Alex strapped herself into the car and was ready to start. On the Professor's signal, she got her car moving and went in search of blue balloons. Making a hard right turn, and headed for the nearest Ravenclaw balloon that was fluttering in the air. Trying to maintain one hand on the steering wheel, Alex reached for the string. The string sailed just out of reach, but after several trIes she was able to grab it. Wrapping the string securely around her hand, Alex zigged and zagged her way to the blue hurdle. Quickly tying the string around the hurdle, she sped off in search of another balloon.

Free bump! Claim ussss.

Almost immediately, Alice decided she was more interested in crashing into things than trying to do that balloon exercise. Sure, she could practice that while she was at it, but.... really? Why would she?

Bumping time! Woohoo!

The seventh year grabbed the string of a red balloon as she aimed for a car in front of her, not even bothering to see who it was. The crash jolted her knee a little, which practically made the joint scream in pain- since when was her leg so sensitive? Damn knee-, but she kept maneuvering around the obstacles. Dumb cars. Where was that hurdle?

FireboltAvis88 02-04-2014 05:22 AM

Sander steered his car, quickly turning his steering wheel, to avoid one car, only to bump into another. "Sorry," he called out as he drove around and around the other cars. He looked up and spotted an yellow balloon and quickly drove his car towards it. This would be an easy catch. He waited until the balloon was floating above him and quickly reached up and caught hold of the string.

Driving his car back to the yellow hurdle, he tied the string of the yellow balloon to the hurdle before tying a double knot in it. Then he went to look for another yellow balloon.

massive catch up post >.<

Being a good girl, and mostly because she wanted to live, Beverly put the seat belt on. Where were they going? Were they going to see dragons or some cool-looking creature? Hopefully not something extremely muggle, like cleaning or something. She broke out of her thoughts when something hit her head. Green goggles? More stuff fell; gloves and a jacket. Oh. Um. Okay. She put the equipment on, snapping on the goggles. Ouch. Shouldn't have done that.

The she made the biggest mistake in Mistake Land: Staring out the window. Beverly didn't like heights of any kind, and realizing she was in a freaking-flying bus she was starting to freak out.

BREATHE. BREATH. SHE WAS SCARED.

The third year shut her eyes, her nails digging into the seat. She wanted down now. Pleeease. Chinese Fireballs! Such a coward thing, but...GAH!

What was the professor saying. Bumping cars? First flying buses, now bumping cars. Was professor Hadley trying to get them killed? And no, she didn't know how they worked. She knew next to NOTHING about muggles and she was STILL freaking out! Oh wait. She wasn't going to kill them. She wanted the students to kill themselves. How Slytherin of her. It was a clever idea she wouldn't get blamed for.

Through her anxiety, she managed to hear the rest of the professor's explanation. Oh. So it was all a game. Okay. Never mind. Once the bus stopped and they were allowed out, Bev rushed toward the exit. Why had she agreed to this class again? Her brother owed her big time.

Breathing helped, but now she had a headache. Merlin, she was getting too old to freak out like that. No, no. Not old. Bah! Not old. Just...predictable.

Feet firmly planted on the ground, her eyes scanned for a suitable car. Spotting a green one, she went ahead and hopped on it. Tiny cars were better than flying buses any day. She listened to the rules and clutched the steering wheel. She didn't know how to drive. How was she supposed to grab balloons, tie them in Slytherin's corner without knowing how to get there? Well...she was clever. It wasn't Alchemy. And where was Train Boy? Again, she should have asked more about cars.

When they got the go, Beverly sat still on her car, trying not to attract any attention. Her eyes scanned for a safe opening. Somewhere she'd be able to swoop effortlessly toward, grab a balloon and tie on the Slytherin's hurdle. EYES EVERYWHERE.

catching up kinda thing yeah

Bumper cars?

Those things at an amusement park that Muggles take their aggression out on?

Initially Huxley was miffed-- she quite like the chauffer service. But it is also part of her nature to take the wheel-- thats why she sat behind the driver of the so called magic-y bus because who wouldnt want to drive an of a out-of-control barreling tin can?

She stood there for a bit, arms crossed, listening as the Professor gave her instructions. Ugh ugh really? She can grab those things with her wand if all they needed was to round up some balloons....

... oh right. No wands. Pfft.

