The Main Stage and Seating area takes up the whole front of the Great Hall. There are round tables which seat eight or so people scattered everywhere, covered in white tablecloths, and decorated with red roses and place settings. Lit red candles float near the ceiling, casting a warm glow on the diners. To either side of the Great Hall are long trestle tables laden with all sorts of valentines food... only the table on the left features Valentines themed food like pizza with heart-shaped pepperoni, heart-shaped sushi, and pink lemonade, while the table on the right has a more anti-love theme with candy hearts that state slogans like 'cupid stay away', 'it's not me, it's you' and 'leave me alone', and cupcakes with hearts on them that would be cute if it wasn't for the little licorice dagger piercing each heart right through the centre.
Even closer to the front of the Great Hall is a large stage, right where the staff dais usually is. In front of the stage is a sizable dance floor, ready for anyone who wants to get up and show off the skills they learned with Flamsteed. As for the music, that is provided by The Dead Kneazles, a student band consisting of Vesper Bayliss, Nigel Barrington, West Odessa, and Ascanius Stark. They will be performing danceworthy tunes in 20-30 minute sets, and when they aren't up there rocking out for your listening and grooving pleasure, a sound system will play a selection of classic Muggle and Wizarding love and anti-love themed hits.
So come and eat, or dance, or just sit and chatter. Love is in the air!
Or is it?
ooc: Feel free to make up what kind of love or anti-love themed food or drinks your character finds on the two tables! While you may not RP for the band itself, you are more than welcome and encouraged to RP dancing to different songs (and saying what songs are playing on the sound system when the band isn't around), or just listening and watching as your character pleases!

There. That was a GOOD deal. Take it or leave it.
Three did the trick.
Even if she would have Alice on her feet for all of them, and even if it was minimal movement. Her best wasn't that heavy anyways. Dora smiled properly, and moved a little more to the music. "Three." It was a deal.

Plus it didn’t hurt that Lily had her head on his shoulder, honestly that was the reason that he wanted to dance with her back in the lesson even if he hadn’t been allowed to, it would have gone a lot better but that didn’t exactly matter anymore. Those rules had not longer been in place which definitely was a good thing since he didn’t want to deal with that all again, it pretty much had been pointless. As soon as she started talking, he focused his attention back on her since no one was about to be proven right here; he wasn’t a rude guy. “I think that might help. Maybe it’ll help me get over the nervousness I get with talking to random people.” he replied, his voice almost at a whisper which really was enough for his girlfriend to be able to hear.
It seemed as though that Lily had been not exactly thought twice about leading him over to the food table which really wasn’t a problem since he could have used a snack before going back to dancing later on, and only began to browse at what he could have had to eat, then picked up a couple of chocolates since having sugar was never a bad idea. Plus it kept the potential for stuttering to return very low, which really was a good thing. Before he had gotten the opportunity to eat one of the chocolates, the questions continued though at least this had been the chance to explain things. Even if it probably could have waited until they were alone since he didn’t want to deal with anyone overhearing by accident. “Okay I can explain this in detail later on since I don’t want to make you worried or anything, but sometimes when the idea of me making people upset gets too much, the stuttering comes out and I try to not let it come out. It also can happen when I’m having conversations with people I haven’t met before as well.” he managed to explain, keeping his voice low so that Lily really was the only one to be able to get his explanation.
The berries really weren’t enough, but Lily hadn’t felt like eating most of what else was there. At least, she hadn’t felt like a heart-shaped sandwich, or any of the cookies that were there. She’d eyed the chocolate, but chosen the berries instead. Maybe it was that they were missing cream, but she’d make do. Either that or she’d steal one of Austin’s chocolates while they were sitting there talking. Actually, she’d probably ask first, but for now, figuring out what exactly had happened earlier was more important. Munching on berries was easier when she had to actually discuss things. Plus, it was easier to make sure he didn’t think she was ignoring him, even if she was also half-listening to the music still. It was hard not to, since the band really was doing an amazing job. Just not amazing enough for her to want to interrupt the talking in order to dance some more. Dancing could happen after they finished talking, as long as the event was still going on. “Maybe,” she agreed. “I mean, I introduced you to Astrid and that seemed to go okay.” It was just the situation with West that had gone horribly wrong, but then she wasn’t sure she was really to blame there. Since it really shouldn’t have been up to her to make sure he got along with his dorm mates.
At least the stuttering hadn’t come back, which she was going to assume meant he didn’t feel threatened anymore. Honestly, she’d rather he not have felt threatened anyway, and she wasn’t sure why he would have. Plus, his answer to her simple question had only confused her more. Of course, there had been every chance he wouldn’t have answered it at all, but she still didn’t quite understand when he did. She’d popped another berry into her mouth as she tried to make sense of it all, though. It still didn’t make sense after the stalling. “Um, how do you expect me to not worry if I have to wait for an answer?,” she asked quietly, blinking a little. That was the part that didn’t make sense. The rest of it had just made her feel guilty. “So I made you stutter.” He hadn’t technically been talking to West, so that meant it had been her. It had been her, and her irritation at feeling like he’d ignored the fact she’d been talking to West when he had walked up to her. That wasn’t really something she’d ever wanted to feel, not after all the guilt she’d dealt with at the end of last term and then over the summer, but there it was.

