Magic School Bus Field Trip (Lesson One Continues here)
The first lesson of the term is resuming aboard a school bus. Not just any school bus though, but Mrs Frizzle's MAGIC School Bus. Take your seats and get ready for a fun and exciting adventure ride!
ooc: activity has begun HERE. And will go until 9pm EST February 5th. GOOD LUCK!
Delilah almost flew out of her car when someone randomly bumped into her car from behind. This experience was scary enough as it was. She sighed, took a few deep breaths and resumed to drive around for a little while and finally spotted a yellow balloon floating nearby. With a small grin, she reached for it. Awesome.
Holding the balloon in one hand, she drove to the hurdle, bumping into several other cars on the way. Sigh. When could they be done with his? Not anytime soon from the looks of it. The girl screeched to a halt and tied the balloon with a rather relieved look on her face.

Lux was feeling more and more paranoid as she searched for balloons. There were some pretty reckless bumper car drivers, and she did not want to get bumped by any of them. Constantly checking that there was no one coming her way from any angle, she made her rounds on the look out for yellow among all the red, blue, and green.
Finally catching sight of one, she grabbed it and headed over to the yellow hurdle, tying it into place.

Bart was kind of just sitting here. Queen Crazy put them on a 'magical' school bus, brought them to these bumper cars, didn't really tell them how to drive them, and now expected them to collect balloons outside of the car and tie them up. HE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO DRIVE!! Could they use spells to do this? No it was muggle studies, even though he thought he heard know it all use one. Was that allowed?
He was still kind of staring at the wheely thing when he pushed down on the gas and went flying forward until his car it another. Looking up it was Head Girl.. "Wow.. awesome hit." That one really made his neck jolt forward even though it hurt a bit. "ARE YOU FIGURING THIS THING OUT?" Merlin these cars were so loud.
He noticed the balloons everywhere maybe he should try to get them, but first he had to figure out how to move this thing.

Sander was still driving aimlessly around again. He liked driving in bumper cars so much that he had totally forgotten what task he was supposed to do until he saw his young friend...wait what was her name? Lucy or Luck or something close to that reach up and grab the string of a yellow balloon, so he decided to do the same, since what she did looked familiar.
So he slowly drove his car right under a group of balloons and looked around. Wait what color had she taken? Sander shrugged and just grabbed the thread of one and drove his car back to where he had seen Luck tie her balloon. He did the same, tying the thread to the yellow colored hurdle. Then he looked up at the balloon he had picked. It matched all the other yellow colored ones. Yes he has picked a yellow one.

Instructions had been given and Hadley had counted down which meant one thing:
It was time to get star--
... BLINK.
Wild driving was happening. Bumps had been happening, too. Not by him or to him but... from what he could make out, which didn't turn out to be much. BLINK BLINK. The boy sat there, wide eyed and his hands clutching onto the wheel of his bumper car tightly. And... this was really loud. Just... everything. The boy didn't really like it, even if he LOVED the activity, thanks to certain memories.
... Sitting there would only result in him being bumped. And he needed to grab one of those balloons and tie it to the hurdle yeah? At this thought, Alec glanced up at the balloons that were floating overhead. Grab one and tie it to the hurdle. And not just any hurdle, the yellow hurdle that was in one of the corners of the room. How hard could that be?
Very. Which... the eighteen year old soon found out when he started driving his bumper car forward. The balloons kept on moving, you know. If it didn't do that so much, this would be a lot easier. But... HEY! There was a string floating right in fro--
... Not a yellow balloon string. A green balloon one. No, that wasn't right.
His eyes scanned the balloons some more before they landed on a yellow one. Bingo. He drove forwards as carefully as he could, which ended up proving to be really... hard. Bumper cars, you know. There was no such thing as driving carefully for a long time in one of these. Maybe he should start taking actual driving lessons. He was eighteen after all so... he'd be able to get his proper license now. Over the holidays. Maybe. The maybe he could--
Yellow balloon! He leaaaaaaaaaned over -- OW! -- and grabbed the string of it. There. Awesome.

