Default Library Bookshelves

A large number of floor-to-ceiling bookcases fill up the library, creating aisles upon aisles of books available for students to read and browse. To make finding books for all years a little easier Mr Kitridge has divided the bookshelves into sections like romance, suspense, crime, history, plants and fungi etc.

To return books just walk up to the appropriate shelf and hold up the book. The gripping charm in place on the shelves will take a hold of the book. When you feel a tug on the book let go and the book will fly up and find its right place amongst the other books on the shelves. When retrieving a book you can use the sliding ladders or if you feel confident with your magic you can use a simple accio charm to retrieve the book you want.

In front of each aisle there is small set of desks which students can use to complete homework, copy notes, take book references or chat. Keep your voices down and be mindful of falling books and other students accessing books around you.

Happy reading and learning!

Louis was making his way down the aisle of bookshelves at a sluggish pace, large blue eyes reading over the titles on the spines of almost every book he passed by. He was in search of the Charms section, where he would hopefully find an entire volume dedicated to appearance-altering charms.

The boy was so focused on each book and its titles, that he didn't notice the sea of other books scattered across the floor. As he continued to move blindly, his right foot ended up kicking a rather nasty book that began to bounce around down the aisle after it was touched, as if it had been disturbed from a peaceful nap.

"Ah!"
Louis gave a startled little jump, watching as the book scattered away on its pages. What in the world were all these books doing on the floor?! That's when he spotted a pair of feet standing in the middle of the mess. He lifted his gaze to spot the girl that stood there, looking bored and unbothered by the mess he was sure the librarian would have a fit about.

Um.
"Are these all your books?" he asked softly, eyebrow raised.
Justine, (who had her nose firmly planted in a poorly written but interesting book on the subject of Hippogriff courting practices) had not noticed the young man approaching the area of the bookshelves she had claimed as her own, nor did she notice the nasty book that was currently nipping at her ankles.
Only when the boy spoke to her in soft tones, that she finally noticed his presence.

"Are what all mine?" Justine asked in her natural french accent, not catching the least bit of what he was saying. She frowned at the sensation of a small something jumping around her legs. She blinked in surprise to see the leather-bound tome.
"Strange Zhing." She said, speaking more to herself then to the boy in front of her. Justine wondered if the thing would be safe to pick up, as at the moment it seemed very intent on trying to attack her, or hug her, she wasn't sure.

“The books,” Louis replied as the mystery girl very nonchalantly asked what he was talking about. There was something slightly funny about the way she spoke. It was as she spoke again, commenting on a nearby book, that he noticed the accent. An accent he was all too familiar with, having heard it every day that he spoke with his mother.

Parlez-vous français?” he asked curiously. His french was very limited, so there were unnecessary pauses of hesitation between each word, but the pronunciation was spot-on. He really hoped he hadn’t assumed wrong ‘cause wow would it be awkward if it looked like he had just randomly started talking to a stranger in a foreign language just for the sake of being random.

Louis eyed the books on the floor a little warily, watching as some of them flinched every now and then, as if reacting to a dream they were immersed in. The boy pulled out his wand and levitated each book to its original spot, one at a time. He hoped the girl didn’t mind, because the librarian sure would. "So do you do this often?" he asked as he placed the last book back in its place. "Litter the floor with moody books, I mean." He was half-teasing. But also legitimately curious.

Justine's green eyes widened with surprised pleasure as the boy asked her if she spoke French, in French; She was so pleased that he thought she could kiss him, though she certainly wouldn't because that would be strange, even for her.

"Oui, je sues de France. voter pronunciation est très bonne," She said, speaking excitedly. Justin couldn't the last time she had been pleasantly surprised or pleasantly anything, she sincerely hoped he was fluent in the language.

She watched with mild interest as the young man casted a spell that levitated and placed by the myriad of books that she had completely forgotten she had picked out. Did I do all that? i had better start paying more attention. She thought. Justine was lucky it had only been the young man around or she might've been in trouble.

Justine smiled as the kindly boy jokingly asked her if she did this sort of thing often, she shrugged nonchalantly.
"Not really, but apparently I do now," She joked, clasping her hands behind her back modestly. "Sometimes, I get distracted and I suppose Zhis is a product of Zhat distraction," She said, laughing lightly at herself.

