the stage together too. Their name though... Oh, the moment of truth. They'd be fine. Wonderfully fine. "Alvays." |
Need You Now by Lady Antebellum Vesper's voice was amazing. West had heard her sing a million times and it just never got old, and he never stopped getting pleasure from it, and feeling pretty lucky that he could sing with her, and play his guitar alongside her killer keyboard skills. And from what he could see, people were getting into it, so that was good. It just made him wanna do even better. All the practice was definitely paying off though. He smiled at that little Marigold kid, since she was out there and apparently enjoying herself, and then picked out his friends, grinning at each of them in turn. AND HELLS YEAH YO GO THEO. Heh. Okay so his best mate wasn't all hung up on Ella anymore... not too much anyways, but still. Kudos. Dancing. Making memories. Good stuff. Mental fist bumps would happen but West had to focus, and in truth was being carried off with the music. And soon enough they were onto the next song. And then the next, a little slower since well they had to do some slow jams for dance reasons and all. West was enjoying himself, especially riffing off Ascanius and Nigel, and the three of them providing a musical canvas for Vesper to paint with that voice of hers. Once they finished caning Aerosmith, West ran his fingers through his hair and spoke into the microphone again. "Lets keep it slow, I wanna see more of you dancing out there. This next song is by a band called Lady Antebellum, Need You Now. On account of we need all of you." Cheeeeeeesy grin. Things would pick up a little more on the next tune but for now... Ves began playing the opening notes, and the boys all joined in accordingly. Duet time! He licked his thumb before strumming his first note on his guitar. Yeah, he was gonna make it SING in this song. ooc: I have band!moding permission |
West pre-set, Austin, and *sighs* Quote:
First he had basically ignored the fact there were other people there, some of whom she had been talking to, and now he seemed thrown by her being the slightest bit annoyed at how he hadn’t even seemed to have realized it. All she had tried to do was point out that maybe he shouldn’t complain about how people act around him when maybe he was, even unconsciously, giving them reason to. Therefore, even though she would have much rather enjoyed the songs Vesper and West were singing, she’d wrapped a hand around Austin’s wrist and pulled him aside as his argument about things being uncalled for had devolved into something entirely unexpected. “Okay, breathe,” she said, loud enough that he’d hear but using the music to hopefully keep anyone else from listening in. If he was reacting this badly to her simple point about ignoring people, she didn’t want to know what would happen if her asking for an explanation was heard. “I just was kind of trying to say that you can’t expect people to understand you if you act like you’re a little kid. They aren’t just going to know things. And you didn’t have to talk to West,” she said, keeping her hand wrapped around his wrist only to hopefully keep him from running away and hiding. At least, she wanted to explain before she let him go. “You just had to acknowledge him, or anyone for that matter. A nod, a smile. Maybe a hi. I wasn’t asking you to give people your life story.” She knew he wasn’t antisocial. Of course, she hadn’t known about the stutter, but hopefully that would go away if she got him to calm down. “Dance with me?” It might have been a last-ditch effort, but hopefully it would relax him. |
Quote:
Before there was the chance to even consider how to arrange his words, he felt her pulling him away from the stage; potentially so that he wasn’t about to be a distraction to the band or anyone else for that matter. But there almost seemed like there was another reason for why she had her hand on his wrist altogether, one that probably could have been figured out later. As she had started talking, he only stayed quiet. How appropriate. “But I also didn’t have to interrupt your conversations since that makes me look bad, even if I’m not a bad guy; I know manners. I just… I don’t know.” he managed to reply, his words steadily back to normal instead of the stutter returning which would have only proven that he was feeling really bad about things. “I wouldn’t give people I didn’t know my life story anyway, that’s not a conversational subject after all.” The point of the matter was that she was right, even if he knew that just trying to seem friendly sometimes really was the biggest challenge of all. Thinking back to earlier when he was stuttering, he knew that giving Lily the explanation as to what causes that to happen definitely was a smart idea but it wasn’t going to happen here, it could wait. Especially when she asked another question which only brought a smile to his face. “But of course. I owe you a dance anyway from those lessons.” he replied then slid his arms around her waist. |
Quote:
Anna shook her head and gave another laugh, "I wish I could say the same." She shrugged, her parents had thought she'd be a normal child, and for the most part she was their normal perfect daughter... but then the magic had to show up and made them see her as enough of a freak to send her back to Russia and keep her in an orphanage for the rest of her days... She mentally shook her head. Tonight was a fun night, she would not start moping about her parents now of all times. After all, she was here with Kace... nothing should make her sad when he was around. ... Then he asked about a slow dance and she felt the butterflies starting up again, but she gave a slight nod to his question, her mind going slightly blank at saying yes. She hated when her nerves got her like this, she kinda froze up. Annaleecia looked at him and tried to just make herself calm down but it wasn't working out to well... The idea of him holding her did make her happy, but it terrified her at the same time. Was it the right time? On top of that what if she did something stupid? Especially with knowing that he didn't like her back... She could slip up and do something idiotic and ruin their friendship. |