Theo pushed his way to the front of the crowd quickly, since he knew that the band wouldn't be on their break for long. He reached the stage but they were already setting up to go again. Daaaaarn... He waved at West, then started bopping up and down super awkwardly when they started playing. Dancing on your own SUCKED, but it sucked even more right now because Theo actually LOVED the song that was playing. He really wanted to enjoy it.
Scratch this.
The Slytherin made a quick escape from center stage and headed for the seats. He plopped himself onto a chair and cast a look round at everyone who was dancing. They looked like they were having fun, that was nice, pfffffft. People and their happiness. Yeah, he'd sit here chewing his gum instead of heading back for that lame-o kissing booth.
At least until this awesome song had finished.

Alex laughed when Bay said they were just really old. "You are so right. I've got a little popping and cracking going on myself. I think we should call this the Rice Krispies dance.......just as long as there's no snapping."
Alex laughed even harder when she thought about how ridiculous they must have looked doing their creaky old person dancing. Oh oh, laughing....not....good. All the dancing and laughing left Alex a little winded, but she ignored it. She was going to party until they turned off the lights, because she could. Well she hoped she could.......

Days of Potter 2023:___________________________ Which Bertie Botts Flavour Are You? You are Salt!
"Oui! We were taken in by zeir colorful appearance and deliciousness!" Justine said in mock horror, her dark hand lifted to her forehead in a feigned act of woe, though her giggles gave her amusement away. When Andrew pointed out a random macaroon and dubbed it the ringleader, Justine could not hold back her laughter, and with a snort of mirth, she succumbed to her amusement, laughing so hard that she could only cling to her sides. "Nooo," She said, unable to say anything else as the peals of laughter erupted from her pretty lips. "Oui, oui 'e must be 'anged! Jail is too good for zee likes of 'im," Justine said, after her laughter had died away. Goodness but this boy was funny, Justine couldn't really remember the last time she had really laughed. Probably before her parents estrange, and resulting divorce.
As uncomfortable as Justine suddenly felt, she tried not to show it to the young man, if he knew, if he saw, well, it would certainly not be a good thing, she was really warming up to him, and hoped that they would turn into good friend I think you like him a little more than that. Said that weird little voice in Justine's head, to which she paid no mind because really, her little voice did not know what it was talking about. "Bordeaux? You were born zhere?" Justine asked, her mild surprise becoming stronger as the boy mentioned something about being from the English side of his family. "Wat do you mean 'zee English side?" Justine asked, frowning with curiosity. Andrew certainly had many more layers to him than Justine had thought.
Oh no, he had really believed her to be offended, Justine had to quickly fix that. "Non, non, I am joking with you," Justine said, reassuringly touching the boys arm, trying to show him that he had not hurt her feelings. She smiled brightly at the brunette. "I prefer zat you tell me when I 'ave made a mistake," Justine said.
"Goodness, I feel so unaccomplished now, I zought I was special for speaking two, are all your family members so talented?" Justine laughed, really quite dazzled by his parents abilities, she would certainly love to meet such extraordinary people one day. And now he was blushing, and that was far too adorable, really, too adorable, she thought she ought to make him blush more often, that was how adorable.