Uneasily she slipped into one of the cars and fidgeted with the controls. After a few bumpy starts she finally turned the wheel this way and that to get to a blue colored balloon..... Now wait a minute. How was she supposed to drive AND hold onto the balloon AND navigate her way through all this crazy drivers huh?

She wrapped the string around her fingers as she tried to desperately make he way to the blue corner. Did these have horns? "HEY WATCH IT!" she yelled. Yeah yelling seems to be far more effective today.

Finally makes it to the Claw corner and ties her balloon up. She looks back from where she came from completely vexed. She has to go through all that for another balloon? Pfffft.

lemon 02-04-2014 05:55 AM

The hurdle felt SO far away. So, so far. It would take her so long to reach it, she'd probably be dead by the time it happened.

Dead. Yep. Wasted away Alice Fischer, may she rest in peace in her bumper car.

But apparently she was wrong, because after a bump from someone, her car went in that direction. How did she work this wheel thing again? When she turned it left, it lurched, and going right made her spin like a top. She must have crashed into another 3 or so cars, and maybe the Hufflepuff hurdle, before she reached the one where she was meant to tie her balloon up. This was hard, y'know?

Cedric 02-04-2014 05:57 AM

Aliceee

Yellow car! Because yellow was her favorite color, not because she wanted to be a Hufflepuff.

Hadley explained the directions and what to do with the balloons and so forth. Get the red balloons to the red hurdle, then. Okay. Yes. Sure. And bump into other people in the process.

Goggled and gloved and jacketed, Schuyler gripped her hands on the wheel. There was a lot less that you had to think about now, in bumper cars, than in an actual car. There were no keys and no radio and you couldn't go in reverse. But hitting other cars was encouraged in THESE cars.

Though you could still be kind of gangster. Like, did these things have those bouncy things? What were they called? Hydraulics?

No... unfortunately. Probably not. But that didn't mean that Schuyler couldn't make up for them.

Just before the game began, Schuyler slinked down low in her seat (too bad she couldn't adjust it so the seat went way back), stretched one arm straight out so that her wrist draped over the steering wheel, and bobbed her head all cool like once or twice. OKAY GO.

Only she didn't just go. She accelerated, then braked. Accelerated, then braked. And it actually did kind of look like the bouncy things.

"Hey, Alice." Bump. Bump. See? She was doing her own bumping. Gaaas pedal. Gaaaas pedal. "This is how you actually drive a car." In case she wanted to know.

Oh yeah, those balloons? She would get to those..

FireboltAvis88 02-04-2014 05:57 AM

When Sander spotted another yellow balloon floating above one of cars, he quickly turned his car and headed for it. "Out of the way...out of the way. BEEP! BEEP!...out of the way," he called out as he waved to the student in the car. Sander began to get worried. Was the kid going to get out in time before he ended up crashing into his car?

Just at the last minute, the balloon floated off to the right and Sander quickly turned the steering wheel. His car slowly turned in the direction he wanted, narrowly missing the car. Sander kept his eye on the prize...the yellow balloon, and when he was right under it, he reached out with his fingers and twirled them around the string and pulled the balloon back to the yellow hurdle.

"Excuse me....excuse me," he called out as he neared the hurdle and then he stopped his car, pulled down the string and tied it securely to the hurdle. Another one safely captured.

"Oh, yeah. You were on that trip too." The one where Dora had invited VESPER and not HER (Alice was never going to get over that).

But either way, it meant she had help now.

"What do I do with that little pushy thingy under my foot?" Was that even supposed to be there? Why. Why was it in the way. She probably had a malfunctioning car, and life was awful. Could she have a working one like Schuyler's? It was no fair that the experienced driver got the good equipment. Alice was at a double disadvantage.

Curiously pushed on the pedal with her shoe, she was surprised when she rammed right into Schuyler's car. Oh. So that was what it did. Helped smash stuff. Awesome!

Did Alice know she wasn't completely serious? Because fake hydraulic driving was not proper driving. That thick-stached driving instructor would be giving her the hairy eyeball if he saw her right now. Or if he saw them driving on that road trip, really. "Mhmm. It was awesome." Alice should have come.

What did she do with the pushy thingy? "The pedal?" If she was calling it the pushy thingy, then pushing it might be a fine thing to--- BUMP.

