Across from Hogwarts' main doors stand four giant hourglasses filled with gemstones. The stones in the bottom indicate the current number of house points each house has earned so far.

Lily stood next to the hourglasses after having passed by them and noticed points already on the board. It was surprising since lessons hadn't started yet. So instead of rushing past it to get to wherever the seventh year had been headed, she stopped and looked at it.
It was nice having everything back after the goblins had tried (and sometimes successfully) repossessing some of the Hogwarts items. Particularly nice in this case was having all of the pieces used for calculating house points back in place. It made it a lot easier to tell that... Gryffindor was in first place!!! "How!!" Lily said, making her thoughts audible. "That can't be right..."

Adelaide was just wandering in from the grounds after a little bit of flying practice. She needed to make sure she was back on top of her game for tryouts coming up. Even though after playing the way she did last year, she really wasn't that nervous about it.
As she passed the hourglasses she heard someone say something. "Did you say something?" Addi said politely turning to the other red head. She recognized her from quidditch games, but couldn't place her name.

Lily whipped her head around when she heard someone behind her. "Oh... uh.. yeah..." She said, the very tips of her ears growing pink slightly. "I.. uh, was just saying that I didn't think the hourglasses could be right." She just hadn't thought she had said anything aloud.
"I mean.. it just doesn't typically have Gryffindor in first, ya know?" The seventh year said with a smile, turning to glance between the girl and the hourglasses. Lily knew she had seen this girl before, only wasn't sure from where, so she didn't say her name in case the other girl recognized her too.

Oops. Addi hadn't meant to sneak up on the girl. She thought the other red head had seen her approach. "Sorry. Thought you saw me." She stepped closer looking at the hourglasses. She just looked at them. She'd only been here a term and never really payed much attention to them. She did notice Slytherin already had five points though. That was nice.
Addi turned to the other girl. "It isn't?" She tried to remember where they'd finished place wise last year. "Sorry. This is only my second term here. I'm Adelaide by the way. And random question...but did you play quidditch last term?"

"Tis fine." Lily replied with a smile. The seventh year hadn't really been paying much attention to what was happening around her, so it was pretty easy to be sneaked up on. She gave the girl a smile before glancing back at the hourglasses. "No... Gryffindor hasn't won the cup in several years." Lily said, looking at the other hourglasses, noticing that her own house was in negatives.
"In fact, I don't think they've ever won the cup in my six years here so far." Not a bad thing in the seventh year's mind, except that she didn't remember winning the house cup yet either. "I'm Lily." The seventeen year old replied, offering a hand to shake. "I did play for Ravenclaw last term. Did you?" That's probably where Lily recognized the girl from.

Adelaide looked back at the glasses. Geez. That stunk. Sure they hadn't done too well last year as a house, but that was going to be different. And from what she heard Slytherin tended to win quite a bit.
Addi looked at the other girl and just blinked. "Really? Wow." That did seem quite odd...and sucky. She smiled. "I'm Adelaide." Lily. She tried to place the face on the Ravenclaw quidditch team from the commentary and such that she managed to catch. She nodded. "Yep. I played beater for Slytherin."
Melek was walking around the castle in her usual outfit: jeans, a black tshirt and combat boots. Her hair was thrown up in a messy ponytail so that it could be out of her face. The tip of her ponytail reached the middle of her back. Strands of her hair had escaped and framed her face. Her eyes showed boredom as she stomped around the castle on a rainy day. Melek longed to go outside but she rather not get soaked. Her mind was still on that letter from her parents... They dont want me to be home for summer... well fine! I guess I will just go to my aunt's like they want me to! At least it will get me away from them...She glanced up as she stopped and looked at the hourglasses. A frown appeared, "How can that be right? Ravenclaw in last?" Mel shook her head and sighed, "That is depressing..." Melek put her back against the wall and slid down, opening her book. Every few moments, she glanced up at them and shook her head. Soon enough, she went into her thoughts though and the book slipped out of her fingers. Melek closed her eyes and sighed, almost started to fall asleep.

Elodie wasn't looking for Gemini, because she hadn't misplaced him or lost him. She was trying to pin point his exact location, by whispering his name around corners and failing. So, she'd actually given up by the time she found him. He was juuuuuuuuuust about to sidle into a young girls lap and probably snuggle up and sleep there while she was. Tugging frustratedly on her hair, Elodie folded her arms and SIGHED at the cat, giving him her best evil eye. He was completely grounded for the next year.
"Gemini Robertser, don't you daaAAAre!"
... Was she intending to have slept there? Because there was no chance she was now. The cat had heard Els loud and clear and jumped straight into the 'sleeping' girls lap, taking refuge in her company.