Louis could see the girl’s face light up with excitement after he spoke, and that was all he needed to be sure. Yep, she was definitely French. Her response guaranteed that confirmation. As she complimented his pronunciation, he smiled, looking away shyly for a brief second before returning his attention to the girl.

Merci beaucoup. Ma mère est de la France,” Lou explained with a nod. “I don’t really practice the language as much as I should, though…” So if Mystery Girl was hoping to engage in a deep, meaningful conversation about the meaning of life in her mother tongue, Louis would probably not be the best partner. However, if she wanted to talk about how good the toast had been that morning, his French could deal with that much.

Louis listened quietly as she explained she’d been distracted. Fair enough. He understood all about being distracted by a good book. “I’m Louis Bolton, by the way,” he said, offering the girl an outstretched hand. “This is my first term here at Hogwarts.” He wondered vaguely if she was new too.

Justine listened with delight as the young man explained that his mother was from France, so he like her was of mixed parisian descent, she wondered briefly if their mothers might have known each other, but her attention was soon turned as he added that he didn't often practice the language, well, fluent or not it was just nice to hear her native tongue again.
"Vraiment? C'est beau! Je vis, ou je viva is à Paris." Justine said, speaking a bit quickly with her excitement, though she had a feeling she had better switch back to English, she didn't want to make things difficult for the young man, especially as he was the first nice person she'd met. "It is so good to hear French again, you have no idea," added, trying to rein in her excitement.
Be cool Justine, be cool.

The brunette grinned and happily shook his outstretched hand.
"Justine Janvier, it is a pleasure to meet you," She said, truly and sincerely meaning it, if Hogwarts had more students like Louis Bolton, maybe it wouldn't be such a bad year after all.

She blinked in surprise as Louis said it was his first term at the magical school, did Hogwarts often have students transferring in, and here she had thought she was special!
"Oui, it is my first term, If you don't mind my asking, why did you transfer?" Justine asked, a thoughtful expression on her face. There was her natural curiosity getting the better of her, again. She had really better start minding her own business, it was going to get her into trouble one day.

So the girl wasn’t just from any part of France, she was from Paris. Louis raised his eyebrows. He’d visited many times before, but it never ceased to amaze him. It was a beautiful city indeed. “Lucky girl,” he said with a smile. “My mother is from Bourgogne, so… not very far off your city.” He chuckled softly when she expressed joy at hearing her language again. Aw. He thought he had it rough transferring from another school in the same country, he could only imagine how isolated she must’ve felt. “Well, if it makes you feel any better I’ll speak my broken French more often just so you can hear it. Voulez-vous que?” He was teasing, sure the girl had no interest in hearing a fifth-grade level of her tongue.

Ah! And so Mystery Girl had a name! Justine. Pretty.
“Pleasure’s all mine,” Louis replied politely, a little surprised at how honest the girl’s voice sounded. It was like she really was happy to meet a person. Dear Merlin, what kind of experience had she been having at Hogwarts so far?!

Louis wasn’t as surprised, though, when she confessed she was new too. He had a feeling.
Now she was asking why he’d transferred. “My old school was closing down, actually,” he explained. “It’s a small all-boys academy down south. There weren’t as many boys coming in as there were graduating, so…” he figured she could figure out the rest. “What about you?” Now it was his turn to be curious.

" 'Av you been there before? Paris I mean," Justine asked, her book laid forgotten and sad on the shelf beside her, she had lost complete interest in it now that she had real, human contact.
As the boy mentioned that his mother was from Bourgogne, Justine could not suppress her grin, she had been there many times over the years as it was a favorite vacation spot of her mothers, though it had been sometime since.
"I love Bourgogne, it's absolutely beautiful in zee summer," She said.

She chuckled as he talked about using his broken French to make her feel better, her mouth set into a wry grin, she replied: "Only if it isn't too much trouble, you're actually very good for someone who does not speak it often,"

"Zat's a shame about you school, I know how hard it is to uproot yourself so.... Uh, suddenly," She said, having difficulty finding the right word, her english was fairly good, but she occasionally she still struggled with it. "It must feel very different to be in a co-ed school after being only around boys," Justine added with a small smirk.

