Sander watched as the Professor prepared the arena for the practical portion of the class. All the desks and bean bags had been removed to be replaced by a large net filled with colorful balls...which he identified as those balls used in the game of Quidditch. As he waited he saw something from the corner of his eye. Something was shimmering near the ceiling but when he looked up he couldn't see anything.

He glanced back down and waited for the Professor to explain what they were going to do next.

Bart kept practicing even though he had them down pretty good and was hitting the dummy because he felt like it now, but soon he couldn't practice anymore because the professor was moving things around. He still tried to hold up hope that she would bring one of those demon creatures in to do these spells too or maybe house competition it was going to be them chaining people. "Will we be throwing chains at each other? The house with the most tie ups wins?"

That would be awesome! Was professor chaos going to let them do that, because she may just become the coolest professor here if she did. Bart was so ready to play though anything with competition attached to it had to be good. He was very competitive so this had his interest. Focus when it came to competition and doing was not a problem.

He was ready to start, could they start? Oh and what were they doing?

Lux watched as the area for this part of the lesson was prepared. She was curious about what exactly this competition would entail, very excited to play a game. Though she was not a very competitive person, she loved playing games like this, and wanted to get even more points. If she won her competition with Bay at the end of the Term, she would have Ziggy for a whole week. The stakes were high.

Looking up towards the ceiling, she noticed something shimmering and wondered what it could possibly be.

Waiting for the students to gather around, she checked over a few things to make sure everything was in working order. "Yes...and no, Mister Maroon." she spoke, looking over to the Gryffindor lad momentarily before speaking out to the entire class. "You vill be chaining...these."

She held up a yellow ball, about the size of a quaffle, and let it go.

________WOOOOOSH!

It zoomed and zig zagged quickly through the air, above the shimmering light. A somewhat slower imitation of a snitch. "There are four different colors and two different sizes. A quaffle size and a bludger size. You're task is to chain as many of them in your house color as you can. Aim, anticipation, and reflexes...are very important for this task. Each time you chain a correct ball, your house receives one point on the scoreboard. If you chain another house's ball... that particular house receives the point. Understood?" It was preeeetty straight forward.

"As you can see, they don't like to stand still." Glancing up towards the ceiling, her eyes watched the yellow ball, never moving past the shimmering light. "I haff a protective layer above us so no stray ball or chain vill fall or hit us. Things can go through, but can't come back. So...aim carefully, or you'll haff a few chains blocking your aims." Turning her focus back to the class, she smiled. "Other than the usual rules of no harming your classmates or interfering vith their casting, I think ve're ready to begin. Get ready."

"In 3...2........1......TWEEEEEEEET!"

The balls were released! Let the game begin!

RULES OF THE GAME

The object of the game is to use the spell "Ligatenous" to chain as many balls in your house color as possible.

[X] Do Not Double Post.
[X] Don't RP a ball hitting your character.
[X] Don't RP a chain hitting your character either, unless a student specifically casts at another student.
[X] Don't cast at other students!
[X] It's completely fine if your character chains a ball not in their house color.
[X] It's completely fine if your character doesn't hit anything.
[X] It's completely okay to not be perfect, hmkay!

Well at least the activity was right up West's alley. He understood the instructions just fine and as soon as they were allowed to begin, his eyes found a green ball and he aimed for it confidently. "Ligatenous!" The chains shot out of his wand and wrapped the ball up tight.

It'd be easier while there were still plenty to aim at... it'd get harder when there were less. For sure.

Sander gave Professor Romanos his full attention when she gave instructions on how the game was supposed to be played. So he was supposed to capture the yellow colored balls with the chain spell.

Sander watched the balls as they zoomed around. He watched them carefully as they zigged and zagged. Like the Professor had said his timing had to be perfect....just like it was when playing ice hockey. He had to anticipate when and where the goalkeeper would move, so that he could hit the puck at the right time, past him.

So this was another version of playing ice hockey, only this time, he wasn't trying to avoid the goalie, he was trying to gauge where the ball would move before casting the spell at it.

When Professor Romanos blew her whistle, Sander immediately became alert. First thing he did was narrow down his search to just the yellow balls. Then when he found one, the bigger of the two and kept an eye on it, blocking out the others. He watched as it zigged one way and zagged in another. First zig and then zag and then zoom...zig and then zag...zoom

Sander took out his wand and got ready....zig...zag...zoom...Sander pointed his wand and said, "Ligatenous" aiming for the spot just in front of the ball where he anticipated the ball would move next.

Chains immediately flew out of his wand, and flew straight up....up...up....and wrapped itself around a yellow ball. He had captured one. Now for the next.

