The Badgers sit under a brand new gold and black banner representing their house. Their solid, shiny wooden table is nicely polished with all the place settings perfectly set. The food will arrive after the Headmistress' traditional start-of-term speech. To all Hufflepuffs, both new and old: welcome to Hogwarts!

SPOILER!!: BOOK BOY
As he turned, the boy hopped down and wouldn't you know it, he landed on Ian's foot. The response was immediate and violent. Yeaowww!!!!! He stood up and in the process his body made contact with the other boy's. He heard the boy's derogatory statements and mumbled a reply. smarts aren't always about what you learn from books. And being a Huffie is a source of pride for me. Too bad you couldn't follow your brother into the house. Perhaps you'd have learned a bit about being polite
Bart heard him yell and should feel bad but he really didn’t. His grin proved otherwise. He wasn’t at all sorry after the punch in the face from the boy at the bookstore. “I wasn’t aware you knew anything that wasn’t out of a book, because it seemed this summer that’s all you did was sit in a corner and read.” and was he just saying Wade was smarter than him, huh. If book boy would meet Wade’s girlfriend he would know that Wade wasn’t smart in all areas. “He’s my step brother and I am polite to people that deserve it, you do not deserve it.” He moved away from the boy, but turned and smirked “How’s the nose?” He had gotten a good punch in too this summer he didn’t forget.
SPOILER!!: Adi
Adi watched as a kid (Bart) he never saw before approach the Puff table and slammed a jar of pickles on it. What's with the pickles, he wondered quite forgetting Wade was fond of the thing until the boy mentioned him. Wade had a step brother? Adi never knew. "Hey!'' he called to the kid and waving. "First year?''
Bart looked at someone who had said hey. If it was someone that was going to blame him for hurting this kid he wasn’t going to go down quietly. All he did was jump off the chair he didn’t realize the book boy’s big clown foot was there, but he was waving so Bart moved closer to him. “Nah I’m a second year. Transferred from Urelic. Bart’s the name.” He wondered if he should be seen over here what if Alexa got mad and then he wouldn’t be cool anymore.
SPOILER!!: Alec
Hey you puffers? ... What...?
Alec looked up over at the Fox boy -- yeah, he remembered that incident -- who was STANDING on a bench. Was that safe...? What if he fell over? The seventh year glanced over at his girlfriend to try and see how she was reacting to this before looking back. Okay, maybe there was no need to worry. He was going to be okay, right? Yeah. Sure.
... DID HE JUST SAY WADE?! And step brother?!
Yeah, Alec was listening. And watching intently as the boy slammed a big jar of pickles down on the table. Wade had let them have that? That... was really nice of His Royal Curliness. Trust the guy to leave them pickles. ... Pickles. Maybe the house could have something pickle based on Wade's birthday. The Head Boy was going to propose this idea to at least one person. Nodnod.
But the boy. "Hey! Erm... excuse me?" What was his name? "Did you just say... that you're Wade's step brother?" How had the two been friends for so long and this hadn't been mentioned before?
And another talker, yep he knew exactly what Mo was saying now. Turning he saw the badge. “Cool you took his spot as head boy.” Was he as cool as Wade, but wait Bart stared for a second. “You are that seeker. I saw you play. I came to a match when I was suspended from school. You were awesome.” Was he fanboying, maybe a bit but this was the seeker that one that match. He was super good probably better than any of the ones at his old school. “Yep I’m Wade’s step brother or at least I will be once our parents get married soon.” He glared a bit at this still not thrilled his mum would marry Charely, but he assumed now that the twins were around it was going to happen. “I’m Bart”
Cara felt just as nervous as the first years as she made her way to the Hufflepuff table. She spotted her cousin talking to some Slytherins, which didn't seem very surpising. "Hello," she greeted the table, no one in particular.
Just as he went to turn he heard someone (Annaleecia) speak again. Wow this table was friendly he was beginning to see what Wade meant by hugs and hair ruffles and what Mo meant by not all houses were like that. He gave the girl a look. She seemed girly so possibly one of the weirder ones, but maybe not he smiled back “Sup.. I’m Bart.” cue the cool boy nod.
"Nice to meet you Bart." She gave a small nod and smiled at him, "So, is it your first year here as well?" Maybe she and Mel weren’t the only two that came here later than their first year… After all, he didn’t look younger than her, so maybe someone else who could relate to them? Everyone else she’d met had been there since their first year and it made her feel a little left out.
SPOILER!!: Kace

He even saw her reaction to when he said they were friends. He found it adorable and asked, "What are we doing, a little dance here?" he asked her but he wasn't teasing of course. Kace liked to dance.
She gave a small laugh, "Is that what you want to do after this? Become a teacher?" She didn’t really care for the idea but then… she didn’t know what she wanted to do at all. She just thought she was too young for that. To try to sit there and seriously think what she wanted to do.
Anna blushed slightly and stopped, knowing he was joking back it was still embarrassing. She needed to remember one of her reasons of being here was to gain control over her randomness, both with magic and herself. "I um… Sorry…" She looked down with a small smile, not sure what to really say.
SPOILER!!: Marigold
Marigold eyed the girl, still smiling. So she was a first year too... meaning she hadn't been here before. "Are you a transfer from Beauxbatons? Or Durmstrang, or maybe Salem?" Those were the only other magical schools she knew, though she made a mental note to ask Mitchell where he went to school.
"Oh well actually…" She sighed and looked down slightly, "I’m transferring from a muggle school." She gave a small nod, "I know it seems odd, but a lack of money just made it impossible… I mean, I learned a couple things from my friend’s parents but that’s about it." She looked down with a small blush.

"Your secret is safe with me, no need to worry about that. I truly am sorry you had to deal with that. No wonder you see magic as an issue that needs fixing. That couldn't farther from the truth you know. And don't worry about not having enough money. People are always leaving things in the lost and found. My cousin-... I mean Healer Tillstorm will let you take what you need from there. You wouldn't believe some of the thing people forget about here."
*Romulus himself had found a very nice journal that bites anyone but the owner. Great for privacy that was for sure. But he knew for a fact the once people were done with books or robes didn't fit any more people would just leave them in the dorms for the elves to take care of. He had done it himself a few times. He also passed over when she voiced her hopes that once her magic was under control they would take her back. Sadly this was not very likely but he wasn't going to dash her hopes away. They very well could for all he knew.*
"Russia? Wow that is a bit far. Where are you from then anyways?"
She looked down as he was taking a while to respond it seemed but she gave a grateful smile as he said he wouldn’t tell, "Thank you so much." She nodded and smiled at him, "I really do appreciate it. I just… It’s hard to think I’ll seem normal, everyone else here has their happy family or at least it seems that way… I just don’t want to be the odd one out." That made sense right? Kind of? Surely it wasn’t that odd for a girl to not want to be the odd one out for not having a family, or being pitied or it.
She listened to him as he offered some advice of how to help afford to pay for school. Anna couldn’t help but smile at him, he actually seemed to care, "I’ll keep it in mind if I need it." She nodded, clearly grateful for the hints of how to save money… As for the magic she gave a small nod again, "Well, I don’t hate magic for this… I love the idea of it. I just… I just wish it didn’t cost me my family." And again, she had to make sense with that right?
"Well, my parents are from Russia actually… but my father’s job moved him to Turkey." She nodded and looked at him, "But after a year of living there the magic came around and I went right back…" She looked down, it was difficult to talk about, "So… Yeah, they sent us back hoping we’d never find a way back to them, but with my friend and her Mom being witches, we got to go there every now and again… Like I said, I was able to talk them into taking my sister back, but now I’m not allowed to see her." She sighed.
Look who finally decided to arrive. A little bit late on time but here nonetheless. It wasn't like she was late or anything or had missed anything. On the contrary nothing exciting had happened... yet. But she looked distracted. Looking all over the place. Or so it seemed.
"Hey, what's up, bud?" Tag asked the Hogwartian as soon as she took her seat. And yes, he couldn't resist asking her with that type of question. Heh. Was she looking at or for anyone in particular? Lex wasn't up to any trouble was she? Airey must already be at the staff table, though Tag hadn't checked up on there. Alec was right next to him.
That question. Seriously?? Out of everything he could've said, he had to bring up his flower joke? Nice, it was very nice, sarcasm aside. Know your audience, Tag. Know your audience.
Why, of course, Lottie's head didn't turn to him, her eyes did, she was pretending to look at the staff table still. "Hi, Mr. Unicorn," she said, smirking lightly and giving him one quick wink. There was no pretending to look at the staff table anymore because she actually was looking that way... and that was a pretty big Groundskeeper the Headmistress had, by the way. The Hogwartian didn't even blink. She was staring. Big, scary-looking, Groundskeeper.
Well, that's...
...enough to make her look away from the Professors and back to the Hufflepuff table. That's right, Hufflepuffs, why was Tag here again? He was no Hogwartian like she was, he was a Gryffindor. She eyed him curiously before realizing he was sitting next to Alec. Mystery solved.