Wait, had she heard that right? Her beautiful? He thought she was beautiful? Her brain suddenly seemed to be centered on that one word, she couldn't possibly think of anything else but the fact that a very charming English boy had called her beautiful without even a small warning. She was really blushing now, Justine wouldn't have been surprised to find that her hair had turned as red as she was sure her face was. Justine remembered fairly quickly that she was supposed to be speaking. ""You're welcome, I meant it.... " She said, her voice trailing slightly as she tried to think of whether she would reply to the "beautiful," comment or not.
"I'm not really zat beautiful, but, zank you," Justine modestly said, deciding not to ignore it. Justine was proud about a lot of things, but her looks were not one of them, she didn't think herself ugly or anything like that, she just simply didn't think of them at all.
"Very good Andrew," Justine said, nodding with approval at the young boy's understanding, she had almost expected him to be able to understand her, and was quite pleased. "Eh bien, vows avez certainement réussi." Justine added, with a small smile, He certainly had impressed her, something not many people wee capable of, and especially not in such a short amount of time.
Andrew's laughter intensified as it really hit him how ridiculously silly they were being. The room was full of people, and there they were accusing pastry of crimes, and even sentencing one to execution. "In fact!" He began after he had finally managed to overcome his giggles, and reached for the ringleader. "I think hanging is too good for him too! His sentence will be carried out here and now!" He said before muching down on the macaroon with what could probably be described as 'ferocious vengeance'. "Retribution!" He chuckled.
Andrew could see the sudden appearance of discomfort in Justine's face, but he could also see the attempt at ignoring it. In her expression, he sensed an internal conflict that he of course couldn't possibly know anything about. She made it sound like it wasn't there, and despite his curiosity and wish to calm her fears, he thought it best to take her word for it.
"Yes, Bordeaux. My parents were visiting family in France." He confirmed at her question, taking a breath and scratching the back of his head when she asked about the 'English side of the family'. His body language practically oozed the phrase 'It's a long story'. "The LaCroix family. Originally French, but we split up into two different lineages, if you will. One side remained in France, and the other moved across the channel." He explained, hoping he had conveyed accurately enough the complicated situation concerning his family. "We're still very close.
Andrew's face lit up once more when he realized he hadn't really hurt Justine's feelings. He smiled at her and nodded. "Well, I promise I'll tell you then!" He said quickly. "But I doubt I'll need to very often."
"No, you really are accomplished, it's just my parents that are ridiculous over-achievers and have to overdo literally everything." Andrew laughed at Justine's question. He tried to focus on how much his parents always made a big deal out of everything in an attempt to get the redness out of his face. He hadn't expected her compliment, and it had made him blush, but what had made him blush even more was the fact that he replied by telling her he thought she was beautiful. What kind of response is that? Andrew felt like such an idiot sometimes. "Well, I think you are." He said, only digging himself a deeper grave.
"Merci. J'essaie." He smiled with what little confidence he had in his french. His parnets being such overachievers, it was difficult sometimes to live up to their expectations. French had never been easy for him, but he did his best, and it was nice to see someone who accepted it as if it weren't full of flaws and mistakes.