Well it wasn't hard. The spell. West glanced at Vesper, sort of to see if she was alright with this task but then also she wasn't on his 'team' so... he returned his attention to the moving balls, blue eyes following them and zeroing in on one that was moving up and down in an easily to follow pattern. Now focusing on the chains. He pointed his wand "Ligatenous!"

His hand-eye coordination was pretty good, and once again the ball he'd aimed for suffered the fate of being chained up tightly.

Sander sighted another yellow ball, this time a smaller one. It would be harder but Sander was determined to capture it because he had seen the Snake Quidditch Captain capture his. So he concentrated and watched the yellow ball. It was now getting harder as more chains were now being cast in the air.

Zig...zag...zoom....Sander got ready...ready.....go...."Ligatenous" he called out as he pointed his wand at his target. Again chains flew out of his wand and flew up into the air. He held his breath. This was going to be a close one, for this ball was flying a little faster than the one he had captured earlier.

....but the chains flew straight and threw and wrapped themselves around the yellow ball. He had another. Sander released the breath that he didn't realize he was holding.

You have got to be kidding me...

Vesper was initially a little shell-shocked, but the words Romanos had mentioned...Aim, anticipation, and reflexes...Well, that was quidditch stuff. As a Keeper, she had to anticipate all the Chasers movements on the pitch and her reflexes were better this term than they had been during the last..

Ves just needed to get her head in the game...so to speak.

Looking up, she seen all the different colored balls, already darting around, and groaned. One more challenge to layer on the other major one. They were mixed up and jumbled...Okay, she needed to move.

Spying a clump of green and blue balls moving around each other, Ves squinted and tried to cast the spell. It was a bit harder without her previous inspiration...but she couldn't always depend on that, anyway. "Ligatenous!"

SQUINT. Within seconds, the chains had sprung back...obviously not having caught anything. She quickly tried again. "Ligatenous!" Once again, there were chains...but after several seconds, they returned, not having connected with a ball.

The Ravenclaw glanced to Romanos. She wasn't too fond of this.

There were now more chains being released. It was now getting harder, but Sander continued to persevere. There was another bigger yellow ball. He watched its movements and when he felt the timing was right, he pointed his wand and cast the spell, "Ligatenous".

His chains flew straight up, barely missing another set of chains and wrapped itself around the ball. He had caught another one.

This was kind of a useless exercise, in her opinion. Were they not even going to use the traction spell for this? That one puffer was skating around, but Alice thought she herself would do a better job if not moving. Painful knee and all. Instead of casting a Finite on her shoes to rid them of the charm, she stood in one place and let them be. Maybe she'd fix them after class or something.

"Ligatenous." It was quiet, her point was half-hearted, and her aim was off. When the chains she'd created burst forth, looking a little weak, they ended up capturing a Slytherin ball instead of the red one her eye had been on.

.... whatever.

Sander's eyes were beginning to water. It was hard work trying to keep a constant eye on one single ball, especially if the ball was moving together with other colored balls. Sander spotted another yellow ball and focussed his attention on it.

He wiped his eyes and then refocused again. Where had it gone? Wait there it was. Sander kept his eyes on it and when he thought it was time to release his chains, he pointed his wand at it and said, "Ligatenous".

His eyes began to water again, just as he said the incantation. Sander wished that he could recall the spell but it was too late, he watched as the chains flew out from his wand, and go flying....right past the ball barely missing a red one. He heaved a sigh of relief. At least he had not accidentally captured the wrong colored one.

Was two enough? West got that it was a competition and all but... he was fine with this spell now. It was easy. And aiming at things was easy for him so all in all it was no challenge and maybe he should just... hover back here and let others get in there a bit. He glanced over at that Hufflepuff dude.

... someone was overeager huh?

To mix things up a bit... West aimed his next lot of chains to intercept someone else's attempts. Chains chaining chains in other words, and therefore whoever's chains those were, didn't hit a yellow, red, or blue ball.

Defense, y'know.

Such a futile activity. Really. She got the spell, okay? Just... stupid balls. Alice didn't want to do this, or be here, or learn how to chain a dumb Chort up anyway. It wasn't as if she was ever going to see one in her uninteresting lifetime, was it?

"Ligatenous." The seventh year was still quiet, and her aim was a bit better this time. The chains burst forth and shot directly towards the red ball in her line of sight, only to be blocked by another set of chains and get all tangled up.

Turning to see who the interceptor was, her eyes landed on West.

This was still stupid.

Sigh.

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

All she could do was try again...She'd almost gotten it in the classroom. The chains had reached that dummy and had almost latched on. They had been so close!...

Taking a deep breath, and possibly feeling even more determined than before, she glared at the stupid balls zigzagging to and fro. One of them...was going to be hers. Ves was GOING to catch one, dangit. SHE WAS.