As fun as bumping into others was, she had to keep herself on track. She needed to get as many green balloons tied on to the green hurdles as she could. It was hard to tell who was in the lead at this point with all of the chaos, but worrying about that would only slow her down.
Hannah spotted another green balloon and once again made her way to it while she bumped into people. It could be other Slytherins for all she knew. Her mind was set on one thing, and one thing only. Her mind went to Ian's cane and she thought that it could come in handy right about now. She would be able to whack the ones that her car didn't manage to bump out of her way. Hannah was surprised that her body was cooperating, but it wasn't as if she actually had to move much other than grabbing and placing the balloon. Her old bones were getting a break for once.
Oichi put her foot to gas pedal the moment instructions were told. She started to drive around the the track and felt gleeful for the first time in while. "Wheeee, this is awesome!!!" She then started to look around for a red balloon. She spotted on and stepped her foot a little further on the pedal and sped toward it and reached her arm out for it grabbed for it and it slipped right through her fingers. She saw the direction on it went kept on it and after 30 secconds of swerving this way and that she finally got her fingers. She then for the red hurdle hoping not to bump into any cars and let go of the balloon she finally caught.

But that was extremely off topic. What in the name of Merlin was a pedal doing on a car? Either way, Alice liked what it did, so she rammed into Schuyler's car again as she reached for the hurdle. C'mon, stretch.... stretch...
There, tied! Now could she do more of this bumping? An expression on her face that might resemble what an excited three year old would look like on Christmas morning, she crashed into the other girl's yellow vehicle again. And again. This was the best class ever.

Sorry, Schuyler. Gotta do what you gotta do.
And luckily for her, there was a string of a red balloon floating juuust to her left. Alice reached for it idly, and just as her fingers closed around it, she felt another jolt go through her car.
"Puffer sabotage!" Yep, that was what it was. She gave a rather excited grin to Ella- crashing was SO fun- and then rammed into the Head Girl's car.
Only a couple times. Or maybe more like ten.
Did she really....? Oh. Belly button. Schuyler flashed a grin and nodded, "Yep." She straightened up a bit and lifted her shirt a little past her navel, revealing the piercing. "Cool, right?" She was quite proud of it. Her shirt dropped back over her stomach and she didn't bother to tuck it in.
She hadn't even gotten her hands back on the wheel when another crash came to her car. And another. And another and another and another and Alice had gone crash crazy. On her fellow housemate, no less.
If it hadn't been for those rubber bumpers, there would probably be a serious dent in her fine yellow car. But at least the other girl had managed to get around her car and find another pursuit in ramming into the Head Girl's vehicle. Just you wait, Captain.
Seeing as her fellow Lions were doing a decent job of gathering the red balloons and attaching them to that hurdle, Schuyler decided to attack all the balloons BUT the red ones. See? Take away the enemy points. The Gryffindor reached out and took hold of a yellow-stringed yellow balloon and tugged it down to her chest and squeezed it in a big bear hug.
POP!
Minus one point for Hufflepuff.
And oh look. There was Alice. In perfect position to be collided riiiight against Ella's with a little force. Schuyler stepped on the pedal and headed straight for the quidditch captain.
It could be a nice domino effect, really. Schuyler's front end into Alice's tail and HOPEFULLY Alice's bumper car would then crash nicely into Ella's. Kill two birds with one stone, you know. Or this was the intention. CRAAAAAAAAAASH. Schuyler craned her neck to see the damage.

Fear was in her eyes, although they probably didn't look like too much seeing as to how she was wearing goggles. Her tiny wrinkled hands were gripped onto the steering wheel of her bumper car as she awaited for the countdown to begin. Grab a blue balloon & tie it to the right hurdle. Seemed easy enough right?
...Right?
Before she knew it, the challenge had begun & everyone was zipping & zooming passed the first year with so much speed she didn't know what to do. Josette frantically looked down at the weird looking step things below her feet, not sure what to do. She pressed her foot down on one of the step things & felt herself jerk forward suddenly, making her scream out. Immediately pressing on the other step she came to an abrupt halt. Fearing for her life she looked around at everyone else bumping into each other as they were chasing after balloons.
Focus.
The first year looked above her and noticed a blue balloon not that far from her. Should she go for it? Or was someone else going to beat her to it? Was someone going to hit her in this scary moving thing? Josette whined a little bit like a child before pressing on the step thing to make her move forward. She soon started screaming out of fear as she began to pick up speed towards the balloon. Without looking, she lifted up her arm hoping to reach the string attached to the blue balloon above her.
When she opened her eyes she looked up and smiled surprised at herself. She shouted out with a sudden overwhelming feeling of eagerness, "I GOT IT!" Letting go of the wheel for a moment to cover her mouth, her fear kicked back in and her blue eyes frantically searched for the hurdle she was supposed to tie her balloon too, which was on the other end of the arena.
Oh no.
She immediately pressed down on the step thing to make her move, hoping to reach her destination that seemed so far away.