Attending the party wouldn't count if she didn't drop by the seating area and hear the band play. No it surely wouldn't. Also, food. She was really hungry by now. Although her dress only allowed little space for her stomach to get full. But that was enough. It wasn't like she wanted to gulp down everything. Psht. Nope.
Glad her feet weren't yet hurting, she padded towards where the main stage was and she was able to hear the music from a good distance. Her eyes lit up at the sight of friends up there being all wonderful and professional. She hoped she could have been here earlier before they started so she could wish them luck and talk to them but she had to be where she had to be, supervising. Maybe when it was their break time or something, she thought.
Inching closer, Cassia stood by the tables, hands on her hips as she took in the energetic atmosphere around. Looked like people were enjoying their time which was the goal behind all this.
Her eyes slid back to the bad and she found herself swaying ever so slightly to the music. Her hand went up and waved hoping to catch someone's eye but odds weren't high. It took concentration to preform but she just felt like doing it anyway.

Maybe finding another way to explain things was needed since Austin kind of figured that his wording only would have caused Lily to misinterpret exactly what he had meant and that definitely wasn’t something he wanted to have happen especially when he knew that she ended up going through enough earlier and he didn’t want to make her upset or anything like that. “Good point. I guess I just meant that there isn’t a point in worrying while I explain exactly what’s up especially considering there’s no point in hiding the truth.” he replied then grabbed a chocolate and ate it since hopefully that would have been able to allow him to think. It was hard to reconsider the point, since figuring out how to mention the reason behind his stuttering outside of what already had been said. His girlfriend deserved nothing but the truth and that had unfortunately meant delving into things which he permanently wanted to keep a secret. Couldn’t happen that way though.
After hearing her speak, he blinked and then realized how things sounded; dear Merlin, lately it appeared that he was incapable of making things better. Just worse for everyone that was important to him, whether it be friends or the one that he loved more than anything. “No.. I.” he tried to explain but only took her hand anyway so that he had her attention. “It’s not your fault Lily. It wasn’t your fault that I got upset, if it was anyone’s fault; it’s mine because of the fact that I had started to ignore your conversation which started all of this. You’re not to blame, you just have to believe that.” This was supposed to be a happy day, not one that ended up causing both of them to be annoyed and frustrated. “The stutter only happened because of something when I was younger, I just haven’t explained that to anyone before.” Hopefully she would have believed him since there was nothing else that could have been said.
was he ok, NO he wasnt okay he was more embarrassed then rat in an owl den. No Delilah, No he wasnt okay. you could just leave him here to die and that would be cool cause you know he was doing so anyway.. gosh the blush was getting worse!
"I.. yeah.. Im cool.. just got distracted staring at the..... stage..." yeah no, no one was buying that one Walker. It was clear and obvious he was staring at her and he needed to just Man up and DO something about it, so he stood there and tried to muster up some courage.. He was going to ask her to dance, even if it killed him, which it might.
.... Stage?
Delilah wasn't sure what to say at this point. She was pretty sure he'd been staring at /her/... Um. Did he think she looked odd or something? The girl just looked at him for a moment before clearing her throat slightly. Yeah, the silence was awkward. Very awkward.
"So... do you want to dance or something?" Delilah asked, raising an eyebrow. It would be better than awkwardly looking at each other, yeah? And they were playing such a lovely song, too.

Ooh a fist bump! This was a good sign, yes? Baby steps, of course, baby steps. Awar showed off her 'Shopping Cart' move, "A dance award? I'll say! I think we're pretty pro!"

Kace was waiting for Annalee to say something but she didn't mutter any words. He probably took that as a yes. He nodded and understood their decision and then he turned his attention back on Awarlesta.
He saw Lesta doing the shopping cart move and he laughed at her. But then he joined in. "I think i am gonna do the....sprinkler!" he said standing still and moving his hand in a sprinkler like formation.
He turned to Annalee and asked, "Any dances you would like to contribute?"