"Lotus. Hey!"
Yes, Lottie was lost in thought, but not after her name was called out, and look who it was! "Delilah! Hey!" She gave the girl the most welcoming smile ever given to a Hufflepuff (by Lottie, anyway).
"Looks like we'll be sharing dorms, after all. What are the odds." They all knew the odds. And Lottie had been almost certain Delilah would be joining the yellow ones, lucky for the blonde that the brunette liked her back in Diagon, though. "Did you finally visit the joke shop?" Later that same day? Or later in the summer?

She was looking up at the staff table, though, so... should he wait for her to turn his way and then give her a grin and a frantic wave? Or... should he call out her name...? Would she be able to hear him?
Courage. Here went nothing. "Lottie!" GRIN and WAVE!
Someone else was calling!
Of course. The new Head Boy. The one who made her realize she actually misses Oakey Gunter. The first Hufflepuff she actually liked. Alec Summers. "Hey, Seeker!boy," she said, blowing a kiss at him because they were far away, you see (not really), "Or Head Boy, should I say?"Wink. Wow, he got both the kiss and the wink, that almost never happens.
What were theeeey talking about, though? Shampoo, flowers, lavender, sage... Apollo? Oh, COME ON! One of the sun gods? You're kidding me, Alec Summers.
Also, also, did the Headmistress say NEW History of Magic Professor??? Smirk. Where did Tiberius go? Airey must know, right?
Marigold grinned at Toby's slightly disappointed face once she let go of him. They were hug buddies, 'kay? It was official. Pluuuus he was even MOAR energetic than she was, so... hyper buddies too.
"Never growing up, eh?" Marigold said with a raised eyebrow. That reminded her of childhood stories, like Peter Pan and the lost boys... She should reread that. She was a strict believer of rereading.
YES. Toby had avoided the summer question and therefore, Marigold didn't need to mention the funeral. Yay for Toby!
"I definitely am! I really want to learn more spells and stuff. For me at least, it seems like OWLs are right around the corner, and I need to learn all this stuff! Plus, I like school. What about you?"
"Never. I shall always keep my youthful ways," Tobias said matter-of-factly. How could anyone possibly grow up? Nah, Toby knew what he was doing. Even if he technically got older, he'd still always be a kid.
Once Marigold started talking about what she was hoping for with this new term, Tobias listened avidly and nodded as she spoke. "Oh yeah, I started preparing for OWLs and stuff last year," he replied, still nodding away. And he had been right to start early, 'cause crazy things DID happen, right? Right. Had everything not gone kinda wrong in his second year? Though that may have been due to Tobias working himself so hard he burnt himself out. Not fun. "I'm looking forward to being able to fly again. Even if I don't get on the Quidditch team, I just wanna get back in the air."
All the magic and school stuff too, yeah. But mainly flying. "And just being back here with friends. It's all pretty awesome."

But the words were hardly out of his mouth when Headmistress Truebridge began to speak. That meant fooooood came next! Sure enough, the food appeared shortly. "Dig in, Tobias!'' Adi called. "So, how was your summer?'' Because Adi was genuinely curious to know what his friends had been up to.
Taptaptaptaptapppppp. Even his feet were at it too. C'moooooon food. Once the feast began, there would be something Tobias could focus his energy into. As it was, just sitting here was becoming a sort of torture.
Wait, what?
"Wrong? Uhhh, no, I don't think so," Tobias replied, though was it true? There was nothing majorly wrong, at least. Nothing that was worth talking about, so he carried on grinning as talk moved on to his pogo stick. "'Course I do. Couldn't leave that behind, now could I?" Toby added, a fond look in his eye. Ahhhh the pogo stick.
Wait.
Wait wait... waiiiiiiiiiit.
FOOOOOOOOOOOOD. But where to START.
As Tobias waggled his fingers in front of him, trying to decide what dish to start for first, he heard Adi's other question and looked up. He was quiet for a minute, before giving a half-shrug. "It was okay," Tobias responded............... and left it at that. As he reached out to start helping himself to roast potatoes, Toby went on "What about yours? D'you do anything fun?"

"You trying out for the team this year?" he asked curiously.
Tobias allowed himself a giggle as Kace greeted him again. He almost responded with another 'Hey Kace' just to see how long it would keep up for, but decided against it. Instead, Toby smiled as Kace said about his summer. That really DID sound eventful. Wow. Some people did some really awesome things. Tobias' grandmother just wanted a quiet life these days and Toby was quite happy spending as much time with her as possible.
"That sounds pretty cool," he finally responded, and then his grin widened. "Of course I'm trying out. Wild hippogriffs couldn't keep me away. What about you?"

Ahem.
... Oh. The closed eyes and shaking head thing wasn't a good sign, was it? "Oh! That's really brave of you, man," he said, giving him a clap on the shoulder. When the boy mentioned Professor Starman, the nearly eighteen year old looked up and over at the Staff Table for the Starman himself. "Is he a big pogo fan as well?"
Pogo fan. ... There... were a lot of bad puns that could be made from this. Next time, Tobias, next time.
Toby shrugged with one shoulder, which was actually remarkably difficult when you were using both hands as makeshift drumsticks. "I've been okay," he responded, nodding his head as well before looking up at Alec aagain and BEAMING. QUIIIIIIDDIIIIIIITCH. "Yeah, for sure! I'm super excited. I haven't been able to fly in months."As in, like, since the weekend of their last match. It was like TORTURE.
Oh ho ho. Was the Starman a big pogo fan? "Is he EVER! I taught him how to do it last year, kinda. I reckon he's pretty fond of it," Tobias explained, nodding his head as he spoke, eyes back up on the Astronomy professor. He, of course, didn't realise it, but Toby was starting to develop a lot of similarities to the Starman. "So I let him use my pogo stick every now and then, 'cause I'm nice like that."