Schuyler's car's front end swiveled to the left as the other girl's collided into it. It also automatically brought Schuyler into a more proper, ready driving position. Two hands on the wheel, too. "Looks like you got the hang of it," she commented with a light grin. Now if it had been intentional, she may have had to bump her back. But there were plenty of other, non-Gryffindor people to run into.

"I heard. Did you really... your belly button...?" Could she see?

But that was extremely off topic. What in the name of Merlin was a pedal doing on a car? Either way, Alice liked what it did, so she rammed into Schuyler's car again as she reached for the hurdle. C'mon, stretch.... stretch...

There, tied! Now could she do more of this bumping? An expression on her face that might resemble what an excited three year old would look like on Christmas morning, she crashed into the other girl's yellow vehicle again. And again. This was the best class ever.

Catchin up

The bus ride was awesome, so much so that Michael didn't even mind wearing the jacket, hat and gloves. This was probably the most exciting class he had been to yet.

Although he had to admit that he was a little disappointed that they were not going to do the race car thing. He had almost jumped out of his seat when Professor Hadley had brought that up. He supposed he could understand the danger thing. Okay no he couldn't because he had actually driven a car. On a race track and he had managed not to crash.

But he knew that he was not going to change the Professor's mind so he had to settle for the bumper cars. He had done this before as well. Lots and lots of times and to be honest it was still just as fun as the first time he had gone in one.

Once they were off the bus, Michael ran straight for a red bumper car. He was so going to win this competition because not only could he drive but everyone knew that red cars were the fastest of all cars. He slid down into the seat, placed the seatbelt over his shoulder and placed his hands onto the steering wheel.

When it was time to start, he pressed his foot onto the accelerator and took off. Within seconds he had collected a red ballon and headed down to the hurdle.

One red balloon tied to the red hurdle.

Daydreamer11 02-04-2014 12:44 PM

Spotting another blue balloon slowly drifting in front of her, Alex made a beeline for it. She was so close, she had just begun to reach for it when....Boom! Another car rammed into the back of hers. "Hey watch where you're going", she yelled at the driver. Unfortunately, her balloon had flown away.

Unhappy that she had to start all over again, Alex scanned the ceiling for another balloon. Seeing one nearby, she sped in that direction. This time the catch was easy and she secured the balloon. Trying to avoid other cars, Alex made her way back to the blue hurdle and tied her balloon on to it. "That's two", she thought to herself.

TakemetotheBurrow 02-04-2014 02:19 PM

*missed all the things* And a bump for anyone to claim :)

Bumper cars!

Ella knew all about these, did Hadley know? Her green eyes had immediately scanned the place for Alec and she smiled for reasons. He remembered, yeah? That birthday with the bumper cars. He'd tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and he'd kissed her cheek on that day and-Yeah. That had been a really, really nice day.

Anyway, they were meant to get into the bumper cars now so that's what Ella did. She picked out a nice green one, that being her favorite color, and listened carefully to the instructions. Balloons and hurdles. Okay, she could manage that. She'd driven this kind of thing before so that gave her a leg up, yeah? Maybe? The only thing she was worried about was getting bumped as her bones felt on the verge of shattering lately but she'd suck it up. She was a Quidditch player, after all. No stranger to bumps and bruises.

And... ... they were off!

Yellow.

Easy enough to spot, yeah? The blonde tried not to worry about the other people driving around her and focused on one she'd spotted in the distance. Hadley wasn't kidding about how they moved, either. The balloon was good at evasion, obviously, because as Ella closed in, it seemed to doge her hand completely. Hm!

Following after it, she saw another opportunity to make a grab and she reached out, biting her lip as she streeeeetched her free hand and grasped onto the string. "Gotcha!"

And now to get to the hurdle.

As she turned her car towards the direction of the right one, she crashed right into another car, sending her balloon out of her grasp. "Merlin!"

Lady of Light 02-04-2014 02:21 PM

.... Delilah wasn't sure if she liked this lesson now. For once, there was DRIVING involved and she was scared, okay? She always had been. For some weird reason. And now their task involved driving bumper cars. Awesome. Yeah they were only bumper cars but STILL. Maybe she could be excused but nah. It involved points so she might as well try it, yeah?