Zombie Apocalypse Team Leader ★ ★ in a crown of pepperoni and artisan cheese
After another eventful set, with all the music highs and lows and rhythm stuff, vocal stuff, piano stuff....it was once again time for a break.
Vesper, who'd been staring West down for a good portion of said set, bolted again...before Band!hugs could happen. It wasn't safe to hug him, the Ravenclaw was convinced. Besides, she'd only had pepperoni during their last break and her stomach was announcing its displeasure at the fact. So, food first.
Mhm.
Running fingers through her hair, sweat evident, she snagged a plate and started piling things on top of it...Oh, and that pizza she'd been picking things off of...Well, she'd eat that. No one worry! It wouldn't be wasted...Another water bottle was grabbed, too...as she'd finished off the other pretty quickly up on the stage. It got hot in the spotlight...

"But," She wiggled her mouth around to keep thumbs off her lips, which turned out made talking nearly impossible so eventually she just surrendered to them. "I can't make use of anything with those on my face." Dora was happy again, no need for forcing smiles anymore.
It was recorded music again, but Dora didn't stop dancing since this was apparently counting as one. She spun them on the spot instead.

Obligingly, Alice lowered her thumbs, since her best was smiling on her own and all. See how good she was being? Quite cooperative today. It might have seemed like she was rather difficult to outsiders, but these were probably some of her most agreeable actions.
Even when the recorded music started playing, she stop dancing. The seventh year went on for the whole song before her stomach started rumbling, which wasn't unusual as she hadn't grabbed a bite before the sets had started. Plus Vesper was by the food, and Alice had questions. Would Dora come?
Probably not. "I'm gonna go get a snack. I'll fetch you something, ok?" Second dance down. With that, she turned and made a beeline for the table.

Near famished, Alice quietly sidled up next to the Ravenclaw and chose a plate of her own for piling. Dancing was loads and loads of effort, you know? Even though she hadn't done much of it, moving was a very good excuse for being hungry... not that she needed one.
She kept her eyes on the food, being picky with what she planned to eat, but starting speaking anyway.
"You're a really good pianist." Vesper was, truly. Quite talented in the music department. "Wish I could do that."

She smiled at the young girl and let go of her arms again to let her move on her own now, "Awarlesta, but you can call me Awar." Man, her name was complicated. The girl could call her anything really. Nothing mean though. That wouldn't be nice, would it?
Ooh a fist bump! This was a good sign, yes? Baby steps, of course, baby steps. Awar showed off her 'Shopping Cart' move, "A dance award? I'll say! I think we're pretty pro!"

He turned to Annalee and asked, "Any dances you would like to contribute?"
Anna laughed and continued to dance with the two of them, "It's nice to meet you, Awar." She nodded and smiled. The thirteen year old gave a slight giggle to the dance moves both her and Kace... Maybe it was just because she was a figure skater so it did seem odd to her to have people who didn't try to make things synchronized and nice and everything. Not that it was a bad thing, it was just different to her, but it seemed like fun so she copied them.
... Then Kace asked her to contribute, "I honestly don't know many..." She fought the shaking away from her voice. She really was trying not to let what happen bother her... but it was hard for her, "I mean... I guess there's always the lawnmower..." She showed them and gave a slight laugh, mainly because it really wasn't too far off from the shopping cart... only just having to 'start' the mower before going back to the same basic motion.

Vesper was stuffing a piece of the pizza from earlier into her mouth when Alice started speaking to her. Tbh, the Ravenclaw hadn't paid too much attention to the Gryffindor girl after the first set. More glaring might have happened, otherwise. So, she nearly choked...BUT DIDN'T...because that would've been embarrassing.
Ves carefully swallowed what she'd been chewing.
"Thank you." No, she didn't look at Alice when she said this.