SPOILER!!: Messer!
"I was just joking, mate." He chuckled. Tag could come to their table anytime he wants. He's just like an Honorary Hufflepuff. Second home? See. Tag definitely is an Honorary Hufflepuff. Best friend? Oh right. He forgot that Tag and Alec are close.
Wait. WHAT? Tutu Boy? Where did THAT come from?
O_______o
Let's hope no one heard he called him Tutu Boy or his housemate might start calling him that. "Its been a while. I'm good. Excited to be back." Grin. "How are you, Tag? Do you have a nice summer?"
"I know, I know. But I'm pretty much a Hufflepuff." Tag said smiling back. Ok, no, not really. But he did favor Hufflepuffs. So, yes, Messer, that joke was somewhat true. More than best friends, Alec and Tag were. But, that was a lot of stuff that made them close, and probably people could start mistaking Tag as a badger seeing how much time he spent with a few of them.
Yes, TuTu boy. The rumor is going around. Tag merely smirked at his own comment.
"More than 'a while'. Where had you gone? That's good that you're ready for the term." His last year, right? For Messer? Tag wasn't too close with him but he believed he was in Alec's year. Did Tag have a good summer. Heh. "Excellent summer really. Lots of stargazing. A lot of sunshine to go around the entire break." He said smiling. Just pure excellence. "And did you have a good summer too?"
SPOILER!!: Kace!
Kace thought about it and wondered if he had any nicknames. Hmmm...."Well...my mom gives me one called Ace the Kace. Because i used to ace and excel in school and always do my best." he shrugged. He didn't think it was that embarassing to share. "Then Kaiden called me Little quidditch dude and Wade and Alec call me Penguin Kace because of the pajama party we had a while back." he chuckled at the memories from his first year. He missed those times.
"Being hungry makes me sounds like a Gryffindor...?" he asked curiously. "Well i guess because my hunger makes a roaring sound." he said with a little pun in there. "Oh they always have the best food. I agree. I mean it is better than my mom's home cooking sometimes." he told Tag. "What are you planning on having?"
Some more listening and nodding. Ace the Kace was a pretty cool nickname. "Well, I say, Ace the Kace is an ace nickname." Wink. See what he did there? Not the wink, what he said. Nod. "Little quidditch dude. How tall are you? Or short?" Tag was one to talk about tall and short. HAHA. "You guys had a pajama party? Was this just Hufflepuffs, then?" That was a shame.
"It does. Us Gryffindors have a stomach for food like no others." It was a true statement. Even if Tag were to get full he would try to sneak in another bite of food. Then Tag simply laughed at the rather ACE pun that Kace used. What was Tag planning on having? "Everything and anything my hands can touch. Except, if there's anything spicy. My stomach can't handle spicy." Don't give him spicy food.
SPOILER!!: Alec!
Alec did enjoy Tag playing with his hair. He also liked Tag's hair so... he reached over and gave it a quick ruffle. There. This was very important to do and something that was completely normal between the leprechaun and the... Alec. Something else that was normal was talking about their hair care products. "It's one that helps keep it soft. I thought it'd be... useless for the harsh cold," Nodnod. "I think so? Lavender... and sage. And the bottle says Apollo." See? Normal.
Alec... tilted his head, slightly amused at what Tag had to say next. "That sounded quite wise, you know," Quite... only because Alec wasn't sure. He wasn't a wise dude, see. Maybe that was something that needed to be changed this year. ... Yeah, maybe. "I..." GRIN. "Thanks, mate! I don't know how great I am at leading but... I'll give it a go." Trying. Hard. Nodnod.
Chocolate stars were the best, don't question it, Kildare. "Oh... awesome! Anytime, mate!" And then he was struck with... an idea. "Hey, do you think we should add them to the super secret sweets stock?" Because if they were that good, they deserved a spot in that pile, right? Yeah? ... He wanted an excuse to collect gold stars.
"You did brilliantly," Proud best mate right here. "Did my notes help?" His late minute OWLs notes. They had certainly helped him, Alec, when he had done his own OWLs but whether they helped Tag or not... he didn't know. ... NEWTs. The seventh year made a face at the word before saying, "Not looking forward to those."
Oh. And Alec was already playing with Tag's hair. Which he didn't mind too much. As long as he didn't leave it too messy. He took time fixing his hair, whether it be spiky or flat. It was a process. "Alec, my dear friend, no shampoo is useless. It's all useful." Unless it gets in your eyes and burns and singes them. "Apollo? Isn't that some god or something?" Right? A greek god?
Haha. Tag wasn't wise. He was average in intelligence. Though Lottie did say he sounds wise sometimes, but then messes it up with some sort of joke. Two of Tag's favorite Hufflepuffs already calling him wise. He'd take that. "Really, that sounded wise?" Tag asked Alec, simply shrugging at him. "I'm sure you're good at it. And yeah, you kind of do have to 'give it a go'." Tag said laughing a bit. Being a leader and good student and all.
Super sweets. They just weren't sweets. They were super sweets. Much better than the normal sugary stuff. "There's a super sweet stash? If you want to, yeah. You can put the chocolate stars in the stash." It's not like the boy would be complaining, you know.
Yep. Brilliantly. Alec didn't know that Tag had failed a few of them, right? He didn't need to know that. Tag only told him about the passing grades. "Thanks... Oh, the notes? Yeah, they helped a bit." A bit yes. Anything helped really. But, from all his procrastinating he ended up falling asleep on his textbook or getting easily distracted. "Yep. Have fun with all that studying again." He said giving Alec's shoulder another pat.
SPOILER!!: Such recognition Lotus! XD

The joke couldn't be resisted. It was a classic. At least it was better than that time Tag almost called Lottie not a girl. THAT had been a almost bad thing. No more comments about that.
Just a 'Hi, Mr. Unicorn' hmm. Maybe Lottie was distracted by something. Anyway, at least she recognized him. Better than nothing! Oh, but at least he got a little wink. "Yeah, hello. What are you looking at?" Nosy much? He didn't need to know. But, seeing as she was rather quiet at the moment... Yes, Tag was here because of Alec, and you too, Lotus.
And talking about Alec Tag merely watched Lottie greet him. It shouldn't have made him laugh, but he did. This was innocent. But hilarious all at the same time. "Need some privacy?" He simply asked her, and Alec, if he were paying attention.
Was it so bad to think that Tag was waiting for some sort of reaction from Ella? To sit back and wait.

Tessa glanced around her, as if a change was going to happen right in that moment. Nothing looked different, so she returned her gaze to Laura. "What sort of changes?" she inquired. "Sounds like a lot of fun- I can't wait to begin exploring this place," she said, bouncing in her seat slightly. She had been excited anyway- but what Laura was saying really had her ready to explore everything. Perhaps tonight she would do some exploring...
"Sounds like a great plan- I'll meet you on that famous block," she said with a wide grin. After all, she was on the track to being a pro Quidditch player. Nothing was going to stop her from getting to that goal.
Laura was really wanting to go and see the Librarian but well she wasn't going to disturb him whilst he was busy at the staff table so she just sat there thinking about things and half listening to Tessa. "Oh you know the usual." Laura said truthfully. Sometimes things changed "Like the staircases they love to move." Laura thought it was awesome when they moved but sometimes it was scary.
"Oh I'm wanting to be one of the most successful if not the most successful jockey of all times, can you just picture this, me the proud winner of 5,000 races." Laura thought it would be fantastic if it happened but would be really hard to achieve, she was sure it would take something like 40 years or there about but that was her aim anyway.
Laura looked around and saw a few new faces, she knew it was important to talk to them and she decided that she would when they were so busy and it seemed like Ella and Alec where talking so she wouldn't disturb them but she did want to speak to Sophie about the thing they talked about on the train ride home at the end of the last year but it seemed she was busy as well.

"Welcome!" Grin! "Dels it is, then." Though Delilah had a nice flow to it and reminded Ella of a song she'd heard before. Probably too soon to belt that to the new girl, right? ...Right. And look, Dels was coming over and everything. That was nice.
Taking the girl's hand in her own, Ella shook it gently before letting go. "Anytime! It's a really great house, Hufflepuff. I think you'll like it here." At least she hoped so. "What year are you?" Because she definitely wasn't a firstie and transfers had always interested Ella.

"It's a good story, though. I bet we'll look back on this one day and laugh." Did she actually know if she would talk to this kid lots in the future? Nope. She did hope that it would at least earn her a smile, though. Especially after that little incident.
Taking his hand, Ella smiled and shook it gently before releasing it. "Nice to meet you properly, Ian." Because she'd seen him around too but they'd never actually talked, yeah? "Keeping to yourself isn't necessarily bad but it is nice to get out there and meet your housemates." So in a way, she agreed with Tinker boy's mom. "And hey, now you can tell her about meeting me...though I'd leave out the choking bit, yeah?" Grin!

Once again, as with Alec, he missed the whole badge thing. But why should he notice the new one? Since he'd known Ella, she'd been captain, so he'd grown accustomed to the shiny yellow and black badge she wore on her robes and had no reason to look at it whenever he saw her.
Instead, he gave her a little nudge with his elbow to go with his grin. "Oh, y'know. I like to show my face here from time to time."
"Hey, Tobes!" GRIN! It was really good to see him smiling. He had a nice smile, Tobias did. The kind that lit up a room. Plus she was relieved that he didn't look too sad considering Forrest things. Ella was dealing with those too and she knew he was probably a bit sad deep down. Best to keep his spirits up and stuff. She was going to try, anyway.
"Nice of you to grace us all with your presence, then." He got a nudge back too and an amused smile. "Your hair is getting long, y'know. I like it like this." And she set to work pulling at a strand gently, not considering this might be an invasion of space. Just checking out the locks, yo. Nothing to see here.

My grandpa died from dragon pox, so my family had lots of arrangements to do." Funeral arrangements, which happened during the week before school. But Marigold smiled up at Ella. "I might try out for Quidditch this year," she said nervously. She still wasn't sure, but she wanted to see the sport Kace raved about.
Well deserved?
That was really nice of her to say and Ella's cheeks turned a bit pink, not knowing how to respond. She really was rubbish with compliments. "I... thanks, Marigold. That means a lot." She would have shuffled too had she been standing but settled with playing with her hands instead. And then...that happened.
Welp.
That was the problem with asking people about their summers, wasn't it? The not knowing if summers had been good or bad? You hoped it was good, of course, but there was always that chance of a negative response and Ella had gotten one this time. And considering everything going on in her own home, the blonde's face fell a bit. "I'm really sorry to hear that. I...well if you even need to talk I'm around, okay?" But she'd leave it at that. Marigold didn't seem like she wanted to discuss it anyway and Ella was kind of glad about that.
Quidditch? "Really? I'd say definitely try out. You won't regret it." Yup. Quidditch was a yes every single time.