Justine bit her lip as he asked her about her own reason for transferring, it wasn't that she didn't want to tell him or anything like that, it was just that she didn't want to be pitied. She could tell Louis the truth, just maybe leave the bit about her parents messy divorce. "My family decided to move, my father, 'e is English and 'e missed London, 'e didn't like me going to Beauxbatons when it was so far away, so... 'ere I am,"

His smile widened when the girl mentioned she had been to Bourgogne before. “It is. I’d love to move there one day.” Perhaps when he was done with his studies.

Wow, she really thought his French was ‘very good’? Lou seemed pleased. “Well, thank you. You’re not half bad yourself,” he joked.

The boy tilted his head just very slightly to the side as he listened to Justine struggle to find the right words. He didn’t interrupt her, though, and let her figure it out herself. Riiiight. “Yeah, it’s, uh… it’s definitely different,” he said, looking away with a smile, a little awkwardly. ‘Different’ didn’t even begin to cover the experience he’d had here so far. Girls were very interesting creatures.

She was here for her potions essay. History and stuff. She didn't know how much she would find in a WIZARDING library, but she still had to try. So she was walking around the bookshelves, trying to find anything on beauty. Even books about the trends in the wizarding world would be considered helpful.

And the redhead hoped she would find something. Of course she learned about history during homeschooling, but she also read more about it in her free-time when she was done with her work. She had a pretty good handle on this, but she wanted something more. She wanted to back up her essay. Caelen didn't just want it to be her opinions. Because she felt like that wouldn't have given her good grades. And grades were something important to her... and her mom.

Furthermore, it took a lot of self control to not grab every book off of the shelf and read them all. Because she had no control over herself in bookstores and in book type situations. It was a weird personality quirk, and one that annoyed her brother to no end. Because they would go to a bookstore and she would walk out with more books than her arms could carry. He always rolled his eyes at this. But whatever.

She also wanted to work on her essay in here. Because she needed to get this thing done. It was due in like three days and she never started yet. Which meant that she had a lot of work to do. So she was probably going to stay here all day. Not that Caelen really minded.

This boy was rapidly impressing Justine, not just with his language skills, and his friendliness, but with his well mannered demeanor as well. Justine listened intently as the boy spoke about having been to Paris, before adding that he wanted to eventually move to Bourgogne, it was a lovely thought, and she could certainly understand, it was a beautiful place. "What a lovely idea, I'm sure you would be very 'appy zere," She said, with a small smile, leaning her elbow on the bookshelf as she spoke.
"Zere's so much to do in Paris, even if you live sere, you can never do everyzing," She added, thinking of all the things she most of her home; the cafes, the art and most dear of all to her the bookstores.

"Oh! I am sure it is!" She said, laughing full hearted as she replied. Justine had completely forgotten they were in library and was speaking a bit louder than was wise, but she hardly noticed, she was rather absent-minded in that way.
She wanted very much to tease the young man about his slightly awkward answer, Justine thought better of it, she didn't know him that well yet after all.

"It is just, so different, It's a, 'ow you say? A cultural shock, I suppose," Justine said thoughtfully, not sure how to really answer the question, so far she had liked Hogwarts well enough, it was just that she had been feeling so lonely, it took precedence over the rest. "I like 'Ogwarts very much, the Professors are very kind and the school itself is wonderful," She said, unable to keep the slight hesitation from her voice.

Louis smiled at Justine’s encouragement, and when she spoke of all the things there were to do in Paris, he nodded in agreement. “It’s quite an enchanting experience to be there.” He could tell she was really very fond of her home city; she must’ve missed it tremendously. “Next time I go I’ll make sure to ask you for a list of activities and places to visit so I can make the best of my trip,” he added.

Lou seemed a bit confused at first, when Justine just burst out laughing at his awkwardness. Aw c’mon, his hopelessness wasn’t that amusing was it? But he wasn’t offended, and soon found himself laughing along with her.

After the laughter died out, Louis listened as Justin explained how much she was enjoying Hogwarts, despite the ‘culture shock’. He could tell she wasn’t as thrilled as she hoped to sound, and almost felt personally responsible for improving her experience. “How about we make a deal? I can offer to show you around all the fun little places in the castle, and in exchange you can help me practice my French.” Which his mother would so very much appreciate.

"In my opinion, zhere is no better city, no better place, zhan Paris," Justine said wistfully, she hoped she might be able to visit it soon, but with things in her family being so convoluted she doubted it.
"Oui! I would love to! I would make you a list at least five parchments long!" She said, mildly laughing at her own exuberance, she was already writing the list in her mind. The Louvre, that beautiful little café near the Shakespeare and Co. Yes, she would write up a fine list for Louis.