The girl gingerly sat in a bumper car, trying really hard not to panic. She didn't want to end up crying in front of all these people. Meh. And, look! She already spotted a yellow balloon a little way off. Time to drive this thing around and hope that she survived.

Concentrating on not bumping the car into someone else's, the girl quickly drove over to where the balloon was before making her way to the hurdle.. ( bumping into some cars along the way ) and tied it. Phew. Success.

Now, to another one. She could do this.

Lottiepot 02-04-2014 02:28 PM

Heh.

This was actually quite fun. The Slytherin's eyes lit up as he got in the car and grabbed hold of the steering wheel. Okay then. How did this thing woooor--

*whoosh*

Like that obviously. He grinned as he zoomed around the room heading towards a green balloon that didn't like to stay in the same place. His arm was outstretched as he attempted to grab hold of the balloon. Once. Miss. Twice. Miss.

Third time lucky?

He managed to grab hold of the string as he drove towards the hurdle. How he was supposed to tie it on was a completely different question. He was too busy concentrating on not crashing into anyone else which was difficult when your eyesight had gone weirdly blurry. He really did need to catch up on sleep.

He slowed down as he approached a hurdle, tying the balloon to it as quickly as possible and then pulling away with a satisfied smirk, only for it to return to a frown as he saw what colour he had tied it on to. Blue. Urgh! He could've sworn it was green when he was approaching it.

Had this game been rigged? Did they just change colour?!

MudInMyBlood 02-04-2014 02:39 PM

Okay so muggle studies was not something that she looked forward to ever, but this whole bumper car thing was pretty exciting. Hannah hoped her old bones would cooperate with her enough for her to get as many balloons as she could. Slytherin had to get the most so they would be declared the winner. The seventh year wondered if the winning team would get a prize in the form of house points? One could always hope.

Hannah didn't waste anytime getting herself into a bumper car and getting right down to business. She shrugged off the pain, the old bones, the bad hearing and got right to it. She was out for blood. Well, she didn't really want anybody to bleed or anything, but you got the point. Her sights were set on a green balloon and she soared towards it.

Grrr..Meow 02-04-2014 02:47 PM

zooming around in his car again Bay spotted another red balloon.. "awesome" he said out loud while concentrating really hard on getting that one.

he almost bumped into two students.. "sorry" he mumbled as he sped away to capture the balloon.

Grabbing it with his hand he made his way back to the hurdle.. he tied it tightly and went in search for anther.

UnicornDragonPatronus 02-04-2014 02:57 PM

Bump! For anyone!

Tessa sped off after another string. She was having way too much fun driving these... what were they again? She frowned as she struggled to remember the name. Bump... it was Bumper something.

Bumper cars... right. She sighed, and refocused on her balloon string. She sped around, and finally caught the wayward string. She zoomed back to the red handle tying the... wait, the balloon was green! A color she liked, sure, but not the color she had wanted.

She turned away, frustrated by her mistake and went off to get the next- correctly colored- balloon. She was so distracted that she didn't notice the car speeding her way.

BUMP!

"Sorry!" she exclaimed, steering away from the person she had bumped.

MudInMyBlood 02-04-2014 03:10 PM

Not even paying attention to anything around her, Hannah was zooming in and out of people and she was hitting people left and right without even paying attention to what she was hitting and if they were okay. This was a game and she planned on winning. She would bump into whoever she needed to to get what she wanted. Would they expect anything less from the Slytherin?

Finally, she was right on top of the green balloon and her hands gripped it and she tried her best to make her way around everybody and get going to the right direction, the direction that lead her to the green hurdle. Her journey to the hurdle wasn't as rough a it was to get the balloon. The Slytherin easily made it to her destination and tied the green balloon to the green hurdle. She was ready for some more action.

Anna Banana 02-04-2014 05:20 PM

...and they were OFF!

As Sophie made her way through the crowd of students, she mentally reviewed the rules of the game. All she had to do was find a green balloon and attach it to a green hurdle. Simple enough. Of course she'd only go for the green balloons. No way would she be dumb enough to willingly attach a perfectly good green balloon to the hurdle of another house. Especially not the yellow hurdle. Those Hufflepuffs were particularly good point earners, but they wouldn't be earning any points on her behalf.