Did you do anything special during that time?''
Quiet summers weren't necessarily bad, yeah? "That's good. Get to go to Diagon Alley at all?" Ella hadn't seen too many of the younger badgers while she was there but she suspected they'd been around. "Special? Um...I interned at Magical Menagerie so that counts, I guess. It was really great." Plus Alec had agreed to keep her company which was a bonus. He'd made the summer special just by being there for her. Mhm.

A good okay. "I hope that's a pinky promise," he said, smiling a little at her. He did like the idea of her being a good okay. It was much better than being frowny or sad or just a simple okay. She didn't snack much on the train? Was... this something to worry about? "I... did you have anything to eat today?" Because observant boyfriend had been observant. Or tried to, at least.
No billywigs! Good. AWESOME. "I'm... really glad it was a prank," Had he been scared about a possible billywig outbreak? Yeah. Nobody needed to know that. "Really? There are a lot of new kids?" They weren't going to be a mischievous bunch, right? As for him... "It was okay. Erm... I think... there was talk about underwear being hung up." Not to mention that someone had his. Cough.
"Yeah, I'll see you there." Sofa, yeah? She was just going to assume so. It'd be nice to get to talk a bit about stuff. Ella wanted to tell him about saying goodbye to Gran and things and she wanted to see how his Dad had been. Truth be told, she was still a little worried Mr. S was cross with her for stealing his son for most of the summer. Worried Ella was worried. Mhm.
"It is." Smile was returned and her pinky wiggled in the air just in case he wasn't buying it. She really did feel okay, better than she'd been the past couple of days, at least. Hogwarts was a distraction. The good kind, of course. As for his question, the blonde tried not to frown. "I had something for breakfast, don't worry." Really, don't. She didn't want to be a burden to anyone.
"Me too!" Because the last thing Ella wanted was a bunch of giddy, levitating children throughout the train. Even if it would be sort of a funny sight."Lots and lots, yeah." Quite a few transfers too, it seemed. It was kind of nice in that there were lots of new people to meet. Ella's eyebrows shot up at the mention of underwear and she smiled a little, head tilted to the side. "That's...different." She had more questions too but she'd save those for later.
...
And then stuff happened. Not anything big or that bad but yeah, enough to make Ella feel uncomfortable so she looked away from Alec all together and settled on piling food on to her plate. It helped that the speech had finished and others seemed occupied doing the same, gave her an excuse to let her smile fade for a little bit. She wasn't hungry now, of course, but it was something to do. Tag's comment, though? ...Yeah. Nice.

Thumbs up? Okay. Ella gave him one back in return and smiled a little. "No problem." Really, it wasn't. "Oh, I gotcha. Makes sense." Kahuna. She was a Head Kahuna. Hm. You learn something new everyday. "Where are you from?"

Tessa cocked her head to the side as Laura described some of the things that happened around the school. "Well, that's going to be a new experience," she said thoughtfully. She couldn't wait to give that one a try. She wondered if anyone had tried surfing down the staircases as they moved... she would have to get a look at them first.
"Well, I wish you luck with that!" She whistled at the title Laura wanted. "5,000 races huh? Well, I'm hoping you'll send me tickets to at least a few of those?" she said with a wide smile.
Hazel was seeing so many people, old and new! She loved it, and just wanted to meet more people. "Hi. I'm Hazel," she said to the girl in front of her. She seemed very nice. A lot of people here are nice. "Are you a firstie? I'm a second year," she added. So much to learn!
"Hi, Hazel. I'm Bri It's nice to meet you" The young girl replied."Yup! I am a first year! I can't wait for the classes to start. " The brunette said happily to the other girl, grinning.
Text Cut: Kace!
Kace chuckled and answered her question. He didn't think it was personal at all. "Yeah he is not a huge fan of magic. I mean he likes it when my mother does it since it is in her blood but other than that....he has got this image in his head we are a normal family but *shrugs* what can you do?" he asked her. "I love it when my mom does magic." Kace smiled. "She can do amazing spells."
"Yeah you are gonna like Astronomy and maybe go to other classes like Potions, Transfiguration, Muggle Studies, Arthimacy and the list goes on..." he said with a smile.
"How about you? Where are you from?" he asked. He felt bad he wasn't asking any questions.
Bri was relieved to know that her question didn't offend Kace. She was trying to make friends, not offend them. "My dad is the opposite. He laughs magic, he always is reading books about wizards, and watching movies. I think he is a bit jealous, that I get to learn how to do it, and my mom is just happy for me." Bri said smiling
Bri listened as he listed off some of the subjects, she had somewhat of an idea about them, she started to read some of her school books before arriving, to get an idea. " I think I might do alright in Muggle Studies." Bri said with a giggle
"I live in Scarborough in North Yorkshire." Bri said happily "I've lived there my entire live. And you?" Bri asked
Text Cut: Marigold!
"No problem!" Marigold said. She just wished she actually stopped to... smell the roses, per se. She remembered knowing nearly nothing her first year, so she turned to ask the younger girl, "Do you know what classes you are interested in?"
Bri thought for a second. "Is it weird if I said all of them? I read a bit on each before I came here. They are seem pretty neat, though some sound pretty hard." Bri replied.
Text Cut: Adi!
Awesome! Adi was thrilled Bri felt the same way as he had when he first saw the Castle too. But about everyone being nice...should he warn her that she might run into one or two persons who were the opposite of that? He glanced in the direction of the Slytherin table, scanning it for Hannah. Should he spoil Bri's enthusiasm? Maybe just caution her. "Just keep your eyes out for any not so nice persons,'' he said with a wink. Classes! He could hardly wait to get back to them! ''Which class are you looking forward to most?''
Bri nodded "Thanks for the advice." She said with a little sigh, hoping that she didn't meet too many mean students, though she that it was quite possible.
"I am actually not sure. I was reading some of the text books before coming to Hogwarts, and they all seem very interesting. Though may of them sound quite difficult." Bri said. She hopes that she does all right, and not make a fool out of herself.
Text Cut: Alec!
This... was something Alec liked to see. The excitement was great and what was even greater was the way this girl -- firstie, yeah? -- was so... good at talking to someone who was years older. Maybe he really wasn't the scary one. Even Astrid thought he wasn't.
Oh, hey! She was a muggleborn! "Did someone come to tell you about magic?" And she wanted to learn everything! Alec... was impressed. Were first years always this excited and eager to learn? Had he been this way when he was a first year? ... He... needed to ask someone about that.
Too hard? The classes? Alec looked past her and over towards the staff table. What was he meant to say? "Some are really great and can come easily and others..." He looked back at her and smiled a little. "... not so much. But... everyone finds one subject or another difficult, yeah? Try as hard as you can and you'll be great." Was that useful advice?
Bri grinned. "Yup, somebody, I forgot their name though," Bri blushed slightly, she was usually real good with names, but with all of the excitement of the last few weeks... "A lot of weird things happened around me when I was about 7, and no one could explain why, until that day." Bri said, "It was actually a big relief when it was explained to my family and me what was happening." The brunette said.
Bri listened to the advice that Alec was giving her. She nodded " Thank you! That makes sense, it's like when I went to my old school. I was real good at some of the subjects, so they were easy for me, but some of the subject were harder." Bri grinned.
"I don't know much on the normal side of things. I'm the Dumbo of Hogwarts... and truthfully parents are over rated. The last time I saw my parents was... September first... three years ago. My parents didn't even walk me to the platform. Dropped me off in front of Kings Cross and the driver had to remind them to tell me goodbye. I get shuffled around from family member to family member."
*It was now his turn to look away and look down. He still had his parents and they didn't even want to be around him.*
"I guess what I am trying to say is that... magic is cool and stuff. I don't know much about your parents but if they could just do that to you and your sister... well it's on them not you. You having magic is not the problem... At least that is what my brother would say. And you would be surprised how many muggle borns become orphans because their parents don't understand what is happening to their kids."

"I live in Scarborough in North Yorkshire." Bri said happily "I've lived there my entire live. And you?" Bri asked
Kace nodded and was glad his parents approved. His mother had to get him to approve of Kace to go. Even his grandmother chipped in. So he thanked them both. Kace liked this school much better than his older one, but he did like the sports option but Quidditch was better.
"I love muggle studies because it teaches you concepts from a Wizarding perspective." he said being the nerd he was. Oh so she lived in England, around here. He grinned and said, "Well i am from Kansas in the United States. I am not from around here." he shrugged and grinned.