Melek stirred wide awake with a surprised yelp when something jumped on her and someone was yelling or at least being loud. Mel's arms had wrapped protectively over the animal that had jumped on her. She glanced down and laughed, petting the animal. "I am assuming that this cutie is yours?" Melek picked the cat up and held him up to the girl, "He is adorable." She beamed at the girl, "Im Melek Somez, and you?" She glanced down and picked up her book, putting a bookmark in and closing it. Mel yawned and stretched, rubbing her back. "These walls are not comfortable to lean against..." She rubbed her eyes, trying to get the sleepiness out of them. Mel was happy that she hadnt drolled but her hair was even more messed up than before. Melek yanked her ponytail band out of her hair and just slipped it around her wrist. Her hair fell into a slightly tangled mess as she glanced at the girl.

Cutie. PSHHHHHHHHH. Gemini was a dead cat walking! Els took him from the younger girl, and sat herself down beside. Gem went into her lap, with Els' arms keeping him there, her hands fussing with his ears and tail. "He's not a cutie when he goes walkabout from my dorm and isn't anywhere I actually check." Which was exactly what the cat had done today and it was just ONCE TOO MUCH. "I bet my puppy wouldn't do that." Nope, Mucklow was just a cutie pie who slept in her lap all the time. Or maybe that was because he was a baby when she'd been with him over the holidays. Christmas presents...
"Elodie Robertser." Sixth year, and incredibly taller than you. Hufflepuff, and forever better than you. Best friend to a pretty awesome Slytherin, and definitely not sharing with you. Girlfriend to a super incredibly hot Gryffindor, and most definitely never letting you kiss his face or cheek or hand or anywhere. "Walls usually aren't the comfiest of places..." Common sense, actually.

Melek tilted her head, "Hmmm... thats rough but he is still cute to me." She laughed and smiled at the girl. "Oh, you have a puppy too? You are so lucky... I only got the cat from the adoption thing over the summer... I dont remember where it was though..." A frown appeared but she smiled again quickly. She watched the girl with the cat for a little bit and stretched again. A hand barely covered her yawn as she shifted positions.
"Pleasure to meet you Elodie Robertser." She smiled, "I am a third year Ravenclaw... but this is my first year here." Melek laughed, "What are you?" She laughed at her comment, "Yeah, I know that walls arent the comfiest of places... I was kinda just stating the obvious..." She shrugged then rolled her shoulders. "Hmmmm I shouldnt have been napping though... Annaleecia is probably waiting to hear what I think about the book that she gave me for Christmas." That last part was mainly for herself... thinking out-loud a little.

Elodie smiled, and played with her cats tail anyway. "He can be a cutie.... He gives really good kisses." Sometimes she favoured Gem giving her nose a little lick over going anywhere near Coulson. Especially when she was in a mood. Grinning at the thought of Mucky at home, she nodded. "His name is Mucklow, and my boyfriend got me him for Christmas because I've been asking for one since I was little." And now she had one and she couldn't be with him because school was highly interfering. "Oooh! What is your cat like??" AND WHAT WAS ITS NAME?! Did it want to be friends with Gemini?
Heh. She full-named her. Elodie grinned and nodded. "Sixth year Hufflepuff." She had nothing really against Ravenclaws. She knew a handful and cared about even less than that. "Are you enjoying Hogwarts?" Had she gotten up to anything fun? Done anything to break the rules? - No wait, she was a Ravenclaw. Did they do that sort of thing? Eh. She didn't care enough to question it more than the initial thought.

Caleb wasn't sure why he was so entrepreneurial today...perhaps it was the aging thing. He was getting all mature and feeling the need to start a business or something. OR maybe he was just bored and wanted to spice things up. He wasn't sure. Regardless, he had set up shop outside the house hourglasses where many people would run into him. He had a large sign on the wall behind him.

"Come one, come all! Step right up and let me work my MAGIC to get rid of your grays!" he called out to the students. He wasn't going to CHARGE them unless they wanted to tip him, which he was totally for but just provide them a favor and hopefully they'd owe him a favor someday too when he needed it.
True Slytherin line of thinking. Aunt Sierra would be proud.
Also he didn't think he could actually charge people for this. Meh.

Sophie happened to be taking a casual walk around the castle, when she was suddenly startled by the sound of someone yelling. "Dear Merlin!" she called out. That voice sounded familiar, though. That was Caleb, wasn't it? Sophie rounded the corner and came upon Caleb and his makeshift business. She laughed and said, "You're such a weirdo." Heh. "Just kidding. I love you, little brother."
"So I have to do my Charms homework, too. I charm your hair and your charm mine?" she asked. "Only, I'm not going to pay you, so if that's what this business is for, then you're out of luck with me." She glanced around, noting that nobody else was lining up. "Not like you have much of a choice, hmm?"

