| | Hufflepuff Barrels
On the right hand side of the kitchen corridor is a large stack of barrels, which may seem unimportant to most students but which are invaluable to the badgers of Hufflepuff. The entrance to the Hufflepuff Common Room is located just behind these barrels.
In order to reveal the entrance, one must tap the barrel two from the bottom, in the middle of the second row, in the rhythm of 'Helga Hufflepuff.' This will make the barrel's lid swing open, exposing a crawl-way that will lead to the common room. However, if either the rhythm of tapping is wrong or the wrong lid is tapped, the intruder will be doused in vinegar and barred access.
The entrance to the Hufflepuff common room is the only entrance which is repels intruders AND bars access to those who don't belong. If you are waiting on a friend from Hufflepuff, you can lean against one of these barrels and wait for them to appear. Don't try to sneak in, though; no one from another House has been in the Badger's common room in over 1,000 years!

Made Ella care less about what the elves might think of wasted food.
Elodie would totally get browning points for helping the Head Girl. What she could redeem them for, that was the unknown but surely Ella could offer something good in return. ...Maybe. "That'd be great, thanks. Only...mind if we hang here for a bit longer? I've sort of lost all motivation to move." And no, she definitely couldn't see the faded parts of the barrels but she nodded along like she could, not wanting to admit how horrible her eyesight actually was. Pretending, she'd gotten good at pretending. "During first year I wanted to change their colors, the barrels. Make them rainbow or something."
Ella smiled faintly at the leg patting and looked over at her, thoughtful. "I remember it's one in the middle somewhere but...yeah. Old age sucks." Seriously. Exactly! Boy, the Head Girl had a brain and a half on her, huh? Elodie smiled back and nodded. "Someone has to do the dirty work around here. I thought I'd get a move on and keep everyone happy." Or really..she just wanted to get her anger at everyone in the world out by destroying apples against walls. Elodie was a very angry person when it came to people. People made bad choices, said stupid things, had questionably low amounts of brain cells. And most of all...there were people like Tag Kildare and Delilah Starr gracing the Earth. Expectations for the human race were ridiculously low now.
She laughed a little, and nodded some more. "We can sit here as long as you need to. I don't have anything to go in there for except to hide under my bed, put paper chains everywhere and decorate Olly's bed in colourings." And those still sometimes got her funny looks, so it was all good to stay out here and stew over all the things going on in her brain. Or maybe she'd just take a nap. Ella wouldn't notice, right? Giving the barrels a look, Els shrugged. "I think rainbow colours would bring a whole lot of attention to them. But maybe you could do it before you graduate." Which was soon, huh? Was it wrong to bring that up? Were the seventh years doing that whole emotional thing as a whole like Els and Coul were themselves? "That's fine. Take your time.. It'll come to you." It wasn't time to stress.

It wasn't time to stress. "How thoughtful of you," Ella said quietly, amused. Come to think of it, this was maybe the first proper conversation she'd ever had with Elodie which was sort of sad. From what the eighteen year old could tell, the younger badger was funny and smart and maybe she'd missed out on getting to know her. Eh, better late than never, right? "Thanks, it's nice having the company out here." Because maybe she looked a little less awkward down here on the floor with another badger by her side. Also, those were interesting pastimes, especially the bit about decorating Olly's bed. This particular option made the Head Girl smile. "Does she like when you do that?" The seventh year was curious because to her, Olly was still very much a puzzling person. She couldn't quite figure her out. Looking back to the barrels again, Ella tilted her head and nodded in agreement. "Y'know, you're right. Though they'd still have to figure out which barrel to tap." And even Ella couldn't do that at the moment. "Maybe I'll try it before the feast or something." Maybe. Her last feast. Merlin. This was all very weird. Just...yeah. Sad feels about this subject.
Nodding slowly, Ella looked over at Elodie and half smiled. "You're not going to give me the answer, are you?" Not that she minded, it was just interesting.