Kace chuckled at the pun on words. "Hey i see what you did there. That was very punny." he said laughing some more. They were making bad jokes but it was fun to do. "Oh well i am growing i know that. I have grown since my first year. At least....i hope so!" he said chuckling. "But i think i did because some people noticed." he shrugged innocently.
"Yeah the pajama party was just for the puffs team. We had ice cream and everything. I loved it." he smiled. He was the one for sweets and cookies and everything under the sun sugar related.
Kace eyebrows raised. He didn't like spicy food. That was new to him. "Oh well my dad is a HUGE spicy food eater. He LOVES that stuff. So i am quite used to it by now. But my mom is a huge italian food eater so i get plenty of that type of food type." he nodded. "But i am craving some ribs and steak..." he said noticing his out west personality was coming out.

"Oh no no there is more professions you can do." he said correcting Anna. "Well you can work for the Ministry of Magic and work in different departments like in creatures and such." he said giving an example. "But you don't have to worry about that yet." he assured her.
"Aww it is fine." he assured her. She still seemed embarassed and then he noticed food on the table. "Here let's go eat something..." he said taking her hand for her to sit down.

Then he noticed Adi and saw him walking over to him. He did make a valid point about Divination but Kace still found it fun because the professor was so nice. "Eh maybe..." he winked at Adi. He knew it was a joke and his parents kept warning him too. "I mean my parents warn me but you know us boys. We never really listen to our parents." he chuckled and saying the honest truth.
He then leaned a little bit closer and asked quietly, "Have you seen your crush yet?"
Marigold grinned at the first year. "Hi Leah! Nice to meet you too," she said, taking a moment to notice how the girl looked a bit scared. That fact was confirmed a moment later, when Leah said something about getting nervous. "No problem! I love meeting new people. Plus, I get that it can be overwhelming. Believe it or not, I was very scared my first feast, too."
Leah always found comfort when older students said that they felt the same way when they were firsties. Sometimes she couldn't help but feeling that she was the weird one. "Can I call you Mari? It sounds nice and short, you know." Leah asked, feeling much better.

It seemed like the best thing to say, even though in Toby's eyes no one house was better than the others. It was just that the Hufflepuff common room was right by the kitchens. Right by the food. Very handy. "How're you liking Hogwarts?"
Even as he spoke, the third year continued drumming his hands on the table. Gotta keep moving, after all.
Leah waved back at Tobias, registering his name and face into her mind at the same time. "Hiya Toby. Thanks for the congratulations." That was not the first time a Hufflepuff said that to her.
So… She really wasn’t alone there? She fought back a smile, mainly because she saw that he was upset, "I… I’m so sorry to hear that…" She looked over at him and gave a slight frown, "I mean… it’s horrid." But she’d be lying if it didn’t feel nice to know she wasn’t the only one who was just tossed to the side by loved ones. She stood up quickly, and went to his side giving him a quick hug. It didn’t do much, but she knew when she was upset, it always seemed to help.
She nodded to what he said, "Like I said, I do actually like having it. It’s pretty neat to have… but it’s just odd, not having a family to go home to." Anna nodded slightly, "I mean, not having my sister around anymore after five years of me being the one to raise her…" And another nod as he continued, "Well, I think what has them so scared is the idea of me not having any control over it…" Which was exactly why she hoped after her years here she’ll have that control.

"Aww it is fine." he assured her. She still seemed embarassed and then he noticed food on the table. "Here let's go eat something..." he said taking her hand for her to sit down.
She nodded, "Well, I figured that." She gave a small laugh, "I meant for you, is teaching you think you’d like to have as a job in the future?" Annaleecia nodded and looked up at him, "But as for me… I’m not sure honestly, but I couldn’t see me being a teacher." She shook her head.
She fought a blush as he took her hand. She felt those stupid butterflies in her stomach again but she nodded and took a seat beside him, just grabbing a glass of water, not really sure what she wanted to eat out of everything.

Though she did not regret doing so, as she had the best friends in the world. Walking along the table, she tried to find a place where she could sit.
Marigold looked at the new arrival.. Ohhai new person. Marigold waved her over once she saw that the girl couldn't find a seat. Scooting over on the bench, she hoped the new girl would sit.
"Hi. I'm Marigold," she said as a way of introduction and breaking the ice. Woop. Go awkwardness.

Marigold grinned at the older boy. It was very chaotic, wasn't it? She wondered how he was doing in all this chaos in a new school. "So, have you met any other people?"

Oh. Marigold blushed and wished she hadn't asked. Not because she didn't care, but because she didn't want to make Annalee feel uncomfortable. But the other girl just kept talking. "Oh," Marigold said out loud. She never even thought about it, but... Hogwarts must have been expensive. Her father had a fulltime Ministry job, and her mother worked at a daycare, and its not like they were millionaires or anything, but... she still felt bad.

"We all have to grow up, except Toby here," Marigold said, miming an interview. "He just decided to stay a kid forever. Now, onto further news..." She cut off with a giggle, then stopped. She made a mental note to give Toby a present. And maybe a cupcake or something?
"Last year? You're crazy, man," she said in response to his OWLs prep. Geez, was she behind on her studies? Oopsie daisy.
"Quidditch does seem to make up your life mostly, doesn't it?" she asked with a smile.

Marigold smiled and actually hugged Ella when she got all bashful. D'AAWWWW, she was years older but still cute, okay? Letting go, she smiled at her. Ella was the best Head Girl, Marigold decided.
"Thanks Ella. I'm kind of working out his death on my own, but I really appreciate the offer." She paused for a second, then grinned. "But we should hang out this term, okay? I really want to."
Marigold was glad that she was encouraging the Quidditch try outs. "I just figured I would try, right? No harm in trying out," she said with a grin.