This time, Terry was actually going to get points for his own house. He was still adamant that it had changed colour from green to blue. It looked so much like it was green from a distance and the sixteen year olds eyesight was usually so perfect.
Moving on..
He zoomed his car around, narrowly avoiding another driver, his mind and eyes focused on a green balloon that had wound itself among a group of yellow and red. It stuck out like a sore thumb but he knew it wouldn’t be so easy to get. He reached up, grabbing the string at the last minute as he continued to drive. This was so fun.
He spotted the hurdle thing on the other side of the room and he dodged his way down towards it. This time he was sure it was green. He very quickly tied it around, loose enough for it not to take him too long but tight enough so that it wouldn’t just fly off.
This time he really had got points for Slytherin and not Ravenclaw. Success.

Clutching onto the string of his balloon tightly -- he was not letting this balloon go -- the boy tried to drive as quickly as he could over towards the...
... erm... where was the yellow hurdle?!
BLINK. Oh no. No no. There were LOTS of people here and some were huddled near the hurdles and... it was getting difficult to figure out which one belonged to which house. But he couldn't stay there either so... he was going to drive over towards the nearest hurdle and hope for the best. Awesome idea? ... Maybe. It was better than panicking, at least.
He drove as quickly as he could -- which wasn't that fast -- over towards the nearest corner. Driving around people was hard when there were so many people here. Lots. And he had to manoeuvre around them which didn't prove to be easy either. But, when he finally made it over towards a hurdle...
... it was a Ravenclaw one. No. That wasn't right.
Frowning, the boy tried to turn around in what he had heard was a three pointer -- thank you, car shows -- and drove around some more. Yellow hurdle... yellow hurdle... THERE it was! It was hard to mistake that bright yellow colour for any other colour. Very hard. Grey-blue eyes narrowing a little, Alec drove over towards that hurdle. Driving... driving... this was hard, you know. ... More driving...
Once he was there, he leaaaaaaned over and started tying the string of the balloon to the hurdle. Wincing was happening since his back and hip area didn't like the idea of him stretching too much. When had stretching become so much of a... challenge?!
... Right. Tying the string. He knotted it before leaning back in his seat again. Awesome.

Puffer sabo-Oh, she was joking! Ella grinned back at Hulk and shrugged. "What's bumper cars without some bu-" Eeeep! Alice was bumping her back! Ella let out a little squeak and giggled, trying to maneuver herself so that she was out of harms way. Every bump felt like it was going to shatter her bones, honestly, but it was too fun for her not to take part.
And hey, she'd managed to bump ... ...that Gryffindor...B...Bart too during all the madness. Ehehehe. "Thank you!" Not that she'd meant to hit him but as long as it worked out. Her eyes widened slightly as he then began yelling at her. UM...okay. "WHY ARE YOU YELLING?" Eardrums, child. Can we not try and break those? Ella needed them.
She would have said more too but then Schuyler happened.