Justine's eyebrows arched as she listened with curiosity as Louis offered her "a deal," at the end of his sentence the young girl was practically vibrating with her excitement, to be asked to help him with French would have been pleasant enough, add in being showed the sights of the castle and Justine could barely contain her joy.
"Oh oui, s'il vous plaît! Can we get started now?" Justine asked, so eager that she had taken the boy by the hand was already dragging him through the library bookshelves without waiting for a reply.

Maybe her year would be a good one after all.

Louis had a very difficult time keeping a straight face as Justine went on about the beauty of Paris. He felt this was the perfect to moment to joke about Parisians’ fame for being overwhelmingly self-rewarding, but decided best not to. He didn’t want to offend the girl and he didn’t know her well enough yet to start making lame jokes that a friend would normally let him get away with. “I’ll be looking forward to that list. Five parchments is too much baggage, though; why not write me a small, easy-to-carry book?” he teased. No, but seriously speaking, he totally wanted some tips on places to visit. His grandmother, bless her soul, wasn’t exactly the best tour guide.

And then Justine made of him a rag doll, taking his hand and dragging him out of the library. Louis was nearly flying in the air like a kite. “Whoa— alright,” he laughed lightly as she dragged him out back into the fourth floor corridor. RIGHT. So he had to be a tour guide now. Yeah, he hadn’t planned that out very much in the last five seconds since he thought of the idea, so his mind went blank.

When he first came to the castle, which was the place that most impressed him?
The grounds. Definitely the grounds.

“C’mon, I think I know where to start.” Louis offered the girl his hand with a friendly smile. This time she’d be the kite.

Temporary. Yeah, more like very temporary.

Like a few hours temporary. That was how long it had lasted and he had looked semi-normal. His hair having long gone back to gray, Benny didn't see much use to the spell they had been introduced to in charms class but they had to do the homework with it so for now it was the task at hand. The Gryffindor slipped quietly into the library and made his way to one of the desks within the stalks of the main collection. He had arranged to meet with Adi here given it was halfway between their two common rooms limiting their movements.

They really needed a better way to help the pain.

Finding an empty spot suitable for the two of them, he took a seat with a grunt and set out his notes and wand as he waited for his friend. His hand absently moving to rub his leg and knee to get some ease to the discomfort.

It was a good day to do homework. And Adi was indeed on his way to get one of them done. Charms. And even if the spell he was going to practice let his hair be temporary black, he'd take it. Black hair for a short period of time was better than gray hair for loooooong periods of time.

The Badger finally arrived and easily found Benny who was seated and waiting for him. Adi wondered if he should sneak up on his friend. Nah. Didn't want the old boy to have a heart attack. So, he just greeted him normally. "Hello, Benny.'' He plopped down into the seat opposite. "How's it going? Ready to get to practicing? You can try the spell on me first.'' Yes, please. Because Adi wanted this silly gray hair gone as soon as possible.

Tricksy Hobbitses

The annoyance. That's what brought her here. The annoyance of this whole old person thing. Because it was annoying to her. And she had her reasons.

First of all, she felt like the only one who wasn't old anymore. there were others, she saw them once in a while, but EVERYONE else seemed old now. Even the professors. How could you keep a school going if you had an entire student body of elders? It would be impossible. And really weird. And she actually felt weird not being old. It was like the kids who somehow weren't infected by the whatever something were the majority now. They all banded together and were probably talking about old people stuff, like aches and pains and what heart medications didn't give you gas. Gross.

And secondly, what happened when everyone got too old? Did the laws of aging still apply here? Where really bad things going to happen? She didn't want really bad things to be happening here. This was supposed to be a fun and zany place. Caelen was kind of scared for all of the old people.

And the one professor was right, again. A bunch of little old people DID look reeeeaaally creepy. Uggh

So the redhead searched the bookshelves up and down to look for something about aging spells or aging potions. Wait, potions books!

Finding one, the small girl quickly took it down and flipped through it until she found the aging potion. Practically breathless, she read the whole description, thinking to herself on how they could've done this. She was annoyed enough to take action. The Ravenclaw was now annoyed enough to play detective like she saw on all of her television shows from a whiiiiiiiiillle ago.