This was really not getting as much traffic as Caleb had expected. Really? No one wanted an aging 13 year old to perform cosmetic spellwork on them? SHOCKING!
But then he heard Sophie coming around the corner, and he smiled. "Hey! I'm not little - and who knows, at this rate I COULD be older than you now," he pointed out. Who knew what age they were right now.
"Sounds good to me, since no one else is taking the bait," he said with a small sigh. "And no, I'm not charging, but tips are appreciated," he said with a grin. Care to hand over some of that allowance money, twin? hehe.
"Stand still," he ordered, looking at his notes and then waving his wand over her hair. That was easy - he was still a bit taller than her, being a strapping man and whatnot. He waved his wand over her roots and said "Senectus Reversus!" making sure to really let it roll of the tongue like Fuller had told them. He smiled as some of the brown started to return to the roots. "Awesome! That's a good start, I'd say," he said, quite proud of his handy work. He leaned down and grabbed one of the mirrors he had brought for his non-existent customers, handing it to his sister.

Sophie paused mid-track. He could be older than her? Ohh. "You're right," she said, "but in this case, I'd want to be younger. That means I'd probably live longer at this rate." WIN. Although, she wasn't really sure how long that would be. Months? Years? ... Days? *GULP*
Sophie didn't want to die! She just wanted her mom and dad!
Sophie rolled her eyes. "Well, I'm not tipping either. Wait--yes I am. My tip comes in the form of you having better hair all on account of my spellwork," she said. She stood still, though. At least she trusted her brother to cast on her. Sophie waited for the casting, and when it'd come, she took the mirror from her brother and examined her hair. "Ohh, cool!" she said.
"Now my turn," she added. Sophie stood on her tippy toes. "Lean down, Caleb." She then raised the wand and waved it over Caleb's hair. "Senectus Reversus!" she said, allowing the words to just roll off her tongue. Then she handed the mirror back to Caleb. "Look. You have gray hair and dark brown roots."

"Don't talk about that," Caleb snapped. Dying was NOT a topic that they were going to talk about. Nope. Ignorance was bliss, in this case. He was SURE the board and the staff would come up with something to stop this. He was sure of it! They were in those positions for a reason, right?
"That doesn't count!" he chuckled at her tip comment, glad that the conversation had shifted back to something lighthearted again. Following her command, he leaned down so that she had access to his hair, which he'd let grow out kind of shaggy the last few months. It seemed silly to cut it when it was just going to grow back gray - plus, he had wanted to be sure he actually still had HAIR when the disease reversed. He could have been going bald, so the long hair was a reminder to him that he was lucky!
He grinned and looked in the mirror. He was still gray but the roots were fixed, just like Sophie's. "If only we had a camera right now," he chuckled. They looked so silly with their reverse roots! "Ok, now for the back - turn around," he ordered. He wondered how many times he'd have to do this spell, since she had a lot more hair than him. Silly girls with their long flowing hair!
"Senectus Reversus!" he said as he waved his wand over the back of her hair. It was getting easier to say now, easier to let it roll off the tongue. And because THAT was easier, more of Sophie's hair changed color this time. "Check it out! Now it looks like you just experimented in some weird new fad where you dyed the sides of your hair gray," he chuckled.

Sophie nodded. Yeah, she really should take him up on that advice. Dying scared her. She'd even asked that new ghost, Marion Burbage, about it. "I know," she said, "and I won't." It was getting sort of hard to ignore, though. "I just want to go home, you know. I want to be with Mom and Dad."
"It doesn't count?" she said. Hmm. "Well, I guess you'll have to get one of the other hundred people in line to fix your hair for you then." She waved her hand behind her as if there was a huge line waiting to get their chance at Caleb's little business. Only, there was no one behind her. She laughed along with him, though.
Sophie turned around and let Caleb work his magic on the back of her hair. When the spell had been cast, she looked in the mirror once again. "Yeah, it does." She sighed. "Only, I really want my real hair color back." She looked sad for just a moment then waved for him to turn around. "Turn around," she instructed. She raised her wand again then waved it over the back of his hair. "Senectus Reversus!" she said, letting the words flow off her tongue again. "Ohh, look at your hair! You look like a skunk," she said, laughing.