...and for a moment, she was up in the air on the quidditch pitch...carefully watching Cat and West speeding towards her with their complicated maneuvers...trying to anticipate their final approach and dodge it...Her eyes forever on that scarlet ball. Instead, now it was a blue ball..."Ligatenous."

The chains lashed out...and then they connected with one of the blue balls zipping through the air. SQUEAK!

...and she might have been victory bouncing around...

Success was sweet. West turned a smile on Alice and essentially acted like nothing was wrong. He even winked at her and blew her a kiss.

Playing up the jerk card today, apparently.

And Ves apparently found a ton of inspiration, since she was doing great now. He watched her for a second, grinned, and then turned his attention upward again.

More defense maybe? That had been fun.

Sure. Why not?

Now this was the kind of lesson he liked. The rules were simple enough. It was carrying out the actions that were going to be a little harder.

Michael looked at Little Bunny and chuckled. "I guess our abilities are about to be put to the test." Like he had said before, aiming at stationary dummies was easy.

He took a couple of steps away from the Slytherin to give both her and himself some room and then searched for a red ball. Spotting one just overhead, Michael pointed his wand at it. "Ligatenous." Chains flew out of his wand but the red ball moved at the last second causing the chains to fly through the plastic covering, never to be seen again.

Stupid ball.

And he got blanks looks in return. Would Romanos notice if she 'accidentally' chained his legs up? Yes? No?

Considering it. But she still pocketed his kiss.

Turning back to the red ball, the one that'd been taunting her since the beginning of this ridiculous activity, she tried again. "Ligatenous." The chains exploded from the tip of her wand again, shooting towards the red ball....

... and captured a yellow one.

There were not words to describe this level of frustration. There weren't.

Ian listened as the instructions were given and tried to get all of them. He heard about the points and decided, that was about all he was going to hear. As she released the balls, they began to move and careen. My goodness, they're moving quickly! he thought to himself. He tried to find the yellow ones as he wanted to help his house. Unfortunately, between the cane, the other students and the speed of the ball, he wsa having difficulty even imagining catching one.

Adi was here and ready to give this game a go! Chain yellow balls. That was pretty simple and Adi thought he'd have no trouble with this. He glanced up and spied a Quaffle sized ball directly over him but it wasn't yellow. He wasn't going to give other Houses points if he could help it.

He spied a Bludger sized yellow ball next to a green one. Target acquired! "Ligatenous!'' the Puffer said and pointing his wand. No chain! Nooo! This wasn't the time for nothing to happen! He tried again. "Ligatenous!'' Yes! Chains! It shot from his wand and wrapped around the yellow ball.

Welp.

Ella watched Romanos and then watched as the colorful balls started whizzing around above them. She kept her eyes on the yellow ones, ignoring those around her. If she focused, this shouldn't be too hard. She just needed to find one that wasn't moving too fast. Hm.

Zeroing in on a quaffle-sized ball overhead and to her right, the blonde narrowed her eyes and following its trail with her wand. Now she'd just need to, "Ligatenous!"

The chain moved fast but at the last second, the yellow ball changed its course. The eighteen year old expelled a frustrated sigh and frowned slightly. That was a waste.

Oichi was a little apprehensive wbout all this in her current state. Her hair was pitch white now which she knew meant she had aged even more. With the current activity involving running around and keen eyes to chain a ball she was not sure how her body would take it. Still she took out her wand and did her best to track a red ball. She found one and quickly turned and pointed her wand at it. She heard a creak and felt slight pain but fought through it. "Ligatenous", a metal chain came shooting out and missed her targeted red ball by an inch but happened to wrap around another red ball a mere foot away. Oichi stared gobsmacked by what just happened.

Bart listened and his eyes widen as he saw the quiddtich style balls. Bludgers now they were talking. He gripped his wand in anticipation. Let's do this! He could do it. Show all of them. Games he was always ready for. Watching the balls zip around he followed them careful. Professor Chaos knew how to get his attention. "This is awesome."

He was ready....


Once it was time to start he moved like a stalking cat watching up and not caring about the other students around him. His full focus was on the balls and winning, because that he could do. He pointed his wand and watched the ball zoom past. They were fast, but he could be faster he'd show that he could be. Pointing just a bit farther ahead of one that he was now following "Ligatenous"

The chains sprang out and flew up catching the ball!!

"SCORE"

Adi was up for chaining another ball. More chains were erupting from wands all around him as his classmates tried to catch their respective House coloured balls. Adi spotted another bludger shaped yellow one.

The Puffer wasted no time. "Ligatenous!'' He stared as chains shot toward the ball. Quite honestly, he hadn't expected that to work on the first try but he was pleased. He was getting better at the spell. He watched in excitement as the chain wrapped around the yellow ball. Awesome! Two yellow balls chained.