"Of course you can call me Mari. I have lots of nicknames, actually. That's a rather tame one." She eyed Mitchell over at the other table. She was glad that Leah seemed more comfortable with talking. She also seemed a lot less nervous.
*When she got up he thought that maybe she was leaving. He was little confused but then his confusion turned even stronger when she came around and hugged him. His body went stiff and he turned a little pale. Romulus was never one for hugs, mostly because his family did not hug much. The closest thing he would get to hugs was Jacen putting him in a head lock. Once she had stopped the hug he cleared his throat and nodded a thanks. *
"I guess I can understand a bit about missing a sibling I guess. He may be a total git but I do care about my older brother Jacen..."
"No problem!" Marigold said. She just wished she actually stopped to... smell the roses, per se. She remembered knowing nearly nothing her first year, so she turned to ask the younger girl, "Do you know what classes you are interested in?"
Marigold smiled at the second year. She seemed like she was still testing the grounds of Hogwarts almost. "Very hungry, eh? You didn't eat at all on the train ride here?" she asked curiously.
Marigold smiled REALLY BIG at this one. She liked Ella. She was super sweet, PLUS she was Head Girl. "Well deserved," she said, referencing the head badge again. "Nice to see you too! How have you been? I haven't seen you in a while." Then came the currently dreaded question: How was your summer? Marigold sighed as she answered. "It was pretty bad, actually.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OHHEY KACE. Marigold ran over and hugged her friend. She missed him, okay? Not like Mitchell. YaY for hugs!
"No, I didn't eat anything. I ate before the train left, but apparently I miscalculated." Hazel laughed. "Did you have anything?" She assumed that Mari did based on the fact that she hadn't heard her say she was hungry yet. It was nice to be able to talk to many people. It was a skill Hazel had all the time. Except that time first talking to Sander. That was weird, but she was weird. So it wasn't weird, but she still was.
SPOILER!!: Adi
His summer news came in second to a Head Boy Badge. Sure he was excited about telling Alec about his guitar lessons but that was for later. "Is that why you look kind of nervous?'' he asked as he returned the fist bump. "Cos you've got the Badge?'' But why worry? He was Super Alec!
Awesome! Adi was thrilled Bri felt the same way as he had when he first saw the Castle too. But about everyone being nice...should he warn her that she might run into one or two persons who were the opposite of that? He glanced in the direction of the Slytherin table, scanning it for Hannah. Should he spoil Bri's enthusiasm? Maybe just caution her. "Just keep your eyes out for any not so nice persons,'' he said with a wink. Classes! He could hardly wait to get back to them! ''Which class are you looking forward to most?''
Why was Tobias no so hyper as usual? Besides him self, Tobias was the only one Adi knew could really be hyper. "Something wrong?'' Adi called, waving back. "Got your pogo stick this year?'' Speaking of food! It looked like he and the third year were in the same boat. "Same here. I think I'll starve soon,'' he kidded. But the words were hardly out of his mouth when Headmistress Truebridge began to speak. That meant fooooood came next! Sure enough, the food appeared shortly. "Dig in, Tobias!'' Adi called. "So, how was your summer?'' Because Adi was genuinely curious to know what his friends had been up to.
Adi grinned at Kace. "The lesson with the beards was the most epic one. But I really don't believe in all those stuff. Same with Divination. They sound so...made up, if you know what I mean. Guess work.'' He supposed he would just go along with guessing at the subjects for the entire year. "Well, I know what you mean. Maybe someday you just might get fat.'' Hehe. That was a joke.
Yeow! What a high five that was! Adi's hand stung a little and even Leah's it seemed. She was rubbing her hand. "Oops. Sorry about that, Leah. I get a little over excited sometimes.'' He smiled sheepishly. "Oh those are the Head Boy and Head Girl. Isn't it so cool both of them are Puffers? You'll see others have badges too. Their either prefects or Quidditch Captains.''
Adi watched as a kid (Bart) he never saw before approach the Puff table and slammed a jar of pickles on it. What's with the pickles, he wondered quite forgetting Wade was fond of the thing until the boy mentioned him. Wade had a step brother? Adi never knew. "Hey!'' he called to the kid and waving. "First year?''
The second year had not missed Dylan's startled response. He grinned. "You afraid of something, Dylan?'' Like an jar full of ink? Hehe. "I sure did! Hopefully soon I can be playing a song or two!'' He was pretty much excited by that thought.
Adi broke off into laughter when he heard what Hazel call him. "Nonono, It's quite funny,'' he managed to say between breath and laughter. Calming down now, he returned to their talk of food. "I've never had french crepes but I do love fish and chips! Did I ever tell you I won a pie eating contest?''
Awesome! Adi figured Jordan's "yeah" was a reply to both of his questions. "It's not a monster,'' he told the first year. "It's just the Giant Squid and he isn't that bad. I sure would like to meet him!'' Won't that be epic?
Adi noticed how Ian answered with "aye" just like Benjamin had done at King's Cross. And Adi just had to ask the ridiculous question again as he had done to Ben. "Are you secretly a pirate?'' Oh he was shy? "Well you don't seem to be much of a shy one now.'' Which was good as he was interacting with others from what Adi could see. "I'm all set! Can't wait to get back to classes actually.''
Ella didn't look nervous like Alec. Which was good because he knew she would do a brilliant job. "It is,'' the second year agreed. Speaking of which, this was Alec's and Ella's final term. Meh. He hadn't remembered that until now. Ah well. There was still time until that dreaded moment arrived. "I'm good,too! My summer was quiet but I had a good time. Did you do anything special during that time?''
Hazel was relieved Adi liked his nickname. It wasn't much of a nickname, for it was based off of his nickname and it was really long. "French crepes are really good! You should try them some time!" He should try them. They were so good... Nope! Can't think about food! "Wow, you're a pie-eating-contest winner?" For some reason, she couldn't imagine him eating pies in a contest. But she could imagine him winning. "Did you know that I won the nonexistent watermelon eating contest?" Watermelons were 3% away from being a cloud. Hazel liked watermelons. And clouds.
....and then his attention was drawn to Hazel who was now sounding more confident.
"Okay. I get it. I guess the talking part is to allow new students to meet others and for the other students to catch up with their own friends. I'm definitely looking forward to the eating part. I hope they don't let us talk too much." Sander winked at the younger girl.
Sander belatedly realized that he was grasping Adi's hand harder than he should and quickly released. "Sorry man, I didn't mean to shake your hand that hard. It's just the way I'm used to doing it. You have a pretty strong grip yourself." Sander grinned back at the younger boy.
Then he listened as Adi told him what the students usually did for fun. Quidditch? Sounds like everyone likes it.....except me. So scratch that for fun. I'll stick to ice hockey. Gobstones? Now that was something he hadn't played before. Maybe he would think about observing a game just to see whether he would like playing that....if he needed a break from his main game.
....and yes here was the why did you transfer? Sander was actually getting used to answering that question by now.
"Where? I transferred from Durmstrang. Why? Because my father wanted me to do something I wanted to do and he didn't want me to do what I wanted. So he sent me here hoping that I would change me mind." there simple and straight to the point.
Then he laughed out loud when Adi asked him how he got to be his size. "Well I have Scandinavian blood in me and most people from that part of the world are taller than most. But I don't think I'm that huge....and you're not only just up to my knee. I think you're at least above my waist."
....and why was he comparing him with Alec? Sander shook his head and then shrugged. Maybe it's because there aren't that many Seventh year boys in the school. Yes that was most likely what it was.
.....and talking about Alec.
Whoa there Alec...I didn't say the exact same badge.
"No No....you misunderstood me....or maybe I'm not making myself clear enough. I said I've seen others with badges....not exactly the same with yours. So your's say Head Boy? Not bad." Sander nodded in understanding.
"Yes there are definitely more boys in Durmstrang than there are girls. At least that's what I noticed but I could be wrong." Sander shrugged. Right now the male vs female student ratio didn't seem that important any more.
BINGO!! Ella finally answered the question he had been wondering about. Ah! so prefects and Quidditch...there's that game again...captains also had badges. That made sense.
He gave her the thumbs up. "Thanks for explaining and pointing me in the right direction....and Head Kahuna...that's a term my cousin in Hawaii uses for people who are like the leaders or the chiefs. You being Head Girl would definitely fall in that category." Sander explained the phrase he had used to Ella.
Hazel giggled. "I'm looking forward to the eating part too," she said. "You said this was your first year here. Where did you go to school before?" If he went to Beauxbatons, maybe he knew her sister, but that was unlikely. It would also be really strange.
Kace chuckled and answered her question. He didn't think it was personal at all. "Yeah he is not a huge fan of magic. "I love it when my mom does magic." Kace smiled. "She can do amazing spells."
"Yeah you are gonna like Astronomy and maybe go to other classes like Potions, Transfiguration, Muggle Studies, Arthimacy and the list goes on..." he said with a smile.
"How about you? Where are you from?" he asked. He felt bad he wasn't asking any questions.
Bri was relieved to know that her question didn't offend Kace. She was trying to make friends, not offend them. "My dad is the opposite. He laughs magic, he always is reading books about wizards, and watching movies. I think he is a bit jealous, that I get to learn how to do it, and my mom is just happy for me." Bri said smiling