Temporary. And green. But this wasn't temporary. This was apparently becoming permanent, as witnessed by the several hundred old sixteen year olds running around the school! But still. She had to talk to the potions professor because she miiiight be onto something. Or at least Caelen thought she was.

Benny looked up when he heard his name, managing a smile for the Hufflepuff who was using it. Maybe it was the cheerful nature of his friend that helped him momentarily get past his own grumpiness. "Hey," he greeted before shrugging. "Its going alright...but I'm definitely ready to start practicing." Hopefully the practice would prove beneficial for the both of them. He simply nodded when he was offered the ability to go first.

Wait, what was that spell?

There had been two they had worked with. The one with the hair, the one they were supposed to do their homework with had been the second one. The Gryffindor dug through his notices for the last class, finally finding it among his scribbles. Senectus Reversus...that was it. Good thing he had his notes on him to check it out cause his memory was floundering these days. Picking up his wand once more, he took a deep breath and prepared to cast.

One...two...three...

"Senectus Reversus..." he said, speaking the incantation clearly as he made the requisite circular motion above his friend's head. Here's to hoping it worked again.

"Alright. Whenever you're ready,''
Adi said. His black hair would be back finally! That is, if Benny got the spell right. And Adi hoped he did. Not only because he wanted his right hair colour but because Benny was his best friend and he would feel bad for the other boy if he didn't get it right.

The Puffer watched as Benny went through his notes no doubt refreshing his memory on the incantation and wand movement.

Finally, Benny was ready to have a shot at the spell. Adi waited with bated breath. Would it work? Would he have his black hair back? Had Benny brought a mirror along? Because Adi sure hadn't.

Letting the magic take effect, Benny was soon greeted with the salt and pepper hair of his best friend. So it wasn't a complete failure but it wasn't a complete success. "It sorta worked," he said, telling Adi what had happened. "Probably should have thought to bring a mirror to show each other." Otherwise it was just being told for now until one could look in one properly. Well the Hufflepuff did have the occasional long strand of hair ...at least that were black...maybe he could look there.

Now to see what was wrong.

He had pronounced it right, in his opinion, and he hadn't mixed up the spells otherwise he would have gotten no results in the hair department and maybe Adi would have fewer wrinkles. "It is Senectus Reversus...right? Or rather Sen-eck-tuss ree-vers-us," he questioned, emphasizing it the second time to work out the pronunciation. And the wand movement had been simple enough that Ben had no way of missing it. The second year practicing the circular motion over the other boy's head harmlessly a few times before lowering his hand and wand and looking at his friend.

"Maybe you should try it on me." Maybe then he'd notice the issue in his work.

Sorta worked? Adi eyed his best friend. Why hadn't they thought to bring a mirror? "My hair's supposed to be black. Black like coal. Jet back. Is it black, Benny?'' Please say yes. Black was a beautiful colour for hair.

He listened to the Gryffindor pronounce the incantation "Sounds right,'' Adi muttered. So why had it "sorta" worked? Maybe Benny hadn't put too much concentration into it. Hmmm.

"Alright. I'll give it a go.''
The Puffer grabbed his wand and waved it over Benny's head in the circular motion. ”Senectus Reversus!'' He watched his friend's head intently. Nothing was happening. Oh wait! Strike that! Some of the gray hairs were fading. That happened for like five seconds then...nothing!

Ugh! Too bad. "Well, at least you have less gray hair, Benny.'' The middle part of his head especially was considerably darker. Cool! Now try the spell on him again.

Ben caught the look sent his way and tried not to roll his eyes as Adi described his hair, or how it was supposed to be. He HAD seen it plenty of times before they both started changing colors. He wasn't that daft. "Some of it is," he admitted with a shrug. "Hence the sort of. It didn't quite work the way it had with the professor and changing all at once, that's all." Not that he fully expected it to work that way really, the older man was far more experienced in it then they were. And his first attempt during the last class had yielded similar results to what he was seeing now.

It could only get better...right?

The Gryffindor braced himself for the other boy's attempt at the spell. The incantation sounded the same and he could only guess that the wand movement was okay since he couldn't see much if anything of it from the angle it was in. They certainly should have brought a mirror. Ben didn't feel any different and in an attempt to see if there had been a change, he took a strand from the clump by his one eye and moved it closer. It didn't seem so, or at least not that much, so again they were taking each other's word for the changes.