Sophie made her way through the crowd of students in search of a green balloon. She reached for one, and soon enough, it was in her hands. Now all she had to do was attach it to a green hurdle. She made her way through the crowd of students and toward the hurdles. Yellow...red...blue...and finally GREEN! Sophie grinned as she attached the balloon to the green hurdle.

She flashed another grin at Schuyler as she tried to figure out how to back away from the girl's car... only Alice had no idea. The inexperienced driver that she was, maybe it was just best to bump her way out? The seventh year rammed into the tiny vehicle before her over and over and over again before she finally managed to get it out of the way.

Sorry, Schuyler. Gotta do what you gotta do.

And luckily for her, there was a string of a red balloon floating juuust to her left. Alice reached for it idly, and just as her fingers closed around it, she felt another jolt go through her car.

"Puffer sabotage!" Yep, that was what it was. She gave a rather excited grin to Ella- crashing was SO fun- and then rammed into the Head Girl's car.

Only a couple times. Or maybe more like ten.

Lissy Longbottom 02-04-2014 05:29 PM

OOOH ok. Caleb liked these little activities that were competitions between houses. Because even if their house LOST, Caleb knew that HE had done everything in his power to help. Everyone else on the Slytherin team was just a loser. BUT hopefully this time, they wouldn't need to think like that!

Not wasting any time trying to bump into other people, he spotted a green balloon and veered STRAIGHT towards it, uninterested in whether or not he actually hit anyone. He grabbed the balloon and then saw Sophie nearby tying another green balloon to the green post. HI SISTER! He grinned and floored it, coming up next to her with a screech as he tied the balloon next to hers.

Maybe it was a good thing that Caleb didn't have access to muggle transportation. He'd probably get arrested for reckless driving.

FireboltAvis88 02-04-2014 05:48 PM

Sander went swerving for another...wait what he supposed to be searching for? He drove his bumper car aimlessly around wondering what he was supposed to be doing. Then he noticed the other students grabbing balloons of different colors. So Sander drove around until he found a balloon he liked, reached up and grabbed the string before dragging the balloon to where he saw others tie their balloons to.

Once he had tied the string, he looked up at the balloon and smiled at it. He really loved the color yellow. That's why he picked that balloon and tied it to a yellow hurdle.

Catch-Up and Tessa

Bumper Cars!

Ana had only driven a bumper car once before, it was at a fair last year with that good for nothing... She'd only driven once before. But she knew they were fun, and a great way to take out aggression. What made it better was that they were going to have a competition.

This was clearly the best lesson ever. Hadley was so competing with Professor Airey to be An'a favourite. Not that Hadley knew that, but hey. She was.

Smiling in delight Ana rushed to choose a car when they were given the go ahead, eagerly jumping behind the wheel of a green one. Now, she had to grab a green balloon and tie it to a green...what was the word again? For the life of her Ana couldn't remember. It felt like it was on the tip of her tongue but she simply couldn't recall it. Oh well, the name wasn't really all that important. She had to grab a green balloon and tie it to the green thingamajig to get points.

Once she was secure in the car and had her hands on the wheel she pressed down on the accelerator hard. She could spy a green balloon with her name on it.

Ana was careful to avoid other students as she went for the balloon, it was moving but she managed to get along side it. Only it was just out of her reach. Frowning she stood up, making sure to keep her foot on the accelerator, and one hand on the wheel, she didn't want to live too dangerously just to get the balloon.

Ana's fingertips brushed against the string for a few seconds, and she leaned a bit further forward and to the side so that she could grab it. Success.

Ana was just lowering her body back into the car when she was bumped. She jolted forward and her torso smacked hard against the steering wheel as she'd lost as her balance. She winced when she felt something crack. That hurt, that really, really hurt.

"It's fine," Ana called back to Tessa, having noted that it was her old friend who'd bumped into her. After all, if Ana had of been sitting down it likely would have been.

Somehow having managed to keep hold of the balloon Ana slowly and carefully lowered herself back into the drivers seat. Her ribs were killing her, she was pretty sure some of them were broken. But this was a competition and she wanted to get at least one balloon tied to her teams thingie. Her ribs could wait until after class.

She drove more slowly towards her teams hurdle, holding in a gasp as she let her car come to a stop so she could tie the balloon on, making sure it was secure. She was met with the sight of green balloon, tied to green hurdle and was glad. She'd gotten at least one point.