Also. She smirked a little before she bent her head down to look at Lottie's shoes. Heels. Heh, she knew it. "You look tall."
Delilah's smile widened to a grin as they approached the food tables. YUM! She quickly grabbed a plate and loaded it with fooooood which mostly included pizza. Caaaaause, she loved pizza. And it looked vegetarian. Awesome. She followed Louis back to his table and sat down, quickly making her way through the food. Okay, this was good. See, the food made this concert even more worth it.
She poured herself a glass of water and sipped at it a little before she resumed eating. What? She was hungry, okay!? ...... And then Lou said something that literally made her choke a bit. Cue coughing.
Uhm. WHAT.
...... GO SOMEWHERE. ALONE. OH. OH. OHHHHH. Delilah just stared at him for a moment, her cheeks turning bright red. As much as she was enjoying the concert and the music, spending the rest of her night with Lou sounded more than appealing.
She sipped at her water some more before she finally nodded, blushing even more. Oh, jeez.
"I would like that." Really, REALLY like that.
OHMYGOSH.
Ohmyfreakingosh, he killed Delilah.
Louis’s eyes widened when the girl next to him began to choke. He was already scanning his mind for the appropriate spell for the situation, hand halfway down his pocket to grab his wand, when she suddenly seemed to regain her composure. And she just STARED at him.
Oh Merlin.
She probably thought he was being horribly forward. Louis had to look away from her piercing gaze, awkwardly running a hand through his hair just to do something with his fidgety hands. Right. He should probably apologize now.
Lou was just about to open his mouth when Delilah spoke. ”I would like that.” Oh? The boy returned his gaze to her, eyebrows raised. She didn’t mind? She would like that? He couldn’t help the stupid grin that formed on his face at that moment. “Right. Great.” He nodded his head with a smile. “Whenever you’re ready, then.”

When the thumbs where gone, Dora rewarded Alice with another genuine smile and spin. She was taking full advantage of this moment since it wasn't often they danced together, and also Alice weighed substantially less than usual and so it made her being on her feet not so bad.
She could do this for three dances, sure.
But breaks were nice too. It didn't escape her that Vesper was over at the food table and Dora purposefully stayed back when Alice said she was going to get them food. It wasn't a two person job.
She'd dance by herself until then.

"Welcome." Alice selected some of the heart-shaped sushi pieces and placed them on her plate, absentmindedly rearranging them to make random shapes with nimble fingers. Seemed like neither girls were making eye contact today.
Was that enough small talk? Usually, Alice was an extremely direct person, but she was trying to be tactful right now. Trying.
Apparently, her attempt was in vain. "I... I saw you... looking at me." The Gryffindor's tone softened a little, but the her gaze stayed locked on the food. "Why? I don't... I don't know you? And I'm not really sure what I did to make you... dislike me so much."

Awar nodded as both of the younger puffs displayed their dance moves, "Hmm..hmm, not bad, not bad, but HAVE YOU SEEN THE 'TENNIS PLAYER'?!" She proceeded to toss in an invisible ball in the air and whack it with her invisible racket. "Top that!" She forgot for a second she was surrounded by hundreds of other people. Maybe she oughta tone it down a bit...nah.

Heh, so...this was about that. Well, then...
Vesper sighed, thinking she should probably go ahead and look at Alice...Get this over with. Her head and body were still buzzing from her time on the stage. So, the Ravenclaw wasn't exercising the caution she probably should have. Biting into another piece of pizza...Ves shrugged.
"It's probably best not to ask me that here. You won't like what I say." Honesty seemed like the best route at this point...because no, Alice wouldn't like what she had to say one bit. Vesper knew that much.

Vesper could look if she wanted, but Alice wasn't. The seventh year kept her gaze glued on the uneaten sushi, rearranging the pieces to make a snitch and then a frowny face. Best not to make eye contact, right? Those things gave away too much. Windows to the soul, they were. Or something.
"It's okay. I asked for whatever I'm going to hear, I guess." And knowing was always better than not knowing. Always. No matter what.
She poured herself a cup full of pink lemonade and started on one for Dora. Would that go well with sushi? Did it matter?

......
"I don't want to be rude...and it might sound like that." STARE. Why was Alice insisting on this here and now? Vesper was having such a good night...

"I'm asking," she repeated quietly. It wasn't rude if you were being prompted, right? "You don't have to tell me. I just wanted to know."
Besides, Vesper was the one giving nasty looks at random, and she was worried about being rude NOW?
Funny.