"Alright...I'll try again," he said, picking up his wand once more. "Senectus Reversus...Senectus Reversus...Senectus Reversus." He half-murmered, half-spoke the words over and over a bit before taking a nice breath to gather his focus before casting once more.

"Senectus Reversus!" Ben spoke with as much conviction as he could muster, moving his wand like he was supposed to over Adi's head of hair. This time the change was more drastic and he couldn't help but smile. "Definitely better."

Ohh. Goody. At least some of his hair was returning to normal, however temporary it was. Adi nodded enthusiastically at Benny. "Some progress is better than none at all.'' The Dragon would get it completely correct soon, yeah?

Adi grinned as Benny tried to examine his hair. "Can you see any changes? In the middle is more blond so maybe you can try checking from there.'' Adi was pleased with the little progress he was making on Benny's head. "You'll no longer be a gray haired Dragon.'' Though dragons didn't have hair. Hehe.

The Puffer waited eagerly as Benny did the spell ago. Definitely better? Awesome! He grinned. "Too bad we didn't bring a mirror.'' He could hardly wait to see his head. "Let me try to get the rest of your hair blond again.''

"Senectus Reversus!'' And move the wand over Benny's head in the circular motion. Blond hair, where areee you? "Uhh, not much happened on this round,'' Adi reported. "Most of your hair is still gray. Alright, it seemed as if not one strand of your hair changed to blond.'' Hmph.

The Gryffindor echoed his friend's nod, agreeing that at least it was something. Though giving the spell was ultimately temporary already, to have to give so much effort for so little positive effect was hardly productive in this case. They just had to keep trying it seemed. However as much as he himself tried to look at his own hair to see improvement after Adi's spell, Benny wasn't seeing much there either. "There are some," he answered truthfully, moving his hand to try and grab a strand from the more central part of his hair like suggested but nothing was able to be seen real well.

"I would like that very much." His hair was his most outwardly noticable sign of his aging. Too bad about a mirror...another gentle nod of agreement. Hindsight or bad memories were the cause of that oversight, but Ben supposed they would just have to anxiously wait to see the final results. Waiting as Adi tried it again, he had hope for some improvement but the Hufflepuff soon negated that hope saying nothing big had happened. "It sounded like it was fine and should have done something." This was getting just a little frustrating.

"Maybe we should focus on a specific area rather then try to do it all at once." Like one side versus the other. It could be that a centralized focus would work better. To demonstrate his suggestion, Ben turned his full attention to his friend's right side and aimed there before casting. "Senectus Reversus!'' With it he used the same required wand movement as before just circulated over the one side not the entire head and it certainly seemed like it had a positive outcome.

Good, good. Adi was pleased Benny could at least see some of his newly restored temporary hair. When the spell wore out he could always cast it again.

..............
Adi was rather disappointed at his next attempt. Nothing seemed to have changed on Benny's head. Or even if some of the hairs did change, it would have to be only a few for him not to notice. "I know I said the incantation right,'' he agreed. The wand movement was correct, too. Maybe it was because he had not put in much concentration? Alec and Tessa had told him concentration was key to performing a spell. Oh well. He'd just have to try again.

"That's a good suggestion,'' the Puffer said with a nod. But he was being stubborn and he wanted it to work all at once just like Fuller's had in class. He decided if it didn't work like that this time he would go with Benny's suggestion. In the meanwhile, he waited patiently as his friend tried the spell again. "Did it work?'' he asked curiously.

................
And now it was his turn once more. "Senectus Reversus!'', he exclaimed as he moved the wand in a circular motion over the Lion's head. He made sure he concentrated properly and this paid off instantly for Adi could see the changes. Benny's hair was changing. The dead looking gray colour vanished and was replaced by a healthy looking colour that was dirty blond. It was like watching something spring back to life. Yay! He had done it! "Benny! Your head is all blond again.'' The Puffer grinned proudly, pleased with his work.

WHOOOOOO. Reading was fuuuuuun.

Happily, Lux made her way along the different aisles of bookshelves in the library, trying to find something new for her to read. Currently, she was in the mystery section. Maybe a nice change from her usual genres was needed. But what was a good option? Should she ask Mr. Kitridge if she could not find one of her own? Probably, since he was the librarian and hopefully had read some of them.

Seeing a title that caught her interest, the girl picked the book up off of the shelf and read the back.