*CRASHHHHHH*
Ouch. That one had hurt. Ella laughed it off, though. Shaking her head, the blonde grinned at the brunette and called, "No fair! You Lions leave the Head Girl alone!" Couldn't they pick on someone else? PLEASE?
But before they could get her again, Ella wiggled her car free with some fancy driving skills and zoomed away from the bunch of crazy crashers. She was after a yellow balloon, oh yes.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
His back and legs were ACHING as he stepped in to the small bumper car but he was too excited to complain about his pains of old age. Yes old age. He didn't know exactly how old he felt but the mirror screamed OLD at him. He ran a hand through his now messy gray hair and tried to figure out how this car thing worked.
He pressed the gas pedal with his foot and ZOOMED to the other side. Quickly stepping on the brake, the Gryffindor leaned back in the seat and grabbed his heart. That had startled him! When he returned his breathing to normal, he looked up at the different balloons on the ceiling and spotted a red one nearby. Awesome~ that one was his!
He turned the wheel and slooowly pressed the gas pedal again. The bumper car drove forward , he stopped to let someone else through and turned his wheel to the right. He was within reach now and as he slowed down he reached his hand up to try and grab the string aaaand....missed it!
The young old? Gryffindor groaned as his car drove further and he turned the wheel, effectively spinning around and he drove back again. He HAD to get that balloon! As he steered with his right hand, Kevin shot his hand up again and then his fingers caught the string and he pulled it down.
WOOHOO~ He had a balloon! Proud of himself, the first year steered the wheel left, stepped on the break when another student drove past and continued navigating his way towards the red hurdle. He slowly stopped in front of it and began to tie the string around the hurdle and when it was tied he looked up to see....a blue balloon... IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE RED!
Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something...
Alright he really had to get out of there now. Not only had the head girl bumped into him, but Captain Cranky Alice and Bra girl were right there too. He wasn't getting near those two together at all. He spun the wheel one way and hit the gas. The care stared going in a circle, no where but a circle. "HEY HOW DO YOU STOP THIS THING." He was getting dizzy being in a circle like this. Really HELP HIM!!
Letting go of the wheel and moving his foot finally got him to slow to a stop. Now if only he could figure this thing out. He hit the gas lightly and the car lurched forward. Alright... Hit the gas again.. move again. A grin formed on his face as he felt like he might have figured it out. He pushed the gas harder with his hands on the wheel going straight.
Now to see if he could get it one handed. He put one hand out of the car and hopped he could clutch a balloon. Hand grasping at anything he came near. Eew did he just grab someones hair?
Oh no it was a string, without looking he moved towards the hurdles. Trying to stop he slid past them and had to turn around. Once turned he tied the string on and looked up. BLUE.... How did he end up with a blue balloon?
Now that she'd gotten one balloon she was determined to get more, despite the aching in her ribs.
Putting her hands back on the wheel Ana pressed on the accelerator again, tearing off around the track and avoiding people as she did so. She didn't want to hit anyone because she was sure it wouldn't be good for her. It actually hurt a bit to breathe so getting bumped wouldn't help. How long was this meant to go for anyway?
Spotting another green balloon Ana decided to go for it. She steered herself towards the balloon, but as she reached to grab it pain lanced through her. Yeah, nope, she didn't need that balloon. She'd gone past it anyway. She might ask where the Hospital Wing was once this was done. She'd ignored all the other symptoms she'd been getting but for this she should probably go. She'd just need someone to lead her there.
HE HAD IT. Toby had stretched and STRETCHED to grab that yellow balloon, and he was pretty sure he'd put a shoulder out of joint the way it was aching. The Hufflepuff just had enough time to look around for the yellow hurdle when he heard Ella call out at someone.
His back was to them so Tobias had to drive around in a tight circle, but he soon see what he needed to. And what he needed to see was that he had to protect a certain pseudo-sister.
Without so much as even thinking about it, and with a mischievous grin on his face, Tobias began accelerating straight for the car of ALICE FISCHER. Just because she was the one in the best position for him to bump.
With his yellow balloon flailing in the air behind him (the hurdle could wait), Toby drove directly at the seventh year's car, wincing as he braced for impact.
FOR ELLA!

He had gotten a few bumps with various other cars and Ben was beginning to wonder if what he was feeling was what a pinball felt like in a pinball machine. The second year wasn't even aware of who was hitting him and wasn't all to concerned about knowing. It was all a part of the activity and he'd rather not make anyone feel guilty for the action that was causing him discomfort if he happened to catch sight of them as it happened or in the aftermath. He just wished he was being more successful himself to make it all worth it.
So far there was no Gryffindor red balloons tied up because of him. No Hufflepuff yellow, Ravenclaw blue or Slytherin green balloons tied up even through his actions. Just a handful of failed attempts. Benjamin would much rather have a handful of red string. Just one...that was all he was asking for.
Getting his chair to move again, Ben went in search of a target. There were several options still available and as he neared a group, the second year attempted to drive with one hand, the other out to grab for whatever he could wind up with. Finally he just grabbed for something, nearly holding his breath as he drew it closer, smiling happily when he noticed the color.
"YES!" Now just to get it to the hurdle. With a start, he headed in the direction of the hurdle, finally making a break for it. His luck was holding up at the moment and when he had reached it, leaned over to tie the string of the red balloon tightly around the Gryffindor hurdle.

Cassia hadn't actually gotten to respond to her question because the Professor was moving on with talks about cars and racing--THEY WERE GONNA GET TO RACE!! Swweeeeett. Granted the Gryffindor couldn't drive herself half a millimetre without crashing but that was all excess details and she must have improved since the last time she tried, afterall, how hard could it be? You just turned that circle thingy and the car moved. Obviously.
Oh wait...wait no, hold on, no, they weren't racing...but doing bumper cars? Bumper cars....where had she heard about those before...? Lex had no time to think about it because the bus had stopped and they were getting out.
Of course she was listening to the rules as the Professor rattled them off but her primary attention grabber was definitely the cars. So prettiful. SHE CALLED DIBS ON A BLUE ONE!!! She had the jacket, gloves and goggles to match. This didn't by any means say she would be helping the claws, nah, she'd be getting red balloons, but well, you got the idea.
The Gryffindor wasted no time in bolting to a car and hopping in. OKAY, first things first, she STOOOMPED hard on the gas, getting pumped to zip across the place....but ended up rammed right into someone else's. What the kneazle? Couldn't they see her driving here??