Bri listened as he listed off some of the subjects, she had somewhat of an idea about them, she started to read some of her school books before arriving, to get an idea. " I think I might do alright in Muggle Studies." Bri said with a giggle
"I live in Scarborough in North Yorkshire." Bri said happily "I've lived there my entire live. And you?" Bri asked
Bri nodded "Thanks for the advice." She said with a little sigh, hoping that she didn't meet too many mean students, though she that it was quite possible.
"I am actually not sure. I was reading some of the text books before coming to Hogwarts, and they all seem very interesting. Though may of them sound quite difficult." Bri said. She hopes that she does all right, and not make a fool out of herself.
Text Cut: Alec!
This... was something Alec liked to see. The excitement was great and what was even greater was the way this girl -- firstie, yeah? -- was so... good at talking to someone who was years older. Maybe he really wasn't the scary one. Even Astrid thought he wasn't.
Oh, hey! She was a muggleborn! "Did someone come to tell you about magic?" And she wanted to learn everything! Alec... was impressed. Were first years always this excited and eager to learn? Had he been this way when he was a first year? ... He... needed to ask someone about that.
Too hard? The classes? Alec looked past her and over towards the staff table. What was he meant to say? "Some are really great and can come easily and others..." He looked back at her and smiled a little. "... not so much. But... everyone finds one subject or another difficult, yeah? Try as hard as you can and you'll be great." Was that useful advice?
Bri grinned. "Yup, somebody, I forgot their name though," Bri blushed slightly, she was usually real good with names, but with all of the excitement of the last few weeks... "A lot of weird things happened around me when I was about 7, and no one could explain why, until that day." Bri said, "It was actually a big relief when it was explained to my family and me what was happening." The brunette said.
Bri listened to the advice that Alec was giving her. She nodded " Thank you! That makes sense, it's like when I went to my old school. I was real good at some of the subjects, so they were easy for me, but some of the subject were harder." Bri grinned.
"Hi, Bri. Are you enjoying Hogwarts? Or, at least, what you know about it?" Hazel said to the firstie. She didn't seem shy, but not too overly outgoing either. Just right. "I'm really excited for classes too!" It was so exciting to be back at school.
"I knew you were." Leah nodded sheepishly. "Did you do any magic back at your home before? Like, accidentally using your magic powers without knowing it?" The girl asked. "I'm sure all of us here have, and it would have been really weird if your parents are muggles." Leah was always curious about this.
"You don't need to be sorry," Leah said, shrugging. She was fine, why would Hazel be sorry? "Shoe brands?" Leah asked, almost automatically looking down at her feet. She was wearing black boots today. She wanted to wear pink (her favorite color) but her mum said that it would be too attention-seeking, even conspicuous. "I don't know much about shoe brands," Leah said honestly.
Leah scanned the girl for a swift moment unnoticeably. "Hi Haruka. Are you Asian?" Leah asked Haruka the question in her mind. "Cuz your name uh... sounds like one. Sorry if you're not, though." Making a foreign, even an Asian friend seemed nice, and Leah was excited to hear the answer.
Leah waved back at Tobias, registering his name and face into her mind at the same time. "Hiya Toby. Thanks for the congratulations." That was not the first time a Hufflepuff said that to her. "I love Hogwarts, it's so brilliant, though I haven't seen the rest of the school yet. I'm really looking forward to it." The girl paused for a moment, taking in her surroundings. "So um, what classes are there at Hogwarts? I've heard of some basic ones like Charms and Herbology, what else?"
"Hello, Dylan. I hope I didn't interrupt you guys talking." Leah said. Hmm, second year. "Are there any special events this year? I heard last year there was the er... European thingy?" She was hoping very much that they would have an event in her first year, but it did not matter if there wasn't.
"Teeheehee, it's okay, I was over excited too." Leah glanced around at the 'guys with badges'. "Yeah, cool. Hope I get a badge too." The first year said, sighing. "Speaking of Quidditch, are you on the Quidditch team?" Leah asked.
Third year. He looked like one, too. "Cuteness charm? What's that supposed to mean?" Leah could not understand that bit. "Oh, so... you don't play Quidditch now?"
SPOILER!!: Dylan :woot:"
Hazel laughed. Did I really just start talking about shoes? she thought to herself. "I don't know much about shoe brands either. Anyway, are you excited for classes? I remember my first feast and thinking about classes. I was really nervous, but still super excited!" Maybe Leah felt the way she did, or maybe she felt totally differently. She could remember that day like it was yesterday. But of course, it wasn't yesterday, it was last year. Wow, last year. That would take a while to sink in.
There was another boy just next to her. He didn't seem too much older than she was. Maybe third or fourth year? "Hi. I'm Hazel. I'm a second year," she said to him. She hoped she wasn't interrupting.
What was the time? Time for Alec to feel really... dumb.
When the boy mentioned a misunderstanding, the expression on Alec's face turned sheepish and he reached up a hand to ruffle his hair. This was... embarrassing. "Yeah... I thought you meant that... that there were more people with this badge wandering around," Embarrassing. Yeah. "Yeah, it does. People with badges are student leaders and... I guess we just help look after the student body.
More boys at Durmstrang. After being so used to the general male:female ratio at Hogwarts, it would probably be weird to go to somewhere where the ratio was completely different. "So... what's it like at Durmstrang?" Because the school had a reputation and some of the students that came last year weren't... the friendliest. Some were great but... love potions... shattering crystal orbs... not great.
That seeker. The seventh year was... confused about this little statement but things ended up becoming clearer and clearer the more the boy spoke. Should he be concerned that this boy had been... suspended from school? ... It was none of his business, right? "You thought I was awesome?" he asked, grinning a little, "I... thanks! That.. means a lot, yeah." Someone he hardly knew thought he was awesome. "Do you play?"
Was he okay with the idea of being step brothers with Wade? Alec... thought he should be. Because Wade was awesome and was bound to share pickles with the guy if he asked. "Oh... congrats to your mum, then," Smile. "Great to meet you, Bart! The name's Alec."
New person.
Alec tilted his head and looked over at the new girl curiously. New students were always... interesting. Some were really quiet, and Alec expected that, while others were loud or mischievous or wanted to try everything under the sun. So, in short, they were interesting and the boy did like meeting them. But this girl... she was a new Hufflepuff, yeah?
"Hey! Congratulations!" On getting sorted, you know. "Welcome to the house!" Did he need to mention that this was a really awesome house?
What were theeeey talking about, though? Shampoo, flowers, lavender, sage... Apollo? Oh, COME ON! One of the sun gods? You're kidding me, Alec Summers.
Also, also, did the Headmistress say NEW History of Magic Professor??? Smirk. Where did Tiberius go? Airey must know, right?
Seeker!boy was an awesome nickname and he was glad that it had managed to stick so well. He also expected this nickname to pop up whenever greeting with Lottie happened. What he didn't really expect was the kiss that was blown in his direction as well as the wink. It wasn't going to be okay with Ells, right? He knew how she felt about... things. But he didn't want to dismiss the friendly gesture entirely so... two finger salutes for you, Lotus Wisteria.
"I'm good with whatever nickname you throw at me," ... Pause. "A nice one. And not spinach-based." The boy had his reasons for this.
And no, the eavesdropping wasn't picked up on. Hair, you know. Hair was a very important topic and required one's full attention. Nodnod.
Oh ho ho. Was the Starman a big pogo fan? "Is he EVER! I taught him how to do it last year, kinda. I reckon he's pretty fond of it," Tobias explained, nodding his head as he spoke, eyes back up on the Astronomy professor. He, of course, didn't realise it, but Toby was starting to develop a lot of similarities to the Starman. "So I let him use my pogo stick every now and then, 'cause I'm nice like that."
He's been okay. The inquisitive part of Alec wanted to ask questions about this but he but them back. What if they made the boy upset? "Okay is... good, yeah," And he was thankful for the topic of Quidditch since... look at how HAPPY the younger Hufflepuff looked when the sport was mentioned! "That's what sucks about the holidays. No Quidditch," Unless you lived in a remote area away from Muggles or... or were part of summer Quiddith teams. "It'll be great to be back up and flying again."
"Really?" Flamsteed pogo-ing around... the image wasn't hard to picture. No. "Maybe you two could... form a team. Team Pogo." Pause. "... Or something more original," Boom? Stars went boom, right? No? ... Probably not. "Yeah... it's nice that you're sharing your pogo. I bet Flamsteed appreciates it." He would someone shared a pogo stick with him. Did he know how to pogo? ... Haha. Tag wasn't wise. He was average in intelligence. Though Lottie did say he sounds wise sometimes, but then messes it up with some sort of joke. Two of Tag's favorite Hufflepuffs already calling him wise. He'd take that. "Really, that sounded wise?" Tag asked Alec, simply shrugging at him. "I'm sure you're good at it. And yeah, you kind of do have to 'give it a go'." Tag said laughing a bit. Being a leader and good student and all.
Super sweets. They just weren't sweets. They were super sweets. Much better than the normal sugary stuff. "There's a super sweet stash? If you want to, yeah. You can put the chocolate stars in the stash." It's not like the boy would be complaining, you know.
Yep. Brilliantly. Alec didn't know that Tag had failed a few of them, right? He didn't need to know that. Tag only told him about the passing grades. "Thanks... Oh, the notes? Yeah, they helped a bit." A bit yes. Anything helped really. But, from all his procrastinating he ended up falling asleep on his textbook or getting easily distracted. "Yep. Have fun with all that studying again." He said giving Alec's shoulder another pat.