"Yeah, me too," Caleb admitted with a sigh. "I just wanna be in my own room, where I can sleep and hope when I wake up, Baldwin is there to greet me and it turns out this was all just a terrible dream," he grumbled. That was what he hoped for every morning - to wake up and find himself looking at HIMSELF in the mirror, not some shriveled up version of him from the future.
Ok, enough depressing talk, back to the hair!
WAIT WHAT? "A skunk!? What did you do?!" he asked, grabbing for the mirror. Ok, nothing really bad had happened - half of his hair was back to normal. The rest was still gray, giving him a very skunk like appearance, as she said. Actually, more like a badger. Oh Merlin, this disease was turning him into a HUFFLEPUFF!
"Alright, hold still while I do the sides - why do you have so much HAIR, Soph?" he grumbled, waving his wand over the right side of her hair and saying "Senectus Reversus!" very clearly as he had before. There, almost finished! Just a few odd gray highlights left...

That was what he hoped for every morning - to wake up and find himself looking at HIMSELF in the mirror, not some shriveled up version of him from the future.
Ok, enough depressing talk, back to the hair!

He wanted to go home, too? "Then let's go," she said. "We can owl Mom and Dad, and they'll come get us. I'm not going if you don't go, though." She wasn't going to just leave him here to rot away even further. What if it was something in the castle? What if getting out cured them? She got teary-eyed at his description of home. She was already writing home to her mother in her mind.
She actually laughed, though, when he freaked out over her skunk description. "Relax. I just meant that you're sort of striped like one," she said. He was already looking at himself in the mirror, though. She held still but still answered him. "Because I'm a girl," she said. "You'd have a lot of hair, too, if you were a girl." Actually, he did have a lot of hair for a boy.
Sophie waited until he was finished working on her sides, and then she turned to work on his. "Hold still," she said. She waved the wand over the left side first. "Senectus Reversus!" she said, feeling the words rolllll off her tongue just as they had before. She then moved to the right side and waved her wand over it, too. "Senectus Reversus!"
"All done," she said. "...and I better get going. I still have some other homework to do. That was all we had to do, right?"

"But what about SCHOOL?" Caleb asked. As Ravenclaw as that might sound, Caleb was not going to be an Auror if he just up and quit school every time things got tough. "Hopefully they come up with a cure soon. Weren't the Board of Governors meeting about that or something?" he asked. Yeah, they were going to fix it, right?
"Awesome, thanks! You're good too," he added, even though she could clearly see that from her hair. "And I guess I'll get going too. I should pack this up," he said sadly, looking at his sign that no one had bothered to take him up on.

"Harry Potter didn't finish school," Sophie pointed out. "Neither did his friends." Still, they'd been seventh years. Not second years. Sophie didn't point out that, though. Meh. Then she looked a little sad. "What's school anyway if we're going to age our way to death sometime in the near future?"
She sighed. "Yeah, they were meeting about it. I guess I'll wait for a cure, too then," she mumbled. She spared him a smile. "I'll see ya later." She turned slowly then walked off.
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
Everyone checked the house points.
Very common fact right there. For one reason or another people usually visited the hourglasses. She was guessing for some it'd have been for ehouse pride reasons like the puffers who KNEW they were in first without competition but they still came to look. Could be like the Gryffindors who might have all been shocked to find out the term was near over and they'd managed to hold on to second. Whatever the reason, people would come which meant she needed to have her poster plastered for when they got here.
Obviously she wouldn't be sticking it to any of the glasses themselves, if only because she wasn't trying to be a nuisance to those trying to see. Nuisance posters usually got torn down, that wasn't what she wa trying to accomplish. Nope.
Lex shifted along the wall until she found a nice spot. "Adhaero!" Getting it all over the back, mhm, then she slapped it against the wall. Who would be incharge of taking these all down at the end of term? Merlin don't tell her it'd be the job of the student leaders because yeah.....just no.

Almost, ALMOST. Lottie almost considered doing the same thing she'd done with her first poster. Taking out one Pro-Pluto poster at a time, but this time, well, it was different. There weren't tons of posters around, just this lonely one. Which pretty much resembled her point. Not a planet. Though the one stuck to the wall clearly stated it was. No. No, no. Pluto was no longer a planet, so they should just get over this incident, truly.
So, wand up and poster up as well, the Hogwartian cast another sticking charm and placed the poster a few inches higher than the Pro-Pluto one. Pro-Plutoids are of higher ranks, so, that explains the couple of inches.
What do you know? Two opposite views on a topic definitely looked good on this wall.
For some reason she thought of Ivy Knox and Airey Flamsteed, because of hourglasses, you see? Gems turned into rocks, ring a bell? Exactly.