Sander laughed as he watched the other students bump cars with each other. He so wanted to join them but there was something nagging him at the back of his mind. He was supposed to do something. The professor had told them they had to find something. He was getting worried. His memory hadn't been bad like this before. What happened if it didn't improve by the time he had to sit for his NEWTs??
Sander sighed and watched a Gryffindor boy reach up, grab a red balloon overhead and then bring it over to the red hurdle and tied the string to the hurdle. Deciding that he might as well copy what the boy was doing he looked up, found a balloon he liked and then drove his car towards it, steering his car to avoid the bumping cars.
When he was directly under the balloon, he stretched up with his hand and grasped hold of the string. Then he drove back to where he has seen the boy tie his balloon to, and he picked the hurdle where no one was parked at and tied his balloon there. Yes that looked nice. Yellow balloon to yellow hurdle.

Bart was after another balloon. He saw it in his reach and went to grab it. This was going to be he was finally going to grab it. Reaching out for it he grasped it and pulled it to him. YES it was about time hew as figure this all out. Driving over to the hurdles he tied the red balloon on.
Now for another one, but wait. He watched the others and his bearded grin grew. You know what this game was alright, but he was in a car. A car that was allowed to ram into people. Hence the name bumper cars, right? Why the heck was he going after balloons when there were other people in bumper cars to run into.
Oh yes it was time for some fun the Bartman style. He rubbed his beard thinking for only a second and set his eyes on a group. Hitting the gas as hard as he could the car took off not as fast as he wanted but still straight for the other cars and ramming into one.

NO.
The balloon he had just tied to the hurdle? The knot had become undone and now the balloon was floating away. But he had TIED it to the hurdle! Couldn't it... well... stay there?! He just had to grab it back, no big deal, right? After few failed attempts, Alec finally managed to grab onto the end of the string. Breathe. He tried to shake off the pain that was shooting up and down his back and, instead, concentrated on tying the string back to the hurdle. Tightly.
Once it was tied back, he leant back and grinned at his work. Stay there, yeah, balloon? Then he'll go and get some other balloons to--
OOMPH! "AAAAAAAAARGH!"
His bumper car had managed to JOLT forwards, making him jolt in the process too and let out a loud "OWWWW!" Once his car had stopped and he managed to shake off the feeling, a slow grin spread across his face and he turned to look this way and that. Who...?
...
"Was that you?!" Looks for the Candy Girl. Plans for revenge, too. They were in Bumper Cars, after all.
Oichi took a sharp turn right when she saw the red ramp and came within inches of hitting someone but somehow avioded it and got her red balloon to the ramp and tied it into place. She then went on the hunt for next one.

Finally reaching the Blue hurdle, she struggled for a moment before she finally managed to tie the string around it. Good, she got one! Thankfully. Josette gripped onto her wheel once again looking around the area of all of the bumping cars. Did she really have to go back out there. Actually, it wasn't even that, did she want to go back out there? As much as she knew she didn't want to, the first year knew she had to get back out & at least try to get more balloons for her house, because from the looks of it, it wasn't looking like there were a lot of blue balloons tied around the blue hurdle right now.
Her blue eyes scanned around the arena & then spotted another blue balloon that wasn't too far this time. Pressing down on the step thingy to make her go, her speed began to pick up as she headed straight for it. Once near it, she threw her arm up; hearing a crack in her shoulder just as she gripped onto the string. She muttered a painful, "Oww.." Josette's arm was killing her, she was beginning to feel like some old lady or something. Why did it feel like her bones were so easy to crack like that? Josette tried not to think about the pain too much as she was making her way back towards the blue hurdle which was coming closer & closer by the second. Bringing her car to a stop once next to the hurdle, the first year struggled again as she tied the blue balloon to the blue hurdle. Two balloons. Good! Keep going!

He grinned at the steering wheel for a few seconds. He swerved around a group of people he recognized from his house. They weren't very good drivers. At least, he assumed most of those bumps were actually accidental.
He grabbed one of the balloons and started heading over to the red zone.

Bev couldn't believe this was something muggles invented. It was too cool to have been their idea. It didn't matter either way, she needed to get her hands on those dangling strings and earn Slytherin balloons. Moving from her little spot, the third year had difficulty steering the way she wanted to go. It wasn't hard per se, but there was a lot of breaks in between.
Pushing on forward she had to make a sharp turn to the right to avoid collision. MOVE IT! she wanted to say, but that would attract attention. It was better to go unnoticed and get all the balloons.
Reaching up her hand closed around at string attached to a green balloon. All that was left was to go tie it at the Slytherin's corner. Carefully maneuvering to said destination she barely made it. She tied the string onto the hurdle.