And talking about Alec Tag merely watched Lottie greet him. It shouldn't have made him laugh, but he did. This was innocent. But hilarious all at the same time. "Need some privacy?" He simply asked her, and Alec, if he were paying attention.
Was it so bad to think that Tag was waiting for some sort of reaction from Ella? To sit back and wait.
There was no way Alec could mess Tag's hair up; he liked the spiky, fluffiness that the Gryffindor had going on far too much. Plus, Tag might not appreciate it, yeah? All shampoos were useful. This was... amusing. Not the comment but the fact that Tag was now fully into the hair thing. Was it Alec's influence or was the boy normally like this? "You're right there, leprechaun," Nodnod. "Erm... I... I think so? Why?" Curious Summers was curious.
The seventh year nodded at Tag's remark. "Yeah, it did. I mean... you were talking about words and having the same connotations and... yeah. Wise. Accept it, Yoda," The two had had conversations where Tag had pretended to be Yoda, right? Shrug. Knowing them, it had probably happened. "Give it a go... give it my all... I guess I can do that," See? Positivity. "Thanks for believing in me, mate."
Super sweets were the BEST sweets around, hands down. You had your normal ones but the super ones... they were the greatest. Hand picked. Full of awesome. "There... could be one," he suggested, "Awesome! I'll get some soon and add them to the stash." Maybe they could make a game out of it; one hour of studying meant you could reward yourself with a star.
The passing grades were the only ones the nearly eighteen year old knew about. If he did find out about the others... well... Alec didn't know how he'd respond. Give a boy a pat on the shoulder for trying? Tell him he still did brilliantly? Yeah. Of course. "Anytime! ... Oh! I'm really glad they did," ... Studying. The topic was boring and one Alec didn't like but Tag's comment made him chuckle. "I... thanks, I guess. Make sure I don't get bored out of my mind, yeah?"
...
Tag. Tag Tag Tag. Alec's eyes widened a little and he looked over at the Gryffindor. It was a joke, sure, but he knew that Ells was sitting RIGHT there, right? "You sure you're not talking about yourself instead, mate?" And a particular brunette. Cough.
Ella wanted to tell him about saying goodbye to Gran and things and she wanted to see how his Dad had been. Truth be told, she was still a little worried Mr. S was cross with her for stealing his son for most of the summer. Worried Ella was worried. Mhm.
"It is." Smile was returned and her pinky wiggled in the air just in case he wasn't buying it. She really did feel okay, better than she'd been the past couple of days, at least. Hogwarts was a distraction. The good kind, of course. As for his question, the blonde tried not to frown. "I had something for breakfast, don't worry." Really, don't. She didn't want to be a burden to anyone.
"Me too!" Because the last thing Ella wanted was a bunch of giddy, levitating children throughout the train. Even if it would be sort of a funny sight."Lots and lots, yeah." Quite a few transfers too, it seemed. It was kind of nice in that there were lots of new people to meet. Ella's eyebrows shot up at the mention of underwear and she smiled a little, head tilted to the side. "That's...different." She had more questions too but she'd save those for later.
...
And then stuff happened. Not anything big or that bad but yeah, enough to make Ella feel uncomfortable so she looked away from Alec all together and settled on piling food on to her plate. It helped that the speech had finished and others seemed occupied doing the same, gave her an excuse to let her smile fade for a little bit. She wasn't hungry now, of course, but it was something to do. Tag's comment, though? ...Yeah. Nice.
See her there. Alec nodded. This sounded like a great idea. And one that might end up taking long since... they had to be the one to show the first years to the common rooms, right? And their dorms? So they could probably meet after they tended to their Head Girl and Head Boy duties. It was going to take long... just a bit.
She was wiggling her pinky in the air! Alec grinned and wiggled his back at her. This was probably weird, yeah? Shrug. It didn't matter. Air pinky promises had been made and he was happy about that. ... She had something for breakfast but not much on the train. And not worry? She did know that he had to worry some time, right? "I'm glad you had something to eat." Nodnod. And she could fill up here. What were feasts for, after all.
"Why do you think it was said?" It was a prank, sure, but was it to get the guy into trouble? Or to mess with the prefects and captains? Alec was... curious about the reasoning. Yeah. "Oh! I hope they're a great bunch," he said, shrugging his shoulders. He didn't think he knew many new students that well, apart from maybe Delilah. Did three meetings count as onowing someone well? ... "Yeah... yeah, it is." Mentioning his own underwear here wouldn't be great, would it? No. So... she'd did out the details later. Maybe. If... it wasn't embarrassing.
...
And this happened. He knew it. Alec frowned a little as waited for the girl to e finished piling her plate with food. Frankly, he didn't know how to reassure her about things without mentioning other things that he had sworn he wouldn't mention to anybody. After a couple of seconds, he reached over -- move over, please, Messy -- and grabbed hold of one of her hands, giving it a small, affectionate squeeze. Cheer up, please girlfriend?
Bri said, "It was actually a big relief when it was explained to my family and me what was happening." The brunette said.
Bri listened to the advice that Alec was giving her. She nodded " Thank you! That makes sense, it's like when I went to my old school. I was real good at some of the subjects, so they were easy for me, but some of the subject were harder." Bri grinned.
Alec smiles at the girl. "Forgetting the person's name isn't a bad thing, yeah? I... don't remember the name of the person who came to talk to me," Shrug. And weird things happening when she was seven? The smile on the seventh year's face only grew as he heard that. "I... yeah! I bet it was. All that confusion must have been really... weird on you and your family." Understood, he did.
The girl was talking more, did she know? Not that the older Hufflepuff have any complaints. He was more... relieved. Yeah. "I... yeah! It's exactly like that. And you don't know what you're good at unless... unless you give it a shot," See, now she had something o compare it to, yeah? Less frightening. "There are extra-curricular activities here, too. Quidditch and Gobstones... and a bunch of others. It's not a bad idea to give any of them a go." Hint hint.
Oh. Marigold blushed and wished she hadn't asked. Not because she didn't care, but because she didn't want to make Annalee feel uncomfortable. But the other girl just kept talking. "Oh," Marigold said out loud. She never even thought about it, but... Hogwarts must have been expensive. Her father had a fulltime Ministry job, and her mother worked at a daycare, and its not like they were millionaires or anything, but... she still felt bad.
She looked at her and gave a weak smile, "Sorry... I know it has to seem odd..." Anna looked down and gave a small laugh. She just wasn't use to this... Just sitting and talking with someone felt kind of odd... but it was definitely nice... even if the other girl didn't seem to care for it.
It really wasn't much of a nickname as it was a fact, Alec. He was the designated Seeker, and he's a boy, so... there you go! But she has been calling him that since she could remember. He was actually a cool boy, and he'll make a good job as Head Boy. Even better than Oakey. Mainly because Oakey had to deal with a lot of complaints back then which made his job a bit difficult.
ZOMG! SHE BEAMED! SHE BEAMED AT ALEC, CUZTWOFINGERSALUTE! She didn't bounce on her seat, though, but she came pretty close to do so.
Yup. Best Head Boy ever! No bias or anything. She could say the same thing about Ella, you know? Because at least she didn't screech/scream/whatever like a banshee... unlike former Head Girls...
While Lottie didn't understand why he'd mentioned spinach, she wasn't about to ask, she just shrugged, "I'll just stick to Seeker!boy," she smiled at him once more. Traditions, you know. Besides, everyone would be calling him Head Boy, how was that any special? Exactly.
Classic jokes are classic. We agree.
The staff table momentarily forgotten, because more important people were in this table, she was actually surprised at the question. Her face lit up with a smile, "Right now?" Her eyes were on him, that was a very obvious answer. However, she did know what it was he'd been asking about and she glanced at the staff table once more, "New Groundskeeper, see?" The man was the biggest over there, Tag would be able to see him. "Looks kind of menacing... intimidating...," keyword here was 'looks', looks were quite deceiving sometimes, her eyes went back to Tag and she smiled, "...maybe he isn't." She'd still have to pay a visit. Perhaps with Lex.
And now he was laughing... at her and Alec's interaction? This was the feast, this interaction was highly normal, but she still smiled as he laughed... until he spoke.
Her eyebrows went up. And she smirked.
Granted, she didn't know what to reply to that, except for one single word on her mind which she didn't dare speak up. Mainly thanks to Alec since he replied before her mind could be made up. That was quick, Seeker!boy. "Oh, no, he won't be needing any privacy, Alec," in a long time. Really long time. Since Lottie was quite possibly blushing, she turned her head away from the boys rather slowly and pretended to be interested in the food close by.
She was quite good at pretending. And surprisingly not hungry at the moment. Weird.
Marigold nodded at Hazel's reasoning. "I just get hungry easily on trips, so I had to buy a snack. Maybe on the train ride back I'll show you the food trolley?" she said, making it sound like a question. "I had some chocolate frogs. They are a weakness for me." Whoops. But Marigold dug the last one out of her pocket and put it on the table in front of Hazel. Plus, the speech had just been made, so the food appeared. "Happy eating!"
"Nice to meet you too, Lux. That is a SUPER COOL NAME. Is it a nickname, or your full one?" Marigold asked. She was interested in names, especially because she didn't quite like her own.
