| | |  History of Magic Lesson One
 Located down one end of the first floor corridor is the History of Magic classroom. It is simply an ordinary classroom, like one would expect, student desks neatly lined up in rows with the professor's desk located in the front of the room with a blackboard behind it.
Today's lesson is held late afternoon in the middle of autumn, the sun beginning to hang low in the sky with rays of light filtering in through the classroom windows. Professor McCormack is found leaning against the side of his desk, waiting for his students to arrive. Come in and take a seat, there are no assigned ones here yet. But Professor McCormack has taken a note from one of his old mentors as he knows the name of exactly one student, so please follow the instructions on the board.

Some more note-taking from the Slytherin, then listening as Professor McCormack explained what they were doing. Flame-Freezing Charm? Layla wasn't so sure that was a good idea, especially for the younger students, but she was curious to see what happened. So, after stopping to quickly pull her hair back with a ponytail holder and removing her outer robes (flames and loose clothing/hair were never a good combination), she followed the rest of the class out the door and to wherever the professor was taking them.

Yep. History of Magic had waaaaayyy too much talking involved. It was probably the least hands on class that there was, and Cat focused much easier when she had hands on work to be doing. It was lucky for her that the Professor had announced that they were going outside. Even though there were much more distractions out there.
Okay. Time to go! She joined the crowd and followed everyone else out of the classroom. | |

Delilah scribbled on her parchment as the lecture went on. Notes were very useful, yeah? And they would definitely help when she studied for her exams. Just when she finished writing, the professor that they'd ben starting the practical part of the lesson. Flame-freezing charm.. how exciting! She loved learning new spells.
... Wait. 'Element of danger.' That was even more exciting! She put her things away in her bag before standing up and slinging the bag over her shoulder. Delilah gave the professor a small smile before heading out the classroom.

Oh. He was right. Gwen wouldn't be able to escape even from a muggle prison if she had a wand. Yikes. She had better learn something quick that was going to get her out of jail if she were ever imprisoned. Flame freezing charms? Were they to anticipate being burned at the stake? Gwen's heart pounded uncomfortably. This magic thing was pretty dangerous, wasn't it? Regardless, she stood and followed the professor and class out onto the grounds.

Field Trip?
Suffice to say that was the only thing the Gryffindor had heard in everything the Professor just explained to the entire class. She wasn't listening--a bad habit she should try fixing but as far as she was concerned she had nothing to worry about until January and Lottie was taking all the notes ever and scribbling into their books so what was she listening for? The girl would rather not go brain dead from a lecture thanks.
Lex didn't need to pack her things, she hadn't taken anything out in the first place. Nope. The girl slung her bag over her shoulder and darted through the door.
He said something about a forest, there was only one here that she knew about and this made everything more interesting.

Kace was learning a lot in this class. He approved of the teacher teaching skills. He knew what he was talking about. He knew his information and Kace was writing down all the notes. His hand was cramping but this info would be useful someday. Then he heard they were going to the forbidden forrest? Awesome! They were gonna be learning a new spell.
He loved field trip portions. He always learned more doing the physical portions than the lectures. He collected his items and then went out of the classroom ready to go to the grounds with the rest of his classmates.

So Class was over well the lecture part anyway. Good. Well it had been a nice lesson, though. He was ready to get up and go. But wait. There was more? They were going outside for a practical portion of the lesson. Yes. He would go. Danger and fire sounded fun. He got up and followed the professor and the other outside.

OOOH FIELD TRIP?
Hayley Alden had never liked sitting still and the idea of a fiend trip during what was supposed to be the most boring class of all time most definitely sounded appealing. Very appealing, even. She all but shoved her things into her bag and scrambled after the class, flailing slightly as she tried to catch up.
Who cared how ridiculous she looked? She was going on a FIELD TRIP!
